I've been to this place several times for Peruvian chicken (love Peruvian chicken). Honesty, because Super Chicken is too far a trek. But, I think this place is pretty good. Not as good as Super Chicken, but a good 2nd place. The first thing noticed is that it's kind of hard to find. It's near the intersection of 29 and 50 in the plaza with the Bray and Scarff appliance store, BUT it's BEHIND the plaza. The shop is not that big and is actually old looking. A little run down. But these type of places have better food, right? I usually get takeout. I like their Yucca. Most of the time they fry it right when I order so it's nice and hot. I love it when it's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and that's how it usually turns out. My other favorite side dish is plantains. Theirs is hit or miss. Sometimes it' really good and sweet. Other times it's bland or not ripe. This is usually fried when I order it also, so this too is hot when I get it. The problem with both these sides at this place, and maybe others also if they pack it the same, is that they put it right from the fryer into the styrofoam box. When I get home, the yucca and plantains has melted a lot of the styrofoam box, if it hadn't made a whole through it. I always leave that bottom layer because I don't want to eat yucca or plantains with melted styrofoam on it. I like their green sauce. They do change in spicyness though...depending on the jalapeños, I guess. The white sauce is pretty good also. I usually dip the chicken in the green and white sauce together. So good. I don't undrstand why these type of places charge for extra sauces though. Kind of petty, IMHO. It's not like it's out in the open and people can grab a handful. They distribute themselves so you would think they don't have to charge for it. This and the melted styrofoam kept me from giving it 5 stars.

I came in a while back about an hour before closing. The guys there, not knowing I understand Spanish, had the following conversation about my order: Guy 1 (in Spanish): Do you want to make it? Guy 2 (in Spanish): No. Guy 1 (to me, in English): We're out. I smiled and ordered something else. They didn't offend me: I thought the side conversation was funny. The food was very good. The chicken made up for the comical service. The yucca fries leave something to be desired. They were cut a little too thick for my taste and were lacking the usual flavor I love elsewhere. But I'll be back.

A little tricky to find, it's in the cut at the back of the building after guitar center. The place is definitely a hole in the wall and I recommend this place. The price is decently priced for a 1/4 chicken combo for $6.99 and comes with yuka and salad. The salad was tasty and the yuka was really amazing, crunchy outside and soft inside. The chicken has an amazing charcoal bbq flavor skin and has a great marinade that is infused in the chicken meat. I also ordered plantains but they were sub par dry and not enough caramelization; for $3 don't get it. An additional plus is their green sauce. It's the perfect spiciness and paste consistency. Probably the best green sauce I've had. I found my new spot for peruvian chicken in the area. So damn good, I will be a regular.

I always love this place in the morning but the service at night is horrible. 2 times this week I've heard the workers say in Spanish "don't want to make it, say we don't have chicken left" and told use there's no chicken left, around 8 pm smh

  • Jen R.

This place is delicious. The only Peruvian chicken place we go to. The fries could be better, but other than that...YUMMY! #regulars

    (5)
  • Andy M.

Not sure why this place gets so many good reviews. 1. Yuca and french fries sides were very small and the french fries were soggy. 3. Chicken was ok. Not bad, bot great. 4. 3 stars since chicken was ok but nothing memorable about the meal.

    (3)
  • Shawn D.

This is a prime example of a place that does only one thing, and does it extremely well. The flavor in their chicken is unrivaled. It gets super deep so that every bite you take packs that smokey spice-laden herby Peruvian juicy goodness. I salivate as I write. And all the sides are great compliments to the chicken. The yuca and plantains are highly recommended. The staff is always friendly. The decor is bare minimum, so as to not distract you from the main goal of stuffing your face with chicken. Be careful though. Once you eat here, every other Peruvian spot is gonna taste like cardboard.

    (5)
  • Ghaith M.

Maybe the food and the service at night is not good. The food wasn't special just ok (yuca wasn't good) and the service was horrible for some reason.

    (2)
  • Avery W.

So tasty I like Peruvian chicken! It is not expensive at all either!

    (4)
  • Case Y.

I love a good "hole in the wall" type of place, but I wasn't that impressed. Have eaten at Super Chicken in Tysons and El Pollo Rico in Arlington many times and found the food at those much more tasty, chicken more juicy, significantly larger portions (for about the same price), and somewhat more friendly service. Would give it a 2.5 if I could, but with only 5 choices this is the best fit.

  • Kristell F.

This place is incredibly delicious and has a great price. The staff is always super friendly too. I don't think it can get better than this, friendly staff, delicious food and great price this place is highly recommended to anyone in the area. To get here it's a little strange because it's in the back of the main building. Don't let the appearance fool you though the food is incredible. The chicken is nice and juicy and has a great flavor. The yuca is also great and so are the plantines. If you have never tried Slchi Papa you are in for a treat. Get that next time you go. If you come here you definitely must get dessert. Has the best desserts in town. Alfajors are top notch here but so is the flan/quesillo. The best I've had in the area for certain. I am now a regular and crave this place all the time. It's just so darn good. Wish I was there right now eating haha.

  • Christine N.

My boyfriend and I were craving Peruvian chicken one night and had no idea that there was a place down the street from us! Wild chicken is definitely a hidden spot, but we're so glad we found it. It has a "hole in the wall" feel, but they keep it so clean. We walked in 10 minutes before closing time and they were happy to serve us. The employees are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and really make you feel like you're getting an authentic home cooked meal. Our meals were made fresh and tasted DELICIOUS. It's become our go-to place for tasty Peruvian chicken!

    (5)
  • Ken K.

I've become a regular at this place where the employees already know my order. This is the only Peruvian chicken place I go to for one reason only: the chicken. I've been to the other chicken places and some don't have yuca which for me is a turn off (my palate has those two linked). I kid you not, I have yet to have a dry piece of chicken from them yet. I don't know if they brine it or whatever but their chicken is always juicy and tender. Their chicken also has a nice rub not only on the outside but under the skin which imparts extra flavor. The only criticism is that you need a drink because you can taste the saltiness. I always get a Gatorade or something to help but I love this place. It is kinda hidden near the Guitar Center (behind it) but it's definitely worth the find.

    (4)
  • Tan T.

Very hard to find, kind of sketchy. They ran out of chicken and it was a 25 minute wait! Left and went elsewhere.

    (1)
  • Hee Jin B.

Came here on a sat night for dinner with friends. It was quite busy and after eating I could tell why. The chicken was delicious and for a good price. Their white and green sauces were quite good as well. I only wish their rice was better. Otherwise amazing, and I will definitely be back if I am in the area

    (4)
  • Matt J.

I didn't know this place would be so good nor authentic. Food is so good. People are friendly. Wish they were on front side of the building because I would have discovered it sooner. Great flavor on the chicken and it's juicy. Yucca is cooked to order so not soggy. Woohoo and not salty. You also get salad when you order a whole chicken dinner. Price is great too. I give the food a 5 star. Overall 4 stars because the atmosphere is so fast foodish! But it's all good because that's the idea. The food will make up for it.

    (4)
  • Hardip S.

One of the only Peruvian chicken spots near me, so I go here often. If there was competition in the area, not sure that I'd go Food is ok, but Service is horrible. The lady working the register is super rude. Also they are stingy with the sauces. Buy a quarter chicken, you get one sauce each. Buy a whole chicken, and you still just get one sauce. Makes no sense. And they charge you extra if you want more sauce. Really hope some competition for this place shows up soon

  • George C.

I stop by Wild Chicken every chance I get , grab my wife and I a full chicken for dinner and can hardly wait to get home ! The food is fantastic , the staff is friendly , place is clean , the price is right !! GO TO WILD CHICKEN !

    (5)
  • James H.

This place is great! I've been to a lot of rotisserie places, and the chicken here is one of the best, if not THE best. The sauces are excellent and thick. The fries and yucca are great. The staff is friendly. They have a great selection of Latina soft drinks, too.

    (5)
  • Kristine T.

It was difficult to find but worth it, though I think The Chicken Place in Falls Church is still best. The chicken was good but a little dry. I loved the yuca! May go back just for it tomorrow. All in all, this place satisfied my craving for Peruvian chicken and will come again when I'm in the area. Hate that you have to pay extra for more sauce-boo!

  • Christa F.

This restaurant is a little tricky to find, but you need to find it..... that said, turn into the entrance for Guitar World, then hang a left like you are going around the back side of the other strip mall building. It is right there at the back to your immediate left. This chicken is succulent and flavorful and I hoovered it up so quickly that I'm thinking about returning for dinner so that I can more accurately tell you all about it! The yuca was pretty good, but I bet it would have been fantastic if I had asked for it to be fresh from the fryer. There is no drink fountain, but there is a good selection of sodas and teas to choose from in the fridge. You can take away food, or eat there. My bet is on eating there because I would never make it home with the tantalizing aromas driving me crazy. The service is quick and efficient, the kitchen looks clean and well organized. Wild Chicken is going into my restaurant rotation hence forth!!

    (4)
  • Hannah A.

The place is not that much, but they really have amazing grill chicken. Also they have good yucca; I highly recommend to try it. And the people there are very nice

    (3)
  • Tanny D.

I love this place! It's a hidden gem (when I say hidden, Im not kidding, its kind of hard to find lol). Their chicken is great! Their fries/yucca are great! The two sauces it comes with (green and white) are so great with the chicken and fries. This is one of my favorite places ever! The service is good too, you get your food quite quickly. I would so give it a 5, if they cleaned up a bit. Either way, I'm a loyal customer.

    (4)
  • Karthik E.

The chicken flavor is great, the sides and dipping sauces are great too. My only gripe is they close early in the evenings and not too easy to get hold of.

    (4)
  • Bryan C.

My buddies and I have been eating here all the time for over ten years. They've also catered for me several times. Yummy food and friendly service without fail. Try it!

    (5)
  • Gabby V.

Its hard to compare the chicken to Pollo Rico but this is close as it gets. Wild Chicken has tasty Peruvian style chicken. This place is behind the For Eyes optical place which makes it hidden but its worth it when you find it.

    (5)
  • Dianet G.

Best Peruvian chicken! It is our go to source whenever we need to find something for dinner. It has a great taste and my daughters always say it is their favorite chicken. I usually get a whole chicken with yuca. Their white sauce is delicious. I can't say anything about their spicy sauce because it is too spicy for me. They have good white rice and beans. Their lomo saltado is hit or miss, but this is a chicken place. Yes they do occasionally run out of chicken, but then we go to their other location on Pickett. On a few occasions, the chicken has too much seasoning, but I don't expect perfection every time.

    (5)
  • Bob N.

The Best Chicken, Jerry. The Best!! That's right. This place has the best chicken I've ever had. The secret is out that Peruvian rotisserie chicken is the best. Places have been popping up in Northern Virginia for years. Someone tipped me off to this place. It's hard to see from the street, but it's in a little place behind Guitar Center. Evidently they've opened up another location somewhere closer to the beltway. To get to this place, we drive past probably half a dozen other Peruvian chicken places. It's a long drive from where we live, and the traffic in this area is horrendous any time of day, but it's worth it. Their chicken is THAT good. On their menu they also have a dish called "Lomo Saltado" which is usually fajita meat with tomatoes, onions with rice and some kind of sauce (I wish I knew what it was). Some people include French fries which is weird, but it works, and sometimes they top it off with a fried egg on top. I haven't had Lomo Saltado at this place, but I've had it at a place closer to home, and it's my favorite food.

  • L M.

Went here last weekend with the family and OH-MY-GOD, BEST-CHICKEN -EVVVVVERRRR!!!!! The flavor of the chicken here is the by far the best I've ever had in my life! I'm not exaggerating, really, I'm not! I don't know what they are doing here to make their chicken taste so darn good, but I am concerned that I'll never be happy with the stuff I make at home ever again. This place really raised the bar for what chicken can taste like. Also amazing is the green sauce. It's actually spicy (yay), and it has SOOOOO MUCH flavor, the yucca is amazing too! Yum factor 10!!!!

    (5)
  • Toni C.

Unfortunately never got to taste the food because I couldn't even find the establishment!!!!! Drove for 10 minutes still didn't find this awkward location.

  • Richard L.

For the most part I feel like all the good Peruvian Chicken places in NOVA have about the same quality of chicken (Pollo Rico, Super Chicken, etc.) and this is no different. Good flavor and juicy. So what really sets these joints apart are the sauces and the sides. The green sauce here was the best I've had. Usually they are pretty runny, but the green sauce here had more viscosity and made it a much nicer sauce to dip into. The "hotness" was just right as well. This place's yucca was fantastic--inside was moist and not dry, and the outside was perfectly fried. With that said, it's always a matter of getting freshly fried yucca, anytime you have yucca sitting out there for a while it's going to get that dried out texture on the inside.

One of my old standbys for lunch. I'm such a regular that when I walk through the door the Owners wife yells my order out to the cooks before I've said a word. The chicken is classic pollo a la brasa, with just the right amount of spices. It had a rich charcoal taste like all pollo a la brasa should. The service is quick, the food is hot, and delicious, what more could you want? Gus Fringe and his brother would be proud.

  • Madena S.

*sigh* I really had hopes for this place. Came in here a few days ago and had their chicken sandwich. Service was okay. I ordered to go and alas, they forgot my fries. I hadn't eaten all day and hoped the sandwich would be filling enough. Boy was I wrong. It was about a 7" sub, which ended up being $8 or so on its own, with no side - RIPOFF. It was HORRIBLE. The chicken was far too oily. Every bite tasted like oil. There was no real "chicken" flavor. Very dull, especially for a place that specializes in chicken. The worst part of all...the bread was soggy. How can you mess up the bread?! Couldn't even finish half of it, despite being super hungry.

    (1)
  • Virginia C.

Get half a chicken trust me you'll finish it. So much juice you'll need a bowl! Delish! I love to get half a chicken with Yuka (extra crispy) as my side. Usually not a big chicken fan as it is usually dried out but I approve of Wild Chicken it comes only second to Sardi's in my opinion but still worthy to be given a try! Cons: Location is really hard to find but when you do.. MmM yum! Pros: Chicken & Yuka cooked to perfection

    (4)
  • Sue c.

This is the best Peruvian chicken place I've been to. I know there are a lot of Peruvian chicken places (I wish there were even more!) but so far I have found that the chicken flavor, the sauces and the way the rice is cooked is the best at Wild Chicken. Wish they would deliver ;))))

  • Elizabeth D.

Tiny, hole-in-the-wall spot by Guitar Center. Order at the counter, then pick up and sit at one of about 12 tables. Interesting drink selections too. Service was really quick and friendly. I went with a the chicken sandwich combo. Juicy chicken on a soft hoagie roll with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and mayo. A few big fries on the side with two dipping sauces - the green is super spicy, the other a lemon aioli. Quick and delicious meal for less than $9.

    (4)
  • Melissa H.

Had the chicken sandwich combo with the fries. It was wonderful. The service was excellent and the chicken sandwich was excellent. I will be back.

Don't be fooled by the shady-looking entrance or the humble interior - wild chicken is open for business! Wild chicken serves the best peruvian chicken, and is probably the best secret in the fairfax area. You can't see the storefront from Lee Highway, you actually have to turn into the Guitar Center and make a slight curve around a dead-endish looking street. Let your nose be your guide! The smell of delicious, rotisserie chicken is wafting through the air as soon as you get out of your car. You can get a whole chicken, two salads and a container jam packed full of crispy, delicious yucca for $16.99. The meat is always slide-off-the-bone tender and succulent. We also decided to get the beans ... mmm mmm good. I think you really get the full bang for your buck here. At a meager $16.99 for a chicken AND sides, you could feed your whole family!

Anybody's who has ever tried Peruvian chicken has fallen in love with it. Without a doubt it's my absolute favorite way to prepare chicken and Wild Chicken seems to have perfected it. El Pollo Rico in Arlington is a long way to go, but when someone told me about Wild Chicken in Fairfax I had to try it out. It's located behind a shopping center next to Guitar Center on Rt. 29 near the intersection with Rt. 50. It's a small, unassuming place. You can eat in. It has basic seating. It's clean. Or you can take it out. But the chicken is fantastic! It's better than El Pollo Rico as far as I'm concerned. Think about it. It's behind a shopping center. You won't notice it if you drive by. I had been to Guitar Center dozens of times and never noticed it. The food MUST be fantastic for a place to survive in that location. And it is. There are different ratings for restaurant food. Some people use a scale of one-to-ten. Others use stars. For me I use a five point system: 1 - Bad - don't eat the food. Send it back. 2 - Not so Bad - You eat it but don't come back. 3 - Good - You eat it and enjoy it and come back another day. 4 - Really Good - You order extra to take home. 5 - Super Good - You lick the floss after you clean your teeth. Whenever we go to this place, we always get extra. Sometimes we'll get two full birds with all the trimmings just for the two of us. Even then it doesn't survive for a very long time in the fridge.

  • M. W.

I crave this place! Delicious food & a very hard-working staff! The chicken is ALWAYS fresh, taken write out of the oven, and is steaming hot! Don't get the fries (they're delicious), because the Yucca is out of this world! Plus the garlic sauce they add on the side is out of this world! Reasonable prices, about $7 for a box lunch (which includes half a chicken!). I love this place! It's sort of hard to find, but worth the trip!!

    (5)
  • Shannon A.

For $17.50 you get a whole roasted peruvian chicken, 2 salads and a whole bunch of yucca fries. Good deal and excellent, thick, crunchy and fluffy inside yucca fries. The place is a whole in the wall, behind a crappy strip mall, but worth the look if you want that elpolloloco chicken. Nice friendly people working there too.

    (4)
  • Christian C.

Food was just okay. If you are craving the basics (Peruvian chicken, yucca, boring salad) this place will do. Kinda hard to find if you didn't know before hand that is located in the back of the shopping center where you typically don't look unless you are a delivery truck looking for the loading dock. The only memorable thing was how friendly the guy was who rang me up. It was really slow when I came in and I think I interrupted his dinner with his family. Still, he seemed genuinely happy that I stopped by.

    (3)
  • Anna Y.

I think this place has pretty good Peruvian chicken but other people have said that you can get bigger portions at other peruvian chicken places. The white meat tends to be very dry so I usually ask for dark meat. The yuca and fries are good. I usually go for a combo deal which is a good price. However they charge a lot for drinks.

  • Kanye M.

If you live in Fairfax and have ever eaten a chicken and it wasn't here, then you are an idiot.

    (5)
  • Marty B.

I love this place! It's close to work and I go at least once a week. I can't speak for anything else, but the 1/2 chicken with yucca is wonderful! Likely the best Peruvian chicken I've ever had. It's best if you're lucky and it's hot off the rotisserie! Almost too hot to eat, but the flavor will make you work through the pain. Their green hot sauce is the bomb. But beware, it can vary in hotness from trip to trip. If you get a super hot version of the sauce and a hot-off-the-rotisserie chicken, the combination is blissful torture! The only downside is they can't handle a huge crowd, they can only cook so many chickens at once and they have a few in an oven staying warm. If they get hit by a crowd of say 40-50 at once (has happened during lunch) you may be out of luck.

Friendly staff, quick service, good food and tasty dipping sauces too. Recommended!

I found this place on yelp and clicked on their website. The website looked pretty good so I decided to go there for lunch with a colleague. When we got there, the place looked like a dump. However, we ventured in and this place was PACKED. It's like all the professionals in the area knew where to go to get some real deal peruvian chicken. The chicken itself was good but it wasn't great. The decor, if you can call it that, is definitely lacking and borderline unsanitary. However, if you want lots of chicken and fries, then boom, you've got Wild Chicken!

    (3)
  • Terri E.

I have taken out from this place a few times. Their chicken is absolutely delicious. Seems as if it has been marinated for a few days with cumin, vinegar, paprika , cilantro and much more. The only thing I wish they had were more side dishes they only offer fries and salad as far as I can remember.

  • Chris S.

Great for locals in Fairfax where the pollo places are not a dime a dozen. Comparing WC with the likes of EPR and Edys? Doesn't stand a chance. All this hoopla about the location being obsecure is wrong. Just follow the sign once you reach Guitar Center. All in all, place is ok. Alot of hispanic clientele visit. As for the food, ordered the full chicken with side salads and yucca. The yucca is bar none the best around. I will give them that. I will also give them credit for the speed of the meal. It came out hot, fresh, and quick! The chicken was a bit dry and too much seasonings for my palette. There were handfuls of rub found underneath some surfaces of skin. (not a good look) The green sauce was super spicy and the white sauce was just plain old mayo, DULL. But if you need a pollo fix in Funfax and do not want to get on the beast otherwise known as 66 to Arlington, give this wild card a try.

  • Jane C.

So this is what a friend of my mom's was talking about. This place is so tucked away, even though it's real close to where we live, I had to do some extensive searching on Google just to locate it. They should put up a more noticeable sign somewhere, been to the CVS next door so many times, never saw them once. They have some excellent chicken and delicious Yuca. Price is a bit on the expensive side, but nothing that'll break your wallet. Now that I know where they are, I don't have to drive all the way to Arlington for some pollo.

    (4)
  • Patrick T.

Wow, I just had half a chicken and it was so good I wish I ordered a full one, but that's just because my friend ate half of mine! We'll be back.

    (5)
  • Nick J.

This place serves legit Peruvian chicken. It is almost up there with Wild Chicken and El Pollo Rico in Arlington. Green sauce is also very good. Highly recommend this place for the rotisserie chicken. Never tried anything else. My only complaint would be sometimes the fries are under cooked.

    (4)
  • Josh H.

I haven't tried anything other than the chicken, so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. However, the chicken is very good. It's juicy and has good flavor. For less than $10 you can get a 1/2 chicken with a side and a couple of sauces. I'm a fan of mixing the two different sauces together.

    (4)
  • Paul T.

i've experienced way better chicken then this place..............ok

    (2)
  • Lance H.

Before I could even finish paying, lunch was ready for take-out! That kind of service is very rare. As far as Peruvian-style chicken joints go, this one is mediocre. Nothing that I would go out of my way for, but as long as I live next door, I'll stop in from time to time. Go with the yuka if you're as tired of french fries as I am.

    (3)
  • Alex A.

Chicken that makes the whole world disappear. The place is nothin special and the employees aren't particularly awesome, but the chicken is melting, flavorful and always quick

  • Josef K.

I want to write something detailed and witty, but I can't. This is just the best chicken on the planet, and I don't want to write anything to take away from that fact.

    (5)
  • Mai S.

Minimal atmosphere, but they have the best chicken! Perfectly seasoned and juicy. No sauces needed. The yucca and salad dressing are also good.

  • Tom N.

Good luck finding this place; it's closer to the Guitar Center than the CVS, and it's on the backside of this retail strip mall facing away from Lee Highway. White or dark meat quarter chicken are the same price, and they have few options other than just Peruvian chicken. It's also the only decent Peruvian chicken for miles around if you're in the area and short on time... Orders are prepared quick, and everything is good. I'll sometimes opt for chipotle across the street instead.

    (4)
  • Havar E.

This is as good as it gets. I would give it 5 stars if they would give me 1 chicken and all dark meat like Super Chicken... but it has a 5 star taste :)

  • Kelly M.

I work very close and in the summer when the doors are open, you can smell that intoxicating scent of the chicken cooking for a good distance around. The service has always been very nice and while it is difficult to find behind the shopping center, it's definitely worth the extra effort to discover it. The yucca is definitely some of the best that I have had and I always look forward to coming back here for lunch or grabbing something quick before I go home for the evening.

    (4)
  • Agnes L.

The chicken is delicious! The yucca is delicious! The food is the only reason why I'm giving this place any stars at all. The service here is the reason why I'm giving them only 2 stars. Although the food is great, I always feel like I'm being talked about and laughed at by the people who work there. And I feel like they purposely forget to give you salads and the sauces, which are supposed to come with the meals. My husband had to go back in twice after already paying for our order because they had "forgotten" to include the sauces, which complete the meal. When he did go in to tell them that and to ask for the sauces, the workers there wouldn't believe him for some reason and acted as if he was trying to rip them off. He even offered to pay for them even though they should be free. They eventually gave him some sauce. When I recently went over there to order and carry out some chicken, yucca, rice, and plaintains, they "forgot" the sauces again and didn't even give us our salads. While I was waiting for the food, they kept glancing my way and snickering, and then they laughed at a customer before me who commented that they had forgotten his salad as well. Why is it so funny to them that they're not giving us what we paid for? And they act like no one understands them just because they speak in Spanish to talk about their customers right in front of them. I took 5 years of Spanish and I'm sure several other customers have some Spanish language capabilities too, so in the future, I think the workers should refrain from making fun of customers in their language with the assumption that they won't get offended because they only speak English. If my husband and I ever do go back there, we will be checking the bags each time after payment, right in front of them, to make sure we got what we paid for.

I'm a huge fan of Peruvian-style chicken, so for me to give this place "only" 3 stars is saying something. Sure, it's better than a lot of other types of food you'd get at this price, but compared to other chicken places in the NoVA area, this is the weakest. The chicken here seems less flavorful and overly juicy in places (in a watery way). I've been here twice, but I don't see any reason to go back unless I happen to be at the nearby Guitar Center and a chicken craving hits me hard. El Pollo Rico in Arlington is the best in the area. Super Chicken near Tysons is also a step up. Wild Chicken would probably do the job if you don't feel like making the drive.

Good Peruvian style roast chicken. Sauce is hot and their service is friendly. Nice place to grab a quarter chicken, fries and a salad for a reasonable lunch price.

As others have mentioned, you really have to look for this place. I have driven past the sign for months, and couldn't see where the actual restaurant was. Finally, on the way home from work one day, I decided to check it out. The chicken is OK, the yucca is OK. There is nothing great about any of the food I've had here. I always get dark meat because it tends to be more moist and more flavorful. I was surprised at how dry it was here. I'll try to find somewhere else for my Peruvian chicken fix in the future.

I love this place! The place is a true whole in the wall, but that is what gives this place character. The chicken is amazing, the yuca is good and the sauces keep me wanting more. If you're looking for peruvian chicken, you must try this spot.

2.5 stars How silly of me to think I could get anything like EPR or Super Pollo in Fairfax. Sometimes Arlington pisses me off that they get so much good stuff (see: kabobs). Anyway, we came here for dinner one night, and that will likely be my final time here. Not that it was terrible, but the difference in quality (and price!) is enough to justify a drive to Arlington. For starters, the place is very obscurely located, way in the back of a shopping center. A tiny tiny sliver of a sign is all that directs you to it's secretive location. We went in and it was completely empty, which had me concerned. There were no cars around so I wasn't even sure that it still existed. We walked in and they were friendly as can be, but I was a little turned off by the price. $8 for a half chicken with rice? $14 for a whole chicken combo? And then add in a premium to get yucca? It made more sense to split a whole chicken dinner so we got that with fried yucca. For any who think I'm just being cheap, I can get 1/2 a chicken with TWO very hearty, and much better tasting, sides at Super Pollo for right around $7. Or even an entire rotisserie chicken at Giant for $6. To pay more money for half the food better be worth it. The chicken came out and seemed so petite. The flavor was there, but the breast was dry. Heck, even the dark meat wasn't that moist. And wow was this a small breast. This was the Debra Messing of chickens and left me wanting more. Even after half a chicken and a side of crappy yucca, I was still very hungry. I'd expect a bit more for $8.50+ a head. Easily the highlight of the meal were the sauces. The green sauce was spicy and the white sauce went perfectly with the chicken. Perhaps the food is better closer to a lunch rush and maybe dinner isn't the best time to come. Who knows. If I'm in the area at a more prime time and find myself needing chicken, I'd consider stopping back in. But if I'm really craving peruvian chicken I'll most likely put forth the effort to go into Arlington.

I should preface this review by saying that i have absolutely No experience with any form of peruvian chicken. I have nothing to compare it to, so my review is based 100% on this single experience with peruvian chicken. That being said... this place was unimpressive. First off... its difficult to find. If i didn't have catlike vision (aka pure dumb luck), i never would have seen the small sign saying "In back: Wild Chicken". It is also conviently located next to a gym, in case you need to work our before/after you indulge. We opted for the whole chicken dinner, which came with fries and a salad. My date sprung the extra $1 and got the yuca. Despite the fact that they were near closing, the food came out prompt and nice and warm. My overall impression of the chicken was that it had good flavor, but i could have used it to be a little more moist. I dont know fi that was because it had been sitting for a while or something, but the white meat was definitely dry. I also did not like the lack of metal silverware. Trying to be a lady (i was on a date!), meant i didn't want to use my hands/fingers. Well with plastic silverware, it was virtually impossible to pick out all the chicken. I did not do a good job at all. I was kinda disappointed in the salad (aka lettuce w/ some italian dressing) and the yucca. I'm sure i would like yucca in general but i wasn't a huge fan. I did however really like the white sauce that came with it to dip in. It was good for both teh chicken and the yucca, but the portions of it were small. Overall it was a great meal and not too expensive (like $17 for both of us with drinks) but it definitely got me excited to try more peruvian chicken places!

I've had peruvian chicken before, but blindly ordered from this place to cater a church event. $161 to feed ~30 people. I haven't had pollo campero, but this was pretty good. The yucca fries were excellent, plantains solid, and the chicken was on spot. Well seasoned and juicy. The manager, Wilder?, took care of the order and everything. I'm definetely planning on making a solo visit to this place in the future.

Best rotisserie Chicken in the area. If your the type that thinks Boston Market is 'good', then you need to wake up and hit one of these non-chain places for the 'good stuff'. Anyone who ranks Edys over WC is loco. Edys chicken is always dry, while WC is perfect! The beauty of WC is the simplicity of the menu. They pretty much do Chicken, a chicken sandwich (my favorite!), a few sides and some daily specials. I like the location because it is kinda hidden, and your not waiting in a long line like most lunch places. I wish for their sake they would get a better visibility location, because this place is so good and the employees so friendly, that I wish them the success they deserve!

WILD CHICKEN is HIDDEN behind the shopping center. Look for the small sign! Prices on their website are not accurate, they've raised their prices but haven't updated the website. The chicken is not bad. breast was tender and juicey. flavor was aight but for some reason when i got an initial whiff of the chicken, it reminded me of middle aged man BO. just a hint of it. but maybe my nose is crazy. yucca fries were not that good. plaintains were good. i like it enough to order take out for dinner bc we don't live too far from it.

Surprisingly good! We all know about that place in Arlington. Well, this is not quite as good but better than expected. During our first visit, we got a freshly done chicken right out of the rotisserie and it was very flavorful. The second visit was also good, although the chicken has been cooked probably for a little while. About $15 for a chicken and 2 small sides is not a bargain but we don't have to drive all the way to Arlington. We went to the new location on Pickett Road and not the one on Lee Hwy. Update: This is an update of my earlier review. The chickens here taste good. It seems the secret ingredient is SALT! Way too salty! I still like this place but after serveral times eating here I find the chicken is consistently too salty.

Good food, but orders are not always delivered correctly. Everything else is great. ESPECIALLY the yucca. The owner, Wilder Sanchez, is exceptionally friendly and provides good customer service.

Tasty chicken. Fries are not crispy and not that good. You can order just the chicken which is consistent. Yucca OK. Would be better if one could simply order a half a chicken with no sides and save the $2.00. Don't order the rice. Consistency of paste.

Delicious chicken but worse than horrendous service. They really nickel and dime you on the price, and the overall experience is poor. We've been here three times now. I've eaten at most of the Peruvian chicken places in the area -- my favorites being El Pollo Rico and Peruvian Chicken & Steak. We happened to see this one while passing the Guitar center, and tried it out. Loved the chicken, but I'm rating this place based on its service, because it's bad enough to bring down the reputation of the whole establishment, regardless of the quality of the food. Experience 1: We paid the $14 for a meal, and wanted Plantains as our side. Cashier just told us plainly, no. Each side costs the same, so why we couldn't substitute plantains for Yuca, we didn't understand. We mumbled under our breath about the service, and then bit into the chicken. Just fantastic. Terrible service forgiven... for now. Experience 2: I went in to pickup just the chicken. Instead of getting screwed on the meal price, I decided I wanted only the chicken. As I grabbed my chicken, I checked for the sauce. No sauce. "Can I get some sauce please?" The guy behind the register told me that no sauce came with it. I just stood there, confused, staring at him, until he finally threw one sauce packet into my chicken bag. "One small sauce packet for a whole chicken?" He then explained to me that there was no sauce because I was getting just the chicken, and not the meal. I was miffed, threw down another $1 and bought 5 more tiny sauce packets. Swore under my breath as I walked out about how cheap they were. Once I got home, I bit into the chicken, and boy, is that chicken delicious. So nice and juicy. Experience 3: "One whole chicken meal please -- dark meat only, with fries, and we'll pay for some extra sauce". We walked in ready to take it in the rear on pricing because we loved the taste of the chicken so much. The cashier rung it up, and after taking our money, informed us that she had made the decision to give us one piece of white meat and 3 pieces of dark meat. I told her that this was not what we ordered, since when we paid, we had requested dark meat only. After threatening to not take the whole meal, she relented, and told the cook to swap out the white meat piece for a dark meat piece after another minute. I honestly don't understand why I haven't been able to go into this joint, pay for my meal, receive the meal I ordered, and eat it without running into some service issue. If you're the owner, I beg you to take strides now to improve your policies and your service.

My sister got take out for my family of five - it was about $30? Anyway, it was my first time trying Peruvian chicken but it was SO good! Very juicy and so much flavor. We also got the yucca fries and plantains (yummm) and I love the verde dipping sauce. The salad with the tangy dressing was a nice addition. I'm sure if we had this in Seattle, it'd be a big hit!

I know good Peruvian chicken and this place is legit. This is the first time I've been to WC and I wouldn't call it my favorite yet, but for now it's a great runner up. The chicken is great, moist and tender. The yucca is nice, hot and crispy. The green sauce has a nice kick, the white is good but not the best I've had. The salad is pretty good but they use Italian dressing which is okay for me.

Peruvian chicken at a convenient location in downtown Fairfax. Yes, it takes a little bit of time to find it the first time (just remember it's behind CVS, and next to curves). The place is always clean and the service is friendly and fast. The food is awesome, always fresh and tasty. My favorite item is the Chicken Sandwich (not the healthiest but hey...you gotta live a little). Like any other peruvian place, the fries, yuca, sauses are just great. I've been taken here for my birthday and I've taken friend there for their birthdays. Edy's Chicken and Steak used to be the best peruvian chicken in the area but I've heard things have gone downhill. Nowadays, Wild Chicken could as well be one of the best or the best. Try it ! PS: They are now taking credit cards.

Good start to great Peruvian cuisine. Kind of a nice hideaway that's common to a lot of the more ethnic restaurants around the area, which to me, actually adds to the appeal a little more. Good prices too.

The chicken here is SO juicy, perfectly prepared, and well seasoned. The yuca frita (yuca fries) are to DIE for! I wish this place wasn't so hidden, but it has been in existence for over 5 years... so all that know of this place, have definitely supported this venue over the years! :)

I'm going to start trying every Peruvian chicken place within driving distance. How else can I deal with the boredom of work? My standard for Peruvian chicken (even though technically, it's not completely Peruvian) is Edy's Chicken and Steak. The chicken here is not as good as Edy's but it's still good. In line with my carnivorous needs, I took on a whole chicken myself. The fries were nice and crispy. I wasn't in the mood for yucca. The salad had an interesting "Italian" style oil and vinegar dressing. I thought the white sauce was ok, but the green sauce wasn't all that great, especially considering I really like the sauces at Edy's. To sum this one up, I would eat here again, but I wouldn't go out of my way. This place is a good option if you live close by and want some quick non-fried chicken. I will definitely have to try some of their specials. This place is hard to find. It's behind the Weber's Pet Store next to the Guitar Center. I tried following my nose trying to sniff out the location only to end up driving in cicles for a few minutes.

My husband loved the 1/4 chicken with yucca. It was soooo cheap and he thought it was great. The plantains were good too. The place is kind of hard to find b/c it's in the back of the shopping center behind Weber's and Bray and Scarf. The only thing I did not like about it was that they used styrofoam cups, plates, etc. Who uses styrofoam anymore? It's bad for the environment and unpleasant to eat on! At least use paper plates and cups!

mmmmm juicy charboiled peruvian style chicken with yucca chips. This place is awesome! I am not much of a chicken fan, but I have to say that this place has got some very juicy and flavorful chicken. The half chicken is a pretty decent size (even for two people), so if you're gonna eat by yourself I'd recommend the 1/4 chicken meal. Get the yucca chips as a side too, they're AWESOME. Perfect texture and just sweet enough. The place is located behind the main shopping center that Guitar Store is in off of Lee hwy (can't see it from the main road). You've literally got to drive around to the back of the building to find the place. And yes I can also confirm that this place also takes credit card.

I have read the reviews on the restaurant. I want to go on record that most Peruvian places do not take pride in their Salad. The fulfillment of the local restaurant is the flavor of the chicken and the sauces that they serve with them. Additionally a great plus here is the Yuca(I call them south american french fries) that you get with the order of chicken.

I eat here on a pretty regular basis due to the wonderfully seasoned chicken and fresh yuca. Been at other Peruvian chix joints, and this is one of my top three. Just check it out.

I love wild chicken! I've been twice and my Peruvian coworker brings me some of her extra chicken which I lover her for! The whole chicken fed my family and more the meals are a little confusing to order but def yuca and plantains are a must! The rotisserie chicken sandwich Is so amazing and I'm glad my boyfriend opened my eyes to it! The sandwich is pretty big i ate half, and had delish leftovers later. Although the sandwich comes w fries i suggest the yuca, even thoni haven't indulged in their fries, but who can resist yuca! And both the green and white sauce add a little bit more perfection to anything and everything at wild chicken!

It's definitely not Super Pollo (sshh! they don't like to be compared), but it'll do for suppressing poultry cravings. First of all, the location is not that hard to find. Just because something is not jumping and screaming at you does not mean it's difficult or takes extreme effort to locate. Simply turn when you see the Guitar Center and follow the road to the back. Like magic, there WC be. I'm a boob gal, so I stick with the white meat. I upgraded (because I's classy like that) and also got the yucca as well as a side of plantains. The chicken was good, not great. Well seasoned and juicy, though it was definitely fast approaching the dry spectrum. The yucca was great; crispy and delicious. The plantains were the big disappointment. I had never sampled them before but have heard others rave about the pseudo-banana so I gave it a try. To me, these were tasteless. Maybe I was too full to really taste much or they really just have no flavor. I dunno. I'd try them again, but my initial impression is "meh." The sauces were both good and standard fare for Peruvian Chicken. The place itself is spotless. You could eat off the floor it's so clean. The staff was very friendly and even brought my food to my table. They also have self-serve fountains, as opposed to most PC joints that sell bottles, which is great for thirsty people such as myself. Bonus: If you go at night, there's a fairly good chance you'll run into some of FCPD finest that frequent the place. Strip search, anyone?

We have Peruvian Style Rotisserie Charcoal Chicken in Fairfax!!! *happy dance* Apparently Wild Chicken has been there, hiding from me for a couple of years. The location is bad - behind the Guitar Center - near CVS, WSC on Lee Hwy. This is truly a "Mom and Pop" operation. Be forewarned - they are cash only! I had to run (and I did run) to the ATM @ CVS. This might not be quite as good as those P. Chix places found in Arlington but WHATEVS - this place is in mine!!! Wild Chicken offers the standard combo meals - the green sauce is amazing - plantain, beans - I'm in heaven! They even have some daily specials that look yummy but the chicken is soooo good. Friday - Seco de Carne "beef stew cooked in cilantro sauce and spices, served with beans and rice" There are plenty of tables for eating in. I took mine home. My car was filled with the tantalizing aroma. By the time I got home my head was swimming and I ripped into the bag like an animal. I tell ya, it must not have been a pretty sight! I urge people in the Fairfax area to go check Wild Chicken out. My biggest fear is that now that I found them, they'll go out of business. Please, please, please don't let that happen!

First of all, this place has the cutest mascot ever- a cute caveman/cavewoman chicken! Adorable! Peruvian chicken is good. It just is. I love it. Wild Chicken's chicken is great, well seasoned and tasty. I really enjoyed it. The restaurant is somewhat hidden in the back of the building, but we found it pretty easily.

The pollo, or chicken, was tasty! So was the price. :-) I wouldn't recommend eating inside. This is food that deserves to be enjoyed once you are out of there and in the comfort of anywhere else - car included, I'm sure. But, mmmm...the green and white sauces are yummy for my tummy! The customer service was not super. I do speak Spanish, but the "vibe" the people put off did not even make me feel like communicating beyond the exchange of cash. Oh yeah...and be sure to take JUST cash. There is no other method of payment accepted.

Went in at 1:30 on a Saturday. My order was ready so fast the clerk hadn't even finished telling me what yuca is. So, obviously it was my first time eating Peruvian chicken. It was fantastic. My husband dove in bare-handed, dipping fries and chcken into the sauces and the juice in the container. The green sauce will burn your face off, and I think the main ingredient in the white sauce is crack cocaine. Everyone is right, the place is a bit hidden, but at least there's plenty of parking.

    (4)
  • Jeff C.

This is as bare-bones as it gets. The menu is chicken. Last time I was there they only one "choice" for a side, fires (used to have yuca). The prices are good and the chicken, while not the best, is still very good. Given its terrible location (zero visibility) the fact that it has remained in business this longs should tell us all that they are doing something right with the food.

    (4)
  • Nick M.

The chicken was pretty delicious, but not quite as juicy as super chicken normally is. Seasoning was a little different but equally delicious. The prices aren't that great so I'm not sure what other posters are talking about and they either don't have or screwed up when I asked for fried rice. All in all, I'll continue to eat there because I can walk there from my home.

The chicken was really good... juicy, seasoned well. The yuka was awesome. You can tell the cuisine is authentic. A little overpriced, but that's ok.

Food: 5 stars Location & Ambiance: 2 stars Customer Service: 4 stars Overall Rating: 4 stars Recommend?: Yes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have never been a fan of white meat chicken...until today. Wild Chicken is now officially the ONLY place I will ever order it. I ordered the 1/4 chicken combo, which comprised of a side salad and vinaigrette dressing, chicken breast and wing, green and white sauce, and your choice of fries or yucca. Normally I stay away from white meat because it tends to be dry and tasteless. At Wild Chicken, I was very surprised at how juicy, moist, and full of taste the meat was. It was doused in various herbs and spices and charbroiled to savory goodness. The portion, despite it being only a quarter of a whole roast, was very generous. I'm a pretty big eater and was slightly disappointed that I couldn't finish all the meat on the breast (mind you I was starving prior to buying the food). I further indulged myself by ordering the yucca chips instead of the fries. These slices of yucca were very crispy, slightly salted with a hint of sweetness, and not greasy to the touch. As other reviewers have commented on, the restaurant can be quite the adventure to find. It's located in the rear of the West Fair Shopping Center (the first building after passing CVS). There's a road between the Shopping Center and the other building with the Guitar Center store in it (no traffic light) that dead end's and forces you to turn left. As soon as you turn you'll see the big green lit sign for the restaurant. The only ambience you'll get from the interior is the overwhelming scent of rotisserie chicken. Otherwise, don't count on seeing any sort of charm and decor. The service was also very quick and courteous. I was in and out within 2 minutes tops.

Been here twice for dinner take-out, the 2nd time, the plaintains were terribly overcooked and chicken dry. It always seemed reasonably busy, but I wish they'd take care to not to overcook their food. I'm sure it would be ten times better since the spices are good.

    (2)
  • Sandra A.

The service is terrible. I order take-out from this place and my order has been incorrect the last 3 out of 4 times. They have even gotten my dine in order wrong although not as often. I speak Spanish, order in person, and confirm that the reciept is right but they still get the order wrong almost every time which tells me that they don't care about customer satisfaction or repeat business. I made the mistake of not checking my order today after they put it in the bag because he repeated the order back to me after I paid. When I called to complain, the young man was nonchalantly apologetic. The food is good but not great. I keep thinking they'll get it right so I keep giving them opportunities to earn my business again but today was the last time! I will not go back again. And almost always there is an unpleasant odor in the restaurant which you'll smell after sitting for a few minutes if you are dining in. They are kind of a trainwreck and seem not care about their business. There are other much better options!!

About 3 months ago my boyfriend and I were shopping at guitar center in fairfax..we started talking about what to eat for lunch..the guitar center employee told us there was this great peruvian chicken joint right next store, we decided to try it out. man-o-man..the chicken is great, and the sauce...mmm..im salivating just thinking about. My boyfriend and I go about once a week now. The owners are great, they always know what we want, right when we walk through the door. For awhile we were just eating the chicken until I saw someone eating a sandwhich...I dont know what kind of cheese they melt over those things, but damn- delicious. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who likes to eat quality food at an affordable price. You'll totally go "Wild" for this chicken.

I usually eat at el pollo peruvian chicken place in arlington but i didnt want to travel that far so i found this place. Wild chicken is a good imitation of el pollo. The chicken was tender and juicy. There were not a lot of sides to choose from. I wanted rice but they didnt have it when i went. The fries were good but greasy. The plantains were okay. I would probably go again if i get lazy but i prefer the other place over this one.

Great Peruvian chicken! I give this place high ratings for a great take out chicken option. Fries and sauce are great. Chicken portions are huge and tastes great. The flavor is a little strong and leaves a bit of an after taste but if you like Peruvian chicken you will like it. Location is a little hard to find, in the back of a strip mall. I prefer this over KFC or Popeyes.

I read all the reviews of Wild Chicken and decided to give it a try. I went half an hour before closing on a Saturday night. When I first arrived, no one was there at all. The chicken breast was huge and juicy. The skin could have been more crispy. I got the yucca based on recommendations from the other reviews. However, I found it dry and tasteless-like cardboard. Next time, I will try a different side. Overall, the chicken was pretty good-but NOT nearly as good as The Chicken Place near 7 corners.

Good peruvian chicken. Got a whole chicken for the family last Saturday afternoon. The chicken was a little spicier than Pollo Rico in Arlington and some other places I've been to in Woodbridge (I like that). I'd love to try the chicken sandwich. Hard to find (behind the small shops next to Guitar Center), but I will definately be back.

My first time trying Peruvian charcoal rotisserie chicken and I have to say that I'm a huge fan. For $11.00 I got a half chicken, with yuca fries, a salad (with some sort of italian dressing) and a soda. Chicken is heavily seasoned with a little spice, plenty of salt and a few herbs. The white and dark meat are both juicy and the skin in crunchy and delicious. The Yuca fries went really well with the white sauce and the spicy, jalapeno green sauce went well with the chicken. I would highly recommend this place if you want a healthier alternative to fast food for a quick lunch. If you can find it.

WC is a good substitute when I'm jonesing for some chicken but can't make it out to Arlington for some crax (El Pollo Rico). They offer Yuca and throw in a salad. I just wish there was a chicken place closer to Fair Lakes. I wonder how much their business suffers from being in the back of a strip mall. Most times when I go in there for dinner, it is fairly empty. Perhaps their primary business is take out...

  • Raymond M.

ok, so this place is so divey, your blind date would freak out driving up to the place at night. if it weren't for the small sign leading you behind the strip mall, you wouldn't know the restaurant ever existed. anyway, the chicken is awesome at times and too spicy (not peppery spicy, but spice-ey) at other times. i guess mixing the spices in-house leads to this inconsistency. aside from that, my quarter-darks have always been exceptionally tender and juicy; the yucca fries done just right; and their aji's, especially the green one, are the best. the service is fast, but i've never seen the place super busy. in any case, don't expect any smiles behind the register. they're curtness gets the job done right. also, the fair mixture of day-laborers along with professional techno-suburbanites lend to the ambience of authenticity with modern appeal. i'm not saying the PAB is authentic as i'm not peruvian, but i'm talking about the atmosphere. anyway, it'll be interesting to see how this joint stands out with all the hipster joints popping up around the corner.
