I went to GMU, and for 3 years I ate every Sunday dinner at Viet House. Loved it so much, I sometimes came during the week too! Not only is it great, simple pho - its also extremely consistent! Every bowl tastes just like the last. This isnt a glamorous spot at all, but its always full of people! Even now living in NYC, I come back to VA and make sure we stop at Viet House every trip!

I am so disappointed after hearing many good things about this place. My company ordered the rice dish that came with shredded pork, house cake, and pork barbecue. Halfway through our meal, she discovered a patch of BLUE MOLD in her rice. We immediately called over our server and asked to speak to the manager. We quietly informed him (as not wanting to cause a disturbance) about the predicament and he gave sheepish look, offering us a discount and walking away soon afterwards. We were stunned. We sat there for almost half an hour, waiting for an apology in vain. Only after calling him over once again and complaining more adamantly did he give a short sorry and walk away. I do understand that things like this can happen, and that is why we did not want to make a big deal out of it, but it is only proper that someone apologizes for the mistake instead of hastily dismissing it and only addressing the monetary aspect. Other than this, the restaurant itself is average. The food was mediocre, ambiance nonexistent, and prices are more expensive than those of other Vietnamese restaurants. Service by our original server was fine, but the way this problem was handled was a huge turn off. I can confidently say that we are never coming back again, there are many other places in NoVA that can do a much better job.

Below average pho shop. - Ambiance: No music, not a friendly atmosphere, the workers all looked unhappy, which harshed my meal time vibe - Pho Broth: It tasted watered down and cinnamon-y. Came here on a rainy cold day and I still didn't feel like it really hit the spot after I finished my bowl. - Portions: Decent. My family and my meat portions were pretty small though in all our pho bowls. - Service: The food came out pretty fast but the servers were just rude and looked unhappy and just ugh blah blah. The owner I think was just miserably standing and staring while we were eating too. There are so many other better pho places especially in this NOVA region that you shouldn't opt out for this. I personally think Pho Duong in centreville is way better with cheaper prices.

I placed a large to-go order for several vermicelli bowls. Service was fine (it's a pho restaurant...just keep that in mind). Typical menu and fair prices. I was just a little disappointed in the quality of the ingredients in the vermicelli bowls. I've had better elsewhere--the grilled meats were not as tasty, the vegetables were not as fresh (both visibly and in terms of taste), and I didn't receive any carrots (there appears to be carrots in another photo on Yelp). The fried rice was pretty bad too, extremely bland. We did get a pho, though, and that tasted on point. So I recommend sticking to the pho here.

Great pho and fast service. The pho is on point and the meat is good quality. We also ordered the bon bue he and it was good. Very deep broth.

Out of all the pho places, this is the oldest one and definitely a pretty good place. Their food has been consistent and the brother is rather clean. I really like their vermicelli bowl and the portions are pretty good. I would recommend this place for sure.

A-OK. Nothing exceptionally amazing happening here, just a consistent quality of food that you can count on, hands down. The atmosphere is laid back and easy-going, there are a few tvs to catch the current sports on the walls but they keep the noise level to a minimum so you can actually hold a quiet conversation with someone if you wanted. This place just has your standard pho and standard dishes and actually is a little bit pricer than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Not bad, not the best, but consistent in a pinch.

So my boyfriend decided to take me this place to try instead going to Eden like every weekend. I thought okay, trying something new and lets see if this is going to be any different compared to other vietnamese restaurant in Eden. This one is located in Fairfax on Lee Highway near Fair Oaks Mall. So either take Route 66 or Braddock Road would be a good idea. This restaurant located in a small shopping center but parking lot is huge so finding parking shouldn't be a big concern. We arrived around 12pm for lunch and oh boy it was packed for this little restaurant. Luckily they had one last table left for us and we sat there right away. I ordered bun thit nuong cha gio and my boyfriend ordered bun bo hue. The one I ordered was really big portion that I couldn't finish it. I had to ask my boyfriend to eat some for me. They gave you a lot of meats and veggies which is a good thing I guess. The bun bo hue apparently is still new to this restaurant, so it was okay. It wasn't that spicy like it suppose to. The flavor wasn't rich so I wouldn't recommend to try that. The price is definitely overpriced for this vietnamese restaurant. Small bowl of pho is like 7.95 and small was literally really small. I also ordered suong sa hot lout and it was nasty. Do not order that. The service was okay, just like every other vietnamese restaurants. It wasn't that great. they rarely come back to check on us nor even refill our water. Overall I wouldn't come back to try other items on the menu since I can definitely get all these somewhere else with cheaper prices. Way cheeper. If you do want to try this place, i would recommend just try to bun thit nuong or cam tam, they are worth the price but not the pho part. Unless you can't eat a lot and willing to pay the price then be my guest. Also, they do accept credit card so no worries on remember to bring cash.

Wanted to write an update because I've probably eaten here at least 5-10 times since my first review and wanted to off-set some of the bad reviews about this place. I have honestly never had a bad encounter here. The service is always nice and they are always great with refills. I do a lot of take-out and they don't put sriracha in the bags to begin with but I ask for a few to-go containers and they have never made me pay extra for it. This is me and my bf's go-to place in Fairfax and I think its service is a lot better than any of the places I've been to recently. We usually come for dinner and its never usually crowded and our food comes out quickly, if that helps anyone (we also usually only get pho and egg rolls so I know that will come out quicker vs other items).

Been coming here for years. Quick, delicious food. Vermicelli bowl is the best thing since sliced bread.

Outstanding Pho, clean and bright place I am very impressed with this Pho discovery. I am a huge fan of shrimp pho. A competitive place in the same neighborhood was going down in cleanness and service and I happen to discover this place by accident. It is located across now closed Kmart in a rustic and cute shipping plaza. Shrimps are plenty in the large size order and sufficient for a hungry man. I also tried fresh shrimp rolls and fried meat rolls. They also tasted great. Finished all up with avocado bubble tea. Perfect and inexpensive eatery for us the local Fairfax Folks. See some of my photos. I like to try other dishes next time. And will update this review as needed. Stay tuned.

Great little Vietnamese spot! Easy to get in and out of the parking lot, if you have a large group I suggest calling ahead and ordering if you're on a time limit, my coworkers and I like to go for lunch and we have about an hour to get in and out. The vermicelli bowl is the best I've ever had, they cut up egg rolls and place them around the bowl, delish!!!

One of the rudest waiter I've come across in a while. He had a lot of attitude for someone his size, perhaps he couldn't control his Napoleon complex today? I gave him my order, and he accused me that I did not and stood there arguing with me and being confrontational. A little taken back only because I thought I was in a restaurant, not some ghetto back alley eating pho. Don't come here if you expect smiles or any kind of service.

Really bad service and management. We drove 30 mins to Viet House hoping to have a good meal with family. We ordered soft rolls (goi cuon), "pho"and "bún bò". In the picture on the menu, a soft roll has 4 pieces of shrimps but what they actually brought out had only 3 pieces. They can get sued for false advertising. Pho and Bún Bò's broth was not hot because instead of using a ceramic bowl they used a cheap plastic bowl and didn't even heat up the bowl to keep the soup hot, and the meat was plain with no sweetness from fresh meat. I asked a server to heat up my bun bo again. He took it back in and never returned it, my family finished their meal but my bowl was not brought back until we asked for it. The server brought it out and said sorry. The noodles absorbed the water and expanded, which had too little broth left. The broth was cold; I wondered if they even heated it up or just left it in the kitchen and brought it back out. We told the manager, he said "Let me check" then charged us the full price. REALLY??? We were still being charged for the terrible quality bowl of bun Bo? This place doesn't know how to give even a standard compensation/service and is greedy. It was my favorite restaurant and I hate to say that I and my family WILL NEVER go back there again. Very disappointing!!!!!

Pho is quite tasty. Good meat and a decent amount. The restaurant itself seems clean and kept nicer than other pho places. Customer service was good as well. I'd come back for pho here if I were ever in the area

Well I've been eating Phó for about I don't know like 15yrs. I must say they are always consistent. The vermicelli bowl is a great summertime treat. I like the fact they have other options other than just phó. The crispy rolls are tasty but a tad on the greasy side still good! They also have a variety of other options that aren't pho. Give them a try if you are near by.

Horrible service through Eat24. Waited over two hours for delivery only to find out our order was never made because the restaurant lost the order ticket. The food is "okay" but their soup tastes like soap. Won't order and eat here ever again.

  • Darren N.

A typical Vietnamese restaurant. You know, the one where you sit down, get handed a menu and then immediately asked what you want to order. I had the vermicelli bowl which came in a huge bowl and was filled to the top! It was good and filling. The side of broth I ordered on the side was flavorful as well. As for the decor, it was very green. Not the save the earth kind of green, but the color green (tables, chairs, walls). Something I couldn't help but notice.

This place is average thus the 3. A-OK. THe service was fast, the place was clean but the pho was average. I got the pho with flank steak and i asked for it SUPER RAW and this has got to be the first place where they literally came out completely raw and the soup was steaming hot...++++ for this. On the other hand, the summer rolls were very average---the pork meat was super dry and u could barely taste it so they definitely skimped on the meat. The soup IS very clean, but this is going ot sound weird, but something just didn't taste right. It was either too peppery or just too much MSG. I couldn't put a finger on it, but it wasn't amazing. Still, very very clean pho broth. Definitely a get in, get out type of place, service was friendly.

Did the owner change at Viet House? Viet House had really good service before but lately, it's been so bad. 1) One night I went and they didn't have basil, no apologies or whatever. 2) Noodles were overcooked, I think the chef tried to make Pho podrrige. 3) They push for sales a little too much. 4) The Asian guy with dark skin looks upset all the time now, it scares me. 5) While I was eating, a waitress took the sauces to fill them up and never brought them back. She just completely reached out for them with no excuse me or whatever. It was 40 minutes BEFORE closing time. 6) There is an old lady standing there, staring at you with a frown on her face. Is that necessary? I am sad because I used to be Viet House fan... And I hate Pho Today (the one across). I'll just drive to Viet Crystal from now on...

I think they upped their prices, Pho seems so much cheaper in Arlington. Maybe it's just me. Our lunch came to $20 for two large bowls of pho and one soda. It's good, I mean it's hard for pho to be bad. I think I like it better than Pho Today across the street. Both are pretty average though.

    Great vermacelli bowl!

  • AL K.

used to enjoy this place till they started to taste different from what it was. Portions were obviously downsized. summer rolls has less filling and the peanut sauce has been watered down since the consistency is less thick. the meat toppings on their grilled orders has also been lessened. the broth is too salty for me and it seems like its loaded with msg. Overall, they have gone from ok to bad to worst.

I always get the same thing: vermicelli bowl with roast pork and sliced spring rolls. Don't forget the sweet sauce. Delicious! Take out or eat in, Viet House is quick and cheap.

Very average PHO in the Fairfax, Fairlakes area. I go to Viet house because of its location/convenience. I do not see a lot of Vietnamese that go there, mostly koreans, which means its very average!!!

The boyfriend and I walked over here for lunch while his car was getting serviced at the dealership nearby. The summer rolls were okay. I got the grilled pork bun, and the portion was pretty big. It wasn't bad but I've definitely had better. The boyfriend liked his pho, but I didn't even try his broth because I thought it smelled funny. He enjoyed it but now that I've read other people's reviews, it makes sense that people noticed something funny about the broth. Otherwise, the service was fast and our waters were always promptly refilled. I like the sign they have on the door on your way out--it says, "We'll See You Again." It almost sounds like a threat! Well, I don't think they'll be seeing me again...unless we get stuck at that dealership again around lunch time.

  • Justin S.

pho is ok. but its a bit more expensive than most places around here. it is almost $10 for a large bowl of pho. other pho places are $7-$8. the waiters there are very lazy and is sitting most of the time. It's hard to even get their attention to get a water refill

    (2)
  • Charlotte W.

The staff is very friendly and the food comes fast! The pho is pretty decent, but my favorite is the Vermicelli bowl, have yet to find one better!

I frequented the original restaurant up until they opened this restaurant which was closer to my house. All was well in the beginning, but for the past year or two, something tastes different. I only get pho here, so I can't really comment on much else that's served here. It tastes almost soapy. I'm not sure if the veggies are getting washed in soap, if the bowls aren't being rinsed properly or what, but it seriously tastes like soap. The first time it tasted like that, I thought it might have been an anomaly but I went again at a different time a few months later and it still tasted that way. I probably wont go back again since I'm pretty sure it made me kinda sick.

Not much to say except this is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Fairfax. I come for the vermicelli. Their vermicelli is the best in town. If I were to ever move away from Fairfax, this restaurant would be one of few I would come back to eat at.

This Viet House serves very good Vietnamese food. You get a lot of food and the value is pretty good. Very quick service as well.

This is our family favorite PHO place. It also happens to be near our home, so we go quite often when we don't feel like cooking and need healthy, filling, delicious food. There are only a couple of things on the menu, so basically go for the PHO, but there are 20 different kinds. They also have spring rolls which we always get. They have a child size bowl and my daughter is a big fan too - fun to get the noodles out with the chop sticks.

  • Kate S.

This was my first experience with Pho. I ordered the Vermicelli Bowl from the vegetarian menu, but they brought out a dish with pork on it. Apparently the two dishes have the same name, and the staff didn't seem to think that was their problem-- it was mine for not noting that I wanted the vegetarian dish. But how was I supposed to know they have another dish with the same name?! When I finally did get the right food, it was delicious.

Had to be the worst pho I ever had in my life. Noodles were extra chewy, meat was scarce. I got the flank steak and brisket pho, and I received flank steak and brisket fat only. Terrible. Terrible. Terrible. I will never come here again.

i go to viet house because i live about 4min from the restaurant. I've only tried there pho, summer roll, spring roll. Pho is average. Nothing special about. If i really had to recommend pho it would be Pho50 in arlington. summer roll and spring roll = * * * Viet house gets very busy during lunch hour.

1st visit. Ordered shrimp rolls and crispy rolls for appetizer. They were outstanding! Entrees ordered were pho & grilled pork over rice. They were genuinely good tasting. The staff didn't go 'above & beyond' for service but delivered the food promptly. The place was clean and well maintained. Will definitely go back!!!

The kids were craving Pho, so I took them to the one near the house. The garden rolls were so good that the kids quickly ate them all up (I had to fight for one!). When the soup came, the kids kept saying that it was so good between every bite. It was nice and hot. I like that they had plum sauce on the table, so you can add as much as you want. Definitely a favorite.

New Owners? New Recipe? We use to frequent their place on Main Street a lot. We were so excited when they opened this 2nd store on Fairfax because it was closer to us. We have been eating here at least the past 8 years. Even though the prices have gone up (really what hasn't) we still went. On a recent visit we noted that the staff had changed. When we got our Pho we noticed it was watered down and didn't taste the same. We will not be returning and we're so sad it's no longer the same.

One of my favorite pho places, other than my mom's of course. I come here for a quick might to eat, or whenever i'm craving pho, and my mom isn't making it. I use their take-out a lot and it is just as good. Their summer rolls are better than most places because it is actually more than just noodles and two halves of a shrimp. The broth is nice, clear and fragrant. It definitely the better pho place in its area.

    (4)
  • Yan W.

The staff for the most part was replaced buy non-Vietnamese. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just hilarious to order Pho in English. They have good rice dishes (I like the chicken platter that comes with a side of Pho broth). MSG alert though, if you have issues with MSG, I would avoid it. They have good iced coffee and good beef brisket. Again, it's not as good as in Viet Nam, and it's not the best in the region, but it's good if you are right in the area and hungry for cheap eats.

This used to be my favorite pho place but either the quality is slipping or the others have been getting better. This is one of three pho restaurants the owner owns but apparently the other Fairfax location has been sold according to a review of the Main St location. The other location is somewhere in Alexandria. There is more on the menu than pho, that's why we come here when the wife is in the mood for it and I want a rice dish. The spring rolls are always good. There's something about the dipping sauce that is different from others too. I think it's just sweeter. This is also one of the cleaner pho places. There also used to be a bum (or someone that had nothing better to do than listen to his walkman at a shopping center) that sat next to VH by the 7-11. I haven't seen him this year. Maybe he knows why it is not as good as it used to be.

My favorite pho house!! Fast service, excellent broth also. Love the Mystery Meat Meatballs. Work near there so I receive faster service than normal. Highly Recommend beginner pho eaters here also!!!

This was stop number 3 on my quest to find a Pho place worthy of calling 'my own'. The one place that I would take out of town guests to. Well, Viet House turned out to not be that place. The interior was nicely decorated and it seemed that someone took the time to think about even personalizing the dishware. The broth, however, appeared to be put together by someone who woke up and decided to make pho broth for the first time. It was a dark broth with beef foam remanents still floating about. And don't even get me started on the summer rolls! They felt warm to the touch as if they had just been made with warm noodles and warm summer roll rice paper dipped in water .. but nope, they had just been microwaved. I would rather wait an extra 5 minutes for a fresh summer roll than one that was made yesterday and heated up. Overall, the food was just OK. The service was not spectacular but what could be expected of Vietnamese restaurants.

I got the Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork & Spring Roll on Vermicelli Bowl). The food seemed fresh, the spring rolls were delicious. In all though it was average to above average. Nice place to have lunch. Service is great.

This is one of my regular pho spots... mostly because it's close by, but also because the pho is simply really good! They give you enough meat and have really good lemonade. The service is also very attentive.

I was looking for some good pho so i decided to try this place since it is closest to where i live. Good fast service. Pho was pretty standard, pretty decent, i would go back again. The place is decent, nothing fancy.

  • Jo M.

i've only had the pho here but it's legit. the noodles were slightly overcooked, and broth a little unique - i sensed some ginger in it, and it was kind of sweet.... sort of like a cross between what you get a pho sate and pho 75. pho 75 still is my go to joint for pho but viet house would be a good substitute when it's more convenient.

  • Nathalie R.

This place was great until I found a hair in my soup and the manager accused me of putting it there. I honestly believe this place is crap, worst customer service and they need to keep it clean! Which they don't, and we told him we would call the health department and he got really scared.

    (1)
  • Donald P.

Got our usual order of Pho and Bun. I really liked my Vermicelli Bowl. Presentation was really nice. The large bowl of Pho wasn't as big as we were expecting but the wife liked it. I thought it was good but was surprised she didn't think it was greasy. My threshold for greasy or oily foods is a lot higher than her's. Let full and impressed. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back. Can't say I'm a fan yet, but a little more deserving than just an A-Okay.

  • Tina T.

Definitely a nice go to place for pho in the Fairfax area. My boyfriend and I frequent this place often and the pho is pretty consistent. It's definitely not amazing but it's good enough for me. Clean broth and consistent service. You can't go wrong with the summer rolls and anything else on the menu. Lemon chicken is pretty good as well and you get your money's worth.

This is our go to place for a pork vermicelli bowl! It will feed two, comes with two fried rolls, and is SOOO fresh. We've been going back for two years now since a friend introduced the place to us. It's unbeatable for the price. The staff is always friendly and attentive. It's great for take away too.

  • M W.

Let me start off by saying this, I used to be somewhat of a usual at this place. It's close to where I live and the food is good. The parking lot is large and never stressful. I usually dine in with my boyfriend and we get appetizers and pho. The service has always been short and somewhat cold but I was okay with that, they took my order and brought my food and it was cheap and good and that was fine with me. My boyfriend is always a generous tipper, 20% if not more every time. Even when we would get take out he leaves a dollar or two. Until one day... After a long stressful day for my boyfriend, we decide to catch a bite at Viet House. We got our usual, garden rolls and pho for the both of us. Then we went up to the register to pay. Our server was the one who rang us up and my very tired boyfriend accidentally wrote "$1" on the tip line and I immediately noticed, but before I could correct him the waiter takes the paper and rudely looks up at my boyfriend and says, "REALLY, ONE DOLLAR, THAT'S NOT EVEN 5%". My boyfriend was very confused and stressed to begin with, obviously not remembering that we were dining in and not picking up today. I was shocked that our server had the nerve to say something so rude to a familiar customer over an obvious mistake. Had he not said anything so rude I would have overtipped, apologizing for my boyfriend's mistake. I understand the struggle of being a server and how tips are important but being rude to a customer for not tipping enough is a good way to lose my patronage altogether. I was honestly in disbelief that this man had the nerve to be so rude to us, especially when we are kind, frequent customers that always tip well. Anyways, when the serve so rudely pointed out my boyfriend's tip, I stepped in and wrote the appropriate tip, and the man snatched the paper and rolled his eyes as we walked away. It's a shame such a convenient place to me with good food has service so bad I can not stand to step foot in there ever again. Based on other reviews, it seems like other people feel similarly and have had very negative experiences with the staff as well. I have not been back here since then and never will.

Best spring rolls ever and the owners are awesome people. I will continue to drive out here whenever I am craving pho, even though I no longer work nearby.

I go out of my way to come out to fairfax to eat here. The Pho is what originally got me hooked. The broth is incredibly tasty and the noodles are just the right texture/consistency. I have since moved on to their vermicelli bowl, which might be the best thing I have ever eaten. I have tried many other Vietnamese places in the DC area (Eden center, etc) and none of them stack up to this place. I cant recommend it enough.

Ask for a little more onions in my soup, they brought out a plate and didnt realised it will cost $1 extra until I went to the cashier. paid $10.13 for a small size bowl of pho. Not going back.

My favorite pho place in the area. The pho ga, white meat, and their summer rolls are my go to. Their broth is consistently great and their summer rolls are amazing. They are a bit more pricey than most pho I've had but their stuff seems fresher. Their sping rolls are okay, I didn't find them special. Their bubble drinks are fantastic, but it's hard to mess up those, they only have bubbles on weekends though, the rest of the week it's just fruit smoothies.

i don't think I will ever come back to the Viet House ever again. There is another Viet House on Main St. that has much friendlier and better service. The worst part of this place is how rude the customer service is. I can't believe what service I got tonight. I should have gone with my instinct to get out when I arrived at 8:30 and they said I cant order anything but #1-#5 off the pho only menu. The server who sat us told us that we had come too late. Ummmmmm... why are you even open til 9 if you think 8:30 is too late?!!? Anyways, so we ordered our food and I actually wanted the Vermicelli Noodle Salad but of course, they only had numbers 1-5 off the pho menu so I settled for the summer rolls. I asked for just shrimp and he gave me a very odd look like it was a hard task to do. My friends pho came out and she asked for more lime then what they gave us with the bean sprouts and he gave a sarcastic remark asking if she was trying to make lemonade soup. So he came back with the limes and as she was squeezing the limes into her soup I could hear them speaking in Vietnamese about how they think my friend was retarded for putting all that lime in her soup. EXCUSE ME, WHY DOES IT MATTER HOW SHE EATS HER SOUP?! I mean, they kept going on and on and on and on about how I didnt order a real meal and how we were taking our time eating. When they were making the rude remarks, I looked at my watch and it was only 8:45. Technically, if they were open until 9, I could walk in at 8:55 and order my food and sit there until I was done eating. But why would I want to sit there and listen to them talk shit about us. Personal advice to Viet House in Jermantown: BE VERY CAREFUL WHAT YOU SAY ABOUT PEOPLE WHEN THEY ARE AROUND, ESPECIALLY IF THEY UNDERSTAND YOUR LANGUAGE!

Their pho is pretty solid, but I come here soley for their Strawberry drink. It's like a strawberry slushee, but without the fear of it turning watery! Yummy. It's under $4, and it's quite refreshing and a good treat. +Strawberry smoothie

My friend recommended this place so we went on Sunday for lunch. The broth was fine.. but I ordered pho with all the meats and there was way more flank steak than anything else. I think I had one piece of tendon in the whole bowl. I also asked for no cilantro, but I could have sworn that there were pieces here and there in my soup. I didn't mind because I just don't like cilantro, but if I was allergic to it then it would have been a problem. Also, this is the first place I've been to where the parking lot REEKED of pho. I know you usually end up leaving the restaurant smelling like it, but I've never had a parking lot smell like there were bowls of pho in each parking space. It wasn't one of those smells where you go "mmm can't wait to get in!" It was more like "wtf that's strong." We weren't even parked right in the front of the restaurant.

I've been to this location countless times. It's been around for ages, and growing up in the Centreville-Fairfax area, this was the constant go-to place for pho. The pho is good and if you work/live in the Fairfax area it's a convenient place with quick service to satisfy a craving. However, in all my years of attending this pho restaurant, I never left thinking "WOW- THAT WAS AN AMAZING BOWL OF PHO." The pho is usually a bit bland, but on my most recent trip it was far too salty. It's good enough and I'm sure it will continue to be a popular location for Pho but I prefer to fulfill my cravings elsewhere if I get the chance.

I think this is one of the first places I ever went to eat pho. It has been around for a very long time and the flavor of the broth is always consistent. A nice large bowl of pho is perfect on a cold day. I wouldn't say that it's the best pho place ever, but probably the most decent in this area. If I don't feel like making the drive all the way to Falls Church, this is my go to place. Besides the pho, I also like to get the vermicelli. It comes with a lot of veggies, meat and fried egg rolls on top. If you do not like fish sauce then I wouldn't recommend it, but I love it. Another thing that is really good is the strawberry smoothie. Yum! I usually ask them to put one order in two cups to share since it's pretty big. The service is always great and fast and it's a good place to go if you're looking for a quick and hearty meal.

My go to place for pho in the area. Great fresh summer rolls. I'd love more rice dishes but the pho makes up for that.

I have been a regular here for years. Haven't been in a few months so I went tonight and got pho without meat to go. I wanted a little extra broth. It cost $9 for a bowl of soup with only noodles. When I got home it smelled like pinesol. It was horrible. I won't be going back. I am so disappointed. I really used to love this place. I will keep going to the location in Fairfax on Main St. (different owners) who seem to be more accommodating to customers and have a great pho broth.

I love this place so much! It is my favorite go to Asian style restaurant! The pork vermicelli bowl is excellent and so is the chicken broth soup. YUM! I have been eating here for years and I would recommend it to anyone. Their menu has so many different and healthy Vietnamese dishes to chose from! You definitely won't be disappointed eating here.

Typical viet restaurants. Came here for lemon grass pork noodle dish and it was amazing. Love their spring rolls that come with it! So crunchy and full of goodness.

4/17/13 7PM The pho was lukewarm. My sister got the grilled chicken with rice dish. The chicken seemed pre-cooked and had no real flavor to it, which was very disappointing since I consider Vietnamese and Thai BBQ'd meat to be some of the best barbecue a person could have. The iced water the servers brought tasted like someone used it in an enema. Good thing we had some lime pieces to mask the water flavor. I do not think I will be returning.

We ordered two Pho without meat which should have been significantly cheaper. They still charged us at the regular price even after mentioning it to the server. We made the appropriate adjustments in their tips. Food quality was not appetizing and of poor quality. We have too many options in Fairfax County so we will not be return to Viet House. Two thumbs down.

I am really surprised that there are not too many good pho places in the Fairfax/Centreville area. Viet House is located in the Jermantowne Shopping center, which has been around for as long as I can remember. I work nearby, so this has become my staple pho restaurant during the lunch hour. I get pho tai chin at every pho place I go to. The broth is a little bland compared to pho 75 and pho sate, which are my favorites. However, the portions are more than enough. A small bowl comes with tons of meat. The summer rolls are not bad either. I always get the Vietnamese iced coffee with milk too. My lunch buddies have also enjoyed the pho ga, or chicken. Once in a while someone will order one of the rice or noodle entrees, but we usually stick with pho. Not the best pho by any means, but it satisfies my craving during the work hours. I am giving it 2 stars, because no pho place ever compares to 75 or Sate. Note: they accept credit card, which is a huge plus!

Dr Pho dropped by the Viet House II in Fairfax. First off, the service was fine, nice enough and fast with a refill. The water was wonderful, had a good amount of ice in it, so always tasted fresh and cool. The place is clean, and although a bit more expensive than Eden Center shops, wasn't outrageously priced. Now for the important part. Dr Pho's hunt for the perfect Spring Roll struck out big time at Viet House II. This would be fine if they were just your typical well fried crispy Roll...these were not that. The inside was mushy and had an odd sweat flavor to it. I could barely put down all four pieces. There was not enough fish sauce for dipping either. The Pho was below average. I got the #3 Tai, Nam, Gan, Sach which is steak, flank soft tendon and bible tripe. The broth was watered down and had so little flavor that I didn't even come close to finishing it. The noodles were undercooked and there was probably 4 times the soft tendon compared to everything else. Dr Pho has one mission in life, that's to find the perfect Spring Roll....Dr Pho struck out at Viet House, but my mission will continue unabated......Dr Pho ..ROLL ON!

For some reason, my mother loves the Pho here. I am not sure why. Maybe the place is clean and near her? I, personally, think it's ok. Nothing jump out to me. There are a lot of Pho restaurants in the DMV area now. I have tried over a dozen. Pho 75 is still my favorite.

Horrible service. I made an order of 4 soup and ask for spicy sauce and lady was mad and she said I have to pay extra money for siracha sauce. Never seen a vietnamese restaurant charge extra money for siracha sauce. Also the servers were very rude as well. I do not recommend this place at all.

I wanted something hot and with a broth so my mom brought me here after arriving in the States from being in Europe for the past 6 months. I only order chicken pho at pho places, I liked the chicken pieces-they were actually good sized pieces of meat but the broth was alright. I think I put too much brown sauce and hot sauce or the there was something in the broth that I was allergic too because I got a HUGE allergic reaction on my lips and I had these red bumps all over my lips for over two weeks. The place was clean but the food was alright.

Used to be our goto pho place... Pho came out hot and strawberry smoothie was great! They had a good vegetarian option... But one bad experience and we haven't been back since... The workers disappeared for 20 minutes one time and there was no one around... There was a handful of customers and we were all waiting for service... We finally saw 2 workers come out of the same bathroom... Haven't back since... Maybe in another year...

Have been here about 10 times in the last 6 months. Wish I would have found this place sooner. Hands down the best pho for me in the FFX, Centreville area. Very nice aromatic broth that isn't overpowering. I am basing this review on the well done brisket and flank meat which is well portioned and extremely tender melt in your mouth goodness. Only a few things that keep this place from getting 5 stars. 1. Fried spring rolls are almost always too greasy 2. The water tastes horrible 3. Last 2 visits have had very poor, unfriendly and incorrect service I have been to pretty much every pho house in this area and Viet House easily beats everyone for me. Have not tried the pho house in Fairfax City yet.

both SPRING and SUMMER rolls are superb ! Soup is generally awesome (nearly as good as the old Pho 75 in Wilson Blvd) and I usually get the small bowl with everything plus extra meat on the side ... sometimes, the extra meat request is something that throws them off (maybe they only do that for Vietnamese countrymen and its not expected from everyone else ?) but those occasions are not the usual. Also try the "Vermicelli Bowl", great order that I'd order more often if I didn't love their soup so much. I often order the vermicelli bowl and split it between my two young kids because its an easy dish to share and the portion is generous ... husband and wife owners, one is ALWAYS there so quality is usually very high.

Our first time visiting this place, and we this place was pretty good. It's tugged away in this small shopping center, between Lee Hwy and Jermantown Rd. We saw it by chance. Overall good service and good food. The grill pork and spring roll vermicelli was excellent. They put like three spring rolls in my vermicelli and packed with grill pork. The combination pho was pretty. The broth was very hot, clear and not cloudy, and they weren't stingy on the meat. Server was friendly and fast. He recommend the mango slushee and it was pretty good and unique because they made it with fresh mango. Most places use power or concentrate. We would definitely come back again.

I've been here several times for lunch and can say the quality of the food and service is consistent. Phoa Ga and Pho Bo are both very good. The BIG bowl is $6 and change and is quite a meal. I like this place because the service is quick and the food comes out quicker. They have a seating host and a large dining room. Just don't ask your waiter to explain the menu, you'll only be confused. The Spring roll is excellent, you get two for $3.25 and they are large and delicious. You don't need to wait for your waiter to bring your check, just go to the register tell them what you had and pay!

** 3.5 stars ** I stopped in here for dinner last night after my meeting with the mortgage lender. It was cold and rainy out - a perfect evening for a dose of Pho Ga. When I arrived, there was about eight other tables of people eating. I noticed I was the only Caucasian person in the restaurant - which indicated to me that the food must be pretty decent. I ordered my usual craving - the Pho Ga. The soup came out pretty quickly - but the quantity of bean sprouts was fairly sparse. So I asked for more - they brought me out another plate of sprouts. Added a couple squeezes of lime juice, cilantro and basil, jalapenos, and Sriracha sauce. Not quite as good as Pho Bistro or Pho Today - but still pretty good!

My son and I are big pho eaters, and Viet House is our favorite. Their soup has plenty of noodles and meat in it. They also have a selection of smoothies and other drinks. The only problem we have had there is I once was served Thai iced tea with half and half that had gone very, very bad. It's something they should have noticed preparing it; the half and half was curdled. They did deduct the charge from the bill after I mentioned it, which was nice.

This has been a long time consistent staple in this tiny strip mall in Fairfax. They serve a few rice and vermicelli dishes along with the popular pho dishes. It's not the best pho I've had, but it's not the worst. I do come here for pho if I'm in this part of Fairfax. There really isn't much else to say here since most of these restaurants are no frills, quick service (unless you ordered a rice or vermicelli dish.) Oh, I did notice on the last page of the menu that there were vegetarian alternatives. Which you won't be hearing me ordering any time soon. Sorry to any vegetarians out there.

**My recommended, ideal meal here is a large #15, an order of spring rolls to share, and iced coffee with condensed milk.** If you have had pho a few times or if it just isn't flavorful enough, try adding any of the toppings or sauces from the side. I also enjoy the occasional mango fruit smoothie. Bubble tea is served at many "Pho" restaurants but unfortunately this one doesn't have any. That's okay because bubble tea actually originates from Taiwan so it isn't authentic to Vietnamese cuisine. If you are still hungry for a cold desert to share with someone then I suggest the colored jello and coconut milk. It isn't too expensive and it is refreshing! I can't recommend much else because the other items on the menu are better at other "Phos" (I'll stop with the quotation marks). For instance the vermicelli bowl is DELICIOUS but is even better at other restaurants. To sum it up, this place is delicious, a little pricey compared to when they first opened, and different from other Phos (the broth here along with its sister restaurants is sweeter and goes against the standard). I recommend this restaurant along with these others in the area: (TRY THESE PLACES) ^^Pho 98 and Viet Crystal^^(TRY THESE PLACES) Now for a more explicit review: I LOVE VIETNAMESE FOOD...then again I love a lot of food except for liver of course. For background I have been to many Phos--from the delicatessens to the Vietnamese/Korean fusion and yes even the dives of Phos. I have tried Pho in many different states, even in the dining halls of Purdue University, but would one day like to actually try home cooked Vietnamese food in Vietnam while traveling the world. Then again I have some weird food fantasies and most of them unfortunately won't come true. Viet House actually ranks as my favorite place to enjoy a warm bowl of Vietnamese soup, however, I give it 4 stars. Some people would consider that mildly strange and say, "What a crazy person!" WELL I AGREE! This place holds a special... nay, magical place in my heart. KEY POINTS 1. I enjoyed this restaurant so much as a kid. The owner was very friendly and we had great memories in this establishment. Keep in mind, I had been enjoying pho for years prior to trying Viet House for the first time. This location quickly became a great occasional treat after my basketball games in my house league back in grade school (maybe back in the year 2002 or so but to be honest I have no memory of my very first visit). 2. The iced coffee with condensed milk is soooo good if you have never had it before, just dont get it too often because it is pricey for customers but EXTREMELY cheap to make. I enjoyed this drink so much that the previous owner gave me 2 of the mini coffee makers FOR FREE after a meal once because he loves my family. He also told me the brand of coffee bean and how to make it.. Now I can have it whenever I want and it was a huge hit with my college buddies last summer by our apartment's pool. 3. As a kid I enjoyed this Pho more than others because it is sweeter and tastes better to the average person. This is not how Vietnamese Pho is supposed to taste however and is not traditional. They give a lot of steak, meatballs, tofu, tripe or whatever topping you like in the soup so it is heartier then some other weaker versions of Pho. 4.The original owner added a nice charm to the restaurant because he was so friendly. The current staff is friendly enough for me to keep coming back but not all of them are overly welcoming. This is only a small complaint but basically I really missed the old Viet House I came to love as a kid. This is actually not the original Viet House. I may be wrong but if I can recall, the first one opened in Alexandria followed by the one on main street near Fairfax City. I actually go to the one on main street often because I have classes close to that location. I simply can't give it 5 stars because I miss the owner and there are so many different versions of Vietnamese food these days that its hard to compare. I wish everyone could have tried the old Viet House but the new owners aren't terrible so enjoy and slurp those noodles!

This place is great! When I'm in the mood for some pho this is my defacto choice. Everything on the menu is pretty good and priced fairly. The service is not too shabby as well. If you've ever been to a pho place and had reasonable expectations, then prepare to not be surprised. I know that might sound like a roundabout compliment (and it is), but sometimes you've got a craving for pho and don't want to drive all the way into Fall Church to get your fix. If you're looking for a good pho place without the travel-time, look no further.

The pork vermicelli bowl is excellent, as are the spring and summer rolls. The avocado shakes are like the ones my mom used to make. The pho is tasty, and I liked the dark chicken pho. However, I won't order the beef meatballs because they are not tender. We come here often and the only thing that has changed is the music. I sort of miss their mixed muzak tape of Viet pop. They've now replaced it with a weird muzak tape of American music - ranging from elevator music to Queen to Billy Joel.

Favorably impressed. Their lemon chicken a big hit with my kids. Small but tasty vegetarian menu. Recommend the veggie ham vermicelli bowl. Also accommodated a gluten free request, another vermicelli bowl served with bean sprouts. Overall a modest, clean quiet and fairly priced family restaurant.

Busy even mid-afternoon on a Sunday. Read the reviews. Looked good. Two of us came. Is good. Enjoyed vegetarian fare (pho noodle soup bowl (good) ... and also the dry vermicelli which has cut up vegetarian spring rolls, and makes for a cooler summer dish ). Filling. Stuffed and happy. Really don't need the meats. Atmosphere and service are fine too. Will definitely return. Nice, friendly staff.

This is our go-to pho place, both because we like it a lot and because it's conveniently located for us. I really like their broth and we both love the vermicelli bowl. I wish the brisket was trimmed a bit better since I don't really enjoy the fat cap but it's also easy to pick out.

I'll have to rate this place a 2. I gave my coworker a choice between here or Pho Today. He felt Viet House had a more authentic sounding name so it should be better. As some other reviewers have stated this is just an average Pho house. Its nothing too special. I've been here a many times, it all depends on who's driving that day. Today is no different than the rest. I actually don't mind their dark broth. It has a strong flavor which isn't too bad. I usually try not to put anything sauces in the broth because I like my soup pure. We ordered the spring rolls. Stay away from these. I'm not use to seeing spring rolls this wide. I'm use to the tightly rolled ones with a crispy wrapper. The ones we got today were fat, greasy, and the insides were soft and mushy. Bla!! Not really worth the $3.50 they were charging. The large bowl was $8.50. That's on the high side. I don't mind paying money if its good, but this is just o.k. On top of that, they seemed to be cheap on the meat, for that price I better have a full bowl. That's another reason for the low rating. There are some plus sides to the visit. The waiters were nice, we always had our drinks full, they never got empty. There is plenty of seating inside. More than enough parking. The inside seemed clean. But the main thing that really stands out is......they leave little plates on the table for my dipping sauce. I always make a dipping sauce for my meat. That was a big plus for me, yes I know, I'm strange. Oh well!! So if you go here, remember this. No spring rolls, no summer rolls. Just Pho.

This place is near my parent's house and I've been frequenting it since it opened. They do a pretty good beef pho with generous cuts of beef. My regular choice is to start out with summer/spring rolls, the pho with well-done briskets, hot tea and a glass of chanh muoi (lemonade made with brined lemons). There is a sister restaurant that is over on Rt236 that I also frequent. I prefer that one since they tend to be a bit more consistent. The pho ga (chicken) is also good. But not outstanding. I find the broth in the pho ga a bit bland. In either case, beef or chicken, they provide an ample herb side dish filled with aromatic vietnamese herbs to complement the pho. I have always experienced quick and expedient service at either facility. Maybe because they recognize me as a regular patron or maybe because I'm vietnamese and I speak vietnamese to the servers. In any case, this is on my regular list of restaurants that has my constant patronage.

Specify "no MSG"! My night was ruined thanks to mild MSG poisoning. (Go ahead and Google that.) Toxicity-induced headache, nausea, and other weird sensations aside, they have decent broth. What I like about this place is they have white or dark meat chicken on the menu for those who don't get down with tripe or unknown beef parts.

As Tracy K notes, the Pho broth tasted SOAPY??? My friend ordered Shrimp Pho and the broth tasted better...but that was just strange..It's still eatable (and yes, I meant eatable not edible), but I don't know if I'd want to come back. You don't get a lot of herbs with your pho - just thai basil (NOT EVEN MINT WTF?), bean sprouts, lime, and jalapeno. The Cha Gio (crispy eggroll) was ok but not your authentic Vietnamese kind. Our strawberry smoothie was not made with real fruit. The coffee was good and strong but a bit sweet even for Viet Coffee. Service was quick. They accept credit cards and it's conveniently located. Personally I'd rather go some place else - again SOAPY BROTH??, but I wouldn't mind coming back if persuaded.
