Lovely place for dinner w the fam, with friends, or even on a date. Food is super solid and the Teppanyaki chefs - though it's the usual "egg roll", "volcano", and "choo choo train" tricks and nothing new or fancy - are always friendly and accommodating to your dietary needs (no dairy, etc). Great value - each meal comes with soup, salad, appetizer, steamed rice or fried rice, and tons of veggies. Can't attest to their sushi, but the entire experience is pretty good overall.

I love hibachi and this is maybe my favorite or a close second. They do great shows, the cooks are funny. The service is amazing and the food is delicious.

We eat here for sushi (although we have eaten here twice last year at the tables which are really fun with friends or family). My review is for the sushi. We aren't hard core sushi folks but know what is fresh and delicious. Since we eat here at least once per month at the sushi bar the sushi chefs know us and are always very attentive. Our favorite item is the avocado salad (I don't share this...I make my hubby get his own). Delicious! I also love their calif rolls topped with masago, tuna and avocado rolls, spider rolls and yellowtail rolls (yup, not very adventurous are we!). Always fresh and always delicious.

Not a fan of hibachi... you been to one, you've pretty much seen it all. Pleasantly, the food was pretty good. Usually, the food is cooked salty, but I guess it depends on the chef. I took my 5 year old, and he really loved it. I guess that was the best part of the hibachi experience.

First time there was Saturday night..no reservation wait an hour and a half to be seated..worth the wait though..be sure to make reservations

Hey, getting sushi from here is one step away from driving my toyota camry, wearing my skinny black tie on a kohl's suit, and listening to amy grant on the way to lunch, amirite? Ok, none of those things are really all THAT bad. Amy Grant was delightful back in the day, and Toyotas are fantastic on the wallet in both maintenance costs and gas mileage. Holy crap, i'm turning into my father. Wait, where was I? Oh, Sakura. Sakura is the equivalent of turning into your parents, in regards to a sushi joint. It's a chain; i've never lived beyond "hollerin" distance from one, and to be frank, i've never eaten at one. I've always found a delightful hole-in-the-wall with a sushi chef I can get to know on a first name basis that serves it up, no-frills and expertly prepared. (One guy used to call me "Captain" because I was in the military, despite the fact that I wasn't an officer. I think he knew that and was being cheeeeeeky") The bad news is that there ISN'T a hole in the wall spot near my work. I can hoof it out to Centreville, VA (and visit Tomo Sushi, which is really the gem of the area) but Sakura is right across the street, and you know what? It's Damn Fine(tm). You will not be disappointed by ANYTHING here, as the service is friendly and prompt and the sushi is fresh and expertly prepared. The menu is extensive, and they offer hibachi seating for those that want some dinner theater. I've been here 2-3 times and I've never left feeling anything but pleased. Get you some Sakura. Be an adult.

Good to go for the experience once in a while. Definitely love the fried rice and steak. We also tried their soft shell crab sushi!!! It was really good!

Great service, amazing food (best scallops I've ever had), and a bright and friendly environment. The atmosphere is a little chaotic which is expected at a hibachi restaurant (or any place that involves throwing knives and flying food) but otherwise inviting. The waiters are attentive and the chefs are all very open and friendly making the experience much more enjoyable.

Note: my review is strictly for the sushi. I have not yet tried their hibachi. I am a regular sushi-eater. When trying a new place, I always start off with their salmon. If they can't get the salmon right, it's pretty much not even worth trying their other fresh sushi. Sorry, Sakura, you didn't pass. I ordered first the standard Miso soup (which was quite bland), and the standard house salad with ginger dressing. The salad was very fresh, which is always a plus. Nothing worse than starting a meal with brown lettuce. In that regard, Sakura did well. The ginger dressing wasn't as sweet as I like it, but it, too, was plenty fresh. Next came the sushi. I ordered both Salmon Nigiri and a standard Philadelphia roll (fresh salmon, avocado, cream cheese). The salmon was just poor quality. I couldn't even bite through it, and what I did manage to get in my mouth was too chewy and virtually inedible. Thinking perhaps it was just a lousy piece, I did keep trying, but it was the same for all the sushi. Roll or Nigiri made no difference. There is always the possibility that it was just a bad night. I am willing to try it again.

Your average japanese steakhouse, a bit pricey but nice atmosphere with very skilled and entertaining cooks compared to most japanese steakhouses Will definetly come again

Went here last weekend with a couple of my girlfriends. Kevin was our cook, he was friendly, funny and put on a show. It's nice to be able to get Japanese beer here. The sushi was ok but I've had better. The Hibachi steak, chicken and shrimp was awesome. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp was delicious too. Lot's of food, Between the three of us girls we shared 2 orders and still had leftovers. I would enjoy going back.

Time of Review: *Feb 9, 2011 @ 7:00pm, dinner for 4 Service: *Hostess/Waitress - Greeted us when we walked in, and sat us down very promptly. Service was good with a 50 - 75% full restaurant. Japanese styled setting and attire was a nice touch. Food Quality/Selection: * All 4 of us had the Teppan dinner, and the food was fairly good. The Shrimp Flambe did not taste overly seasoned, and my side of chicken liver was not overly dry. The chef of course could use a few more practice rounds in his demonstration / performance skills, but for the most part maintained a good demeanor. Cost: * I would see the cost of the Teppan dinners are on par with most other restaurants of this type.

The sushi chef is very cool and will take care of you like no other.. I love the Buri Kama here prepared awesome... Friends and family always have enjoyed the Spicy Scallops served on a giant clam shell!!! Some of the best Rock Fish I have ever tasted and the beer selection is good too.

Sakura is a chain, and one that I typically see in malls. I didn't expect much from it, and CPIK and I often order take out sushi because of convenience...but you know what? Sakura is actually really good. The sushi is good, the fish tastes fresh, and it's about mid-range, sliding to cheap for maki rolls/special rolls. Nigiri on the other hand is kind of expensive. It's nicely decorated with a good ambience. Service was nice and attentive. I'd definitely recommend this place if you're in the area and looking to have a chill date night.

Very good sushi for the area, and the grilled yellowtail jawbone is excellent. It has a good bar with three TVs, which makes it comfortable to eat alone.

Host is awful! Another group and me checked in for an 8 pm reservation. After waiting over 20 minutes and seeing lots of groups being seated, we asked for a status. The guy said he didn't hear us both say we were all present! STUPID!!! Food better be good!

  • Jennifer Y.

The waitress here have sense of taking good care of customers and their food is fresh! I haven't been here that many times but waitress here know how to seek for better tips because they know how to take care of customers. It's not all about food but they are good with food and customer service. I will return to this place to see if their good customer service continues.

The best in the area. This joint is divided into two -- to the left is for uptight sushi snobs. Go right and you'll break bread, er, fried rice, with fellow hibachi lovers. Get the Filet and Chicken...you won't go wrong. Chefs are entertaining and the yum yum sauce is to die for! Who doesn't turn into a little kid when they turn a smoking onion into a volcano and then choo choo train??

  • Cathy B.

Really fun place for groups. Very yummy sushi. For hibachi I've gotten scallops that were yummy. My boyfriend got filet mignon but they overcooked it--I recommend ordering it on the rare side because there's so much heat on the hibachi! Be prepared for a big bill. Two people for hibachi dinner without drinks or sushi....can cost a minimum of $65. PS Make sure your group knows to come on time because they won't seat you if anyone is missing. We were less than five minutes late and they gave away our group's table. Then we had to wait half an hour. That sucked!

Have been eating here for over a year, and the food and service has declined over time. This week my family and I came in for dinner and a roach ran across the table. We left and went to Olive Garden.

We love coming here for teppanyaki! The wait staff is attentive and we've been lucky to always have entertaining chefs. The latest one we had (2/25/12) kept our four-year-old enthralled, even fixing the food toss so that only the tot caught it in his mouth while the rest of us missed or got smacked in the face! My only complaint is too much dressing on the salad. Gochisousama deshita!

  • Elle C.

Sakura makes GREAT spicy tuna rolls! I am so picky about them but Sakura must be one of my face places for these rolls. I wish they had a sushi happy hour but oh well. Staff is friendly but their service isn't the best (can be a little slow, at least in my experience). Their tepanyaki foods are pretty good and their chefs do a good job at entertaining the guests. Overall, it's a pretty decent restaurant.

Great for a fun date or with a group of friends. If you do hibachi and you're just a couple people, you'll end up sitting with strangers- not a bad thing, unless the people with you are rude/rowdy/[insert undesirable behavior here]. My date and I ordered everything- chicken, steak, shrimp... There's TONS of food- plenty of fried rice, vegetables, etc. The chef I had was awesome- he put on a great show and made everyone laugh- imitating a volcano with an opinion cut into rings, smoke coming from a train, etc. He served and entertained a full table. We even got to try and catch food he flipped from his spatula into our mouths (i caught one!). Hibachi- good food and a great experience. I've also done sushi here. I was surprised at how good it was. Fresh, and a pretty good deal for the money you spend on it. Sitting at the bar for a late lunch was an enjoyable experience as well- the bartenders tend to be friendly and will chat with you and recommend things. I'd recommend stopping here for lunch or taking a date/friends here for dinner.

I've been here a few times, and I have enjoyed all of the times I've been here. It's a bit pricey for what you get, probably because you're paying for the tricks that the chefs do. I've only been here for hibachi, but their sushi looks pretty good as well... I may have to try it the next time I go. I usually order the filet mignon and scallop combination, with chicken liver (it's the best here!) and sometimes even an extra side of roasted mushrooms. I like their soup and salad that comes along with it. The fried rice is usually overdosed with too much soy sauce, but I like how they give you a big portion of veggies. They have a decent wine/beer/alcohol selection as well. This is a usually great place to go to when you're in a big group.

  • J B.

The food is great! I ordered filet mignon and chicken. This place gives you large portions that fill you up. The chief was very funny and entertaining. I will absolutely go back there again!

I just had the worst dinner ever! It's my sons bday and my family decided to celebrate it at the Fair Lakes location. I thought Ashton Kutchur was gonna jump out from under a table and tell me I was being punk'd!! It was that bad!! First we waited to be seated for some reason and there were a lot of empty tables. Second, we waited 35 min before the guy came out and started to cook our food at the table, keep in mind my three boys are under 10, hungry and tired on a school night. After the food comes out the guy that was cooking our food had absolutely NO experience!! BORING!! He barely even spoke to us! Blah blah blah.... To top the night off I told the waitress it was my sons bday so she brings us a cheese cake with a nicely lit candle and says, "do you want a song?". Who asks that to the bday boy????!! That is just rude!! Of course we want a song!!! LOL!! Anyways, my recommendation is, don't bother!! The Tyson's location is fantastic!! We went there two weeks ago for my husbands bday and had a great experience;). Fair Lakes is just Ghetto!!!

I guess I got mixed feelings about this place. First the price is way too expensive. portions are tiny. Nothing on the menu stands out, it hasnt been upgraded except for the prices. Good to experience once and that's it. There are far more better japanese cuisine around. service could be better.

Bravo Sakura -- excellent food, skilled chefs and great customer service -- you really take care of your patrons with allergies! Not only are they VERY careful with shellfish if allergies are an issue, Sakura does not use peanut oil or peanuts in their cooking (at least on the steakhouse side of things)! We had both the freshest sushi, meat and veggies -- Avocado and smoked salmon salad is so yummie -- and the filet mignon and mushrooms were fabulous, too! A definite "must do again" place.

** For the sushi bar only ** I love coming out here for sushi. They can tend to get very busy on saturdays so it's best to either go early or go during the week. I always get their seaweed salad to start and then a bunch of different rolls and sushi. Everytime I come the service is excellent - it apprears to be only 1 woman for the entire area but she does a great job. The food is also top notch and pretty reasonable compared to other places in the area. We always order a california roll, spicey tuna role, phili roll and usually another type of roll and we've had NO complaints. I like that they don't rush you to hurry up and eat.

  • James S.

Low rating because of the food quality. Ok, I've been to this one before a few years back when it was new. I recently went there again but the sushi wasn't that good. The rice felt cold and stale. The seaweed wasn't fresh either. Everything we ate tasted bland. I was truly surprised and disappointed. The service was great and the atmosphere is still very nice but that can only go so far. I think we should've ate on the other side where they cook in front of you. I can't say that I would recommend getting sushi here as there are way better options available.

Habachi is good but over priced. Sushi will do if you want something close by.

  • Emily A.

I think Sakura is pretty good. They do not provide as much with their hibachi as Otani so I tend to go there more often. They don't include the noodles, and when we split a meal (because it is so much food!), they don;t give each of us a soup and salad like Otani. Their sushi is good, and the price is about the same so I will almost always go a couple miles down the street to otani.

i stumbled upon here after shopping at Target and craved sushi. i excepted better because friends of mine said that this place was really good. it was okay. first, they didn't have the roll that i always order from sushi restaurants so the i briefly explained to the sushi chef what was in it and he tried to attempt it but failed. i also tried the teppanyaki which was okay. it's not the best place but its okay. i LOVE sushi, so whenever i eat it, i better get what i want and be satisfied. this place just didn't do it. if you're a neutral sushi lover, you may enjoy this place.

Sakura is a fun experience, especially for birthdays! We celebrated my sister's birthday here and they were very accommodating in making room for such a large party (17 people). The food was delicious, I always order the filet mignon and it is cooked to perfection. This time, the fried rice, which is usually a favorite of ALL was missing something? I don't know if they are trying out a new recipe or if the chef just forgot an ingredient... I hope it is back to its usual standards next trip. The best part of Sakura (and why it's so great for birthdays) is the fun you have with the chef! They do the shrimp toss, make huge flames, do tricks with their utensils. You won't be bored!

  • Katie L.

Delish! I'm a huge fan of Japanese food and was so delighted to discover a traditional Japanese steak house in the area! Love the surf n' turf combo the best! The price is reasonable for the food since you get an appetizer, miso soup, Japanese salad (it tastes soo clean!), your entree + japanese fried rice, and a mountain of veggies. It's anywhere between $20 - $30 for all that food plus the entertainment value of the chef's cooking tricks! :) I only gave it 4 stars because the sushi is mediocre :/ But you don't really need to go there for the sushi... I personally go there for the yumyum sauce ;)

****3.5****** Good solid food with some entertainment value. Haven't had the sushi but my wife says it is very good. Word of advice - when you are going out to eat DON'T GET CHICKEN. You can make chicken at home anytime. If you are going to a Steakhouse then don't complain about the chicken. All the steak cuts are good and well prepared. My only gripe is the small portion of fried rice. All in all, a good place to check out for something different. Just don't get the chicken.....

    (3)
  • Jennifer S.

The hibachi is always fun here. I usually get the hibachi shrimp. They give you generous portions of shrimp, rice and vegetables. The soup is good, too, although the rice is a little heavy on the soy sauce. The sushi is good here, too. It is a little pricey, but that is usually the case with hibachi places. Overall, this is a fun place to go, especially with a group.

I've only had their sushi here and it's definitely one of my go-to spots when I'm in fairfax. I never had to wait for a table in the sushi section, there's at least a table or two available whenever I go (I usually go during the weekdays after work). The sushi is fresh and always good! The service is spot on and friendly. And the price is reasonable. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Will come back again when I'm craving sushi!!

  • Theo P.

We went here on a weeknight. No wait, we walked in and the friendly hostess seated us, a family of 3 right away. Very clean restaurant and everyone is dressed in the traditional Japanese attire. The cooks are very good at making sure they get you order right. I ordered the filet and lobster and it was cooked just the way I like it. (med well). I gotta say the desert selection is weak sauce. We have been to other steakhouses and they usually will include a sherbet or oranges for the kids at the end. not here. sorry lose a star. I would go back

  • Alex A.

had to wait a long time for group seating, but our chef was very good and the hibachi was delicious, the waiter was very attentive as well and looked like he was watching our chef to learn. good atmosphere

Good enough sushi. Prices are on par with other sushi places. Getting a bunch of rolls is more cost effective than getting the sushi/sashi delux.

Okay, I'm going to put aside my hibachi-hating self and not be biased and just review based on food and service. I never sit at the hibachi grill so this is based on the other side of the restaurant where is it restaurant-style. I always order sushi rolls & shirley temples the times that I went. and my date would order some type of teriyaki meat (lol, no one wants to eat with me b/c I coerce ppl to get what I want too!!!) The sushi rolls have always been very average. Sometimes the rice is hard and it's just very inconsistent. In addition, the teriyaki chicken sauce has always been too salty the times that I've ordered it. The upside is that the waitresses are always friendly and fast. Maybe the hibachi is better, but i highly doubt it (okay, that's just my little biased tidbit! don't worry, didn't affect my rating hehe)

Best hibachi in the area hands down!!!

THIS REVIEW IS FOR SUSHI ALONE. First impression: Nice decor; unusually quiet, even for a sunday afternoon. The Service: We sat down and promptly were served (probably because the place was desolate!) To satisfy a craving for sushi, we ordered soft-shell crab, eel & avocado, shrimp tempura, etc. Nothing too extraordinary, but good staples to a sushi meal. After some time, the sushi was served... The Food: BAD NEWS BEARS. The sushi was cold (not just room temperature), the rice was like little pellets of rocks...everything was just sub-par. Even the california roll was NOT fresh. The Review: Based on the sushi alone, i would NOT come back. Prices were rather high, no lunch specials available. Poor sushi for big money? No Thanks. Maybe the hibachi will fair better.......

  • Alex L.

I'm a sucker for this place because of the show. If it wasn't for that I'd knock off one or two stars. The food has always been good, a little on the pricey side. By far the biggest pet peeve I have about this place is the service, every time i go there's always some misunderstanding. The waitresses could be a little bit friendlier too. Its a good place to go once in a while, but even so there's better Japanese Steakhouses around.

    (3)
  • Patrick B.

Listen to me carefully. Go to this place. Go to the Sushi bar. Sit in the middle. Smile at Ming - the wise sushi chef - and be prepared to taste some good sushi. In fact, ask him to surprise you. By the way, the steak house side is fun if you are with a group of 4 or more.

  • Victoria S.

This place is OK. My boss loves it so I go here about once a month at least. It's huge and a little drab inside with dark wood and closed curtains - a bit depressing to me. They have a bar and TV but it's never crowded at lunch. The service is decent and the price is a little high for sushi. It's average...nothing really more comes to mind.

  • Ceeee C.

I ventured out to Sakura this past Friday night, since it's so close to my place and found myself to be a bit disappointed. The service was poor and the sushi was nothing to rave about. I couldn't understand why they had only one waitress covering the sushi bar on a busy night, but I will most likely think of other alternatives next time I'm craving sushi.

  • Jennifer M.

Let me just start by saying I will go back. Which I think is the most important question one should ponder when writing a review. I mean if you are telling me about a place and I ask if you will go again and you say yes, I have all I need to know right there. If I could only ask you one question about your dining experience that would be it. But you want to know more, right? Of course you do. So we actually went to Sakura because I needed a new Japanese steakhouse. I live near Kochi Steak & Seafood in South Riding, but it wasn't doing it for me anymore in more ways than one. So I did some surfing and found this place. Its menu looked awesome and it was under 20 minutes away so we headed out. Let me just say it was a pain to find via my Blackberry's Google Maps app (it kept saying it was in the middle of the road.. not in a shopping center) but we got there. It was packed even for a Saturday, which immediately made me feel awesome because a packed restaurant is in most cases a great sign. We were seated quickly and then the usual egg spinning, flame starting, volcano making shebang began. And that was as good as any Benihana show. But the food beat Benny's by far. I am a seafood lover with expensive taste (plus my dad was buying) so I ordered the Filet Mignon, Lobster, and Scallops Combo. Jeeze I have never had more food in my life. With the standard soup, salad, shrimp toss, veggies, and fried rice, plus my trio of entrees, I was more than stuffed at the end. But let me tell you the flavors present were amazing. The scallops were cooked to perfection (an issue I usually have with these establishments because I always get the scallops and they always suck) as was the lobster (to die for) and the Filet (meat is always good when it is cooked medium rare properly :) ) and I was more than satisfied with my experience. Actually I was freaking out at the end because I was so thrilled to have another restaurant in my hometown that I truly consider to be fine dining. Few more notes: Boyfriend got the Filet, loved it as well. All though we noticed his portion was some how smaller than mine even though mine was only 1/3 of my meal. Dad got the chicken and found the glazed amazing. He also loved the ginger sauce (I hate in general) and my boyfriend and I loved the seafood/"yummy" sauce. I love a good "yummy" sauce and that was the kicker in deciding on a 5 star rating, and also the reason I will never like Benihana's (What is that second sauce they serve you anyways? Why no "yummy"?). It was reasonably priced. I will go again. You should too. P.S. Boyfriend got Shrimp Tempura appetizer. Liked it. I thought it was okay.

I like their sushi more than their hibachi. I would much rather have the hibachi food cooked in the back of the kitchen. It's just that my appetite goes away when the hibachi chef cooks with a poker face saying "yay, choo choo train~ Volcano~ yay" in monotone voice. People are paying money for food and entertainment, so entertain us or please, at least try to entertain yourself. But Sakura does have good food and generous portion. I have been to other hibachi restaurants that would charge extra for fried rice. I like this place, I just feel resentment towards the hibachi chef.

  • Nelly D.

I don't know what it was about Sakura that didn't strike me as appealing...maybe it was the rude waitress and terrible service, or the fact that the food was gross! I never really like to say any of my food is 'gross' but this was really unappetizing!!! The sushi that my boyfriend and I got was mushy and the avocado that was brown when it came out to the table...and I understand that avocado can do that...but usually when I get sushi I get avocado that is still green...the sushi was so bad that it was honestly hard to get down! Overall I was really disappointed and I won't be returning anytime soon...

Good eats. Standard Japanese hibachi-style steakhouse. The chef does all the fancy tricks with his knives. Cooks up a great filet and shrimp. We didn't have the sushi, so I'll update this next time we go. I'm not a sake drinker so don't ask me. NOTE: Knocked off a star for the beer selection. They are all bottled beers, so don't order a Guinness or Blue Moon if you are expecting drafts.

  • L A.

I'm a stickler for Hibachi. I LOVE IT! Sakura is good. I've eaten there twice in the week I've lived in Fairfax. There isn't much to say about the menu (b/c it's a traditional Hibachi style menu). The service hasn't been terrible (but then again I've only been twice). The mango martini? Heavenly.

  • Andy W.

Standard Japanese steakhouse. Some of the Fantasy was ruined during my discussion with my Japanese table-mate when he informed me that there are no such steak houses in Japan. Overall, though, a pleasant experience - the service was good, the price was reasonable, and I was able to drink some beer and eat some well cooked meat. After all, isn't that what matters?

Good quality sushi from a chain? Seriously, yes! I've been here a few times now and have never tried the steak house side. (Although the last time was on a Saturday and it was packed!) The sushi patrons are seated in the smaller dining room to the left. If you're daring skip the seaweed salad and try the calamari salad appetizer to start. The squid is thinly sliced and not the kind you get with rings or tentacles. Very fresh with finely sliced chili peppers for a nice bite but not too hot. For dinner I ordered the Dynamite rolls which were basically California rolls but the topping was minced broiled scallop with roe and a dab of cream cheese. I'm not usually a huge fan of California rolls since they're so common and rather bland but the scallop made all the difference here. They were nice and flavorful with a nice creamy texture at the end of the bite. I also tried the shrimp tempura rolls which are excellent here. Be sure to also check out the regular menu for more interesting choices. They aren't on the paper menu that you check from to make your selections. There I found a tuna, cilantro, jalapeno roll that was one of the best I've had. The tuna was top grade and you got a very generous portion of fish per roll. Next time I'll try the Sake sampler that one of the other reviewers suggested! Overall a very good value for sushi in the Burbs.

This is the perfect place to go if you are a sushi lover but your date (aka me!) will not touch it with a ten foot pole! You can get your sushi and there is still something there for me to eat :) I think i really enjoy the fact that your dinner is made into a show. I ordered the scallops and steak with steamed rice. I was getting a kick out of him making the fried rice though and made me wish i ordered it. I was pretty excited about the fact that they give you a HUGE serving of vegetables and since my date didn't want his, they were nice enough to give them to me. I thought that was great since i love vegetables! The prime rib definitely overshadowed the scallops as there really wasn't much flavor to them. I enjoyed my drink (the dancing girl) but was not sure i would have paid 8.75 for another! Things here can really add up fast! Overall a good experience... a little pricey but worth it for the fun!

Went with a large party for a birthday dinner. Typical hibachi fare. Dinner prices ranged from $18 - $35 or so, including "appetizer", salad, rice, vegetables, and main course. The soup and salad were both very good, but didn't stand out from other Japanese places. The shrimp appetizer was merely two shrimp cooked on the grill -- very much on the smallish portion side. The other choices were chicken livers and mushrooms. The fried rice and vegetables were both generous and delicious. I had steak & chicken. The steak was quite good, but the chicken was overcooked and dry (and thus rather tasteless). All in all I'd definitely go back and would recommend this restaurant. I just don't think I'd get the chicken again! :)

Their sushi is good, the Japanese cooking at the tables is just plain fun. If you have kids or don't, it's just fun to watch and the food is extremely tasty.

Awesome food AND drinks. I'm not a sushi person but I love the hibachi chicken with mushrooms and fried rice... yummm. And the show can be a lot of fun if you get the right guy! Some of the drinks come in a little take-home container, a Buddha or a Geisha girl I think. Very cute. And the drinks are tastey, too. I don't drink alcohol with dinner so I'll agree that plenty of times my pepsi has gone dry before the waitress brought me another, but there's also a lot going on so I cut them some slack. The service is always friendly. I gave this place a "moderate pricing" vote because I always get the chicken, so for me it's only about $25. If you get the filet mignon or scallops, though, the price will go up. But considering the price includes your soup, salad, appetizer, and sides (rice and vegetables), it's not that bad!!

I wasn't too impressed with the food, I may have just picked the wrong thing, I ordered the sesame chicken. The rice and vegetables were good but the chicken was pretty dry. The wait staff wasn't really on top of it, my glass was dry a few times. The show was pretty cool; I have been to a few restaurants similar to this in the past. The chef wasn't the greatest, seems like he could have made it a bit more fun. I would go again and order something different.

There are two components to Sakura - Tepanyaki and Sushi. Tepanyaki is certainly their hottest attraction so you need to make reservations ahead of time. The caveat: they don't take them over the phone. Arrive about an hour before you want to eat, put your name on the list, then go shopping and come back :). If you don't do this, you will be expected to wait at least 45 minutes before a table becomes available. The Tepanyaki is about the same as you get anywhere else - sometimes the chefs act a bit too much for my liking (I was starving hungry the first time I came here and the chef insisted on leaving me with only a teaspoon of rice for the longest time :(.). I was impressed with aspects of the sushi. The portions are huge and their special rolls (not listed on the paper sheet) are pretty yummy. The service in the sushi area was really speedy when I last ate on that side, especially considering there was just one waitress and it was new years eve. I was also impressed with the size of each piece of sushi. The one major downside though, was the aftermath in my bathroom... I'm not sure what was wrong with their sushi or if it was just one particular one that I reacted to, but later on it wasn't so pretty :(. So why do I go back? I'd say that this is the best value for money sushi in the c'ville area. And if you're not in the mood for sushi, there are still other options :).

Thanks Yelpers for pointing me to this place. We had dinner here last night, we were pleased with the sushi and the filet mignon. Service overall was pretty good, they do have a kids menu if you're wondering if you can take your kids here without it costing a fortune. They give you a choice of steamed or fried rice with your meal, I would pass on the fried rice it was so greasy. When the chef made it I was shocked to see him drench the rice in their special sauce. Quite unappetizing, it conjured this image in my head of the Nickelodean channel where they pour a bucket of slime on someone.

I've been here several times and love it! The avocado salad is delicious! The steakhouse part is great. The chef was great ... funny and very interactive. I like the sushi. It's not the best ever but it is good.

It's pretty good place. But if you like Sakura in centreville, I suggest that you pay a visit to tysons corner Sakura. it's so much better than the centreville one. I am a big fan of japanese steak houses despite of amazing amount of butter that they tend to use. Food is good and service/show is mediocre. I say mediocre because it's not always good. Some uninspiring chefs don't put too much effort to entertain your dining table and it ruins the experience. Some days are good and some are bad. Inconsistency leads me to give this place 3 stars (only reluctantly.. as Yelp doesn't offer half stars). I also do not suggest that you get sushi from here. If you're a sushi lover, you'll be able to tell that they don't use fresh ingredients, which is a big No No in sushi restaurants. I mean it's there and it's close to me. So I go there when I am out of places to go. It's okay

Came to Sakura on a Sunday afternoon in the mood for sushi/japanese food. Inside the decor and space was nice. There are two sections, one for the Hibachi tables and one for non-hibachi/sushi. This review is for non-hibachi only since we did not sit at the hibachi tables. The sushi was not good. The main issue was the quality of the ingredients. The rice in the sushi was pretty terrible. If Todai sushi is 'average', this was below Todai sushi quality, and Todai is all you can eat! The rolls were poorly rolled. Prices were also very expensive. They didn't have any type of noodles/soup except for a small bowl of miso soup that was several dollar by itself (miso soup SHOULD be complementary with your meal). Overall, the sushi was very poor and expensive.

Sakura has the some of the best sushi I've had in Fairfax so far. The quality is really excellent. It's not very cheap, but with sushi, you definitely get what you pay for. The teppan-yaki is also really good here. The selection of items for the grill is larger than usual. You can get filet mignon for only a couple of dollars more than the regular steak; nice!

Having never tried either Hibachi or filet mignon, this restaurant provided me with more than one new experience. I initially thought it was related to the chain, Sakura Express, that's prevalent in mall foods courts; however, the waiter informed me that it was not. The chef at our Hibachi station (I'm assuming that's what it's called) was awesome! He definitely dazzled our eyes with a ton of tricks! The meal was provided in "courses"- first came the onion soup, which was alright; next came the house salad and dressing, which was awesome (I think the dressing was peanut based); a small appetizer followed- I ordered a portion of sauteed mushrooms; finally, the entree came- I'd ordered a filet mignon (medium) and shrimp. The portions were a bit on the small side, all of the food was amazing. The filet mignon was unfortunately chopped into small pieces, and was consequently significantly less juicy than a steakhouse filet mignon (I'm going by what my roommate told me, as this was my first experience having a filet mignon). I thought the atmosphere was awesome, but keep in my that it was my first Hibachi experience. All told, it was a wonderful meal and dining experience!

This is just a short rant. I haven't been to this place yet. I have been looking for it for a while tho. Using a Garmin and online maps I searched and searched on several occasions, all to no avail. Then one evening we were coming out of Applebees at FairLakes and BAM there it was. Goofy. 12950 and 12951 on the same side of the street. No wonder I couldn't find it!

This place would be so cool if... If it was 1995 and a Japanese steakhouse with the chefs table was a new concept. Screaming kids, sitting by you, and some cheesy tricks. Look out! Catch that shrimp tail! Go to Tsunami in the same Fair Lakes plaza and get great sushi and if other Japanese specialties.

We went here the night it started snowing during one of the insane blizzards this year. It was a friday night and we met a lot of friends, probably about 10, it was enough to fill up a whole table. The food was average hibachi food. Dinner was fine and I would have given this place 3 stars except at the end of the meal instead of turning the vacumny thing on to suck all the smoke out they turned it on backwards i guess..so the vent about the table was open. So we basically got 30 degree air blown on us the whole time we ate. Our food was pretty much cold before we could eat it and we all had to put our coats on during dinner! The waiter came by several times but didnt seem to realize until the end of the meal. Maybe I'll go back in the summer when I dont have the chance to get frozen.

This chain is consistently good and entertaining. That's right "hibachi" is for me more about entertaining. I've never left a hibachi place saying, "wow, food was mind-blowing." Probably never will. I took my father here for his birthday and they treated him like a king. Also took a cousin here for his birthday and they even gave him a little cake. The cooks are hilarious and are very chipper.

A typical teppan restaurant. The service was very good and the cook entertaining. Food was good although did not stand out as being exceptionally good. They have a sushi bar there if you prefer more traditional Japanese food.

Since no "vegetarian" seems to have boldly visited this place to do a review - I want to provide the vegetarian perspective here. We went there on a Friday evening because my daughter wanted to experience Hibachi style cooking on her 7th birthday ( looks like kids are getting way too sophisticated now-a-days!). Being vegetarian, I avoid going to Japanese restaurants because of the lack of choices. Even while I was working in Japan I used to locate the "Shojin cuisine" restaurtants to play it safe. Couldnt escape this one:). Anyways, we got there on a busy prom night but we got seated fairly quckly in front of a hibachi grill - shared the grill with another family of 4. The waitress showed up and when we declared that we were vegetarians - told that there was a "Vegetable dinner" that was available with "Egg Fried Rice". She also cautioned that since Soup had chicken broth in it - that she would bring "Sakura Salad" for us. So far so good. We ordered 3 vegetable dinners and sides of mushrooms (and of course my fav beer Kirin Ichiban). Chef arrived shortly thereafter ( my wife immediately figured out that he was Korean and not japanese and asked me to stop acting like an idiot as I was trying my extremely rusty japanese). The chef tried his best to prepare the meat and non-meat foods separately. But, I got to tell you - if you are WAY too strict a vegetarian this place is definitely not for you as the Chef does very often use the same knife and spatula in between food groups. The only way to remedy this I think is to show up with 4 more vegetarians so that you take over the entire grill. Overall, I liked the experience of going to a Hibachi style place - would repeat ONLY if I can take a big gang of vegetarians!.

This was the fourth time we have gone back to Sakura after our 1st visit. (total of 5 visits). The first was very good, service was OK. Each subsequent visit, there has been a slight deterioration in both service and food, especially the service. Last night was the worst ever. The server, when asked to serve the 4 of us water in addition to our drink order, became overwhelmed and eventually brought two waters for the four of us. When we did get anything, it was after a long wait. The Japanese style salad was swimming in dressing, the miso soup was average to below average. Our "Hibachi chef", who's job is to entertain while cooking, did almost nothing fun after he made the traditional "onion volcano". He never even looked up from the grill on the rare occasion when he spoke. There are plenty of other places to get sushi and or Japanese steakhouse food. I recommend you try those instead.

I give this place 4 stars because of their Sake Sampler! It's SOOOOOO good! It's refreshing to find a Japanese Steak House that has a good Sake selection! If you find yourself here....make sure you get the sampler! It's totally worth it!

The food here is delicious and it is always fun to watch the chef prepare your food in front of you in such an artistic manner. We have been taking our son here since he was a few months old and he always loves when the chef makes a fire with the oil or a volcano out of onions. Some kids can be afraid of the fire, but most chefs will tone it down a little if you request them to.

Love, love, love this place. The teppanyaki and the sushi sides are excellent! Love their fried rice. The manager, David, is always very accomodating. Try to get David or Daniel as the chef. They are excellent.

This is a fun place for "non-Asians". Families love to bring their kids and enjoy the onion volcano and catching of shrimp tails. Overall, the food is pretty good but nothing special. They add a lot of oil to the fried rice, vegtables and meat. If you want your steak medium well, ask for medium. The meat is always overdone. One plus: you get a lot of food for your money. You can get shrimp, a good sized lobster tail, and filet mignon for 30 bucks-plus your rice, veggies, soup, salad and appetizer. Usually, I sit on the sushi side. Their sushi isn' t the best, but its decent. The seaweed salad with cucumbers is pretty tasty. I would recommend the shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna roll.

Typical Japanese steakhouse style. We sat a large group on the steakhouse side and those that asked for sushi menus were looked upon with scorn. How dare these individualistic Americans! The side orders from the steakhouse side were tiny-- I ordered the mushrooms which ended up being 4 spoonfuls for 4 dollars (though they were fantastic fried in herbed butted). The sushi was good for a chain, but slow to receive. Waitress was fairly clueless, even taking away a soup bowl that had been delivered while someone was in the bathroom before they even got back without touching it. Oh well, it was under my per diem and I stuffed myself with as many rolls as I thought possible. No Virginia roll? Dirty South roll? I tease, but I have had an Indiana roll before which would be even crazier.

This is a very solid Japanese steak house. Although I personally felt that the quality of food at Benihana is superior, this place comes in a close second. The better thing about this restaurant though is that the restaurant is better lit than Benihana and also the chef seemed more engaging. If you do not like to interact with new people during dinner this place is definitely not for you as our chef tried to get everyone involved at the table. I had steak, shrimp and scallop at this place and all of it was pretty good. I would be willing to come back here because it was not bad and also the price is better than other similar restaurants.

I went here for the first time with some friends for the hibachi. It was not bad at all and the fried rice was very flavorful unlike some other places I've been to. The sushi selection was very generic and not impressive for the avid sushi-eater like myself. The sake sampler was pretty good. Staff was very attentive and nice and the hibachi chefs were really funny and showed us all a good time. I recommend this for a fun night that doesn't put a dent in your pocket.

I love Japanese steak houses. You get exactly what you get at most hibachi places. I love their yum yum sauce. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is because the waitresses suck. I go here all the time and there always rude and snotty. It's like a hassle for them to be serving. Came here last Saturday, asked if they had a Japanese beer she immediately said no,then I look over at the table behind me and the gentlemen gets served the beer I was asking about. I was not happy about that.

Food was decent even though the fried rice was loaded with that mayo sauce. But that manager will never make me want to go back. We ordered extra food just so we could take it to go. We left the food by accident but drove back within 10 mins. The manager in glasses said they threw it out and just ignored us. He didn't apologize or offer us any compensation. When we complained that we PAID for extra food just so we could take it for carry out, his response was unapologetic and he said normally people don't come back for the food... It was like talking to a wall. It's just so frustrating when they have no remorse and treat their customers with no respect. This was after waiting close to an hour after sitting down since there was no chef to service us. It now made sense when we initially walked in and the manager was engaged in a heated argument with another patron. That guy is bad news and we will NOT be dining here in the future. Otani has just as good food for cheaper prices and will treat you with the respect we all deserve.

Tempanyaki is fun when you're with a group and you have more people who can help be enthralled with the chef who is throwing shrimp in the air and making onion volcanos. I thought it was super neat the first couple of times :-) I'm not real big on sitting next to strangers either so I was happy that we didn't hit the busy lunch hour and ended up with a table all to ourselves. The waitress kind of forgot about us though and we had to flag her down several times. The chicken tempanyaki plate was delicious and my friend liked the lobster/steak combo. We caught up with our lives and tried to eat it all along with the extra spicy tuna and california rolls we ordered. Neither were great and we were so full from lunch. I would definitely pass on the sushi next time.

Love, love, love this place! We go here almost every Friday night for sushi, it's simply the best. We are huge sushi lovers, and of maybe the 7-8 different places we've visited in the area this tops the list. Eugene the waitress is SO sweet and friendly. She remembers our drink orders and the special sauces we both get on the side everytime we're there. Service is fast, and the food is consistently delicious. We've been regular patrons for more than two years now. We've had the hibachi once, it was delicious! We had chicken, steak and shrimp. We just prefer the sushi since it's a "lighter" option; the hibachi is so much food, but never a bad thing when it's delicious! Love this place, can't wait for Friday to go back!

Came in for my birthday on Saturday at 5:30 PM. This place can get crowded early, so be sure to make reservations if you have a large group. If you're there with your spouse or 1/2 friends, they'll wait until they have the next set of 10 people to sit altogether around the Hibachi table. Service was attentive & the orders for the most part were accurate. Food tasted good, however whoever ordered the steak ("Filet Mignon"), had stomach issues shortly afterwards. It had to be the steak, because whoever ordered the chicken, shrimp or salmon were okay. Maybe it was the way it was handled or older, but just be careful ordering the beef. Free slice of cheesecake on the house, with a candle for birthdays!

Average food, nothing spectacular, nothing to write home about. I recently went with my family for my Birthday. Like I said it was okay. The only fun part of the evening was talking to the other family that sat at our table. 1. I ordered Filet Mignon , Shrimp and Scallops. Filet was dry and chewy. NOT worth the prices they are charging. 2. Fried rice was average nothing special. (Nagoya in Ashburn is the best) Wish they would open one in Fairfax. 3. The chef forgot to give our Vegetables. We were almost done with our meal when he finally cooked up the veges. I think his timing must have been somewhat off that night. I probably will not go back there . Not really worth the prices they charge and the meal you get.

I was craving sushi and realized one of my picky coworkers had never experienced hibachi, so we made a plan to have dinner here. Four of us came here and were seated immediately at a hibachi table. A server came over and took an order of water while we looked at the menu. I realized there was no sushi on the regular menu, but the server seemed to have disappeared so i went and got my own sushi menu. When the server came back with the water for our food orders, she took their orders, then saw that I wanted sushi and took the menus from us quickly. We were left realizing none of us had ordered a cocktail and the menus were now gone. She disappeared yet again and we had to flag her down for a cocktail. For some reason, my coworkers got their soup and salad immediately, while I only got my salad and my soup (which was notably better than theirs) was delivered about 15 min later. The hibachi chef was awesome. He was very funny and friendly and one of the best I've seen - he had all of us laughing. The chicken, beef and shrimp were all pretty good and very plentiful - none of my coworkers could eat their whole meals. I ordered the sushi deluxe which came with a california roll and an order of eel. None of the sushi was memorable (not bad in any way, just bland), but surprisingly the california roll was the best I've had in recent memory. I usually avoid this roll because it's boring, but this was more of a crab salad than a crab stick, so it had a fun fresh taste I liked. While I liked this roll, I didn't come here for the california roll, I came for the sushi, so without anything memorable in that department, I can't really rate this place any higher.

I couldn't decide between the two, so I got tuna sashimi for an appetizer and filet for hibachi. They were both Fantastic!! I love the hibachi shows, all the staff was very friendly. The sashimi came in what I would consider large pieces. That was a pleasant surprise for me.

Bottom line: food quality good, portion size terrible and service terrible. Been to this place several times and our experience keeps getting worse. This time however, it was too much. Our party was 5 adults and 2 kids so we ordered 4 appetizer teppans to split amongst 5 adults and 2 kids dishes. After being in this place so many times I am aware of portion sizes and this time we simply got screwed with the amount of food we got. When we talked to the waitress to bring this issue up they just look to the ceiling and plain ignored us. Waitress was distant and when we finally saw her and waved at her to order refills or additional drinks her attitude was annoyed. Mind you restaurant was at 30% capacity so being busy was not an excuse. Seriously if you want to burn. $300 bucks on a family meal, this is not the place to go to...

About once every other year I find myself eating hibatchi and the past 2 or 3 times it has been at Sakura. So when the opportunity came up to take a first timer we knew what to expect at Sakura. We arrived early on a Saturday evening(6:15), but without reservations. I come so infrequently that it didnt even dawn on me. We were told it would be 20 minutes for our party of 4. I guess we were lucky because people who came in moments later were being told it would be an our without reservations. And the place was very packed. The ordering took a little longer than I would have liked, but as I said they were very busy. I ordered ribeye and shrimp. Our chef was very entertaining, kept us smiling. I'll say that he was middle of the road when it comes to his skill with the knife, but still entertaining. The soup was bland and the salad was watery, par for the course at most hibatchi joints. The rest of the meal was good, I was able to finish every last morsel of food. I'm used to being stuffed to the gills after a meal like this, not so much this time. It's probably still my destination for Hibatchi, I'm just not a huge fan of the style. Maybe I'll get sushi next time.

Love this place!! No matter what group of people I am with, everyone goes for a birthday dinner! My go-to is filet and scallops. When I feel like spoiling myself, I add shrimp. The yum yum sauce is my favorite!! I always ask for extra! The drink selection is fantastic! I think I've had one of everything and have quite a collection of novelty glasses. I have a select few favorite chefs and my most recent was Kevin. He was a riot and cooked everything perfectly! It can be pricey depending on what you order, but you won't regret it!

Just went here for sushi lunch. Shrimp tempura roll was awful. Crab tasted bad, shrimp was 'stale' as if it was left over from night before and microwaved too many times. Also ordered 2 pieces of tuna sashimi. Ate 1 piece and it too had an off taste. My friend decided to eat my other piece and when he tried it, he ended up spitting into his napkin because of off taste. Would not go here again.

We typically go to the Sakura in Woodbridge but since we were in Fairfax, we stopped in to grab dinner. The waiting area was packed and then we were given a waiting period of 30 mins to an hour. 10 minutes later the waiting area cleared out and my party of 3 was the only ones left. They were reserving half the room for homecoming so basically we couldn't get a table. They pushed out waiting time to two hours so we left. Absolutely ridiculous and we will never visit this location again. The hostesses were less than accommodating

Would give them a 3.5. Food was decent. Chicken was a little under seasoned and a little dry. Steak was cooked perfectly medium rare the way I like it. As for everything else it was decent. Nothing mind blowing as far as taste. The veggies could of been cooked a little longer and the wait staff was a little slow in getting the steamed rice out. When we first looked at the wine list we thought It was a little expensive for a glass. $8-$9 per. But the glasses were huge and were at least 2 full glasses in one.

Sakura for lunch was in heavy restaurant rotation for quite a while and I'm thinking about putting it back in! I actually really love this place for its cheesy hibachi and enormous amounts of food. The sushi is okay, but I would never really come here just for the sushi anyway. The lunch deals are awesome! Dinner can seem a little pricey after you have gotten used to the lunch prices. I always get the chicken and the filet. They cook that steak absolutely perfectly every time, which just amazes me considering the circumstance. I love the salad dressing (standard ginger and seasame) and the yum yum sauce. The service is pretty good and the restaurant itself is rather pretty. Only drawback is that it can get pretty warm in there during the evening when they have so many grills fired up.

I was recently there for a birthday dinner with a group of friends. Towards the end of the meal my girl friend was hit in the head with a tray from a waiters. Very disappointed on the way the staff and manager handled the situation. All the manager had to say is that if u go to the hospital he would pay for the medical bill. Never once offer to pay for the meal or show some sign of good customer service at all.... Would not recommend this location to anyone because of lack of customer service...

We have eaten her in the past and have always been more than pleased. Took a new family with us tonight and in the past a kids meal came with soup, app and vegetables. Now it comes with nothing. Price is the same. I mean come on that soup is nothing and every meal should come with veggies. Complained to waiter and he just kept looking up at ceiling. No... It's not gods fault. Such a shame. Most likely will not go back. Not worth the money. Can go to Ruth Chris for same price !

Hibachi is good but I go here for the sushi. Hibachi 3.5 stars - kind of stuffy and loud on that side of the restaurant. Sushi 4 stars - I like sitting at the bar and watching the sushi chef's make my food. They have some good varieties of popular Japanese fish too.

**Rating Sushi Bar Only, not Hibachi** Tucked in the corner of Fair Lakes is one of the many Sakuras in the area. This one is one of the biggest and nicest in my opinion. My favorite hand rolls here are the Philadelphia and the Spicy Scallop. Both the salmon and scallop were very fresh and for $6/roll, definitely worth it. The only reason they don't get a 5 star is because of the service. We came late in the evening (8PM) so it wasn't every busy, yet our waitress was not as attentive as I hoped. She did not refill our waters once yet rushed us with our check when we were not even finished eating yet. I will definitely come back, but I'll hope for better service!

Been coming here since my late teens and its done me no wrong. I've never had to wait too long and the food quality has not changed. I usually get filet mignon but my most recent visits were huge sushi feasts. And their dessert, O-M-G, their wafer ice cream sandwich looking treats (sorry I don't know exact name but I posted up a picture of it) IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO INCREDIBLY YUMMY. I was so full by the end of my meal but I ended up eating most of the ice cream. Man...just go look at the picture.

Great food, the ONLY good sushi in the area. The sushi at Tsunami is dreadful and the service at Arigato is rude. I live in the area and only choose to go to this restaurant for hibachi and sushi.

We really enjoyed Sakura. I've been told that the one in Tysons is favored by some friends over this one, but I haven't been there yet, so I can't say. The food is fresh, the atmosphere is fun and the chefs are good. Service is friendly and food is YUMMY! Everything I would expect and want out of a hibachi restaurant!

This place is decent size restaurant. My friend and I most recent visit here has been good. I'm a huge fan of Sakura's tempura. The Yum-Yum sauce is so good, I'm always trying to figure out how to take a quart of it home with me. When it comes to having group dinner at Sakura. I never have any issues making a reservation for 10+ people. The Sushi and Hibachi chefs are always entertaining and funny.

I've been to Sakura many times, and this is one of the bad experience I've had with them. Came with a group of three people for hibachi. It was a disappointment, the show was nice, but the food was not. The hibachi food has always been great, but with this visit, the food is dry and tasteless. And the sushi were not well done, when I picked up the rolls, the otter part started coming off, but the roll still taste great. Service was okay, a little slow. Though, they were quite fast when we ask for the check! Ha! Classic typical restaurant. Anyways, the price is a bit pricy. I ended up spending $120 for three people there. Not sure if I want to come again for the price that I'm paying when the food it's not great.

3.5 Stars. Sakura's have been around forever. You're paying for the show, and the high prices for seafood. They could be frying liver for all I care, as long as they put the Yum-Yum sauce over it! We recently had Illysa S's birthday dinner here. We had a reservation for ten people, we arrived over a span of 10 minutes but were not able to be seated until the whole party was there. That annoys me. We had a reserved hibachi, just let us sit down, but I digress. Miso soup, salad with ginger dressing, a small appetizer of either shrimp, mushrooms or chicken livers, fried or white rice, veggies, bean sprouts and your choice of protein, all served with ginger and yum-yum sauces. I normally get the shrimp appetizer, and the filet and scallops for my entrée. The steak is always melt in your mouth tender (I get mine cooked med. rare), and the scallops are cooker perfectly and never rubbery. My only complaint is the inconsistency of the scallop preparation. I was here a week before and ordered the same thing and received four huge whole, juicy scallops. This current time... the few people who ordered scallops received cut up chunks instead of being served whole. I enjoy the whole scallop being put in front of me... not pieces of it. There were two people in our party with shellfish allergies. One ordered filet the other salmon. Sakura was very accommodating to cook their items before putting any type of shellfish on the cook top, it worked out well. If you run into this issue, let them know, they will work around to but please note, the person with the allergy will get their entrée before you get your seafood appetizer. Tell them to go ahead and eat before it gets cold. The chefs are playful and entertaining creating volcano's out of onions, smiley faces out of vodka and a lighter, flinging shrimp and tossing eggs around. The prices have been raised significantly over the years. Average entrée is running around $28.00-$32.00 so in large groups it can get a bit expensive. I'm a fan... but I mainly just come here for the yum-yum sauce.

This place never dissappoints, it's a great place for big groups or even just a fun dinner for two. It's about $20+ for an entree but it comes with your choice of a small appetizer, ginger salad, miso soup and the entree. I usually get the filet mignon and chicken combo, which comes out tasting delicious especially with the yum yum sauce and extra teriyaki sauce (I always ask extra for a dip). I've also been lucky enough to get fun, exciting and great chefs each time I've came here so definitely no complaints there. Of course it all depends on your chef so just hope your chef knows what they are doing. Never had a problem with service either, they ate attentive and friendly everytime. Oh and their pina colada is something you'll have to try!! Dinner and a show for the win! Also, remember that everyone in your group has to be there in order to be seated. They'll put your name down but you won't be seated.

YES! If I have guests I'll make sure i take them to Sakura because it's awesome! I've always eaten at the habachi table and never at the sushi bar so I can't really comment on that but I'll definitely try it sooner or later. It's a nice place, food is really good, atmosphere is great and at the end you leave happy. To the guy that gave 1 star...seriously? "portion size terrible"?!? SERIOUSLY?!? "Service terrible"?!? SERIOUSLY?!? They give you giant portions and if it's your birthday they even give you a really big slice of cake FOR FREE!!! Now it would have been nice if they sang too but hey! Can't blame them for not singing!

When i'm craving hibachi Sakura is the place i go!! Fairlakes or Tysons. Yes it's not cheap but mannnn do they give you tasty food with a show! We had ivan last night and he definitely knew how to make our food taste wonderful! they start you off with miso soup and a salad, both to my liking. I ordered the ribeye with shrimp and chicken livers app! i dont eat chicken livers anywhere else!! Gotta love their yum yum sauce and their ginger sauce!! Steak was cooked to what i asked, shrimp was great, and the chicken livers were MONEY!!!!! We also had scallops maybe a little too much salt but it was cooked to perfection. So if you're craving some hibachi and dont mind the cost head over to Sakura! but better to make reservations or call ahead to see what the wait is.

This is our go-to place for fresh sushi and generous portions. Ming, the head sushi chef, was recruited by the owner from Sushi-Ko. You can tell he knows what he is doing, and he makes it a priority to order the freshest fish. My favorites are the Tuna Cilantro Jalapeno roll and the Lump Crab California Roll. As for the teppanyaki tables, I think your food is going to be as good as the chef you get that night. My brother used to be a teppanyaki chef, so I have eaten more than my fair share of teppanyaki meals. The quality of your meal based on how it is seasoned and how the food is cooked can vary greatly. That being said, I find Sakura's food superior to local competitors by a great margin - love their dipping sauces and their ginger salad dressing is the BEST!

This is a local restaurant so I decided to stop by for lunch on a Sunday. I didn't want to sit by the Hibachi grill itself, so I asked if I can sit in the other area. Apparently, you are unable to sit in the other area unless you order sushi. Strange rule! The sushi is actually pretty good. The Soft Shell crab is great. The tuna is pretty good. I ordered fried rice & it was terrible...bland absolutely no flavor! Service - one of the worst & rudest waitresses I've ever had. She took 15 minutes just to take our order. A table that arrived after we did had their order taken & food served before we did. And there were only two tables taken in the entire area! The waitress NEVER bothered to refill my drink & even forgot to place my order of fried rice. I had to walk up to her & ask for the check. She walks up to the table w an attitude, basically throws the check on the table & walks away. Again, I had to chase her down to give her my card. I won't go back to this place.

First time to try Hibanchi and I am very satisfied with my experience here. The food is not special, but the whole experience of enjoying the Hibachi is worth coming here every now and then. I would go there again for sure and I would recommend it to the whole family. The service and the staff are nice, and our chief was very entertaining and funny and knows what he is doing.

This is one of my new fav hibachi around. The guy preparing food was very social and cooked everything perfectly, family friendly or a date night you can alway get a good meal here.

Sakura never disappoints! Always great service, and the chef is always enthuastic and fun. Clean place. And food is always what it should be/ and more. Very generous portions, and a lot is included with your meals. Salad, soup, sides. I think it's a good price for what u get. Never been to any other Hibachi, like Sakura but I did order a dish from another Japanese place that had hibachi option on there menu. Definitely Not as good, and the yum yum sauce was nothing compared to sakuras. Iv seen menu prices and others are either the same or maybe a dollar or two less. But Sakura satisfies to the fullest, so I never had any other reason to try another place.

Very friendly staff, typical hibachi dinning area. I've only had sushi take out once prior to tonight therefore had no expectations. Having been to many hibachi restaurants to compare this one to, the food here was mediocre at best. There seemed to be a problem with the ventilation because the amount of smoke on the hibachi side resembled being inside a hookah bar!!! I requested miso soup rather than onion soup which I enjoyed along with the side salad with tasty ginger dressing (both 4 stars). I ordered steak and shrimp both tasty, cooked as requested. The rice was crispy and tasted a tad burnt... The chef was nice but barely interactive which is not that important since all places are nearly the same, I'd rather just get my food cooked but sorry for those who have never experienced "the show" based on this guy they would have had to YouTube it. I gave 3 stars because the food wasn't that bad and the service was great but 2.5 for food and smokiness solely if there was a clear rating distinction.

*3.5 stars* This place is a lot of fun with large groups. It is spacious and well kept. They keep you entertained as they cook up the food you've ordered. They interact with you and make you do things like try to catch a piece of meat with your mouth that they've slung from the grill. Instantaneous laughs from everyone. For your meal, you start with a soup and salad that are prepared in the kitchen. Then you choose from chicken, beef or seafood options as your base to be cooked on the hibachi. Fried rice is cooked here as well. Although I can be picky, I always enjoy the food here enough. It's nothing to knock your socks off, but it's filling. Service is "meh" as well. Make sure everyone in your large group arrives together and on time. Even if you have reservations, they will not seat you unless everyone is there, possibly even giving away your seats depending upon how long it takes for the slacker(s) to show up.

First time trying this restaurant out. Everything seems to be OK until the server forced me twice to take steamed rice. I ordered my food without onions, and fried rice without onions. He told me it's pre mixed in the rice. The hell it's not. The onions we're pre mixed in the vegetables. And the vegetables are on top of the rice. After the third time I insisted on taking fried rice. He said OK we'll manage. Smh, lazy.

Fun and filling! I love the show you get with dinner and literally the best fried rice ever! One day I'll be able to catch the shrimp in my mouth...
