had a tasteless burger here, how hard is it to make a burger? service was okay, server gave my change to the wrong guy, who was white, and im black? chairs were quite uncomfortable im never eating here again no matter how cheap it is or if they show soccer

Our crew visits here at least once a week. Tables and floor areas can be dirty at times. You will have to track down a staff member to clean. Food: The chicken fingers are unique and with a little guidance to the staff, they are crispy, yummy delicious. Great variety of wings. Drinks are OK; you really have to know what you want and guide your server if you want something special. Otherwise, stick to the mighty beer. Service: Staffers are hit or miss; some are stellar while others seem to checkout reflecting on GMU tests or other life matters. Overall, service can be slow due to the location being so understaffed during high volume periods.

This place was pretty good on the appetizers and drinks. The only thing that messed up was the waiter who messed up on my drink prices for happy hour, but he fixed it. That being said I only had the nachos and wings, as this place looked like that bar food was its specialty. Overall pretty cheap.

Worst. Service. Ever. The last two times my friend and I went, we were seated and ignored. No one came. The place wasn't even really busy at all. We'd wait 10-15 minutes and then just walk out. One time a manager spotted us and asked us what happened. He looked pretty irritated, but instead of trying to fix things with us, he sought out the servers to scold them. I guess maybe this happens often? The door bouncers at night are assholes. They'll let all their friends cut to the front of the line-lots of them. And just laugh at you while you stand at the front door waiting to get in. The buffalo wings aren't that great. I love that there are a variety of flavors, but the wings themselves aren't very memorable. The atmosphere is somewhat trashy. It's terribly smoky with a very young and obnoxious crowd...and seriously, I'm not even old.

I stopped for Lunch. There were no lunch specials as you would find at BWW. Service was slow and the wings are just average. Based on the name, I would have expected Wing Perfection, not just average. Seems to be more of a "Hang Out" drinking place for local students.

Tooooo freaking hot. It's a sauna in there for Fridays happy hour. Bartenders completely ignored one side of the bar to the point I just bought a beer off one of my friends who happened to have extras. Boooo Wings are just o.k. Only reason they get 2 stars is because the bottle domestic beers were $1 till 9 p.m. Word to the wise, wear underarmor or a nike dri-fit outfit there on Friday nights.

I love this place. Great for football games, random week nights, and the occasional bar holiday. The U is a great spot to hang for a few. With Virginia's new smoking policies, the place has only improved. The food is always spot on, with healthy portions and great flavor, and if you have any issues the staff and management are always friendly and accommodating. Need to break up the work week with some play? I'd suggest a weekday visit for bull pong or cornhole, for good fun and great prizes.

BWU had one of the best happy hours around so I can look past a lot of its faults. Dollar domestic bottles Thursdays from 5(?)-9. Yuengling for a buck. You can really beat that. They also had $2.50 bomb (rail shot and flavored water) all day. The food isn't bad either. Typical bar food. The achilles heal of this bar is the is the crowd it attracts and the service can be slow sometimes. Probably the largest concentration of bros and dbags of any bar in Fairfax. Another thing that keeps it from getting 4 stars is the volume of the music. This isn't a club or a lounge, its a bar. Its loud enough from people talking when it's crowded. The music shouldn't be so loud that you can't hear the person across from you talk. Go with a group of friends early and get one of the tables by the bar and avoid the corn-hole and pong games at all costs.

I would agree with the commenter who said that this place should be called buffalo wing community college, but I WENT to community college and I would never want to insult NOVA like that. Shortly: Just don't bother. Go to Hard Times. Go to Bridges. Go to Shebeen. Not here. Dollar bottles? Isn't every other place having in Fairfax having that special? I wish this place would die a quick death and be replaced by something better already, its depressing to look at.

They should rename this place buffalo wing community college, as there is no way anyone is getting a masters degree in buffalo wings from this place! Its saying a lot that i dont eat wings, and yet was still completely repulsed by this place. My girls came here for the wednesday night 14.99 all you can eat wing night. I will admit thats a good deal. The place was easily able to accomodate 20 teenage girls and our waiter was really good about doing separate checks. He got an awesome tip from me! But the rest of the experience.... well... not so good. I decided to just get a wrap. i went with the chicken club wrap, without bacon. Well all i really got out of this wrap was a whole lot of ranch dressing. Seriously! It was everywhere. The only thing that redeemed this meal was the ability to pay $1.50 extra and get curly fries. That was exciting. While i didn't eat any of the girls wings, i did look at them. Man did they look disgusting. The fries looked like they came from the high school cafeteria. And while they advertise like 20 flavors of wings, they aren't really flavors. They are really just wings covered in some kind of dressing or sauce. The honey mustard and ranch wings just looked awful. So overall, i have absolutely no need to ever come back. I am more than capable of chugging ranch dressing at my house, if i ever feel the neeed to consume that much in one setting.

Best wings in the Fairfax area. I think of this primarily as a college bar. Even though I've been hitting this place up since high school. Depending on what your needs are, you may want to check the schedule of events for the restaurant. If you're in no mood to deal with college kids, then this may not be the place for you, ever. But if you really want some good wings, and a good spot to watch any sporting event, this is my favorite place near George Mason to go. note: they discontinued the mediteranean wings - which are my fave, but if you ask for them, there are still a few vet chefs that know the recipe and will be happy to make it for you...

I'm not sure how to write this review. This is a GREAT Sports Bar to go with friends. Lots of Big TVs. Lots of beer on tap and the staff is happy to put your game on for you. As for the "wings"..... please go elsewhere if you are just looking for good chicken wings. The wings here are terrible. The rest of the food is avg. Nothing to write home about but you can find something to satisfy you while you drink tall glasses of beer and scream at your team.

Not bad. The wings were excellent, but they were small. 9.2 out of 10 Friendly staff A little pricey compared to similar places Not as good as Glory Day's in atmosphere and wings I might go back

Anyone who goes to a place called Buffalo Wing University located in an old strip mall wanting anything but beer specials and pitchers of Natty Light probably deserves to be disappointed. This is a great place to drink Natty Light with people who you will regret ever talking to. It doesn't purport itself to be anything other than that so I can't give it less than 3 stars.

This place is blah. The wings arent that good, when i went it was a late tuesday night and they were pretty much dead.... except for the kids all the way in the back of the restaurant playing beer pong.... well red bull pong.... who were extremely rowdy and obviously had nothing else to do with their time Back to the food... the wings weren't that good... i tried the honey barbeque wings... the celery i paid extra for looked dead.... the waitress wasn't that helpful... service was lacking... she seemed to be paying more attention to the guys in the back jumping around playing "red bull pong"... what stuck out the most was the horrible music.... i don't know what was worst... the outdated music or the drunk guy in the back thinking he was a rapper.... the experience was blah... i dont think i will be back.... ever

We went here on a Sunday afternoon for some football. I wanted to see my Eagles, and my friend wanted to watch the Redskins. I rolled in 10 minutes before kickoff, and got a table right in front of the TV showing the Eagles. The Redskins were on a couple TVs. They had $8 domestic pitchers and $12 imports/crafts... that made me happy. The sauce for the wings was pretty good, but the wings were small and greasy. I ordered grilled chicken tenders with one of the sauces/spices (Caribbean) and they were pretty good. I would definitely go that route, and avoid the wings. Also, Bud Light promoters were there and they gave us free beer. Win.

Date Attended: 02/20/10, Saturday Met up with some friends to catch the UFC PPV fight. No cover charge, we had our own little corner spot to chill. Ordered some food, drinks, and were good to go. The food is decent, not great, but good nuff. It's pretty spacious inside, definitely a plus for that. Would come back.

I have had a poor experience here. Food was pretty high and of poor quality (burgers were terrible). Customer service stinks: had to ask for drink refills and two of us (had separate checks) were both short-changed and had to ask for the remainder of the change. (if you decide to go and pay in cash, ALWAYS make sure to check your change as it seems like they don't like giving out coins - they gave us each $1.00 when we only needed $0.80). Yes, not very significant but to the budget-focused person, this is important.

  • Vanessa P.

I'll agree with everyone else here who says service is terrible. The food is decent, no the best buffalo wing in town though. It's probably better to order wings from Domino's than to go to BWU, sit around be ignored and eat mediocre food. If you decide to stop here, get a seat in the restaurant (I haven't had bad service in the dining area), not at the bar.

Just returned from the 'all you can eat' Wednesday special at this joint. I haven't been to this place in a couple months but the last time I came I had a decent but unmemorable experience so I decided to check it out again with a couple friends. I was initially worried about having to wait in line for hours on end like at other local wing joints on nights where the wings are discounted, but I was pleasantly surprised to get seated immediately. One thing I did notice upon walking in was the smell of what can only be described as "wet socks" being a college bar/restaurant you can only expect the cleanliness to be sub-par but to have the joint smell like a college locker room is just plain unacceptable. The place was decently filled but not "packed", supported by the fact that there wasn't even a wait to be seated. There were only two large groups seated in the middle consisting of about 10 and 15 people respectively. All in all it was busy but not to the extent that it should cripple the wait/cook staff. Our waitress seated us and got our drink orders fairly quickly and after having some time to mull it over we chose our wing flavors and then the waiting began...It took her about 1:15 - 1:20 hours to get our initial order. The wings were pretty standard fare, nothing remarkable and not worth paying full price for, the "celery" we got with our wings looked like it came from the bottom of a cardboard box and chopped with a dull butter knife..not that it mattered anyway seeing as we only got 1.5 pieces between the two of us. We finished eating that order and waited around for another 20 minutes. After finally flagging a waitress down we ordered another helping of wings and began the waiting game yet again. This time we waited for about 30 - 40 minutes for our food, also we requested napkins to clean off our fingers (aren't they supposed to bring out sani-wipes with the wings?) and I was forced to eventually raid the men's restroom and take the paper towels because the wait staff either forgot or didn't care. By this time we got so sick of being completely ignored by the wait staff in favor of the two large groups in the middle, we just walked out after leaving cash and 0 tip on the table. Save your time, money and olfactory senses and go to one of the multitude of other sports/college bars in this area to get better wings and service in a cleaner environment.

BWU is, in many ways, a terrible place. But if you're thirsty on a Thursday afternoon, craving some very unhealthy food, or want to watch a game then it is very acceptable. Since ownership changed, the place has been trying to become more family-friendly which isn't the wisest idea in an area where half the bars recently closed while a handful of chain restaurants just opened up. Other than that, $1 domestic bottles during Thursday happy hour is really unbeatable. There are a lot of different specials throughout the week that they no longer advertise heavily so ask. Service works like this: if you know the bartenders or servers, it'll be good. Otherwise, it's hit or miss. Service is probably better on the dining side where there's also no smoking and I don't think specials apply. It's great during football season as nobody else in the area has this many TVs. If they still have it, you can go in Sunday mornings before an early game and get some ridiculous special on beers. If you are hungry and drunk, the food is fantastic. Otherwise, except for the wings, it is probably all available in your local grocer's freezer section. The wings are as good as might be expected from a college/sports bar specializing in wings. They're working on getting an entertainment license.

Boy has this place changed! My wife and I used to be regulars here, then they changed the menu and took off some our favorite sauces. We gave it another try last Sunday and were once again disappointed. The sliders weren't as good as they used to be (almost like they were commercially frozen) The wings had no bite. Plus there were gnats all over the place. We sat in the booth area and at first I thought we were where someone had spilled some fod. So we moved a couple of times. The waitress apologized but said they didnt know what else to do. Well, if they were in the dining area I can just imagine what the kitchen was like. All in all, a 2nd bad experience in this place. I think the managment must have changed. Too bad. It used to be such a nice place.

College sports bar serving wings. Everywhere you turn there's a tv showing some sports game. The night I went, they were out of sweet tea :*( I was a little sad, but got over it. The good thing about the place is that there are a bajillion sauces that you can choose from to put on your wings. Don't think you can try and get in on the price break and buy 50 wings and try 2-3 different sauces.. NOPE not allowed - you HAVE to order them by 10s if you want to try different flavors. BOO. Plus their wings are super greasy. My tummy hurt for a while after eating 10 wings there.

This place turns into wanna be yo-pro and gmu central on Tuesday's and thirsty Thursdays. You really can't beat dollar beers happy hour and over 20 types $2.50 super sugary shooters that will give you an incredible sugar headache if you have more than three. Tuesday offers 49 cent wings, that you can't beat. On Thursday's it's 25 wings for 13.99, and only 21+. There also tends to be a line on thursdays, so try to get there before 7 . The outside patio becomes your smoking corner also. There are tvs everywhere, but sometimes the servers get a little rude and won't change the tv to your game. Food is average. Can't go wrong with the curly fries and the wing sauce choices. Never had anything else though. Not a bad place if you're trying to get some wings and watch a game. Good place if you're looking for a happy hour hangout.

It surprising to me that I've neglected to review BWU considering we've gone about twice a month for a few years now. It must be that I always knew I was going to give it a three, despite the fact I love it so. They have, decent wings(when fresh), a wide selection of beer, lots of drink specials (to include the return of the bomb list, new and updated), bunches of tvs(although many of them are old hurting tube tvs), happy hour food specials, and friendly employees. The place itself is kinda dark, not a whole lot of natural light makes it past the front windows; a lot of the bar stools need attention, very wobbly, missing supports. Its a fun spot to grab a happy hour but not somewhere I seek out to get dinner. But happily I'll be going back this afternoon.

  • Mike K.

Ugh. This place is where people go to complain about their lives and drink cheap beer. The food isn't very good and neither are the waiters. The wings aren't breaded and just tossed in the sauce right out of the frier. They have a ton of beer on tap and I've never seen so many bottles of Burnett's Vodka before in my life. But when you see the type of people that frequent this place, it doesn't surprise you.

I got wings on a Friday night. There are good deals and the sauces are delish- however, I got hair in my wings...2 times the SAME night! and the manager was not going to comp me until i showed him the second hair. It was disgusting. GAG Unfortunately I still like the place so I might take another gamble on the hairy wings!

    (2)
  • Yan W.

The food here is... okay. I've gotten carry out wings here and just to me honest, for not having any customers on a 3:30 on a Friday, somehow they were magically very slow about getting food out the door. The clerk was nice, though. i can see how it would be great for college kids on a budget, but alas, not my style.

  • Maree W.

We called and ordered wings-to-go for a party we hosted this past weekend. Although the girl taking phone orders was great and the order was ready to go in 20 mins, these wings were small, dry, bland and way, way overpriced. At $1 per wing, I should have just ordered from the Hooters down the street. I wanted to help out a local business, but if you can't make good wings and your name is Buffalo Wing University, I'm gonna have to pass.

I went here while I was waiting for an appointment at Salon Mint. I ordered a buffalo chicken salad and they gave me salad that was rotten. You know how you leave salad in a bag and it starts look like sea weed, all wet and translucent? Well this is what they tried to feed. me. They tried to fix the situation but after you see that do you really want another dish from the same kitchen? I paid for my bottle water and got out of there fast. This place reminds me of a bar at Radford University, but at least the food there was good.

  • Kevin J.

I have only been to the bar area and the service is terrible. The bartenders would rather sit there and talk to their friends than work (actually, so would I....I wonder if I can get a job here). The waitresses (if you choose to get a table in the bar area) do the same thing. I asked for a beer once and the waitress said she would get it as soon as she smokes a cigarete. Ok... I mean this place is run by retards, seriously. The cocktail waitresses were probably the girls who were too stupid to get a job at hooters around the corner (hey, say what you want about hooters those girls work for their tips at least). I can see the interview now (at hooters) "Were sorry Miss _____, but you just dont have the brains for this job" Sad thing is, they probably go to George Mason University...wait so did I.

Picture in your mind what you'd think a typical college sports bar would be, then add in a bunch of GMU students and LOTS of smoke -- presto, welcome to the U (as they affectionately call it ... but by no means is this a place for higher learning). First - the atmosphere. Big bar, plenty of space and lots of tables and chairs which are often used as crutches by those stumbling college kids that have had one to many Jager bombs. Yes, this is a college bar no doubt. During the evening one of our future leaders of America that was sitting next to me rolled up Captain Black PIPE tobacco into a paper TABLE NAPKIN and gave it a go. It promptly shot up in flames. Pure genius I tell you. Second - the food and drink. Given the college crowd this place caters to, you can be rest assured you can get your drink on -- and on the cheap. Every day they have new specials, and you can always try your hand at the "happy hour wheel" and give it a spin. Surprisingly, the food here isn't to bad. Yes, it's hard to mess up typical bar fare, wings especially, but the food coming out of the kitchen works for what it is. And lets be honest, the bar isn't set to high since 1/2 of the folks eating probably can't taste their food anyway ... Third - the entertainment. Well, beyond just watching everyone make complete asses of themselves, there actually are plenty of TVs to watch the games -- including a nice big projector screen. They even pipe in pay per view fights, which is a bonus. So all in all, if I were still in college I'd give this place five stars no doubt. But ever since my liver sent me that thoughtful thank you note after I graduated, I'll give it a solid three.

    (3)
  • Alan S.

This place is horrible, it takes you 30 minutes just to get a drink order (Multiple Occasions too), then it'll take another 20 minutes to get your order taken, and then another 35 minutes to get your wings, and then 20 minutes to get your server to tell them you need your BILL, then another 15 minutes to get the actual BILL, then God help you if have a credit card instead of cash...........Oh heavens.... Plus check your BILL cause 9 out of 10 time your BILL WILL BE WRONG!

    (1)
  • Nikki D.

The service here is terrible. I think that perhaps I have gone here when it has been at capacity, so the servers are stretched, but still. I've gone and waited an hour for a server. The food is at best, mediocre. Their wings are tiny and lack meat. The only thing I like is the fact that you can smoke at the bar...but who knows how long that will last.

This place is ver interesting for the fact that I knew the preious owner. When BW was first established, it was the bumb for middle age business man to have cold drink and feasting on hot young waitresses with your eyes. It also was very good place to pick up chics. Clean enviornement, good service, hot girls, good for kids too, because resturant is physically divided into bar and resturant area. However, that's all in the past, original owner left and place has lost it's mojo. Serive is slow, food is less than average, place is cold and loud. However, the serive is depending on which waitress service you. Some are very good, some just don't want to work. I'll say this place is luck of draw... somenight it's very good, some night's it sucks!. That's all because of service. Good choice of drink: beer, rail, mixed... lots of munchy... Interestingly this place serves very good nacho salad(?) and mini burgers. I think they should change the name to Nacho, mini burger Unniversity. Price is good both during happy hour and non-happy ours.

Back in 2006, my friends had a happy hour every Tuesday night at BWU. The wings were tasty and cheap as was the beer. The clientele was what you would expect from a college bar, but nothing too sketchy. At that point, I would probably have given BWU three stars. Fast forward to last night (4/2/2009), and it's definitely getting one star. I was out with some pals at Hard Times and we got a hankering for some wings, so we decided to reconvene at BWU. I arrive first and wait by the door for the rest of the peons. After a couple of minutes, I see a guy staggering up to the front with blood streaming down his head. Apparently somebody whacked him with a bottle. He gets cleaned up and then rushes outside to participate in some kind of royal rumble in the parking lot. By this time, the rest of my party had arrived and we decide to hightail it out of there. Unfortunately, the cops arrive at this point (with guns drawn), and block my car in. We're still hungry, so we head to Hooters and come back later for my car. Needless to say, BWU is banned!

My girlfriend and I went there on a weekday night at about 8 or 9. There were maybe 5 other tables besides us, plus some people at the bar. We sat for about 5-10 mins waiting to put in our drink orders. We got our drinks fairly quickly and so we figured it was just an oddity. Well, 20 minutes after our drinks got there we were putting in our food order. At this point we were starving. We were told the whole menu was available (they only make wings and appetizers after a certain time), so we ordered a burger and some wings. AN HOUR after we put the order in, we were told that they had turned off the grill and couldn't make our burger, so they had put EVERYTHING on hold...the burger, the wings, and the appetizers. We changed the order, hoping that wings would be out in a few minutes. Not exactly...FINALLY our food came out, two hours and 45 minutes after we got there...The order was wrong (we had ordered hot and mild wings, potato skins, and a dessert. We got two orders of cold mild wings.) At this point we were starving, so we just scarfed it down and left...Unfortunately, both of us got sick the next day, so it might not have been worth it. All of this was coupled with the fact that our waiter was talking very loudly about the "jerks" and (4 letter words) at the other tables because they left him bad tips...Honestly, I used to be a server for almost two years. I know what it's like, and I usually tip VERY well...this is the FIRST time I have left nothing for a tip, and honestly I doubt I will ever be returning. If you come here, come with a group and act like you'll tip well or you'll get horrible service.

the place is awesome with lots of college people mingling but the bouncer there are a douche-bag that are racist and incompetence to talk nicely to customer and really giving it a bad reputation.

    (3)
  • Kelly K.

The wings were soggy, not crispy like i like them. The service was mediocre at best. And all is way over priced. Be warned...if you are ordering take out, you are not eligable for the specials. I'm not going back.

This is my go-to wing place when I am feeding my lonesome. It's no frills but lots of things(beers, shooters, and of course tons of wings). Parking is easy, the location is in the Safeway strip mall. The bar area is very large, lots of bar stools and tables. During this visit, it was a pick-up meal. There are many sauces for the wings. My preference is a boneless wing. Their boneless wings are gigantic compared to those 'other wing' places. My favorite sauce is their garlic spicy sauce. The wings also reheat very well. Service is standard, quick and easy.

I always try a small cup of the hottest stuff at every one of these kinds of places so I tried their "DOA" sauce. I am embarrassed to say it nearly killed me. My face went pale and I broke into cold sweats, then began to pray and cry for my mommy. Suffice it to say I will NOT be doing their DOA Challenge. Good food but I'm not impressed with the speed of their kitchen.

Eh....food is ok, pretty greasy and not just talking about the wings. Burgers are kind of greasy, more like what you would expect from a fast food restaurant as opposed to a full service restaurant. They do have a super selection of wings. My favorite are the Maryland wings, sometimes referred to as the Old Bay wings. They are more of a dry rub seasoning and are really good. Unfortunately getting back to the greasy part, the Maryland wings at Buffalo Wing are unusually greasy and usually don't sit well on my stomach because of all of that grease. Haven't eaten at Buffalo Wing for sit down service in quite a while. If you go at an off-time, service is much better than if you go at a super crowded meal time, where you sit and wait for what seems like, eons! We usually do carry out and it takes 30 minutes or so to prepare before we pick up the food. That is a reasonable amount of time, though frequently when arriving home with the wings, they are already greasy having been sitting, sloshing around in the oil for god knows how long. If they are being prepared from scratch, they shouldn't be dripping some 40 minutes after ordering. If you are close and have a hankering for wings, try Buffalo Wing University. Maybe you'll get lucky and your wings and food will come out great and low on the greasy scale.

Came here with a couple of friends for happy hour on a Thursday. Not sure when happy hour here started, but we got there at 7:30pm and there were $1 beers till 9. They also had a list of bombs that were $3 each. All of the bombs that I got were so good! (Sour puss, Pom Bomb and my friends got The ninja and jolly rancher). I didn't really eat much but I nibbled off of my friend's curly fries and it was really good. Pleasant surprise. I'd definitely come again.

  • Evan C.

Ill be honest the only reason i come here is for the price. That being said I come here all the time because im cheap. On thursday they have $1 beer bottles which is almost unheard of nowadays. The wings are small as noted here and my rule of thumb is if the sauce is too complicated its probably not good. I usually stick with the classic buffalo or the new orleans dry rub. Security staff is always nice but as with most places with deals like this it can occasionally attract a seedy crowd. That wont stop over me from cheap beer and food!

This is my go-to place for UFC fights or for casual meet-ups with old friends. The many television screen displays are great for when you're in big groups and need to view any sports event from any side of the tables! I really enjoy the shooters and IPA selections they have too. Sometimes when it's slow, you can play water pong in the back of the bar, and I remembered there being a free photo booth during Halloween two years ago. If you want to find get more out of this bar, check out their weekly deals and events! It's mostly a college scene, so don't be surprise when you see many young 20-somethings--plus the noise level is pretty high.

My friends and I go here to watch the UFC. Usually the service is good. If you happen to get a tall overweight Pilipino with glasses ask for someone else. He's the only one that has been really bad at his job. Prices are reasonable. The food itself is nothing to write home about.

If it's a Wednesday night and you want all you can eat amazing wings and da bomb service, park your ass at a table at buffalo wing university with ridiculously great fresh chicken wings and robert l. our server was on top of everything we had an awesome time tonight eating wings and laughing prompt refills and always on top of everything. We love to spend Wednesday nights here. Come to buffalo wing university seriously

We ordered takeout-like 30 wings- and when we got home found out that they'd given us the wrong kind of wings. Drove all the way back in rush hour to switch them out and the staff was not very apologetic at all. Their opinion? Well we got our food, what's the problem? Never mind that it was an hour later and we still had to drive back home again. Don't think we'll be back.

I absolutely LOVE buffalo wings so when I found this place I was really excited. I ordered several orders of buffalo wings (extra crispy) for carryout. When I arrived I went to the bar to pick up my carry out. It took a long time to get anyone to help me (or even acknowledge my existence) and the restaurant was very dirty. Once I was finally able to get someone's attention I was taking aback by how unfriendly they were. They definitely didn't try to be personable or nice at all. Apparently something went wrong with my order and I had to sit around and wait for more than 25 minutes (even though I had called my order in more than 30 minutes prior). No apologies. Wings were not extra crispy as I had ordered and were extremely small for a place named Buffalo Wing University! Yuck... Never went back.

It's a dive bar, but I enjoy it. The wings and sauces are great! Their curly fries are awesome too! Tuesday and Thursdays are $1 Bottle Nights, you get a lot of the NOVA/GMU kids showing up so it's really a college themed bar. Alex is by far one of the hottest bartenders in the DMV! She's smokin hot! Their service is VERY slow on the $1 Beer Nights since it's PACKED! Trivia Nights, and lots of promos. Worth checking out if you like wings and/or beers! (Lots of beers on tap)

Great place for college kids on a Thursday night! $1 beers! If you don't want to go for drinks, they have daily deals listed on their website as well! I've gotten half priced wings and they taste great. The only bad experience I had was I asked for bbq sauce for my fries because I don't like ketchup, and they charged me because they thought it was for my wings.

Came here randomly for a business meeting and left with a smile ! Can't beat the unlimited wings for under 20 bucks ( only Wednesdays ) ! Literally you can sit there all day and eat unlimited wings! So many types of wings.. It will have you come back for more ! They have daily specials 7 days a week, Definitely coming back.

Went today for lunch with a couple coworkers. The waitress took our orders and returned promptly with the drinks. My sweet tea was very warm, to the point the ice had melted. Took maybe 30 minutes to get our wings (we ordered 40). The 5 general tao wings where decent. The rest where barely edible. Cold, dry or soggy. The curly fries where good, nachos where terrible. More like a plate of chips with some sour cream and a hint of beef/salsa. Throughout our meal an employee was on a ladder next to us cleaning out a vent in the ceiling. After she brought us the check and we left payment, it took her another 15 min to run the card. Will not return.

Best wings around. It's a college bar scene Thursday thru Saturday but the wings are worth the visit.

This place is exactly like Buffalo Wing Factory but slower service. My sister and I sat at the booth for about 10-15 minutes just to get our order. And there was only 2 tables he had and it was 3 people at each table. Before that, he brought out water that was straight up from the tiolet, even the lemon couldn't hide it. I eventually ordered a sweet tea because one of my order of wings were spicy and I wasn't in the mood for tiolet water. We ordered the curly fries and I expected that to come out for an appetizer but I had to remind him AFTER he gave us our wings. There are a variety of different sauces from spicy ranch to general tso's. My favorite sauce is peppery parmesean and it's always good. Tuesdays are .60 cent wings and Wednesdays are all you can eat! So come these days if your broke and hungry!

We went for dinner the other night and had a great experience. The manager, Casey, came by a few times to check on us and ensure everything was up to our satisfaction. Kyle was our server and was on top of everything we needed. It was definitely a pleasant experience and would go back again.

We have been going to this restaurant bar on and off for a few years. The menu was bigger from what I remember the year two ago it's too bad because there corndogs used to be really good we had a lot more barfood . We recently went to watch the World Cup. Even though our waiter was nice it was hard to get his attention the wings are pretty good the fries were cold and soggy the burger was not great in fact made me sick later on. The bathrooms are not the cleanest in fact the men's room water was not working so they had little tiny wet wipes instead they did not even have paper towels. And to order another beer was almost impossible. They used to be a lot better I'm not sure what happened maybe lack of management, I really hope they clean up their act and improve because it is a convenient place to go to watch a game. As of right now none of us are going to go back.

First of all, very limited menu. So second of all, as the name would indicate, one would assume the wings would be a safe bet. I ordered ten boneless wings, for $9.99. After 25 minutes I receive these wings. They were, tiny. Some of the smallest wings I've ever seen. So I receive ten of these for ten dollars essentially. To top it all off, these wings were dry af. It seems like one of the restaurants from Bar Rescue. Not pleased. Currently in the drive thru of the nearby McDonald's as I type this. I hope I never even hear the name of this restaurant again.

You can't go wrong on a Tuesday night, when they have their $1 beer special, but you can go very wrong when you go any other day of the week; especially on a Thursday (you have the $1 beers, but about 500 more people, all college kids). The food is so-so, all traditional bar food. If you're looking for anything even remotely healthy, you're up for a challenge at Bdubs, but if you're looking to shove your face after indulging in 7 dollar bottles, them the food will suffice. The service is also mediocre and tends to run really slow, especially on busy nights. But it's one of those places where what you pay for is what you get.

They have a ton of different wing flavors which is good. I go there occasionally for the wings, the rest of the food seems ok too but the wings are pretty good!

I went specifically for the D.O.A. challenge and was soundly defeated. I am no stranger to spicy dishes, but I literally had a moment of pure, unadulterated panic at one point. The challenge is no joke. I need to regroup in a couple of months and try it again. The challenge: 10 D.O.A. wings in 10 minutes; no sauces, drinks, other food, or napkins (the worst part). The prize: A BWU t-shirt! Overall, BWU is a casual college dive bar. There is an area for cornhole, and it's appropriately dim and dingy, but not overly so. The prices are appropriate for this type of place - $5 wing baskets on Friday, yeah! Although the wings themselves are sadly just average; both bone-in and boneless did not have any crispiness to them, were literally bite-sized, and the sauces pretty much all got the job done, but did not have anything stand-out about them (with exception of the D.O.A, of course). Perhaps it's because I came for the challenge, but we did have fantastic service throughout the meal; several servers came up at different points and asked how our party was doing, and the cheap beer kept a-flowing with no interruption. They did have several new wait staff (the rules kept changing on me during the challenge as more experienced servers kept filling in the restrictions) but overall everyone was very upbeat, kept a friendly banter going on with our table, and made it a fun night out. We're all not in college anymore, so it's not a place I would frequent. But it was a cheap and entertaining place to hang out; I think if they put a bit more effort into the overall wing menu (it being the WING university) this place could be a standout for more than just a gimmicky challenge (which I will still beat one day!).

I cannot recommend this restaurant. The music is unpleasantly loud, and while the service was friendly, they got our order wrong on three separate occasions. Then there was the wing sauces... None of the spicy sauces were remotely spicy - the hottest, "extra hot," might merit a medium. The spicy crab was far too salty, the spicy garlic bland, and the spicy ranch overpowering. The non-spicy sauces were sickeningly sweet instead. The beer selection was good, though, as were the chips. Overall, though, I'd suggest looking elsewhere for your wings unless you're desperate.

My husband and I come here every time there is a big UFC fight and used to come every week when we lived in Fairfax. It really is the best place to come and watch the fights with all the TVs, large projectors, and good atmosphere. There are however things that definitely need to be changed and things that annoy us every time we come in. Let's start with the pros though: Like I said, great place for UFC. AMAZING wings-- seriously the best wings in the area, alongside Buffalo Wing Factory. You won't find better wings anywhere else. Lots of space to place games like corn hole, good atmosphere, friendly staff, and good prices. They also have great drink specials and late night food options. The cons: Probably the worst thing is the service. Don't expect a drink refill. If you are wondering where your server is, they are probably at the front counter on their phones or watching TV and don't give an F if you want to give them more business or if their tip is going to suck. I have even had servers walk by and even though we try to get their attention, they keep going and not even give you a passing glance. If the servers took just one second to look up from their phones every now and then and see their customers staring them down for attention, the problem could be solved. The only server we had that was amazing was Kyle (or Kevin, sorry if I get your name wrong). We will only ever ask for him from now on. The other huge problem, besides cleanliness, which could use a little boost, is the rest of the food besides the wings. It's just seriously lacking. If they even made a little bit of an effort, it would go far. The quesidillas are dry and flavorless; the chicken dip is watery and you have to use a chainsaw to get through the cheese they throw on top, etc. They need to go over to Wing Factory to get some basic cooking tips. Overall, we love this place and are loyal fans, but I wish we could be better treated for this loyalty, especially considering how often we come all the way from Alexandria. If they hired servers with actually experience who cared about their jobs or revamped their food quality, they might not need their servers asking our table to write reviews on Yelp because they are getting slammed with bad reviews (yes, this happened). Good luck, Wing University!

Me and my buddies would come here from time to time for the Wed night all you can eat wings. It usually ended up costing 20-25$ per person! Just for a softdrink endless fries and wings. But in order to make it worth it you need to eat at least 5-7 baskets depending on how many they dump in each basket. But most people I'm assuming cannot accomplish this unless they are TRULY hungry. The service is so horrible it's not truly worth it to eat there. It takes waiters 20-30 minutes until they come back to the table to check on you.----so I recommend each time the waiter drops off an order you immediately reorder another batch to speed up the ridiculous wait. They have a pretty big bar area and deals so if your in the 20-30 age range it'll be a good stop for you

First off, you need to take this place for what it is. It is a bar that largely caters to the student population at George Mason University. That means, it's got killer specials on wings and domestic beers. 60-cent wing night on Tuesdays, and $1 domestic bottles on Tuesdays and Thursdays are worth pointing out. The downside is that in order to get these low prices, you usually need to put up with a crowd of rowdy 21-22 year old college students, and DJs who tend to play a pretty loud and obnoxious music selection. Service is so-so; tends to be a little slow, but the servers are friendly and good to their regulars. As far as the food goes; it's pretty standard bar fare. The wings are decent; about on par with Buffalo Wild Wings. Their burgers are pretty good, too. My friend also said he enjoyed his chicken salad there, even though it was too small. They also have a fairly decent selection of craft beer, which is good for beer snobs like myself. Though the good beer is generally excluded from the drink specials, which is par for the course in Fairfax.

This place definitely screams college. The first time I came here was with a few friends of mine to take advantage of their all-you-can-eat wing special for $18.99. The moment I walked in, the guy asked for my ID and gave me a wrist band.... Yes sir, I am over 21 (I'm actually 26), that alone just made me so out of place here. My biggest complaint here is how they have organized their wing sauces on their menu. With over 15+ wing sauces to choose from, you would think that they would put the sauces in order from mild- spicy hot to help you determine which ones are best for you. But no, it's just all randomly shattered all over the place with no order or reason. And I can appreciate it being a college hang out type of bar (it wasn't too long ago when I was in college), but this place is a dump. Service is bit on the slow side since they are mostly college students working here. The place is also kind of a mess inside, more like a dive bar. Nothing is too specular; everything is pretty cheap from their wings to their drink specials. Their menus are sticky... it's just too gross for me. I wouldn't come back here, mainly because I am too old for this type of environment now I guess...

This is as advertised. It is a college town sports bar. This is not a place where you get a lobster tail and side of broccoli for $90. If you get the wings (I recommend the honey barbeque sauce) and the curly fries and the fried Oreos and alcohol, it is a top notch sports bar experience. The service will vary with the server, just like at any other restaurant in the world. Went tonight and had fantastic service from our waiter. I wish we lived closer, so I could go here more often and eat 20 servings of fried Oreos and die a gluttonous, clogged-artery death.

BWU has some of my favorite buffalo wings in the area, I always get them with ranch dressing (love their ranch!) & a side of their potato chips. Their wings are on the smaller side (less fatty) but always cooked well. I'm not a college kid or a drinker so I'm not a fan of dining in at BWU so I just get the food to go.

Great Bartenders. A ton of HDTVs to watch March Madness or other sporting events. Chicken wings are meaty and plenty of sauces to choose from. Live entertainment through out the week. I prefer dollar beer nte on Thursdays, then the DJ sets up in the back and it turns into a nite club. Younger crowd but always a great time. See you at BDUBZ

This is the place to go on Thursdays for young adults and college kids(college town type bar). Mainly because of their $1 beer night that goes on Tuesday and Thursday. Food is pretty good too, not the typical bland bar food. Thursday's when I go it's PACKED. I don't expect fast service with all these people but the bartenders do a great job in my opinion to make sure everyone is taken care of. Might take a few minutes but not forever. Bathrooms are pretty nasty sometimes. I blame the poor edict of young adults, worsened with when drunk. There could be someone that goes in there periodically to clean up in there. But overall I do enjoy coming here! Great happy hour specials and good bartenders.

Ohh B-Dubs (if you went to GMU, this is what we called it). I used to come here a lot back in the day. The best was going Thursdays. We'd do the B-Dubs then Auld combo. I mean for cheap wings, cheap shots, and $1.00 bottles, it was best way to spend $10 on a Thursday night at college. I have many fond memories here...but now when I go, I just feel old. I'm a little wiser and trying to stay on the classy side. It's not a dive bar, but it's close. Service is ok, much slower on their busy nights which is understandable. However, you would think they would learn and just have more servers work those nights. But you get what you pay for at B-Dubs.

Came here tonight. Ordered from the bartender because no waitress came to our table in 1 hour& was hungry. My friend got her wings& fries I didn't get mine. One hour after ordering the bartender motioned for me to come there. She gave me my wings and told me she had told me to come to the bar to pick mine up... even though I was at a restaurant? I told her I didn't hear her and had asked for boneless (the ones she made me get up to get after one hour had bones). She said well I didn't hear you say boneless so now we are even. Went to another restaurant.

Close to a dive bar. The wings are good and have lots of different sauces and they are 5 for $3 on a Tuesday. Everything is pretty cheap just like any college bar. The bombs are $3 also but pretty regular. Nothing spectacular and service is on the slow side. Just make sure to get a booth! The chairs at the tables are super uncomfortable.

  • Tanner S.

To be frank, BWU is not the cleanest, most patron friendly sports bar in the area by any stretch of the imagination. The service, at times, can be laughable; and the cleanliness is sub par, especially compared to Hard Times Cafe, the Green Turtle or even Red Hot and Blue (all sports bars in the same vicinity). However, on Wed & Thurs nights, the wing and drink specials are unbeatable for the Fairfax area. And the wings themselves aren't bad at all -- the sauce selection is actually quite nice and diverse - far more so than any other wing joint in the Fairfax area. I've occasionally visited BWU on Wed & Thurs nights to watch a game and eat cheap wings. But you wouldn't find me there any other night of the week.

I was expecting a much better experience. We went on a Friday night around 10, thinking that there would be a good crowd seeing as we were so close to George Mason University. By 11 when we left, there were maybe three other customers in the place. Prices were great, very inexpensive. They had corn hole and beer pong too in the back. We had fun playing and watching some sports on their many TVs but it was so empty we felt a little uncomfortable. Probably wouldn't go again.

I ended up visiting BWU as a first date, as selected by the girl I was meeting. Luckily I perused the yelp-reviews ahead of time, and so made sure to sit at the bar to avoid this atrocious service that seems to be the universal negative experience. My bartender was very pleasant and provided service as fast as could be expected across such a long bar. I do not have any complaints of the service that I experienced, and attribute that you to wonderful yelpers. I ended up being there on a Wednesday night, where there are no drink specials (what?) and there's all-you-can eat wings for $16. Now, I personally can consume a lot of wings, and so that's not a terrible deal for me, but for most people that will not end up being a very good value. What was a great deal was the $3 premiere bottle-grab, as I had some incredible bottles (including the 11.75% Harpoon Leviathan) at a very reasonable rate. As for the wings themselves, they were okay. I tried four of the sauces, and would rate them as such (best to worst): Spicy Honey Mustard (legitimately very tasty), Spicy Crab, Spicy Ranch, Honey Mustard. The wings were rather small, for a wing-place, and their crunch seemed wildly inconsistent. Over all, it wasn't a bad place to get some wings, but it didn't do anything to wow me.

My family and I (typically a party of 11) used to visit BWU every Friday. I can say that tonight is the last time I visit this establishment. The service was awful, the wings couldn't have been smaller ($1.05 p/u) and the tables and silverware were dirty. To top things off, I ordered the endless deal, and my basket of wings came out 15 mins prior to everyone else's food. My kids (11, 9 & 4) took a wing from my basket, since they were hungry and their food wasn't ready, and as soon as they took the bite the server scolds at me and tells me that next time they did that they would charge me $17.99 per child. Unbelievable! They're kids and were hungry! I was scared to even give my obviously hungry toddler a fry for fear of being charged extra. I had ordered food for everyone at the table, so I don't understand what the big deal was. Not courteous, very rude and not worth my time or money. Think twice before making the decision to eat there.

Eaten here many times before. The food is always what I expect, nothing horrible, nothing spectacular. Service changes as I believe they have high turnover. My food took way too long- asked for a manager and he came over (Kevin I believe). This "manager" is a child. He did nothing but make excuses, not once apologize, and got frustrated and walked away before I could finish my sentence. Horrible management. I'm so disgusted. Whose hiring decision was this? He's in no place to be in management let alone customer service.

College bar environment but not super duper cheap college prices, with the exception of their specials. Open and adequate seating. Service has never been outstanding when I've visited. Boneless wings are average to better than average in my opinion. I've tried a couple other appetizers and they were just alright. I'd stick with the wings.

My friends and I ended up choosing Buffalo Wing University over Buffalo Wing Factory for no other reason than that one of my buds said that BWU had hot waitresses who wore jerseys and tight pants. Boom, sold. That, and I've been to BWFs since there was only that one in Sterling, and I've already forced all my old NOVA friends to eat Flatliners and they hate me for it. So we get to BWU, on a Saturday evening, the prime time for college football, and this sports bar is oddly pretty deserted. There were several nationally interesting matchups on this day, but apparently BWU isn't the place where people wanted to watch them. Strange to me, since upon first impression, it seems like a pretty rad sports bar, with lots of seating, generous space, plenty of screens, and even cornhole and a beer pong table in the back. With a place so properly equipped to be a rocking sports, bar food, and drinking establishment, why it was so deserted on a Saturday night was beyond me. Our server ended up being a dude, which was a disappointment, but looking around, it didn't look like there were any hot waitresses anywhere. Bummer. But it's fine as long as the service is still good. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Our server was off in la-la land, let my cup go empty, put the wrong table down on the order, didn't actually serve the food to us himself, and had to be requested in order to bring us our check. At least if she was a hot waitress, there'd still have been something in it for me, but instead I get a bro with his CW network haircut who isn't good at his job. Food was average. No better than what could've been gotten at a BWF, or any other sports bar. Wings and fries. Bar food. Location is convenient, and easy to get to with lots of free parking in a Safeway shopping center. Cost was average, and I ended up paying more than I should have because my a-hole friend stiffed the crappy waiter and I think I made up for the difference inadvertently. Conclusion, I wouldn't go back. Even in NOVA, the land of franchise restaurants, there's lots of better options than this place.

The staff is friendly enough and the sauces aren't bad (lots of butter though); my problem is how pricey this place is... Especially for a sports bar right next to a university! The Wednesday all-you-can-eat wings special is just not worth the $18 (unless you can eat 20 wings in one sitting!). And they don't even let you take a doggie bag home. What a waste of food.

    (2)
  • Shannon A.

Its a wing place that caters to local GMU. What do you expect? Don't be like George N. and order a burger....why?!?! Anyways, I went in there for wings and 1 dollar (!!) bottle beers. I'm sorry, but if you have a problem with that, you really need to lighten up and just spend all your time eating at The Palm. Yes, the service can be sketchy. But they are all kids working there, so give them a break.

If you are looking for a place to go, experience some world class, no don't wanna give 'em that kind of credit, ASS CLASS Douche bags, mediocre(being generous here)at best service by girls that need to act like they have no dignity, shitty wings, and a cramped college environment, then THIS is your 5 star spot! For me, not so much. I will go out of my way to avoid this place. I don't normally "hate" on places, and I won't start now, but this place has very few redeeming qualities, like curly fries and really good Ranch Dressing, and that is about it. Food= Wings. And not even all that good, super small. OK, I just thought of another "redeeming" quality, they do a Crispy Chicken Bacon Sam'ich type of thing and it is good. The pizza we got was under cooked and doughy. Service= It's a majority college kids it seems, and if you are not one of their friends/frat bos/sor sis, you seem to fade into the distance as you shrivel up, and wither away while waiting for a beverage, or refill. Generally slow, and selective. Ambiance = Sports bar. That's it. OH, and a shit ton of country music, nickleback, and creed. Lord kill me now. Beverage= Actually, Beer selection is fair, and it's cold. Ok, so one more redeeming quality, but honestly, it's cold beer at a bar. . .duh, it's a given(hopefully). Price= For what you get, there is certainly better to be had. I know it draws a crowd for $1 bottle night on Thursdays, so if you go on a Thursday the price is good, but due to the howevermanycollegekids there, it would take 6 hours to consume a 6 pack. Wings are over priced considering the small size of the wings given. If this is truly a Wing University, I would drop out. Overall= Maybe I am getting old, maybe I am getting cynical, maybe I just don't like that kinda crowd. . .what I do know: I won't go out to purposefully go there, I will see what other resources are available first, and if worse REALLY comes to worse, and I don't feel like gnawing my own arm off, I may just swing by. . .or see what 7-11 has instead.

This is my new favorite spot!! This staff (Renni Lamar and Victoria) are all very friendly. They have a ton of different wing flavors an the beer is very reasonably priced. It is a great place to meet people on Tuesdays and Thursdays, all in all I will be frequenting "BDubs" very often in the future!

I love this place. It's cheap, their boneless wings are tasty, loaded fries is yummy. It's a no bullshit kind of place. There is nothing fancy about it. You go there for friends, wings and beer. That's it. I had their quesadilla and it was bleh, but again my dumb fault. who goes to a place called Buffalo wing university to eat quesadillas? Nobody! Oh they have a great beer selection, most of them are pretty cheap. I love the fact that I can have great wings on the a dive-y place without having to drink bud or coors. I always sit at the bar, the service is always better there.

I will come back and update my review!!

Wow... I must say the wings are good not great but good. Wednesday night is the night to hit this place up as they have a great special for 15 you get all you eat wings, fries and a drink. Only problem is the service and the fact that you can hear the crazies playing corn hole the entire time you're eating?! Plus every 10 min some table for of teens wants to order the hottest wing on the menu and eat as many as they can for a discount. This can get a bit much but its expected at a college joint.

Possibly the worst wings I have ever tasted. They were not crispy enough and barely sauced. I ordered spicy honey mustard and you can barely taste any flavor. We also ordered the curly fries which was pretty good but the portion was small. They get 1 star for have $1 bottle on the Tuesday night we went though.

Blah! Just straight up gross in the evenings.....if you want a lunch time buzz....fine. But beware...................you have been warned. Beer is OK, food not so much. Now for the evening crowd, this is the most pitiful group of wannabes that I have ever seen. wall-to-wall slim shadies, throw in a couple dr. dres and all the hoes you ever wanted to see mingling in a loud and rude manner. They fight each other....they should all just punch themselves in the head. TOO bad this is right next door to ABC. I could go on and on.....but every now and then I find myself wondering into this place....damn friends have no taste. But I like being a DD, so...talking to drunk chicks that have no idea about anything when sober is fun....kinda hard to do, but rewarding...

Went here for a Friday afterwork happy hour. The place was practically empty, so the service was great. It's hard to be a buffalo wing snob at a place like this. I mean, you really should know what you're getting into when you go to chains. They clearly fry the wings, and then just douce it in one of 20 sauces of your choosing. So, the sauce flavors aren't cooked into the wings, nor does the frying batter necessarily compliment any particular sauce. But at least they have a pretty good happy hour special, and you get what you expect. Can't ask for much more, really.

I'll put this as concisely as possible. This place has great food and is a fun place to hang out, but the service is absolutely attrocious, possibly the worst I've seen in Fairfax. I won't put this one on the bartenders, they rock, but the servers are the worst you'll be able to find in the city. How these people keep their jobs is beyond me, they are rude, they are slow, and they have purposely forgotten things when I've been there on several occasions. I have heard, unconfirmed, that the waiting staff gets rotated very often because of how bad they suck. This is obviously a failing on management as it is the higher ups who are the authority on hiring actions, they keep hiring horrible staff. I went here on my birthday, made a comment about a certain type of wing sauce sucking and the waiter "forgot" my order every single time he came back. I was in a party of 8 people and I was the only one who wasn't getting what I would order. I asked several times for simple things like napkins and water before I had to go to the manager to complain. Surprise surprise, I was sick for the next two weeks after that night. Although I can only speculate on what happened to my food it was obvious the waiter did not like me speaking to his manager and attempted to get revenge. If you don't know the servers here, treat them like royalty or you will get yours. I imagine the kitchen is reminiscent of the movie 'Waiting'.

The wings are, like other reviews say, average. Only reason I go is for the Thursday night happy hour, but it can be very loud, crowded and hot. If you go on a Thursday night and pay by credit or debit, make sure you keep your receipt. They charged me $30 when I wrote down $10, so I brought my receipt back and they game me $20 cash. Of course, keeping your receipts is a good practice in general, but pay extra care here.

Three stars for the memories this place holds. Circa 2006, BWU (affectionately called B-dubbs) was the hottest spot in the GMU area. Now that I am a college graduate, I wonder why I ever frequented this place at all. A fight breaks out everytime I go here. The wings are soaked in a puddle of oil. Wings are small and limp - - no crisp at all. All of their other food is gross. The service is terrible. I have a hard time lifting my feet off the sticky bar floor. This whole place is gross and I am pretty sure they are the reason I got pneumonia shortly after the final four. G-M-U-WHAT!

This establishment is a very average restaurant. The name "Buffalo Wing University" connotes that this is the school for wings, where cooking these tiny bits of meat is somewhat of an education. The name doesn't work. Their wings are average at best, and this is after sampling the vast majority of their wings on their menu. Service has repeatedly been very slow, and rarely worth the wait. If I was a GMU student I might be able to justify coming here due to location and drink specials, however I'm not. Wednesday nights are all you can eat wings & fries for $15, which isn't a bad deal if you're ready sit for a three-hour finger licking ordeal. Thursday happy hour is good for drink specials, however other than that I see no reason to ever visit this place-there are more than a handful of other sports bars and wing joints within the Fairfax area with significantly better wings, and other options on their menus as a whole.
