The food was great. Not a problem with the service either. They honored my groupon with pleasure, and the sushi was terrific!!

This review is based off of one meal. I purchased teriyaki chicken and it wasn't what I was expecting I guess. They charged me the normal portion but I believe they gave me a lunch portion. The taste of the chicken wasn't up to par from other places I've had teriyaki chicken. I haven't tried anything else but I didn't like their sauce nor the consistency of the chicken. It had a lot of fat/tendons. Won't be trying that again if I ever do come back

First time customer. Delicious and fresh sushi! Ordered for take out and the staff were very attentive while we waited. Looking forward to trying their Thai dishes and dining in.

We came here because our favorite sushi place had a wait, and wanted to try something new. We ordered 2 yellow tail sashimi rolls, a Philly roll and a king spider crab roll with green tea. The sashimi was very questionable and flavorless... The Philly was ok... Salmon had a nice smoked flavor but the rice was overcooked... The king spider was just ok... None of it was anything to write home about. Even the green tea tasted burnt... Way over stepped. I would not recommend eating sushi here... But the other dishes could be ok, and the service was fine.

Came for a catch up dinner with a friend. The place is mediocre it's as if you have a craving for Asian food so you come here for the variety. Is it amazing? No.... Is it something that makes you want more... No not so much. Our server was okay he didn't seem to knowledgeable but he was accommodating. We asked him what cocktails were good but since he doesn't drink he didn't know. Food wise he couldn't really recommend any certain dishes either. Originally I ordered the salmon and mango roll but they ran out of mango so I ordered the Crazy Tuna instead. Like most sushi rolls it was just average flavor wise nothing too "crazy". Basically a spicy tuna roll with some crunchies and topped with tuna. The tuna on top was fresh nice a dark pink. To sum it up the roll it was just an upscale spicy tuna roll. My friend order the pad see ew with extra chicken. It was okay she thought it was a bit salty tho. I tried a taste and wasn't wow'd. For dessert we decided on the Thai coconut ice cream to share. It tasted like shaved ice not ice cream it wasn't bad but it probably shouldn't be called ice cream. but none the less it was good. Overall for the price that we paid I think we probably could've gotten more bang for our buck. We actually reached $50 but my friend had $20 coupon for up to $50.So it brought it down to $33. This is for soup, an entree, a sushi roll and 4 glasses of wine (2 glasses each). Asian bistro was just average to me nothing amazing I think if you just crave random food this is your place.

MMWOW #3 - "Bistro" is just a fancy, au vant guard way of saying restaurant. If you look up the definition of "mediocrity" in the dictionary, you may find a picture of Asian Bistro. This place is typical of places that try to do a little bit of everything, but don't do anything really well. Asian Bistro, nestled in a corridor near the several or more restaurants in the Fairfax Old Town Plaza building that includes Wine House Bistro and Bollywood Bistro (a panoply of bistros), leaves much to be desired. It can be avoided and your life will miss nothing. Normally, my best girl and I avoid fusion. Fusion, to me, means you can't make it great, so just throw everything at the wall and hope something sticks... But, my girl does love those Groupons. So...in the spirit of trying new things, we ventured over to this place on a Sunday after working up some hunger shopping at the Super H Mart... Outside the window, my eyes looked longingly over to Bollywood Bistro...good, solid Indian.... and then I made my way to the buffet... Slightly under-average summer rolls, a pan of 1/2 steamed rice, 1/2 fried rice - both overly dry (and they had just opened 20 minutes before), drunken noodles and panang chicken - both of which seemed like they were out of the can or derived from a Campbells Gourmet skillet packet - some browned Chinese mushrooms, a small salad selection with bad tasting tomatoes, and - to the side - a sushi selection of fake crab stick, and cucumber maki. After shoveling down what we could rummage off the buffet to try and make it worthwhile, I order the Thai coconut ice cream off the menu. It was fine. But then so is the frozen dessert section at H-Mart. The staff was nice, though not very attentive. By the time we left, we were 1 of 4 or 5 tables, not an Asian among us save for my best girl. I am giving it 2 stars because it wasn't horrible, but this place seems destined to fail unless something changes...

Ate there for the first time this evening, was below average and not recommended. Had the Tom Yum soup to start - good broth and okay average white mushrooms, lots of big pieces of chicken several inches wide square, and large amount of diced celery, not the expected mix of ingredients or cut well for soup, tasted okay but not typical Asian mushrooms or veggies. Had the Crazy Tuna roll as main entree, looked good in presentation, but the fish was dry and didn't taste good, first time in ages that I didn't finish a roll of sushi or have any desire to order other sushi items as follow up. I scrapped some of the toppings off, ate one piece of fish from the roll, and didn't even want to eat the rest of the fish from the roll, not good. Had the mango sticky rice for desert - that was tasty and fun, a bit pricey, was the only thing that hadn't seen recently at other restaurants that was good here. My friend had the pork with vermicelli noodles and enjoyed that, ate it all. I thought the choice of veggies and quality of sushi was a bad sign of the corners cut here on ingredients and preparation. The service was friendly and very good about timing and refilling water etc, but the food was not that good.

Love this place! Have been there so many times since the Fairfax location opened. Love all of the sushi, especially the New Mexican roll. Can't get enough of their Mango with Sticky Rice for dessert, even learned how to make it myself. Asian Bistro delivers within a reasonable distance of the restaurant. I love this place and will continue going as often as possible. Never had a bad meal here, and there service is impeccable, even when they are super crowded. Highly recommend giving Asian Bistro a try!

Enjoyed my first visit. A large group from work met at the square and chose lunch from various places. I was surprised to see carry out of the Buffet. Enjoyed all the items I chose. Outdoor seating, good company, and $7 per lb. for a mix of different dishes. The staff was awesome and helpful! I'll be back!

Good restaurant with a few fairly unique dishes like the crispy fish. Flavors are quite good. But i would probably skip the ramen/udon noodles. My other complaint is that the size of the dinner entrees could be a bit bigger. If you go with 2 adults, you probably need to order 3 dishes to feel full.

I work in Old Town Fairfax and I'm always looking for a sit down lunch that's fast, but not fast food. The quality of the food was excellent, the service was fantastic and quick and the buffet was everything I wanted it to be. The price was right too! I will be recommending this place to all my coworkers.

We order from here very often. Every time we have sushi or noodles craving, we get food from here, and honestly, it never disappointed us. The sushi is excellent. The house salad is so fresh and the dressing is to die for. We try to get a new dish every once in a while and our past was Moo Shu Chicken (I hope I got the name right) and it was SO friggin good... Too bad the BF ate all the leftover by himself! Traitor!

My oh my. Barely a 3....Based on the food alone, it'd easily be a 4....However the service was absolutely terrible. We went on a saturday night around 6:30PM and it wasn't too crowded. First the waiter forgot my girlfriends wine she had ordered, he forgot a piece of nigiri we ordered, and the rolls came out literally 15-20 minutes apart...They had one sushi chef and 2 waiters...I heard the manager say they were short staff and it really showed. We ordered: Crab wontons-a little too much cream cheese for my liking but overall still decent chicken satay - no complaints. Very good marinade and peanut sauce then things went bad. For rolls we got: spicy tuna- very good, on the spicy side which I lenjoy. New Mexican Roll - Absolutely phenomenal. I loved it. Very spicy, the avacado provided a nice balance. Not over powered with the jalapeno. Lemon roll- Girlfriend loved it, I wasn't too big of a fan. too much lemon for me. Kamikaze roll- Very good but not too memorable. These 4 rolls came out first. about 40 minutes after the appetizer. Then later the Wasabi Tempura Roll roll came out. It was decent, but had a little bit too much of the wasabi mayo. There was a glob on top that looked like an after thought and I think it over powered the roll a little too much. The nigiri never came and we decided to leave. After double checking the check it wasn't on there, however the wine she never got was so the waiter took it off the bill. Overall the food was good, but the service was definitely bad...Not sure if someone called out sick or they just need to hire a few more people, but they could benefit greatly from a few more bodies.

Bought a Groupon to try a new place. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant was very quiet. I would say the food was ok. Not amazing. I appreciated the variety in the menu, however. Not sure I'll be back but never say never.

My wife and I visited this place several times before and after the third time we had made up our minds, this is the best sushi place in Fairfax. Try their spicy dragon roll make sure you ask for it on the menu there's two of them it's the one that's pricier. Their lunch buffet was decent but if you're really going to go there just go for the sushi anything you order you will not be disappointed. I would highly recommend this place and recommend friends to it when they visit us.

  • Nicole C.

Delivery order took more than an hour from Grub Hub. The pho (beef) and sushi (rainbow) were good, but we ordered extra rice with our beef and broccoli and it was not included. Also the beef was more like a stew/soup with very little beef.

I love Asian food and was so glad to see they had curry (was craving it) I wasn't sure if itd be good or not and wanted to go across to bollywood bistro but was very satisfied! The curry was very rich and delicious, im not good with spicy so that panaeng curry was perfect and a good portion size for dinner. I recommend the curry dishes, and the drunken noodle which I tried off of a friend's plate. The monkey roll and calamari was also delicious and didn't disappoint! Very yummy and flavorful. The server was new but still helped us out as much as he could and tried to help us with our order which was very nice and polite! We didn't make reservations but it wasn't that busy. Great overall experience.

  • R R.

My son and I have had dinner here twice. The food is exceptional--fresh ingredients and very tasty. Beware, if you order "Thai Spicy" it will be hot....much hotter than expected. This is one of the only restaurants where we don't have to add more heat. I recommend the drunken noodles or kung pao. Spring rolls and summer rolls are good. My son said he'd order the calamari again but I thought the portion was rather small....I'll stick to the rolls! I noted some poor service reviews. Our experience -- it isn't super fast but adequate. The food definitely makes up for it. We'll be back within 3-4 weeks.

Can be biased on this one, since my friend is the manager. But because of that, I can see him legitimately working really hard to help serve people well. Maybe that's because I was creeping on him while doing that.. maybe not. LOL! Anyways, the volcano roll is really good, same with the deal for the lunch buffet. Bang for your buck!

  • Oscar D.

This place is OK, probably wouldn't go out of my way to go back. it really has no "identity." There were some Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes on the menu. Didn't look like they specialized in any one thing. Prices were good, but I wasn't overwhelmed. Free parking garage just a few steps away.

Service - 3 Food - 2.5 Ambiance - 2 This is a nice cheap and fast bite to eat type of place. Nothing is superb or even average. They have lunch buffet which consists of fill me up items, which is decent enough to get to return there on my hungry days. However, the quality of the food is bit below average. As for the sushi, I have only gotten rolls here. It is bit better if not similar to supermarket quality rolls. I don't like how they put fried batter or bread crumb in their spicy tuna roll. I understand that they are doing this to give some texture to the roll but it is not what I would expect from a spicy tuna roll. Service is average and ambiance is just an average cheap eat-in place.

Took 10 minutes to get 3 sodas -- even people seated after us got their drinks quicker. The chicken on my asian bistro chicken salad was overcooked. The dressing I ordered came out wrong (wanted sweet and sour, not chili lime). Service was really, really slow.

I love this place. Busy and bustling with locals who know the place to go for lunch. Efficient and friendly service. Clean tables, glasses and utensils. We had the lunch buffet for $8.95. The buffet line was very clean and had a nice variety of dishes, hot and cold, including Sushi. Cold food was covered with clear wrap and the serving spoons and tongs were clean and in good condition. There are outdoor tables and umbrellas. Really quite nice.

Food was great. ESPECIALLY the dragon roll. Thinking about it makes me drool. Service was awesome as well. When our main server was busy, the manager came out to make sure we were taken care of. This place MADE my girlfriends and my 2 year anniversary exceptionally great! Will be coming back just because it's on my way home from work!

Huh. I'm totally not sure what was going on when we went this past Sunday night. We had been here a couple of times before and both times were great. This time...eeek. So the place wasn't busy at all, maybe one large party. We got our appetizers pretty fast, but then we were sitting for about a half hour waiting for our food when our waiter came out to tell us someone else got my short ribs and how sorry he was and could he get us another appetizer (we already had had two of them). Of course, stuff happens and it probably wasn't his fault, but we didn't really want another appetizer. I asked him if I should just order something else, because it takes longer apparently to do the short ribs. He assured me, no, no....that they would be out soon. And went on to say how cool we were with the wait and everything. Which we were. After all, we're not really sure who's fault it was and it seems mean to take it out on him. BUT....so I finally got the entree, after waiting a full hour for it, and it was ok. Not anything to write home about. My husband got the curry laksa, (as usual, haha) and it was still hot, thankfully, and he enjoyed....here comes the BUT....we got the bill and everything was FULL PRICE!!!! So what happened to offering the appetizer or whatever? At least comp an app that we ordered, or my ribs, since we sat there for a whole hour waiting for our meals??? Or a discount for the mess up??? Bleh! Plus...not that this was a big deal...but they had a new server or were training someone and she kept going from wrong table to wrong table with food (maybe that's what happened to my ribs)..but hello? AWKWARD...and not good training?? We felt badly having to keep telling her she was at the wrong table...and she clearly felt embarrassed that she didn't know where she was supposed to go. I don't know....having done my share of food service and customer service...I think it's kind of...ok really bad customer service, when a restaurant clearly has a screw up, to not even offer any recompense like a free appetizer or anything, when you make people wait kind of a ridiculous amount of time for their food. I don't know if I want to go back there now....it's not incredibly close to us, and there are good places around here for the various types of cuisine they offer there. We just had such good experiences the first two times that we enjoyed going...but now...ehhh...I just don't feel comfortable recommending them on here. Customer service is just too important.

The service is horrible. Don't waste your time. Seriously the service was horrible. Had to wait to get our food for over 30 minutes.

Screwed up one roll in our sushi order. To correct THEIR mistake, they asked to TAKE the roll back off the main dish, forcing us to pull off all the other rolls and put them onto other small plates scattered on the table. Then, they unmade the original roll to correct the mistake. Of course the remade rolls took another 10 min and fell apart while trying to eat them. Unbelievably terrible customer service. Other reviews to this point are spot on.

Had intentions of going to Bollywood Bistro, Panera or Potbelly for lunch in this little plaza in Fairfax, but we'd never tried Asian Bistro and the sign about a lunch buffet for under $10 brought us on in. I'm glad we stopped by! The service was impeccable. I don't think I've ever had a nicer or more attentive server. The buffet is not large, but the food was of great quality, more so than typically what you think of for a buffet. This is not a large hot bar with the glass over top of a bunch of open pots of food. This is a smaller set of tables with pristine stainless steel containers you lift the lid on to get to the food. We were able to get: Salad, gyoza, spring rolls (some of the best I've ever had), rices, soups, several different chicken dishes, great veggie lo mein and perfectly cooked beans. Also, they have some limited sushi selections (California rolls and one other type) for the buffet customers -- not amazing sashimi or anything, but hey, it's all-you-can-eat, and I love pretty much any kind of sushi! The only dig here I guess is I would've liked to have seen a little more variety and creativity in the dishes to select from, and maybe a tuna rolls or salmon roll somewhere in the sushi selection. Will certainly return!

My family came here on a Friday night and we didn't have to wait to be seated. The service was okay and we tried their ramen. I should've known better not to order ramen at a place like this but I couldn't help. It was cold outside and nothing would be better than a nice hot bowl of ramen. The ramen was ok, nothing memorable. The portion was small, it came with the standard seaweeds, bambo shoots, scallions, and pork belly. I definitely wouldn't come back here for ramen, but next time I will try the other items that are on their menu.

Don't waste your time here, go to the one in old town Alexandria. I am a big fan of the Asian bistro in old town. Last Sunday I convinced 6 of my friends to try Asian bistro, but the other location opens at 4pm on Sundays. With that said we drove 35 mins to the fairfax location. It's 2pm on a Sunday. There was only 1 table of customers. The guy sits us down, and 5 mins later we have to ask for menus. We order our drinks and then he proceeds to tell us that the sushi chef is going on break/leaving and we can't order sushi until around 4. Of course our party of 7 left. We waited 2 hours and went to the old town location, which never lets me down. FYI: Try the New Mexican roll. You will want to thank me later.

Solid sushi and love their weekend buffet. Did carry out once and the quality doesnt convey. Good service. Good ambience.

I've only been here twice and both experiences were good. The exterior and name are totally misleading when you walk inside; it's much nicer and more upscale. We came here for lunch both times. The food is tasty, I'd want to go back for their buffet and happy hour.

I've been here about a dozen times over the past year for the weekday lunch buffet and have never been disappointed. They have a good selection of dishes and keep them well stocked. My only complaint about the food is that the General Tso's chicken (all large chunks of actual breast meat) always seems to be dry inside. Not really a big problem, though, since there are plenty of other choices that are great. Staff is friendly and service has always been good, with drinks refilled and used dishes removed promptly. With the buffet priced at less than $10 (in Fairfax!!), it's a great bargain, too. Don't really understand why it never seems to be full at lunch, but it does have some tough competition from the Bollywood Bistro being only about 50 feet away, which offers possibly the best Indian lunch buffet I've eaten at. Just writing this review and remembering my last meal there is making me hungry. I'll probably be back tomorrow.

Food: B- (Food was too mild, not much taste) Service: A (The staff are very attentive, polite) Ambeince: B+ Next time I'll try their daily buffet (open till 2pm) which seems like a good deal at $8.95.

Came here for lunch with my mom and we were one of three tables of customers. We skipped the lunch buffet that was being offered and ordered from the menu instead. The spring rolls were amazing. We also ordered the orange chicken and sesame chicken, great flavor and seasonings. The waiter was so friendly and assured us what foods did or did not have shell fish or were cooked in the same oils (since I'm highly allergic). As usual I only tried this place because I had a groupon but I hope to go back.

Lemon Roll and Fried wasabi roll! Came in on a Friday before a concert at the Patriot Center - one sushi chef so get your order in fast before the crowd shows up! Regardless of the wait, both rolls, my ramen and our appetizer were great. Plus good wine - definitely recommend this place but do go if you're in a rush.

I normally am not a huge fan of "fusion" cuisine, since everything usually tastes like a blend of sweet and salty. Asian Bistro just edges out that stereotype with good fare. Keeping in mind if you went to an "authentic" restaurant, the prices would be much cheaper than Asian Bistro, it offers a nice decor and car-friendly location in the heart of fairfax city. I got the chilean sea bass, a usual Hong-Kong style dish, but Asian Bistro upped the ante by deep frying the sea bass first. For the record, nothing deep fried is bad, but traditionalists would probably be saddened by the lack of sea bass skin. Overall, knowing that most of the food is "americanized" and taking it as a nice place to eat, I'd probably go back again if I was in the neighborhood. Recently, I've seen restaurant.com certificates for the place, so I will probably go back.

Spouse and I went there a couple Saturdays ago around 5:30. Chose to sit outside since the weather was great. Right away, I could tell they were understaffed. The guy who seated us also took our drink order to help out but it was going to be a tough night. They had the guy hosting and one waiter. Now it was only 5:30 but it was still busy enough that I could tell they were both in panic mode. With that said, and keeping in mind it was not their fault they were short staffed (management or whomever banged in sick that day), they did the best they could. Our waiter, Ian, was working his tail off. Anyway, the food was great. I had the sesame chicken and spouse had something that he enjoyed as well (I was busy devouring my sesame chicken). All in all, I would go here again.

My wife loves Asian Bistro's sushi, sashimi, etc. The cooks are good here, creating unique specialties. The decor is romantic, so it's perfect for dining out. The lunch buffet here is decent. On the day I went for the buffet, Kung Pao chicken, coconut noodles, pad thai, and rice dessert were all served, along with a few standard items. That's really not bad for $8-9 (I forget how much exactly). Nice little place. Make sure you park in the garage when you go (it's free).

Best Asian fusion! ! We have been eating here for few years and gadget loved it every time. The only place where we never have " to go box".

I have been here twice and for dine in and take out. Both meals were excellent. My dine in meal was sushi and my take out was spicy tai basil with chicken. The sushi for the dine in was crispy salmon spicy tuna and spicy yellow tail. The 4/5 goes to the dine in experience was they were not that busy and although very attentive filling drinks getting the sushi was a little on the slow side, as slow as it was I would of expected it to all come out together. That being said I would still dine here or get take out.

  • Desiree D.

Our first visit here wasn't the great because one of the dishes we ordered was very unappetizing. However, the server did offer to bring us another that was much better. The portion sizes overall are small. By the name of this place you would expect it to compare to P.F. Chang's but sadly it does not come close. I have been back at least twice and the service is almost consistently bad. One time it took 45 minutes to get our sushi order and we when did it was poorly made and haphazardly presented. We even tried take-out once thinking maybe they were better at that, but no... I keep going back wanting to like this place since it's so close to home, but I am about done wasting my money here.

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant. I've been here at least 7 times. It's in a very convenient location (at least for me, since I can easily walk here from home) located near the Fairfax library. I have no complaints on the serving size. The serving size is perfect for me. I can finish a plate all by myself, but at the same time I will be completely full from it. I dislike how other restaurants give way too much and I can never finish it. This place is quality over quantity. All their food is delicious. I haven't tried many of their appetizers or soups, just one. I had a coupon for free vegetable gyozas so of course I'd get them. Personally, I wouldn't pay $5 for them but since it was free I can say that they were yummy. Also I love their Hot and Sour soup. I've come in at least 3 times to get it to go. It's pretty filling for my small body and a good after school "snack". For their actual meals, I loved every single one of them that I've tried. Only one of them wasn't satisfying enough and this was the Ginger Perfect. I guess it's because I don't really like ginger. Their udon and pho are really filling even if the bowls may seem small. The broth for both of these are very flavorful and yummy. My all time favorite however is the Spicy Basil Fried Rice. It's so yummy. I don't know... all of their food is just so yummy! I have no complaints for this place. Their sushi is pretty good too. I tried spicy yellow tail before and I really liked how it was made. This place is yummy. All their food is yummy. I will definitely keep coming here whenever I can. Their thai tea is yummy and comes in a pretty cup. Their dessert is yummy. The only way to describe this place is yummy and so cute. Their plates and bowls are cute. The interior of the store is cute. Gah, I love this place. It's a must try!

The interior was as decent as receiving a fruit cake near Christmas and the service was like driving a Toyota Camry -- I was satisfied as I wasn't expecting (nor needing) much of fancy from this place. However, the food was below my expectations. Yes, they were charmingly decorated, but all four of my family agreed that there were not enough substance, uniqueness, or portion. It was comparative to Keira Knightley, one of the overpriced actresses in our era whose acting is as shallow as her chest. On a side note, the servers here evidently cannot differentiate between jasmine tea and green tea, as ours brought us green tea while we ordered jasmine, twice.

Good location. Good service and decent food. We had bistro duck and their seafood special, 2 soups, 1 appy and 3 drinks. The bill was 65 bucks. Including tip, we are talking about 80 bucks. That is expensive for thai food, when the quality is good, but not any better than a 'lunch-time' thai place. The menu has a good selection of items. Go for lunch and get the lunch prices instead :-)

Not bad, not great, just okay. Everything from the decor, food, and service was just okay. I came in for lunch with my dad today (Sunday). We're always up for trying a new restaurant/a restaurant we haven't been to before and decided to give this a try. It was pretty empty so we were seated right away. They had a nice little variety of Asian foods. We had the: Tom Yum Soup, Wonton Soup, Curry Puffs, Dynamite Roll, and In the Jungle "Pad Phed." Everything had great presentation but everything other than the soups had a little bit of a sweet taste to it. Not really a fan of that in my entrees. Oh! Cool thing about the Dynamite Roll - it's baked! Now I can say I've had baked sushi! I'm considering coming back here to try their other sushi rolls and maybe another entree but for now, Asian Bistro gets a "meh" in my book.

Conclusion: Quality of the food was good but not so in love with the quantity. Ordered a drunken noodle and I can count how many pieces of noodle and meat they put on the plate. Price- little bit too pricey. Spent $50, got an appetizer, 1 drunken noodle and 1 roll of tempura sushi. Wish I can do different stars for price, service, quality and quantity.

Loved the food and service. Both really good. It can get little busy on weekends but well worth the wait if you want a good asian food with fresh ingrediants.

Went there for dinner on a Friday night, it was not crowded. The food was okay, I had the short ribs, my partner had the ginger chicken. When I asked the waiter what type of kimchi they had, the response was "normal kimchi". Correct me if I"m wrong, there are a ton of different types of kimchi, normal is relative. Prices were decent, not a great deal. I might go back there again.

thai spicy basil - chicken 4.5* (great flavor, good portion) Shrimp and scallop in thai chili paste 3.5* (I should have eaten this first as the basil in the above dish overpowered this one) nice portion, good sized scallops (frozen though) Golden fried tofu app- 2.5* - massive portion, lacking a good flavor in their sweet/peanut sauce. Helpful friendly staff, nice atmosphere, restr..com deal brought us here.

The wife and I had lunch here today and enjoyed it quite a bit. The food is always good and the staff very accommodating. I had the buffet, which was had a good selection and just as good as the menu items. My wife had the Spring Roll and Crispy Chicken Salad which she really enjoyed.

Very fast service, good decor and pleasant ambiance. But it can't make up for their mediocre food. Not impressed, especially considering it's in a "restaurant hot spot" - Old Town Fairfax. Don't waste your time.

I went there just to try it out with my dad during one late night during the week. The place is very charming inside and very quiet. The menu is very simple and makes the choice pretty easy. We got the Pad Thai (extra spicy) and the Spicy Seafood. The food came out and it was delicious. It has been a while since I've eaten some flavorful dishes. The Pad Thai had a great kick which I miss sometimes. I always ask fro extra spicy in restaurants and then it is as blend as if I didn't ask for some extra spices on it. Asian Bistro is definitely great on spicy dishes. The Spicy Seafood was great with calamari's, scallops, and shrimp. The dishes are pretty big and can be easily shared with everyone on the table. With the 2 dishes leftovers, I had enough food for the next day lunch and dinner! I will without hesitation go back there. It is a great location with easy parking.

This place has AMAZING sushi. Super fresh, well balanced, and a large offering of different rolls to choose from. Its the best sushi I've had in the area, hands down. Another great dish is their Hong Kong style wonton soup with handmade wontons. The broth is light yet full of flavor. They offer many other Asian infused dishes -- noodles, pho, Chinese style cooking, etc --but this place really stands out for their sushi. They also have an awesome beer variety (Tiger, Sapporo, Tsigntao, and other domestic beers) and sake. The service is really friendly and attentive, too.

I checked out this place since I got a voucher at restaurant.com . I have to say we really like this place. Interior design is very noce and modern, service was great, appetizers came out right away (hate when ot takes forever) and the food was very good. Only exception was the Wonton Soup that was not that great. I like the variety of Asian food that other people seem to complain about. Eventhough sort of far for us, we will come back to this place. Haven't tried Sushi and Mango&Sticky rice yet.

If you want to enjoy your dinner in a quite, warm atmosphere, this is definitely THE place. The food is not the most delicious I have ever had but it's very good at a reasonable price. I love the sushi: delicious looking (esp the cherry blossom and flaming dragon) and the fish is fresh. Also, the tofu dishes are just fantastic! 5 star.

Came in for my Uncle's birthday, as a party of 15,we opted for the buffet. Lunch price is $9 each and has some nice choices. Green curry chicken, veggie gyoza, general tso (whitemeat) chicken, etc...service was genuinely nice and friendly. Not one of those super buffets...much better. Ample free parking in the garage next door.

As long as people understand this isn't one Asian country specific restaurant, it's a mixed bag, like a tour de Asian countries type of restaurant. The location is great, there are plenty of places to park. Within walking distance of all parking places. Plenty of seating. Staff are all trained well on customer service. Very clean and amazing decor. Started with the Thai dumplings. Very impressive. Then had some Seafood Kapow and Singapore noodle (chicken) - excellent. Had brown rice, which was $0.50 extra - I wish they wouldn't, it's a stupid charge. The rice was cooked just right. I would go there again.

As I continue my search for good sushi in the Norther Virginia area I may not be finding great sushi, but I AM finding some interesting Asian restaurants. My cousin took me to Asian Bistro since she and my aunt go all the time and they rave about it. They've become acquainted with the staff there (all Thai) and the sushi chef behind the counter usually knows what they want and offers up suggestions. The interior is very comfortable and welcoming, if not just a little too chilly. We were the only ones in there at the time so we had the bar to ourselves and we watched the chef prepare so to-go orders (something that they just started doing). The menu was a wide variety of dishes from all over Asia - Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and one variation of Vietnamese pho. Generally when I think of fusion I think of a blend of ethnicities combined in to one dish, but here it might be the fusion of many nations' foods on the same menu. Whatever, it works for me. We stuck with some specialty rolls instead of entrees. Our meal: appetizer - Vietnamese summer rolls (excellent) appetizer - Khanom Jeep (excellent) specialty roll - Dynamite Roll specialty roll - Asian Bistro Roll (very good) specialty roll - King Street Spider Roll (so so) maki - Salmon Avocado Roll (excellent) nigiri - smoked salmon (I didn't eat it) dessert - mango and sticky rice The sushi was fresh and beautifully presented. The service was top notch and the staff was extremely friendly, filling our glasses when needed and clearing plates when they were empty. We were not rushed in any way and the staff were appropriately engaging. I will definitely be going back again. Though I didn't get a straight answer on their delivery schedule, the fish was fresh and they [said] get fish deliveries "all the time", which I am guessing means that they get several deliveries a week depending on what they need. But that's an assumption and can't necessarily be taken for truth. I particularly liked that there wasn't loud music playing that we had to shout over or even talk loudly to overcome. Will definitely have to go here again and maybe even try a location closer to my office in Old Town Alexandria. I gave them a 2-dollar rating because our meal totaled $60 for all of our food, but we also didn't drink any alcohol.

We came back to Asian Bistro on Saturday night for my dad's 66th birthday. We ordered up quite a bit, started off with the daily special of Curry Puffs (chicken and potato w/ curry in a flaky wrapper), Summer Rolls and Khanom Jeep. All were very good (especially the Curry Puffs!), but a word of warning on the Summer Rolls- they use Thai Basil so if you aren't a fan of licorice you will want to steer clear. For entrees mom ordered the Kung Pao (and a chicken fried rice to take home), dad ordered the Basil Chicken, wife ordered a salad and I had the General Tso's. We also ordered up some sushi (yellowtail roll, unagi, ebi and some sundried tomato roll). Everything was good, though my wife isn't a fan of their sushi rice. The Tsing Tao was super fresh too which is just perfect on a hot day. The General Tso's was seriously the best Gen Tso's I have ever had. It was super crispy with big chunks of white meat. If I could change anything I'd probably have them make it a little spicy next time. I still like their Thai take on Kung Pao too.

Asian Bistro was amazing! I went for dinner the other night and had wonton soup, beef lo mein and chicken with cashews. The food was delicious, but the portions were smaller than other chinese restaurants and the prices were higher. Still worth it, though! And we split an awesome chocolate souffle for dessert...it was fantastic. I will definitely be returning ASAP! The decor is really nice, too. It's different-- very modern with great music playing. Fiance has been several times and told me that they had great lunch specials. I would love to come back and eat there for lunch soon! And there is outside seating too for when it's nice out. Free parking in the garage, too!

My fiance and I always stop by Bollywood Bistro for their buffet lunch and this time I convinced him to go with me to Asian Bistro (right across). I noticed most of the people inside had ordered food and were not eating from the buffet. The food in the trays looked like they were sitting around for a while...getting kind of dry. But that's typical of a buffet place (and I get very annoyed when people are surprised by it). When the food starts looking funny, crunchy, dry, discolored, or pooling inches of oil on the top (etc) that's when you should get scared. They offered a large selection of foods but I don't think I will be going to another Asian buffet again. It's not so much about flavor as it is greasy or very sugary. Usually at Bollywood we fill our plates several times because of the wide selection, but here, after one plate I was done for. I hadn't ate much, but the sweetness and greasiness really filled me up. I would come again, maybe to order something. We had dumplings and rolls - good The noodles had gotten a bit dry. The Basil (and chicken? or beef? I don't remember) didn't even taste like basil. The service was really good! They were very helpful and nice and didn't bother us too much. The decor was okay, nothing amazing either.

Ok food.... Ordered lunch special which was an appetizer (salad, spring rolls, soup, gyoza) and main course. Main course came out literally 1 minute after the appetizer was served. Hot and sour soup was good but not very temperature "hot". Same for my main course, the Spicy Thai Basil with chicken. Would not go out of my way to eat here again.

Fairfax City tends to lack higher quality restaurants, but this one marks the spot. Although some may complain about the "generic" Asian foods found here, in other words it is not a Vietnamese, Chinese, or Japanese restaurant, its a combination of them all! I have found all the dishes I tried to be better than average, and most, excellent. Chicken Satay, Grilled Beef, and the various Sushi are my favorites. I thoroughly enjoy the Dynamite and Volcano Sushis found here! Service is pretty consistent, but can be questionable during peak hours, but that's normal for any restaurant anyways. Oh, and they offer delivery (within 3 miles) as well, which is an added bonus.

I have been frequenting this place for about 9 months now, and I can honestly say they have made a vast improvement upon their service in that time. The service is now speedy and friendly, the sushi is served rapidly and is very good considering the price. I've been going for months and plan on continuing to grow now that the business has started picking up the pace and seating more people nightly.

Hmmm. Now what do you know? Another Fairfax Flop. Scanning the menu, they mainly focus on Thai specialties but they offer General Tso's? (1st warning) The waiter did not refill glasses of water/thai iced teas and was slower than traffic on 66? Did not even ask how the food was. Place was mad slow and generating very little business. (2nd Warning) Pad Thai and Teriyaki Chicken were both mad salty, plain, and dry. (3rd strike, your out!) Now I know why everybody was eating at Panera that day. Cause at Panera there is no No-frills. Try to avoid this place. It is not worth the overcharged prices.

The food is good, no complaints. The price is very reasonable, eapecially if you go for lunch and choose one of the lunch specials (buffet, lunch combo or sushi). We will go back again and try the sushi bar next time!

I love Asian Bistro! I used to go to their Old Town Alexandria location at least 2 times a week. Their sushi is EXCELLENT and their servers are great. I usually get a combination of sushi and Thai food when I dine there. I have never had a bad meal. It's very nicely decorated and great for couples or small group of friends. However, Thai Shirlington is still my fave Thai restaurant, this is as good as it gets in the local area.

My spouse and I dined on Hoi Jow appetizer (it's ok), and entries of Spicy Salmon Basil and Seafood Egg Noodle Spicy Basil. Both were quite good, but I expected the Seafood Egg Noodle to be spicy hot, and it was quite tame. The sauce with the salmon, however, kicked a** and my spouse had a hard time dealing with it. But she acclimated, to her credit, and gave the majority of sauce to me to pump up my dish. Overall, we both enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere. It's location in a relatively new building and courtyard was a plus. Free parking in the adjacent garage was also nice, too, especially in parking-challenged Fairfax City. We'll have to try the Alexandria location some time.

I had a gift certificate from restaurant.com so we went here for Valentine's Day. The food here is pretty good. I tried the curry laksa, and my boyfriend tried a sushi roll and some kind of fish (can't remember) and he said it was really good (he usually doesn't say that). The service was very slow though, even though it wasn't that crowded. For dessert, we had the Asian Banana split, and I loved the fried banana rolls. Yum!

Nothing special. Nothing fusion about it. It's a Thai place with sushi available. They give you a tiny amount of rice to start with and charge you for each refill! What a scam! The food was o.k., but Courtside Thai on Main Street is much better.

I purchased a groupon for this restaurant, otherwise I may have never tried it. We went on the middle of a Sunday afternoon, around 2:30. The service was good, but slow, the food was hot and fresh. There is a variety of cuisines to choose from. There is a buffet to choose from during lunch, but we both ordered off the menu. They offer a limited lunch menu that includes an appetizer, or you can order from the main menu. The restaurant is newer, clean, and in a nice area of downtown Fairfax, however, it is surrounded by other restaurant options. I don't visit downtown that often, so I'm not sure how soon I would return to this restaurant, but I have no complaints.

Not sure whether to give this place 2 or 3 stars. I stopped by this place on a planned trip to dinner at Panera, thinking it'd be worth a try. It wasn't. Food was okay. Not great, not bad, just okay. Very small portions. Usually when I eat Thai I pay similar prices and have at least one or two meal's worth of leftovers. I had none from this restaurant and neither did my boyfriend. There's a fairly large dining room but there was only one table inside with diners. Most people were eating outdoors, which is a nice plus. Overall, the prices are not worth the food. Try a different restaurant if you're in the mood for Asian in Fairfax.

The rating is mainly based on the sushi. We ordered a king street spider, spicy salmon roll, shrimp tempura roll, and an order or Ikura. All the sushi was subpar. The issue that with the rolls was that the rice was hard and not sticky... this may or may not be the reason but the rolls were falling apart when we picked them up. The taste combinations were OK but nothing spectacular... in fact the soft shell crab portion in the spider roll was small. Also the salmon roe that was used for the ikura seemed like it was soaked in alcohol (sake maybe?) prior to. As a result when I picked up the ikura there was a puddle on the bottom that soaked through the rice. There was a strong alcohol taste to the ikura which helps reduce some of the initial fishiness that can be off putting BUT it drowns out the wonderful salty salmony taste that you expect from salmon roe or any type of caviar for that matter. So in my opinion, it really took away from the experience of eating ikura. Had we ordered ONLY the sushi, I would have given this place a one. The sushi isn't necessarily cheap either. For good sushi, I usually frequent Konami in Tysons... LOVE LOVE LOVE their spicy mayo and spider roll. So for the price and qualify, the sushi gets a one. The service was ok... our waters were refilled adequately and they come by frequently but not too much to ask if everything was OK. Although, I'm not sure our waitress heard our order correctly because she came by twice after to ask us the type of noodle we wanted for our entree. This made me nervous that, that was going to get screwed up as well. At this point, with the experience we were having with the sushi we weren't hopeful. We a curry laksa which was pretty good. It's not truly how Malaysians make it but I'd say it's a good Malaysian inspired dish. Also a lot of the prepared dishes that were coming from the kitchen looked really good and smelled fantastic as the servers were bringing the food to other tables. Getting back to the service... before our dish was on the way, she mentioned that the curry laksa was going to be served with rice. I thought this was strange since it was a noodle soup dish, but when the dish came along with the side of rice, we didn't think anything of it. Come to find out, we were charged $1.25 for the side of rice. Again... maybe a miscommunication/misunderstanding of the waitress? At this point, we didn't want to argue so we just decided to pay it and go. With everything said and done, we'll probably be back to try the Thai food but definitely not the sushi. As far as the service goes, maybe we just have to be clearer the next go around.

I would really like to give this restaurant more than one star for the quality of the food, but they do not deserve it. Fairfax desperately needs good restaurants. The food is good, the service, indifferent. We received a delivery menu the other day and decided to give Asian Bistro a try. When we ordered on a Tuesday evening at 8:45, we were told the food would arrive in 45 minutes. After one hour we called and were told they would call the driver and call us back if there was a problem. No, we are sorry for the delay and no call back to let us know whether or not there was a problem with the delivery person. The driver arrived 1 hour and 15 minutes after the order was placed with cold food and no apology for taking so long. Total indifference. When we told the driver we were deducting money from the tip for the late delivery, no response. Was it a language barrier or just ignorance? Too bad, we will never patronize Asian Bistro again.

Great little place right next to GMU and within walking distance to shopping centers and other businesses. Waited FOREVER for this place to open, and it was GREAT! It's a mix of all asian style food, and when you think Pan-Asian restaurants, you think mediocre and less than average asian food. But this place does it right! Suishi - Fresh, vibrant and some of the best I've had. Almost as good as Yoko Sushi, but cheaper. I had the Asian Bistro Roll, and the Tempura + Eel melts together so well. Entrees - I had the Sea Bass and the fried whole fish. WOW! It was fresh, seasoned just right, and absolutely delicious! The portion size is perfect! And the flavor profile is deep and delicate. Dessert - Mango Sticky rice. Sticky rice flavored with Pandan , coconut milk and served with fresh mango. Try it... it's ADDICTIVE..... Drinks - The owner whipped out the ever so popular Firefly ice tea and the freshly made lemonade! Service - Not your typical "I don't care about you" Asian restaurant service. The servers are very interactive, and truly care about how their guests are doing. Speedy, attentive, and very knowledgable. They laugh and have fun working there. I had several questions about different sauces and needed recommended. My server answered them all, and even got us sample sauces to try! We ordered all her suggestions and WOW! Best money ever spend. Now days, with the economy, people definitely do not dine out as much. But it does not mean they do not dine out at all. We are just more selective on where we want to go. Asian Bistro in Fairfax definitely has 2 thumbs up! Great service, excellent and consistent food! And the décor is just stunning! Get the Mango Sticky rice! It's sooooo GOOOOOOD

Food was tasty and artfully presented. (Sushi, pad thai, and lettuce wraps ordered for our party). However, with a party of two one entree was served almost ten minutes prior to the second entree being served. Dining area is also a little on the small side, which led to a rather loud atmosphere. Might return.

3.5*** not quite a 4, but it works in a pinch. their selection is average, but the quality wasnt bad. I got pieces of white tuna and yellowtail. both the nigiri and 2 rolls i had were good. on a side note, did you know white tuna(escolar) is actually banned in japan? i read it on wiki...i dont want mineral oil oozing out of my rear! the place isn't bad, and im sure their dishes are quality as well. the hostess was cute, so i'll probably stop by another time!

3.5 as well. Got a mailer and decided to give it a shot. We only ordered for carry-out so this is in no way a reflection of the service or the ambiance. Food - We ordered a couple of Sushi platters (Rainbow and Asian Bistro Roll). They did not look like grade A fish, but you could tell it was relatively fresh. We did survive the rest of the afternoon, so I guess it was decent fish. We also ordered won ton and Thom Kha soup. Both were very good, in particular the Won Ton. My only issue was that the shrimp that came with the soup still had the "black vein". We would definitely go back as I see that this place could probably do a really good job in some of their other asian options. This could become a Fairfax gem if they listen to customers feedback.

I have been eating at this restaurant for nearly ten years - first the one in Alexandria and then the newer location in Fairfax. It is absolutely my favorite restaurant and my husband loves it too. The one in Fairfax is not quite as nicely decorated as the one in old town - it just seems a bit dark in comparison. However, the food is great and very consistent. No matter when we go, we can count on the same dish tasting just as good as it always does (and also they are the same from one location to the next). I don't eat sushi so I can't comment on that, but my husband thinks it's good - not the best he's ever had, but really good. I also think the prices are very reasonable - lower than comparable restaurants in both locations. I've never had a bad dish here, and between my husband and me we've tried most of them. However, I especially love the veggie spring rolls - they are the best I've ever had anywhere. I also have no complaints about service - never had one single problem, ever. I was pretty shocked to see that it doesn't have a higher rating here - I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

not good, not awful. we got a $25 gift card from restaurant.com . thank god i didn't really pay $50 for that meal. we ordered the calamari appitizer, which was typical small rings deep fried. it did come with a random orange sauce that was delicious, much better than the usual marinara. the whole appetizer was just ok. we decided to just get a bunch of sushi rolls, so we got spicy tuna, some lobster one, a maryland crab, volcano and crunchy shrimp. first of all, the menu said the lobster one came with 8 pieces, and all the rolls had just 6. i know it's ridiculous to bitch about 2 pieces but the two of us were still hungry after eating all this food. plus, i'm not sure there was even lobster in it! could not taste anything. all the pieces on every roll were way too tiny and barely had any meat inside. it was like eating rice balls with some seaweed. i will say thought that they spicy tuna was clearly the best and if we had ordered 6 rolls of spicy tuna, i'd probably give it 3 stars instead of 2. but why would you want just 6 spicy tunas? then, it took foreverrrr to get the check. they got really busy at the end of the night but, our server was doing his best. there were about 8 other tables of diners but only 2 waiters and ours was the only one doing work. but, he was really nice and i felt bad for him. i will say that my glass of water was never empty; he was great on refills which is a big deal to me. overall, i wouldn't come back. still searching for some good sushi around here.

First time eating at Asian Bistro was a thumbs up, however, the second time around was a flop. We ended up there after being told at Bollywood across the way the wait would be an hour. Hungry and trying to make our movie time, we headed to Asian Bistro instead. Waited forever for a server, finally ordered appetizers, then waited another 30 min for them to arrive. The main course portion size was suited better for my 9 year old so needless to say my husband and I left still hungry. Oh and yea...we missed our movie because of the delayed service.

We ordered the rainbow roll and the spicy lobster roll to start with, followed by chicken lo mein, curry laksa and Singapore rice noodle. The sushi wasn't screaming fresh, but was quite decent. The Singapore rice noodle was the waitress' recommendation, and according to my wife, was quite good. The lo mein was too sweet. A good laksa is well-balanced with the lemongrass and peanut working in harmony in the broth. This leaned over a bit too far in high-fructose corn syrup territory. Service was unobtrusive, and the ambience nice. Next time we go, we're sticking to the sushi.

I received a Resturant.com coupon for this place and since it was nearby, we decided to try it out. The décor inside is clean, modern and pretty trendy. The boyfriend and I had our weekly Wednesday date nights here and it was a pretty slow night it seemed. There were a couple of tables filled up with a few more people at the bar. We started off with an order of the crab wontons and curry puffs. Both were okay, not anything to write home about. Like many places, their dipping sauce is store-bought and came straight from the bottle. Next I ordered 2 different types of sushi rolls and the boyfriend got Spicy Basil Fried Rice. Everything was mediocre and average. For the quality and amount of the food, it is over-priced . From my experience if an "Asian" restaurant is serving different types of cuisine on their menu (Thai, Sushi and Chinese), at best, the food will be decent. With such a broad menu, Asian Bistro is not able to actually specialize on one distinctive type of cooking and is really Americanized Asian food. All in all, wasn't impressed at all and even with another coupon, would not return. Not worth it at all.

Asian Bistro does a reasonably good job with what their menu offers. Sometimes "Asian" places try to do too much by offering every type of Asian cuisine with the result that they do none of them well. They do offer a sushi bar and express lunch buffet and now ramen, but Thai-style dishes are the mainstay of the menu. Most dishes taste as they should, which may not sound like much, but there's more than one place in town that can't do a proper pad Thai. I especially like their whole fish. The ramen can satisfy a quick fix, but it can be overly salty and it's a fairly small bowl but the noodles are firm with good bite. Overall it's a good casual sit-down option I've frequented in Old Town Fairfax and offers the occasional Groupon.

Good try but missed opportunity.. Any restaurant that aims to reach average bill of $30 per person must hire professional management and inventory management system. 86s are way too often here. Service: You have multiple servers taking your order and forgetting them. One works hardest, the others are confused. One sushi chef, 30 mins waiting time for bad sushi. Chaos rules here. I suspect this place will close down in a year if it is managed (or not managed). But again, there are always first timers visiting bad restaurant in good locations everyday. Sushi: Junk sushi that butchers the thousand year old Japanese tradition but can get relatively decent thai food. Salmon Handroll was a huge handroll with thick block of cream cheese and as thick salmon block that was yellowish dry and tasteless.. Salmon roe had roes that were as dry as cement board. I was told that Japanese sushi association put a contract on this place to Tokyo yakuza for shaming the word sushi. Anyhow. My suggestion: don't go. In fact, run away...

Decided to give this place a try after reading the reviews here on yelp. First off I would like to say that the food is mediocre and pricey for the amount and quality. Sushi portions were miniscule and presentation was blah. The rolls were sad looking. Staffs were friendly but need more training. Wait for food is about 30-40 minutes.

The best chinese food I've found in NoVA. I've loved every sushi roll that I have tried and the Tom Yum is crazy good.

So we came here because the place we wanted to go to had an hour and a half wait time. I'm so glad that we did too. The staff was great and the sushi chef made the most delicious white tuna ceviche that I've ever had to go along with the sushi sampler that I ordered. The fried rice was great for my kids as well.

One of my favorites in the area. I've been eating here since it opened, and have never been disappointed. The portions are huge and the food is great. I also love the modern decor, cleanliness of the restaurant, and the quick (if sometimes a bit curt) waitstaff. I recommend Pad Thai or crab fried rice, they are family favorites!

They have a pretty good Happy Hour. It's the best time to get good food for a great price!

I tried the buffet on Father's Day - the food was alright. There wasn't much flavor to the options. I would say the drunken noodles with chicken was the best option. There were some sushi choices, but a lot of patrons missed it (it was on a separate counter). The sushi wasn't worth getting. I ended up ordering a vegetarian sushi from the menu - it was also tasteless. Bottom line: I'm not motivated to go back here. The service was great, but there are many other better sushi/Asian food options in northern VA.

Just finished up dinner which was excellent. Wait staff was prompt and efficient checking through out dinner if everything was ok - Which it was. I had Cashew Chicken (again excellent) with Spring Rolls - (marginal) and a Saki. Would recommend for casual dining and I definitely plan to return.

the rolls and sushi are good. the noodle soup is sooooo small and expensive. the worst part is it has a very long waiting time between you order and you have your food on table. there is only 1 or 2 waiters who is very busy.

The food was decent. But the service was bad. Forgotten drink orders. Forgotten soup order. And they charged us for an extra buffet. It took forever just to get napkins. And then a while to straighten out the bill. Not a great experience. Would not return unless the place was empty and we could get better attention.

One of my favorite Asian fusion restaurants. Their Rock and Roll sushi is a family fave. Packed with cream cheese, eel, and tempura shrimp, this roll is good for budding foodies who are too young to eat raw fish. They offer delivery but it's not always the fastest. If you're dining in and want to break free from Pad Thai, the Tamarind Flounder is a nice surprise. This crispy fillet is drizzled with a delectable tamarind sauce with a hint of sweetness. In warmer months, we love to eat outside in the courtyard where tables are usually easier to get than they are a neighboring restaurants.

As far as asian restaurants go, this restaurant has great presentation, great atmosphere and attention to detail. The waiter and waitresses were very attentive and the food came out quickly. The presentation of the food was very pretty. They have the nicest waiters and waitresses that I have ever seen in a chinese restaurant. The food was good, however the amount of the price that you pay, the portions were very small. It was just the two of us having dinner and we barely had enough to eat with three entrees. Because the portions were small, the prices were relatively expensive. So if you're on a very low calorie diet and want small portions and great atmosphere then this is the restaurant for you.

This is a solid restaurant with fast and attentive service. I've had dinner at this place about three times. They offer separate menus for sushi and thai food. Some of the Thai entrees are a hit or miss, but all of the appetizers we've had have been pretty tasty. Two notables are the pop shrimp and the dynamite mussels. For the entrees, I would suggest checking out the daily specials. As for the sushi, the quality of the seafood is pretty decent. While I wouldn't say it's one of the top sushi I've ever tasted, I still left pretty satisfied at the end of the meal. Their own take on the Spider roll (King St Spider Roll) left the dish a bit bitter with some added vegetables. The salmon nigiri was soft, buttery, and delicious. The service was more impressive than the food. Our waitress often stopped by to check on us, and I never had to ask for water refills. They also quickly processed our bill. Overall, it was a good dining experience and I would definitely come back.

Not a fan of this place. Once seated i got asked for our drink order by 2 different men, then while one of the guys came back with no drinks to take the order, he left and was replaced by a young lady. It was a little odd. The food is overpriced. I guess it's old town fairfax so that can be expected. However, the food was not good. Salty....small portions. So with the small portions, it's like the food is overpriced by 15% rather than 5%. A scoop of rice came with an entree and was $1.50 for an extra scoop.

Review should've been written in February 2012 -- Haven't been back since and when I see this option pop up on Yelp, I am immediately reminded of my experience here... - food is horrible... their salmon wrapped in leaves was so bland, not seasoned, and felt as though they just placed it in the oven, hoping the flavor of the leaves would blend in the salmon... fail - noodle dishes - fail - sushi - service was slow Was here with a party of 18 and they wanted to separate our group instead of putting the tables together. We instead put the tables together and everyone fit... No desire to go back and was wishing we were at the crowded Indian place across instead when we were at Asian Bistro.

I tried this place because a co-worker of mine told me this place had really good ramen. I also had a Groupon deal. Where do I begin?! Service still needs a lot of work. When we were about to order, I mentioned my Groupon deal to our server just to let him know. He said ok and that I didn't need to show him the coupon until we asked for the check. Throughout the meal I think I had 3 different waiters all coming to ask me how everything was. Kind of annoying getting interrupted during my meal so many times. I ordered the chirashi which took about 45 minutes to come out. One of the waiters apologized for the delay. Chirashi was nothing special - the slices of fish were cut a little too big. I felt like they should have cut some of the pieces a little smaller so it's easier to eat. Fish was fresh - I give them kudos for that. When it was time for the bill, they forgot about my Groupon deal. By the time we figured out the correct amount, I was so ready to get out of there. Paid in cash and left. Will not be going back unless I hear service is better. I also got the Singapore noodles. Not that good.
