So today was the great "Icemageddon Storm of 2014" and most businesses were closed. However, the girlfriend and I were determined to eat out for lunch and discovered this place was in fact open. We walk in to an absolutely gorgeous ambiance with relaxing music and comfortable seating; we're off to a great start! We then look at the menu and everything is quite inexpensive; namely a lunch special for $5.75 I believe. This special included soup, rice or lo mein, and an entree. We both opted for this and a Crab Rangoon appetizer. I asked to substitute my soup for an eggroll since I'm not a fan of brothy soups, but they denied my request which was a bit disappointing. We got our soups not to long after and did not enjoy mine for the aforementioned reason, but the girlfriend seemed to enjoy hers. We then got the Crab Rangoon which was again...meh. However, we got our entrees and I had a hearty and tasty serving of lo mein and a relatively good beef in garlic sauce. My only gripe on the entree was that it wasn't meaty enough (very small amount of beef with tons of vegetables). However, it was very satisfactory for the price, the ambiance was good, and service was overall good and attentive. I will say that there are better Chinese establishments around with regards to good quality, but for the price, it is well worth it!

Went here for lunch and it was kind of busy. Service was a little slow and a little rude, but that's what you expect in a chinese restaurant. Food was not bad. I had the beef noodle soup, while my mother had the buffet. Prices were very cheap!

In a word... weak. In general, I have been terribly disappointed with the Chinese fare here in Memphis. Wang's food didn't make me sick (that was Formosa's), so they get two stars. But really? I mean, I'm a Caucasian and I think I could make better Chinese food! There are so many unique spices and flavors that can be employed in Asian cooking... I think someone needs to tell Wang's about these condiments. Really. Panda Express rivals this place, and Panda Express is just wrong.

the lunch buffet is spot on with the choices and quality of food served. I know this to be true when I can look around and see several tables with children sitting and enjoying a Chinese meal and not sitting with a Happy Meal in front of them while the adults eat Wangs. The food is fresh, and the atmosphere is always comfortable when your always welcomed back with each visit. The only word of caution, is the rest rooms are not on par with the rest of the place. It's not that they are unclean, but they could stand be updated.

Listen people. This is not China. Nor is it Chinatown in New York City. Nor is it Chinatown in San Francisco. This Memphis. MEMPHIS. The veritable food black of the the universe, save BBQ and a few fancy fine dining places that still only manage to be be par for the course. The only thing that has knocked my socks off in Memphis is bi bim bop at Kwik Check. Just be grateful that Chinese food - made my real Asians even - is available to you as an option at all.

First: the only reason this place gets a two-star was that their food was good. Everything else was well below par. Where to begin? I walked in and asked about sitting in the bar area. I was told by the hostess that I couldn't sit there. I agreed to be seated at a table. I went to the men's room and found that a) it was dirty, b) the door to the stall had no latch, and c) there was this strange 3-4" hole in the floor next to the toilet that I can only assume was some sort of drain pipe. Then the toilet was broken... Enough about the restrooms. I almost left, but decided that since they had "Best Chinese in Memphis" signs from a local weekly posted all over, I'd give it a try. After being seated, I ordered a glass of wine. The waitress acted hesitant and confused before finally agreeing to get me a glass of wine. As my wine was delivered, I saw several other people being allowed to go have a drink at the bar (which apparently was not closed). The food was good, but small portions for the price. I definitely think this place is on its way out the door. I'm still not sure how they got voted #1 in Memphis other than maybe lack of competition. I don't recommend it.

Awful does not begin to describe the lunchtime buffet. The place used to be really good, that changed about 2 yrs ago.

Our favorite Chinese restaurant. We eat lunch or dinner there at least once a month. The food is fresh, well prepared, and more than ample. The lunch buffet is a huge bargain with a wide array of choices. The owners and staff are welcoming, friendly, and eager to please.

Super nice staff. Awesome food. Great place for a date. Not to loud and a menu that's easy to share. I Might be biased because I'm dating the most incredible woman in the world so everything is great. Seriously, great food, good atmosphere and excellent staff!

This is my favourite Chinese place in East Memphis. Sure it's right by a PF Chang's, but this is much more authentic, at least for Memphis fare. I've tried many dishes here: General Tso's, Sweet and Sour, but the Dragon and Phoenix is probably my favourite. It's a nice combo of spicy and not spicy, fried and sautéed, etc. Much less heavy than an entire plate of fried meat covered in a thick sauce, not that there's anything wrong with that. They do also offer delivery, and while I can't speak of it because I've never lived within the range they deliver, I did order delivery from their old downtown location, and always had a great experience with it and no issues. So my experience might not be totally valid, but I'd assume the same people run this location as did the downtown one, so I figured it's at least worth a mention. The staff is wonderful, too. I always have excellent service. It's easy to see why this place wins Best Chinese Restaurant in Memphis!

Best Chinese food in the city. Perfect for these cold nights when you don't feel well. The wonton soup will help to literally change your life. The owner has a very in touch relationship with the restaurant. Nothing is bad here.

Food flavor is not consistent at all. They have a ton of options, so I don't know how they can be consistent really. You may get a nice mild flavor on your lo mein one day and the next barely any at all. And I'm convinced they tried to pass some spaghetti noodles off as lo mein one time. The carrots and broccoli don't taste fresh, but I'm really not expecting it to in this place...just letting you know. Hubby likes the fried rice and the heavily breaded General Tso's shrimp. They have "Voted Best Chinese Since 1983" on their take-out menus...I need to see the ballot.

The food was exoensive and bland. Very disappointed in the taste, quality and quantity. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Great takeout spot! Consistently great. We are regulars getting takeout once a week over the last 5 years.

Wang's has a small authentic menu, and EVERYTHING ON THAT MENU IS FANTASTIC! Technically speaking, I believe those dishes were already on the regular menu for a while. But pointing those out in a separate menu is definitely VERY SMART. All the noodles on that menu is fantastic. The Zha Jiang Mein and Dan Dan Noodles are definitely somethings that you should try first if you're a beginner in authentic Chinese. For the beef noodle soup, ask for chili sauce and the Chinese pickled vegetables (that typically doesn't come with it) for the most authentic beef noodle soup experience in town. As for the pork chop noodle soup, ask for it over rice instead; that'll be so much more authentic. And the cold sesame noodles is great for a hot summer's day... okay, I'm making myself hungry again and I just ate! The spicy cucumber and the scallion pancakes are also as authentic as it gets, but the favors here are a little bit heavier for the novice. As for the shrimp wonton soup noodle, the only negative I would say about that is that Mosa is pretty close to here. And Mosa has got the best wontons in town. We have two really good American-Chinese places serving authentic items right nearby each other. Yeah?!? Decor wise, Wang's itself is definitely due for an update. East Bistro on the other side is passible? Sorry, I watched too many HGTV, Restaurant Impossible, and Kitchen Nightmare. You will also find the most authentic tasting Chinese lunch buffet in town here. After realizing that it takes me less time to get here from work then it takes me to get to Wang's Express on Highland due to traffic despite being much closer, I'll definitely be checking into here more often.

Excellent little eat in Chinese place in East Memphis under the shadow of St. Francis hospital. Quaint. I had the General Tso's prepared extra spicy with their plain fried rice. Let me just say, this General Tso's was some of the best I've ever had. I like the atmosphere and their live piano player on this Saturday night was great. I'll definitely be back and next time I'll bring my wife! Haha I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that they deliver!

A side note: When we entered the parking lot two 20 ish women in a new huge grey Chrysler 300 started driving on the wrong side - the right - so we went left. Then they backed into a handicapped spot without the tag and entered before we did. We got a quiet table in the back while the women ordered carry out in front. When they got their order they complained and asked for a manager. The hostess left the cash register to get the owner and the duo grabbed the cash drawer and left. Police were using wifi out front and immediately boxed them in. Four patrol cars had them when we left with their lights flashing. What not to do while needing some cash... Don't drive an expensive new car with a paper tag, park illegally in a handicapped space, commit a robbery in front of many witnesses, be females with no purses and run out of a restaurant with a cash drawer..... The food.... Despite the distraction service is good but the food is mediocre at best. I had the ginger chicken and my husband the bok choy. Both were priced about $10.95 with small portion size. The wonton soup was bland with two wontons and maybe a half scallion décor.

A little greasy and small portions for the large size order (about half the amount of food usually in a large dish that's around the same price $9.99). Food taste was okay at best.

I'm a firm believer in staying local and steering away from the chain for something solid. Wang's looked like it might just be that little place tucked away in the corner of a strip mall that had the magic. Greeted at the door for an early dinner on Thursday night. People were pleasant and the food was good, but for $15 you can get a better meal.

This easily one of my favorite chinese places in memphis, not that that says much because of the limited options. But it is one of the few upper scale ones and then imperial noodles and general tso's chicken are both amazing.

very excellent dishes, especially some of the shrimp entrees, also the pork ,served in a wrapper .quiet dinner atmosphere with good service. no waiting. I didn't think the options were limited at all. be adventuresome. everything we have tried was good.

Went there at the recommendation of friends for an early new years eve dinner. The service was attentive, all the dishes were very tasty and reasonably priced and there was a live piano player on the baby grand. We really liked it for what it is.... tasty American style Chinese food in a pleasant setting at reasonable prices.

We read in the local newspaper this restaurant was rated #1 in Memphis so we drove in from Lakeland to try it. Twice. First we tried it on a Sat. nite, 4 of us in an empty place....where was everybody if it is so popular we thought? Our food was fine, service fine, nothing outstanding at all though. We went back for a weekday lunch buffet a month later...BAD MOVE! Mostly luke-warm food on a very sparse buffet, and unfriendly pushy owners, freezer-burned desserts purchased from Sam's Club or the like, and Fox Newscasters yelling on TV in dining room. There are alot better spots to spend my money at.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
