They had the best gumbo i have every had. I have had gumbo in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, St Louis, homemade from southerns, and this one beat them all hands down!

Hubs and I dropped in before the rush of guests, but it didn't do us much good as our waiter didn't come to take our order for around 30 minutes. Water was given to us immediately but was gone by the time he came back for our order and never refilled. After finishing our meal we tried to flag the waiter down for the check for about 15 minutes before finally getting his attention. That being said, the food was awesome. Husband had red beans and rice, I just had chicken fingers but the house ranch dipping sauce was the best I've ever had. Husband said the red beans and rice was the best he's ever had, hearty and just enough heat. Might go back for the food if given the opportunity, but if the place has any number of guests we would walk away.

Other people have mentioned the food. I'll just say that we drink here. The fries are good though. We like the place as it is not usually too busy and the staff is usually pretty nice. There is a douchy manager/staff or two but overall pretty nice. Big Ass beers are cheap and the side bar is a good spot to watch a Grizzlies game if you don't have tickets. This is also our go to spot for the St Patricks day parade. "Ho" lotta shakin going on!

We were passing through to check out the band. Unlike some of the other spots there weren't people up dancing and having a good time. The place was actually pretty empty for a Saturday night (Memorial Day weekend). The band was cool though. They played like they had a packed crowd. Tip! No cover charge

Great house band that really rocks out. Normally you can get a drink pretty quickly un-like other establishments on Beale on A Grizz game night. It is a great people watching vantage point because of it's location. The food is typical pub grub and not remarkable. This is a better drinking and listening to Music place.

A group of 15 of me and my family members were going to come here together during a reunion. After letting half us in wearing jean shorts and tank tops, the other half (wearing the exact same thing) were denied entry because they did not follow the "dress code". When asked where the dress code was posted, we were told that it was based on judgement. Totally ridiculous and basic down south RACISM.

I should have known better is what I keep thinking....Jerry Lee Lewis's is a tourist restaurant on Beale and likely can get away with being over priced pub grub (wish this wasn't true). I also read the Yelp reviews and should have chosen else where, but I was there, hungry and figured maybe I'll roll the dice and it will be a success. Not so much. The food is very plain overall - lots of friend food and chicken sandwich type stuff. My family felt their meals were pretty generic boring food. The hushpuppies were hard, the fried oysters were overcooked and the fries (despite yelp reviews) were seriously lacking in tastiness. The service was also very poor. Several times we had to flag down the waitress who just wasn't around (it was 2pm and no one was in there - where was she???). When she did come to help us she often forgot items we asked for. The perks (yes, there were a couple good points - why it's 2 stars and not 1) were that it is a nice space. I love the structure of the building and it's likely a good place to drink. The sweet tea was good too - not too sweet! And the bar-b-que nachos were tasty. I also liked that their fried pickles included fried jalapenos! Nice touch. Overall though, there are MANY more places in Memphis that represent our culinary capabilities for the same price. Unless your drunk - go elsewhere!

I have been here a few times now; and while it is not the best bar in Memphis we have a good time here. The food I only tried once and it was good and bad. Their burger was terrible it tasted like an old frozen burger and was extremely well done. On the other hand the french fries were great we were told they use duck fat when frying them. The service has always been good here everyone has been friendly from the front door attendees, waitresses and bartenders. They have a Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis impersonator that plays there and they are really good; we had a great time watching him. It is a nice place to stop in for a quick drink and for the ladies the bathroom line is usually not too bad :-)

HORRIBLE DISCRIMINATION! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS!!! Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! On June 26 2015, 15 of my family members and I, all of us visiting from different states went to Beale street to enjoy ourselves and have a reunion. When my family and I saw "Jerry Lee Lewis" and what appeared to be a fun atmosphere on the second floor while we were walking by outside, we were excited to go into this establishment and have a good time as well.. All of my other cousins paid the $5 cover fee to get in me being at the very end of the group. When I got close to the door the guy collecting the cover charge at the door, yelled at me saying "You can't come in here like that! You are out of dress code!" Me living in Southern California where we dress in shorts almost year around I looked down at my outfit and asked "Oh is it because I'm wearing shorts? (At this point I'm thinking this is a valid reason he would say I'm out of dress code but then I looked at my other male cousins who he had just allowed into the bar and they also had on shorts as well as some of my female cousins) He stated "No it's not because you have on shorts." He looked at me with pure disgust and said "You got on a tank top with your shirt all open!" I said "Oh well that's an easy fix I can button up my denim shirt." He said "Hmm maybe but I still don't think so, button it up and then step back and let me look at you." I proceeded to button my denim shirt over my tank top and he was still looking at me with such disgust as if I had committed some type of heinous crime, his tone and attitude towards me was completely unacceptable. Mind you I had not said anything to this person nor done anything to him, I simply had waited my turn in line to get in with the rest of my family.. When my other cousins saw the way this man was discriminating against me they said to him "There is no difference in the way he is dressed and the way the other guys you let in were dressed.. The only difference is that his shorts are shorter (my shorts came right above my knees) and you don't like the fact that he has on a opened shirt with a tank top and a hot pink baseball hat!" We were all so outraged.. As a gay man who lives an openly gay lifestyle in CA, I have never experienced such hatred and discrimination in my life simply because of the way I was dressed and in which case I wasn't dressed inappropriately in the least bit.. In fact my outfit was dressier than most of the other patrons that were inside.. The only difference was that I was gay man and this person had a problem with it.. Do rest assured I will be writing into the local LGBTQ community to report the treatment that I experienced here at this establishment and also the Better Business Bureau. This obviously was extremely embarrassing to me and definitely a huge disappointment for me and the way I now view Memphis TN.. I previously had such high hopes and expectations for this establishment and all of those high expectations were ruined by this horrible act of discrimination and lack of progressiveness.. If the person who worked the door is any indication of the way this establishment is ran then I don't think this establishment should remain open, and I will continue to use my connections and networks to work towards the closure of this type of business and any other establishment that practices hatred and discrimination towards any group of people..

Great Elvis cover band. That does it all very well with a little Johnny cash & jerry lee thrown in. When in the area don't miss Graceland. Very well done & not nearly as touristy as I expected.

Beale St to me is a place where the tourists can come and sample Memphis, and a place for locals to come out as well if need be. Only living here for 2 months, I try to come to Beale at least once a week. I do not know what this says about me, but judge if you must. I have my go to spots, but then I would like to see what each business has to offer. Last weekend, my friends were in town and I brought them to Beale. It was pretty crowded, so I was looking for something a little lower key. Since I frequent the Ugly the most on Beale, that means I always walk by Jerry Lee Lewis's. I am a huge fan of oldies, and I love his music. At the crowds here are usually hit or miss. So we decided to check it out. I had no idea how big the place was- on the first floor, you have a dance area, a bar, a patio, and an outdoor garden area in the back. And then there is an upstairs as well. So there is plenty of seating. Well, you can tell we were there at a peak time, as it was everyman for themselves. So I grabbed a table on the first floor bar or else we would still be looking for a seat. I say this, because I think most of the staff assumes the people are there just to look around and not eat... So after a few minutes, we got menus and drink orders in. They have an alright selection of drinks, so I started off with a beer and a long island. I also ordered bbq nachos. The drinks came out fairly quickly, however, the nachos did not. I figured they were smoking the meats still, I figured if it would take this long for nachos, I expect them to be spectacular. about 30-40 minutes later, the nachos came. Well after seeing them, I found out why it took so long- they must have had to go to the store to get some chips, but forgot to buy the cheese and the meat. The bites I did have were tasty, but it was a sorry excuse for a nacho plate. It looked like a small handful of cheese, a little sauce, and barely any meat, and what little there was it was piled in the center. Let's just say I had a lot of plain chips. Getting to see my friends from Atlanta was the best part about being here, and the décor. Other than that, get your beer on the outside and look for food elsewhere. Sorry, Jerry, but this one was a let down!

Music and venue were pretty cool but the gumbo and red beans and rice were awful. They were not even close to tasting how they should. Jerry needs to come back to Memphis and see what crap they are making and marketing as "his own family recipe". There is no way that with Jerry having been raised in Louisiana, that his families red beans and rice and gumbo taste like that. We were VERY disappointed.

First, let me say I was born and raised in Memphis, TN, but the service I received in this restaurant was less than stellar. My major issue was that the employees were drinking alcohol while working and seemed to be intoxicated. There are two bars in this establishment. Once I entered the door, I went to the bar on the left. The waitress was pretty attentive. I can tell she had been drinking but she was not drunk. Now I received completely different service from the bar on the right. The waitress took my order and prepared me a delicious drink. The music was good as well. The problem arose when I prepared to pay my tab. The waitress was no where to be found. I could have easily walked out without paying my tab but I did not. I proceeded to walk to the bar I entered on the left to pay my tab from the bar on the right. I will suggest that if you are looking for a bar with attentive staff then go elsewhere.

My family and I were walking Beale Street. My children are 10 & 13. The caller outside the doorway was excited, pleasant and encouraged us to attend the Elvis Show. We had our doubts however we accepted the invitation and we LOVE it! My husband and I didn't eat however our children gabbled up the kid's chicken tender plates and fries. We ended up staying over an hour and half. We were entertained and enjoyed a friendly and prompt staff.

I will admit, and I should probably spend the time looking up who this is rather then admitting to you I have no clue whose restaurant we ventured to while on Beale... but oh well... We toodled around on Beale for a bit and my 2bff's and our moms decided to mosey on over to Jerrys place. We went in, looked for a table upstairs, and then wandered around the downstairs for a few until Tom took the initiative to grab a table and pull up some stools :) We went ahead and got some drinks, couple beers, couple long islands, etc. and some snacks to tide us over- BBQ Nachos. We went through the drinks, ordered another round i believe, and got to the point we were kind of sitting around wondering if the food order had been missed, we had seen 3 or 4 orders of nachos come from the kitchen to tables... none of which were ours.. so naturally when we are about to snag the server for the check, the nachos come out. They were a step up from what I have had lately in Atlanta, tender pork, good flavor, decently loaded up on the plate. Good call :) Waited around a bit more and had to flag the server down again for the bill. The drinks were tasty and the company was superb.. the service was slow, and seemed pre occupied... With all the other places available i don't feel like they made a mark in my to go back list... but i don't regret the stop.

My sisters and I were on Beale Street on a Sunday night. We were excited to find some good music to listen to and Jerry Lee Lewis's didn't disappoint! I was so impressed by the "Jerry Lee" on stage. He did an excellent job portraying his image and had amazing showmanship along with extreme talent! If this review was just about the music, it would be 5 stars! Everything else about the restaurant was terrible. When we went to order food and drinks we were charged for bottled water. I wanted to try the Strawberry Chantilly desert and they were out. My sister wanted to order the chicken strips and was told they were out of chicken. I ended up ordering the Shrimp Remoulade salad with a price tag of $11. There were 4 medium sized fried shrimp that had a cornmeal texture and no flavor. There was no remoulade sauce - it was served with ranch? The salad that was iceberg lettuce tasted entirely like red onion. A huge disappointment. My sisters got a patty melt with a dry overcooked burger and a BLT that was eh. I went to the ladies room on my way out and the first stall didn't have a working lock. I went to use a 2nd stall and the toilet paper holder that should hold 2 jumbo rolls of toilet paper were BOTH empty. I was saved by someone 'sparing a square.' The first stall she tried to retrieve toilet paper for me was ALSO out of both of its jumbo rolls. When I went to use the sinks there was no paper towel at any of the sinks and no air dryer option either. The place has great potential, I just hope they decide to invest in more than the music.

A big rambling place you can easily get lost in, but has pretty cool atmosphere with the different bar / restaurant areas within the building. The waitress in the street level bar was extremely accommodating - when she had to tell us they no longer had fried oysters on the menu in that bar, she walked us upstairs to a quieter (much nicer for me) bar where a sweet young gal who sounded like Jewel was singing. We were just in time to get the last order into the kitchen before it closed and I enjoyed a fantastic salad with fried oysters on top. I was surprised to have such good food in a place that seemed kind of like a dive downstairs. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Staff and oysters were great, but overall the vibe was a bit too downscale to really give it 4 stars.

I and my dinner companions wandered in here thinking that it looked ok. It was just that, ok. I had the catfish dinner. The fish was lightly battered, cooked perfectly and was a suitably large portion. It was accompanied by exactly one hushpuppy and a side of very excellent fries. Everyone agreed that the fries were most excellent. But as good as my meal was, my dinner companions were less enthused. One opined that the shrimp dinner was unenlightened. Another thought that the hamburger was really poor. Overall, the decor was interesting but the noise level was so loud that conversation was pretty much impossible.
