Love this place. Best Carne Asada burrito in the city. Open 24 hours very authentic Mexican food.

My relocated San Diego friends told me this was the real deal like the taco shops in SD. They were right! Yum-Rolled tacos, carne asada burrito, bean burrito. Free chips and salsa while you wait! I'll be back for sure.

I've tried it again a few times since my last review at it seems as though it's not consistent, unfortunately.

I was a bit shy about eating from one of the many new Mexican joints that have popped up in the last year but I decided to give thrm a try. I'M SO GLAD I DID. Upon walking in, i noticed the dining room was clean. Good start. I moved to the counter to place my order. I was greeted by a friendly cashier who helped me through their large menu. The menu is so big you can eat there everyday for a month and not get the same dish. I decided on the California burrito which I was familiar with from Elena's (See Elena's review). It's filled with carne asada, pico de gallo, guacamole, cheese and French fries. My companion opted to get the French fry version of my burrito (Carne asada fries). Everything is made to order so it took about 7 minutes to get my burrito. I helped myself to the free chips and salsa from their salsa bar. The tortilla chips were made in-store and there were about four different salsas offered along with sliced limes and pickled jalapeños, carrots and onions. The salsas ranged from a green mild salsa to a hot red salsa. My wait was not wasted. When i got my burrito the tortilla was toasted and fresh (I'm not sure if they make their own tortillas). The carne asada was tender and flavorful. The guacamole tasted pre-made and was too smooth for my taste. The pico was perfect. I enjoyed my overall experience and will be back often.

INCREDIBLE BAJA STYLE MEXICAN FOOD IN MEMPHIS!! Instantly recognizing the Filiberto's taco logo from my time spent around the Phoenix area, I decided to pop in for lunch on a whim. I didn't really know what to expect or how it would compare to the other **berto's restaurants that dominate the San Diego burrito scene. So what did I think? OMG, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in this city--and I've already dropped a couple of 5-star reviews on other places. Filiberto's, however, takes the cake BY FAR!! Let me break it down in layman's terms for the casual Yelper looking for a great food experience: (1) Absolutely the BEST CARNE ASADA BURRITOS in town! For those that are not familiar with Cali-style burritos, a carne asada burrito has no rice, beans, lettuce, cheese, or sour cream. Rather, it is loaded with about 1 1/2 pounds of marinated steak (diced), pico de gallo, and guacamole...and it is meant to be picked up and eaten with your hands, so there is no sauce on top. Again, this is not Tex-Mex, Michoacan, Guadalajaran, or Veracruz-style Mexican food. This is serious Baja-Mex, and it is THE BOMB! One bite into my delectable baby-sized burrito, and I was instantly flashing back to the West Coast. Yes, it was that good. (2) CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!! My burrito was less than 6 bucks. Yes, a 2 pound burrito for under $6. Unreal. That is more than $3 CHEAPER than Elena's Taco Shop on the corner of Summer and Raleigh LaGrange (which is also very good, by the way). My chicken taco (also incredible) was under $2. And when I finished my meal of pure awesomeness, I was given a flyer with additional Filiberto's coupons, one of which advertises a pollo asado burrito for 3 bucks (limit 3)! Yes..totally legit $3 burritos that weigh about 2 pounds. I am definitely coming back...SOON. (3) OPEN 24 HOURS. Wut-wut? You read that correctly. Get your Mexi munchies on anytime, 7 days a week. (4) DRIVE-THRU. Say no more. (5) FREE, SELF-SERVE CHIPS. Yep, that's right. Take as many hot, freshly salted tortilla chips to accompany your rockin' taco, burrito, or rolled tacos. (6) SALSA BAR. At least 4 different delicious salsas to dabble with. The green tomatillo salsa is off the chain. Oh, and don't forget to grab a cup full of hot carrots while you're at it. (7) PRO-MILITARY. Yeah, I know some people won't care about this, but if you show your military ID, you get an ADDITIONAL 15% OFF your already cheap, delicious order. Can't beat that. For all the aforementioned reasons, Filiberto's is a restaurant that you MUST HAVE in your regular rotation. Memphis people, I can't implore you enough to PUH-LEASE patronize this place and keep its doors open. It's only been there since late July, but give Filiberto's a try...I promise you will love it!!

We at Memphis are lucky to have some of the best taquerias in the state. But we do not have any Baja style Mexican fast food chain until Filiberto's opened up a couple of months ago. You could actually order a carne asada burrito with no rice or beans. Just Pico de gallo and guacamole sauce. Then wrapped in a large flour tortilla and it is so darn good!! This place is just like the Roberto's, a popular fast food Mexican fast food chain in Southern California, Beware of the salsas, they have three types. Hot, hotter, fiery; no mild!! The food are pretty good and brings back memory in my earlier years I have spent in San Diego. This place is also open 24 hours a day like Mc Donald's and it is wallet friendly. So come and try this type of "Mexican food". It is quite different from the norm.

Food was good and reasonably priced. It's an old fast food restaurant. Not the cleanest place but the staff was in process of cleaning it. Evidently is a chain from Arizona. The California Burrito is very large. Not a bad place.

Maybe I missed something but we didn't think it was that good. Its an old Burger King and you order the same way. You get your own drinks and have to get your own chips and salsas. Kinda a pain in the ass. For the money they charge you can go to a sit down full service Mexican restaurant. We had a beef chimichanga, two beef tacos, rice, beans, and a chiles rellenos. The tacos were ok but nothing special and very greasy. The chile was ok but cold and soggy. The chimichanga looked good and was hot when it came out. My dad said it was just ok. The salsas off the bar were good but nothing special. The pickled jalapeño and onion had a weird flavor and the onion and carrot were ok but nothing special. All in all if this is top notch Cali style as other reviews say I'll have to pass. There is much better Mexican food to be had in town. It wasn't bad but it just wasn't anything that good either.

So have you said to yourself...man I'm tired of bbq and I want to try something equally delicious...well wait no further come and get a carne asada burrito or carne asada fries just like California! Absolutely a slice of Mexico in Memphis! Enjoy!

Well this place is somewhat in a decent area of town. It's a former Burger King I do believe which is somewhat odd for Mexican fast food. The food is somewhat better than average for paying for quality. It's more expensive than Taco Bell but hey you get unlimited chips from what I saw. The burrito I got which was the carne steak burrito which was pretty big. They definitely need to put sticker info on the salsa station. Overall it's s decent option for lunch. It's a 2nd option if going to Elena tacos is too far. I will be going back to try it out.

I got the usual that I always get at most any Mexican restaurant I go to ( polo feliz) it wasn't even on the menu but after describing it to the gentleman behind the counter he knew what I was talking about and he made it for me anyways. They do NOT stiff you on meat like most places does, they really give you your money's worth. They are also open 24 hours, yes that's right all night long.

Just visited filbertos it's 4am on Saturday morning. There are employees inside but the dining room is not open and neither is the drive up. We drove across town to get here.... To say I'm disappointed would be a huge understatement.

Filiberto's has some mixed reviews but I still decided to give it a try. It was Sunday night and the place was empty, but looked clean. The service was fast but the food was not good at all. First off, none of the salsas at the salsa bar were spicy. One of the green salsas tasted old, like it had turned bad. I ordered the carne asada fries and they were nothing like the ones at Elenas Taco Shop. The fries were ok but the carne asada was dry and the guacamole tasted like pure onion. My boy friend had the three rolled tacos plate and it was awful. The rolled tacos were too hard to eat, the rice was mushy, and the beans were from a can. I won't be giving this place a second try.

Originally being from Cali, I can honestly say this is legit Mexican food at legit prices. A friend told me about this place and her having spent some time in San Diego due to military ties, I thought she knows real Mexican food and boy was she right. The food is fabulous. The same week we ate there for the first time, we ended up going back there 3 times that week. And they serve Horchata, not the store mix but the OG stuff. Most Mexican restaurants in the South don't even have a clue of what Horchata is? Yesterday being Thursday, we went to El Mezacal, they only serve Horchata on Friday, Saturday, Sunday :( and sorry to say the food was very bland. My husband said, "were spoiled by Filoberto's now," and he is so right. It's not the prettiest place, it's an old Burger King facility, but what matters is the food. And if there's one thing I've learned from being from Cali it's the whole in the walls that serve the best food w/unbelievable prices. They have several lunch specials that include an entrée, side and medium drink for $5. There chile verde is kicked up a notch, but it's exactly how it's suppose to taste, lots of wonderful flavors that dance in your mouth. And everyone who has already mentioned the carne asada, are correct it doesn't get more authentic then there's. If, were going out for Mexican for now on it will be at Filobertos. Muy Bien!!! P.S. I always try to take pics when I do reviews on Yelp, but the food is so good here that I eat it, finish it and then remember oops forgot to take a pic. Or, that could just be an excuse so that I keep getting to go back and eat, even though I know once the order is up I don't have patience or time to take a pic because I'm ready to devour my food ;)

Excellent Mexican food some of the best I've had in Memphis very tasty my favorite is the green chili which is very spicy and the two carnitas burrito it's enough that you will have leftovers for tomorrow very tasty. The store doesn't look like much from you outside but inside is very clean brightly lit. Did I mention it's open 24 hours and serves breakfast

I had been waiting patiently for Filiberto's on Covington Pike in Memphis, TN to open. I read a review how tasteless the food was but I decided to try it myself; I ordered #5 two Enchiladas and a Beef taco on the side. The plate looks just like the picture once you remove the pile of old lettuce. The review I read said the food was tasteless; the enchiladas, dab of beans and rice I had were bland tasteless. There was no seasoning at all; salt didn't help. The enchiladas are stuffed with onions. The taco shell was crispy; the meat in the taco was also bland tasteless. I only paid $10.00 for the meal that mostly ended up in the trash. This was my second visit; on my first visit I was the only one there and no one was up front. A couple minutes later someone with a headset on came from the back went to drive thru window and started taking orders. I am standing there for almost five minutes before I left. I should've stayed gone. Good luck on your visit.

The floors were clean and the food was great. I did not know this place was a franchise. The staff was friendly and helpful with the menu. The decorations were appropriate and informative. The tables need a cleaning but there was plenty of room. I will be back because my chicken chimichanga was delicious.

Mexican restaurants are popping up everywhere like McDonald's! Every neighborhood these days have a spot near that sells mexican food. I'm a fan of Mexican food....can't eat it every day, but I do enjoy every now and then. I stumbled upon this place driving down Covington pike months ago. I was very excited that they were open 24/7, have a drive-thru, and the food was good. They also have a sauce bar with veggies. This is a chain restaurant that comes from the west coast (I believe...California or Arizona or Texas lol...I forgot). Things have changed about this place. From what I've seen, not enough customers...24/7 have changed to weekends only. The food is good, but they give entirely too much....who complains about too much food????!!! Yes, that somebody is me. Gordon Ramsey from Food Network should go there and critique the portions given. I think that people should give this place a try.....

Fresh made to order. I have never purchased anything that was not good. Love the Torta, Cowboys fries and California burritos. The young girls that work the registers aren't as friendly and custumer friendly as the males, but I don't go for the service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
