Made a trip here in May and had a blast. The Lodge is great - awesome views of the mountains, clean spacious rooms and the service here was awesome. Secluded and makes you feel like you are far away from everything. We had a first floor room with a deck off the back which made for a nice place to retreat after spending all day in the park. Room had a living area with TV and Fireplace, Small Kitchen, Large bath area and bedroom was large. Only thing I would change would be to get a room on one of the upper floors - better view. Had breakfast here a few mornings - was never crowded and did not need any reservations. Dinner however was a different story. Made reservations the first night there and had a really good meal. Tried to walk in a few nights later without a reservation and was told it would be two hours. . . . make reservations if you are planning on eating here for Dinner. The views from the deck are great - especially during breakfast while the sun is rising. Just a great place to stay - very close to the park and just far enough out of Gatlinburg to escape the theme park atmosphere of downtown Gatlinburg. Easy 5 Stars.

Quite a lot going for them, but they lack of friendliness is pretty high. John was far from polite, and the service in the restaurant was very hit or miss. First night's waitress was rather rude, the breakfast server was cold but still earned points for treating our 2 year old well. The rooms were great, and the views were amazing. For this area, I can't imagine much better digs, but just be ready for less-than-people pleasing attitudes. Also, be aware that there is NOTHING in the area that is open after about 8pm. Its a windy road down to the main area of town, and though its not far, its to far to run out for a bottle of wine, for example. Plan ahead, and enjoy.

Amazing place!! Can't say enough good things about this place! Views are breathtaking. We came in early June with our 2 kids. (Ages 8 & 10). The room was spacious and beautiful. We had 2 balconies overlooking the smokies. We had a room on the highest floor. Breakfast was wonderful. It was great after spending our day at dollywoood/alpine coaster/zip lining/horseback riding...to come to this little piece of heaven, enjoy the view with a nice glass of wine.

I am so happy we chose the Buckberry Lodge for our stay in Gatlinberg! The drive from the downtown area is only about 10 mins and you are away from the touristy part of Gatlinberg in the beautiful mountains! We stayed in July from Monday to Thursday. The room was gorgeous and only $209 a night which was a steal for all the amenities. Had a super comfy and clean bed, sitting area with fireplace, flat screen tv, balcony, fully stocked kitchen and a HUGE bathroom with a jetted tub. I was surprised to find a robe in the closet too which was a nice touch. The views were beautiful from our room but slightly blocked cause the room next to us stuck out further but it was still really pretty. There is a free continental breakfast which was just ok, nothing to be excited about, but the view from the main lodge is so pretty that you almost forget that the breakfast is just so-so. Staff was really friendly and helpful. One thing I would recommend is to ask for a third floor room cause it can get noisy. There were children in the room above us and they seemed to never stop running back and forth and we heard every step they took. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to see the Smokeys without wanting to be in the middle of the craziness of downtown Gatlinberg. After being on the go all day it was nice to settle down in our lovely room and chilling by the fireplace with our pretty view.

Great hideaway from the gaudiness of downtown Gatlinburg. Beautiful property. Great service. Our room had an epic view of Mount Le Conte and we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony listening to the nightly sounds. Also the cookies they leave on the bed are pretty tasty. Jacuzzi tub was a plus after a long day of hiking. Only one complaint: the room above us sounded as if a herd of elephants were above us. Tip: If you want to sleep in, ask for a top floor room

Love this Lodge !! Arrived yesterday, great unit #5303, Breakfast in the main lodge was very nice, The staff are awesome, really very nice, will answer any questions about the area, Kyle stayed on the phone to give us directions when we were lost on our way in. We are having dinner here at the Lodge tomorrow night, if you come here make your reservation for dinner on arrival, they get booked up. Today we are driving today through the Great Smoky Mountains Natl Park, 11 mile loop of beautiful we are told !!

Buddy, Staff, & other owners, My wife and I had the privilege of staying On your property from Feb. 26 - March 1st and we had the best trip of our lives. What an exquisite property and most amazing staff! We felt at home from the moment we checked in until the second we sadly had to checkout. Buddy, you have done an amazing job at providing an experience that stands out above the rest. You have cultivated that in your staff and personnel. Nely and I were there for our anniversary and you took the time to greet us and invite us for drinks, which was very much appreciated. Furthermore, Scott is such an amazing employee. I have never encountered someone who is as dedicated to providing superb service, while still maintaining a positive attitude. I watched him each day hustling through the lobby and dining area, making sure everything was meticulously done with excellence. Overall, I have nothing but amazing things to say. Every person was pleasant and the property, as well as our room was top notch. We will be sure to return and bring the entire family. I have already been telling all of our family and friends about the Lodge at Buckberry Creek. Thank you all so very much for providing the Henderson's with the best anniversary trip of our lives. Keep up the good work!

Fantastic lodge. Pricey but not stuffy. You definitely have to pay a little extra to get what you want in Gatlinburg. Lodging is comfortable, clean, and roomy. Fantastic views of Mt Laconte and the rest of the park. Dinner is a little more than the priciest restaurants on the strip but you avoid the parking hassles, avoid the crowds, and the food is actually excellent. I can't stand paying a lot for crap like you often do on the strip. Staff are very friendly. Breakfast is included and very tasty. Full kitchens in the rooms. They will make an excellent box lunch for around $20 to take into the park. We will definitely stay again.

Have to give this place 5 big stars, I work as a server in the fine dinning industry and this place exceeds your expectations and though pricy it's very affordable to what I've seen other places charge for such quality and fantastic service and hospitality. Our fist time dining and staying in the smoky mountains. We will defiantly return on our next getaway.

I can't say anything negative about this place expect, that during our 5 day stay our phone never worked. It was taken by maintenance to get fixed and wasnt returned till our 3rd night and still didnt work but oh well... other than that this place is breath taking but a little pricey. They have movies you can check out , board games, cards, etc... The staff was super friendly and always helpful. The lodge is well maintained and the rooms are clean. Best part of the lodge...the VIEW... it is amazing. Very romantic and scenic. We woke up one morning to fox prints outside of our balcony and we were able to catch a glimpse of the critter. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to get away and enjoy nature.

We love it here. We have spent three anniversary's at the Lodge. We ask for the same room every time we go....a large separate bedroom, a kitchenette, and a family room with working wood fireplace.....and a large porch to enjoy some coffee on!! Our room was filled with rustic decor....and leather chairs..... The view is wonderful of the mountains! And, you are only a 10 minute drive from Gatlinburg. We usually spend one evening in the restaurant and have had nothing but great food!! Ask to sit on the porch in the corner table....the view is spectacular. Hint: Ask them to drive you down to the creek in their military vehicle....it's worth the trip, and most of the time you will be alone :) They can drop you off and come back in an hour is you ask.....we take always bottle of wine and have them start a fire.....and just love the sound of the creek..... The perfect place for a little romance!

A total foodees paradise. Our arrival was interesting driving up the twisty mountain road and viewing the remarkable landscape of the Smokies. The entrance to the restaurant was not clearly marked, however we were greeted with good ole southern charm and just welcomed like family you haven't seen in a long while. This vacation was a complete surprise to my wife in which we were celebrating our anniversary. We were seated out on this remarkable porch/deck in which we saw this magnificent panoramic view of the mountains. We were promptly greeted by our server with a friendly and charismatic flare. Our family ordered beverages. We ordered a bottle sparkling wine which was very good with a slight sweetness yet a refreshing snap to it. We ordered our starters. My youngest ordered the artisan cheese platter and said it was very tasty. She commented that the combination of fruit, cheese and crackers tasted great. Our 17 year old daughter ordered the homemade spice chips with blue cheese dipping sauce. She let me have a bite and for such a simple dish it was excellent. My wife ordered the spinach salad and said it was tasty. I ordered the filet sliders. They were so tender and flavorful. The cheese and filet combination were so good they would make your tongue slap your brains out. For our main course the youngest ordered the North Carolina Trout, our 17 year old daughter ordered the filet mignon, my wife and I had the Shrimp and Grits with Andouille Sausage. All the entrees where extremely tasty and of nice portion size. For dessert they offered four desserts and it was wicked cool that we each ordered a different dessert. Everyone said they were great. I had the warm chocolate cake with melted chocolate inside and a scoop on ice cream. The service was top notch but our server did have a hard time remembering limes for my sparkling water. No big deal as her service for the evening was spot on. Go with your wallet full as it was not cheap. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. As I always say "Cheap food is not good and good food is not cheap". Bon appetite!

When we walked in the door, the moldy, musty smell of mildew smacked me in the face. Then we heard the people walking above us, and it sounded like a herd of elephants due to the lack of soundproofing. The lady at the front desk said because they are a totally wood hotel (which they aren't) they can't soundproof. I looked around the bathroom and saw bath towels, but there were no hand towels or washcloths, so I had to call and request them. They have no vending machines so I had to walk uphill to the front desk to get a soda, for which they charged me $3.00 and even charged me .33 tax because they added it to the room bill. What irked me the most was the disparity between their online rates and telephone rates. We got a rate of $225 a night, while our friends had to pay $386 a night, plus an additional $70 to share the room with 2 more people. It was barely worth $225, and certainly not worth $386 a night. Don't think we'll go back.

Beautiful lodge away from the gaudiness of Gatlinburg and just a few minutes to the park entrance at sugarlands visitor center. Our only issue was that our room had two full beds and both my husband and I are tall so the beds were not very comfy. Which is in total contrast to everything else which was very comfy and well appointed (dishes in kitchen, fridge, great comfy sofa and chairs, etc). Breakfast is served in the main house and the continental breakfast that comes with the room is great for kids.

Much to my disappointment things were not the same as the first time. We still had a decent time but just not the same service. :0( I was told that we would have the same fabulous view as before but they put us in the smallest room they had. It had a small almost shared balcony from a grand ste.(They also knew that it was our anniversary.) When they did move us to the rooms at the top of the hill we dodged a constant attack from a wood boar (A Big Huge Bee ! )You can actually see the sawdust and hole from this bee all over our balcony. The pillows to the bed kept sliding between the wooden headboard and the mattress. We kept having to pull them up from between the wall and headboard. On our last night they put an entire family above us so we got to listen to kids songs from their open windows while on the balcony with running footsteps across the floor. (ROMANTIC.... LOL) The server also seemed a bit down the nose at us as he served us. Quite a bit different from our previous dining experience in September with a cheerful brunette lady. After the $800.00 + bill for just a few days I have to say I was a disheartened that our anniversary didn't have the same cheerful exuberance. For the price they had no pool or extras to justify the money that it cost us. In the lack of personalized service I have to leave a follow up for those of you who expect the truth. I want to help guide people in a quest for quality their hard earned money should bring them. In a time when money is tight for most. Time away for special moments are more precious than ever !!! You may want to rethink this not so specialized experience. My apologies to this lodge. Hopefully if they research all that I have said they will know what they need to fix for their future clients to bring back the level of service deserving of such a wonderful looking establishment. I do wish them the best of luck !!!

BEAUTIFUL views. Nicely appointed rooms. And very friendly staff. The one-room suite we had faced the woods instead of the mountains, but it was still very comfortable.

My partner and I booked 2 nights at this Lodge. We were both surprised at how beautiful it was. Better than the photos even! Its like an old style forest lodge only many attentions to details like pine cones set in fireplaces and lots of birch bark on every surface. Who ever designed and built this place did an excellent job. It's really amazing. One of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed at. Views/Food- The views are something else as well. We ate breakfast and had dinner on the deck with sweeping view of the mountains! Amazing. Provided breakfast is very basic. Dinner is too expensive for what you get. $32 entrees? A $12 piece of cake for dessert? I think not. Bring your own food or plan on the long trip down the mountain for meals. The rooms are fully equipped with everything to cook with. Rooms - The rooms were very nice. Had a beautiful porch for sitting and amazing views. Fluffy bathrobes added a nice touch. Lots of Tazo teas were provided as well. There was firewood in the fireplace with some fire starter and a lighter each night! We made a fire and really enjoyed that. Overall quite nice. The TV's however are old!!! What? No flat screen TV's? This is 2013 not 1990! and the reception was terrible. The MAJOR downside! No WiFi! The room we were in had NO WiFi signal. I called the front desk and the maintenance man showed up and said he would reset the router. He said he didn't know anything about those "new fangled" devices. This is 2013 isn't it? As it turns out, its not the router. It's the fact that the WiFi was not installed properly and there is NO Way for the signal to reach our room. I went to the front desk and they were disinterested about the issue. WiFi is NOT a luxury. It is a NECESSITY in this day and age. I would expect this at a Motel 6 and certainly at any so-called luxury lodge. If the toilette wasn't working they would fix it. Fix your WiFi issues! I am giving them an AVERAGE on service because of the WiFi issue. Service means saying "I will find out what the problem is and the resolution and get back to you" not "We've had issues, I don't know what to say". Duh WiFi issues aside. A nice place. Just don't plan on doing business or watching movies on your iPad or computer in the rooms! There is NO WiFi!

My husband, son and I have been planning our Thanksgiving Holiday vacation all summer. We always look for THE best places to stay whenever we go on vacation. We booked our vacation late Sept at this lodge expecting some of the same things we saw in reviews. NOT! As my teenage son said after arriving. The 26$ strawberries we ordered were ruined, brown and covered with some of the nastiest chocolate we have ever tasted. The beds weren't much bigger than twin size and we all tossed all night long. The TVs were from 1940 as were the appliances. The bathroom floor squeaked every time you took a step. The shower tile was falling off. And to TOP it all off the whole entire unit behind us burned just 3 weeks before we arrived!!! Where I come from being a real estate broker it's against the law to NOT inform a future guest of detriments of that sort in case THEY MAY WANT TO FIND A SAFER & BETTER PLACE TO PUT THEIR FAMILY FOR A WEEK?!?!! Do NOT waste your 250$ to 290$ a night on this crap hole!!!

We spent nine days/nights here in September. Highly recommend if you want a place with great service, quite and beautiful. The on-site resaurant is closed Sunday & Monday. Food is excellent. A complimentary breakfast was included with our stay, but I suggest ordering of the breakfast menu. Do make reservations if you plan to go for dinner. The lodge is approx. 2-3 miles (up the hill) from Sugarland Visitor Center at Smoky Mountain National Park. Stop in at Smokey's at the bottom of the hill for a great burger & brew.

I can't say enough good things about The Lodge At Buckberry Creek. From the beginning, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were on a month long vacation from California, and this room was by far, the best accommodations we had on the whole trip. We had a big room with a king size bed in the bedroom, and our daughter slept on a comfortable pull out bed in the living room. We had a kitchen with a dishwasher, huge bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and two sinks, and two balconies with a fantastic view. We also had two large flat screen televisions. We joked that the rooms were bigger than our first apartment. But what we will always remember about this Lodge is the following. During our stay, a big storm came through the area and a Tornado warning was issued. Being from California, we know about earthquakes, but very little about a Tornado. We, of course, were very concerned. The staff tried to encourage the hotel visitors to come down to the lobby, so that we could be informed of what was happening. The staff was very comforting and informative. They kept us aware of the latest weather information. We were told that if it got serious, we would all go down into the cellar. The staff brought out tea and coffee. It almost felt like a party. For this, I am grateful to the Lodge. We would definitely go back to the Lodge at Buckberry Creek, but unfortunately we live too far away. I almost forgot, the cookies on our bed each day were delicious.

We thought the lodge and restaurant were great. It rained the whole time we were there but I didn't care. I was there to enjoy the view and the plush surroundings with my girlfriend. The food and the service at the restaurant were top-notch. We loved the lodge, bees and all, and were thrilled that there was no swimming pool. We intended to have a peaceful vacation in a natural setting and that is exactly what we had.
