The Greenbrier sits on a quiet mountainside over looking Gatlinburg. Indeed, at night, one looks down on the colorful lights and lower-level streets traveled in part to reach the restaurant. The building is rustic, in the sense that it is old and of heavy, traditional wood construction. Carol and I were seated at one end of the building with a nice view outside through floor-to-ceiling glass. It was quiet at first, but a family with two children was seated across from us. One child was quiet. The other was not. While we wished that the family had been seated in the central section along with larger, somewhat-louder parties, we realize that this was also luck of the draw, with the restaurant have no way to predict the child's volume. We both started with large garden salads that were good. Carol had plenty left to take with her, but the waitress - who was knowledgeable and attentive - made her a fresh salad with a side container of dressing to go. Carol had pork medallions stuffed with apple and walnuts. They were sweet and tender. I had pasta alfredo with slices of grilled chicken. The alfredo sauce was billed as being made by the restaurant, which it surely was. However, it was not a traditional parmesan alfredo, but more a creme sauce. It tasted well nonetheless. We shared a chocolate eruption desert, which reminded a bit of cheese cake but was lighter - and enjoyable. We were able to bookend some quiet time together at our table when the neighboring family left after a fairly quick meal. Notes for wheelchair users: The leading edge of a concrete ramp at the parking lot, leading up to the restaurant, had a lip of at least 1 inch. Several thresholds, at the front door, and elsewhere through the building were passable-but-bumpy. The passage to our table was through the kitchen - not our first such journey. It contained a steep ramp down to the dining level. For many, the ramp should be taken backward because of the sharp angle. By the way, the kitchen was hot - the cold night air had no effect. The hostess was helpful in guiding Carol through the restaurant with her wheelchair. Everyone on the staff was helpful-and-kind.

Nice dimly lit restaurant with a lot of windows for a nice view. The service was great and the New York strip was heavenly!

Went here on our honeymoon. I think we were overdressed, it's actually pretty casual but it was a nice place. The building itself is really neat. Not bad to find, way up on a hill out of town a little and overlooking a big hill with tons of trees. Very beautiful setting. We both ordered fish, I had the flounder and my husband had the cajun (or similar - I can't remember the exact name) tilapia. Both of our meals were excellent. Mine came with soup, the special that day was a New Orleans soup that I'd never had, onion something. It was very good. It also came with cooked veggies, and they were out of this world good! My husband got a baked potato and salad with his and said it was all very good. Prices were decent, maybe a little high but you're paying for ambiance and pleasant service. We would definitely be back! And recommend it if you're looking for non-chain local cuisine with a view!

My husband and had dinner at Greenbriar and it was very enjoyable time. Food was excellent and the service was fantastic. The view was good and background music pleasant. If we should return to the area, we would go again

Took my wife here once for our anniversary and we both really liked it. View is SPECTACULAR - especially since it was snowing when we were there. Food was very good and selection was pretty varied. I don't believe in them - but they have a ghost and anyone there will tell you all about it. I've talked to two different tourists who swore they took photos of the ghost and promised to email me copies but they never did. It's a neat little place, service is real good, and food is good too.

This was our first time at Greenbrier. A friend had recommended it and had told us to go early, so we were there when it opened. The atmosphere is casual, yet elegant. The server was attentive, knowledgeable, and affable. The meal and drinks made for a great experience. When we return to Gatlinburg, we will definitely be returning to Greenbrier.

Not to shabby! The food was good, but a little over priced. However, it was nice to be able to sit down and have a quiet conversation over dinner rather than noise and neon!

The food and service was amazing. Everything was the way we ordered and cooked. It's not very kid friendly. It's mostly for couples. Very romantic. The place was cute but the duck tape on the ground was very tacky. Definitely needs a remodel. The view into the forest was gorgeous. It opens at 430 and the prices are a little high. Overall a great place for couples, great food and service.

What a refreshing break from the Gatlinburg "strip". Really nice people, quite, forested mountain view, and good food. I had the stuffed shrimp special, the hubby had the Alfredo- we were happy with both.

My husband and I decided to try Greenbrier because we wanted to have a nice dinner, and we read the good reviews posted here. Going in, our expectations were high. However, nothing we ate at this restaurant lived up to any of these reviews. We were seated next to the fireplace, and almost immediately our waitress came to take our drink order when we did not even have a chance to look at the wine menu. She seemed to be slightly frazzled because they had also just sat a "10 top" in her section. She came back a little later to take our drink orders (again), and we ordered the appetizer. We were finished with our appetizer before we received our drinks, and when we got our wine, it was not what we ordered. We ate the mushrooms stuffed with crab for an appetizer, and the mushrooms were highly over cooked. The bread that was brought to our table was wrapped in a white paper napkin (doesn't exactly scream nice restaurant to me), and we are sure it was not prepared in house. At best, it was stuck in a microwave for a few seconds before being brought to our table. Our entree was not any better, and we decided to skip dessert. Overall, it was just simply not worth it. And it was definitely not worth the $80 bill at the end of the night.

Agree with the good reviews get the prime rib it was excellent you'll be glad you did Don't give up in finding the place it's kind of tucked away up a hill my husband and I almost turned around thinking we were at the Psycho hotel in a horror movie since it was cold dark and blustery evening but glad we saw the sign and ate dinner. We will be back next time we come here.

We had heard of this place and we wanted to try it. So of course my said we were going to dinner here. The restaurant is kinda tucked out of the way on top of a ridge. Then when you enter the restaurant you see the fantastic view from the windows and of course I asked to be seated by the window. After we were seated we ordered our drinks and studied the menu. So we ordered our food which then arrived about 20 mins. later and everything looked yummy. I will say the food was delicious my wife had the prime rib and I my self had a T bone steak. Usually I don't have a drink after dinner but on this day and with this view I had a nice after dinner drink. And as others have said in their reviews they are a bit high on prices, but to me it was worth it with the view it offers. But the wait staff was very nice and friendly and tended to our every need, so I can't ask for much more than that. And I will be back..

Sorry to say the meal we had at your restaurant tonight was the worst expensive meal we've ever had. We checked out your menu, figured with the prices, the food would be great. We had escargot and fried lobster apps. The escargot was fine, the fried lobster should have been served with something other than melted butter (possible a honey Dijon). For our main entree we had a prime rib and a prime rib and lobster. The salad that comes with the entree was a step down from what is served at Red Lobster with a $10 meal. The prime rib was not even warm and had almost no flavor at all ( obviously a reheat, not a fresh rib). The twice bakes were also leftovers from another day. The Lobster did not even have a sprinkle of paprika. It was a $125 horrible meal. We did not raise a big stink with the server, there were lots of other customers around and we weren't going to make a scene, besides it wasn't her fault. My husband ate the lobster and we tried to eat the prime rib but left 3/4s of it on the plate with the bakes. Having been in the food business for many years and now owning our own business, I could not just leave with out some sort of recourse. Hopefully you will checkout who was cooking tonight and maybe prepare them the same meal we had and make them eat it. If it was the owner, shame on you. Dena Frost Mexico Beach, FL
