Oscar’s Taco Shop Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I'm kinda obsessed with this Oscar's. You see, it's right down the street from my work, and since I only get 30 minutes for lunch (welcome to the world of elementary education), there are rare chances for food outside of brown bag and cafeteria delights. So, I love Oscar's. Once or twice a month, I will round up order requests from teachers, assistants, custodians, etc., make a call, drive up the street, and be back, eating delicious tacos in less than 15 minutes. THIS makes for a happy school. Many of the taco places I go to are tasty but SOOO greasy.. not the case with Oscar's. The meat isn't, nor are the tortillas. The chips are even light, to me. My faves are the chicken and the fish tacos. Other regular orders I place are for Asada tacos, shrimp quesadillas, and carnitas. My other faves are their small guacamole (not on the menu), the breakfest burrito of eggs, cheese, chorizo, and papas. And a new discovery of the California burrito, which is also really great. (The burritos are HUGE.. like HUGE HUGE. I think I've finished one in one sitting, once.) I really like their chips and their salsa, but you buy them individually, and they are pricey. I wish they opened early enough to get a breakfast burrito on the way in to work.. and that they were open on Sundays. They are open 9-9, Monday thru Saturday.

Two things I instantly disliked about this place. One, the abundance of disposable cutlery, plastics and Styrofoam. Two, the abundance of food that many people were clearly chucking into the trash can. This place might have good food (sadly, not even a good Chile Rollenos or Huevos Rancheros) but I cannot fathom a place that treats food suchly. I got the veggie enchilada and my hair turned white by the time I was done. My friend got the salad bowl and, without doubt, a pelican could have nested in it with room for one of its teenagers from its previous clutch to bunk. It is insane the quantity that Oscar's Taco shop gives away for you to throw into its overflowing trash can. I am not a fan.

Excellent tacos. When I get done working in the Franklin area, this is the place I will miss the most. The carnitas is some of the best I have had outside Puerto Rico.

Disappointing... Three meals ...all tough and dry ....filling adequate but dried out. Not expensive but lacking quality.

My boss is from Southern California and recommended this amazing taco shop. THE BEST tacos in Nashville and nothing even close to Bluecoast/Moe's/Baja. It's so delicious and authentic. Please try the beef tostada and shredded beef tacos and you will not be let down. It's a popular spot so there will be a wait, but it is well worth it! OSCARS! Please open a location on music row or closer into Nashville!

We love to go here! Really like the food. Good price, friendly staff. Near our house. What's not to like? No brainier easy dinner.

I was surprised at how good the Fajitas were at Oscars! Initially I was turned off because the portions are served on paper plates and I was used to the full on "skillet 'o steak". But they were very well seasoned and they give you a good amount for your dollar. The Tortilla's are gigantic! They give you three, but they were so big I ended up tearing them into thirds. Keep in mind that its not a fine dining experience, but the food we sampled was really good and I left quite happy with my meal. Also, they are open at 9 AM, so if you are looking for a breakfast Burrito, it would seem they want to be your place

I have ordered to go a couple of times from this restaurant. Both times they did get my order wrong. First time i tried to explain to them that i wanted chopped tomato and lettuce on the side. I ordered a beef burrito. They gave me a veggie burrito with no meat and everything on it. Tried to take it back and they said," Sorry mam, cannot take it back, already paid for". The next visit i ordered again a meat beef burrito with a side of beans and rice. Wanted a side item of lettuce and tomato. They gave me a burrito with all the above on it. I did look at the order before i left. Tried to explain to them that they had it wrong. Was tired of arguing with them about the problem, so I went ahead and bought the burrito. The cost was 10$ that they charged me for one burrito. I will not be back. The worst service i have ever had.

Lunch time surprise, small, 7 tables standing room only, no outside seating. So come early or late for a sure seat. We ordered to go but would stay if table opened. Our day . Short wait got our drinks and a table opens. The place is a revolving door for food in order out the door. We ordered the two taco dinner comes with beans & rice. Fish tacos and Carnitas, can you say say play it again Sam? I don't have words to describe, yum, mum, yum, ohh taco's so good. Beans good nothing to complain about, rice was good liked the flavor. A two . Order at bar, friendly, good service. If you like tacos order one of each, Happy Meal from South of the Border!

Coming from San Diego/LA, this is the closest thing out here in TN!

I absolutely love this place. Being from California, I know real Mexican food and this is it! Their al pastor is incredible and it hits the spot every time. The staff is friendly and always really on top of keeping the customers happy. This is my go to Mexican restaurant and I'm so happy it's just right down the street from my home and work.

Truly like anything you would get in Southern California! This place is fantastic!!! The chicken tacos are fantastic. Chips and salsa excellent. Fish tacos are always fresh. This is our go to place when we want fresh tacos. Don't judge it by the exterior... The place is exceptionally clean and well run. Highly recommended!!!

  • Liz J.

The quality is good here. The atmosphere is a little cold, and I feel the prices are a little high for what you get. There are better options. Also wish they didn't charge for Chips and salsa, but I guess because I am not used to that. most places do not charge $3-5 for chips and salsa.

This place was amazing! We just moved here, and this will definitely be a "regular" for our family. The customer service was excellent too!!

Yes, it is a taste of SoCal in middle Tennessee. Having just moved to Franklin from LA, I was pleased to find this unpretentious taco shop. While the building is not particularly inviting, the food definitely is. Small seating area is overshadowed by big flavors. Freshly made "Mixed Burrito" filled with shredded beef, bell pepper, onions, & beans was mildly spiced. Green & red table sauces were just ok - just a hint of heat in the red. Homemade (white) cheese sauce was smooth and flavorful but a bit thin. Chicken enchilada was a nice portion of (again) mild flavors with an apparent hint of unexpected cinnamon. Prices -- absolutely on the mark -- very affordable. (Don't want to use the word cheap here.) Service was congenial, friendly, and informative. Not 5 star dining by any means...but well worth the 4 stars I'm awarding.

  • JoAnna M.

came here from a yelp search, and we were thrilled. just as good as any taco in L. A. plenty of filling. had several kinds, loved the Carne Asada and the fish. didn't like the carnitas as much, but still worth 5 Stars! looking forward to trying more off their menu.

  • Lynne M.

One of my family's favorite restaurants in Franklin! The service is always fast and good. The food is fresh and delicious. Their prices can't be beat in Franklin. Must try: fish taco and shrimp taco. Their guacamole is great too.

A good, cheap Mexican place? I thought those only existed in California... thank you for showing the error of my ways, Oscar's. It's fast, it's cheap, it sells beer and Mexican cokes, and has the best chicken quesadillas I've found in the area. And it's only half a mile from my house. Oh I'm in love! PS- the queso dip is great, not a huge fan of the salsa, and I wouldn't eat there if you're sensitive to heat. They only have one little wall unit a/c for the diners and it is not enough in the summer heat,

    (4)
  • Aaron Kocourek K.

I have eaten here about a dozen times and love this place! I've only ordered the tacos and cheese dip but that is because their tacos are hands down the best I have ever had. If the prices were a little bit cheaper I would eat here much more often.

  • Aaron D.

Friendly service, good prices and a bangin' chicken taco. The filling and the tortillas were all fresh, tender and tasty. I didn't care for the fish taco quite as much, but I think that is more just a matter of me realizing that I'm not a fish taco guy. Next time I'll try the carnitas. I like the bright and cheery yellow benches and the Spanish radio programs. Creates a pleasant, light atmosphere. Wish that Oscar's would open another couple of locations in Brentwood and/or Nashville. (Well, there is a Nashville location on Nolensville road, but how about something in central or western Nashville?)

  • Lyrad V.

You've never had an authentic fish taco until you've been to Oscar's. I have tried fish taco's everywhere searching for the best... and I finally found it. Here at Oscar's. I don't know why I waited so long to try this place. Well, I didn't live in Franklin until this year, but still, I've been in Nashville for eight years and only recently heard about this place. This place puts SATCO to shame and is better than any fish taco you get at a "nicer" sit down tex mex restaurant... probably because this place is actually owned operated by a mexican! This hole in the wall is a hidden gym. I tried a fried fish taco and a chicken taco (made with fajita chicken). Both were succulent and amazing, but the fish tacos are to die for. I love the "special sauce" they put on the fish tacos. The fish taco was so good, I may not ever try anything else on the menu... I'll be getting two fish tacos from now on. But I wanted to try something else on my first trip. Oh, and two tacos is plenty of food... they fill 'em up! Pros: A la carte menu of burritos, tacos, and more. Excellent price/value. Food of course is amazing. Cons: This location only has fried fish (I like fried just fine, but a grilled option would be a plus).

What you say -- There's a mexy place in the Nashville area with an original menu and their very own recipes? You must be lying, because I thought there was a law that they all share the same recipe book and do the same lame thing. Enter Oscars. Their food is good. Looks cheap on the a la carte menu, but that's a little deceiving. Once it all adds up, you could have gone to a good table service restaurant, including the tip. But, then again you might not get as good of a meal. Oscar's is known for their fish taco's. Excellent, just like you'd get at some of San Diego's finest taco shops. I've also had a burrito this size of a truck that was also very good and at least 3 times more food than I should have eaten -- that week. So plan to share. Chips, salsa, guac, queso are all very good. Now that they've opened a Westhaven shop we tend to go there, but the original on Columbia is still a special little hole in the wall.

Cheap, Americanized Mexican food. Fish tacos are great and the tortillas are fresh. Perfect place for quick lunch during the work week.

  • Grace Anne H.

Good every time! I love this place! Veggie burritos, fajitas, nachos, it's all good! They are usually pretty fast but no drive through. It would be wise to call in your order for take out and the go pick it up rather than ordering when you get there.

Fish tacos are a very close runner up to Gulf Coast! Fresh tasting carnitas taco. Can't wait to go back...

10 stars if possible!!!!! We went to the Cool Springs location just based on YELP reviews. Coming from CA, we were DESPERATELY in search of REAL, CA-MEXICAN food in TN and guess what.....WE FOUND IT! Brought home variety of tacos, burritos, nachos and a cheese enchilada and everything devoured! THIS is what mexican food should taste like southerners-not that stuff covered in that white cheese sauce! Cannot wait to return!

How could Las Palmas win best Mexican restaurant again with this gem sitting right here? I have been here several times and never had a bad meal. During my latest jaunt, I ordered 2 carnitas tacos and one order of the Super Nachos. (I was on a serious binge that day.) The carnitas tacos tasted as if they were teleported straight from a kitchen in Michoacan directly into my mouth. The meat was succulent and moist with hints of crispy tidbits hinting that they were freshly grilled. (Definitely add some salsa verde or "green salsa" for an extra kick.) The Super Nachos as usual, were under-priced (Only $6.49!). The serving was huge and came with refried beans, your choice of chicken or carne asada (Go for the asada!), refried beans, sour cream, and a medley of spices and vegetables. You could definitely taste the quality. I will have to return many times more in order to experience the full menu. Everyone should definitely visit this establishment, especially those looking for cheap/great eats. By the way, the service is very prompt and the staff are always nice. To the person who compared Oscar's to Blue Coast and Moe's.... really? Do you get your gourmet burgers at McDonald's? Chain vs. Homemade/Authentic... hmmm.

  • Ben F.

I probably eat here once a week, and I'm pretty picky about tacos and nachos. They put the food together every day. The fish tacos are amazing. The carnitas are also great. If you're looking for a really, really cheap meal, order the 5 "rolled tacos" (deep-fried taquito-style beef tacos) and get change back on a 5 dollar bill. It comes with a generous portion of fresh lettuce & guacamole on top. I am proud to say that I was a regular here before the name was changed from Taco Express to Oscar's Taco. I don't know how they are making so much money and opening so many new locations with prices as low as they are. It doesn't taste like they are cutting corners with the food. The standards have stayed high for the last 4 years. Stop reading and go eat some deliciousness.

Growing up in Chicago we had a lot of place like this. Just good Mexican food. Nothing fancy, just grab a burrito as big as your head and enjoy. Before finding Oscars four years ago, I missed that, but Oscars fits this need for me. Carne Asada Burrito with some verde salsa and pickled carrots...excellent. Quesedillas are great as well.

Had lunch here for the first time today after listening to my boyfriend, who works just down the street, go on and on about it for months - and his praise was definitely warranted. I absolutely loved this place! They hit all of the necessary checkmarks on my restaurant list: - Timely? Definitely. We made it in and out in well under an hour, and that included time to sit back and savor the flavor. - Reasonably priced? Beyond belief. I ordered a giant carne asada quesadilla that could have easily been lunch for two and it was $5.99. Craziness. - Was it delicious? Incredibly! The quesadilla was packed with flavor, from the tender carne asada to the cheese, refried beans, pico and guac. Oh, and they brought out two salsas, a red and a green, and despite usually not liking green salsa, theirs was awesome and I found myself drowning my food in it. I am terribly jealous that my beau has this place in such close proximity to his work. If there's any justice in this world, Oscar's will bring their goodies to the West End (or the Belle Meade/Charlotte area will do...) so that I can try everything else on their menu as soon as possible.

How good is Oscar's Taco Shop? Well, let's just say that if it were allowed in the state of Tennessee, I would marry one of their burritos. Although, it would really just be part of a plot to eat the burrito and the rest of the burrito's family. It's so good it makes you want to commit burritocide (and steal jokes from Mike Birbiglia). The restaurant started as a place called Taco Express, which to my knowledge was the exact same thing. It's in a hole in the wall with fewer than 10 tables. If you're planning on eating in the restaurant, either be prepared to wait or come on an off hour. The good thing, though, is that Oscar does to go orders. The food...well, what can you say? It's awesome. I have tried as many things as I possibly can on the menu and I have yet to find anything that did not make me have an "OH MY GOD ITS SO GOOD" reaction. It's all just so good. What really makes it, however, are the sauces. There's a green one and a red one. One is supposedly hot and the other is mild. I don't really feel that heat is the difference. They are both incredibly delicious...and I use them both. Also, the tortillas are made in house and are generally hot and so delicious that you can't stop eating them. The best part - you can leave incredibly full for under $10 and be happy that you ate what you ate...and you'll come back.

I remember when this used to be a dinky little shop in old Franklin. This is probably the only place that has improved with the bland style that pervades this side of town, as it used to be quite a dive. Do not order the beef. I don't know why, but they have the most flavorless Carne Asada this side of Las Palmas. Highly recommend: Bean Burrito - I like mine with potatoes (con papas) and extra cheese. Best beans in town, hands down. Chips with Queso - Great fresh chips with an excellent queso dip. Why pay 4 bucks at a sit down place when you can get a half order for 1.75? The half order is plenty for two, by the way. Tostada - I like the bean. A wonderfully thick and crunchy disc of fried tortilla topped with a refreshing and delicious mixture of bean, cheese, guacamole and other sundries. Fish Taco - The real McCoy. Nothing wrong with their fish taco at all. Churro - Wow! A real churro! Hard to find these in TN. Sometimes I get two. Their Spicy Salsa - They ask if you want hot or mild. Get the hot. It's green. If you stick to that menu, you will likely think this place is A #1. However, there are a lot of bombs on the menu (in my opinion). The meat in general just isn't up to snuff. Fajitas aren't worth getting. Tortas are edible but I found mind to be quite salty. Tacos are average beyond the fish. Taco salad and taquitos (rolled up tacos) are average. I order them once in a blue moon, but it's nothing exciting. Quesadillas aren't my style either.

I had heard through the grapevine about this hole in the wall gem. I happened to be in Franklin, and made sure to swing by. Can I just say that the California Burrito tasted like it came straight from the Aliberto's stop beachfront San Diego, my tastebuds regressed to those lazy beachy afternoons.... But I digress! Take my advice, EAT HERE!!!

I've had better. I got the Taco Salad... nothing great.

  • Alix F.

I love Oscar's Taco Shop! My husband and I had heard about it through some friends, and we love Mexican food, so we decided to hit it up. The first time we went, I ordered a shrimp burrito (I have an obsession with shrimp), and it was delicious. They use their "special sauce" in their burritos and some of their tacos. If you order the shrimp burrito (which I highly recommend), I would add guacamole--so much better! Also, Monday-Friday until 3pm they have the $3 meal deal with like 4 different items. It's worth it if you're looking for a quick, cheap meal.

I hit up Oscar's every now and then for weekday lunches. The shop is tiny and very causal, with most foods served on paper plates. But don't let the fast-food atmosphere mislead you...these guys know how to do fresh Mexican food! I've tried the chicken tacos and cheese enchilada plate and both were delicious, but my current favorite is the Super Chicken Nachos. It is just a riduculous amount of food for the price. Two could easily share this for lunch (I admit, much to my shame, that I have consumed an entire order by myself before and regretted my gluttony!) The nacho chips are fresh made, topped with chopped chicken breast, beans, guacamole, cheese, and probably a couple of things I'm forgetting. One of my favorite things about Oscar's are their house-made salsas. I always get both the mild red and spicy green. Absolutely delicious! I've seen a lot of people enjoying the gigantic quesadillas. They look really good, so I'll probably try one of those next. I've heard the fish tacos are awesome but that's not my bag so I can't say. During lunch rush, it can be hard to get a table (there's only a handful), so be prepared. I frequently get my meal to-go here. Fresh food, large portions, and fair prices. Fast-food atmosphere with sit-down restaurtant quality.

I have been going to Oscar's once a week for about 6 months. I have yet to try anything I haven't liked. A super choice is the fish tacos. Homemade corn tacos, fresh shredded cabbage, and a questionable fried fish. Don't expect high end fair- everything is cheap and filling. Another great choice is the chicken quesadillas. It's more like 3 tortillas combined in one. It's filled with chicken, guacamole (which is freakin delicious here), beans, cheese...and i think thats it. anyway. cheap. delicious. worth the money. by the way: GET THE CHURROS. they are 99 cents each and coated with a 1/2 inch of sugar and cinnamon. soooo good.

  • Kelly B.

My husband and I are on a quest to find the best fish taco in town. This is definitely a challenging mission being so far from the coast, but Oscar's does a great job. In the world of fish tacos, I'd give theirs a 7 out of 10, which is a really great score for a landlocked state. If you go during lunchtime, anticipate waiting for your order, but it will be worth it!

  • Brad B.

5 stars simply because they serve breakfast (burritos, not tacos but close enough) all day. Very clean space in South Franklin. Owner runs the register and is very helpful & friendly. Shared a bacon/egg/potato burrito, crispy beef taco, 2 fish tacos, and an order of nachos for the boy. Lots of food, good quality -- not greasy spoon, everything very tidy and excellent flavor. They are opening a new location on the north side of Franklin (Mallory Ln, across from Centennial HS by Garlic Jims) in October 09 -- a little closer location for me. I will be sure to check them out again -- this former Texan gives it an informed Gringo Tex Mex connoisseur seal of approval!

Although a little hard to find for the casual tourist - this little place located in a strip mall outside of downtown Franklin is definitely worth seeking out. While visiting on business I searched Yelp for a suggestion and came upon Oscars. The tacos are incredible. I had the combo taco platter with rice, beans, a carne asada and a fish taco. Incredible taste and great value. With an iced tea it came to about $9.00.

I'm from Southern California, so I grew up on fresh, real, spicy Mexican food. No place compares to this AUTHENTIC taco shop. After all, they are from California, which makes it easier for me to go there. Very friendly and very affordable. Las Palmas, Garcia's, Nachos, have nothing on this place. They just bought out the office next to it and expanded, which allows a lot more seating. My only disappointment is that they put in an ad in the City Saver and wont accept the coupons.

  • Randall F.

REALLY great for what it is... it's not glamorous- ritzy or high -falutin... it is a taco shop... plain and simple... Dont let the simple facade fool you- this place is for real GREAT Guacamole and my favorite is the Machaca Burrito.

  • Wayne H.

Our favorite place for Mexican food. Oscar's San Diego inspired recipes truly match our California-bred palette. Oscar and his family are friendly, and the food is wonderful. We especially like the Chicken tacos, but everything we've had has been good. The place has limited seating and can be noisy at times.

  • matt c.

IT's okay, better than most places around (like those slimy-tortilla slingers Baja / Bluecoast), but the prices are higher than Taco Express, which is actually slightly better too. They're related, I guess. Also, you don't get free chips here.

"Taco Truck" Tacos at Static Locations I like places that serve great food at a great price. I don't want to invest in ambience or decor. I want great food at a great price and this local small business has brought So-Cal mexican to the Nashville area. Great tacos on corn tortillas cooked to order. No pre-cooked meats in a stainless steel /plastic container like all the wanna be subway style mexican chains. They offer a plethora* of meats for their tacos, burritos, tortas, chimichangas, and enchiladas. Best fish taco I can find around Nashville. Just wish they had "tacos de lengua" (tongue) tacos. The variety is still extensive and what they do, they do well. Wouldn't mind a few slices of radish on the tacos but maybe thats not the So-Cal way. The burritos are huge. At least 80% meat and theres minimal "filler" only guacamole and pico de gallo. The prices and service is great! So is the mild/hot taco sauce and salsa. I cant wait till they expand closer to the downtown Nashville area. That way I can convert my co-workers from the boring every corner mexican restaurant to fresh traditional So-Cal mexican fare. *Three Amigos!(1986) lol. Jefe: I have put many beautiful pinatas in the storeroom, each of them filled with little suprises. El Guapo: Many pinatas? Jefe: Oh yes, many! El Guapo: Would you say I have a plethora of pinatas? Jefe: A what? El Guapo: A *plethora*. Jefe: Oh yes, you have a plethora. El Guapo: Jefe, what is a plethora? Jefe: Why, El Guapo? El Guapo: Well, you told me I have a plethora. And I just would like to know if you know what a plethora is. I would not like to think that a person would tell someone he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has *no idea* what it means to have a plethora. Jefe: Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on me?

the nacho were greasy chips with globs of yellow cheddar cheese like the big cans of cheese you buy for school events at sam's or Walmart. no taste. nothing else on them. the quesadilla with chicken was same greasy flour tortilla wet with tomatoes and same limp looking appearance. now usually my husband will eat anything but he looked at me and ask if there was a sonic nearby to go get dinner at. it was that bad. mostly kids working in there at 6pm on dec. 8. usually we go to swankys taco bar onver on carothers in franklin and there food is amazing but we thought we would try something new,. big misstake. taco bell would be an improvement.

Awesome!! Quick and Cheap!! They too have real guacamole. The girls up front were very personable and helpful. Everything I have had there is great and aparently quite a few artists, songwriters and athletes agree with me because they have a nice collection of autographed promo prints. I love that I can get there, order and be back at my desk in 15 minutes, which is crucial when you only have 30 minutes for lunch. I am sure if I really thought ahead and called in my order, I could actually get another errand in as well. I only wish that they were open on Sundays so I could hit them up after church!

I use to think Oscar's was the bomb....but after today Taco Bell looks good. The tacos were greasy and the meat was burned. And nothing had any flavor. Thumbs down....I told the girl about the taste and greasy tacos and she just shruged her sholders....it will be awhile before I go back!

Wonderful! Good Mexican food is hard to find in Tennessee, as I have found. This place is great! Im from California, were I was spoiled with authentic, right over the boarder Mexican food. The owner of this establishment is from SO CAL, so that tells ya something right there ; ). The fish tacos, California Burrito, Quesadillas, are wonderful tasting! This is a must!!!

I found out about this restaurant on Yelp, and from the reviews I wanted to try it. Well, the reviews were right on! This place was SO good. It's inexpensive yet good quality Mexican food. I had the Carne Asada and my wife had the Quesadilla's, and both were incredible...better than almost ANY Mexican food I've had. We went out of our way to eat here, and it was well worth it.

i am a sucker for fish tacos, and Oscar's has one of the best in the area. However, stay away from the nachos--- they are topped with artificial cheese.

Excellent CA style burrito shop! Went to new location on Mallory Ln in Franklin. No frills, great food, and reasonable pricing.

Tough competition with Blue Coast, Moes and Baja so close - but we decided to try it out for lunch - prob about 10 people there, so not as busy as I thought. The Chicken burrito was about what to expect. Nothing exciting - prob less flavor than the competition. The worst part was the order of 2 shredded beef tacos. My friends burrito came..I waited...and waited...and waited...when I went up to ask about it (after about 7 other orders were filled) they said it was next to come up...so I waited...and waited...then they came out to me and asked what I ordered. REALLY?!?! I cancelled my order and on the way out the door to Blue Coast Burrito to get my lunch they came with it in a to-go bag. Bottom line is that the food is OK - nothing special - nothing better than the competition. The one thing I will remember though is waiting...and waiting...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
