Good food and fun atmosphere, but the family style menu makes it more difficult and expensive than it should be. It's probably fine for six people. Tonight it was just me and my adult daughter, and we have different tastes, so we shared two of the small entrees, which are meant to feed two people each. The Quattro al Forno was a good sampler -- cheese manicotti and cheese ravioli were predictably good. The chicken cannelloni had an overpowering taste of a spice that's used in sausage (I forget what it's called). I liked it, but it tasted like sausage. The stuffed shells were surprisingly spicy but also good. We also had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were giant and quite tasty. Service was attentive and prompt. The Quattro al Forno doesn't have enough food to satisfy two people, but the spaghetti could've easily fed two or three people. For leftovers, we each brought home a big helping of spaghetti but only two bites of the Quattro platter. Two small entrees, two sodas, mozzarella bread, tip, and tax came to $69, which is a lot of money in my book. That's more than you'd spend at Maggiano's Little Italy for two entrees plus two take-home entrees. And the food and atmosphere are a lot better at Maggiano's. My bill would've been $20 cheaper if Buca di Beppo had fulfilled its promise to send me a coupon. Buca's website promised a coupon for a free entree if I signed up for its email club. So I signed up and waited. And waited. No coupon. It's been eight hours now. I suppose it will show up eventually, but too late for me to use it.

We had Buca cater our wedding last month. The food was delicious, everyone loved it! We even had lots left over. Holly was amazingly helpful with everything we needed. Couldn't have been happier with our food choice for our special day!

Gosh, I was recommended this restaurant by many of my friends. All of which, who raved about the food. I just wasn't impressed. The food was ok, but not great. The atmosphere was not my favorite and comparable to an italian Applebee's--only I like their food better. I just feel like this was over priced cookie cutter italian food...and if I want that I would just go to an Olive Garden.

I was visiting TN from CA. I've been to locations in CA, and this one was pretty much the same as far as looks the same, same layout, menus, décor, even the bathrooms with the audio teaching you how to speak Italian. When you first get seated they ask if you've been there before so they walk you past the kitchen as if giving you a tour. It's all family style so you order big portions and share among everyone at your table. If you are ODC about things being organized, then this place is not for you because all locations have their walls COVERED with different photos, frames, of all sizes without any sort of order about them. Also if you're claustrophobic this place probably isn't for you either because most seating is booth style and enclosed. Food overall was yummy. Kids get crayons and something to color. A/C is pretty strong so might want to bring in a sweater just in case. There wasn't anything that stood out that I feel like I should take off a star for.

We have always had good meals here. The calamari appetizer is the best and the service is fast and friendly. It's a chain so look for coupons!! Always a fun time

Average Italian food. I've been here twice, both for large dinner parties of at least 15 people. I wouldn't come here for a date with my husband or bring family as there are other Italian restaurants in which the food is superior. However, this place is great if you need to make a reservation for a large group. It is important to note that you order family style. Everything, from salads to pasta and entrees, are available in small or large. Small feeds two people, large feeds four. My husband and I can usually agree on a dish to share. Our last visit, we ordered the spicy chicken rigatoni. It was OK. Not really spicy in either of our opinions, and the sauce was sparse. I did not really taste much garlic or crushed red pepper. We also split a caprese salad, which was good, but then again, it's hard to mess that one up! Service was good for a large group.

Great service, good food and fantastic atmosphere. The lasagna is excellent, chicken Parmesan was tender but a bit under seasoned and the calamari was perfect.

5 star review for their tiramisu. BEST EVER. I've grown up eating a ton of it from different restaurants too. This tiramisu is very large, thick, soaked generously in coffee and rum, a ton of mascarpone cheese, yummy lady fingers... Mmmmmmmm After having theirs, I can't even enjoy tiramisu anywhere else. It's a family style portion so if you go just order 1 with some coffee. Sometimes my husband and I will just go for dessert. It's perfect.

Portions are huge, even the so called small. Food is good, ambiance is interesting. It is easy to get carried away with ordering and end up with $$$ bill. I have never had a bad experience here, the meatball appetizer is a favorite.

Fantastic! chef steve is great. Teanna, our server, was fabulous, and Troy really cares about his establishment. Oh, the food? Amazing! Get the baked ziti.

Meh. It's good, but not great food. We've been twice. On the most recent visit, service was not great. We waited quite awhile before having our order taken, had to flag our server down for drink refills and was very slow boxing up our leftovers. Maybe they were busy or maybe it was because the little area we were stuck in the corner of had two groups of 6 come in after us. Here we were trying to have a nice date-night dinner, and there's a preschooler whining just on the other side of the long bench we shared. As far as food goes, I don't think it's all that much better than Olive Garden. A huge drawback for me is that the bread is plain bread, not garlic bread. The dipping oil doesn't have much flavor and just makes the bread soggy. Wait until have a really good coupon to eat here.

If you like great food and great service, this is the place to go! From the greeters to the waiter to the chef to the manager....everyone was friendly and accommodating! It was a wonderful experience!

Hurts to give 4 stars. Should be 5. Yet they took beans and greens off the menu and it was so authentic my grandma would have been happy. We are not fans do chains but it is good everywhere we live and always the kitchen no matter what. Our friends love the fruiti de mare and they live beach side. We like the veal but order that in smaller mom and pop places more. Love the experience and the generous garlic and parmesano available.

I was really torn on how to rate this restaurant. The food comes in HUGE portions so you order for the group and share. We had salad, bread, spaghetti with softball sized meatballs, chicken Parmesan and baked ziti. All the food was really good, probably 4-5 stars however... the SERVICE just kills this place! We waited almost 30 minutes (with reservations) for a table for 5 (another couple came in after us and also had reservations but waited quite awhile. The place only had a few people in it. Then our hostess turns out to be our waitress too. Trying to get drinks, refills, anything else was next to impossible. They were also out of cheesecake and tiramisu. I think if they had better management, it would be a 5 star place. Oh, they sang happy b-day to a kid there and i think there were 5 people singing including kitchen staff. Scary.

Overall pretty great family style eating... Their veal is just not good though. 2 out of 3 times it just wasn't worthy so now we don't order it. The stuffed chicken is my absolute favorite.

I brought a work party here before trying it out. It is a family style restaurant so the portions are large and shared. We pulled together a variety of entrees. The were all delicious. The place was busy but the servers were very attentive. I recommend this restaurant for large groups.

We got a LOT of really good Italian food there. The family-style dining is a lot of fun, but it makes it easy to run up a large bill if you're not paying attention (and we weren't). But we had great leftovers for days to come.

Could not enjoy meal because a group of about 25 children were allowed to set together without the supervision of an adult. The children were loud and disrespectful of the other diners trying to enjoy their meal. The restaurant management should have required a parent to at least be in the same room to provide supervision.

Came here for Thanksgiving believe it or not, and it was pretty decent. I judge all italian places by their chicken marsala, though, and even though they had, and we ordered the full thanksgiving dinner, I made sure to get the marsala. Theirs actually leaned towards the sweet side, which I found...interesting. It's an okay restaurant though, but I'll try to find some family that is cooking their grandmother's marsala recipe next time. Not to mention it didn't come over any sort of pasta at all. Just chicken breasts in mushrooms in marsala. It's a Buca di Beppo. If you haven't been, you should try one, then realize once again why you should be searching out good, better food, that people that care more about their food and entertaining than their bottom line, and supporting them.

Buca di Beppo was very, very well received for a luncheon that they catered for us. Their catering menu carries nearly everything on their restaurant menu, so the variety of options was appreciated. Their Chopped Antipasto Salad was very well received and their Chicken Limone was to die for and the first tray to be emptied. The Ravioli al Pomodoro was a close second. Proscuitto Stuffed Chicken, Chicken Saltimbocca, and Eggplant Parmigiana will definitely be on our next order! Can't wait to try those next!

Solid 4 stars, if you need more sauce just ask. Very friendly and accommodating. Choose your family portions wisely as they are bigger then you think. Always have a good meal here. I am not Italian but have been around for a while, it is just good.

Went here for my birthday dinner tonight and thought everything except the pizza was very average. We started off with the pepperoni pizza which was delicious and the thin crust and tons if pepperoni made it awesome. The "small" portions are huge just so you know, I don't think it is necessary to get a large. None of our pastas had hardly any sauce on them and they were very dry. It was nice thief because our server ended up bringing is extra sauce, it did take like 15 minutes though which was kind of unfortunate because by that time the pasta was cold, and kind of hard from the lack of sauce. The environment is very cool though and I do like the restaurant all in all. Oh, and the meatballs are awesome!

Ordering food here is challenging as items are meant to be shared amongst your party. If you can order a couple of items and share it with a large group of people, that seems to be best. I went with 12 people and it worked great. For less than 4 people plan on a lot of leftovers. The food is pretty good.

I ate here for the first time recently with a co-worker and had a really nice experience. First off, some advice: sign up for their mailing list, holy discounts galore. My co-worker and I signed up. I immediately got $10 off and order of two pasta entrees large or small. Then she received a coupon for a FREE pasta meal. Perfect. So we went and were greeted with fast service. The hostess showed us around and walked us through the kitchen, pretty neat! All the decor is really fun old-school Italian diner style, I liked it. She took us to our table where our server quickly tended to us. We showed her our free pasta coupon and ordered some side salads to go with it. A few minutes later she brought delicious warm bread and oil to dip it in, yummmmmm. A little bit later she brought our salads, a nice little Caesar for me, perfect amount of dressing, crunchy lettuce, big croutons. Then she brought our giant "small" bowl of pasta. We both ate and had seconds and enough to take home, bread too! We ordered the Alfredo, it was pretty good, I liked the pasta. It was very simple though, nothing thrilling, but I was more than happy with it considering it was free. The left overs made for a fantastic lunch a few days later. Our bill? $6, we split it, $3 is pretty damn good for a very filling lunch. We WILL be back.... with a coupon!!

Will never be back again. Waited an hour and a half for our food tonight, got an apology, but nothing else. In retrospect, I wish we would've left before our food was brought out. I felt like some compensation was in order tonight for our long wait with 2 hungry toddlers. 2 cold appetizers and 2 small entrees and $150 check was what we got instead. I don't go out often and can't afford to spend lots of money, so when I do, I hope to have better service than I received this evening. Extremely disappointed that I had to spend hard earned money on this place.

My last review prompted a timely response from Bucca di Peppo regional management. Kudo's to them for paying attention. I agreed to discuss the review by phone and was very impressed with the sincerity and concern for our family's botched dinner experience. We'll be happy to give Bucca another try and see if the staff can redeem themselves. I would also add that the food was great and we do enjoy the atmosphere.

This place was amazing! Jessica, our server, was real attentive and had a big smile on her face! The manager came over and apologized for our coupon not working. We are traveling from Las Vegas and didn't think we would find Buca de Beppo in the south! The quality of foods is the same as the one in Vegas and the service was over the top!

Joined some friends at Buca last night. It's been several years since the last visit. The meal was good, but I think everytime I leave Buca, I've always felt a little like we paid too much. Entree's are too big and expensive to really get any variety without a huge crowd, so everyone at the table has to settle on something common or leave with lots of leftovers. So someone at the table is always left compromising or paying their share of something they didn't touch. That said, they do a great Tiramisu with plenty to share and that atmosphere is fun.

Very disappointed with the service here. We booked a reservation for Valentine's Day 2 weeks ahead of time and set a somewhat later reservation of 8pm. We arrived early and was overwhelmed at the throng of people waiting in the lobby and outside. After waiting for a few minutes, we heard the hostess tell a walk-in customer that they were only taking reservations, no walk-ins would be seated. I was shocked...all of us had reservations and there were still this many people waiting. There had to have been at least 75 people waiting. We were finally seated - only about 10 minutes late which was fine...no big deal. We then waited another 20 minutes before anyone came to acknowledge our presence and take a drink order. After another 10 minutes we were asked if we wanted an appetizer only to be told our two selections were sold out. We finally got our order placed and waited over an hour for our meal to be brought to our table. Our waitress checked on us a total of twice in the 2 hours between being seated and us finally asking for our check. At one point, after my wine glass was empty I began splitting a glass of water with my wife. I am sure staffing was an issue, but the service was very slow and, honestly non-existent. The food was very good - as always - but we will not come here for another holiday or special event again.

Very good. This is a big restaurant with lots of big tables and booths. They can accommodate big parties and big families. For a chain restaurant, I find the food to be pretty good, with plenty of flavor. I'm sure lots of the sauces come from a can, but hey, the dishes are well prepared, and taste good. If your party likes a salad, consider getting one of the large ones. They are big enough to serve three to four people. There are lots of coupons out there, so have a look if you're planning to go.

  • Robert N.

Absolutely horrible service before seating. We made reservations, as any sane person would do, however it was an additional 45 minutes before we were seated. People waiting beside us with the same number of people and reservation times after us were seated first. The hostess, who was clearly a immature high school student, was seating people she knew immediately as they came in. We were visiting Nashville and made the drive down for a dinner with the parents. The food was on par, however, it doesn't make up for the fact that we were at the restaurant for nearly three hours. The location in Houston is amazing; but this country bumpkin location isn't worth the trouble.

We made reservations for 12 at the Pope table as we had children with us, we were seated right away and our server was o.k. besides that the food was bland. The private room is why I gave it two stars. We have been to other Buca di Beppo's and have had a much better meal. The Buca salad was good as was the Buca Trio Platter but just good, the meatballs were like baseballs not only in size but dense without any flavor, spaghetti was over cooked, chicken limone was tough with very little flavor, the chicken marsala did have flavor but was also tough, the baked ziti was about the worst I have ever had. The desserts were really good we had the ice cream and cannoli's. Enough said none of us will go back.

Buca is a guilty pleasure of mine. I have several friends who work or have worked there, so I always get excellent service. The food isn't quite as good as Molinari's or my own Italian recipes, but it's usually less of a wait than Molinari's and I don't have to clean up like I do at home. My wife and I have a secret love for Buca's gnocchi. You can imagine our disappointment when on our last visit we discovered they'd removed the gnocchi from the menu. We decided to make the most of it and took our time to select a replacement. The cheese-stuffed ravioli was just okay, but that could've just been my prejudice against it for not being the gnocchi. For those of you who really enjoy multiple courses, Buca is best if you can share between three people. My wife and I had to bring a fair amount of food home. Also, for those of you who enjoy pairing appropriate drinks with their courses, I was pleasantly surprised by the selection and knowledge of the server of Buca's aperitifs and digestifs, and their relatively reasonable prices. FYI, I highly recommend their Apple Crostata dessert paired with a warmed snifter of Grand Marnier....yum. That combination alone is worth the four-star rating. In short, if you've got 3 or more people (or can eat for that many) give Buca a try. Be prepared to share and take your time and savor the meal experience. It really does feel like you're sitting around a dining room table in a friend's house, only with better service.

Did not care for this place at all. The food was ok, the service was ok. You can order family size portions which does help out on the pocket a little bit instead of everyone ordering separately. I was very disappointed in the Tiramisu! It taste straight up like alcohol and I didnt taste any cake, coffee, or cocoa. I might as well of just gotten a shot of liquor instead. This place did not float my boat and I probably will never be back

My husband & I were there today for the first time for lunch. We went because we had a gift card. The best thing I can say is the service was impeccable. I had the most bland marinara sauce I've ever had, plus it was watery & I tasted no basil or garlic. My husband's Alfredo sauce, in his words, was "like a paste made of flour and water with absolutely no flavor." The salads were the worst I've ever had. Not much to them & the shrimp I added were were not grilled, as I expected, maybe sauteed for a second, but not very good. The salad had the most bland & oily dressing I've ever tasted. (no balsamic vinaigrette, if that's what you want) What we loved was the ambiance & the enthusiastic waiter who took the time to give us a tour. I can name at least 3 other restaurants in close proximity that have authentic flavorful Italian food. We were offered a to-go box, as the lunch portions were plentiful, but declined, never wanting to eat their food again.

Buca is nothing great, nothing bad. What you get is decent Italian food that is consistent and available in family sized portions. I think it is a great option if you're trying to feed a family or a large party and don't have the time nor energy to create a big dinner on your own. I actually thinkt their appetizers and salads shine versus their pasta entrees which can be kind of bland. Cool interior as well with wacky pictures all over the place. It definitely kept the kiddo entertained while waiting on the food.

We ordered some party trays for our clubs Christmas party at our home this Saturday. We have done this in the past for the group and for a birthday party. It has always been exceptional. Not this time. The garlic bread was super hard and stale. But most of all the pasta was very dry and plain with little sauce to help it. It was not a good experience. Seems like this location at least is slipping into mediocrity. Oh well, lots of other choices in the area.

  • Jason T.

I could have stuffed a pasta shell for a lot cheaper. Like Robert before me said, "their small portion says it feeds 2-3 people but it is really a serving for one". I need to remember to ask these places what they charge for their sodas before ordering. Mind you, it costs about 15 cents to make a syrup-based carbonated beverage at places like this. If they charge 3 dollars like Buca di Beppo does; don't waste your money, go elsewhere where they won't bend you over for profit. .

My first time here and I'll definitely be going back! The salad was amazing and the dessert was so fresh and delicious! The pasta was really good as well, just wish the baked ziti had a little more sauce. Loved the atmosphere, even if some people got a little to loud at the bar next to us. I was especially happy to see they offered Seven Daughters Moscato Wine... One of my favorites! I might have to make a special trip back just to have that salad again!!!

Don't get me wrong the food and pizza is good, it is just way to expensive for what you get. There small portion says it feeds 2-3 people but it is really a serving for one. We will not be returning for pizza anyway. Prices for a small pie are way out of whack with any other pizza ace.

Amanda was the absolute BEST server I've ever had. We had a confusion with what we wanted and ended up ordering something way too spicy for our liking and she quickly offered to make us something different. We'll definitely be back and we'll ask for her.

A few days ago I had my 3rd dining experience at Buca. I've eaten there twice with big parties (one of those times in the Pope Room!) and this time it was just 3 of us. For starters, I LOVE the decor. Lot's of different pictures and interesting things on the wall. They seem to be fond of butts and boob pics there. lol. I find it funny and not at all offensive. They even have this little display case in the women's bathroom full of vintage beauty products. Pretty cool. All of the food I have had there has been good. I wouldn't go as far as to say AMAZING, but definitely good. Our waiter this time was very friendly and well educated about all the dishes and specials he was offering. I wish they had a better table bread, though. What they serve is plain Italian bread and it's not even cut al the way through. Makes it kind of hard to get a piece. Also, we ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was pretty darn greasy. I had to blot it and I'm usually never a blotter. We ordered a liter of white sangria and even though it tasted good, you couldn't taste any alcohol in it. They did end up messing up our bill, but I will take part responsibility for that. We were splitting it between 2 debit cards and accidentally forgot to give them the coupon we had. They were nice enough to total it agian and re-run our cards, but as of 3 days later I'm still waiting for one of the charges to be removed from my bank acct. Overall I think this is a good place to take a large group or just someone who hasn't been there before. But if you really just want delicious tasting food and a different type of italian atmosphere I suggest going up a block to Macaroni Grill.

Tonight was my first visit to Buca. My wife has enjoyed their catered food before which is why we decided to satisfy our pasta craving. My beef is with the concept, not the location. (The service was quick and courteous.) The place caters to groups. It's strongly advertised as a place for multiple types of parties and the food is family style served in one of two sizes. The smaller "feeds 2-3". The problem with a couple is that you are paying for servings you may not eat. If the prices were cheaper then I could justify the waste. We had started with their $10.95 caesar salad. It was the mediocre salad you would expect. I wouldn't have raised an eyebrow if it cost half that price. I cat help but feel ripped off at $11 for a few people. We also had the baked rigatoni for $16.95. I think this price is very fair for even two people. (It could have served four.) It had dollops of ricotta which I enjoyed but only one slice/pile of mozzarella in the middle. The menu says "lots of mozzarella." The cheese is what I looked for in a "baked" dish. The sliced sausage was boring and oddly paired with a meat sauce. I see that it lists the meat sauce on the menu but I must have missed it. The ambiance is kitschy and enjoyable. I can see myself going back with family or a large group but never again as a small group. I would rather spend my money on quality and not quantity.

Very similar to Maggiona's Italian Restaurant the food just kept coming. The Cranberry walnut salad and chicken was really good. The chocolate cake was fab. The margaritas were great a bit pricey but I would go back!

Traveling for business and we saw this location on our way to the hotel. Let me first say...the food was very good. We had Shrimp Florentine and the mixed greens salad. However I was very unhappy that it was family style only. I was with a co-worker, so this meant that we had to decide on items to share. They do not serve individual servings during dinner. We finally decided on something we both liked and the $11 salad that we were served was good, but you can get this same salad for free at Olive Garden...with croutons. The main course was enough for 3 hearty portions an was $20, but we are traveling so almost 1/3 went to waste since we don't have a good means to have left overs. A bit over priced, but the food was good. I recommend for groups or families who are ok with having the same thing. The server was prompt and attentive. The atmosphere was good for families. The decor was atrocious. I left with a full belly but mixed feelings overall.

My family decided to eat here on a whim since we've never been here before. We were seated pretty quickly on a Sunday during lunchtime. When you are seated, they take you through the kitchen area, so you can see the people working and preparing the food. I forgot the reason why the hostess said she brought us through the kitchen, but I didn't care that much. But it was very clean which is important especially if your customers are going to be walking through there. I love how the place is decorated. Each of the rooms/sections have a theme. We were seated in the Cardinal Room which was red and in honor of the Pope. There were lots of pictures of the former Popes and the current Pope. The service was excellent. Our hostess and waitress was really friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. For an appetizer, bread was served with olive oil (and balsamic vinegar which was optional). The bread was yummy! The menu was a pretty decent size. Each food item comes in a Small (serving 2-3) and Large (serving up to six). The small was more than enough for my family. We ended up having left overs, but then again, we ordered quite a bit. We ordered a small of the following: -Calamari (Small $12 and Large $18): It was ok... The breading seemed soggy to me. -Apple Gorgonzola Salad (Small $13 and Large is $20): This was really yummy. The tartness of the green apples with the walnuts, cranberries, and Gorgonzola with the dressing was absolutely delightful. I got full after just eating that. It was so delicious. -Lasagna (Small $17 and Large $29): Meh, it wasn't that good to me. It tasted like it was missing something. And for some reason, I wasn't fond of the texture of the meat sauce. It was too... crumbly? -Penne San Remo (Small $19 and Large $30): It had chicken, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomatoes, and peas in a cream sauce. That too was really bland in my opinion. This place is good if you've got a big group, because the portions are humongous. But for the price? Ehh... Not worth it. I debated on rating it 2 or 3 stars...I give it 3 stars 'cause of the decorations, service, bread, and the salad. Man, this review is long and probably more than you wanted to know...

Yes, it's a chain. But...first, I gotta love a restaurant that looks as if it hired my sainted Nonna to decorate it (but people, you really need the plastic runners in the main traffic areas to complete the look). And it's the ONLY place in Nashville that both A. serves linguine Frutta di Mare AND B. is open on Christmas Eve. I must have calamari in red sauce on Christmas Eve. Period. The food is good. We had tiramisu tonight that was the real thing--I can't remember the last time I had tiramisu that actually had rum in it. It made me forgive them for no longer having tortoni on their dessert menu (and they used to serve it in softball sized scoops, the most tortoni I'd ever seen in one place). They serve good cheesy garlic bread. And please everyone--spare me the rants about how it isn't "REAL ITALIAN". It isn't. It's Italian-American food. And while it isn't the best I've ever had, it is good and the place is a fun experience.

Growing up, I had an Italian friend that I loved to visit. Take 2 steps into the door, and his mother would head you to the kitchen table and plop a plate of pasta in front of you. Manja, Manja! She would say, in such a way, that I was afraid that if I didn't finish the plate, the mob would wack me. Extended family would always show up, and treat you like you were family too. Eventually I knew his family tree better than my own. Fast forward 25 years, and enter Buca di Beppo. Aside from the 10 minute wait, It was like heading back to my friends home. The hostess heads you right through the kitchen (there's even a table in the kitchen) and into a room that looks like an old basement. Black and White photos of old Italian families completely cover the walls, and the temperature in the room was a little too warm, like you might expect in a space-heated basement packed with relatives. The food comes ultra-supersized. They say "feeds 2-3" for a small order, but trust me, if 2 of your friends finish a plate, you need to find thinner friends. The food is very good, although expensive. Luckily, coupons are not hard to find, and can knock 10 bills off the total. Unfortunately, this is not my friend's home. The restaurant is crowded, and bumping up against aunt Gina is one thing, a total stranger is another. The photos are nice, but there is no story behind the photos, they are not family. It's not a family basement, it's just a restaurant. I'm not sure I should fault them for this, but I will. They are selling you a family meal, but they just give you a big dinner. If you want to feed a large group or bring your extended family, I would highly recommend Buca - they specialize in the large group. But if you want dinner for two, you may find yourself missing the old Italian lady and her cries of Manja!

If you have a chance to sit in the Kitchen Booth...DO IT! I believe you have to make reservations in advance to sit there, but it is totally worth it and highly recommended if you've never eaten there. The booth is directly across from where the dishes are prepped before going to the tables, and the servers stop by your table to show you each of the dishes before going out. By sitting here, I already know that I want to try the Quattro al Forno because there's not much food in life better than baked cheese and pasta. In addition to the Kitchen Booth is another booth called the Passion Booth. I believe this booth offers a little more privacy than the others in the dining area. I have to give Buca Di Beppo compliments for quickly turning a bad experience into a good experience. We had recently visited for lunch and was told that the computers were down, and they weren't seating people. This bothered me because it just wasn't handled right and I didn't understand what computers had to do with cooking. I work in customer service with computers, and we continue doing our job to the best of our ability and don't halt our entire business until everything is back up. My boyfriend contacted the corporate office and was put in touch with the manager of the store. All was made right, and his efforts are greatly appreciated. I'm glad we gave Buca Di Beppo another chance, and I can't wait to give the Quattro al Forno a try next time. I highly recommend a reservation for dinner, as it seems to fill up rather quickly.

A-OK. Not the best Italian in the world, but the family style dining makes for a great gathering. Cant say it does much for dinner for two...

5 stars for remaining consistent at every location I have visited nationwide! The classic chicken with lemon and capers is my absolute favorite but who can resist the pie-sized, rum drenched Tiramisu! I'm actually surprised they don't check Id's before serving this fantastically frosty treat! Speaking of checking Id's, they gave me a free Lemon Drop on my birthday! Bonus points! The only thing I could possibly love more than everything I've already mentioned is the mildly overstimulating decor. I mean, who wouldn't want a tacky photo of a half naked, 600 lb woman inhaling 5 gallons of spaghetti on the wall next to their table to make them feel better about the mass consumption they are about to endure? Well played, Buca.

I remember the first time at Buca's, I thought that I had gone to heaven. I would plan business trips around the Buca in the city I was visiting. When one opened up in Nashville, I was excited. We loved it! The past few times we've noticed that the quality, sizes and service has gone down. This past trip reminded us why we don't eat there any more. We stopped in for dessert and coffee. The whip cream didn't taste anything like whip cream, still not sure what it was....the coffee was worse the most hotel coffee. I guess I expect when you are charged more for a cup of coffee than Starbucks, you should get something that tastes better than weak brown water.

Overall it was a great experience. I will defenatly return! We went there for a birthday get together, 8 of us. I made reservations a week prior and someone called me the at before to comfirm. We were seated quickly and the food was great! There were four groups of "couples" and we planned out meals so we could all share each others. The portions were huge! A "small" is enough for two people and "medium" is enough for 3 or four people. I loved the cream soda! I've never been to a place that serves it in different flavors. I had strawberry and it was free refills! Service was excellent we had two of our party that ended up bring late and we never felt rushed or neglected. The layout of the restaurant is quite odd you walk through the kitchen to get to the back areas and there was even a table setup in the kitchen we went on a Saturday night and it was bush so in glad we had reservations!

Although it is a chain restaurant you would never know it. Other Italian chains tastes like the food was made on a assembly line not so here. The food tastes fresh and authentic. I live approximately 60 miles away and eat there when ever I get the chance.

My husband and I recently reserved the "Pope" room for a post-wedding dinner for our out of town guests and family. The room was the perfect size and since it was circular it was easy for everyone to see and talk to one another. The food was delicious and the value was fantastic. We can't think of a better place to have gathered for an intimate night before our guests headed back home.

This location is by far the best I've gone to in the U.S.. Everytime I'm in Nashville this is my go to place for meeting up with old friends or just a fun dinner for two. Don't forget to make your reservations or you could be standing for a while. I highly recommend the nooth in the kitchen. It's where I sit everytime.

Absolutely ideal for family style dining. We went here, all 10 of us, and we were able to sample just about everything on the menu. Family setting, good food, Id recommend it to anyone who has family coming to town.

Went to the website to order and was given an hour and fifteen minute wait time for pick up. Called the store and was told it would only be 15 minutes. I dont think there system adjusted for daylights savings. Order was ready when I got there, didnt have to wait. Got home and the small spaghetti (large enough for 4) dindt have any sauce on it, none we could see anyways. There were a few small spots of red stuff. Called the restaurant thinking they left out the sauce but the girl said she had similar complaints. The manager called me back within a couple of minutes and asked if he could deliver some sauce. I said that would be fine. It took about 20 minutes for his guy to deliver it. He also sent a piece of pie to make up for it. By this time everything was cold but we do have a microwave. As for the food, it was very good but they need to work on quality control especially on to go orders. I do give Alex, the manager a thumbs up for acting quickly and going the extra mile to deliver the sauce but he really should have just made another order. Food is good but if you get it to go make sure you check it completly before you leave.

Buca di Big Belli - Is a great place to go and eat till you start growing and expanding all aspects of your human. The food here is usually on point in both preparation and taste. They use some tradition recipes and also modern twists. I really like the garlic bread. Nice thin slices of garlic on the already covered with garlic powdered bread. The way to go here is to order the family meal deal or the plate like the Quattro al Forno. It is a must to get the garlic mashed potatoes and green bean sides. I think they over do it a little with the chicken options. Italians really don't use chickens all that much. Neither does this one (no feathered friends in this orifice). If you are an environmentally conscious person, bring Tupperware! you will have lunch, dinner, lunch, dinner, late night snack and enough for a friend! Well, that may be extreme, but not too far off if you have eaten here with a bunch of out-of-towners...then it is take home spa day of yumness. Great for privacy and groups...and dates if you don't plan on...or plan on rubbing bellies. The wine list is so-so with the house wine satisfying like 42 chuck... Hey, it's wine! The staff here tend to get over-worked. So, bring your blanket of patience. No matter what city you are in, this is a great place to visit and enjoy hours of eatting with friends and family.

Not great. I've had better. The whole family size portion dish deal makes it hard for a small group to order and get any variety. That is unless you want to spend a lot of money. This place is very pricey, and Italian food minus wine shouldn't really set you back that much. The tiramisu is the only saving grace. Enough booze in it to get you buzzing pretty good. Try Molinari's instead. Small, intimate, and good food.

After my previously bad experience at Buca I contacted the company to discover if a computer outage would normally result in customers not being seated. They got me in touch directly with management at that location. Matt was very apologetic and offered to have us back with a "kitchen table". Our experience this time was MUCH more satisfying. I'm not sure if people were being especially kind because of the previous experience or not, but our waiter was very attentive. In addition, the Kitchen Table affords you a view of the food as its made. The various waiters will even come directly to your table to show you what it is. Fortunately you get your food just about as quickly as possible since its right there. After seeing all this OTHER food, your appetite is certainly whetted. While I think the problem in my previous review could have been handled differently, I certainly felt like Buca took the problem seriously and made an effort to keep me as a customer.

Overall: Overrated, but not awful, italian food in the midst of a kitsch factory. Food: It's not bad, my issue is that I've just had better for a lot less. My bar for "good" italian food is something that I can't make in my own kitchen. In this case, the sauces don't pack enough punch and pasta is a little too overcooked for my liking. Service/Atmosphere: The wait staff has always been attentive whenever I've been there, and that includes large groups. If you can manage a table of 11, with 3 young kids, you're a good server. The restaurant itself is rather cavernous and covered with everything from posters to a bust of the Pope. Not usually the atmosphere I go for (at all) but I suppose I'll get in the spirit if I'm obligated to go. Cost: It's all family style. Even the "small" portions are large enough to share with 3 people. The prices reflect this. $18 for ravioli that's just "average" is too much for me... especially when you go head over to Lazzaroli in Germantown and buy more (and better quality) for less.

Food: great! The fried calamari was not overly bready. We ordered a large fresh mozz pizza, half with pepperoni. The pepperoni wasn't too spicy (good for kids). Our server was quick, friendly, and didn't hover. The Wait: we had reservations for 6:45 on a Saturday night. We arrived early at 6:15. They told us "10-15 minutes". 30 minutes later, at 6:45 pm., I ask them how much longer. The reply was 20 minutes. We weren't seated until 7:05. From the crowds of people that came pouring in, I gathered that was normal. So if you go, bring something to keep you entertained.

Scary.

  • James S.

The food was good but average. The setting was nice and price was really high for the small group portions. It may work out for really big group but not so much for two people.

    (2)

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
