Sooooo Much Food!!!! The food itself would only rate about 3 stars, but here in Clarksville Tn that's actually one of the best for a Chinese food restaurant. I added a star for fast, easy online delivery and the sheer amount of food you get with your orders. We had enough for lunch, dinner and a snack the day after for 3adults and 2 teens at just 26 dollars. I have yet to find a Chinese restaurant that's outstanding in my part of Tn, but this is fast and friendly service, and will fill you up for several meals.

Best in town. Quick for pick up and always hot. They have good lunch specials. However with being best in Clarksville and yelp certified they do not offer any yelp deals or discounts. This is my 4th trip here and will keep coming back. Plus order 20$ free crab rangoon

I'll start by saying I'm picky when it comes to any kind of Asian cuisine. My boyfriend is Thai and makes the best fried rice I've ever had so I'm spoiled by that. I was craving that made from scratch deliciousness that I am used to & shouldn't have even thought it would be the same. I ordered the shrimp fried rice, the rice was a little undercooked and hard. I'm not an onion fan at all, but can deal with them. The onions in this fried rice were hard too. Almost as if the onion wasn't cooked just chopped up and thrown in the rice. I ordered my son the sweet and sour chicken because being 4 that's all he'll eat from there. It was pretty good and also came with some steamed rice. The portion size of the chicken was overflowing. I also ordered some crab rangoon, which was pretty good and full of the filling. The reason I'll give this place 3 stars is because the delivery was super quick(I used the online method) and the price was extremely reasonable at a low $21, but it just wasn't all that good. I think I'll just stick to homemade which is always better. I probably won't eat here again just because it wasn't something I really enjoyed. I definitely will not take my boyfriend here he'd probably look at me like I was crazy.

Honestly for a Chinese take out place, this one has my vote for the Clarksville area. The food was on time (delivery), and all of it was supremely tasty. I would definitely order from there again.

Ordered from these guys multiple times - all delivery - and they've delivered hot, tasty, and inexpensive food every single time. Let's keep it real though, it's mostly mass produced food and while it still tastes good, if you're picky or want originality then you're prob not going to like Kings. If you are hungry and enjoy big portions of Chinese classics, then you'll prob be happy with this place. Side note: Only once did our order take excessively long but we ordered during a busy time. The restaurant is located off Fort Campbell Blvd which can be a nightmare, traffic-wise, at times. Outside of that they're fast.

Best chinese food in Clarksville. They gave me so much food I ate on it for THREE DAYS. If you grab a menu before ordering there are coupons inside. I told them I had never ordered from there before and was a little weary of trying new chinese food and they gave me a huge bag of wontons for free and MAN those things were good. We waited for a while for our food and it was take out- but it was cooked when we ordered it- not before. And I liked that. Really though, the food is delicious. Definitely WORTH THE MONEY. The prices are a little higher than the restaurant next to best way but you get what you pay for.

Take out from there today, typical take out fare but tasty and well seasoned. Lots of meat in all three suppers, egg rolls were on the greasy side but still ok but the complimentary krab rangoon were soggy. Enough grub for at least another meal if you are so inclined

Loved the quality of food. It's the freshest Chinese we ever had from delivery. The reason I'm giving 4 stars the wait was over an hour but aside from that it was well worth it! King Mao is our go to for Chinese from now on :)

The food is quite good - the best Chinese food I have found in Clarksville (which isn't saying much, I suppose). The portions are also generous and the prices are reasonable. However, I have never waited less than 45 minutes for the food to be delivered (I don't even live that far from their location), with the longest wait being an hour and 20 minutes. With that said, the drivers have always been apologetic and courteous. If it wasn't for the delivery issues, I would give them more stars. I would suggest ordering before you are even hungry so you're not starving by the time they come.

I can't speak on the take out food sizes because I dined in. I felt that my portion size was commensurate with the amount I paid for it. I didn't have to wait terribly long either. I ordered the Honey Chicken with steamed rice and an egg roll. The honey chicken I've had at other restaurants (Redwood, I'm looking at you!) sometimes has a hard glaze over the meat. Some people might like it- this guy wasn't one of them. The glaze is so hard that it's like you're eating candied meat. That's NOT right! I loved the way they did it here. Even when the food cooled a bit, it still wasn't hard or difficult to chew. So they received two stars just for getting that part perfect. The steamed rice was good- slightly sticky and I could eat it with my chopsticks. The egg roll was crispy, crunchy, and not greasy at all. I'll dine in again.

King Mao delivered exactly on what was promised. For an exotic food business operating out of a strip mall on Fort Campbell, this place holds it own and is a viable takeout option if you're in a fairly lazy mood. Yeah, the fried rice was a bit "meh"...I'll actually take the blame for ordering that in the first place, since Chinese fried rice is rarely all that flavorful even on the best of occasions. The Singapore Mai Fun was a step up though, with about as much spice level as one could hope to encounter in Clarksville. I genuinely enjoyed eating that dish, in a Chinese-comfort-food sort of way. The crab rangoons were not bad, either. One thing you can't say that King Mao skimps on is the portion sizes. I can say with confidence that two full-size entrees should be enough to feed a family of 4-5...or a couple for 2-3 meals of leftovers. Also a bonus: check out the legit arowana in the aquarium while you're waiting to pick up your food!

Not great but not awful either. The lo mein smells and tastes like feet. The dumplings are weird and not what I'm used to. They have a mush inside of them. Doesn't look like meat. A lot of food for price. Would eat here if desperate. Not spicy like it says but j feel like it's that way every take out place.

  • Vincent A.

Pretty good food for the price and the portions are huge. The Kung pao chicken is my favorite and the garlic chicken was great as well. Only two dishes I really get so can't speak for the rest of the menu.

Out of all the Chinese food I've tried this by far is one of the best ones. Delivery takes awhile about an 1 hour or so.

  • LaRae L.

First time I had it, it was mediocre at best. Got it delivered to my house the 2nd round and it was amazing. 3rd time was definitely not a charm as my fried rice was hard and barely edible. So, this place is hit or miss.

  • Charlie M.

Got the orange chicken. It was very "orangey" but not spicy like the menu said. Maybe next time i'll remind them to kick it up a notch. Portion size was outstanding. I had enough for lunch the next day.

  • Bryan S.

The chow mein is white chicken and sliced celery suspended in a flavorless clear goo. No noodles in sight. The szechuan chicken is bland, without spice or strong flavor. The wonton soup smells like dirty dish water and tastes like a bad thing smells. Chopsticks behind hardees is much better.

King Mao is the last place in Clarksville that I would tried to eat most places completely dirty. 1st off get the fried dumplings and tried the pork and mushrooms but all in all real ingredients And the test of a place is the shrimp and the were good and fresh not rubbery and over cooked. eat at this place if ya like it but do the take out

Ordered some take out from here yesterday based on previous Yelpers comments and ratings, as I was staying with my daughter and didn't know any place in the area. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for suggesting this place. We were happy with the food we got. My wife got Cashew Chicken. Literally scores of cashews and she liked the dish. I am not a big fan of Chinese food as I am not a vegetable fan. They were very happy to make me a dish of just spicy beef, mushrooms, onions, peppers and water chestnuts. Very good! Lots of large pieces of all of the items. Next time we are in town and want Chinese, this will be where we get it from. And oh yes, don't forget to try their homemade sauces!

Food is just your plain Jain Chinese food. Employees are friendly and the food quality is alright. Delivery is time consuming and carry out is fast.

King Mao has been dependably consistent with great food and portions. I used to want to go to the buffets, but that is no longer a destination when I want some asian food. The prices are fair, the food is quick to come out of the kitchen cooked to order, and they even deliver if you want them to. That beats the hell out of going to a buffet and not getting fresh food if you are not there at peak times. I have eaten there and gotten take away. The environment is sparse, but clean so I have had no problem staying there. I have to laugh at Christopher's review and his description of some of the locals that visit the establishment. I can honestly say that I have never been uncomfortable there, but then I'm an average everyday kind of guy so I probably just fit in! If you are looking for great food, quick service, and a fair price, then this is the place for you to go. You will not be let down.

New to the area and chose this place because of the reviews. I ordered my food at 1538pm and it's been over an hour. Called the shop and was told that the driver left awhile ago. He called the driver to find out where he was and called me right back. I never understood why delivery could take so long when it takes 5 mins to make the food. I ordered the General Tso meal and the beef and broccoli meal. $21.00 plus free wontons. They forgot my S&S sauce. The general was good, but the fried rice has a weird taste to it. For the price it's okay.

Based on the reviews on Yelp, ordered from King Mao and I have to say that I was not disappointed what so ever. We ordered the Chicken LoMein, Sweet & Sour Chicken and the Mushrooms & Chicken! Delicious! Everything was Hot and i had left overs for 2 days! I have also have to agree that the place was very clean, staf was friendly (and spoke english so my order was perfect) and I was in and out in a jiffy! Will be Back Soon!

In the last shell of a sad and dismal strip mall lives King Mao. As the New Providence area of Clarksville, TN continues it's depressing slide into a land of check cashing stores and Everything is $1 outlets, King Mao offers a ray of sunshine on an otherwise bleak region. So, let's be honest and up front. You're not going to sit and eat there; you could, but you're not going to. Call in your order, get in, get out, avoid the throngs of New Providence's finest... or should we say worst. But, keep this in mind when you do order: You're going to get a lot of food... Loads... I'm a big guy, I can put it away, but wow man. I got a combo plate of Gen Tso, pork fried rice and an egg roll. I suppose I could have eaten it all if I tried, but I enjoy post-dinner comfort, not misery. The girl ordered shrimp and vegetables with brown sauce (entree, not combo) and it came with steamed white rice. We got the "buy 2 egg rolls get one free" deal, we also got an order of fried dumplings. Our bill came to just $24 bucks after tax, and since we spent over $20, we got a free order of crab rangoon (which was awesome). So, recap: -Gen Tso Combo w/ pork fried rice and one eggroll -Shrimp with Chinese vegetables and steamed rice -3 Egg Rolls (buy 2 get one free) -6 Fried Dumplings -6 Crab Rangoon $24? c'mon... you can't beat that. I'd like to give King Mao some props for the two young guys working the counter. They were friendly and knowledgeable and English was their first language. Personally, I don't care who takes my order anywhere, white, black, Asian, Native American, who cares? I only care about getting it right. So, placing someone at the counter who has absolutely no trouble with English is a huge plus. King Mao isn't going to win any awards for world's best Chinese food. It's good, it's satisfying, it's filling. Hooray! Are you going to lean back in your chair and moan in ecstasy? Probably not. Are there things they could improve upon? Probably. But lets' be honest, for 24 bucks, Martin Yan isn't cooking your food. I'll sum up. When my household orders Chinese to go, we're getting King Mao. 'Nuff said.

I was pleasantly surprise when I saw that a Chinese food establishment was going in this space. There are not a lot of to-go options on this side of town besides fast food. I went recently and placed my order. They were so busy that this took a few minutes, but they were very nice about it. Was told that it would be about 15 min or so. There are places to sit and eat, but all the business this evening was to-go orders. I was also shocked to see a drive up window. That is a nice touch too. Especially in the colder months. For the price, we got a ton of food. I had two things that kept me from giving a full 5 stars. 1. the appetizer platter we got had some good things in it (the egg rolls were wonderful) but many of the items were tough and over cooked (the shrimp, the ribs, the teriyaki chicken). I think part of this is just because they were so busy. I was sad because the chicken on the stick is usually my favorite part and it was dry. 2. I was supposed to receive free cheese wantons for my order being over $20, and they weren't included. I guess they were free, but I would have used my 10% off coupon instead if I knew I wasn't going to get them. Overall, this was a good place- the food was quick and hot, the people were friendly, and the place seemed clean. It was also interesting to see the food being made in the kitchen.

From a picky Chinese food lover, this place is awesome. The portions are huge! They also have great deals, like free food when you spend a certain amount, BOGO. Sweet and sour was great, as well as their crab rangoons. Can't wait to try some more dishes!

This place is the best in Clarksville. The staff go above and beyond. My food was great and when I ate in I actually got to eat off of real plates!! I just wish they delivered to me. The best of the best!

This is pretty decent Chinese restaurant...probably the best in Clarksville, though I've been to a few. I had sesame chicken with roasted pork fried rice and an egg roll. I hate egg rolls, but King Mao's egg rolls? I do like them. Their sesame chicken is a bit spicy, unlike others....but it wasn't OMG spicy that I couldn't eat. Their fried rice was good, too.....roasted pork may have been a bit rubbery though. I would definitely go back there.

I have tried several chinese places, eat in and take out, and this place is the BOMB!! I always get great service, the order is always right and its FRESH!! Buffets can have all the other business because i would rather have fresh food than food thats been sitting "warming" for hours. If you order enough food, and it doesnt have to be alot, you always get more than you can eat (i always have left overs) and they give you free things if your order is around 20 bucks..........well worth the call!!!!

Simply one of the best Chinese restaurants in Clarksville. It's a shame they don't have Moo Shu Beef.

Best Chinese take out on this side of town!!! The staff were friendly and fast, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. My room mate and I went here for dinner and were very happy with everything. I recommend the General Szu's Chicken and asking to make it spicier.

I have ordered here a few times before, and it was always rather tasty. Upon my last order (7/4), A HAIR accompanied my last order of orange chicken.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
