Great choices. Great food!! Nice atmosphere and the nicest staff around. Went here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and everything was delicious. And, you can't beat the view and the sound of the waves crashing.

Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 View/Location: 5/5 I spent 3 days at the Pleasant View Inn and ate at The Kitchen at Pleasant View every night. I was with family and friends who are very fond of this place, otherwise I would not have returned after the first night. While most of the staff is very friendly and attentive, the food is way overpriced. Steak: NY Strip ordered Rare ($35) - it came out medium. Tasted okay, but not worth $35. Flat Iron steak ordered Rare ($28), it came out already sliced and cooked to a medium-well. Mushroom sauce on the flat iron was tasty, but had a little too much flour in it. Seafood: Steamed 3 lb. lobsters for $85 ($110 if you wanted it baked and stuffed). That is just plain outrageous. The steamed lobster was mediocre at best. The lobsters are stored in newspaper and apparently steamed in it as well, that left the tail meat with a very bad taste to it from the newspaper ink. Tail meat was also very chewy. Overall very disappointing and most certainly not worth $85. Oysters were good, no complaints. Bacon wrapped scallops appetizer is very good. ($13 for 4) Clams on the half shell were good. Lobster Ravioli is hands down the best item on the menu (which coincidentally is not made in house, it is made by a company called Venda Ravioli.) Other: Gluten free wraps - gross do not order it, tastes and chews like card board. Caprese salad is delicious.

We ate here because it was convenient. I probably should have checked the reviews first. For starters, our server forgot to ask us if we wanted drinks, and later, forgot to offer dessert. Disappointing because it was my hubby's birthday and some cake would have been nice. We ordered the scallops to share and I had the clam chowder to start. When the chowder arrived, I was skeptical. It was really thick, more like a stew than a chowder, but it tasted really good. I think they seasoned it with cumin. It would have been great had I not encountered a bit of CRAB shell at the bottom. What in tarnation was crab doing in my clam chowder?! Next up, the scallops. To give them some credit, the scallops were cooked perfectly. The rest? Not so much. The accompanying risotto was undercooked and much too creamy. Honestly, I make better risotto at home and I have ZERO chef training. They also topped the whole dish with these burnt, scallions which smelled great and tasted like burnt scallions. The best part of our meal was probably my son's grilled cheese and fries. I spent the rest of our weekend better researching restaurants so we would never have to eat there again.

Nice view in the small dining room. NE Clam chowder was pretty good. I had the Westerly pizza. It was a little greasy. Others had the Flat Iron steak. Sauce was good on steak. Nice size portions. One big issue four meals arrived and the in 10 minutes the other four arrived. A little pricey too. Came back two weeks later. Tried to the bar and found it was closed for a group that was staying at the hotel. My question is how can you advertise you have a bar for guest but you close it for a selected few? Where these famous people, No. They looked like they rolled out of the local trailer park. Did you tell your other guest the bar would be closed to this drunk group, No. If you are going to host a private group then have a private room. So we went to the main dining room for dinner. Mistake. Had the half chicken and it was not cooked all the way.

The beach is casual. I get it. Here's the thing though, when I'm paying $13 for a drink and $26 for four scallops and some risotto, I sure as heck to not expect to be in the midst of a parade of bedraggled, bathing suit wearing cretins. The outdoor seating area can be accessed from the hotel's musty smelling lobby, and to call this a well-travelled route would be to damn with faint praise. Literally dozens and dozens and dozens of people slogged by us in all manner of beach attire. Again, bathing costume attire is a personal choice, but, for the love of all that is holy, who walks through a restaurant in fashion choices that can best be described as unfortunate? The staff was wonderfully attentive and the food wasn't bad, but none of that mattered in light of the briny parade we were forced to endure.

The Kitchen at the Pleasant View Inn sits right over the beach, so my wife and I elected to eat outside, so we could see and hear the ocean. Unfortunately, the view was spoiled by the large rocks surrounding the outside dining area, so the only way to sea the ocean from our table was to stand on it. On a positive note, the service was outstanding. Our waiter made sure that our drinks and water were always full, and took great care of us. The food was good. I started with the oysters, which were some of the smallest oysters I have ever seen. Couldn't they have waited for them to go through puberty before they were harvested? They were served with cocktail sauce and some garlicky oil. No hot sauce. The cocktail sauce was good, as it had a nice ratio of horseradish. My wife had the shrimp, which she enjoyed. We then split an order of calamari, which was delicious. Included with the calamari were lightly breaded and deep fried slices of lemon. It was a bit odd. For our entrees, I had the salmon, which was over cooked and dry. The rice that it came with had been sitting on the plate so long I initially picked it all up with my fork. Once I broke it apart it was just rice. Nothing special. My wife had scallops, which were large, moist and tasty. Did I mention the view? I left out the best part. Since the Pleasant View Inn is also a hotel, the outdoor dining area was the shortest route from the beach and many guest rooms to the bar. So while we were enjoying our dinner, we were regaled with a continual parade of the hotel's guests walking back and forth to the beach. While I don't mind running sand-covered teens, sagging old people, families with small children, people giving their friends the finger in their selfies on the beach, I certainly don't expect that type of atmosphere when I'm paying $26 for an entree. After finishing our meal, we asked for the manager to let him know how we felt about the atmosphere. It was clear to us that he had heard the complaint before, would smile and nod as we made ours, and would change nothing for future patrons. My advice: don't bother. Or, if you do decide that you must dine on their miniature oysters, eat in the dining room, which was set off to the side of the lobby. If you choose to eat outdoors, you might as well be eating in the lobby.

had been here before and loved it. this time, the food was meh and the prices high. the location is lovely. the noise level in the main dining room is horrible. needed to ask for another table in the smaller room, which was adequate. the dishes were described beautifully but the finished dishes were bland and over-done. the service was pleasant.

Not impressed, I heard some folks talking about getting steamers here, so I thought I would give it a try, well as you walk in there is no one to greet you, so I stepped into the bar to see if you were supposed to wait to be seated or just seat yourself, the crowd in there was pretty seedy, and after standing there for a few minutes an employee walked by, and I stopped him and asked, it was seat yourself. Besides a few fried seafood options and lobster roll there was not much else by the way of seafood, and certainly no steamers. I eat at lunch time so perhaps they ate served at dinner? I ended up with an over done (ordered mid-rare, got well done) over priced (12.50) burger. Would not seek this place out again.
