Nice hibachi experience for groups or couples. The beef and seafood were prepared nicely. Pricing was reasonable and server was attentive. We will be back in the future

Hibachi was ok but overpriced We ordered some actual Japanese food which was terrible. Of course chefs aren't Japanese but this was a mess. Wait staff wasn't particularly nice or helpful. Wouldn't recommend or go back ever.

York roll is phenomenal. Best sushi in all of York. A must visit! Hibachi is great as well.

Well it's 2 hrs after our meal there and my wife is bent over the toilet throwing up and sh*tting her brains out. We shared three rolls and the only difference was she had the Peppered Tuna app. I'm calling the health board tomorrow and then Fujihana's management. AND THE ONLY REASON THERES A STAR IS THIS STUPID APP WONT LET YOU POST WITHOUT A STAR!!!!!!!!

The staff is very good and on top of everything. The decor is typically. We had hibachi and the chef was skilled with all the usual tricks. My problem started with the extra charges for fried rice and noodles $2 & $3 respectively. Then I was dissatisfied with the over cooked meat and sea scallops. So I would have to don't bother.

I love coming to this place to during lunch time because it is quiet and the sushi is excellent. The hibachi isn't really open yet, so you don't have to hear them banging on the metal tables with metal spatulas. They have a full bar, so you can enjoy a beer while you wait for your meal. It's not only the sushi that makes this place great, I would say that everything they serve is awesome. I'm not into the whole hibachi thing myself, but other reviews suggest it is fun for the family.

As usual the sushi is fresh. ...had the spider roll and was still warm. Scallops are not as big as what I've had in other places but still fresh.

I have had some pretty bad sushi here on more than one occasion. The first time the tuna was actually smelly! Very rubbery and fatty. It was old and not good quality. FYI fresh fish has no taste or smell.

I can NEVER get enough of their sushi. The fireball roll is my absolute favorite. My husband and I always share a special roll and get hibachi -- mine is usually chicken and I have no complaints. Spend that extra $2 for the fried rice -- it's so worth it. Hibachi comes with soup and salad, which are excellent! I've only ever had a bad experience once (horrible waiter, hopefully they fired him) but we keep going back and have had great service since. If you're looking for birthday or celebratory fun, the hibachi tables are worth the wait. If you don't feel like sitting around, regular tables are almost always open and they'll take you right back. Enjoy!

The hibachi is great for large or small groups and is always super fun. The lunch hibachi menu is much cheaper while you get the same portion size as the dinner too. The sushi rolls are also very good and an excellent choice for a cheap meal.

Great experience with the kids. Very friendly, clean and the food was great. This was our daughter's first experience at a hibachi and she LOVED it!

Great decor , quite and very intimate . Large sushi combinations with options of soups and salads free ! My date got habachi and it was huge ! Def recommend to those who are fresh sashimi lovers !

I have to drive 20 minutes away to get decent hibachi and sushi at Fujihana. Nice atmosphere and great food.

Review is for sushi / sashimi here. Quality is sadly low. And more sad is that most reviewers don't know what real sushi is. I guess Masa is the last hope for York. 2 stars is for the waitress who brought it up a star.

    (2)
  • Pao P.

Food is good so is the sushi...service is good too. The habachi cooks can't sing though, soo funny.

  • Keisha D.

Great service! Very clean wasn't a big fan of the fried rice. I loved their soup and salad. My waiter was very nice. I'll go back again one day

  • Jake S.

The sushi here is great! Very fresh and amply sized. Also, Fujihana is one of only three places in town you can get saki bombs... though the staff seemed confused when we started pounding on the table. The teppanyaki is really good too. I usually get the filet and shrimp, which is delicious. The chefs are entertaining and are quite liberal with the saki when squirting it across the table. Always a good time, but call ahead on the weekends.

Horrible, Horrible, Horrible...served me old fish eggs knowingly, taste so bad couldn't put another bite in my mouth. They offered to replace the item with fresh??? Well if you had fresh why didn't they serve it in the first place....

  • Charlie C.

I have been to quite a few of these types of places and the food is always about the same taste and quality. And this is no better or worse than any other. The real reason you go is the entertainment value of your hibachi master or what ever they call him. Ours was great....good knife work and very entertaining. I will say while the menu looks like a value compared to other teppanyaki places. BUT....they charge extra for the fried rice or noodles. Also the better places use shrimp to toss and catch in your mouth the lesser use veggies. This is a veggie place. Once you ad the fried rice or noodles the price is about the same as all the others. They do offer pork which I have not seen at other places. Food was good, service was good and it was entertaining. So if you do not put the bar real high...it is a good night out. They also have a full bar which for Asian places in the York to Gettysburg area is a rare thing.

I was pleasantly surprised by this establishment. We went on Christmas Eve because we had limited options (that were open), and it ended up being the best meal that we had all week. The service was friendly, the sushi was quality, the teppan-yaki was flavorful, and the prices reasonable. Will be going back, for sure...

I thought, how good can a restaurant in a strip mall be? I mean, seriously, quality Japanese food in York? Boy, was I wrong. This place is fantastic. You step inside and quickly forget that you are somewhere between pet food and office supplies. The decor is beautiful without being overdone. The staff is always courteous and prompt. We've had sushi and hibachi and both are excellent. The presentation of the food always enhances the meal. The sushi is fresh and delicious and the hibachi is entertaining and tasty. Five enthusiastic stars.

review is for sushi only....went here for the first time in a year or so and it seems like this place has gone downhill in quality a bit. DH and i each had the 3 sushi rolls for 9.95 lunch special which is a great price - no complaints there. service was good. however, it just seems like the quality and freshness of the rolls isn't what it used to be. i had boston roll - no flavor whatsoever...just tasted like iceberg lettuce. shrimp tempura roll and california rolls were ok - not the worst but nowhere near the best i've had -- just very very average. DH had eel cucumber roll which he reports was bland and two orders of salmon skin roll which had a similar effect. moral - maybe go here for lunch specials but i definitely would not pay the full dinner price for their sushi.

I had the Kani Salad which was excellent. This is one of my favorite appetizers at Sushi Rest, and they made it perfect and just the right size. I also had a Fire Roll which was done well. I can't wait to go there and try something else. I would love for any suggestions on other Sushi places to go that also serves non sushi lover food for my boyfriend, he's one of those lol.

Had our anniversary dinner here. Had a blackout due to nasty storm passing by. Server did not bother to check up on us throughout the meal. Had to constantly raise my had in the dark to get attention. Not once did she come over to see if we were alright. Server for 2 tables next to us took care of his customers the whole time. Was ready to checkout but manager said our meal was FREE since they do not know what we ordered and to just leave a tip for our server. Left a tip higher than 20% for our server when she did not deserve it. As for the sushi rolls we order, black dragon roll and regular sushi, it was very good. Shumai and gyoza was very tasty. My son liked the chicken teriyaki, though he could not see what he was eating. The calamari was very good. I would have left 4 stars for the food but the service sucked.

  • Steve W.

Excellent Japanese place. High quality food and large portions. Everything is better tasting than other hibachi places. Consistency is very good. Ginger dressing tastes amazing. I like the chicken hibachi best.

This one might be a 3 in CA, but it's a 4 here in York. Pretty good sushi, and a decent set of hibachi tables (where they cook in front of you and make a show of it). The Hibachi should be done with a group of maybe 4 or more. The interior is nice and the atmosphere is a little more classy than most places.

  • Colleen S.

Okay went back at least five times since my last review. I am upping it a star simply because last week their sushi presentation blew me away. A very large group of us went for sushi and hibachi. Sushi wise they served some rolls in martini glasses and have a whole new addition to the menu coming out. Atleast 15 new chef rolls being added. The sweetheart roll is to die for (spicy tuna topped with tuna shaped like hearts), three different kinds of dragon rolls (we tried the black one and the mango one, both nice). Everyone really enjoyed their sushi. Hibachi is just hit and miss for me its fresh veggies although not as seasoned as I like but we enjoyed the show, you must want a lot of interaction because they will toss food at you the whole night, not to mention squirt sake in your mouth til you are drunk (might not always happen but last week the chef was mad, in a good way). Service was super friendly, with a party of 25 we had atleast 4 servers asking us if we needed anything at all times. Was a really good night, great sushi and for a great price.

  • Jason E.

The best sushi I've had in York. Our sashimi was served atop shaved ice. That was a first for me, and I've probably eaten sushi at a dozen or two restaurants. They also have a decent hibachi. The interior is fairly fancy. In a city with few restauraunts for bringing out-of-towners, business lunches or to celebrate an anniversary - Fuji Hana is a nice addition.

    (5)
  • Bill D.

Excellent food, fresh fish, great presentation, pleasant service! Fuji Hana is nothing like what you would expect by looking at the front door. It's like stepping into a swank restaurant in Japan! Sushi was tasty, the miso soup was authentic japanese. Didn't try the Hibachi but from the sounds of the people nearby the food must be good. The staff was 80% plus Japanese and the rest of Asian descent. Which really doesn't matter but does add to the ambience of the dining experience.

    (5)
  • Carlos A.

I don't do sushi, but the hibachi is good. Last visit, they rushed us out as soon as we finished eating.

Well I've been to a lot of japanese places before and have tried this one once before. Didn't get the warm and fuzzy feeling from it the first time but I thought I would give it another try. Should have saved my $89 for me and my two kids. We had three sodas and three entrees. I guess it should have been a clue when the waitress ask us if we wanted white rice or fried rice because I received the bill there was an additional charge for fried rice. Speaking of fried rice I asked for no eggs in my rice so the chef made mine and my kids rice with no eggs and no other seasoning but I still had to pay full price. the food was also heavily seasoned with garlic but that didn't cover up the fish taste that everything had. The worst part is no one at the table order any type of fish that would cause cross contamination so to me that means my steak and vegetables were back in the kitchen being improperly handled. Yuck!

    (1)
  • Chad P.

Decently authentic Japanese food. Polite and timely service. Food was fresh and hot. My boyfriend got a crispy pork and egg dish (katsu) and I got the veggie tofu teriyaki. The salad and miso they came with were your standard weak hibachi strip mall choices. I wish there were other side options for diners not ordering off the hibachi menu. Would come again! Thanks

  • Sara G.

I would of given the restaurant 4 stars, but the service I received on my first visit was horrible. The food was great, but our server constantly avoided our table while checking up on the tables around us. I had to call her over for a refill and the check, and it didn't seem busy. And as I said before the other tables were getting plenty of attention. However, if you're looking for great food this is the place to go, perhaps next time I'll sit at the hibachi and receive a better service experience.

Fujihanna is probably, all things considered, my favorite restaurant in York. (Which probably explains why I eat out of town so often.) Not to take anything away from this place though. The food is good, the interior is quite nice, and the service is OK. It is located in a fairly nasty strip mall, located between an adult bookstore and, of course since this is York, Pennsylvania, a dollar store. The bar area is small, but open and nice, and actually a good place to stop by for a quiet happy hour because of some really cheap drink specials. (I say quiet because there never seems to be anyone at the bar.) There is a hibachi area, and separate sushi bar and sushi dining room. (I'm the wrong person to ask about the sushi; I'm not a big fan, though I have had it here, and I thought it was fine. I have friends like it here a lot.) I go for the hibachi tables. In case anyone already doesn't know what that means, I'll explain briefly. There is a room full of 'U' shaped, heated tables, which your party and others are seated around. (Keep in mind, unless you have a large party, you will be sharing a table with other people.) A waitress brings you drinks, soup, and salad, and then a trained hibachi chef comes to make the meals of everyone at the table right there in front of you. He does it in a theatrical style, doing a few standard bits; tossing knives in the air, tossing stray vegetables in your mouth, spinning eggs, creating a fiery "onion volcano" with a sliced onion and alcohol. It's a very entertaining way to have a meal. This particular restaurant seems pretty much like every other hibachi place I've been to (the granddaddy of these is of course the chain Benihana, who started these in the 60s; I remember a "Mad Men" episode where they visit one. If you want to try Benihana, the closest is Harrisburg. I've been there once, and liked it.) Here at Fujihanna, the squirting sake into people's mouths they do is a bit much. It was fun the first time, but I usually end up covered in sake. I've never seen a rowdy crowd or behavior that a few other people have mentioned. I've never seen anything besides families and quiet couples. All in all, a fun place.

Awesome. Amazing. Asian thru and thru!! Okay, so I didnt have high expectations for a hibachi place in york pattie town, but this place was quite ritzy from the moment you step inside. It was so fancy it seemed out of place! And the exterior is deceptive. It also felt very much like a 'special occasion' restaurant! We were worried that we would have to sit at a hibachi table (where they cook in front of you, with 6 other strangers at the same table, since we went as a single couple). But they have a regular dining area as well as a sushi area. The food was really good! The sushi was amazingly fresh and tasty!! I even loved the little gyoza (potstickers) and would've gotten two orders if we didnt already order full meals AND sushi! This is gonna be one of my tried and true places! Definitely one of two of the best asian places in York (the other is Tokyo Diner, which quite surprisingly holds it's own, but on a much smaller scale.) Minor, minor drawbacks... I thought the dressing was a bit sweet like russian dressing... and they dont ask how you want your beef teriyaki cooked... some places have the option of requesting medium rare. That would've been superb if it was available! maybe next time I will ask! My BF also didnt like the fried rice cause it had too many white onions in it. Picky picky! I devoured his portion the next day! hehehe! Oh, and supposedly they have a Full Bar! I didnt see this til we were leaving! Next time I will have to order some mixed drinks as well!

I enjoy going to Fujihana for their sushi always fresh and tasty. My favorite are the spiderball rolls, they're huge. I had the hibachi once and I wasn't impressed, but that doesn't stop me from going there for sushi.

Before you think "One star?! Harsh, lady!", lemme 'splain... First, the positives: really beautiful inside. Gorgeous waterfall display over their restaurant sign. Reasonable prices. The mediums: the food was good, but not great. There are other, much better options for sushi in York. Plus, the hibachi is something that you could easily cook at home by yourself with a little soy sauce and sesame oil. Service is a little confusing... we were never really sure who was taking our order, who had brought us our drinks, and who we tipped. They do some fun things at the hibachi, but nothing really outstanding or uncommon for any Japanese steakhouse. I will say that the one dipping sauce they offer is killer-good. Like, ridiculously good. I'd-buy-it-if-they-bottled-it good Which leaves the ugly: the whole squiring-alcohol-into-people's-mouths is a nice shtick, but one that gets old. I actually felt concern regarding sharing the road home with some of our table-mates. I don't think anyone gets cut off on the alcohol, which leads to some unsavory moments at the table you happen to be sharing with sloppy folks. One "gentleman" pulled his girlfriend's breasts out at the table. Another equally classy guy spewed his alcohol ALL OVER the hibachi. I've seen better behavior at strip clubs. No action or intervention from wait staff or the hibachi chef. You know how it is when you're in a restaurant/coffee shop/whatever and everyone feels sort of held hostage in a way by the obnoxious party next to them, so that their entire evening is ruined and you feel sort of small and impotent to stop them or say something? Well, it was sort of like that. My husband and I did, in fact, talk to the manager and let him know everything that occurred... who said "Okay, thanks." No apology, no explanation, and no satisfying resolution. Not sure if it was a language barrier or not (please don't think me narrow-minded for saying so... check out my pic: I'm Asian) but needless to say, we were not happy customers. It's worth mentioning that we ate there on a Friday night with our daughter. Not at 8, or 9 pm, but at 6pm. There were other families with children of varying age there, as well as older adults. I've read a lot of the (generally very positive) reviews posted here, and so was hesitant to post something negative, but isn't that what this site is about? To be fair, this incident occurred several months ago. We haven't been back since and have no plans to, but here's to hoping they've cleaned up their act. If I read enough positive reviews regarding the service, we'll give it another shot at our love. I'd love to be proven wrong.

Amazing! Just walking in this establishment was breathtaking. A dramatic entrance room, with lounge and full bar, greets clients with a sense of escape from York PA. Past the bar area stands a floor to ceiling waterfall surrounded by greenery and beautiful decorations, dividing the lounge and the dining area. To the left is a large open room filled with shining Hibachi Tables and beautiful decor. Past the dining area is a Sushi Bar and sushi dining area. The separation of dining areas provides a feeling of space and privacy for clients. My date and I sampled various sushi and entrees, along with hot sake and desert. The menu is great, providing a large selection of sushi, sashimi, dinners, tempura, teriyaki, udon, don buri, and desserts. The bar menu is FANTASTIC. Hot sake, cold sake, beer, wine, and liquor to accompany any palette. As far as pricing is considered, it is extremely moderate and affordable for any budget. Additionally, the hours of operation extend until 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. Perfect for the after dinner cocktail experience. In conclusion, I have found my new favorite place.

This is a great addition to dining in York! Love the hibatchi style grill and sushi was even very tasty. The staff was attentive and I sort of felt like I was at Benihana. The only drawback was the bar. We were waiting for a table and decided to get some cocktails. My friend ordered a blue martini and it was so awful she couldn't drink even a sip. So we expressed our displeasure and the bartender wouldn't comp her another drink! He fully charged us for the horribly made cocktai. I've NEVER been to a restaurant where this has happened! My recommendation is to stick to the food and the bottled drinks. The food was delicious but extremely filling. You may want to walk home afterwards.

    Awesome, awesome sushi.

  • Jerri B.

We are regulars there for the sushi special (5-7PM). The sushi is always good and fresh. The service is also good. We sit in the dining room so there is no issue with noise, etc. that accompanies any Japanese steak house grill area. I highly recommend it for sushi. We also have eaten in the steak house and found that food very good also.

  • Jack P.

Definitely not an upscale, classy hibachi restaurant. 'Chefs' barely touch their knives and do nothing more than your standard onion volcano, bang their spatulas on the grill (very obnoxious and loud), and stir-fry your food. They also seem to purposefully attempt to drown you via squirt bottles of very cheap and watered down saki. The service is horrible and it took us 2 hours to complete our meal from the time we walked in the door, with reservations. All things considered, this restaurant is better suited for the rowdy, drink saki until you almost vomit, young and unrefined crowd.

  • Brian S.

Our cook Steve was amazing, went with a group of 9 on new years eve 5 kids and Steve the chef was outstanding. Prices were reasonable, drinks were cold and food was fresh most important place felt clean. I would go back and request Steve again. Only gripe was the $2 up charge on fried rice, that was $18 for fried rice that no I e really wanted or ate, next time I need to read the menu closer. If not for that would have given 4 stars

  • Aaron H.

Not the best sushi in York but it isn't bad. Ordered takeout and didn't have one of our appetizers in the bag although it was on the receipt. The bag was already stapled shut so I didn't open it to check at the restaurant. Called them, as it was not convenient for me to return and they took my name and said to mention it the next time for a free appetizer. We'll see if that happens.

Absolutely the best place in York. From the outside it doesn't look like much and the decor isn't that impressing, but the service and food is amazing. I come here every time I come here and would take anyone here. Saying you're the best in York may not be much but this place is definitely worth the trip.

    (5)
  • PJ D.

For an out-of-town sushi snob, I have to say I was quite impressed with the sushi here. The location is awful - strip mall from hell. But, inside, at the back of an otherwise unremarkable teppanyaki place, is a little magic for the road-weary traveler. The sushi quality was excellent as was the presentation. Even the uni tasted better than in many places in DC. All in all, well worth the side trip if you happen to crave sushi in York, PA.
