While South Eugene liberals parallel park their Priuses in front of Cafe Zenon, just across the river a whole legion of folks who work with their hands find themselves cozying up to the counter at Steve's Breakfast and More just off Main Street. Springfield, the hotly contested/denied strip club capital of our proud nation, was made to host such an unassumingly delicious diner. Making the trip regardless of socioeconomic status is highly recommended. I found myself devouring a greasy gut busting breakfast earlier this week at Steve's. The menus comes stapled in the corner, soiled by maple syrup and bacon grease. Everything on said menu, including french toast platters the size of Rhode Island, are less than $7. There are more than a few breakfast options that are less than $4, a welcome sight in 2K11 where an omelet now runs $9 and up at most breakfast joints. I made the easy decision of 3 scrambled eggs with bacon, cheese and mushrooms and a pancake the size of a car rim for $3.95. My coffee cup stayed full and the staff was friendly. A few of the entertaining oddities at Steve's include: -An old projection TV in the corner with a distorted picture -One lady near the TV had ordered a side of french fries. It was 10am. -The front door looks like it was acquired off a mobile home -The padding in the booth is about as thick as an iPhone 4 Steve's Breakfast is the kind of restaurant that you'd want to drink a beer with. It doesn't even have to fake enjoying shots of whiskey, it drinks a bottle of Evan Williams every night before bed because it tastes good. In 2012, vote with your coronary arteries, and grab a bite to eat at Steve's Breakfast and More.

A friend took me here to eat this morning. Five hours later, I am depressed that I overate such low quality food. But with the portion size, you have no option but to overeat. This place embodies every negative stereotype about Springfield: unattractiveness, obesity, grease, and methodone. Usually I love diner food, but there was something seriously wrong with this place. Piling on loads of frozen, fried and altogether prison-grade ingredients does not constitute a meal. It's really quite frightening how colossal the plates are compared to the price - it's unnatural. To top it off, there was a huge TV playing some day time television, either Hard Copy or Maury; something like that. Perhaps that is the 'more' aspect of Steve's.

This place is the shit. I wish we had a diner with food this amazing where I live. Food enjoyed: -Hashbrown stack (I think that's what it was called). So delicious. The bacon is outstanding. The portion is HUGE, so share or take the leftovers home! -Denver Omelet - Again, huge & delicious. Even their salsa was good. -Biscuits & gravy - Wow... really good. I love b&g and this didn't disappoint. It was pretty obvious when we were there that the place was full of "regulars" and we were obvious not regulars, but our service was so good! The two ladies who served us were super friendly, I really can't complain about a thing.

This place is right next to Goodfellas or part of Goodfellas; I'm not sure of the nexus or any connection whatsoever, but I like Steves Breakfast and More. I'm surprised this place hasn't gotten a review on Yelp as of yet. Perhaps the patrons of this place aren't Yelpers? Well, Steves is really good. There are plenty of breakfast specials, which I thoroughly enjoy. I got the steak strips with hash brown and 3 eggs and toast. I could've gotten a pancake instead of toast, but I thought the steak, hashbrowns, and 3 eggs were more than enough for me. I'm pretty sure my meal didn't cost more than $10. What a deal, not to mention, delicious. The steak was sort of country fried steak with a mix of onions and green peppers. It was sheer home-style delicious. Some might say unhealthy, but heck, I liked it. My companion got the crepe special, which looked tasty also, and probably a lot healthier than my meal. I will have to go back to Steves, but that means actually waking up at a decent hour. The restaurant seems to have a southern New Orleans theme, which was pretty neat. The coffee mugs and china are all mismatched, which gives the place a welcoming feel. I like it. The lady servers are friendly and nice. The menu isn't fancy at all, which I liked. It's straightforward and to the point.

I actually really enjoyed this place for what it was. Sure it was a little dilapidated and the TV was always playing a commercial that was projected from a dimly lit screen but I really did enjoy it. The food was really nice and came in jumbo portions. The breakfasts are extremely cheap :) I would go back any day!

I like this place. Its quaint, good 'ol american breakfast place. The portions are humongous! Not even exaggerating but well priced. The biggest chicken friend steak I've ever seen, the whole meal came in 2 plates, one exclusively for the chicken fried steak, and the other plate had hash, 3 eggs, and toast. I advice the ladies to split or share their meals with someone. Service was really good. It was this nice lady, who was very attentive with filling up our coffees and didn't even have to ask her for a box. We told she read our minds, and she's quick to response "we don't do small here". She was a charming lady. The restaurant itself was old, needs to be updated, but I like that it has homey feel to.

I have really enjoyed the food here, but I have to complain about the lack of real half and half or cream for coffee. I really can't enjoy my breakfast coffee without it. I haven't been back in a long time and that's why.

Have eaten here several times - I have a friend who lives in the Washburne District who loves the place. Nothing fancy here, just your basic truck stop grub. Their food is ok, maybe 2 stars, but they slide to a 1 because of the atmosphere. There's definitely a place in my heart for funky little greasy spoon diners, but I scratched this place off my list after my husband & I spent an entire meal being subjected to a loud and unavoidable conversation consisting entirely of racist/sexist/homophobic/uber right wing crazy opinions incited by the FOX news "stories" pouring forth from that big screen TV. We kept thinking they'd move on to another subject, or for God's sake STFU, but it only got worse. Sure, everybody has a right to their political opinions, but when the owner/cook and waitress join right in with the loudmouth customers and think it's cool to serve up the eggs with a big fat side of unwelcome, ignorant opinions, I'm outta there. On the other hand, if you think Art Robinson would make a nifty President if he were just a little more conservative, you might just love this place...

If I could give this place 0 stars I would!!! It sucked from the very start! The wait staff was not that friendly. It took way to long to get waited on and the food was terrible! It was inedible. Had to send it back. Asked for extra crispy hash browns but they can out ice cold. The eggs were also cold and not edible. I was able to eat my toast tho. When we were finished, we were totally ignored at the register when we tried to pay. While waiting to pay I was able to see the kitchen. If the health department could see that disaster they would shut this down!!! It was the most disgusting sight. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!

Damned fine bargain........$6.99 for a meatloaf sando and choice of soup, salad, fries......I got soup, and was expecting a cup? Uh, no it came with a bowl of cream of broccoli soup. Sando had a 3/4" slab of moist, flavorful meatloaf, cheese, bacon, tomatoes on grilled bread. Sure it wasn't the greatest sandwich I've EVER had, but it was an amazing value for hearty filling comfort food......there was a line to get a seat, and I can see why. Service was fine, the waitress was friendly and efficient.

Seriously underwhelmed. Ate here previously and it was ok. Today it was NOT good. I had the Denver scramble. Asked to leave off the included pancake, but they brought it anyway. The ham and the eggs were burned while the peppers were underdone. The pancake was chewy. My husband's home fries were incinerated and his biscuit was dry. There was one waitress and one cook. The waitress was obviously feeling the pressure by her comments and the fact that she nearly ran into me as I was leaving and didn't apologize. Will not try this place again.

Greasy spoon at its finest. Would go again but would not make it a destination stop. Country fried steak was good but my eggs were not cooked properly and the hash browns were luke warm. Overall okay not note worthy.

Preface: to the readers who are looking for a new breakfast spot, prefer a lot of food, decent-low prices, and love the greasy spoon/diner feel.... search no more, Steve's has you covered. This is NOT sixth street grill. It's not remotely similar to anything "nice" or sparkling clean. This is a place you simply go to eat and sip some coffee. I've read all the other reviews and understand fully that this review business is highly subjective. I've passed this place by numerous times, simply because it looks pretty questionable. But now that I've given it a go... I'm glad that I did. I honestly find it hard to believe any of the negative reviews. My food (as well as my GF's) was great! I had their CFS (which was huge & deliciously crisp/seasoned), hashbrowns, a pancake, eggs over medium, bacon avocado scramble, and a side of B&G. The last item I ate, out of all this, was the hashbrowns... and they were still crispy, not at all soggy/greasy. The gravy was quite good! I actually made a point of thanking Steve and shaking his hand on my way out (he cooks much of what's eaten). I must've had 7 cups of coffee. It must be said that my coffee was always hot, and my cup never empty. The waitress that handled my table was courteous, prompt, and even a little humorous. The good: -LOTS of food for the money (value) -the flavor--on all of it, but especially the CFS -the service -the hot coffee -the character of the place. I love country diners The not so good: -parking isn't plentiful -seating isn't plentiful -there's not a location closer to my home. -eating here frequently will not improve your LDL I'm reaching. I am obviously loving my first experience here. But I'm pretty sure that anyone, given the appropriate expectations, couldn't help but love it here. I'm coming back a few more times, at least. There were three other meals I wanted just didn't have the room for them. :)

A bit of a dive. Greasy spoon place that really only serves Breakfast. Don't eat the burgers here. Silverware and cups were dirty yuck! Unless you REALLY like bland and greasy food I would avoid this place.

Four stars because we like eating lunch here. Our breakfast was good here. Not great, but good. The biscuit and gravy tasted good, but the biscuit was very dry, so it needed that gravy. My omelet could have used another minute or two on the heat to set those egg whites, but the flavor was there. Hubby had the layered hashbrowns. Again, a little dry. The came with eggs, bacon, cheese, sour cream, and salsa, but could've used a bit more sour cream and salsa. Their sourdough toast wasn't sour, but after having the sourdough toast at Addi's, no other sourdough compares! We prefer Steve's for lunch. They make super burgers and their fries are very tasty! We'll come back for lunch.

I absolutely love this place! One of my friends suggested we try it I really did not want to go all the way out to Springfield for some breakfast when we could just go to Sherries, but omg I am so glad we did, the food is amazing and super cheap. I wish they had one in Eugene. I will always go to Steve's given the choice. Super yummy food, affordable and nice people.

If you're looking for greasy, huge portions, & disgustingly gross seating, but not expecting yummy quality ingredients, Steve's Breakfast & more is the place for you. I just happened upon this place after doing a nearby search on Yelp. This place looks like a complete dive and it was. The service was great (sweet lady trying hard) and the portion size is ridiculous. However, the food was insanely greasy, the booths were cloth, that looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years, and I walked out of there smelling like I'd been standing over the fryer for hours. Do yourself a favor and drive on by this dump.
