Hop Valley was a great road-side stop during a drive from San Francisco to Portland. Their beers were very good (I particularly liked the Vanilla Porter), and the expansive food menu led me to a pleasing dinner as well. Also - our server offered to split our bill for us - how often does THAT happen? Awesome that you can get growlers of the beer to go - now I wished I had!

It's better than Applebee's but $4 and $5 for a pint of beer? I was expecting a better deal at the source or at least a good special. Nada on Sunday evening. The food was lackluster and the servers were glum and slow to provide beverages despite the lack of other patrons. I'll keep buying their brew at MOC but I'll save my restaurant dollar for someplace better. Parent's Note: It's kid friendly, complete with kid menus (average price of $4.95) and crayons. Highchairs were available.

Basically, it's a big brew pub that makes beer on premises like Steelhead or a couple other places do as well. Food offerings are burgers, ribs, sandwiches, and steaks. So far, so good... Hop Valley Brew does not appear to have any history of any kind (as the Eugene Burger Blog also pointed out). It just sorta popped up one day looking all fresh and new. They seem to have realized at some point how this feels a bit "empty", so now they have added some photos on the wall which attempt to simulate history: photos of some of the staff and premises which have been heavily photoshopped to make them look old and faded, then printed on some sort of canvas and frame, and finally attached to the wall with four big shiny Home Depot screws. Wow. Convincing... In terms of hardware, Hop Valley has everything you would expect to find in a big chain restaurant. Fancy uniforms, complex computer ordering systems, a full line of Hop Valley branded clothing and knick-knacks for customers to purchase, a super fancy website, etc. They also got their own custom building and own parking lot. It appears the C.O.O. of Chili's saved up all of his money and poured it into this place. (Too bad he did not also recruit the Chili's marketing director to join the venture in the planning stages. All of the following mistakes could have been avoided with a talented strategic planner.) Layout-wise, it's a miss. Booths are lined up against the windows, with some of the booths getting strong sunlight and some getting none at all. Why didn't they think about this and place the booths properly? Aside from the train-car-like line of booths, the rest of the seating is tables and chairs scattered around a big open area in the middle. Definitely I would not be happy sitting at one of those exposed tables. The ceiling is acoustic tiles painted dark brown with blacked-out air vent piping, which is pretty standard stuff, but the ceilings are way too high, giving the place a warehouse-y, Chuck E. Cheese-y feeling. They also have a bar area at one end which is somewhat separated from the eating area, but seems oddly out of place. Again, the overly high ceilings kill the feeling. Service-wise, it's also a miss. Every staff member has a cold-ish, not friendly, and not-happy-with-their-job attitude. They are professional but that's all. Human robots. On the other hand, they may have all broken up with their respective boyfriends and girlfriends that day. But I doubt it. Menu-wise, it's a big miss for me, mainly due to their burgers. The menu clearly states "Due to the smoking process, our burgers stay pink in the middle no matter how well done." Uhhh...ok...but sorry, that sounds like BS to me. So I asked the waiter if there was any way possible that they could cook my burger all the way through so there would be no pink? His answer was "No, it will always be pink inside because of the pork seasoning that is mixed into the beef". BS alert is flashing bright red now since the waiter's explanation is different than the menu's explanation. End result, I did not order a burger even though that was what I came here for. Fish & "Chips": What do you expect when you order this world famous dish? Deep-fried fish and french fries. Some places serve thick fries, and some places serve regular fries, but you always get fries...except at Hop Valley where you get oily cold potato chips. Plus the fish is rubbery cod instead of halibut. Side of fries we ordered to rectify the "chips" issue: Cold. Boring. Sysco. (Sysco is a huge restaurant supply conglomerate that provides so so food materials and supplies nationwide.) Sysco ketchup on the table did not help the Sysco fries come to life. Chicken Strips with BBQ sauce: Batter was supposed to be made from Hop Valley beer, but I could not taste any difference. The batter was very crispy and brown outside but wet inside (fryer oil was probably too hot). BBQ sauce was thin and light on flavor. It tasted Sysco-tastic. Beer: Better than Budweiser but not as good as Ninkasi or even Steelhead. I don't think Sysco makes craft beer, but if they did, this is what it would taste like. Summary: The idea was a good one, and the hardware is very professional and big chain-ish, but everything else is a big miss-ish.

Okay in less than a month I've been in three times, twice in one day! First off, I love there beers, Citrus Mistress, Proxima, Alpha Centauri, Galactose Milk Stout, a really good hoppy red Ale and others too. The name fits, they like hoppy beers and so do I! I've eaten here twice, had the Happy Hour special Margherita Pizza which was outstanding, and the Pulled Pork, sando which was really good, but a larger serving than I could finish, pork, onion rings and slaw, must have been 4 inches high! I really like the fact that you have so many options for sides with most entrees, I ordered seasonal veggies which were Great! They clearly spent some time on the grille, had that nice smoky flavor. When I go to a brewery, I'm frequently by myself, and usually sit at the bar, which I've done here! They employ a large staff, all are high energy, fast working but friendly and personable! Lots of cute girls working there, and everyone I've encountered has been really good, even when they are super busy. Of the Eugene/Springfield breweries, this one is most convenient for folks traveling I-5, and they have plenty of parking and nearby lodging, and Cabela's is only a couple blocks away.......as I mentioned in a previous review, they have great Happy Hour beer and food choices, at excellent prices!

Food is triple stars down: Mash potatoes were hours old and the broccoli, well the broccoli was lemon flavored to the point where it would have great in in ice tea, rib eye steak was cold so really that could have belonged in ice tea as well. Please for the love of whatever food god you believe in, Eat somewhere else! Lots of places to choose from but, ahh, Boys & Girls come for the beer and service, those are excellent.

Well, not sure where to begin...after a long day of traveling...we stopped at one of the hotels close by..and just wanted some good food, glass of wine for my wife and a class of beer for myself. The front desk checked us in and told us that this was the place to go. What a huge mistake!!!...it all started with a terrible glass of $8.50 Pinot Gris that tasted like...well truthfully it had NO taste. I had a glass of Double D blonde, which was quite good...and it stopped there for good. We ordered a plate of chicken wing appetizers which tasted like they had been fried in oil that had been used for a multitude of different frying. The waitress kept bringing us different sauces to try, but the hot sauce was nasty, the blue cheese dressing was so watered down it wouldn't even stay on the wing, and the BBQ sauce was just some no name bottled sauce. My wife quit there...should have listened to her, but no, I just had to order the chicken burger. My wife said she was leaving and I took the burger back to the hotel....SO bad that our dog wouldn't eat it and tried to bury it. Oh and the fries that came with it resembled that oil that the chicken wings had been fried in and needed to be changed about two months back! My recommendation...(and the dog's)....bypass this place!

Good place. Wish there was a bit more education on gluten-free items on there menu. Staff was very friendly. Cooks forgot to stuff my burger. Oh well still tasted yummy.

Great food, great beer and a waitstaff that's friendly and accommodating. What more could you want? The fish and chips are insanely good, as were the shredded pork tacos and the Imperial Red Ale. Life is good at Hop Valley Brewing.

Shocked!!! SO disappointed... and I am pretty forgiving. ~Mozzarella sticks soggy and barely warm with watery sauce. ~Slopped chilli nachos that had NO flavor and horribly presented. ~BLT that was brought out without the fries cause they were making fresh ones. After the BLT was finished and we finally flagged the waitress, she brought out fresh fries.. and the y weren't bad. On the flip side: The wait staff was really friendly though not always in sync with each other. The atmosphere was pleasant. The beer isn't bad. And! they did a great promotion with Eugene Blood Bank. Give a Pint. Get a Pint. and a Pint Glass. Score!! Drink. Don't Eat.

Husband and I always come here for pre-movie drinks when we're going to the Springfield theater(s). This place has good happy hour, a decent beer menu. We've always sat at the bar, which is pretty packed most of the time. Service is ok, food is ok, no big complaints, just not mind-blowing.

This is a pretty a decent place for a burger and a beer - and I happen to like their fries, which were nicely crisp and balanced. Brought my parents here for dinner, and there was something for everyone. The food is generally heavy but nicely done - burgers and fried stuff. Fish and chips came with potato chips rather than fries - though there is apparently an option for fries, our server never asked. Seared ahi salad came with a nicely spicy dressing, though the tuna was not of the highest quality. They have a pretty long beer list, much of it either very light or heavily hopped. They are big on the details - listing malts and hops and gravity and IBU's. The results are okay, but most of the beers seemed to concentrate on hop bitterness or lighter flavors for macro-brew lovers rather than balance. They offer one beer on cask - the night we visited it was Batch 420 - a relatively light tasting beer brewed with hemp seeds. Service was friendly and accommodating, if not particularly fast. It's a good place for a wide variety of folks, and there seems to be something decent on offer for pretty much any taste. As I said - a pretty decent place for a burger and a beer.

This place is so loud we could barely hear ourselves talking. Perhaps we just hit it at a busy time. This is not the place you want to go for a quiet date. It's more of a chain-restaurant/TGIF/Chili's/sportsbar type of place. We think our server was wasted. Or maybe she's always like that? She seemed drunk to us... leaning on the table... acting goofy... hair all messed-up and hanging all in her face... but she was nice and we got our food without any major waiting around or mishaps, which are good things. No hair (or face glitter) in the food, either, which is always a plus. We both ordered steak. There are two different steaks on the menu: the ribeye and the top sirloin. I asked for mine with the sauce on the side and was glad I did! Mr. Kat didn't and was sorry for it. His ribeye was covered in this yucky cream sauce that he had to scrape off.... *shivvers*.... Anyway: keep this in mind if you order steak: ask for the weird yucky sauce/butter stuff on the side or just 86 it altogether and you'll be a much happier camper. The ribeye - once the sauce was all scraped off - was very good, though seemed a little on the thin side. The top sirloin wasn't that great.... tough, not tender, hard to chew. We will definitely order the blackened ribeye sans sauce if we find ourselves at the hop again. With the mashed potatoes and veggies... The Vanilla Porter is my favorite beer of the moment. Try it - it's very good. The Natty Red: gross. Bitter and... gross. We might try this place again... but it's not a place that we'd go out of our way to get to again... it's kind of a... if we happen to be in Springfield and find ourselves wanting a steak and a beer... go here... kind of place. And just hope to gosh that it's quieter next time, and our waiter is sober. :)

Went to the Duck Baseball game last night and a friend treated me to a bowl of clam chowder. We're at a ball game, it can't be that good, right? Wrong.. It was ahhhmazing! Big clams, perfectly cooked potatoes and I really liked the touch of celery. The soup had so much flavor. Anyways, as we were leaving I mentioned again how tasty the chowder was and she informed me it was from Hop Valley. I'm definitely making a special trip in, just for that (something I hadn't ordered there before)... and maybe a beer.

I have been hearing about Hop Valley so maybe my expectations are high. It was sadly disappointing! We received terrible service, and I thought it was just mediocre "dressed up" and expensive bar food. They didnt have a cocktail list, yet they have a bar! I was able to order a drink but never a re-up, it took an hour after we ate to finally get our our boxes and tickets, and almost everyone at the table was sitting with empty drinks! I ended up going to the bar, to order a drink!!! OH and we were there for a bday meal and we ended up blowing out a lighter after the bday song because we werent offered any bday treat, even though we told them it was a bday dinner!!! :(

Make a reservation! Long lines to get seated with no real waiting area and very few tables of more then four. Hard place to take a group. food was okay but fast. Drinks were a great deal and strong. Will probably return if in the area for a try at happy hour for two.

The early results of a semi-scientific, but thorough, survey of the region's IPAs suggests that the Alpha Centauri Binary IPA is the best in the area, and certainly the best in terms of quality to hype ratio. Furthermore, Hop Valley is probably the best brewpub in the Eugene-Springfield area. Best beer, serviceable bar food, good homemade root beer, real nice happy hour, good vibes, no overcrowding. Every check comes with an evaluation form (the original Yelp review) -- always an encouraging sign that someone cares. Sure, if you live in downtown Eugene it's hard to get excited about driving to an anonymous lot in the shadow of a Marriott at the side of two highways, but for anyone else this is a good, unpretentious place to watch a game or get a late night dinner. Put it this way, the only really objectionable thing about the place involves the take home six packs (another huge plus), specifically their unusually plastic-intensive six pack ring (aka yoke), which is from recycled plastic but still notably wasteful in a world of wasteful packaging. (Anyone who still thinks recycling is a magic process that turns one thing into something else with no toxic byproduct needs to catch up.) There's no perfect solution to the six ring riddle but paper is definitely the best option and would take Hop Valley close to perfection. Another solution would be to charge a 50 cent deposit on the rings, but I'm guessing that wouldn't be too popular.

Great beer. Try the nitro beer, I'd never seen it before, but it's pretty cool. They use nitrous in the keg instead of CO2 & you can taste the diferent. The food was pretty good as well for bar food. Get there early, it gets packed. I came on at 7 on Monday and couldn't find a seat due to Monday night football. The bar is tiny and the dining room is huge, they should switch it around.

My daughter wanted to go here for her 12th birthday....go figure...it was very busy(and a little loud)but the people they have working really went out if their way to be helpful and they were so nice. The food was fine but the staff are deffinatly the stars here.

Hop Valley's Vanilla Porter is the best local brew, hands down. Because of the Springfield-Gateway location, it has taken me a long time to finally get over there and get it fresh. As expected, it was really nice. The space is large, dimly lit in a good way, and generally a pleasant place to be. TV screens in different places playing whatever game is on, but not so overpowering as to detract during a dinner visit. The food was just 'meh' and pricey for what it was. I got some dull fish and chips (the potatoes weren't nearly hot enough) and my companion got an ahi salad that was on the small side and over-drenched with the dressing. Service was okay but nothing to earn a gold star. Bottom line: I'd never return here for dinner, but I like what they are doing with their beer and with their space. My return trip would definitely be at happy hour for some cheaper mediocre-eats and more of that Vanilla Porter.

While Hop Valley isn't the best brewery in the Eugene area, it's got a good restaurant and is easy to get to. The food gets between 3 and four stars, maybe. I've been here two times and both times I had a burger (the Braumeister and the blue cheese stuffed one). The blue cheese one was pretty damn good, I must admit. However, they've got coated/battered fries, which I'm not a fan of. Makes them more greasy than they need to be. On my second visit, I had two really good beers. One was a chili-spiced porter from a cask and the other was their 11.11.11 beer. The porter was super-tasty and just the right amount of spice (perfect with the burger, I must say). The Eleven was a well-brewed strong ale/barleywine that kind of knocked me on my ass. It was strong, but it had great flavor and wasn't too heavy. I'll definitely be back here at some point in the future. Oh, and they get bonus points for starting to can their beer.

Commuter brewery in the heart of Springfield's gateway area, how can you go wrong?. I agree they make fresh beer. As far as the Yelp that this is a favorite spot in Eugene, might want to check the zip code. I was intrigued by the idea someone in town might try some new beer styles so I started with the vanilla porter. It was ok but nothing special, I would rank it as a quality homebrew as far as trying a different flavor profile. The IPA was good and the rest of the beers were so-so. I switched to guest taps and was thankful they had a few.

OMG - this was one of the most horrible restaurant experiences I've ever had. I ordered a steak medium rare and it came totally uncooked, actually cold inside. I asked for it to be cooked properly and after a long wait it came back in exactly the same condition. My friends were pretty grossed out by the steak and described it as jelly-like. I asked immediately to speak to the manager and he was insulting and incompetent. He blamed the condition of the steak on me and said I didn't know how a steak was supposed to be cooked. This steak was cold inside. He then went on to insult me further and I said I wouldn't trust any food from his kitchen. This may he a decent restaurant but the management is completely incompetent, rude, insulting and uncooperative. I would not trust my health to a restaurant with such poor and incompetent management. Unfortunately I can't give zero stars for this unhealthy establishment.

Went awhile ago and the food was really good, been there about 4 times after visiting hospital. They get rushes of customers which can slow service but there still on top of it. Haven't had a bad meal or experience there yet. When the weather permits sit outside its nice.

Meh, this place is ok. Beer on tap is good. Food is decent. Price is reasonable. Nothing too special. Service is fine and also reasonable. I've never had any problem here nor have I ever wanted to go here. The place is just a regular bar/restaurant, really, just nothing special.

    (3)
  • Rachel S.

This place was very average. The food was nothing special (in fact, I don't even really remember what I ate), and the service was just OK. The beer was good, but I like beer and it's pretty hard to mess that up at a bar. I visited here on July 6th after an unexpected flight cancellation forced me to stay overnight at a hotel across the street. If you are staying at hotels in the area, it's a decent place to pass the time. I don't think I would ever go out of my way to go here, though.

I've been here 4 times now and am unimpressed. Their best assets are their location and the building, but they can't offset the other aspects of the place. The food is roughly Applebee's, but not quite as good. Basically meh. Burgers are nothing special and expensive, nachos are pretty average, sandwiches are average, salads are slightly below average. Couple that with servers who appear unmotivated and kind of slow on the uptake, and beer that is, at best, average microbrew and it makes for a pretty much below average experience. For the beer inclined they have an average vanilla porter, average red and imperial red, and below average lager and blonde. I'm not a big IPA person, so not sure about the alphadelic IPA. If you gotta go I'd try to lean toward the seasonals, if possible.

Been to the Hop Valley Brewery/ restaurant a few times, and I always leave satisfied. The beer is defiantly good, and well made. The problem I have with it is that even the beers that are supposed to be smooth/sweet are still very hoppy. I know the place is called "Hop Valley" but when I get a wheat beer I don't want to be punched in the face with hops like an IPA. So not exactly the place if you like to 'get a round of buds'. That being said when I do want an IPA type beer hop valley is the best, and surprising easy to drink. So I guess this is my own criticism because I don't like the trend that Northwest beers are supposed to be like a sledge hammer of hops. The food is one notch above typical pup food. I think most everything is made fresh, and if anything is frozen it was hard to catch. I got the "brewben" which is there take on a ruben sandwich which is just made on a rye hoagie roll rather then sliced bread. It was good/ ok for a greasy night out- would expect nothing less from a pup like this. Like i said- always satisfied never really got anything super exciting. A tad bit expensive for what you get. So all that considered I am happy giving it 4 stars.

Of course, you go here for its famous local beers and they are especially good, but the food is great, too, and so is the service. I had a buffalo wings salad the first time I visited and thought it was OK, but wanted a little more pep in the wings. The portion size was more than adequate and the service matched with the amazing brews made for a good eating experience. I returned a couple of days later (because it is near my hotel) and had the burger and beer special (Sundays). Once again, I had great service and a wonderful locally brewed seasonal beer. The burger, I was delighted to discover, was a cut above normal burgers and I felt like it was better than the buffalo wing salad. I do not know if they make their own buns here, but if not, they are buying them from the right place. My second experience of eating here was better than the first and I was pretty well satisfied both times I went.

Meh, beer is ok...we really like the samplers. Unfortunately the food isn't very food and we have had to send several things back. I would recommend other places like BJs

Recommendation from a local (Eugene) we met at another brewery in Mt. Shasta. Easy access from the freeway. The place feels like a corporate restaurant. I thought I was in Applebees. We headed to the bar and ordered a sampler. It consisted of their 541 Lager, "The" Heff, Impeller IPA, Natty Red, Double D Blonde, Alphaholic IPA, Vanilla Porter, Stepchild Red, Festeroo Winter Seasonal, some winter stout, and Double IPA. I really only enjoyed their Pale Ale and IPA. We left with a few 22oz IPA's to share with friends back home. We also ate lunch which was good. We only had some sandwiches. Their was just a lack of history or anything. It just seemed to commercial.

Stopped by on the way back from a trip to UO. It was a great place! I had the vanilla infused porter and it was pretty good. The vanilla was not overpowering and it stilled tasted like a smoky porter. I also had their pale ales that was cask conditioned. This one was a amazing and I contemplated starting a fire to cause a distraction so I could load the rest of it in my car. For dinner I had the stuffed black-n-bleu burger and it was incredible. My recommendation would be to stop reading this immediately, drive there and have one!! It is stuffed with bacon and bleu cheese which contrary to what is believed, are God's greatest gifts to the world.

Excellent Club Sandwich and Chef Salad (on Special that day) and tasty fries. I tried a beer sampler and fell in love with the Vanilla Porter. We had excellent service. Hop Valley is located halfway between Medford and Portland right off the freeway- a perfect place to stop for a meal. We would have stopped on our way home, but it did not open until 11:30 AM.

Stopped here to taste a non-chain beer and burger. I really liked it. We came and hit happy hour on a Sunday by accident as who knew there would be a Sunday happy hour from 3-6pm? Yum. I had the Double D blonde which was a very pale beer infused with great flavor. The happy hour appetizers from the prawns to the burgers to the cheese sticks to nachos were all good. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was casual. The brewery has an outdoor area, an indoor eating area and a bar area. No minors on the bar but we saw parents with kids in the eating area enjoying good beer. Right off the I5 and near many hotels like the Courtyard. McDs and Denny's are around the corner but how do they get any customers with Hop Valley as a neighbor? Will definitely come again.

Hold my beer and watch this! Atmosphere here is like an Applebees...but with beer. You can tell that this is the only place the married guys can take their families and eat while enjoying flashbacks to their football playing days. In other words, this place looks like it's in the mall. It's surrounded by hotels- so maybe they are right to fit the mini-van clan. Here's the surprise- the beer is good! Quite good! It's just the Planet Hollywood feel...which is a bit disappointing. It's like having a sweet car and parking it in a shack garage. If you like Red Robin you will love it here. If you like a real brewery (Ninkasi, Oakshire) there's lovely ones to visit in the same town.

Like many reviews already posted on here, the beer is good and the food is so-so. It's a little dark and ominous inside the main dining room as well. We were there with our 2 young children and the waitress was so nice to us and to them, taking time to comment to the kids on their clothes, etc. Big points for personality! While the beers were tasty, the food was just really middle of the road, typical bar food. So I'd say if you're going to hit Hop Valley, just sit down at the bar and enjoy the experience, but leave the dining for somewhere else.

Get down with this Hop Valley acrostic poem: Hearty. Giant pulled pork sandwich, pleasant but not remarkable. Options. Sides galore like greens, fries, potato salad and soup. Proud. To have yet another brewery carving a niche. Value. A nice looking happy hour menu with great food prices. Armed. As in the biceps on our waitress. Zow, she had muscles! Lacking. 541 didn't really represent. Alpha Centauri was good though. Leftovers. Could of been mine had I not stuffed myself to capacity. Enabling. $2 beers and $5 bombs in celebration of St. Patricks Day. Yes! Food and beer was on the house for my birthday! 1 star bump for the free sustenance. Can't wait to go back and try the Elias Briggs Cream Ale, a dedication brew to the man who founded Springfield 125 years ago. Go EB! Go Springfield! Go beer!

The service was slightly distracted but very friendly and ultimately got the job done. The dinner was as advertized, and I liked the smoke addition to the Braumeister burger. Also, they have the right bun, it held up under pressure with the large size beef. Sampled 3 brews, like each and loved the DD Blonde. I would come again when passing through.

The food is good. My wife LOVES the Thai Tiger Tears Salad! Great beers too. I would go with a booth though as their chairs are uncomfortable. The service is always great (once you get past the hostesses that are usually kinda rude and annoying). All in all, a good visit.

This place is just a few blocks from my work, so after work some of the co-workers and I come here for a beer! This place has good happy hour prices and big proportions of food. The burgers are one of the best food items on the menu. The nachos are huge so be sure your hungry if ordering these! Perfect beer companion in my eyes. If you are wanting a healthier choice I would suggest the Thai Tiger Tears salad, it has amazing flavor. Friendly atmosphere, but somewhat crowded . But what can you expect from a trendy brewery?

I've been hearing about Hop Valley for several months and decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Brew Sampler and the Black and Bleu burger. From the sampler I found that I really like the Natty Red, the Vanilla Porter and Alpha Centauri double IPA. HV's Hefe is fine, but it's less flavorful than Widmer. If you like light craft beers the Double D Blonde is refreshing. Didn't care for the 541 IPA, There are better IPAs all over the place. Alphaholic is good, but look out, if you are not a dyed in the wool hop head, you aren't going to like it much. The burger was quite good. I like a little more bleu cheese on a black and bleu burger, but the meat was nicely seasoned and cooked exactly to order. The fries were a little overdone, but not terrible. The burger fixin's were fresh and of good quality. Our server was notable, she was knowledgeable about all of the beers on the menu, and had recommendations from the menu for the first time guest. The restaurant was clean albeit a bit noisy. I can easily see stopping in for lunch or dinner when I am in Springfield.

Two words: Vanilla Porter. Hop Valley is the (perhaps only) good place to eat when you find yourself in the Gateway area. I wasn't too terribly impressed by most of the beers, but thought the vanilla porter was delicious. Our server was nice, perhaps not as attentive as she should have been, I had the seared Ahi and angel hair which was pretty good, but nothing really to write home about. It's worth going to though, and the atmosphere is pretty relaxed (which I really like). Overall a decent way to spend a night out.

Have been here a couple of times over the years. Consistently good. Convenient location off of I-5 in Springfield. Love the Vanilla Porter. Menu is mostly the standard pub menu with some good additions. Had the Vegetarian Penne Pasta with Goat Cheese last night. Really good, nice fresh veggies. Service was prompt even with a full house. Busy place but no reservations taken for smaller parties. My only complaint was that the tables could be a bit cleaner; just not wiped down well enough and the noise level is really high, with lots of kids in the restaurant section. I would probably wait for a table in the bar next time, for adult seating only. But, overall, I recommend.

I love eating and drinking there. The food and service are excellent. If they would post the nutritional value of their food somewhere, anywhere (espically on Fitness Pal) I would give it a *****! Due to health problems and general knowledge I need to know these things. Everyone who I have encountered working there is extra friendly, even when they are flat out busy!

Highly recommend stopping here. My husband and I stopped in on our way out of town and the food was delicious! I had the blt (added avocado) and he had the french dip. He got the root beer and that was really good too! We aren't big beer drinkers and were just looking for some good food, we are so glad we stopped here and can't wait to go back!

We stopped here on our way to Seattle for lunch. Beers are awesome. Food was good but not great. The chicken strips that Jenn had were not as great as other Yelpers had said - but neither of us are fana of fried food. I highly recommend the stuffed black and blue burger. Get it medium. Jenn loved the Vanilla Porter. I love the Alpha Centauri IPA. I would go back, Jenn isn't so sure.

Excellent beer! Vanilla Porter, IPA, Reds - all tasty. Great food - beef or chicken burger w/ awesome corn on the side. The Cuban and the Club are also delicious. They make dressings, sides, sauces in house. Service is very good and the prices are surprisingly low! Overall, great experience.

Finally the Gateway area is beginning to develop some decent places to eat, thanks in part to Hop Valley. The beer is good and they have some interesting choices as well (Vanilla Porter). My favorite has to be the Turkey Club. The bacon is made with brown sugar, and as long as they don't over cook it (happened to me once) it is delicious.

Hop Valley has one of the top 3 best burgers in Eugene imo. The other foods I've had there are unimpressive. I also don't care for the non-central location or the incredibly LOUD atmosphere. The service was pretty good though. Oh yeah, since it is located right off the highway, it is a great stop for travelers-- a much needed change from the corporate hell hole chains traditionally found located off most highways.

We stumbled upon the Hop Valley Brewing Company enroute from Portland to Autzen Stadium on Saturday. We found ourselves in a strip-mall laden land of Outback Steakhouses and IHOPS. Not good, but then the Hop Valley Sign (which is on a big pole like a Chevron Station or a McDonalds) beaconed. Eureka. We found our spot for pre-game burgers and beers. We sat at the bar, which had large flat screens playing all of the games that were on at the time, and tasted the Oktoberfest (which was similar in maltiness to the German Oktoberfest beers I've had, but not to hoppy, and a red ale, which was nice, but didn't knock our socks off). We ended up going with their Alphaholic IPA, which was a true PNW style hoppy, malty, higher on the alcoholic spectrum version of this perennial favorite.) It was bold, yet balanced. A very nice IPA in my opinion. Bonus points were also earned as we wandered in during happy hour, which meant $3 pints, which is the way to go, especially when the alternative is $7 Drop Tops at the Mo. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was good. I went with their smoked burger. It was a very large patty, smoked, and then grilled. The smoke flavor was pretty intense, but all in all I can't complain. I'd describe it as slightly above average for pub / brewery food. So, long story short, I'd hit Hop Valley again, especially because it is a quick, easy, fairly traffic-free stop going to Autzen from Portland.

We stumbled across this place when we rolled into Eugene/Springfield area after a long drive from Seattle. It happened to be right next to our hotel which was really convenient since I was starving! The food here was ok. I had a house salad which i was pleasantly surprised by. It had lots of goodies in it like garbanzo beans and corn. After that I had a turkey sandwich which was ok. The chips on the side were pretty yummy. The sandwich had cranberry sauce on it which was way too citrusy and slightly ruined it for me. My big complaint about this place was the interior. It seemed confused on what it wanted to be. On one hand, it was a restaurant which served beer like the RAM. The kitchen staff all wore uniforms and the wait staff all had on Hop Valley gear which was cool. On the other hand, they seemed like they wanted to be a dive bar type place. Or at least that's the impression I got from the inside. The floors and tables were not very well taken care of. The plates were all scratched and needed to be replaced. They seemed to have spent a TON of money on merchandise, etc. They have hats, pint glasses, dog collars, etc. I think it would be in the interest of the establishment to funnel some money into rehabbing parts of the restaurant. The wait staff was really nice and the place had a good vibe overall. I would probably eat here again. Since I don't drink, I can't justify these kinds of places based on the beer so keep that in mind. But overall, it was a nice experience and I would try again. Maybe something else on the menu would be better.

I never have really had a meal here, at best split some appetizers. I go there for the beer, really good beer! It can get kind of crowded during big sports events but it's always a fun atmosphere and the service is pretty good. If you're not familiar with their beers I would suggest their sampler, you get to try all their brews at a reasonable price. They aren't stuffy like some brew pubs and don't seem really full of themselves like some can get. It's a fun place to go and either watch some sports, try new beers or just meet or make new friends that appreciate a well crafted beer.

Beer loving husband and I decided to give this place a try on a weeknight evening. I ordered their mac & cheese which was, without question, the worst I have ever had. A gargantuan portion of undercooked fusilli pasta in a runny (as in thin, watery, and tasteless) cheese sauce clearly made from some powdered mix, poured on the pasta and a little parm grated on top, it was simply inedible. Kraft mac & cheese from a box would be haute cuisine compared to this stuff. Very nice waitress quickly and pleasantly replaced it with another entree, fish & chips, which was adequate, but not good - nice fish, but very soggy batter. Their chips aren't traditional fries, but are more like potato chips...ok, but greasy. Husband not impressed with their beer...not likely we'll give it a second try.

Walking up to Hop Valley the first thing you see is a big red sticker stating "People Love Us on Yelp." I'm always one to let my fellow Yelper's direct me when it comes to trying new places. Unfortunately, today I was severely let down. It was my sisters birthday and we were looking for somewhere that would please the whole family. Checked out Yelp and looked at the menu online. Looked good, so we decided to give it a try. Seated quickly and proceeded to wait. Waitress came and took our drink order and left. She didn't really acknowledge me when I ordered, but I assumed all was well. She comes back with drinks, gives everyone their drinks, and then looks right at me and says "what did you want?" This can't be good... So I re-order my drink and she walks off. I watch her bounce back and forth from two tables for about 5 minutes before she finally disappears and gets my drink. She drops it off and walks off. We were ready to order, but she clearly had other things she needed to do. Upon returning she starts to take our order. We try to order an appetizer, but they are out of that. So we try another. Nope, out of that too. Okay, no appetizer then. Just ordered lunch. Mom also go chowder and sister got a salad. She comes back shortly after with chowder and salad. Chowder has started to congeal, smells AWFUL, and tastes like flour. Ya, that went back right away. Salad with lemon vinaigrette tasted like oil with some herbs in it. Also not good. Main courses show up. Brother in law gets chicken strips, which as others have said are great (according to him). Sisters ahi tuna sandwich is cold, but okay. Mom's roast beef dip is dry. My fish and chips are okay, but a bit oily on the inside. Not great, but would have garnered 3 stars if not for one thing... The service was awful. The waitress was inattentive and just generally had a bad attitude. Not sure what her deal was, but definitely did not make me want to EVER go back to this place., So I'll be fair and give it two stars since the meals were OK and my sisters was free since it was her birthday. Also, the Vanilla Porter, as others have said, was actually very good. I can imagine this place would probably be good for happy hour, but have no basis to judge the appetizers, since they were out of everything. Oh well...

As we were checking into the hotel across the street, "Is that place any good across the street?" "We send a lot of people over there. The food is good, but some people complain about the service." We ordered takeout. Me, ribs with fries and extra ketchup. Her, the rueben sandwich and fries. We got back to the hotel room, and yes, the extra ketchup was in fact in the box with the ribs.... sans french fries... Yes, the food was good and of good value, but that service thing still needs a little work...

"Since they're brewing on a small scale on-site at the restaurant, they can't pass savings on from buying supplies in bulk cause they either can't store it, or can't brew it before it goes stale." This is my take at a justification for the *$4 pints. If at all possible, I'd cut the price of the beer down to $3.00 - $3.25 at most. At this price, the beer would have great value (it's really good beer) and would be strong fodder for word of mouth advertising: "Hey, they've got good micro's for $3.00" Even if it is good beer, It's not a $4 beer when you can get Ninkasi at most restaurants that sell micro brew for .50 to 1.00 less. Hop Valley's beer is comparable to Ninkasi in quality. At least do a weekly special where you dip the price. Message to Hop Valley: Even if you sold the beer at cost, you'd still be doing better than where you've started out at. With one strategy, you at least have positive word of mouth (and greater food sales). It's better to tweak things to deepen your pockets after the fact and risk losing business, than to not have any business to start with, and I mean after the initial rush of patrons who are trying you out for the first time. You're missing your opportunity to give them something unique. As is, I don't have a reason to root for you. Your value just isn't there. If you price it right, they will come. Your beer really has the ability to travel word of mouth, give people a reason to want to get behind you. Good luck. *EDIT: Much credit to Hop Valley for making Monday a $2.50 beer night, and for changing their fries up.

The chicken schnitzel is awesome if you can get it before its sold out. We split the BLT (thick maple bacon slices) and smoked gouda mac & cheese along with a custom beer. Always a game on the tele. The ketchup that came with the fries gave me heartburn right away for some reason. That's never happened before.

Samplers of 6, 9. or 12 different beers. Great variety and food. I had the Black and Blue burger - Bleu Cheese stuffed hamburger. Cooked perfectly and very flavorful. My husband had the fish tacos which he really liked. Now he's out on a mission to try fish tacos everywhere so he can give theirs a rating. Will definitely go again! Oh, and they have 1 gallon growlers for sale among other things.

I was actually meeting a friend for dinner at Outback when I drove past this place so after dinner we ran over here to check out the beer. I had heard about the vanilla porter so I thought I would give it a shot. It was surprisingly good! I wouldn't have thought vanilla and porter would go well but it was smooth and bitter at the same time and tasty. My experience with the service wasn't as bad as some of the reviewers but it wasn't the best either so I dinged them a star for mediocre service. Not too bad though, so I'll be back to check out some more of the beers.

We went to Hop Valley on a Saturday night around 7pm. The place was absolutely hopping! (No pun intended). We were seated within 5 minutes, a major surprise given how busy it was. The waitress was very pleasant - However, the service was s-l-o-w. Since we were there to relax for awhile, this wasn't a big deal, and to be fair it was super super busy. I didn't see many empty tables everywhere. We ordered a wide range of foods. I ordered the lamb ribs, and my friends had a philly cheese steak, fish and chips, bbq burger, and blue cheese burger. Overall -the food was good. However, my ribs had run out so I got pork ribs instead. They were quite delicious tho for 15.95 I didn't expect to get 3 half-racks. I don't know if thats the normal size or if that was an apology for not having the lamb, but they were pretty good warmed up the next day. Overall, the food was "A-OK" as the stars say. The fish and chips were great -- Fresh crisps! (american chips, not english chips). The potato salad was odd - I don't know if I like that much dill and bacon - but decent. My ribs were good, the fries were fresh cut, but overcooked/dried out. The philly cheesesteak got a good review. The burgers were given happy thumbs-up. But the beer!! The beer is why we'll go back. We decided that we could give the restaurant a bye for the slow service and kind of mediocre food because 1) they'd just opened and 2) they were swamped and 3) the beer was awesome. I had the vanilla porter. Like someone else said above: the warmer and nearer the bottom it got, the more delicious it was. Also - They have Sasquatch!!! You know - the remake of the stuff from the Wild Duck! Yay!! Anyways... I have high hopes for this place. I will be returning, perhaps for a lunch and we'll see if things get any better with the food. I still want to try those lamb ribs! :) Try it out, for sure.

This place sucks. My food was nasty. Dont order the chicken fingers unless u want a 6000 calorie meal. They were a heart attack waiting to happen. And the fish and chips were a dissapointment. Come with gross cheap potato chips instead of fries

Had a casual dinner at Hop Valley Again. They had a crab bisque special (bowl $5.50) very nice bisque, lots of crab and great flavor. I also had the sliders, probably the best in town. They spend some time in the smoker melted cheese, good small bun, little pink in the middle. Very tasty (Three of them $6.95). I also have two pints of Double D blond, great beer. Good crowd, friendly servers and good service. Total bill came to $20.45 without a tip. A few nights ago I had the hanger steak again, totally different that the last one I had a few nights after they opened. The plating was very well done, hanger sliced and fanned out over some great mashed spuds. Perfect medium rare and perfectly seasoned. A few vegi's also on the plate made it look very appealing. Probably my favorite place in Eugene right now.

Any brew pub is a friend of mine. The location is less than desirable - I would personally love to see it in downtown Eugene. The beer is delicious! We had a vanilla porter and being the gingers we are we had to try the red. I have also had the double d which is delicious as well. The food was pretty good with my man ordering a bbq sandwich and me a b.l.t. Apparently the b.l.t. is one of the most popular sandwiches and while good, I am not a fan of candied bacon. Being a midwesterner I am damn picky about bacon. Quality good, just not a fan of the flavor. Overall I would totally eat here again.

My husband liked their vanilla porter. We shared the mozzerella sticks, which were very good, with smoked mozzerella and panko breading. My husband said the burger was just ok. I had the berry salad, which was also just ok. We had a waitress who needed some extra training in customer service. A server brought out a salad to me that didn't have any berries on it, so I asked, "Is this the berry salad?" Our waitress walked up and asked, "You wanted the berry salad? You said brewhouse salad." Not only do I know that to NOT be true, it's certainly not what you tell your customer when they get an item they did not want. The only salad I even looked closely at on the menu was the berry salad - I didn't even know they had one called the brewhouse. Then to top that, on the receipt they added the berry salad and then subtracted the brewhouse salad with a note reading, "CHANGED MIND" and CIRCLED IT!. Seriously? No, I did not change my mind. Your waitress heard what she wanted to and then passed her mistake onto her customer. I'm not hard to please but I was a bit peeved.

Our first visit and likely our last. Food was very good, prices a bit high, service excellent, but the music selection we were forced to listen to, was terrible and loud. A Heavy Metal type. Looking around at the age and type of people there, I would say almost none would want to listen to that selection. " Hello Hop Valley ", do you want people to return. Good food isn't enough if the music selection and volume makes you uncomfortable.

Fairly consistent. We stop here often on our trips from Portland to visit family in Medford. Food is fresh and somewhat creative for pub fare. Our kids LOVE the food here. It appeals to them without being a salty fatty mess. They love getting fresh fruit with their meals. Typically good, fast service. Best stop off Hwy 5 in my opinion.

These wings are pretty special in that they are served crispy and dry. It's hard to imagine wings without the mess and wet naps, but these are so crispy and delicious you won't miss it. The crispy wings are marinated in garlic, chilis and bourbon (so you know it's good) and are a nice subtle change to the usual overwhelming heat that you find with a lot of chicken wings.

Met up with a friend on Wednesday evening, around 8pm, to a pretty empty restaurant. Hostess let up pick our own seat, we chose to enjoy the evening on the back patio. Right off the bat the tables were in dire need of a cleaning. Granted they are a metal mesh, but there was a thick sticky substance covering every table we looked at. Our waitress was prompt and very polite. She asked if she could get us any food, having just came from sushi we thanked her and informed her we would just be enjoying there craft beers this evening. The beer wasn't bad, not great, and not worth the high price they charge (especially when I could buy it cheaper next door at a gas station). We hung out on the patio until the restaurant closed, but the waitress allowed us to stay until we finished our beer, before making our way inside to the bar. Night and day customer service experience. First the female bartender, Jessica, ignored me for the tall guy standing behind me. Proceed to beret the gentleman that he didn't have enough time for her to make his drink and have him drink it before final call. When she did finally acknowledge me she was very hostile about me ordering 2 beers and 1 shot of liquor. She lied to me about an OLCC regulation and then proceeded to accuse me of being rude. Confused, I looked to my friend and he just shrugged in confusion as well. To sum up, waitress was superb (what makes this place a 2 star and not a 1), beer is ok and expensive and the bartender is very rude. Unlikely I'll have any desire to, voluntarily, visit that establishment again.

Wow, I'm really blown away by all the bad reviews I just read about this amazingly fabulous place my Wife and I just encountered by chance. First of all, I'm an award winning accomplished competition homebrewer (competed at the GABF Pro -Am and have a best selling recipe at morebeer, com) of 14+ years and know beers. I know that sounds a bit cocky, but I need to establish precedence. My wife and I are also foodies as well as pretty decent chefs in the kitchen. I'm saying all this because after the experience we just had an hour ago, I feel the need to speak the truth and defend this establishment against many who seem to not know good food or beer. These people should probably be eating at McDonalds or Burger King instead of reviewing a place that is far above their ability to taste great beer and food. I had the black and blue burger... incredible! Coconut Shrimp was to die for as was the Clam Chowder! I live in the Bay Area and it waas the best I've ever had! My wife said the same of her wedge salad as did my kids with their pasta and sliders. IPA's were more flavorful than any other commercial brew I've ever had and actually gave my own 9 time best of show winning Top Jimmy IPA a run for its money! Cocky again, but true! Highly recommend this place if you know food and beer... if not, go grab a Big Mac or a 7/11 burrito and stop ruining it for the rest of the civilized foodie world! : )

Stopped in here during a road trip from Seattle to Eureka. Had the Natty Red, Lager and Hef, and all were exactly as described on the menu. I probably liked the lager the most, but the Red had like 8.something percent alcohol, which was awesome. The food was great! Had the wings and burger, both off the late-night happy hour menu. Wings came with buffalo sauce and ranch on the side, but were well-seasoned, so I liked it better that way. Burger was also awesome, nothing different or unique about it, just really tasty for a good price. Also came with seasoned fries. Overall, dinner was really delicious, but I was also starving and drunk by then too. The server we had was also really cool. We came in 30 minutes before closing, and I have a feeling he had been busy all day bc there was a national track and field meet in town or something, but he was still really nice and helpful for the whole meal. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Eugene!

Good food. Delicious mushroom appetizer & spicy burger. Enjoyed my Vanilla Porter. Service seemed slow even though they weren't that busy. Waitress was pleasant if a bit forgetful - had to ask multiple times for a couple of requests. Overall experience was good - double date dinner & drinks before a movie, though I'm glad we weren't on a tight schedule.

Beer enthusiasts take note, Hop Valley has a great selection of.. you guessed it, malty/hoppy beers to choose from. They also have a fairly large menu, with a variety of selections. The food was good, but nothing outstanding. Onion rings were probably the best part of the meal. Light, crispy and very flavorful. Lunch for two of us, with beer and an app was less than $30.

Stopped here on our way back from Seattle, super awesome. The chicken schnitzel (sp?) is to die for and the beer is amazing too. Would have given 5 stars but the guy that sat us was complaining that they were going to be closing soon (turns out it was 2 hours after we were seated) so I guess he wanted to leave early. I get it dude but keep that to yourself or get somebody to cover for you!

The first impression with the hosts was not so great. Not overtly rude, but pretty curt. Our server on the other hand was definitely on top of things, and pretty nice. I wish the found had been better though. I had one of their burgers, which are smoked? Or something like that? End result, it tastes like a hot dog. Which is okay I guess, I like hot dogs, but sort of weird in general. I'd rather my burgers tasted like burgers. The chicken strips weren't that great either. Can't say I'd recommend it.

I've been to Hop Valley a few times and have always had a very good experience. I went on Saturday with my sister. She had never been there before and she loved it. We started out with the Calamari and a beer sampler. It was such a good idea! We got to try all the different beers and they were all so good! My favorites are DD Blonde, the Vanilla Porter, Natty Red, and 541 lager. It was so fun to try every one though. The Calamari was amazing with just enough seasoning and a delicious sweet plum sauce for dipping. We then each decided on a DD Blonde and the manager suggested an orange slice to bring out the flavor; such a good idea!! I've never heard of an orange slice to bring out the flavor of a beer but it was excellent! Later we each decided on the BLT and it was delicious. The bacon is amazing! It tastes like it's baked with maple syrup and peppered; very good! My sister got onion rings instead of fries and I got a salad. Her onion rings were one of the best I've ever had! They were crisp, not too greasy, and lightly battered. Perfect! My sister and I decided to splurge and got the vanilla porter cheesecake. If you go there and have room for it, get it!! It was one of the best cheesecakes I've ever tasted. The service we received was prompt and our server Amanda was more than accommodating and gave us amazing suggestions such as getting the beer sampler. I am definitely going back to Hop Valley! It's quite a drive being an hour and 1/2 away so they need to bring Hop Valley up to Portland! But I will make the commute for the beer in the mean time!

A bit slow on the service, actually quite repeatedly slow. Lots of "oh sorry" but after the 3rd sorry it's a little silly. Enjoyed the beer (natty red & imperial ipa). Brew house salad was tasty but the "stacked high with onion rings " was 3 onion rings. :-(. Good beer battered fries.

After a disastrous dinner last night in Grants Pass en route to Vancouver, I wasn't expecting much tonight. Hop Valley was conveniently located next to our Holiday Inn Express, and I figure $2.50 pints of microbrew (Monday special) couldn't be too bad. I actually ended up being pleasantly surprised by the food. We made it a point to avoid some of the dishes panned by previous reviewers here (mac & cheese, anything with frieds), and we ended up with an above-average fish and chips, a very decent Cajun sandwich, and an average-quality Reuben sandwich.. Still, on the whole the price was more than reasonable for what was served. With respect to the beer, the vanilla porter was a little gimmicky but good, and the pollenation honey ale was somewhat weak. Worth it for $2.50, overpriced at $4.00. A solid four stars to Hop Valley for being exactly what it purports to be -- a brewery which also serves reasonably-priced and solid American food.

Having visited Hop Valley a few more times, I give them another star (and a half, perhaps). I've found some good bets on their menu and would return if a group wants to go, despite my aversion to hoppy beer. You should be aware of a couple of consistent negative points. The soups and chili do tend to be salt-heavy, and by all means avoid the fries - they're undercooked. Fries are supposed to be crispy, folks... or have I missed some new trend in calling limp tater strips "fries?" Enough kvetching - on to the good news: Hop beer brat $7.95 does seem a bit steep for a brat, but they stuffed two of the suckers into an oversized bun, thereby vanquishing Excess Bun Angst. These are pretty good brats, and the mustard was medicinally strong (good, IMO). Diagnosis: delicious & filling. Creole Chicken Sandwich Props to the chef for not offering another boring rendition of the chicken sandwich. You'll get some strong flavors here - crunchy red onion, tangy remoulade, good quality greens, and sweet juicy tomato. The sauce was just a touch too sweet, but this is one of my sensitivities, and I bet most of you wouldn't notice. Seared Ahi Sandwich Here's the real winner. I've had this sandwich twice and enjoyed a generous slab of high quality tuna, perfectly seared and smartly paired with a tangy-sweet dressing (no complaints about sweetness here!) and one of my favorite flavors, cilantro. Chef thoughtfully included a dab of wasabi on the side.

The burgers are great, service is good. I don't see the hype on their beers but I have definitely had worse. All in all a much needed addition to the gateway area which lacks any decent restataunts.

The food here is nothing to rave about, but it is decent. The beers are good. I give it four stars rather than three due to their great happy hour deals. Where else can you get a burger and fries and three pints of microbrew for under $20? The 2/3 nachos for $4 is easily enough for two people. I've been several times, and will surely go again.

This is a simple one. I love this place. Great beer (award winning in my mind). As far as their food goes....I have yet to order something that isn't super tasty. Last thing I ordered was their pot stickers. Super good! I am always treated well by staff. They are timely and respectful even when it is busy. I decided to join their libation society. There was a waiting list of course. I just got excepted and talk about feeling special. You get a personalized mug and membership card. It's pretty sweet. My favorite beer there is the Double D Blonde. If you haven't been to Hop Valley you are definately missin' out.

I was so sad when the Villard pub closed but Hop Valley is a great substitution. They smoke their burgers, so they taste unlike any other burger in town. Husband is a beer fan and gives the brews a thumbs up. We enjoyed dinner with another couple and the wait person let us stay as long as we wanted...no hassles at all.

There is one overwhelming reason to come here....and it will be revealed at the end. We're from Chicago but have family in Springfield/Eugene and have been going to this location since the 1990's when it was Spencer's Brewery. Most of our visits were of the, "gee, not what it used to be..." flavor but this time it was ,"Hey, a lot like the old days..." The place had only been open a week (or less) but it was packed. They were obviously still working out the kinks as the wait for our beers was long and then Carol's entree (pasta, no salad or appetizer) arrived with my salad and my entree arrived before I finished my salad. Salad was plain but thoughtful (not just iceberg), and the right size; dressing for real, not out of a jar. Carol reports that the chicken fettucine was very good. I had lamb ribs. Totally perfect for the Atkins diet, with a 2-1 fat to meat ratio but I'm a totally Atkins type and was finger-licking happy. There might have been a potato mix-up, I was expecting steamed reds but got oven-fried tucked under the ribs. Still, a good match. I also tried the cream cheese sweet corn and totally recommend it as a surprising twist on southern-style fried corn. I had the beer sampler and there were no losers in the bunch but Oregon is a tough place for beer. The red ale paired best with the lamb, as the barbeque sauce brought out a nice red plum undertone. I love IPA's and thought the Alpaholic Ale the better of the two styles, again due the the fruit undertones, this time a subtle mandarin orange note. But the hands-down winner of the evening, I will definitely be back, you must try this beer, was the Vanilla Porter. Totally fabulous!! Dark chocolate, vanilla cream and dry...dry ...dry all the way down. BTW, nobody in Oregon knows what real tiramisu is but the cake was still good.

We arrived in Springfield around 11:00pm Friday for a late check in to our hotel. We didn't know the area and, because it is often hard to find a good place to eat after 10pm except in the biggest cities, we were all resigned to eating fast food or, if we were lucky, maybe a Denny's. Luckily for us, Hop Valley was directly across the street from our hotel and stays open late on Fridays (and Saturdays). The beer was the main attraction, which should come as no surprise given this is a real brewery. Usually I don't like beers with a fruit flavor, but I was especially fond of Citrus Mistress and will be looking for that in my local stores. Every beer we sampled was very good to outstanding. The staff was busy but got everything right, which is important to us finicky eaters, and the food was surprisingly good. I had the schnitzel sandwich and loved it. The side salads are large and a very good value. I'm told the ribs were good, and the taste I had of their beer-battered fried chicken left me wanting more--it was very good. The club sandwich was huge!

Stopped here for lunch after leaving the hospital that is nearby. We were looking for a place that had tables (not booths), where I wouldn't have to walk a long way and the food wouldn't be too spicy and this place seemed to fit the bill. We got there just as they were opening on a Sunday so we had our pick of the place. My DiL went in first and let them know that I had just had surgery and didn't want to have to go very far to get to the table and they went right to work to make sure we were accommodated. We all kind of shared an order of the mozzarella sticks. They were good, but by the time I opted in it was a little cold. Not sure if that is how they arrived or not. I did like that they used smoked mozz for a little different flavor than your typical beer house cheese sticks. For entree, I had the chicken schnitzel sandwich with fries. I have limited ability to open my jaw so I ended up having to deconstruct the sandwich. I have no idea what it would have been like with the bun, but the center portion of the sandwich it was good. With the breading on the chicken, I tend to think that it might have been a little to "bready" if I had eaten it as an actual sandwich. Since I hadn't really eaten much while I had been in the hospital, I was hungry, but was also full quickly so I only ate about half of the "sandwich" and a few fries, but that was definitely not because the food was not good. My husband had the fish and chips and gave me a bite of his fish and, as he would agree, had to be some of the lightest fish on a fish and chips platter I had ever eaten. I think were I to go back I might actually venture this way for my entree rather than one of the sandwiches. The service was good and they checked back on us a couple of times to make sure we had everything we needed.

Hop Valley is a great place to come and get solid, quality food. I am never disappointed no matter what I order. I love their pizzas, burgers and salads. But every dish I've had is a success! Megan is my favorite server. She's timely and gets the job done. Come here ready to have some great beer, quality food and a good time. PS. They have some amazing red velvet cake right now. Try it out.

It was ok. The food was so so. The blackened fish tacos were passable, but nothing worth going out of your way for. The 541 Lager was good. The server was a functionary who provided utilitarian service. Even acting like she was interested to be there would have been a step up. This place has the ability to be much better but seems to lack the desire. Try it if you must but there are better options.

Heard great things about this place and was excited to try it out.. Everyone said i would love the beer cheese soup.. And i did! Very good! But the wings, schnitzel sandwich, and cold mashed potatoes were not good.. But that wasn't the worst part... We started off with a nice server and then we got a server that was rude and put out that we were there. So maybe it was a one time thing but i wont ever be coming back due to lack of freindly service.. ..

First time here. First time ever here in Eugene oregon. Our hotel is right across the street so we walked here for dinner. Sunday they have brew and house burger I must say for someone who doesn't eat meat that often this burger was really good and not dry and full of flavor I paired it with citrus mistress ipa it was very good strong hops to it perfect. Hubby got the mac and cheese with the wings. Wings were spicy but good and so was his mac and cheese. Wil I go back yes I want to try there blt haha.

This place is great for a group of out-of-towners. The menu has a lot of diversity so it's easy to please a handful of people. Plus there is a good amount of space for a bigger table. The beers are also good, not my favorite, but they get it done. We were in about a week ago for a late dinner with only three of us-not a big deal. Usually the servers are extra nice, but this time we had a woman that did not even crack a smile one single time. That was simply off putting. It's the first time in years when I did not want to tip more than 10%. I can excuse slow service, getting the wrong food, even forgotten items, but I cannot stand it when a server acts put out or annoyed by their job. As a former server, I know that it's more important that you smile and have a good attitude to earn a tip than anything else. A pleasant attitude means more money in your pocket, and this server just did not earn her money on this night. Lucky for her my husband insisted on tipping better than I would have. She was the exception though, not the rule, for the overall server experience which is usually why I bring visitors here. The food is fine, not stellar, but good. The service is definitely the best part of this restaurant so I will keep my fingers crossed for next time.

Super friendly staff. Amazing beer and seriously excellent food!! The only thing that held these guys back from a five star rating was the scant, diner like decor and the slightly slow service. Otherwise, totally worth a visit!!

The good: The cheese sticks were amazing. Melissa our server was friendly and attentive. The bad: My $13 Angus beef cheeseburger was delivered as well done instead of medium as ordered - which normally isn't s problem I like well done. I just don't like it to chew like beef jerkey. My hope for the restaurant is that this was a rare mishap in the kitchen. I left a comment card at the restaurant with my contact info. It will be interesting to see if my comments are read and if they reach out. If they do, I'll update my comments here.

Both times I've eaten here were with large groups and not one person had anything but mediocre or poor remarks about their food. Not great quality and pricey for what you get. Not to mention the MR IPA fiasco. If you don't know what I'm referring to it's worth a google. A lot of their beers have class-less names: double d blond, citrus mistress, and MR ipa(when you find out what they really call it you'll be appalled). A tasteless establishment and not just the food and drink. I'll take my beer without the side of misogyny, thanks.

I was pleasantly surprised to have such a highly rated (per Yelp) brew pub right smack in the middle of hotel row. According to the regulars I met at the bar all their beer is good to great it just depends on your preferences. Having your choice of 3 IPAs is always a plus. I chose the Alphadelic IPA as a starter beer. As advertised it is hoppy but without the aftertaste. The quaffer next to be next to me was enjoying his Alpha Centauri IPA and he described it as smooth and flavorful. Want something lite try the DD Blonde or their Pilsner. They also have some happy hour and daily specials which will go easy on your wallet. Their food menu is equally good with a large selection of Apps and dinners. My stuffed burger was cooked per order and the beer battered fries are a must have. My only ding was the service. With 4 persons behind the bar I sat dry for over 5 minutes and only got their attention when I stood up and waved. Also had to ask for a menu and again had to flag someone over to order. With that being said I would overlook the service dings to enjoy their wonderful beer selection.

As a non-beer drinker, I never really considered Hop Valley when deciding on a place to go out for happy hour or dinner. However, after finding ourselves in the Gateway area around 4:30, we decided to give Hop Valley a shot for some appetizers and drinks. The place is a bit hidden among a couple hotels, but the place is actually quite large (considering it serves as both their brewery and a restaurant). The atmosphere was very lively--packed for 4:30 in the afternoon. There were plenty of TVs to watch the football/baseball games on that afternoon, which was great. After being seated by our fabulous server, we pondered the menu and decided to order some drinks. Although Hop Valley prides itself on its stellar brews, don't overlook their cocktails! I ordered their Electric Tide which was Bacardi, Chambord, and a mix of various fruit juices. For $7.50, it was a steal! We also ordered their spicy Bloody Mary, which definitely had the right kick to it. For food, we ordered the sausage sampler, which included their house-made bratwurst and smoked andouilli with a trio of sauces/glazes. The appetizer was absolutely delicious. You could definitely tell everything was house-made: none of that over-processed, over-salted stuff you get at chain restaurants! Although we didn't order any entrees, their menu had great variety and and everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. We will certainly be back to try Hop Valley for dinner!

I enjoyed my visit although it was very different than most brewery visits I've been on. Hop Valley had much more of a family/sports dinner spot than micro brewery. They did not offer tasting flights, which are one of my favorite adventures, but the food was above average and the service was good.

  • Ryan U.

The meatloaf dish was very good. The sauce was fantastic. We also had the the sausage plate appetizer which was brought out with three sauces/dips. They were excellent. The service was very attentive. Would return to this location.

Met a college buddy here for beers and a bite. The beers were great - samplers come in 6, 9, and 12 - we got a sampler with 9 beers. Sampler arrived in an un-labelled array but we figured out which beer was which. Ordered onion rings and hush puppies for appetizers. Both were good, especially the hush puppies. Girlfriend got the fish'n'chips, college buddy and I got the 'brewben' (reuben). Fish'n'chips were alright. The fish was fresh but flavorless. The ruebens were just ok. The main server was also the bartender and seemed irritated with us at first, but seemed to warm up after we had our order placed. Generally everyone that waited on us was friendly. In summary: would come back for the great beers and would try the food again.

  • Patrick S.

I ordered the Brewery Fried Chicken on the recommendation of my server and was disappointed with the entree. The chicken was over-cooked and dry. The breading was flavorless as well. The gravy and garlic mashed potatoes, although good, did not come close to making up for the lackluster chicken. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but should have known that with a 3.5 star rating on Yelp, it would not stack up. Go with your gut feeling and take a pass on this joint.

  • Jordan B.

I had the worst ribs I've ever eaten today at this place. RIBS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO BE TOUGH! They were so poorly cooked that I couldn't tear them apart with my hands. I had to saw each one apart with a steak knife. The flavor of the house sauce was basically nonexistent. I was with a group, and nobody actually finished their meals. The service was slow too.

Still can't figure out why it took 45 minutes to get a small lunch order at 3pm when only half the tables are full and there is plenty of staff around. Has to ask for water (after waiting 15 minutes and 100 degrees outside).... Beer is just "so-so", but maybe that's because we are so used to our amazing Bend breweries. Hoppin Cobb salad was excellent, as was the sandwich my friend had, but why the long wait?

The food is great as well as the beer. The bar tenders are pretty rude though. Very cold. I would have appreciated cordiality at the very least. Felt like I was in her way. Three stars for the good food and beer and feeling very unwelcome.

I have been dissapointed with most food in the Eugene area that people say is "good". Hop valley has the best burger I have ever had down to the buns they make from scratch

    (5)
  • Wella A.

This place has one of the most satisfying burgers I have encountered. It contains a juicy 1/2 lb burger patty with grilled pineapple, crispy onion ring, sweet and tangy barbecue sauce and maple glazed bacon. It's huge! I devoured it in 5 minutes because it bursted with flavor and of course I was ravenous at the time. I usually eat burgers without the bun or just half of it and because of its enormous size, I recommend either. I haven't had anything else nor do I have any interest in checking out other items after perusing the menu. This place seems to be like any pub house and serves the usual fare. The service was mediocre. There is a separate menu for burgers for a reason.

A good place for lunch or dinner. A great selection of food and a beer menu worth the time. It's not a spectacular place, but if you're staying nearby and need a place to eat, this is a solid option.

I was staying in the area and looking for a non-chain place for dinner. I hit the jackpot! My food was amazingly good- I got the H.V.B. Endeavor. It's a patty melt with grilled cheese for bread. Did you catch that? A juicy patty, melty cheese, and caramelized onions between two thin grilled cheese sandwiches on rye bread. So. Good. (It comes with sauce too, but that's not my thing...) The beer-battered fries were tasty too. Even the pickle spear got my stamp of approval. My drink choice may be slightly surprising since I was at a brew pub...but I'm not a beer fan. I got a Cosmo (don't judge me, they are full of citrusy goodness!). It was pretty good on my personal Cosmo scale. My hubby got the Big Kahuna burger (with pineapple, bacon, BBQ sauce, etc.) and loved it. He (like a normal person at a brew pub) enjoyed a beer, a vanilla porter. The service was good- she was attentive without being pushy/in my face. The ONLY reason my rating is a four and not a five? The atmosphere. There was a large group seated near us. Ok. That's cool. What wasn't cool was that the group was so loud that my hubby and I could not hear each other during most of the meal. The group was yelling (playfully arguing?), hitting the table, laughing really loudly, etc. It was to the point of a manager needing to say something.

Nice brewery ambiance. Food was very good. I had the 6oz steak and my wife got the fried chicken. Asked for rare got rare, kinda rare these days (excuse the pun), most places over cook. Garlic fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Seasonal veggie was green beans... grilled to perfection cooked but still had that snap. Staff was exceptional, our server Greg made some excellent recommendations. Wife's chicken was amazing, as good as the steak was I was almost regretting I didn't order the chicken. And as this is a brewery I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that my "Citrus Mistress" IPA was phenomenal. Wife being a non-drinker was pleasantly surprised that they had a house brewed root beer. All in all an excellent experience. We will make it a point to visit here on our next trip to Eugene.

This is a great place. Good food, good beer. I got a sampler of nine of their beers and the Big Kahuna burger. The burger had great flavor. The bacon was crisp and delicious, the onion ring was a nice touch, the sweetness of the grilled pineapple slice was a nice treat, and the BBQ sauce really pulled it all together. Their beers were just as good. In the mix was the Alpha Centauri IPA at 100 IBUs. I expected it to be a massive kick-in-the-face bitter taste, but was pleasantly surprised instead. It was really good. Even more surprising, I thought the other two IPA's I had tasted more bitter. Other beers worthy of note in my sampler were the Stout, the Porter, and the red.

For those staying in one of the many hotels in this section of Springfield, Hop Valley Brewing Company is the alternative to the many chains and fast food restaurants. I'm not a beer guy, but many of the people raved about it. Meanwhile, their food is above average, as is the service. This is a great place to come for a quick lunch or a long night of dinner and drinks. Inside and outside seating, a full bar and a couple of TVs set the stage for a nice experience. And, the food is pretty good, too. Even the side salad impressed. It came with cool, crisp, fresh, leafy greens and a pile of vibrant looking veggies, a welcome alternative to the many iceberg filled plates nearby. I had the turkey club, which put places like Subway to shame. The club was large enough for a horse and packed with lean, flavorful, fresh sliced turkey, crispy bacon and I switched out the mayo for a tasty stone mustard, which was awesome. My buddy hammered out a slab of ribs, that were good, too. All the food we saw pass us by on the way to other tables looked wonderful.

I love this place. It is always packed and a bit loud but it is in the middle of hotel row and that makes it too easy to not be full. The Hop Valley Hefe beer is very good. Last night I had the french dip. It was awesome. Plenty of meat and cheese on a house made french roll. That french roll made it amazing. It was the perfect texture to go with the sandwich and acted like a sponge with the Au Jus. Top that off with a horseradish sauce, this was a great sandwich. Any time I travel and need to stay in Eugene I stay right next door to Hop Valley because I know where I am going to eat.

This place is a very average place if you need a quick bite with friends. Good for business travelers as it is near a few hotels. We waited a good 12-15 minutes at our table before being greeted by our server -- one of only 3 times she came to see us that evening. We were already ready to order by that time. We had the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and they were luke warm. For the main course I had the beef stroganoff which had very good pan fried steak in it, but it was luke warm yet again with pasta that was very rubbery and tasted like it had been cooked for the past 8 years straight. This dish also came with a roll that looked and tasted like a 4 month old frozen pack of rolls you could buy at a truck stop. However there is a lot of negative at this restaurant, there is also a good part as well. The atmosphere inside is very social with many people at the bar and was completely booked at the time I went which was around 8:30 on a Monday. The beer list is extravagant with many many beers to choose from. To finish off the night I had a cup of freshly roasted hot coffee which finished the meal with a pleasant note -- almost a coverup for what happened earlier. -034

This is the 3rd time we (me and my boyfriend Ben) have been here and it has been consistently a great food and customer service experience! We have had a different waitress everytime too! This place should be on diners drive-ins and dives for a lot of stuff, but mostly their jalapeño hush puppies.

Great food in a loud pub atmosphere. The beer was also great (IPA) Great salad, beer battered fries, and all of our sandwiches were cooked perfectly. Will stop again when passing through. Service was great too, and we had a very short wait to be seated on a busy night.

Beer is A+. Alphadelic IPA and Alpha Centauri are sooo good. Burgers are AMAZING, pizza is very good, mozzarella sticks are a good choice for an appetizer. Service can be slow, but they are very busy just be patient! If you are travelling through Eugene/Springfield and are staying the night, this location is in the middle of a lot of hotels on Kruse Street. Worth staying in this area just for the convenience of a 30 second walk to a 5 star brewpub with food and beer that is way above average compared to other breweries that serve food. Do it. DO IT. .

I had a perfectly good club sandwich here on a busy Saturday afternoon. Pretty good. The bacon had some kind of sweet taste to it that would incline me to order a BLT next time to just get the full flavor of that. Only complaint- not very many fries served with the sandwich.

I was so excited to come here. My fiance loves their beer. We were passing through Eugene so we decided to stop. Hey... $9.99 burger and a pint all day on Sundays?! Heck yeah, I'll buy that. And then everything went downhill. Fiance ordered an Alpha Centauri and I ordered the Stepchild Red. Server took our orders, confirmed with fiance that his Alpha Centauri was going to cost an additional 50 cents, and then returned with two red. Hmmm... did she not remember the whole conversation they had about the upcharge on the Alpha? Anyway... it's easy to move past one oversight. Then, we both ordered burgers. In fact we both ordered them nearly identical: cold smoked, medium rare. Mine was to have gouda; his was to have swiss. Somehow I ended up with a well done, not cold-smoked burger and he got a well-done cold smoked. At least the cheese tasted good on our overcooked patties. Don't ask how we'd like it prepared if there is really only one option. Sides: he asked for potato salad and got fries. All in all - we enjoyed our beer. Our server was super friendly, but seemed to not be able to read her own handwriting, because she was taking notes as took our orders. I'll be back when i'm only thirsty.

A chance meeting between my mouth and some really tasty food. Home-made pastrami on the "brewben". Beer sampler. House made root beer. We were on our way from north to south Oregon and we needed lunch. Oh man, did we get a good recommendation from the lady at the Chevron. The red wasn't as red as Rogue Red but the Proxima hit the spot. Definitely try the sampler. And the chips. And and and. Just go.

This place is awesome! The food is great! I recommend the wings and burgers. Happy hour is always good.

Good beer. Have been coming here for years, but a bit disappointed in the cleanliness. Black mold behind the taps is gross. The viewing windows into the brewing area were filthy. The mirrors being the bar were filthy as well-bar service was disappointing. Girls are pretty but obviously don't know how to clean. Owners should be embarrassed. We love hop valleys beer and food and local ties and reputation, but this was a shock. Hire a janitor if need be, or at least a better one. Wait staff is obviously not getting it done.

After 900 miles of driving, I needed a shower, a shave, and some good grub. First 2 were easy enough, but choices in third were limited. Outback, IHOP, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc. Was about to bite the bullet and do Outback, when I saw this place. Really lucked out. The barkeep ran down a couple of beer options for me, recommended a good burger, and I had a pretty tasty experience overall. Burger was actually dressed very good-the one with BBQ sauce, cheddar, an onion ring, pineapple slice, etc. I've had better seasoned burgers, but this one was pretty tasty. If you're passing through the area, this local spot is definitely the way to go for good bar grub.

Stopped in here for lunch today. Started with some Hummus and Pita. They put a crater in the hummus and pour in some Olive oil, I could have done without that. The hummus was pretty good. There are also some cherry tomatos, cucumbers, and olives on the plate. It all tasted wonderful. I used the cucumbers instead of the Pita...trying to watch the calories. Main course I got the Grilled Buffalo Chicken salad, hold the bacon! Man...I was sad, as Bacon could be a 7 course meal for me. It comes with a bluecheese dressing, which I had the put it on the side. The salad was really good, you could eat most of it without dressing as it had Frank's hot sauce on it. We got there at the right time, it wasn't busy, we were seated immediately and the food came out fast.

Beer was great. Ordered fish and chips, mozarella sticks, pizza, onion rings and the fried chicken. The fish and chips were okay with a thick batter. Almost overwhelming as it had strong pepper flavor in the batter. The fries were tasteless. Onion rings and mozarella sticks were the best ive ever had. Thick and crispy the cheese was very high quality. I had it with ranch dressing unfortunately very watery and tasteless ranch. I should have gotten the burger which looked great on other customer tables. The brewery fried chicken was a complete mistake. Tough and dry it was like biting into turkey jerky. Had to return it and reverse the order. Overall ok for lunch but not for dinner.

I've been here multiple times and always have a good time. The food here is really good -- I think it's better than the Eugene location. I'm a big fan of the happy hour sliders. They are $4.99 and delicious. The beer is also pretty awesome. I like the Vanilla Porter, but I've also had a few of their IPAs. Really tasty.

I just went here two nights in a row. The first night they got my order slightly wrong by putting mayo on my burger. The second night I ordered the Cuban as I wasn't impressed with the Lucca Brazzi burger the night before. I was equally disappointed with the Cuban. The beer wasn't very good either. This pales in to comparison to my visit here several years ago (the food, beer, and service was much better) and I won't be going here again if I can help it.

Food was just ok. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but chili lime pork tacos sounded fantastic. Pork was excessively dry and did not have much flavor, tortillas were either stale or sat in the window too long, and the salsa was just meh. I doused my 3 tacos in Cholula and ate them anyway. Bartenders were not unkind in any way they just weren't overly friendly. I sat with an empty glass of wine for a fair amount of time. Their brew selection is vast, the Vanilla Porter was ahhhhhmmmmaaazing. Wine list is pretty decent. A few varietals from Oregon, California and Washington. I would definitely return for happy hour if I was a local and with friends, but would find somewhere else for dinner.

We ordered soup and were asked if we wanted rolls or garlic bread but then were charged for it. If it's extra you need to let me know! But she didn't charge us for one beer since she poured it by mIstake so that was nice. Good beer and & good food!

Good beer selection doesn't help when you turn customers away 10 minutes before closing time. Look, I get the "last call" idea, but there were still about a dozen patrons in the bar, and our massive party of 3 was looking forward to grabbing a quick drink at the end of our day. You really can't pour us one each at the end of the night? Clearly, closing at 11 means closing at 10:50. No beer for you!

Great beer, great service, great atmosphere, average food. My first experience at this restaurant was a good one. The lager beer was delicious, but my fish and chips - while good - were not anything special. My wife ordered one of the pizzas and it was very disappointing. The toppings and cheese kept sliding off, the cheese was rubbery and the flavor was just not there. We very rarely do this, but we sent it back. The waitress was excellent. She genuinely wanted to know what we didn't like and gave no push back at all. When we got something different, they even charged us for the cheaper item; not something most restaurants would do. Best thing about their food is their salads. We both added side salads and at $1.99 it was a steal considering everything that was on it. Based on the service alone, I'll be going back.

The burgers are to die for, as are the fries. But you gotta bring a bib, they are messssyyyy. I also tried a chicken schnitzel and loved it. Good flavors, so tasty and filling. But seriously, bring extra napkins!

The beers I had were just ok. The food was typical and the service was ok. Not a bad place to stop if you are driving but not worth going out of your way. The logo and look of the place are great, to bad the rest is not.

Had a great experience here. Waiter had excellent service. Read mixed reviews about this location, but am glad we had a great time. Food was hot, flavorful, and on time. Beers were delivered no longer than 2 minutes from order; sweet. Inside is not a high end restaurant, it's a beer joint... so don't expect anything more (and I don't take reviews from people who misuse words and lack punctuation seriously). Had the Sausage Sampler, Hop Wings (Habenero Mango), Chili, and Side Salad... all which were fresh and tasted great! Beers were the Proxima IPA (girlfriend's choice), Vanilla Porter (tried due to the many reviews of it), and the Alpha Centauri IPA (my favorite). Overall, great experience and great food. Will definitely come back again!

My one visit a few evenings ago resulted in food poisoning late that night. I think the sauce they serve with the onion rings had been sitting out (contained mayonnaise, I'm pretty sure). Place was crazy busy in the bar area and has terrible acoustics. Didn't seem very clean; bathroom needed cleaning. Needless to say, I won't be going back.

Excellent beer, great service, awesome atmosphere! My dad and I stopped in here during a road trip for some beers, pizza, and Caesar salads. Seriously amazing salad! Tried the nitro beer, it was pretty smooth. Worth a try. Pizzas are pretty small, but with a salad, can definitely be shared.

So...I really wanted to like this place, sadly it sucked. The service was poor. My wait person couldn't answer simple dietary questions & it took 15 minutes & 2 requests for water. If you are in need of gluten free food- do not go here! There is only a salad for your choice! I was hoping for a great vegetarian gluten free option since it's so close to Eugene & my regular Medford options blow. Find another option or Hop Valley get with it & diversify your menu (and step up with more helpful/speedy/knowledgeable waitstaff)! Oh and P.S. The beer was warm!

I found the food to be very disappointing. I ordered the brewery fried chicken, and it didn't come close to matching the menu description. The chicken was like rubber. It was supposed to be breast meat stuffed with thigh meat. I didn't detect any thigh meat. The garlic mashed potatoes had very little garlic, and were also lukewarm. The vegetables were the only thing on the plate that I enjoyed. My wife had the beef stroganoff. It was also lukewarm, with a blob of ice cold sour cream in the center. The beef was tough and we had a contest to determine if anyone could find a mushroom. Most restaurants would have been embarrassed to charge more than $8 for the serving she got...but this cost almost twice that. Also, the plate was mostly pasta, served with a starchy roll...and no vegetable. The beverages were very good, and I would go back for the bar. Perhaps I would have beer and bar snacks or appetizers, but I would go elsewhere for a dinner.

Beer is excellent... Food is mediocre at best. They use the lowest quality of meat in stroganoff ...tastes similar to liver. The house burger that we ordered Medium cam out dry Well. Come for only the beer. I had to season my food to give it flavor.... Giving the burger to our puppies.

  • Nyles W.

The food here has really improved since they first opened. Much more consistent and the prices are very fair. Service is always good and the beer....... The beer is amazing. If your not I to the whole local beer thing there is still some lighter beers. Just a great selection.

Not very impressed with this place at all. I sampled a few beers and they were pretty pedestrian. I ordered snacks at the bar and that was pretty gross too. Plus it smelled weird at the bar, like it needed a thorough cleaning. My advice is to skip it and go to Ninkasi.

I came just for a beer and to watch the game, since we were staying at the Holiday Inn. Grabbed the Proxima IPA, very good, light bitter flavor. If you are into IPA's I strongly suggest this. Also, service is awesome here!

The food was so amazing. The mixed drinks? Not so much. I had the bacon and basil pizza. Next time I want to try the pork tacos. If I go again I'll stick with beer or wine as the liquor seems to he very watered down.

We stopped in here right after the Eugene marathon. This place was busy, though I obviously was not really surprised by that fact since there were certainly a lot of people in town... Given the fact that it was unusually packed, it's hard to rate the service. I think they did a pretty good job though given the circumstances. The food took a long time but they were so backlogged with orders it totally did not surprise me. The waitress was awesome though that she took the orders for all of our parties kids first and ensured that their food came out as quick as she could (to keep them from melting down). It's typical pub fare, the burger was good, large, and cooked well. They had onion rings, which I always think is a plus. While I didn't drink (being the DD) I can't have a real opinion on their beer but my wife had a couple of pints and said it wasn't bad. Really, a typical bar with a typical bar menu. All around good experience.

This brewery has decent food. Beer is great, love hoppy beer. The service is terrible. The first time I was there we were seated at a table in the bar, we waited so long for service that we decided to order to go. I ate at the bar the other 2x and I was not offered silverware or napkin. I could've used a plate for the jalapeño fritters as they came with a drippy honey sauce, and I was sharing it. You have to interrupt staff to get something as they are very social and make very little eye contact. I will forego this establishment in the future unless I go down to the other one on 1st, where I've had much better service even tho it's an 'order at the bar' place. They still come by your table to make sure your doing well.

Good burger and good wings. The Sunday burger and brew is one of the better deals in town and with good quality ingredients. The wait staff is very friendly and attentive! Modern and clean atmosphere definitely will be back!!

Great place to have lunch! The bacon beer cheese soup was fantastic. And I got to enjoy the chicken schnitzel sandwich as well. We were seated in a very timely manner and the waitress was very friendly and fast. I did not get to try a beer but heard great things about them as well.

Great beer & food + great service = awesome review. If the service is subpar so is my review, hence the 3 stars. I sat at the bar and had the beer sampler & the Gouda Mac N Cheese. The restaurant was busy and the staff was pretty rushed trying to keep up. I don't need a lot of attention other than checking back to make sure the meal is OK. This is a great place to sample Hop Valley's large brew selection and menu.

I'm not sure why there's so many 1-3 stars. This place has good solid delicious food and the beers are great! I had the shrimp linguini tonight and it was fantastic. The bartender even made a beer for me by mixing 2 different beers on tap that tasted as close as possible to my favorite beer-Newcastle. To me...that's customer service! I highly recommend this place.

Good food with good service. They allowed me to have my dog on the patio which was a bonus. Brought my entree before I had even gotten half way through my salad which wasn't so great. Both times I have eaten here, the food has been good, but not anything to rave about.

    (3)
  • Jay P.

I went with a co-worker here and this place is really good at customer service, but the food was a bit off. I had the pulled pork sandwich and the sauce was off for me. I know this is not a bar b que joint but they could have made it a bit better by not making it gourmet. The onion rings on the sandwich was a bit overkill and just tasted nothing but grease. Plus the food is a bit on the spendy side and just not worth the price.

Five star service and three star food. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgable. He knows the beer and gave good advice. My wife thought her burger was great. My sausage appetizer was good. My wedge salad was hard to work with, the dressing not so good, the grapes and nuts not so good for a wedge salad. I was impressed with the beer selection. There is an amazing selection. I mostly looked for high ibu but there were other choices that were very good. Our previous experience several years go was not good. There have been great improvements.

  • Forest S.

I recently moved to Eugene and am just starting to explore the brewery scene here. This place has really good beer, and pretty good food, although the menu is a bit limited. That's not a problem when you're really looking to have a beer and enjoy this wonderful weather from the semi-enclosed patio area (shade in the summer and protection from the rain in the winter. We had the Vanilla Porter and the High Five out of the cask. For lunch we had a caprese sandwich, italian beef, and an order of nachos (with chili). Oh, and the beer cheese soup was really good too.

The Hop! Such an exciting phrase around work. "Hey! If we meet our goal today, we'll go to The Hop at 1:00pm!" From there 20-30 people show up and start to consume glasses of tasty brew. I won a $25 gift card at work the other day to Hop Valley. I decided to have my wife meet me for lunch. Looking over the menu, damn this place is expensive. Seriously? A cobb salad for $12?? It was a good sized salad, but come on.... Last time I ate here I had a burger which was pretty nasty. Things haven't changed. I got the Braumaster Burger. It was a really basic, lackluster burger with swiss and a honey mustard. The worst part is they cooked Caraway into the burger. Now, I never realized exactly what caraway was, now I understand that it's that NASTY taste that comes on some rye breads. I personally dont care for it. I know others may love it, but to my tastebuds it's kryptonite. The burger was really juicy and burnt! It was so crazy. With such a hard burnt outside, you wouldnt expect the inside to be what it is. They need to learn how to cook a damn burger. If you come here, stick to the brews. Im a fan of the Alphadelic. A really tasty beer with a great hop flavor and a nice punch. It's pretty easy to catch a buzz off a few of them. Pollinator was another tasty brew I would suggest you give a shot. Next time I come here it's pretty simple, 1 Alphadelic please. Food did you say? Hell no, just bring me a tasty beer. This is a 1 star review if you factor out the brew.. If you're in the mood for some good beer, this is a great spot..hence the additional 2 stars...If quality of food, or hidden gem type grub is what you're hoping to find, you wont see it here. HOP VALLEY IPA!!

We got there around 6pm on a Tuesday and were seated immediately! The waitress came over and got our drink order and came back within 5 min with our drinks! We were kinda surprised how fasted the drinks came. The beer was amaxing we got the DD Blonde and there mixes drinks were good too. We oreder an artichoke dip with pita bread which was amazing! The only down fall with that was after we ate some of it it become super oily. My hunsband got the big kahuna burger and it was amazing!!! He loved the food and said he would love to come back. I on the other hand got the beef stroganoff and it was ok more like a pasta dish and it was just ok. We will deffentaly come back I just woun't order the dip or beef stroganoff.

I've been here four times on business travel and am rating it from that perspective. You typically get Applebee's, Chili's, etc in these kind of scenarios. That means $7 bud light and meager food pairings. Then you come here and get craft beer for as little as $2.25 a pint. Paired with offerings like seared ahi! So good beer, solid food and your hotel across the parking lot. Hard to beat! (and yes, service has been consistently friendly) The room for improvement: It's a brewery but the staff seem generally ignorant to the offering. No flights. No half-poors. No awards on the wall.

  • Katherine S.

This place is pretty awesome. Everything on the menu is pretty excellent. Except the meatloaf it was pretty nasty. My favorites are the ribs, fish and chips, and of coarse house burger. U hsve to ask then for it smoked. If u don't then the will bring it to u regular but still tasty. I love there fries. Beer selection is obviously good but I'm staying away from beer cause I'm preggers.

Driving through Oregon on our way to CA, we made a stop here, and were underwhelmed. The beer was okay, the ambiance was okay, and the service was attentive. What really killed our visit was the food. The Hummus Platter really needs some work (ie: add Feta and heat up the Pita); nobody likes cold Pita with hummus. Nobody.

Had lunch here last year with a friend. She told the food is "just okay." Unfortunately, she was right. She just finished off the top half of her chicken Caesar salad. I thought I'd try the chicken strips, thinking that would be safe. They were "just okay."

Good food, good beer, friendly staff and very reasonable prices. There are two parts in the place, the restaurants and the bar side. The restaurant side was kid friendly and full of children of all ages, but sitting in the bar area you don' t even notice.

Would never go back. waitress was rude, service was incredibly slow and we sent our burger back twice with the first time it having the wrong toppings on it, and the second time because it was cold and burnt to hell (not really sure how you manage this unless you just let it sit on a shelf for someone who sends something back) we did not ask for another burger, just the check Beers were meh, nothing special.

We've been to Hop Valley a couple of different times for their happy hour. + Happy hour drinks/food options + Large bar area + Growler fills available + Happy hour portions were plentiful - Happy hour not available on Fridays or Saturdays Hop Valley is a solid option when you're craving a microbrew and inexpensive (greasy) eats during happy hour!

My favorite restaurant in Eugene/Springfield. They have awesome food, great atmosphere, and attentive service. I have to recommend the smoked mozzarella sticks for your appetizer. For my meal, I usually get the fish tacos (not fried) or the Cobb salad. The grilled chicken on the top of the Cobb is really good. The decor is creative ;the lamps are made of repurposed growlers. Despite being a brewery, Hop Valley is very family friendly. The waiters and waitresses are very nice, too. Love, love, love Hop Valley.

Would be 5 stars if not for inconsistent service and they need hopper IPAs. Good IPAs overall though. Hoppy hour is a great value and so is Sunday beer and burger for $10. Their burgers are yummy! Good selection of tasty food and a chill atmosphere. Awesome onion rings! Their servers range from poor to decent. One super smiley hostess made up for it. All of in all I recommend!

  • Suzie H.

I'm obsessed with their yummy soups and huge salads. They definitely don't skimp on their toppings. Our friendly server Karen suggested a couple of beers that I'd never heard of and they went really well with our entrees. I used to avoid this place because of their lackluster food and poor service but both have improved tremendously over the past couple of years. I realize that there isn't a lot of competition but I think they might be the best restaurant is Springfield.

Close to the hotel and a brewery. Nice. The vanilla stout was good. I had the mac n cheese with broccoli. Decent, filling and good for a run the next day. My friend on the other hand had the pizza, a new addition to the menu. She couldn't eat the crust, it wasn't cooked. She ate the toppings. What a bummer. Pizza is pretty simple. I wouldn't go back, unless just for the beer.

Great atmosphere. Our server Destiny at the bar was great. In town for the Vols vs Ducks. Beer was excellent and happy hour appetizers of nachos and wings were very good. Hot wings the best. Beer exceptional especially their signature IPA? Sending the Big Orange nation for a good value and met a lot of cool Ducks.

So you want a decent beer and a burger. Nothing fancy, and you're sick of the other local restaurants you frequent more often. You find yourself at Hop Valley because, well, you can figure you'll satisfy your requirements. It may not be the best beer ever, nor the best burgers, or even the best service, but you wont go hungry or thirsty. Nothing terribly original or unique about HVBC, it really reminds me of many other chain restaurants. Standard menu fare, pretty good beer selection. Pretty good chance you won't have major issues with service or food. You won't hate yourself for going here, but you probably won't remember anything spectacular either.

I really like Hop Valley beers, so I was excited to try their brew pub. I went today, 5/23/2014. The beers were great, as expected. I had a 12 beer sampler, +2. There were some issues with the food and service though. * The hush puppies were, without a doubt, the best I've had. *Waitress only took our order after asking her to do so. *Waitress never came back after our food was dropped off. We had to flag another waitress to give us our bill. *Seared ahi was seared well, but had no flavor. *Mashed potatoes with smoked cheese was flavorless. *Seasonal veggies were pretty good. *There were feathers fried into about half our order of wings. I'd sit in the bar and have beer. I might even try dessert, but I wouldn't eat here again. Disappointed.

The Cuban and club sandwiches was really good and the beer-battered fries were yummy. I don't drink, so the variety of beer is lost on me. My wife loved the smoked gouda mac and cheese. This place has a huge menu. If you can't find something you like here, you're too picky!

Went during happy hour and the food was fair (sun-thur 3-6.) Would be a little on the expensive end if it were normal hours but I would say the prices where pretty cheap for happy hour. My wife and I ordered grilled fish taco's and when they had came out they were fried. We let it slide instead of taking another half hour to get our food right. The server even distinctly asked us if we would like fried or grilled. O well, I can sleep at night (4$.) Onion Rings were very good, nice crisp batter, onion didn't "slip" out of the beer batter and the dipping sauce had a nice tang to it (2$.) Also ordered the nacho's, I like a good cheap bar nacho's with chili, but the chips on it were very soggy. Once again, I will sleep at night (4$.) The slider's and fries however were very tasty, nice beer batter on them which I like, it adds a nice crunch (5$.) Our last item ordered was a margherita pizza. I guess I should have known better at a bar but the cheese was very cheap mozzarella. It just fell off of the pizza and the crust was not anything to speak of. But, I should of known at a place known for their beer they would not have a spectacular pizza (5$.) The Dr. Ziggy's root beer they make in house was actually very tasty, for 3 dollars I would say it was a fair buy. Also ordered a stepchild red amber ale, I liked it a lot, was advertised at 4.5 for a pint, but it came out on the receipt during happy hour at 3.25, what a great deal! The server was very friendly but her service was a bit slow. took about 15 minutes to get a beer and was only served 1 water for 2 people. took our orders after 20 minutes and received our food after about 45 minutes of arriving. A few times when I was waiting for her to take my credit card she was intently chatting with 2 other servers about 20 feet from our table for about 5-10 minutes, that was a little annoying, but hey I took a few bucks off the tip so I guess I wasn't that upset in the end. I might go back but there are a lot of good brewery's in Eugene that I can go to. If I am in the gateway area and want a beer I would say this should be your stop. But, I wouldn't drive across the 5.

4 stars for the beer selection. 4 IPAs and they were all tasty. Very loud, which may bother some, but not me. My son loved the Mac and cheese. I had the ribs which were just okay. We had an appetizer of hush puppies which were awesome!

Delicious food and beverages! Classic brew pub setting. We were staying nearby and happy to see a brew pub within walking distance. I immediately thought of running over there to have a cold glass of Oregon Pinot Gris wine and a salad. I know, not very brew pub-y, but I can usually find both at similar establishments. We were not disappointed with the burgers, brew and wine. The apple cobbler and Tillamook (yum!) vanilla ice cream was a great treat. Quality food, good service and decent prices. GO!

Food = 5 (candied bacon pizza...AAA) Price = 5 Experience = 5 (what a great brewery... I like every part of it. The branding here is very impressive... I really like the place)

Not impressed. It's a brewery so the most important thing is the beer which I would give three stars. It's fine but nothing exciting or creative. I had a flight of 6 including both IPA's and their winter Festeroo. I've read everyone recommends the vanilla porter but they were out when I went. All the beers were pretty standard. I only ate the chili which wasn't very good. Not the worst but not the best. My biggest problem with this place is the decor. It's kind of depressing inside. The furniture looks like it was bought at a going out of business sale at Bennigans. This place needs a major face lift. It felt so uncomfortable inside that I couldn't wait to leave.

Outdoor seating is nice, wide selection of beers. Food is mediocre, to be generous. Service was bad enough to fill out a comment card on. Not impressed. The place is in walking distance for me and I still won't be going back.

I love their Porter!! I haven't had a dark beer I've ever liked. Not even Guinness. But I love this beer. If I ever go by again in grabbing at least a couple growlers.

Great little brew pub. I had a couple of different IPAs and they were each very good solid all around beers sure to please any hop head. The food is above average pub fare, I especially enjoyed the potato salad that came with my burger. Definitely recommend.

Local brews. Good menu for happy hour weekdays 4-6pm with good selections including Hummus and Fish Tacos. Decent food. Good prices. Ahi Tuna Salad is good.

We enjoyed the Citrus Mistress, very tasty! He liked his fish and chips, and I liked the portabella sandwich, though I wish it had more portabella! It was flavorful and quite delicious. Our waitress, Lauren, made good suggestions and was very attentive to our needs. We would go back again.

We went to Hop's because it was close to our hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Most everyone's meals were good. Mine, however, was disappointing. I had the fish tacos. They were essentially grilled tilapia filets in tortillas. There appeared to be some sort of sour cream sauce on the tacos but it was watery and didn't add anything. Also, the chips served on side were cold and stale. It was really disappointing. I'm sure there are better dishes to try and, if we ever stop any Hop's again, I'll skip the fish tacos. Hop's seems worth the gamble. If it weren't for my "Unhappy Meal", I'd have given the place another star.

I started going here several years ago when it first opened. Never crowded , it had the best happy hour in town. It was our fave "meet up spot" . I joined the Libation Society, I had an engraved mug. I went to events. I still like it - but I don't love it like I did when it was in the 2X a week rotation. I now prefer the new HV in the Whit. Why? hmmm the food has changed. Not as tasty & less expensive ingredients, grilled fish tacos became fried, and the hummus is not near as good as it used to be - the specials are not quite as good. Long waits , crowded at times. I had a reservation once with my company and I had to wait with my boss and co- workers a full 40 minutes because they accidentally gave our reserved table away. The beer I think is better now, HV beers are tasty now, but much improved by comparison over the initial start up beers . That being said, I still go here - I intro'd my co - workers & they LOVE it ! My boss comes in from South Dakota and swears by the chicken , other employees by the ribs and the iceberg salad. I like the ahi salad and veggie burgers. My client from China loved the 541 lager and a burger. Every client I take here wants to go back. Hotels all around - so it's a good place to chat with out of towners at the bar. Solid choice for visitors and an occasional pre-movie lunch/brew.

Changed this review to a 3 star based on the fact the owner contacted me about the food. I am impressed, he cares about the experience we had and wants to improve. We will definitely give this place another shot next time we are able to come back.

Went for dinner and the food was very good. Meatloaf, Mac & Cheese, Burgers, Sandwiches, Pizzas, we've tried them all and have returned time and time again. Beers were tasty, but just average compared to other Oregon breweries. Wait staff was very good and really on top of things on a busy evening. This is our "go to" stop when in Springfield/Eugene and as long as they keep things going to the same standard it will remain so.

It's a beer joint, so how good or bad can it be? I enjoyed the Natty Red and the Nitro Bubble Stash was a good choice, too. The french dip sandwich was okay, but had an odd smokey flavor I wouldn't have expected. The fries were nice. The real standout for me were the fish tacos, each of the three tacos having a crispy grilled tilapia fillet. If you are in the area, it's a worthwhile stop to enjoy some different brews.

I wish Yelp would let me use half stars, because Hop Valley is an absolute 3 1/2 stars. The food was very good, especially the onion rings and the steaks. I tried 3 beers and they were all excellent! The service was very pleasant, courtreous and friendly, but also rather slow. Our waitress took long breaks between visits to our table. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

Definitely disappointed by the BJ's feel of this joint. The beers were unexpressive (vanilla porter nice, but doesn't make the brewery as a whole). They were out of at least 3 brews that I wanted try as well. Basically, all your classic brewskis here: a version of red, and IPA, a Hef, a blonde. Happy hour nachos were tasty, but nothing special. Don't go here if looking for "Oregon Craft Beer" experience. Go to Oakshire and avoid embarrassing yourself in front of your friends who trust your opinion and due diligence, you yelper, you.

Nachos: Pretty classic bar nachos. Just a big pile of toppings on a small stack of chips at the bottom. They need to be distributed better, for example in alternating layers. They should also serve them more quickly, or use different chips, because these were soggy. If they didn't all bear the weight of a big mountain of toppings, they might also be more crispy. The waitress brought more chips though. I also had the home brewed rootbeer, and that was really good. Atmosphere: I didn't care for the atmosphere. It didn't feel cozy at all, and the seating was kind of awkward. Chairs on one side, booth bench on the other. Loud sports noise blasting from the TV. Service: Meh. Waitress was nice, but brought us a wrong dish. Nothing really wrong with the service, it just didn't stand out either.

The food is as good as expected for a bar and grill. I'm thinking some of the reviews here may have unrealistic expectations of the kind of food one would expect at this sort of establishment. The Stuffed Black and Bleu burger I had on my last visit was fantastic as well as the fries. Of course, I always enjoy sampling Hop Valley's own beers which are of very high quality. The Vanilla Porter is a must try! The only reason I am rating 4 stars instead of five is I feel that while the quality is on par with a bar and grill, the pricing is just a wee bit high. But then again, maybe my expectations there are not realistic, and the service I have experienced at other similar establishments was not as good. I suppose you can't expect Nordstom service at a Walmart price. I definitley recommend Hop Valley for your next "fun outing" type of dinner!

The great beer selection here is overwhelming, and the prices are reasonable. I went here two nights for dinner while I was in the area, and while I really enjoyed the beer, the food was just "OK".

GO TO OAKSHIRE!!!!! To start, I wish I could put zero stars for Hop Valley. I was served a burger at Hop Valley today with obvious MOLD throughout a tomato slice that was put on my burger. I took one bite and instantly tasted the MOLD, which the server recognized when I showed them. Their only solution was to give me back my money and wait for me to leave. The server even left the table before even asking if I needed ketchup or mustard before biting into the most disgusting burger I've ever had. I will never again support anything connected with Hop Valley after that experience!!! LONG STORY SHORT, KEEP DRIVING OR WALKING TO OAKSHIRE BREWERY!!!!

Hop Valley, sorry about this review, but you kind of let us down. We'd heard good things about you, and the menu looks great, so we were very excited to try your restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience didn't live up to our expectations. I filled out a comment card in the restaurant as well, but here are the details: The interior of this restaurant is a small improvement from that terrible, terrible German place that used to be here, in that they have a nice big bar with giant beer mugs hanging over it. They also have three large screen TVs, great quality, for watching sports. I'm going to assume this is a plus for most people, to us it was a minus. We don't care for sports, which would be fine, I'm glad other people can come enjoy a game here, but I have to say: the volume of the football game was on right above our heads, and it was loud! Just in general, something about the lighting didn't feel right. The combination of dim bar lights washed out by the gloomy light coming through the large windows, filtered through dark gray skies, made the interior feel very depressing. The bar booths looked a little run down too, with the walls around us being full of dent and pieces where the paint had been scraped off the drab yellow dividers. The service was very friendly. Refills were a bit slow now and then (but maybe I was just drinking the iced tea very fast), and did bring us the wrong thing initially, but our food came out shortly after, and the waitress was welcoming and helpful! The food was really our biggest gripe here. The bad: The bacon cheese soup tasted like someone stirred bacon sprinkles into a cup of warm spraycan cheese. So thick you could eat it with a fork, the cheese tasted like artificial smoke flavoring and processed "cheese-product". Ever seen those big bacon cheeseballs, for the holidays? The soup tasted like what I imagine would happen if you microwaved those cheeseballs. Not good. (just clarifying, for those who actually love those cheeseballs haha) The nachos were just your average, classic nachos (sour cream, olives, beans, ground beef, sliced jalapenos, melted cheese, and pico de gallo). The chips were on the soggy side though, and there was WAY too much topping relative to chips (the waitress spontaneously offered to bring more chips, so I'm guessing she gets complaints about this). Overall the taste was fine though, they're bar nachos like most others. The good: The hush puppies were nice! They are big and soft, which I appreciate, because a lot of places over-fry their hush puppies, making them dry and hard. They have a bunch of cream cheese on the inside, which is an especially nice touch. We didn't care for the avocado dipping sauce that came with it, we'd have preferred something with a little kick to it (there are jalapenos in the hush puppies, but they're not spicy). I would've loved to see these with some dipping sauce options like a pepper jelly or creamy cajun dip. My husband really liked the root beer, which is brewed in house. Tastes a bit different from most root beers, but in a good way. He would definitely order it again and recommend it to others. Conclusion: As you can see, this is probably more of a two star review. However, I think we are to blame somewhat for this, because of the choices we made. We tried none of the famous beers, nor did we have any entrees. So we'll go ahead and give them three stars. We'll try it again, and hopefully next time will be better!

This place actually gets 3.5 stars. Went here to watch a game. The staff was decent. Our server was nice and funny. The bar area is a little awkwardly shaped, but was able to see a TV screen or two wherever you sat. The atmosphere was good for the game. Liked the beer selection. There is a couple of drinks for everyone. The food was alright. Nothing great, just typical bar food. I am a huge fries person and I didn't really like the fries here. They were kind of on the soggy side... The nachos were big!

By far the best brewery we stopped at on our vacation. From the service to the food everything was AWESOME! Their vanilla porter is the best I've ever had. Smoked bacon cheese soup that the wife ordered was off the hook! Waitress was very friendly and treated my son exceptionally. This is a place that everyone needs to try. One of the best all-around breweries I've ever visited.

I was here on Christmas Eve, and was so pleased with the service, the beer, and the food. I ordered the "No Name Burger" and loved it! Moderate noise, not too loud. Waitress attentive. A good experience.

Cool ambiance, great place to chill and wind down. Great variety of brews and a menu that could feed anyone. Best of all, the customer service rocks! Mcmenamins take some lessons. Have the Hoppin Cobb (it's awesome) and wash it down with a Natty Red.....enjoy!

Horrendous customer service. I bought some of their beer at Walmart it was stale. When I called the brewery to inform them the man (I think he was David, honestly not sure) was so rude he wouldn't let me finish a sentence. He informed me there is NO "fresh if used by" date or code on the bottles. How can a customer know if a bottle is fresh? Who cares! They don't. He had the nerve to tell me to call Walmart. REALLY? You don't put dates on your bottles how do you know how old it is? There are so many genuinely great breweries locally that there is no need to throw your money away on beer that may or may not be fresh, there's no way to tell and the company doesn't care.

Beer was great and a lot of different types on tap. We sat at the bar and the staff was great. Food was good. LIke our hotel said, food good-beer better. It is worth a stop if you are staying at the Courtyard. It is right across the street.

Nice beer selection. The beer soup is fantastic. Appropriately tattooed servers with nice curves don't hurt either. Had the Thai tiger salad with tuna. Wish the Tuna had some more seasoning as it got lost in the spicy lime dressing. Maybe blackened??

Great food and beer but HORRIBLE service. Wait staff eating dinner and counting tips while sitting at a table next to us. Waitress barely spoke to us. We were her last table and she actually asked if she could take our credit card receipt so she could cash out for the night!!! I am rating this at 3stars, the food and beer saved the rating.
