Popped in here last evening 4/8 on the way to a friends house. I have to say that this place is a hidden gem. I have been over in this area many times and never even knew this place was over here. A girlfriend of mine recently mentioned this place and it is near her home. The bartender was very pleasant and helpful, even introduced my BF to some new IPA. Looks like a place with regulars, what little hole in the wall isn't? I'm glad to say that I would certainly come back and experience the place again. Don't get back in that area much but when I do, I will come here and maybe try the food out this time. I love to see what is available as far as good food goes. You never know the places you'll find it!

I've only been here for dinner, so I may return to edit this review after trying the place again as I hear the happy hour is really excellent. Anyhow, my experience here was definitely a positive one. Nice waitress, fast and attentive service, good food, and conversation was easy with my friend because it wasn't incredibly loud or busy. Ambiance was divey and bathrooms were a little messy but serviceable.

Hey, it's a bar. Close to a friends house, which makes it the destination of choice when in the area. It's one of those bars that has peanut shells all over the ground. I actually find this sort of gross, especially if they get all wet from spillage or rain being tracked about. Foods ok. I had a burger and fries once and they were average. A group of friends ordered the gut busting Large Nachos and managed to finish it. If you do order this particular platter, make sure there are at least 4 in your party to share. I've only ordered a beer here once, and that's probably my last time. The order was taken at a table and then the waiter promptly forgot about it. It wasn't until about a half hour later when a friend asked "Hey, didn't you order a beer?" and I realized he was right. . .my beer was MIA. (Since I'm not a big drinker, I hadn't even noticed). My dear friend then went up to the bar and asked said waiter where my beer had gone. He was able to get my beer, but the waiter never showed with an apology for me. Oh well, since it's the spot all my friends love to play pool at, I will be back, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

Love love their breakfast menu There is an omelette that has bacon and hash browns in it. I now dream about this omelette. Service is ok, you feel as though the staff is over run between the family seating and the bar. The bathrooms are not ones that I will ever be seated in or take my child in again. They look like they haven't been cleaned or remodeled since the 60's with the yellow and brown linoleum... And the smell... Which makes me wonder if the employees that cook your food also use this bathroom???!!??

My husband and I have been going to McKenzie Pub for several years now since we moved into the area. We go back time and time again for breakfast and dinner. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is half-typical bar and half-woodsy hometown restaurant. I've seen the signs that say kids can eat there until 9:00 pm, which I think is a pretty cool feature. For breakfast we always order the country combo which runs around $7 and it comes with 2 eggs, a generous helping of your choice of a meat, hashbrowns or diced potatoes AND biscuits and gravy. I usually can't eat the whole plate, but it is good and well worth the price! There is nowhere else in town that I know of where you can get that much food for that kind of a price. Dinners I switch between the typical dinner choice (steak, etc.) and their sandwiches. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich is on the larger side and has just the right amount of sauce. My husband always orders the McKenzie steak with is a steak with grilled peppers and onions on top with a baked potato, salad and garlic bread. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We don't drink much, so I can't comment on the alcohol selection very well. Have had a margarita once in a while which was good. They also have a lot of TVs around the room and one of them usually has something interesting to watch - not always the sports or NASCAR. The only downsides are some nights when you are there and it is poker night or karaoke night and it gets a bit crowded. We always have good and prompt service, even on the busy nights.

I've lived in Sherwood about 5 years, I've never ventured into the McKenzie pub before this. Something about it struck me as not the kinda place I felt like visiting. It's a strip mall bar, which always seems a bit off to me. Well, after a very crappy time at the McMenamins in Sherwood the wife and I just wanted a quick, strong drink...it was between McKenzie Pub and Clancy's (another bar in Sherwood -- don't even suggest Capt. Ron's, I won't give my business to them for entirely different reasons). Anyway, having been to Clancy's before we figured we'd check out this place. Tell you what. If you like the typical bar experience, this place is for you. It's got music, pool tables, and the ubiquitous video poker machines. It was actually pretty hoppin' for a weeknight too. The drinks were fairly priced, the liquor flowed strong, and the bartender was nice and quick. We didn't sample the food so I'll have to save that for a later follow-up (my guess is that's it's standard bar fare). The best part of the whole thing? It's not Sherwood McMenamins.

Being denied at two places previous to the McKenzie Pub looking for Happy Hour selections; we settled on McKenzie. I was not terribly impressed with micro brews being on sale during HH for $3.75 and they only being 14oz. The HH menu was very stereotypical; fried cheese, nachos, potato skins, tater tots, and taquitos. Plus, of course, the typical peanut barrel welcoming shells to the floor. There was nothing special about McKenzie's Pub. The dining room was slightly unique, well at least I mean to say they put a lot of effort trying to make you feel like you were in a western town. That's what I always think of when I hear the name McKenzie; logs, shake roofs, saddles, horse shoes, and peanuts. Maybe they should have had a barrel of potatoes, roofs of peat, some shovels, and at least one hand wheel barrel with a wooden wheel; ah, that's me ol lad McKenzie's place. They were understaffed. I don't hold that against any place on a Monday night. I know the restaurant business very well and staff is the largest expense along with the need being the hardest to predict.

There are some of those times where people really rock. Coupled with the right atmosphere, your day doesn't get too much better. I took the opportunity to come into McKenzie Pub this evening, April 11th 2015. I had a long day at National Guard drill. I didn't have a lot at the house to make and didn't feel like cooking. I came into the pub to get a good, simple meal. Not only did I get that, I received good service from Crystal, who was very chipper, not overbearing, giving me good time to make my choice and to eat my meal. It turns out that the people in the booth behind me purchased my meal for me. Crystal informed me with a big smile on her face, I only wish I could have said thanks personally. The food was good, the service was better, the atmosphere is what you'd want and expect from a pub like this. Thank you Crystal and to the strangers who purchased my meal for me.

My co-worker and I decided to go have a cold beer after work. Our waitress was extremely rude! Our total came out to $18. I handed her a twenty, thanks her for her services and asked her to keep the change. She came back with the $2 and threw it on the the table. I guess it wasn't a big enough tip for her. She needs to find a better job if her wage is that bad! I wish I would of asked her name. Anyways she pissed us off.

First off, the food is OK so I would give it 3 stars normally. Unfortunately, I HATE being deceived and I DISLIKE too much for things. I was looking for a place to throw $40 into a video poker machine plus could get some decent bar food. I went to this place once before and had a burger and a soda (had to go back to work therefore no beer.... ugh!). I won a little money so I had the guy take my tab out for the $48 ticket and I did not notice the cost so much. Today I went after deciding what I wanted by looking at the menu from their website. After losing my $40, I went to pay my tab and found that the $7.50 small nacho is actually $9.50 & the soda was $2.50. The two dollar difference is quite a bit to be off from the price on the website. If you are going to raise prices ($2 is a lot to raise at one time) then you better be doing the same on your website. It's a lot easier to change that than make up a new menu, have it printed and put it in the plastic covers. Next. . . . $2.50 for a soda?? I don't mind paying for a soda but that is a lot. Besides, a good share of pubs/bars today give away soda free to those playing video lottery. I came here because JB O'brien's in King City has expensive food BUT you don't have to pay for the soda while you play. Now that I know the soda is so expensive here, I might as well pay more for the food and go back to O'brien's which is closer to my work. Sorry McKenzie Pub, you just priced yourself out of my price range and ruined my trust.

I tried to give this place a second chance. Once again very rude bartender. Terrible service with a horrible attitude to go with it. It's sad because if they replaced some of the employees it actually would be a decent place to hang out or have a couple cocktails. The staff ruins the whole place. I will not be back for a third time.

My wife and I went in to Mckenzie Pub earlier today for breakfast and there was a gal in there with brown hair and way too much make up that served us. The omelet that my wife ordered was supposed to have bacon in it yet it had none. I ordered the country potatoes and received hash browns instead. The waitress had a horrible attitude and would interrupt my wife when my wife was asking about a meal. I found myself not liking this person too much, and then at 4:00 this evening I got a phone call from the wells fargo fraud department saying that several transactions have been declined on my card and that my card was being used by someone else. I'm not saying that this was by their employee, but I don't like that woman that served us, and I definitely don't trust her. She looked kind of crazy. My wife and I won't be eating at that establishment again.

Hadn't been here in a couple years, but I'll definitely be back again sooner than that. Got the Philly Cheesesteak, I was pretty happy with the quality and the quantity. The beef had a good flavor and the bun was perfectly grilled. Service was ok, felt a little slow but nothing too terrible. I'd recommend!

Great happy hour prices! Well drinks are only $3,,,,, all the food is only $3 and you get a good size order. Not a lot of meat choices, but great prices on what they do offer. There are 5 in the order of wings and 6 in the taquitos, the order of tator tots was a really good size basket. And all for only $3 each. If you're looking for a good choice of fried food and good, inexpensive drinks.... This is the happy hour for you! Service was quick and friendly. Seemed like a nice place to be.

It seems like this is the second choice for a lot of people in this area. It was our second choice too. I mean c'mon, who is going to seek out a pub in a strip mall? Well we didn't seek it out, but will probably do so in a future and you should too. Their menu was pretty big for a pub with lots of variations on salads, burgers and sandwiches, they even do pasta and some steak. The breakfast menu looks appealing and they serve breakfast until 1 on weekends. We split the bbq pork sandwich with a side of potato salad. I was a little nervous when bf ordered it as I thought it was going to be a nasty glop of Reser's, but it was actually home made and pretty delicious. I also loved the bbq sauce and I'm guessing (hoping) that was their own recipe too. And did I mention we split this? We didn't leave hungry either! Our sandwich and two of the beers on special came to $11. And then there's the beer. They offer a lot of specials, but it doesn't seem to be on the good stuff. I'd add them to my beer list, but their biggest local offerings were Deschutes, Widmer and Ninkasi, all solid choices and I'm happy with that, but would probably seek them out more if there was a bit more local flavor. The vibe was relaxed and there were plenty of tvs to view the games. Our server was friendly and quick and she took good care of our large group. So that's what I get for judging a place in a strip mall before trying it. A delicious meal, some decent beer and great service. Well played strip mall pub. Well played.....

Best I have found in the LO, Tualatin, Sherwood, Oregon City, Portland area. I have eaten at many places in the last 13 years here in PDX. They are the best for burgers, prime rib on wed and thurs. My absolute fav is the Philly Steak Cheese on Friday afternoons!!
