I don't love Chinese food. I find it greasy. BUT, it was family night out, and the kids and hubby picked this place. I came along for the ride, thinking I wouldn't eat much. I was pleasantly surprised. The Mandarin Pork was very good. Breaded fried crispy pork pieces that were juicy inside and covered in a sweet thick sauce. I especially enjoyed dipping each piece of crispy pork in the hot mustard sauce. The sweet and sour chicken was especially good (again, crispy fried strips of chicken in a lovely sauce). The cream cheese crab wontons and wrapped fried shrimp were yummy dipped in the same sweet and sour sauce. OK, so I ate too much greasy food, but it was actually really yummy so I am giving this place four stars if you love chinese food. Still not my favorite type of food, but really good for Chinese food.

Yum! I have been going to this joint for six years now. It's the best in Newberg for this type of food.

Man, it had been a long time since I've eaten this good old type of chinese food. I grew up going to places just like this, and Lucky Fortune did not disappoint. Immediately they brought out the silver tea pot, they have great lunch deals, and food is fast, hot, and delicious. BUT, I ate less than half my meal and my stomach hurt so bad after! No food poisoning or anything like that, I think it was just too long since Ive eaten that much grease!!! You know what youre getting when you walk into a chinese food/ video poker spot, and its sooo good. Just make sure your stomach can handle it.

The fried stuff is pretty good. The hot and sour soup is kind of gross tasting- I swear it had ground beef in it, but the waitress was very sure there was no beef, so not sure what the mystery meat was! The bathrooms are GROSS. I hate it when a restaurant has nasty bathrooms- it is really an indication of how the place is run. I don't really recomment it, but if you just want your general tsos fix then it should be fine.

If you're a typical American who wants giant portions and massive flavor, then this is the place for you. Prepare your taste buds to meet more flavor than you thought they could handle.

This place is GREAT! Its food is a 4/5, not as good as the Joy Kitchen in Canby, but its good food, for little money. The waitresses don't waste your time with idle chit chat, my water / tea is NEVER empty and the PooPoo Platter is a spectacle! I have NEVER left here unsatisfied.

if I could give this place a ZERO I would. I took the wife and kid here. The wife's burger had a F'ing COCKROACH on it. Never again, I don't care how good the soup is.

I've ordered one of their combo meals a million times - ordered it last week and the portions weren't correct. Although, the price remained the same? So, I went in the next time I had a chance and talked to Wilson the OWNER - his response to me was I haven't had a complaint in 15 years and if you don't like it then go down the street. He stated this to me in front of 4 or 5 regulars in the bar. I tried to explain to him it wasn't the taste, it was just incorrect portions and he wanted nothing to do with hearing my legit complaint. I know one of the bartenders and went in the next day to say hi - I was told I'm not welcome in there anymore and I can go down the street. The owner DOES NOT care if you enjoy the food or hate it either way. That place needs to be shutdown for the worst customer service I've ever had. I've been there, and been in the bar, quite a few times and I was still treated that way. So, new or old customers - WILSON does not care and clearly doesn't need anyone's return business in his eyes. I would suggest going anywhere but there - with that attitude towards the people who fill your pocket - he doesn't deserve anyone's money.

Definitely your grandparent's Chinese restaurant. Good portions of heavy Americanized Chinese food. Bright red thickened sweet and sour sauce, oily fried shrimp, copious amounts of rice. Prices are reasonable and service is quick.

We were passing through town and stopped here for lunch. Prices were good and the service was great. Our waitress was very friendly. Two of us had lunch for $7 and change. The portions were huge. I brought some of mine home. The fried rice has lots of flavor. The sweet and sour pork is delicious. Soup and tea came with our meal. Fortune cookie too. We were pleasantly surprised and we will certainly eat here again!

This place was great! My husband and I were heading home from the coast and wanted something inexpensive and quick, but not fast food. The restaurant was clean and our server was very attentive. We both had combo plates and made substitutions with no problem. We both really like the egg flower soup and thought that the BBQ pork tasted like in was made in house (like char sui, not like typical pre-packaged BBQ pork). All in all it was a great experience.I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some quick, inexpensive, Americanized Chinese food.

This was my second time there for dinner and every dish was a little off, not bad, just a little 'not right'. The Kung Pao Chicken was a little bland and had almost a bitter aftertaste. The Luck Fortune Special Chow Mein was full of great tasting veggies and proteins, but the chow mein noodles were wet and starchy to the point where no flavor was sticking or picked up by them. The hot and sour soup had good flavor, great flavor with good ingredients in it, but it was served just above warm and not hot. The prices were inexpensive, but the food was just OK. Service was attentive and pleasant. They wrapped our leftovers for us, unfortunately they went to the bin after the wife and I discussed not having them as leftovers.

Best Chinese food! I've tried many places and none compare to lucky fortune! Good prices and portions as well

Meh. Basic Chinese food. I will say, however, that the portions were HUGE. Very Americanized food. The daily special I had was General Tso's chicken with an egg flower soup (option is that or wonton), an egg roll, crab puffs (with hardly any crab, mostly cream cheese), and steamed rice (option of steamed or fried). I was the only one in the restaurant, and my food came out in about 6 minutes, which makes me think they just had it under a heat lamp. The egg flower soup was the bomb, Egg roll was really good, crab puffs were okay, and the rice was just a tad dry. The chicken was an overall 6/10. Good, but didn't astound me. I think my mom makes better general Tso's haha. But all that for $6.95 made me a happy camper. There was definitely a bit left over for lunch the next day. Overall, I'd say give this place a try if you're looking for a cheap, quick lunch.

I'm picky when it comes to Chinese food. I live in Seattle which has a lot of places to go and I only like one and it's a ways from our home haha. We're visiting relatives in Newberg and decide to pick up dinner for everyone. The restaurant was just plain. No atmosphere. Playing Christmas music a week before Thanksgiving. So I judged a book by its cover. When we got home I was suprise how better than average it tasted. Pork fried rice was a little bland but passable. The General Tao's wasn't chewy and had a good sauce. The Magolian Beef had a good amount of veggies, not over kill. Overall if I lived here I would go again. But it doesn't even come close to our favorite place back home.

The portions are huge, the eats are average and the food is cheap, it is everything you might expect a small town Chinese restaurant to be. There is a bar on site that I have never been in.

Consistently good food! The beef is crazy tender. Melts in your mouth. I love the fried rice and orange chicken. My husband and daughter loves the generals chicken and beef. They say its thr best they have had.Service is not always super friendly but it is always fast. We usually call our order in wait 5 minutes and by the time we get there it is ready.

Man, I don't know what everyone's freaking out about. I freaking loved Lucky Fortune when I was a kid. I always used to go with my grandparents and get orange chicken and egg flour soup. They have the best egg flour soup IN THE WORLD. Since becoming vegan, there's not much for me to eat there, so I don't go often, but I've always loved it. It's probably the least sketchy Chinese restaurant I've ever been in, the tea is bottomless, I've NEVER had a waitress act rudely in the slightest, and the food is extremely inexpensive. And DELICIOUS. They even have an American Food portion of the menu for little picky eaters. :) Don't listen to the reviews below. Lucky Fortune is FANTASTIC. Although, I miss when it was the horrid blue color. Also, if you walk in off the street and ask for fortune cookies, they'll totally give them to you.

I went back today and I swear I am never going back. Their lunch special was between an almond or lemon chicken, neither of which I've had before. I asked the waitress what she recommended and she snapped, "you're the one eating not me" but later suggested the lemon chicken. The dish came out and it was a yellow syrup consistency that covered the entire fried pieces of chicken. Not only did it look like some type of bad buffet dessert, but it also tasted like one. I've never had any chicken dish so sweet before. I told the waitress the food was too sweet and asked to change it to something else. She rejected my request since the food had already been made. I told her I couldn't finish my dish, but she said that wasn't her problem since I ordered an American dish. Wait, Lucky Fortune Chinese Restaurant does not serve Chinese food? Albeit, they have an American section of their menu where they serve obvious American food like burgers, but how am I supposed to know their lemon chicken, which is not in the American section of the menu, is not Chinese? I was so angry I lost my appetite. She came back 10 minutes later and said the boss will give me a different American chicken dish, but it was too late for that. She should have suggested so in the beginning. I told her I am never returning to the restaurant and she laughed it off while saying "okay then, don't come back," and told her co-workers about this "hilarious" situation. I guess Lucky Fortune does not rely on their customers. Perhaps they have their own lucky fortune where their livelihood does not depend on returning customers to support their business. Whatever the case may be, they lost me as a customer, and that's too bad since I always overeat. My life goal from now is to stop anyone from eating impostor Chinese food. If you are in the Newberg area, I suggest you head on over to Sherwood and eat at House of Good Fortune instead. Their food, sizzling rice soup and salt and pepper prawns, and their service is better than anything Lucky Fortune can manage.

I hadn't been to Lucky Fortune for a while and I went back for lunch a couple of weekends ago. Most of the lunch specials include fried food which I would like to avoid, so I did eventually find a good dish with chicken and vegetables. The food has always been satisfactory at Lucky Fortune. Service is a completely different story. In all my trips to Lucky Fortune, I have never had a really friendly or helpful waitress. They always seem curt and serious and don't go out of their way to offer anything but basic service. During this last trip, there were quite a few other people in the restaurant so we didn't necessarily expect prompt service. We did order quickly, but it took almost 30 minutes to get our food. We've never had to wait that long! During that entire wait, our waitress never stopped by to check on us, give us more water, etc. I can imagine going back once in a while just because there aren't many Chinese food options near my house but beware that the service is nothing to brag about.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
