Service was nice when we say her most of the time she was on her cell phone at a table on the other side of the room most the time we were there. While we waited for our food a take out order came back because the had given her the wrong food. There was 3 of us we had the deep fried flour tortilla with melted cheese it was awesome !! The hamburger was good the fries could have been really good but they over cooked them!! Taco was ok. The enchilada was not to my taste just different to what I'm us too in Orange County . Chip and salas were basic . The soda u get one glass no refills!!! I gave it 3 stars for the deep fried tortilla and melted cheese. I always drink water when I go out. First time I have ever left a lunch thirsty !! She never remembered the water !!

Sat for 10 minutes ready to order in an empty dining area before she took order. Food did not all cone out at the same time, husbands food came out nearly 15 minutes AFTER the rest of ours. My chicken flautas were burnt and the rice was undercooked. Youngest son dropped his straw, asked for a new one, it never came. Chips were stale. The best part of the meal were the beans which were a little runny. Charged way too much for not well cooked food and poor service. Will not return.

The food is just so so, what they serve here isn't what these owners cook at home, me and my wife speak Spanish, we could hear the owner cussing up a storm in the back, that's one foul mouthed mofo to say the least, they do rag on the Caucasians behind their backs I've noticed, not a kind place to be patronizing, I'm out a here!!

hey, i believe la flor is every bit as good if not better than panchos. we stopped in a couple days ago for dinner. i had the deluxe chicken tostada and asked for added beans, which is what i normally get anywhere. this tostada was actually more tasty that what i've had at panchos. hubby's 2 ground beef tacos and ground beef enchi were delicious, as well. service and attention were terrific. i'm sold and we are fans of la flor!

Very good Mexican food, beans from scratch and homemade tortillas. The fresh made salsa for the chips is a very nice touch.

While I do not speak very fluently, I understand spanish, so to hear them assume that a gringo cannot understand them while they talk badly about you is more than unfortunate. Funny thing, they are nice to you at your table so you have no clue unless you do overhear and understand them. Food for thought to those of you eat here. I prefer Pancho's over La Flor as far as the food goes as well.

service was just ok the authentic way they made the carnitas was questionable...questionable as it tasted like the Tyson chicken strips (if they were pork) in sauce and dehydrated ..not good at all never had that special authentic way of carnitas...the waitress seemed bothered by me asking for spicier salsa and brought me out some vinegar filled tomato sauce yuck..his food wasn't good either we probably wont try again

Don't stop in the women owner is very rude. We where in our 26' motor home and she did not like me parking in her lot. We saw only two other cars in her lot and no one inside except the rude owner Go north up the street to Poncho's Good food and service See my review for Poncho's Thank you

We loved this place. Decor is very charming. Chicken burrito was excellent. The chicken was flavorful and tender. The salad garnish had a light seasoning that complemented the burrito. Loved the free dessert. The perfect combination of sweet and crunchy with light taste of berries

I am new to the area, ate here four times. Food is good and so is service. Tooo much chatter from the help when it is busy and when it is not. Panchos's is twice as good.

I love this place. I come here every time I'm in brookings! The food is fresh and delicious. It can take a little while for your food to come but hey, it's not fast food! If you want that, go to Taco Bell!!! The corn tortillas are homemade and wonderful too!!!

We made a trip from Portland to visit the redwood forest in southern Oregon and northern California. We had been hiking at Alfred A. Loeb State Park earlier in the day, and we were craving some Mexican food. We headed into Brookings and stumbled upon La Flor De Mexico right off of 101. We were immediately impressed by the chips and salsa, both of which were incredibly fresh and tasty. I got the enchiladas verde, which were delicious. The prices are a bit high, but you get decent portions, and the food was delicious. When you finish your meal, they bring you little sopapillas with whipped cream and strawberry sauce for free. Additionally, our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. I would definitely go to this restaurant again if we find ourselves in Brookings in the future!

We always try to hit this place when we are on the coast. The food is good, the prices are very reasonable and the lady who owns it always makes us feel welcome. Their homemade tortillas are a favorite.

The food was about what I expected, but the portions were a bit small for the price. The service was OK. However, what made me give 3 instead of 2 was the little dessert they gave as the "after dinner mint": it was very good!

Overpriced Taco Bell style food. Started with the magaritas arriving in cheesy plastic cactus shaped glasses. I swear they were virgin margaritas, the highlight was the salsa, that should say it all.

My boyfriend and I eat here often, It's our favorite Mexican restaurant. We almost always get the Carne Asada . They offer vegetarian meals, the vegetarian burritos are delicious good margaritas! Great atmosphere! Cute entryway with fountain full of coins! Friendly service, fair price!

I was very disappointed. It was a Friday night and I was told they had really good food... I love Mexican food and well here in Marin we do have some really good joints to go to.... The parking lot was full which was a good sign since the economy in Brookings has really hit some of the merchants very hard. The service was nice and friendly and the food was hot when it arrived. I must admit I am a chili relleno's snob.... My ex mother law is from Mexico and she makes the best I ever tasted. Normally they are dipped in flour, and egg batter... These were just dipped in egg.. .Yuck..... or maybe not yuck if you like yours prepared that way... somebody must otherwise I don't think they would make em. The rice and beans had no flavor or at least not the spark that I got from the place located up the street. On a plus side they have a full bar... extensive menu and at lunch time they do have a lunch buffet for $8.95 which I was told was good. Brookings must have at least 4 or 5 Mexican restaurants.... try one of the others if you happen to find yourself driving through or staying the day in Brookings.

Great place for lunch or dinner. The lunch is buffet or menu. The food is fresh and there is a full bar. The dinning area has a view of the ocean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Step in and feel like you are on a vacation in Mexico..without the trip. Enjoy the salsa and chips! The burritos and vegetarian choices are great. Have fun. Right off the 101. Good parking, even more in the back.

Got the taco al carbon, rice and beans. The tortillas were home made and good. The cari asada wasn't very flavorful and the beans weren't very food either. Also got the avocado tostada and that was very bad, 1 star. It was pretty expensive for what you get. Theres better Mexican food places in Brookings.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
