We stayed in the rear "slave quarters" of the house, and it was such a lovely stay. All details were attended to-- from ice prepped in the fridge, to the air turned down, and chocolates. And did I mention full-sized coffee pot? Staff was helpful and kind; and the tour of the house was informative and brief. The house is centrally located to downtown Vicksburg and its historic districts. Also, don't forget your swimsuits-- the pool is as drool-worthy as the brunch!

I have had three meals in this restaurant, two breakfasts with my stay, and a dinner my first night in Vicksburg. The breakfasts both days included cheesy grits, fruit, orange juice and coffee or tea. The first day's entree was a small bacon and egg biscuit with an extra slice of bacon, while the second day we had a breakfast casserole with a small biscuit on the side. The cheesy grits were new to this Oregon boy, and I came away a believer. For dinner, I splurged, having their "Surf and Turf": gulf shrimp and glazed beef filet medallions. It was delicious. I heartily recommend.Cafe Anchuca to anyone eating out in Vicksburg.

Sunday Brunch here was a real treat. It's in a lovely historic antebellum home and the setting could not have been more perfect. We were seated immediately even though they were pretty busy. I ordered Filet mignon Eggs Benedict* which came with a side of cheese grits and fresh fruit. This dish was divine. Just cooked to perfection and oh so delicious. Even though I was pretty stuffed, I decided to make a pig out of myself and had dessert. The trifle was delightful as well. I'd opt for the white chocolate bread pudding next time. In fact...anyone up for a road trip? Cafe Anchuca is a great choice for Sunday brunch. You'll be happy if you decide to go. *Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict-soft buttery biscuits with grilled onions topped with tender filet Mignon medallions topped with two poached eggs. Ok? Yummy, yummy, yummy.

Like many of the other reviews say, go here. This is a small quaint place. The food is so full of flavor, well conducted and rich. We headed in for brunch. It is a small menu but still very appealing. We ordered quiche Loraine and shrimp with grits, all delicious. The coffee is great, made with cinnamon. The service was very professional. Thanks David! My only concern was after the first cup of awesome coffee, the second didn't taste anything like the first, watered down and no cinnamon. I would highly recommend! Don't wear jeans or flip flops.

We came to Vicksburg to visit for a long weekend and I was blown away when we arrived at Anchuca, the photos online do not do the home justice.the staff was very accommodating and helpful and the grounds are beautiful! We will most certainly be back!

The building is historical and very lovely. The food was great. I had mushroom ravioli it was only 2nd to my wife's home made. My family had surf and turf and curry chicken salad and they loved it. The pecan pie was good but for me to little filling and to much grenache.

Mom and I stayed the night at the Anchuca and were absolutely delighted by the breakfast. We were served a ham and asparagus egg tart, a beautifully fluffy biscuit, a cup of seasonal fruit, and the best damn cheese grits I've EVER had. If for nothing else, come to try their cheese grits. They are phenomenal. I have no desire to know how much butter, cheese, and other fatty ingredients may be in them... I just want to eat them every day. It was a lovely breakfast with a little bit for people with all varieties of taste. This is unreasonably picky, but I'd love if Cafe Anchuca began carrying raw sugar (i.e., turbinado sugar) for coffee and tea. It's less processed and has such a rich flavor. And yes, the coffee was good.

Best dining experience I've had in years, literally the best in Vicksburg. Absolutely the best gumbo and many other dishes..yum!! Wait staff is wonderful as well.

We had the best experience here. Fortunately, the restaurant that was recommended to us was overly crowded, so we looked this one up on Yelp. They welcomed us warmly, we ordered pork tenderloin and shrimp and grits. I think the tenderloin. Was the winner that night. After we were served our wine, the hostess asked if we'd like to tour the house. We grabbed our glasses and off we went to view this lovely historic mansion. If we are ever in Vicksburg, we will stay here!

We just enjoyed the Sunday Brunch which had the most perfect combinations at very reasonable prices. For around $16, I had gumbo with cheese grits, biscuits with piminto cheese, salad, white chocolate bread pudding and coffee. The biscuits were light and not greasy at all. Portions were perfectly sized. The other selections chosen by others at our table were equally interesting and well-balanced. Kudos to Anchuca. I never miss coming here when I am in town and will try the other brunch items next time.

Excellent staff, very friendly. They had two large groups coming in this night and had only a limited prefix menu but accommodated us with some regular menu items. Started with the comeback shrimp - excellent taste overall but was overcooked (which made It rubbery). I had the filet and shrimp(didn't know it was comeback again). The filet was delish but was not warm- great topping was the sautéed onion which took the steak over the top. Potatoes were really good. Wife had the catfish which was very good also but too much rosemary flavor. Overall good, not great but will cut them some slack because they were accommodating two large groups.

Nice little gem near downtown Vicksburg. Very romantic atmosphere. I had the ravioli. It was a little under-seasoned and quite a lot of different flavors and ingredients going on in the dish (too many?), and quite heavy. It was good but not great. Doubt I would order it again. Service was very good it was a slow night. 5 stars on the atmosphere and service, 3 stars in the food. There you go.

Very nice historic (1830) inn. We lodged for 3 nights in the Carriage House (#6). The room was confortable - good bed, seating for two and a nice dressing room area with fridge and coffee maker. The room had a musty/mildew smell. It needed a good airing out. The staff were very pleasant. THere is a swimming pool for your use. Hot breakfast is included in the stay. My biggest disappointment was that it was the same plate of food each morning of our stay. Scrambled eggs, one slice of bacon, cheese grits, miniscule biscuit and fruit cup with juice & coffee. It tasted fine, just got BORING. Would I stay here again? No, because I am too much of a Foodie and half of a B&B for me is breakfast!

There really isn't another restaurant in a 100 miles radius that compares with Anchuka - even if it was sitting in the middle Jackson, it would still beat most restaurants for creative cuisine, romance and fantastic service.

Cafe Anchuca, part of the bed and breakfast by the same name is only open Thursday-Sunday to the general public but offers some of the finest cuisine in the Vicksburg area. Your two excellent hosts Tom and Chris, along with their wonderful staff, will make you feel at home in their glass-pane enclosed and brick-floor cafe. The menu features a fairly standard set of appetizers and main courses with a focus on southern cuisine, but the preparation is excellent. Cafe Anchuca is a wonderful example of the fine quality one may find behind a relatively nondescript explanation here in the south. Of note, the Cafe' Fillet ranks among the top steaks I have tasted - and can easily be cut with a butter knife I might add. I'd also suggest the Vick Burger, Asparagus Bisque, and Seafood Gumbo - just be sure you have a side of cheese grits served with your meal. But save room. Cafe Anchuca's desert menu is on par with the main courses. Enjoy the Anchuca Bonzo Cake, the Cafe' Cheesecake, and be sure to ask for the weekly specials - with a side of their excellent coffee. For those visiting Vicksburg for the Battlefield or on business, Cafe Anchuca is a must... a culinary experience set in the heart of the historic Springfield neighborhood.

We Stayed three nights at this wonderful B&B which included a great breakfast. Lisa was a great hostess! The first morning was homemade fritatta, cheese grits, biscuit, and fruit salad. Morning two was egg/cilantro/cheese scramble, bacon, biscuit, fruit and (of course) cheese grits! Our final morning was fluffy pancakes, bacon, fruit, and those wonderful cheese grits!! The hospitality was great, we were so glad we chose to stay at the Anchuca and will definitely be back!

Lovely!! DELICIOUS food, every time. Been here 10+ times for brunch with family and it is consistently amazing. Asparagus bisque = must try. Atmosphere is charming, and service is top-notch. Here, you will get a "Vicksburg experience," or just a nice break from reality. Tour the house and grounds and you'll find historical architecture, artwork, and a pool/patio area that is amazing.

What a sweet beautiful place. Even as a young couple, we were able to appreciate the history and beauty of this wonderful house. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Their southern hospitality shined through every kind smile. We enjoyed our 24 hour stay in the small town as well. There was plenty to do. We visited antique shops, museums, casinos, and hole in the wall restaurants. Everyone we encountered was so helpful and eager for us to enjoy their hometown. We ended our trip with a delicious breakfast at Anchuca after a great nights rest in their cozy room. A perfect way to end our small trip. Thank you to all the helpful and friendly staff at the Anchuca. We appreciated your hospitality and we WILL be back!

We stumbled upon this place for lunch and we ended up staying (it's also a B&B). Lunch was fabulous we had the chicken salad sandwich and asparagus bisque and potato salad. The chicken salad was very fresh, it had raisins and very well cooked chicken. It was moist and slightly sweet. The potato salad was excellent. The potatoes were done to perfection not overcooked and not too crunchy. The salad was well seasoned and very enjoyable. The asparagus soup was very rich and satisfying. The dessert we had was Bonzo Cake. It is a gluten free chocolate cake with a layer of cream cheese/mascarpone and then chocolate mousse on top with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and caramel sauce and whipped cream. The cake was absolutely divine and very rich. The service was excellent. Everyone we met was very gracious. We will come back as often as possible.

Fantastic food and service. Order the catfish bites and the creole platter. Shrimp are fresh and can be prepared any way you want them. If avaIlable, order the asparagus bisque.

We went here because it gets very good reviews on yelp and tripadvisor and we weren't disappointed at all. It's a small restaurant in a historic building so it has really nice atmosphere. But, the best treat was the food and the service. Not only was the food outstanding but the quantity was more than adequate.

This cafe has style, a great atmosphere, a classy feel, wonderful service, and fantastic food. The menu is limited, but it is by design. They do a handful of things extremely well. The asparagus soup is the best I have ever eaten. The bongo cake was sinfully good. Save room for dessert!

Asparagus bisque was divine, but my husband's hamburger was the worst burger he has ever had
