I feel like reviewing places here is like shooting fish in a barrel, because during my 18 hour layover here (en route back to TX from FL) I did not once have a positive experience anywhere I stopped. I even tried a couple local places for dinner and wine, and nope. Everyone is like the walking dead (as my friend said) and has no interest in making eye contact with you or serving you. But I digress. -The hot chocolate needed more powder because it was basically hot chocolate flavored water -our food was dropped off and mine and my friend's dishes came with biscuits, our waitress said she would be back with some bread and disappeared for like 15 minutes -i ordered salmon patties which comes with their "new lemon chive tartar sauce" except I had no tartar sauce...ok no big deal I figured I would ask her when she came back with the biscuits...hahaha see the 15 minute disappearing act above -we asked another waitress clearing a table to have ours come over, so she disappeared over to the back (we could see where there were 3 waitresses including ours just standing around by where the food came out) and our waitress just disappeared into the back after the other lady talked to her, then finally emerged to inform us that the biscuits had been burned so she was waiting for new ones. ok but a GOOD waitress would come over to our table and let us know. "sorry for the delay but the biscuits were burned, they should be ready in a few minutes" that isn't that hard!! But a disappearing act is much less work -I asked for the tartar sauce that came with my meal and she acted like I asked for the friggen moon. "oh, you want tartar sauce?" all incredulous-like, as if no one eats fish with tartar sauce. IT SAYS IT COMES WITH IT IN THE MENU!!! WTF?? I don't think asking for a menu item is out of line. She brought it with the biscuits and it was the regular tartar sauce but at that point I was happy to just have something. -my friend's coffee was refilled....maybe once. none of us got drink refills except for when the biscuits were dropped off as for the store, I am not a fan of the kitschy ridiculous crap but I do like the nostalgic candy that they have. The maple candy is really good and I recently discovered how delicious valomilk bars are. I would have to imagine you can get that stuff online and not have to go into a cracker barrel though. holy moly.....if I never come back it'll be too soon.

Cracker Barrel is good ole Southern food that taste like mama's cooking! I really enjoy the nostalgic feelings of Southern Living I get when visiting this restaurant. All the servers are very nice and welcoming. The food is great! I have gone for breakfast (Mama's Pancake platter is a must try) and lunch (Catfish Platter is banging)! I would suggest trying the hashbrown casserole as a side, dumplings, and buttered broccoli which takes away any signs of healthiness! But that's okay...I go there for good eats, I can eat healthy elsewhere. :) I think this is only seasonal, but the chocolate pecan pie is AMAZING! The only thing I can complain about is the coffee. It is quite weak and bland...but again I go there for good eats not coffee...but if they also had good coffee...I would be an addict!

Super friendly staff and tried the grilled catfish the spice was amazing. I would recommend for late dining as the place closes later than most other stores.

Service was good. Wasn't a fan of the food. Biscuits were almost raw in the middle. HashBrowns were raw and looked like they spent about 1 min on the griddle (I did ask for them crispy). Ordered eggs over med/well came out over easy. Ham was great smoked sausage was a little dry. Weird bread selection for the French toast. I think it was sourdough. Regular bread would have been better in my opinion.

The only reason I don't give this place FIVE stars, was the server we had... Forgot our sides, forgot our child's sides, and brought our biscuits until three out of five people were done eating... Not to mention, the server looked(and acted like) crazy eyes off Orange is the New Black.. You would assume someone would take pride in their appearance-maybe try and look like you didn't just roll out of bed(in your work clothes)

Average food and most of the time the service isn't very good. We go to get veggies or chicken & dumplings which are really just ok?

Sweet server. Food at this Cracker Barrel really needs to improve. I have to say this is one of the worst plates I've had at a CB. my meat looked like they split it with another plate. Carrots were so mushy. Ughhhhh

Wonderful food and service from Dedre!!! Our food came out hot and at the same time (which never happens back home)! She was very vigilant about making sure our son, who has food allergies, was taken care of! I will definitely stop here again on our next trip through!

Vegetable plate--Be careful my vegetarian friends b/c some have meat grease used in cooking. Just ask :) Reminds me of good ole down home southern cooking. For a large chain restaurant Cracker Barrel is consistent! And still one of my fave breakfast stops.

We rolled into Vicksburg on a Sunday night on our two week road trip to Texas and across the South. Our plan was to tour Vicksburg Military Park the following morning. Not a fan of chain restaurants, we had few other options, since all the locally-owned eateries downtown were closed. After being on the road since 8:00 in the morning, we were eager to have a hot meal and having seen the ubiquitous Cracker Barrel billboards from Pennsylvania, south, we thought we'd see what the hype was all about. The restaurant was like 500 yards from our hotel, which made it convenient. I now wish we hadn't taken the Cracker Barrel plunge. We waited in line behind a sea of rather large folks, many that seemed to be having some difficulty deciding where to sit. We perused the gift shop/country store while we waited. Personally, I don't get what most Americans see in a bunch of junk and knick-knacks manufactured in China, and some other country that's subsumed America's former factory jobs that paid a living wage, but that's just me. We finally were called and seated, after waiting about 20 minutes. The waitress brought us some sweet tea, which was one of a host of Southern items I'd wanted to sample on our trip. It was ok, a bit overly sweet, but maybe that's what sweet tea is supposed to be like. I had the Chicken n' Dumplings Platter. The entire dish arrived lukewarm at best, the dumplings disappointingly tasteless, and soggy. The sides, which in my case were the macoroni and cheese, fried okra, and turnip greens were all overcooked and limp. My wife had the fried chicken (I think), and her experience wasn't much better than mine. Another annoyance was that when our food arrived, we had no silverware on the table to use to eat our rapidly cooling dishes. I looked around and the other patrons were using forks and knives, so I assumed that etiquette still prevailed at this chain eatery. No waitress was nearby, so I took off for the serving station and located two sets for my wife and me. In hindsight, we both agreed it would have been better off grabbing a bite at a fast-food chicken joint, or even McD's. The remainder of our trip, I took to calling Cracker Barrel, "A crack in my ass." I know it's crude, but good lord, this place was just plain awful!!

Fried eggs, grilled catfish, grits, biscuits, jam, and coffee. A power breakfast that doesn't play west of Denver. Minus 1 star for the weird trailer-park-grandma/truckstop giftshop separating me from my table. The rocking chairs do come in handy if there's a wait.

Good food, great portions and prices, and interesting atmosphere. It's the place to go in the Vicksburg area for a consistently decent meal at a reasonable price..

"So we loaded up that piece of shit and we moved to Beverly.......Hills that is" The term "down home" according to the dictionary is " simple, wholesome, unpretentious." A long road trip to Mississippi ended here at the Cracker Barrel. Most of my family caravaned to my father's funeral to Vicksburg, MS. After a taxing two days we all took 3 adjoined tables to break bread. Our server BJ was extremely friendly and talkative with a thick southern accent. He sensed we were from out of town and we had been equally intrigued by the hospitality of this town so far. He took his sweet time taking our orders away, asking us questions and engaging in an abundance of small talk. We all grew up on southern cooking and we all agreed to order deep as to try it all. The breaded catfish pieces were a little too big for my liking, messing up the balance(breading/fish ratio) a bit. I had the meatloaf platter which the dinner came with 3 monster sides. I chose fried okra, greens and mac & cheese. The okra fried crisp to perfection. Nice crunch. Their country fried steak was scrumptous and their country gravy is smooth as silk and good on everything. One thing about their greens is they rightfully cook them up with little bits of ham which always makes greens a bit better. The Cracker Barrel is real deal southern style with some obvious soul-food crossover. I've tried the west-coast attempts to capture this style only to have them fall short. This IS the food I grew up on and remembered so fondly. Although, grim to review a meal centered around the death of a family member, it truly was magic reminiscing of the good ole days. The warmth and cordiality of this town was incredible and left us with a fond closing memory of our father.

Cracker Barrel... tried and true southern fixin' available across the nation's interstate system. While I won't in an way bash the food available at this wonderful franchise restaurant, I cannot in good conscience rate it above average in terms of the cuisine available in Vicksburg / Warren County. Check out Cafe Anchuca, Main Street Market, or Roca's if you're looking for something beyond the excellent comfort food we all know and love at Cracker Barrel.

Let me define what I mean by a " true Southerner"...a person born in, and consistently living in, a state below the Mason-Dixon line that touches the ocean. That being said,...Cracker Barrel serves food that is southern for even us. For the non-southerner, down home cooking is probably gonna be unappreciated. Unless of course you've had a lot of dental problems and would rather not have to chew any of your food. It's pretty much in a pre-chewed state. The firmest thing on my plate was the mashed potatoes...honest to goodness...I'm not making this up....my heavy fork stood straight up when I stuck it in the pile of taters and gravy. The waitress was nice as pie and she was very patient with us. The sweet tea was SWEET and the gift shop is fun.
