Sykes & Six BBQ

204 Hwy 12 E
Starkville, 39759
Reviews:
I have tried every BBQ place in Starkville more than once, and this is the only place I go back for. I've heard great things about the Little Dooey and Petty's but none of them compare. Sykes's service is so great and friendly. On two occasions, I didn't know what a menu item was exactly or what it tasted like (livers and rib tips), and both times, they gave me a sample to try. I don't usually eat livers but these were melt in your mouth and so flavorful. I crave them a lot because they are very unexpected. Usually, you'd think they'd be iron-y, but they were not. The rib tips are sizzling and juicy. A good bit of it is fat, so it keeps the rib tips moist and not dried out. I've also ordered their pulled pork and it is very good. Paired with cole slaw and white bread, you can make amazing sandwiches for days if you order a 1/2 pound or pound of it. I highly recommend giving this little trailer a try. It's building is very deceiving. It's a little red trailer right next to Classic Clippers, in between, Sonic and Petty's.

Shipley Do-nuts

Reviews:
Best donuts in town. I would go early on the weekends to get a treat maybe every few months. But this place is ALWAYS packed with locals looking for a sweet Dozen treat on any day. Try their Maple donuts! Mm!
Warm glazed donuts fresh off the rack? Are you serious? Those and a chocolate milk will treat you right.
Amazing donuts. First, I commend them on having maple iced, and second, if you like blueberry cake donuts theirs are by far the best I have ever had. Its probably good that Atlanta has no Shipley's or else I would be eating blueberry donuts constantly.

Thai Siam

Reviews:
The food is amazing. The ambiance leaves plenty to be desired, but I'm so happy to have such a quality Thai restaurant in Starkville I can't even deduct a star for that. Wait staff is friendly and when I get it to go it's always ready fast and so good it's hard to wait to get home and eat it. My boyfriend and I just left and he's already digging into the fried dumplings, saying he would make love to these things. The duck curry is *awesome* and my personal fave. Don't forget to order a Thai iced tea with anything - it's all so good.
As an alumni and a sales rep, I've spent 20 years running the roads of Starkville and wow...this place is consistently amazing. Even if you aren't hardcore Thai, the beef salad and spring rolls are worth the trip alone. The service, spot on. Swift and with a Southern charm. Loved it yet again!
They serve both Thai and Sushi Very kind host and waitress, other place could learn from this please Great Food and a reasonable price kind people and a good energy

AMAZING! I believe that is all I need to say about this place.... This place is yet another reason why I miss Starkville....Bops! I love this concrete custard! I can't get enough! I always get the same yummy one: Vanilla custard, brownie bites with caramel swirled within! Never gets old! So glad I was able to get my fix last week! Can't wait for my next Starkville trip so I can get my Bops!
First time trying this place out, tried the snappy turtle and mocha choca ya-ya. Nothing special but a good frozen custard place if youre craving it.
Great custard, great people servicing and an awesome selection. Can't go wrong with any concrete combination. Definitely plan on messing up any diet that your on.

Two Brothers Smoked Meats

103 C Rue Du Grand Fromage

Reviews:
Lived up to the hype. Great smoked wings and pulled chicken tacos. Only challenge was finding a parking space
Let's cut to the chase, Two Brothers has the best chicken wings I've ever eaten in my entire life. (disclaimer, I don't usually order chicken wings at places so that statement might not mean much, but this girl was impressed). They're smoked with a dry rub and just full of flavor. Moving onto the dinner menu, the duck sliders and the chipotle pork tacos were nothing short of amazing. Since each entree came with 3, my hubby and I were able to trade 1 of each so we could try everything. The atmosphere is fun and the space is quaint. Not a whole lot of seating, so I imagine that they get pretty busy. The bar was fully stocked...I wish they had a better beer selection, and especially more on tap. But where their beer is lacking, their food makes up! Awesome little place to stop in for dinner on any night. I also heard that they're amazing for catered tailgates!
$2 Taco Tuesday was a lot of fun. My first visit there. I want to go back and try more items.

Umi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi Bar

315 Hwy 12 W
Starkville, 39759
Reviews:
Great place to eat at. Ordered 2 boats full of sushi rolls and it was really good. The sushi chef also gave in a complimentary roll. The manager also bought us a round of sake when we were taking sake bombs. Overall, if you want to have a good time in a great environment then I highly recommend this place.
Fairly typical Japanese Steak House. Good place, good food, with a entertaining and friendly chefs! No complaints.
As a couple people here have noted, make sure you go to their new location, in the shopping center on Hwy 12 & Louisville (near Sportsplex). They've got a really nice new, elegant location, and they keep pretty late hours - always a plus in a college town! They have a huge selection of specialty sushi rolls (my favorite so far is the alligator roll), as well as sashimi and bento boxes. However, if you are a vegetarian, I would personally recommend Sushi on Main instead of Umi because they have more veggie friendly options.

Strange Brew Coffeehouse

605 Hwy 12
Starkville, 39759
Reviews:
One of my favorite places to be in Starkville just got better! In midst of a reno, the talented barista still serving them up with a smile! I highly recommend the albino squirrel- you can get it iced, frozen, or steaming hot! Today, I'm having iced along with a homemade oatmeal cream pie. Get yourself in here and #drinklocal peeps!!
Strange Brew Coffeehouse has become a staple of Starkville, Mississippi. Any bulldog i familiar with the 2015, best coffee shop in the (#hail)state, and this isn't their first year to win, either. The Coffee shop is conveniently located on the busiest intersection in Starkville and faces HWY12 which leads straight on to the Mississippi State campus. They have very unique drinks, such as a Yeti Albino Squirrel Frap (you'll have to try it to see what I mean!). While at Strange Brew know that you will be served local coffee and homemade vanilla syrup! They also have their mix of fun and unusual mugs. As a student, I have come to study and during exam weeks SB is known to stay open 24/7! WOW. However, I've always found it too loud to actually do homework inside, I always use the convenient drive thru. Though the shop is more Starbucks-esque with their 'Caramel Macchiatos,' you won't be disappointed. I would recommend Strange Brew to anyone visiting the Starkville area!
Can't give 5 stars because I'm not always impressed. But the past two times I've been here, it's been pretty stellar. The Mr. Wayne and the Dark Knight are both pretty ballin' cups of coffee. Staff are usually pretty friendly and it's always a clean relaxed environment.

Central Station Grill

200 S Montgomery St,Ste A
Starkville, 39759
Reviews:
Since opening in Starkville, Central Station has become our favorite restaurant in the Columbus-Starkville area. They have a wide menu selection, and it's not only different from the same old menu selections you see at every other restaurant, it's not trying to reach too far down your pallet with strange pairings or bizarre Chef creations. After all, does anyone really want Beet and Oyster Purée over Vanilla Bean Gelato? One of the best things about Central Station is that they have an upstairs with 2 separate large group seating areas. They do NOT look like the typical run-of-the-mill banquet areas, but are very modern, beautiful places to have Rehearsal Dinners, Reunion Dinners, Organization or Meeting Dinners or Lunches, etc. They have such an amazing Brunch Menu (the Chicken and Waffles are to die for), that 2 years ago I reserved one of the areas for my daughters Bridesmaids Brunch. Central Station allowed us to decorate with pink runners over their white table cloths, flowers arrangements, candelabras, Pink Menus that we had printed so our guests knew what we were offering them, etc. They even let us bring a 3 layer Bridesmaids Cake! The food was so delicious! Everyone loved having a choice of a Mimosa or Bloody Mary with Brunch, Central Station provided full coffee service and even cut the cake! The best part is that their prices were so reasonable!!!! They took care of everything, gave me firm prices, and there were NO surprises when I got the bill! Since that Bridesmaids Brunch, we have married 2 more daughters and a son and have used Central Station for all those occasions. They were Five Star every time!
I have always loved the Grill. Definitely a Starkville staple. During the LSU fame, my husband and I decided to go for Sunday brunch. I don't know if the hostess was overwhelmed or not but she was seating out of order and not giving bar/patio seating options to all guests. This made several people mad enough to leave. Our food was good but you could tell they were busy. I got the crab cake Benedict and my husband got the sampler breakfast. They were both good and I was full, but it was definitely a smaller amount of food. I also went to the restroom and a server came in and was texting on her phone the entire time I was in there. Note that I said that the restaurant was crowded and probably had 20 groups waiting outside for a table.
Order the hamburger!!!! Seriously delicious! Great service and atmosphere as well. (Oh and pepperjack cheese sticks or spring rolls for a starter).

Stromboli’s

408 University Dr
Starkville, 39759
Reviews:
I normally love this place but if you ask for garlic butter you better check to make sure they actually gave you some. The last few times I got it, there was barely enough for one piece and the garlic butter is half the reason I order their pizza anyway. And the bottom of the pizza was almost to the point of being burnt.
Was looking for a local eatery to enjoy while bringing my daughter to school. This place is a must visit spot whenever in Starkville! The hand rolled pizza is amazing!
Stromboli's. It doesn't get much better. I absolutely LOVE their calzones. My favorite it the muffuletta. Also, the cookie notes for dessert is my favorite option!
