One of my favorite places to be in Starkville just got better! In midst of a reno, the talented barista still serving them up with a smile! I highly recommend the albino squirrel- you can get it iced, frozen, or steaming hot! Today, I'm having iced along with a homemade oatmeal cream pie. Get yourself in here and #drinklocal peeps!!

Strange Brew Coffeehouse has become a staple of Starkville, Mississippi. Any bulldog i familiar with the 2015, best coffee shop in the (#hail)state, and this isn't their first year to win, either. The Coffee shop is conveniently located on the busiest intersection in Starkville and faces HWY12 which leads straight on to the Mississippi State campus. They have very unique drinks, such as a Yeti Albino Squirrel Frap (you'll have to try it to see what I mean!). While at Strange Brew know that you will be served local coffee and homemade vanilla syrup! They also have their mix of fun and unusual mugs. As a student, I have come to study and during exam weeks SB is known to stay open 24/7! WOW. However, I've always found it too loud to actually do homework inside, I always use the convenient drive thru. Though the shop is more Starbucks-esque with their 'Caramel Macchiatos,' you won't be disappointed. I would recommend Strange Brew to anyone visiting the Starkville area!

Can't give 5 stars because I'm not always impressed. But the past two times I've been here, it's been pretty stellar. The Mr. Wayne and the Dark Knight are both pretty ballin' cups of coffee. Staff are usually pretty friendly and it's always a clean relaxed environment.

Staying in Brooksville for 2 weeks and I was missing just the experience of going to a coffee shop. 2 friends suggested Strange Brew one evening, I was all for it to go try it out. It was about 9:30pm so I was thankful it was open late. We made the 35 minute drive to Starkville. Got to Strange Brew and I could tell there was a pretty good chance that I would end up loving this place. The decor is "different" in a good way. I ordered the Dark Chocolate Mocha, Yeti Style (which means it is blended with chocolate-covered coffee beans) I really enjoyed this drink! The one thing I didn't especially appreciate was the zombie mannequin by the doorway. I'm not really into zombies and it felt like it did not add to the atmosphere in any way. If I'm ever back in the area I will come by again definitely!

Best coffee in North MS, hands down. I miss it terribly and even give the bags of ground coffee at Christmas to other Bulldogs that miss Starkville. It is a perfect pick me up for a drive if you are leaving a Football or basketball game too. The complimentary chocolate covered espresso bean is just the icing on the cake...er...coffee. Do yourself a favor and skip the generic Starbucks and go see the mad scientist at Strange Brew.

This place is a staple of Starkville, MS. They have a variety of coffee flavors/drinks, pastries, and random merchandise. They are also very entertaining with their sign marquee. They often put up phrases or quotes that reference popular culture, local sports, and even poke fun at other local shops. It's a fun way the coffee shop maintains a connection to the community. It also has gas pumps on site which adds convenience. I am a big fan of their blueberry coffee, and their version of a caramel macchiato. The pastry options are good but pretty standard. The staff is always polite and prompt, but it never feels very genuine. Just like they're going through the motions. It feels like I'm being served by a part time college kid who might like coffee, but lacks any passion for it...Which in turn is reflected in the overall quality of the drinks. While most of their menu options taste amazing, they fall short on what I consider to be quality espresso drinks. I personally think that the coffee/espresso should be the star of the experience. However, most of the drinks I have tried at The Brew seemed to be more sugar based than coffee. Basically, if you want a super tasty, high calorie coffee-shake this place has some mind blowing stuff. If you are more of a coffee connoisseur I would hit up 929 Coffee Bar on Main Street. It has a better location, modern ambience, and a staff of genuine and friendly folks who know their coffee.

Well, when in Starkville this seems to be the place for coffee. As mentioned, it shares a building with Cold Stone Creamery and parking lot with a McDonalds but don't let that put you off. Barista was friendly, drink, a latte, was made as requested, seating upstairs was comfortable. Overall, probably as funky as it gets in these parts.

Without a doubt my favorite coffeehouse! I've been trying to taste everything on the menu, and I have yet to find something I don't like. Service is always friendly and pretty quick. My recommendations are the southern pecan coffee and the albino squirrel!

This is a really cool place to hang out and grab cup of coffee and get some homework done. I rather enjoy all the flavors they have for the lattes as well. It's got the flavor of corporate but the vibe of local and I know they mean well! Reasonably priced and all around tastes pretty good! Definitely will come back!

Strange Brew has very unique coffee choices and the baristas are generally polite. Their drive thru is extremely slow though. They have free wifi to study but their chairs and seating is cramped both up and down stairs. They tried to pack way too many tables and chairs in one area. Also it doesn't help the chairs are pretty uncomfortable for a long period of time, like the time it takes to write a paper. I had to get up and go some place else to do my work that didn't cause my back to ache. Upstairs does have a fun assortment of games like battleship and scrabble. It's good for a Sunday morning with friends as you drink some coffee. Though the coffee can be a bit inconsistent with the flavoring and ratios. And it's pretty expensive, on level with Starbucks. But I know many people would rather support the small town company than corporate giant Starbucks across the street. Overall it's nice for certain occasions especially with their 24 hours service during finals week. The owner is definitely in tuned with the town of Starkville which makes Strange Brew unique!

Super delicious coffee. I hate seeing crap competition opening up across the street though.... Strange Brew is the only SB.

Starbucks? One sip of a Strange Brew- I don't even remember that place with the green. Strange brew is a real local coffee shop. The coffee is unrivaled - service is great -and no big corporation could hold a candle to the little things that make Strange Brew a must-have on every visit to Starkville. The blueberry coffee topped with a chocolate covered expresso bean is life changing!

The other non chain coffee option in Starkville opposite 929. If it comes down to it my loyalty is with 929 coffeehouse but I like this place too. The real killer for me though is the location. Strange brew is located on highway 12 and shares space with an ice cream shop and gas station. There is virtually no parking and because it's located on the highway it is not possible to walk there or from there. If i do go there though the staff tends to be friendly, the coffee and pastries are good, and the seating area upstairs is actually a great place to hang out or study. Also I like that they give you a chocolate covered coffee bean with every purchase. It's a nice little touch that I look forward to whenever I go. Sadly, I think strange brew might be on the way out. There is now a newly built Starbucks across the street from them that has more parking and seating along with the brand name appeal. It's already obvious that strange brew is having trouble competing with that. I do want to see this place survive but for that to happen they absolutely have to ditch this gas station location and reopen somewhere else. Side note: one of the nicest bathrooms I've seen in Starkville.

Coffee is good. Layout is strange. Upstairs is pretty neat, but too dark to get much work done. Nonethess, there are often several people working upstairs in cramped areas, squinting their eyes. The coffee is worth the price, no doubt.

Strange Brew is the coffeehouse of Starkville. Forget Starbucks, Barnes and Noble...even Shipley's Donuts. This is what a college town coffeehouse should be like. Its sad it has to be part of a gas station and Cold Stone development, but for what it lacks in outside appeal, it makes up for on the inside! It's two floors at a nice quite and busy aspect to the shop, where you can either mingle or study for that next exam. The coffee is not only the best in town, its also relatively cheap. Their speciality coffee mixes are also on the low cost side, but are probably the most flavorful I have tasted in this area. The best part of StrangeBrew is there store front sign. Each week you are sure to get some small inspiration from the gleaming white and black sign. Whether it says "Go Dawgs!" or "Let the Wookie Win" or even attacking the coffee of its next door rival McDonald's, it is always a great laugh.

This is one of the only true coffee shops in town other than the Starbucks in B&N, but I have to say I didn't think their coffee was all that great. The baristas are really nice, though, and it's a good place if you're looking for a quiet spot to study.

Hands down, this is the ONLY place I will stop for coffee or a latte in Starkville. Awesome atmosphere and tasty drinks!
