Came here on business struggled finding a non-chain establishment. Hotel made this and two other suggestions. Great choice when we selected this one. The restaurant has been there for four years but the building is 111 years old. If the walls could only talk. We each ordered a rib eye streak. My guest wanted a baked potato which they were out of?? I could see being out of the potato casserole but not a baked potato. I didn't expect to have my salad dressing in a plastic to go type cup as it took away from the overall ambiance. Would come back. The live music added a sense of hometown flair.

If you ever come here and get the shrimp salad, ask for the shrimp to be deveined or they will not do that for you. The coffee burger really had no coffee taste to it, even though it's encrusted in coffee grounds. This is the worst restaurant that I have eaten at in Mississippi.

I was excited to try the Loft on my most recent business trip to Laurel. There seems to be a distinct lack of good restaurants in Laurel for some reason and I had heard good things about this place from my client. While ok, and definitely good in comparison to other offerings in Laurel, I was not blown away by the Loft. I had gone in expecting to order a steak. But, they only offered one type of steak on their menu, ribeye if I remember correctly, in various sizes. I just wasn't feeling it for some reason so decided to go with "the best burger in Laurel." The burger was super tasty upon first bite, but as I continued to eat it became increasingly obvious that it was over-salted. If they had mellowed on the salt a bit, I would have enjoyed my meal much more. And, it was an alright burger, but nothing super fantastic. It was similar to what my dad might cook on the grill. As a side I went with the loaded potato casserole. (I had wanted a loaded baked potato, but apparently those are only offered on certain nights.) The casserole was tasty, but very filling so I didn't eat much of it. The wine and beer offerings were disappointing. They really only carry one brand of wine: Woodbridge. And, they had the typical beer: Bud light, Coors light, Heineken, etc. All of those sounded blech to me, so I stuck with water. My service was very good and friendly. From listening to other tables though, there appears to be some inconsistency among what each server tells their tables. For example, the table behind me was informed of some specials that I was not. So, because it is in Laurel, this place gets 3 stars. If it were anywhere else, I'd probably have to go with 2. They have potential, they just need to make some adjustments to be a truly good/great restaurant.

This was our second visit to The Loft and we were again disappointed. The service was horrible, we were there for an hour when it should of been 30 minutes for a burger and chicken sandwich. The appetizer was good, we had the 5 cheese fried cheese sticks. I had the Coffee Crusted burger, it was very dry and burnt around the edges but very medium to medium rare in the middle. My wife had the Cajun chicken sandwich which was dry without any flavor and was opened faced instead of a regular sandwich. There wasn't any beer on tap, it was all In bottles and were regular domestic beer. Overall, I was disappointed in the service, slow and inattentive. Three other tables were seated and were served and left in the amount of time that we were at the restaurant. I like to support local restaurants but we will not be supporting this one ever again. Very disappointed.

I was in town on busyness. I was with 6 other coworkers. The waitress was really cheerful and efficient. She took our drink orders. I myself ordered a scotch, to find out later they didn't have. So I told her any scotch would do at this point. When I received my drink (Scotch and water) it was tequila and water. Really? Appetizer came out, they were excellent. Everybody's main course came out except for one member of our party. Come to find out the waitress forgot to turn it in. Then our salads came out. The guy that didn't get food, didn't receive it till we were all finished. The food was great. We ordered cheese cake. It was excellent. After all that we still had to pay over $350 to get out of there. We WILL NOT return!!

Dined on a Saturday night and while the crowd was absent, the service was a little slow. The food was great although covered in way more creole sauce and pepper than I prefer. Unlike some of the other reviewers I had no problem because of my ethnicity. I would come back on my next trip to this area.

Visiting Laurel I thought The Loft would be a good CHOICE of restaurants in the area as it was one of the few places that had food that was not either covered in BBQ sauce or Fried. When I reserved the table the hostess stated that there was going to be a fundraiser going on that evening without disclosing the nature of the fundraiser. There was a live band in the outdoor section, which could be easily heard indoors but was not too intrusive. I ordered the blackened salmon. The waitress indicated that the salmon was wild caught and not farmed. I don't know where the chef would have been able to get wild caught salmon in Laurel, MS but that is another topic. I ordered steamed vegetables as a side. The salmon was properly cooked but the side of steamed broccoli was soggy and tasteless. I was told by a member in my party that is how vegetables are cooked in the south. After being at The Loft for a little while I found out that the fundraiser was a Right to Life fundraiser, which was attended by representatives of Sheriff Hodges re-election committee. The reason for the fundraiser was harder to swallow than the grossly-overcooked broccoli. While it is the owner's CHOICE to have such a fundraiser it is ironic that the affect of the fundraiser is to steal CHOICE from women. While I am willing to try most anything with my food, surprise politics is NOT something I want.

Yep - They have sweet potato fries! Historical Downtown Laurel is in the midst of being revitalized. The Loft is a great example of how they've reinvigorated an empty building into something great! Located in an old bank, the Loft has a good menu with some interesting choices. Our party enjoyed the Salmon, the Chicken Parm, the Chicken Salad, and I had the Shrimp Wrap. Everyone was pleased with their meals. They sat us outside in a beautiful courtyard, which set the atmosphere perfectly for dinner. When in Laurel - check it out!

The food was very good - too much, but well prepared and quite flavorful. We went with the waitress' advice and got the flounder with a creole cream sauce - wow! The potato casserole was interesting as well but about 3 times what i can eat. Here's the problem. We ordered a drink. She came back and dropped them off and before we were two sips in, she brought the salads. Then before we had looked too deeply at them, she brought out the main course! We would have liked a bit of space between the courses, but apparently if she didn't get that annoying 'serving thing' out of the way, she would have forgotten all about us because that's the last time we saw her. When I reached my waiting limit I brought up a credit card, and said, "We haven't seen the waitress since she dumped our food, so please charge us and let us leave." Not a word, no manager, no sorry, no nothing. So - if you go, order carry out.

Unless you're white don't bother! I was meeting a friend of mine( who is black) and I got there early. I was seated by the hostess right away. My friend was late and I had no idea she was waiting behind the partition. She waited a duration of 4 songs and was repeatedly told she would be seated in a minute. Meanwhile, other folks (all white) were seated right away. Unfortunately I did not know this as I could not hear my phone when she was trying to call me to let me know she was waiting in the foyer. Will not be back to this establishment stuck in an unfortunate time warp.

Had a very good lunch there today! Service was good... Atmosphere was nice... And the special was really good and economical!

We've been travelling in the areas for the past two weeks and this restraunt is the best we've visited thus far. It's located in an old bank. I had their signature lasagna and my friend had their chicken parm. We were both very happy with our meals. The atmosphere is interesting, the food delicious, and the wait staff very attentive. The restaraunt is fairly new... give it a try if you're in the Laurel area.

The Loft had a great 20 oz ribeye that compared with great steakhouses outside this area. The owners were friendly and service was good. Loving the new atmosphere and patio.
