Got takeout meals for 6 people. Salsa is definitely not anything special and we sampled about 6 varieties. Bland...even spicy salsa was JUST spice with no real flavor. Food was just ok. Dry rice. Beans were unseasoned black beans. People with chicken fajitas were the happiest in the group. Chips were pretty good...too bad the salsa was boring. Basically it provided us with nourishment but not a ton of enjoyment.

We eat here about once a month. Staff is friendly, we get our food within five to ten minutes of ordering. I love the fresh veggies on the burritos. The mango peach salsa is really tasty. Some Mexi-American food chains leave us feeling queasy, we leave here feeling great!

My favorite chain of American-Mexican food. This location is really easy to get to from I-94 and is often my first stop when I drive in to the Cities. They have a much more extensive menu than Chipotle and Qdoba so that is really nice. The best thing about Baja Sol is the free, all-you-can-eat chips and salsa bar. The chips are amazingly good. There are about 10 different kinds of salsas to try too including one or two seasonal varieties that change. Definitely worth a try.

Have been there twice. The first time was awesome. The second time the manager was on the phone having difficulty with the register - we waited patiently - he finally took our orders. My wife's food was good. Unfortunately I found a rock and then grit in my TACO SALAD. While the manager attempted to make good on the meal, I had lost my appetite. Simply beware.

The thing everyone raves about is the free chips and salsa which you can get at any mexican restaurant, even the real ones.

I eat here about once a week, since it is close to my office. For Mexican "fast food" I like it better than Chipotle (where your burrito is 2/3 rice, but I'll save that rant for another time). The chip and salsa bar is the winner here. It's nice to be able to mix salsas together and make your own creations. I'll keep going regularly.

We had nachos with carnitas on a Sunday and my daughters meal was free! Score! I liked this place a lot...we don't have this in Northern California and this is way better than Baja Fresh... The carnitas had great flavor and it was great that we could get more tortilla chips from the chips and salsa bar...good selection of salsas. The cashier was nice and made suggestions as well.. Nice clean restaurant.

First time here and I would definitely recommend this to my friends. My hostess Celia was very helpful, friendly and brought me a side of lettuce at no charge. The quality of the entrée, chips and salsa were outstanding. Especially for the price you pay. I think you'll be happy you tried BajaSol.

Went in and had the 3 fish taco meal. The fish was light, crispy and really good. The salsa bar had a decent selection of salsa's of varying heats and tastes. While This is nowhere near the best fish taco I've had, it was really good for the 6 bucks and with the chips and salsa, I would go back again easily. My friend got the margarita chicken salad and said it was quite good. We also got the queso dip and it was gooey, warm and tasty. I was really surprised by this place. The food was good, the price is right, and it was clean with good, FRIENDLY service with a real smile.

I love BAHA SOL the best thing about this place is their excellent salsa bar. There must be 500 different combinations of salsa you can make if you just use your imagination. I usually get their tacos, they are probably the best thing there. I have gotten the burritos but they are just a little bit bland to me. Chipotle's burritos are a much better choice. This location has a friendly staff who keep the place clean and neat. Worst time to go is during the noon hour during the week it is a mad house. All of the business people that work on the North side of I94 seem to go to this place at lunch time. I have waited close to 10 mins just to order!! I can't say I blame people this food is excellent.

As a busy family of five, taking the entire fam out to dinner can be a mortgage payment - Baja Sol is doing their part, one spicy salsa bar at a time to help the working man out! Such a fun treat in MN! Salsa bar rules! AND kids eat free on Sunday - that was a surprise! Would have been a 5 star but the habenero salsa wasn't there! I always opt for the chicken tinga (chicken marinated with jalapeños = hello Heaven!) on nachos or burritos. Actually split nachos with the wife while enjoying the burrito. Also the salsa bar offers freshly chopped jalapenos and pickeled jalapeños....so yeah, it's really easy to get it zingy here. Kids eating free on Sunday was like the coup de gras for us. I love Baja Sol overall - but this specific location struggles and the frustrating piece is that it is the closest to our house....always have some sort of issue, never have a fully stocked salsa bar, order is just a little off...bummer.

I am not going to bother going here, anymore. The food is hit or miss. Last night was a miss. My chicken tamale was dry and bland. The shrimp in my tacos were cooked just shy of burnt and tasted greasy, like the grill needed a good cleaning. Add in the usual unwiped, filthy tables and the floors in need of sweeping, and I can't recommend going here.

After waiting 42 minutes for our food to be ready in a nearly empty restaurant, the food was absolutely horrible and not close to being edible. It had to be the worst restaurant food I have ever eaten. All three people in my party were violently ill all evening after eating here. I would never recommend anyone I liked to ever enter this establishment.

I'm amazed at all the good reviews. I ate here for lunch and had the Fajita Burrito with steak. I also grabbed a few containers of salsa to try out and bought some Guacamole to go with the tasty chips. My meal was utterly tasteless. Honestly, some of the worst food I have had in a long time. It was really, really bland. It's aparent that they do NOT use fresh ingredients. The salsas also were not good at all. I love Salsa verde (the green salsa) but the stuff they served here was not salsa verde - I don't know what it was. The other salsa were no good either. Even the quacamole tasted terrible - it had a sour vinigar like taste. It tasted nothing like real quacamole with avacado. Yuck! On the positive side I will say the staff was very friendly and the place was clean and well kept. The chips were very tasty. I will NOT go back to Baja Sol.

A superior alternative to Chipotle -- seek it out. It has a larger menu and comparable quality. I've driven past this place a hundred times and never stopped in. Not sure what to expect when I finally did, I found a colorful Chipotle--style place offering 'fast Mexican.' I had chicken Taquino-style: shredded chicken in a tangy sauce with mild chopped onions and tomatoes. My wife had incredible fish burrito -- Chipotle-sized, so she had enough to take home for another meal. We were surprised to find an all-you-can-eat salsa-and-chips bar. The chips were fresh-made, hot and just the right about of oil. The salsa selection was unusual and kind of a buffet of red, yellow and greens. I picked a smoky habanero-blend and another of mango. My wife had a sweet corn salsa. We took our baskets to the outside patio. *** How this place is like Chipotle: same price, similar scheme of fast food. *** How it is better than Chipotle: the free chips and amazing salsa, fish burritos and tacos, and an overall larger menu selection. The music is much less loud and annoying than Chipotle's. (Chipotle keeps its music on the loud side to discourage lingering and encourage customer flow. It's the Abercrombie of Tex-Mex) *** How Chipotle beats Baja Sol: their cilantro-lime rice. Yes, it's really a cheap filler to stretch our the meat, but I LOVE Chipotle's rice. I still like Chipotle, but if the two places were side-by-side, I'd walk in the Baja Sol door all the time. NOTE: There's a related restaurant chain called 'Baja Sol Cantina.' That is more of a sit-down, cutlery restaurant. It's NOT the same place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
