Great burgers. Loud as hell though. Stood at the cashier and watched him plug his ears trying to listen to a phone order. The person on the phone ended up hanging up. Turn the music down!!

One of the newest trends to hit cities is the "craft" burger fast food stop! From 5 Guys to Smash Burger to one of the originals, Burger Time, they seem to be popping up everywhere, but is one of them really better than the next? I'm not a huge supporter of the chains, but I will occasionally test the market to see if something is worth eating. This is going to be posted at some of the others I have mentioned as a cross referenced review to be fair, but I will say - If you've had one from one place, you've had them all! Nothing really setting them apart from each other besides maybe the size of the burger, some of the creative toppings and the bun. As for the burger itself though, flavors is pretty basic and similar from place to place. The distribution or supplier may just be a little different as well. All-in-all, I'll stick to the ma and pa, one off's for my burger fixes. They're just better!

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. I was hangry one afternoon and really needing a red meat fix. I strolled into Five Guys purchased a big old greasy bag of taters and a single and had no shame to my game as I sat alone and inhaled that thing like a boss. Filling, Flavorful and a good value. sometimes you can get satisfaction.....

Juicy, flavorful burgers! Nice patio area to enjoy a close-by water fountain. For me, a burger is a burger, but the place was packed, the service was friendly, and I was happy!

Another burger chain (along with Smash Burger) that the entire family enjoys, great burgers, and tons of fries.

I tried 5 Guys 2 weeks ago. I loved it!!! It's a bit of a wait but worth it. The little fries are portion huge!! I'll be back.

Honestly the best burger and fries we have ever had...we compared to all burger joints in our area and will be at 5 guys for all future burger cravings! The fries are plentiful, real homemade, delicious and the burgers are juicy and so flavorful!! The staff is very friendly and we have had great experiences....oh and do not forget about the free peanuts...nice to snack on while waiting for your fresh made to order burger....but do not eat to many or you will not have room for the delicious meal you just ordered...Kudos 5 Guys!!!

My first experience with this chain, and yes I enjoyed my food. But what I really want to share is my experience with the staff. Everyone was polite and attentive. They looked me in the eye, smiled, and were patient while I made my order. Their patience with me, however, was nothing compared with the way they treated the older gentlemen next to me. He was clearly hearing impaired and had great difficulty placing his order. No matter. They were patient with him and went the extra mile to make sure they got his order correct. When his number was called and he didn't look up, one of the guys behind the counter brought him his food, and remained until he was sure everything was correct. They never rushed him, never rolled their eyes, nor snickered at him. Such respect and patience really made my day. Thanks!

This is the best place to get a burger and fires without getting price gouged. The burgers are about $5 for a single and $6 for a double. The fries are like the State Fair fries. You can load up with EVERYTHING and it doesn't cost extra.

Hands down the dirtiest restaurant I've been to in a long time. It was about 3 in the afternoon. Busy place but almost and shouldn't eaten here. The tables that we're open and there we're about 6 never had been cleaned and we saw no one cleaning them the entire meal. The small garbage was so full I had to force my refuge in. Also was not offered or informed of the peanuts and was one of the few things not on the floor like other Five Guys we have been to. A place to which we would never return and maybe the chain itself.

I like Five Guys. The food is greasy but good. You are guaranteed to be messy by the time you are done with your food. The service is so/so and the prices are on the high side. Overall cleanliness of the restaurant in the customer area is not too good. With the prices they charge and how busy they always are, they should be able to afford an employee to keep the customer area clean.

Burgers were good, on par with what one expects from Five Guys but our lunch date was disturbed by the continuous loud surveys being continuously performed. The employee performing the surveys approached us and stated the survey would take a minute which we hesitantly agreed to but after about a minute she couldn't come up with a way to opt out of questions we didn't want to answer, far more than a minutes had elapsed. Should have take lunch to go....

I'm not a huge fan of the Oakdale location. I was introduced to Five Guys at the Edina location. Oakdale opened like a year later. What I like least about Oakdale is the layout. The line for the cashier SHOULD wrap around the peanuts they lay out. Unfortunately, They often stack the potato bags in a way so that when people enter the doors, they do not see that there is a spot for the line. Instead they queue up straight back from the register which is right along the counter seating. Let me tell you, it's terrible to sit at that counter seating and having people bumping up against your and having their purses hit you, all because they are not standing where the line should clearly go. So basically all that seating is annoying or unusable. They really don't have anywhere to stand when you have already ordered and are waiting for food. because this space is shared with the soda fountain and condiments, you are always in someone's way. Especially if you need condiments. They are up in the corner that is most busy. They should really move those. It's a huge hassle. Plus this location seems to be a magnet for families and those orders don't clear the line as fast, leaving more people standing around. Anyway... floor plan aside..... the place is usually clean and busy. The food is alright. Better than McDonald's but not as good as a restaurant. I sort of like the idea of the extra fries they give you.... after they put your food in the bag, they dump another scoop of fries on top. It's sort of cool that you get extra.... but it really just turns everything into a hot greasy mess. It makes having food to go a real hassle. It's nice to get a real burger occasionally. It's a decent place but not a place I could be a regular at.

Large burger, greasy (in a good way, as in, not dry) and ALL the toppings you could want! The burgers are good. Not, by ANY mean, the BEST burger ever, but good enough for a quick dinner. Flavorful, big, and lots of fresh toppings. Get a "little burger" if you just want ONE patty (trust me, it's big enough) because their "regular" is TWO patties. The fries are so-so. They salt them well, and give you SO MANY that it's ridiculous, but they just aren't that great. They're "hand-cut" style, and just not crispy enough for my tastes. The employees, however, are FANTASTIC. We've been to this location twice, and both times were warmly greeted, had the menu very briefly explained to us, chatted with nicely as we were at the register, and had someone stop by our table to see if we were enjoying our meals. They serve in-shell peanuts to munch on while you wait, if that's something you are in to. Me- when I am waiting for a burger, I want grease in my mouth STAT, not peanuts! Also- their fountain drinks are Coke products, yay!

Holy insanity! I have NEVER walked into a busier burger place! Super positive staff all having fun working hard and just rocking the food through. I decided to check out the new Five Guys in Woodbury because I had enjoyed them so much on the East Coast. I was not dissapointed by the burger. It was PERFECT!! If you want 2 patties order the regular burger if that's too much order the little burger and it should be plenty! (I wasn't able to finish) The fries on the other hand....ehhh I expected them to be super amazing considering all the propoganda on the walls about how great they were. Not amazing, average I would say! I'll be back but probably skip the fries next time!

I am really happy that this restaurant opened so close to my office. The french fries, I thought were great, fast food or otherwise. The burgers are hands down the best fast food burger around. I love all the options you can get on the burger, fried onions, peppers, mushrooms, among many others. I think the buns are too thin. The burgers are so greasy that the bun basically dissolves as you eat it. Also, If you get the large burger with an order of fries and soda, it costs $12. For that price, you can go to a sit down burger bar. All and all, there aren't a ton of great lunch options around here, and I will certainly go here probably once or twice a month. The staff is trained very well and are very friendly and take pride in their work, which is much more than you can say for the employees at a Wendy's or McDonald's.

This place will complete your quota on one of the deadly sins: GLUTTONY!! The burgers are double patties and huge. The large fries for $5 was 7 Large potatoes worth! You get your monies worth and will be explaining your cholesterol problem to your doctor soon

I don't care about the location. I had a burger that compared to In-N-Out...without having to go out west. That is all I ever really wanted. Now, I need to pretend I don't know about Five Guys so I don't gain 100 lbs.

Excellent service and the best burger in the area. The fries could be a little less soggy, but their freshness makes up for it. Be back as soon as my arteries have a chance to recover!

This falls in the category of you gotta go sometime. It is in a very dominant corner before you hit 94West across the street. I remember LMAO at all the bad reviews of the various locations. It's a pretty standard burger. The fries are really good and actually taste like potatoes. They come out in a greasy bag. With a name like this, you would think they would have combos. No dice. They seem to have a display of sacks of potatoes and buns. To make sure you know that even though it's fast food, they're not serving shit. Their gimmick seems to be they serve peanuts while you wait. No comment. What I like, the red and white tile retro look, kind of like Junior's. The large single very clean bathroom. The straight shot out of the mall right onto the freeway. This reminds me of the 80's with the comparison of Prince and Michael Jackson. In this case, Smashburger won.

If you are not looking for entertainment, although the night we went there were some intresting characters not sure which gender but nice and friendly, this place might be worth a try. They have a real simple menu for the most part. Burgers one patty or two and then about 20 toppings and condiments of which there is no limit and no charge. They will cook them like you want from fresh not frozen beef. Fresh buns and realtively clean if a bit spartan enviornment of tables and chairs which you can arrange as needed for your group size. Speaking of group size. Unless you have more than 3-4 people one order of fries will suffice for your entire party. You get a medium size bag brimming with fresh hot maybe a little greasy really good fries. My wife and I couldnt finish even half the bag. They have to use 4 or more potatoes for each bag. Good fast service, above average food (for a burger joint anyway) and your feed and happy and on your way for a reasonable price. The one thing that struck me strange was a stack of 100 lb bags of potatoes arranged in an L shape that served to channel customers up to the counter where you order. I dont know if thats where they always store their potatoes but this was at like 800pm when we were there and if they were going to put them away it was getting late. I question this since when it got a little busier there were people waiting in line to get to the order counter. And there were people leaning all over the bags of potatoes and the shorter people (7-8 yr old kids) literally where sticking their faces against the bags trying to see if they could see thru the other side. Any way any boogers left by them wouldnt survive the cooking oil but that cant be up to board of health specs. Boogers and all I"ll probably go back when I get a hankerin for burgers and fries and am too lazy to cook on the grill,

After hearing tons of hype about this place I decided it was time to check it out - when I discovered that there was one in Woodbury I decided I needed to check it out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. From what I heard I thought I was going to be served THE BEST BURGER EVER, however, thats not what I got - I mean it was great! Better than a Double Chee from McDonalds, but definitely not on my list of my top 5 Burgers Ever (now I need to create a list don't I?) It was definitely greasy (which very health aware me was craving) and ALMOST worth ruining your favorite shirt for. We ordered a regular size fry and it ended up being wayyy more than enough for the two of us - it was seriously 1 paper bag FULL of fries! Overall, it's a great place if you want a good burger and TONS of fries - fast!

They did a good job for a new chain to the Twin Cities. We are fans of this chain on the east coast. Great burgers, fries are virtually endless. Weird seating at this location. Plenty of parking, but can get crazy at rush.

After all the hype we went in one night for some burgers. The line was short this evening compared to what I have seen it at in the past. About 20 mins. I give them points for having peanuts there to snack on while waiting in line. I like the burger. I like that you get a bunch of options. The price is not cheap but could be worse. I give credit for the toppings are not extra. Thank you for that. The cajun fries taste good but are lacking that crispness I like in fry. Grease overload. Will I go back.. Yes... Is it the best burger I ever had? No. The fries really drive down the rating for me also. They are greasy, and soggy. the staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean.

Greasy..meat patties had no flavor. They should at least add salt to it. Never again.

OMG this place was very dirty! None of the tables had been wiped off and it was only 11:15 am. We ordered and sat down at a table. There was an employee scrubbing the tile toe kicks, several tables away. She continued to scrub toward our table. We asked if we should move and she replied no. The next thing I knew she was right under my chair, with a gross bucket of water and a dirty rag. Then another employee started scrubbing the toe kick coming at my table from another direction. I could not believe that the tables being kept clean was not as important as cleaning the toe kicks during lunch rush hour. This is something that should have been cleaned after hours when customers are not trying to eat. I will never eat here again ! Food was so so.

Five guys most certainly serves up some great burgers and fries, however my problem with the place is everything but the food. This location in particular is so cramped with seating.

    (3)
  • James K.

For a standard burger, this is pretty much as good as it gets. If you want something exotic, a juicy lucy, etc, go elsewhere, but for a good bacon cheeseburger you can't go wrong with Five Guys. The fries were okay - better than average - and the portions were good. The Lake Elmo location needs way more seating - but even with a lack of seating we were able to secure a table while we waited for our food to come up.

I have to say, the burger didn't quite live up to the hype. I love burgers...I mean I REALLY love burgers (my unborn child's middle name will probably be "Burger"). I've definitely had better. Maybe this was just a one-time experience but the place was extremely crammed (bad layout) with people tripping over each other and my burger tasted no better than a burger from Champps - the cheese was good though. Couple of additional things - the wait time was a little crazy with people lined up in the doorway and ordering was a little confusing with the cashier telling me twice that I'm ordering incorrectly (weird). In my opinion, the fries are not worth it (pass on those). So, overall it wasn't a bad place and this isn't a "write-off" but I'll probably wait until summer time to go again so I can sit outside and have some breathing room - hopefully it won't be as busy. Oh yeah...they had free roasted peanuts which was nice!

I tried this place after hearing many people say its a great place. I have to say it was just ok. The burger was fine, but any burger specialty restaurant worth its salt would cook your burger to the patrons liking. Not this place. Big sign says all burgers cooked well done. A good burger, like good steak, in my opinion, should never be above medium rare. But that's just me. The fries are extremely soggy. I like crispy fries. Overall it wasn't terrible, but I won't return unless one of my friends is dying to go.

First time here, heard it was the 'east coast' version of In-N-Out. Burger come plain, tons of toppings to chose and all are free. I got the classics. Tomatoes, Grilled Onions, Lettuce and Mayo. Burgers: Good! Fries: Average. They get different potatoes in at different times, so taste varies I guess. These were flavorless. Needed Salt and Ketchup. Place was packed which is good for them... I'll bee back for the Burgers!

This place felt like a modern faster version of the 'famous' lions tap. It's a simple menu that doesn't focus on doing many things. They focus on doing a few things very well. And they do it very well. The burger was great. I did the the regular (which is huge). I also had a small/regular side of fries. This is no doubt enough fries for two or three. They were fresh cut and dumped into the bag. The service was also impressively friendly. For a place with a fast food feel and look they came around and made special effort to make sure we had what we needed and enjoyed the meal.

    (4)
  • Chris F.

Decent, but a little expensive. The fries are fresh cut and they give you plenty.

  • M B.

First time visiting this chain, burger itself was over done (you don't get an option on how they cook the burgers, they are all well done according to the menu board), the topping were fresh - but the volume of the music was so loud that I will not go back. If you could get past all of the employees getting off their shift and eating/waiting for their food, you have to scream in you neighbor's ear to be heard don't see the draw

I have to say that we absolutley loved Five Guys. I was a bit nervous when I saw the line and saw that there didn't seem to be a ton of tables. I was thinking it would either take forever or we wouldn't find a spot to sit. The line went fast and the staff knew how to deal with lots of people. They also were good at keeping the tables cleaned as people left. Well I thought the burger was absolutely delicious! One of the best I have ever had! The small size burger was plenty big for me. My seven year old who is normally a very picky eater devoured her burger in no time. We shared a large fry between two adults and a child and still had some leftover. The fries were fresh cut and very tasty. The burger juicy and awesome-better than I expected! YUM!

Great Burgers - great price. The Staff was extra friendly too. Favorite burger place by far.

Not the very best burger I have ever had in my life but very darn close. I can say I have officially found my new favorite fast food chain. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, sauted mushrooms, tomato, pickle, mayo, and hot sauce and was in instant heaven when biting into this delicious burger, I thought this burger beat smashburgers twin city burger by far with way more flavor. And the fries, oh my god do they hook you up.Me and my daughter split 1 regular fry, still had enough leftovers for me to have a snack later that night and for my daughter to have lunch the next day.they give you so many fries that people loose them on the floor and you will definetly see a messy floor at this place during a busy dinner rush. The staff was friendly also.I will definetly be back again and recommend. The only issue I have with this place is I wish they served shakes or malts.

  • Josh S.

Delicious as always. Probably one of the best $5 burgers you can get. Fries are always good as well l, particularly Cajun style. Service speed was acceptable-- place was packed and we had to wait a few minutes for some tables to open up. Anytime you want a solid burger and fries, stop into Five Guys.

    (5)
  • Julie M.

It's always good--can't go wrong--it's not that I think they are the very best burgers in the world, but you won't be disappointed with the burgers or the fries. And that's basically all there is--of course you can get endless burger toppings (most free) and cajun or regular fries (prefer regular). Staff was nice, free peanuts kept us happy. Make sure if you or your guest have a severe peanut allergy you steer clear of any Five Guys--they have buckets of free in the shell peanuts. If they could start to compost I would move 'em up to a 4 easy! They are pretty much there with the waste stream anyway :)
