I've been wanting to Rice Paper for a while now, and when I saw the $15 Groupon for $30 at Rice Paper, I decided to give it a go. I'm glad that I tried it, but I will not be back. The food was flavorful, but that is about all. First, I ordered the dumplings, which were fine. They were deep fried, and I don't typically think of dumplings as "deep fried". They had an interesting cranberry sauce, but the filling could have been a Ling Ling Dumpling from Costco. I also ordered a curry dish, but it was actually a noodle dish. I was expecting a bowl of curry and a side of noodles (which is how curry is served all over Southeast Asia), but I was given noodles tossed in "curry". The curry was very dry and not at curry-like. I also had ordered my dish with chicken, but the chicken was very very dry and wasn't very edible. My friend ordered the Chinese Pancake Wrap with the three different sauces. Again, the chicken was extremely dry. But, the sauce was flavorful. The wrap had almost no flavor, so you really need to drench it with the sauce. For the cost, Rice Paper was definitely not worth it. Thankfully, I had the Groupon.

I was excited about the new location...left quite disappointed. Here's a run down: Seated at ~6:45 pm 1) After the host gave us our water and menus, it took the waitress nearly 15 minutes to come by take our order. We started keeping time and were JUST about to get up and leave. I was not happy. Entree arrives at 7:22 pm 2) My girlfriend's dish was brought out, and I was told they "messed up" my order. It'd be a few more minutes. 3) The table seated next to us had to get up after several minutes just to ask for menus. 4) The other table next to us was audibly mentioning the poor service. 5) The food was good, but not worth the price tag. Final note. I won't be going back, sticking to Jasmine 26 for Vietnamese fair.

This is a really good Asian fusion (heavier on Thai and Vietnamese) restaurant. It's very healthy- my meal came with a large pile of cabbage salad. The sauces are great- especially the ginger sauce for wraps and also the spicy peanut sauce. We spent about 20-25 per person with an appetizer and no drinks after tips. The quality of food makes it worth it and we thought everything was very tasty. The service was good, and the atmosphere is classy. There was a huge group there and also a number of people on dates. It was still pretty busy on a Monday night so maybe it's good to make reservations.

So, Yelp removed my review from November, but here it is again: I don't understand why Rice Paper has so few stars! The new Edina location doesn't have as great of a vibe as the previous spot in Linden Hills, but the food is still delicious (especially the Pad Thai!!) & the staff is nice enough.

My first experience at Rice Paper was lunch on Saturday. We had the dragon dumplings, miso shrimp, small Delta bowl, and the beef lettuce wraps and all of it was very good. The service was prompt and friendly. I would defnitely go back again based on the experience that I had.

Good food but they should crab cakes on the menu to match the service. Kids are not welcome, in spite of having a kids menu. No high chairs or booster seats. Delivered the check before asking about dessert, scowled at us when leaving and we weren't too surprised to find the dining room empty with lines out the door at every other 50th & France dining establishment.

overpriced (or the right price for the people of edina) for crappy food. go to a more authentic place for more reasonable price.

Rice Paper has some of the most beautifully plated food and exquisite blossoming tea that I have seen but its aesthetics are far more impressive than its flavors and value. We started the meal with tofu spring rolls which were heavy on the rice noodles and lighter on the more flavorful components. Nonetheless, the rolls were fresh and tasty with the peanut dipping sauce. My dining companion first ordered the plantation chicken but they weren't serving it that day so he chose the tamarind rice trio with chicken. I ordered the roadhouse smoky plate with tofu. Both plates were elegantly composed but were largely white rice and lettuce/cabbage. The menu described the tofu as grilled, which I found appealing, but it resembled fried tofu more than any grilled tofu I have eaten previously. My food was adequate but it lacked the profusion of flavor and complexity that I expect from Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. I appreciated the pretty carrots but would have appreciated richer flavor even more - especially considering the cost.

Sorry, Rice Paper. I wanted to love you. I gave you the benefit of the doubt after the horrible service the first weekend you opened, but it's been a long time and my experience yesterday was no better. Food is only okay, and definitely not worth the price.

My wife and I took take out from Rice Paper about a week ago. The food was fantastic and we really appreciate having great food, especially when it's take out. The flavors were there and the online menu represented what we ordered very well. We used to live in Minneapolis and now live out of state, we mis small places like this for convenience. Great job!

i almost don't want to leave a great review for rice paper because I want it to remain my local secret, but i also don't want them to close! I love this food because delicious, healthy not fried food is hard to come by in minneapolis. My one gripe is the prices, they could lower them JUST a bit and I would get take out here weekly! Delicious food!

I was pretty excited to go back here since it reopened in a new location, but was not as impressed as I was at the old Linden Hills location. For one, the ambience definitely has more '50th and France' vibe. We had the crispy tofu puffs appetizer. The tofu was delicious, but the sauce was a little too jelly-like and sour. The main dishes came out they seemed pretty cold. We asked our waiter if they were supposed to be that way, and he said yes, but it still was a little bit too cold for me. I miss the old Rice Paper!

The food is great, great location. The food was fresh, light and very flavorful. Although, you can get the same meal on eat street for 1/2 the cost. You're paying for the location. If you're getting an entree for lunch, be prepared to pay $12-$16 pp. Very important note: not baby/toodler friendly. They do NOT have highchairs, so I asked to sit in a booth. I was then discouraged because of the paper decorations by the windows. My friend ordered chicken noodle soup off of the kids menu for her 4 yr old toddler, and the bowl was in a big glass 12" bowl. They did have bendable strings for kids to play with in the meantime.

Third meal here in the past 6 months and each time my dining companions and I come away saying how great the meal was. Last night was no exception. Both appetizers shared at the table - spring rolls (tofu) and grapefruit/shrimp - were delectable. The grapefruit/shrimp medley was especially delightful - unusual but perfect mix of flavors and textures. I had the green onion Chinese pancakes with chicken and 3 dipping sauces - another masterful combination of flavors and textures. My companions had the Mekong entree (chicken and shrimp) and they both raved. All 3 entrees were generous portion sizes. The petite chocolate mousse was a perfect finish. Very good wine list with selections you don't typically see - the Fattori Sauvignon Blanc from Italy was outstanding. And, good value, too. The only thing that prevents it being 5 stars for me is the service, while definitely friendly, got delayed from time to time during the meal. I must say, I'm surprised at the negative reviews as we'll be regular customers here and I think it ranks with any Asian restaurants in the Twin Cities.

They should be opening soon in Edina, the sign say summer opening but I guess its going to be longer. This is one of my favorite restaurants, My husband thinks their food is bland and boring and wont go with me. I go anyway, lots!. I think they have the best summer rolls I have ever had and I love the Tamarind Rice Trio. Their food is not your ordinary Thai, which means its NOT oversweet, oversalty, over fish sauced, over shrimppasted! Its clean fresh Thai food and the best peanut sauce ever. I also like that they dont have 500 dishes on the menu like most thai places.

  • Sarah S.

The only reason they got 2 stars was becaue the food was OK. Once we were seated (by a snotty hostess) we waited, and waited, and waited some more. Another hostess had to come and re-fill our waters before a server ever got to our table! We noticed there were two hosts and 2 servers and we wondered why they didn't have 3 servers and one host??? The food was fine once we got it, but fine is the best I will give it.

We got take out from Rice Paper on my trip to Minneapolis, and it didn't hurt that I got to eat it with great friends on a comfy couch with the pre-selected alcoholic beverage of my choice. And I will also be quick to point out that the ingredients were all fresh, and the portions were a good size. But I was not wowed. I got the Plantation Bowl with chicken and rice, and I felt the dish didn't come together for me. The menu touts the dish comes simmered in a lemongrass-coconut-pineapple and green curry sauce...but I didn't seem to taste any of that, save for a mild and weak green curry. I have to say, what saved Rice Paper from a 2 star review for me was trying my friend's dish. She got the Twirling Chopsticks Noodle bowl with tofu, which had a spicy, tangy peanut sauce. I was happy she gave me her leftovers, so I actually finished dinner feeling somewhat satisfied. Maybe it's a lesson to be learned. Don't pick the $11 entree if everything else on the menu is $16+. I felt like what we got for the price wasn't 100% worth it, but I would give the noodles and peanut sauce a go if you've decided to try it.

A little hard to find, but once you have, you'll need to be dragged out - this place is great. From the classy flatware, to the cute design and the chic dishes, it was fabulous. We started with the spring rolls which were rolled in the sticky rice paper and stuffed with chicken (or tofu/shrimp), bean sprouts, carrots and cilantro and served with their housemade peanut sauce, which thank GOD is for sale! The ingredients were so crunchy and fresh it was just awesome. I got the Tamarind rice trio and chose chicken. It was served with three piles of rice, each with a different sauce and topping. First was chive/onion, second was coconut and third was peanut sauce. The chicken was blackened which I love, and doused in a tamarind sauce. I absolutely loved it. It was very sweet overall, so I added some sriracha and it kicked up the flavor and spice to my liking. I cannot wait to go back and try every single other thing on this awesome menu.

Okay, how do they cut those cute little flowers out of carrots??? I had a Groupon and really have bene wanting to try Rice Paper. They used to be in Linden Hills, but moved over to a neighborhood more suited to what they offer. I was torn between starting off with dumplings and the spring roll. I'm glad we opted for the spring roll, because they were flying out of the kitchen. The peanut sauce was great. For my entree, I chose the Perfume River invitation, made with chicken with baby bok choy, jasmine rice, ginger sauce, and crispy wonton chips. I could have been satisfied with the baby bok and jasmine rice alone. The chicken was a little salty and tough, and the knives were more dull than the Presidential primaries. The other thing that made me feel a bit uncomfortable was the Proprietress hovered around the dining room too much. I wasn't sure if she was bored or didn't trust her staff. Would I go back and recommend Rice Paper? Yes. Is it what I think of when I am craving Chinese food? No. That honor still goes to Hot Wok in Edina.

BEST FOOD IN THE TWIN CITIES AREA! Peanut sauce is delicious beyond belief, pancake wraps, rice plate, indochine salad, spring rolls, tofu puffs, curry, the list goes on and on. A must try for anybody who enjoys food ever. We are regulars and the staff knows us very well, so friendly and wonderful! The owner travels to Southeast Asia to bring back the latest trendy foods! Seriously I would give it a thousand stars!

I like Rice Paper, I really do, but I think this is an example of a lovely local spot being not-quite-ready-for-prime-time when they moved to 50th & France. The food is great. I love Asian fusion and this place does it really well. Ingredients are fresh and the dishes are well executed. The spring rolls are fabulous. Service, on the other hand, is not so great. This was forgivable at the old location, as it had a quaint, local vibe so you didn't mind waiting or having to track down your waitress for a refill. But they raised their prices quite a bit with the move to Edina, so now the iffy service and high prices aren't so charming. I used to enjoy takeout from the old place, but no longer do so. It's just not quite worth it anymore. I'm even making myself sad as I write this, longing for the old days when Rice Paper was a secret, fabulous little hole in the wall.

OK food, overpriced. Pleasant but slow service. Really slow. The food is Asian, supposedly, but very strange. Typical Edina, ladies who lunch.

We have been eating at the Rice Paper since it was in Linden Hills. I don't pretend to be an expert on South East Asian Food although I eat a lot of Vietnamese soup at various places but I don't believe that the food at the Rice Paper could be classified as classical South East Asian. It appears to be the chef's attempt to provide offerings based on South East Asian techniques and ideas but which are unique to the restaurant. So if you go there expecting a big, inexpensive bowl of pho, you will probably be disappointed. On its own terms, I think Rice Paper is very good. They often have special spring rolls (pear for example) which are not listed on the menu. As pointed out in another review the peanut sauce is wonderful. I have always found the service to be ok. If you go there with the right set of expectations you may find it very enjoyable but somewhat expensive.

The dishes were beautifully presented but this restaurant caters to folks who have never had good Vietnamese food.

Rice Paper seems to have almost a cult following. I never ate there when they were in Linden Hills. My wife did, and she liked it. She is sensitive to cilantro, and she complained that almost everything has cilantro. Still, she raves about it. So we offered to take our daughter to the new Edina location for lunch on New Years Eve day. Like my wife said, many of the items on the menu do have cilantro. But they were very gracious about leaving it out of the items we ordered. Except for the spring roll. They said right up front that they couldn't take the cilantro out of the spring rolls. We had the daily special spring roll, made with pomegranate seeds, rice, and cilantro with a tangy Vietnamese sauce. We had another appetizer - tofu puffs. Arguably the best item we ate. And we had two entrees - Chinese pancake wraps and coconut shrimp. Everything was very light and flavorful. The sauces were extraordinary. Besides the Vietnamese sauce, they served a peanut sauce with the pancakes and a Thai sauce (which also was served on the shrimp). So if it was such a good meal, why only 4 starts instead of 5? Mainly because of value. Servings are small. That's OK. But prices were kinda high. Still, I've become a fan. We will go back.

I have to admit, I was not very optimistic after reading these reviews! But I had a really good experience at Rice Paper. I usually stay away from any Asian fusion type restaurants. I'm allergic to peas and peanuts so it makes it really difficult for me to order because I'm so limited in my options. I would say that Rice Paper had a lot of foods that were either served with peanuts on top or with peanut sauce-- probably at least 2/3 of the menu. So that narrowed down my options to about 6 entrees. We started with spring rolls and potstickers-- potstickers were amazing! Spring rolls were not as great since I couldn't dip them in the peanut sauce. Also the water is lime-water, FYI. If you think it tastes funny, that's why. I'm also pretty sure they don't serve soda here. For my entree i got the Rickshaw Noodle bowl. It was so good. ONe thing about this place, you can really taste the freshness in their dishes-- the carrots and celery in my dish were very flavorful. I could have used a bit more Sracha sauce to add some spice, but overall I was extremely pleased. It seemed that everyone in our party of 6 really enjoyed their dishes!

Just as good as the old spot. Still cozy, still yummy. Rice Paper will continue to be one of our go-to places. He had his favorite Roadside smoky plate ~ good as always. She had a new dish Soupe Tonkinoise with Tofu ~ perfect! A new favorite. Wish this place was closer to the NE, but worth the drive for good, simple, healthy Asian food. We left feeling satisfied and not greased-out. Service was attentive and good, but not intrusive. Lastly, love that they kept the mural.

I just ate at Rice Paper for the first time and it was fantastic. We used to live in Uptown and I was totally spoiled by Lotus Restaurant (4.5 stars/289 reviews). Living in St. Louis Park I couldn't find any place that even came close to the quality of their food until I ate at Rice Paper. Forget about heavy/greasy dishes - their stuff is fresh and the side sauces are great. I had the green onion Chinese pancake wraps with tofu and it was delightful - everything was super fresh and the texture and taste were perfect. If you are a vegetarian you will have a field day at Rice Paper. I've only eaten there once but I thought I was served plenty of food - perhaps I just had a more substantial dish but it was plenty for me. I can't wait to go back! Also, service was great and the place was very quite.

This place should have a secondary name or disclaimer: "ATTENTION: Vietnamese Restaurant without Beef Noodle Soup (Pho)" Yes, you've read it right: There's no Pho on the menu! There's another soup that the server said it was Pho. It have a fancy french name and is made with chicken broth and chicken or tofu - no beef! This is not your usual Vietnamese joint. It's fancy, it looks clean and modern and the server is not Asian. The food I had to have (instead of Pho) was really good and tasty (hence the 3 stars), but if you're like me and when you see a Vietnamese restaurant and think 'Pho', this is NOT YOUR PLACE!

    (3)
  • Michael G.

I had the beef wraps. They were pretty good but not very filling. The "pogada" appetizer (baby bok choy) was also good. If I had to summarize the overall experience, I'd call it a decent Asian restaurant but definitely designed to cater to Midwestern tastes. Which makes complete sense but not my cup of tea. I read the bio of the owner, a Vietnamese lady who was born in Vietnam and I respect that. A lot of "fusion" dishes, all with creative names such as the aforementioned "pogada." What brings it down to 3 stars... I'll call it 3.8, is the slowness of the service and the lack of brown rice. Who knows? Maybe it's a Midwestern thing. Which reminds me why I don't live there. If I did, I could definitely see myself coming back here probably a few times with optimism the rating would improve. And because it was the only decent sounding Asian restaurant in the Edina/Minnetonka area.

We had a good meal with fresh ingredients. The spring rolls were a good starter with the crispy tofu puffs. Didn't know what to think by the menu description, but please do not think of a crispy wonton thing, it is not that. The tea was a good quality and complimented the meal. We had Rice Paper rice plate which had good variety and taste, and the Pad Thai dish. Having eaten authentic Vietnamese dishes in dive restaurants to upscale establishments around San Francisco this place is good. You can tell the owner brought some of her Vietnamese heritage into the business and food. The atmosphere was casual and comforting. We had a great server who was busy, but made time for our questions. However, and there were two older women and we could not figure out what their roles were. Neither was the owner, and they did not serve, but only seemed to like grabbing the bills and moving people along.

Best fresh Asian food ever. My girlfriends favorite restaurant. Go with the spring rolls for sure.

  • Ashley R.

Bland, overpriced. I ordered the Monsoon Dumplings and the Mekong Encounter with shrimp. The dumplings were soggy and bland, but the sauce was good. My entrée was thoroughly disappointing however. The shrimp was rubbery and overcooked and the vegetables tasted like they had been thrown in last minute. This is far from authentic Vietnamese food. Save your money - I wish I hadn't wasted mine. I normally don't take the time to write yelp reviews, but this experience was awful.

  • Tina M.

My new "go to" restaurant. Excellent food and very friendly service. I have no idea if the food is authentic. I do know it is incredibly fresh, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The vegetables are among the freshest I have ever seen in a restaurant. No kidding.

One of my favorite restaurants for many years, even back in the old Linden Hills location, Rice Paper has never disappointed. Asian fusion at its finest, many interesting choices on the menu. Grapefruit Fiesta is my favorite salad with the most unusual spicy grapefruit I've ever had. Chose the Smoky Pot this time with crispy tofu and crunchy cabbage salad. Tofu may have been a bit over done, but I like the crunch enough to overlook the few extra seconds in the wok. 2 glasses of an Argentine Malbec was the perfect compliment. I will always return to Rice Paper.

  • Anthony M.

I tried the coconut shrimp and thought it was quite bland especially considering the high price. The salad wasn't fresh either. The salted caramel ice cream tasted like vanilla ice cream.

  • Birgen H.

Had lunch there with my mom and we were dressed casually so they seated us in the very back of the restaurant next to the bathrooms... There were plenty of open tables up front and this isn't fine dining so I thought that was pretty rude. There were ants crawling all over our table. I squashed a few with my glass; that was gross. We wanted shrimp spring rolls and they said they were out of the shrimp, but I ordered a shrimp dish so I asked what that was about and she told us the spring rolls are pre-made. I know some restaurants do that, but they HAD shrimp for my coconut shrimp (which was average) so they could have made some up for us; they're very simple. TL;DR... food's pre-made; not fresh, insects, judged our clothing. 2 stars for the coconut and peanut sauces.

  • David H.

First time here, and had a good experience. The dumpling (midnight market) appetizer that we had was cooked very well, presented nicely and tasted fantastic. We did a coconut chicken rice entree that was definitely good, but didn't knock our socks off, and a noodle dish (Chatty Bowl), which was so freaking fantastic that I will return just for that. Overall nice service and atmosphere.

  • Ben R.

I've been here a couple of times and enjoyed each of them. The food is certainly "Asian fusion," plates are not at all fried which is a relief. Portions are not particularly generous, so I wouldn't go here if I were starving. Decent wine list, waitresses were nice and attentive but didn't hover although it is a small place. Have never seen this place packed, which is nice if you want a place to eat and converse quietly.

Group of 6 of us met at Rice Paper looking for good food and an atmosphere that would allow us to talk and catch up without shouting at one another. Good choice. Started with a few appetizers -- spring roll special, grapefruit festivity, and firecracker dumplings. We had to kind of cut them up to serve 6, but it was worth the effort. I highly recommend the grapefruit festivity. Very similar to Thai Yam Som O, Really makes the grapefruit delicious. We each ordered an entree ranging from Green Onion Chinese Pancake wraps to the Rice Plate to JapChae to the Perfume River Invitation. All very well presented and all pronounced a hit on the taste front. I had the JapChae with tofu. I was warned about the spice level of the dish. They shouldn't have bothered. I could taste the spice but it certainly did not overwhelm. The noodles were expertly done. Wine list is small but varied. A few sakes, including a flight. We were there pretty early -- convening at 5:30pm -- so seating was not an issue and was still not an issue when we departed at 7:15pm. No room for desserts so no comments there. Service is okay, very pleasant but not too enthusiastic or, well, motivated. I mean our water glasses were well tended, our food was promptly and correctly delivered. But the pace was....very relaxed. Not a complaint, just something to be aware of if you are in any kind of a hurry. I enjoyed the food and the wine. The atmosphere was what we wanted for a group of friends who don't see each other all that much. So it was a very enjoyable experience.

Yes, I get that this place isn't truly "authentic" vietnamese food. And yes, I get that they are a little overpriced. However, I don't get why Rice Paper only has 3 stars. Came here with a friend for dinner on Sat. at 6:30 ish and were seated right away with prompt service. Although our server was on the rude side, it wasn't enough to ruin our experience. My friend ordered the pad thai and I decided on the Morning Market Noodles and chose tofu as my protein (my friend told me how good their tofu is). Food came out at a timely manner and I really enjoyed my dish. I liked how the spicy garlic sauce came on the side so I could choose how saucy I wanted my noodles to be. The noodles looked like ramen, but with the sauce and basil and not to mention delicious and crispy tofu all eaten together, the dish tasted good. It wasn't the best plate of noodles I'd ever eaten and definitely not what I'd consider authentic vietnamese, but it was enough to fill me up and satisfy my noodle craving. To give them some credit, their restaurant description is "asian FUSION" afterall... Overall I would return again if I ever just wanted some asian fusion food and to catch up with some friends, although I wouldn't want to regularly shell out $17 on a noodle dish.

Excellent experience. I'm so happy I brought my wife here for her BD. The wait staff was very kind and the food was outstanding. Very fresh and the peanut sauce is fantastic. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere and cute patio. Spring rolls were plain, mostly just rice noodles. Tofupuffs we're just fried tofu topped with a jarred sauce. Pad Thai was cold, more rice noodles stuck together with same fried tofu on the side. Great presentation, but I make better food at home.

I've always had pretty good experiences at Rice Paper; went there again two nights ago. Sat in the back hallway for the first time and it was pleasant for private conversation. The menu is nice but largely consists of different variations on the same themes. We had the Rice Plate and Echo of the Tropics. Both were tasty and presentation was beautiful. Wine list is pretty limited if you just want a glass; most are available by the bottle only. Just about all items on the menu can be made with tofu - and they do a great job with the tofu! - so vegetarians can visit without fear. We had good service throughout, attentive and considerate. The only potential negative was that our server accidentally threw out our leftovers -- but we didn't know about that until she returned with an entirely freshly-prepared dish, all wrapped up for take-home, so we were more than happy!

  • Nancy R.

The food is very fresh but pretty tasteless. They know how to present the food well, but the portions for the money are quite little for what you get. Even the spring rolls weren't that good. I went with 2 other friends that felt the same way. There are plenty of good restaurants, this is just not one of them.

  • Da M.

Sorry, but no cigar. Not even close. I had a craving for Bun Thit Nuong, a Vietnamese rice noodle salad topped, typically, with BBQ pork. For $20, I got 6 BURNT (as in, black on bottom) veggie dumplings, and their version of bun was rice noodles over a bed of romaine topped with dry, salty chicken. Nope, nope, nope. This upscale-ish place could learn a lot from a traditional, Mom-n-Pop hole-in-the-wall. Would not return unless in a major pinch.

I wish this restaurant was closer to where I lived! But still, the drive to Edina is worth it for this flavorful, healthy and inventive cuisine. I love that just about everything on the menu can be made vegetarian, though it makes for some tough decision-making when it comes time to order. I've sampled quite a few dishes in the two times I have been there now. The food was very fresh and the flavors came alive in my mouth. I particularly liked the New Moon Tofu appetizer and the Roadside Smoky Plate. The Mi Kho appetizer was very good with its thai basil pesto. And definitely get the coconut ice cream. Yum! Also, I was very pleased with the service and enjoyed the decor.

Visited Rice Paper on a Wednesday in September. Great weather, so my guest and I sat outside on the patio. Here are my thoughts: 1. Service was great. Very personable and patient with me (I arrived nearly an hour early and worked on my laptop as well as took calls) 2. Food was delish! We ordered the spring rolls (I'm fairly sure the peanut sauce couldn't have been more delish) and mango sticky rice which was amazing 3. I wasn't a huge fan of the small side of soup (Delta bowl) Would definitely go back!

Ambiance meh/blah inside. Food ok but nothing to go back for. Sorry~ The one I dined with couldn't finish the meal because the tofu was so full of grease every time he bit into it I'm guessing my meal was supposed to be cold even though the menu did not state as such. Nothing amazing to be sure. Bummer. Really was looking forward to a good meal experience.

I just noticed that my earlier Rice Paper review didn't carry over to this site when they changed locations. I am surprised and dismayed by the negative reviews of RP. I ADORE this place - so much so that they know my name and order. I am obviously a very frequent visitor! The service couldn't possibly be friendlier or more attentive. The food is downright amazing. My favorite is the Green Onion Chinese Pancake Wraps with tofu. YUM! Their veggies are so fresh, the tofu is puffy and crispy and the peanut sauce is to die for. All of their entrees are vibrant and filled with veggies and fresh herbs, and I have never had a dish here I didn't like. The new space is very bright and open. I like the 50th and France location so you can do a little shopping before or after your meal. It's also a great post-movie dinner spot if you catch a flick at the Edina theater. They have added some spritzer type cocktails to their menu, and they are so crisp and delicious. They also have a nice little wine list, sake and some choice beers on available. Really, I can't think of a single thing not to LOVE about RP!

Rice Paper Restaurant is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. It is by far the best fried tofu I have ever had. The only other place that has come close was in Tru Thai in Quebec. Their sauces are wonderful and you never leave feeling stuffed. I would highly recommend the tofu puffs, any of the special spring rolls (pear, mango and pomegranate are my favorite), Grapefruit festivity (a shrimp and grapefruit salad with crispy onions and peanuts over it), Imperial City rice (this is appetizer on their menu but really should be a dessert... rice with toasted coconut and mango on it) and my new favorites the Delta cup (a light, yet spicy soup) and the Echo of the tropics with Tofu. Who knew a salad of mango and cucumber could taste so good (and good for you). The service is great. The new space is warm and sophisticated. The parking is also very easy now that they moved. I would highly recommend to anyone!!!
