This is generally my go-to for a large, fresh, salad. I get the fattoush and add chicken tawook. The portions are generous and the chicken is really tender and flavorful. You can see it rotating on the stick in the back and them slice it right off the bone. The fried pita is perfectly crisp and add a nice texture to the salad. The dressing is drinkable by the glassful and the garlic sauce is the perfect consistency. I always get an extra one for dipping my pita bread. They give you a huge amount of rice with slivered almonds, which is a nice complement to the salad. They also give you tons of pita bread. It's the thin kind which is good for soaking up all the dressing and garlic sauce. The chicken shawarma is a pretty tasty as a meat option. The pickles and garlic sauce really help the flavors meld well. As a vegetarian option, I tried the eggplant with potato based on a recommendation and it wasn't my favorite. They used to have seasoned french fries which were pretty tasty but they stopped carrying those and started carrying the standard french fries which was kinda disappointing. The decor and ambiance could benefit from some improvements. It can feel a little grim. Sometimes there is a wait even when you call and order ahead. They could be better with that. I'm forgiving though because I can generally count on consistently, good food for a good value. If you're in the area and in the mood for some Mediterranean food, you should give them a try.

on a recent visit to ann arbor, we stopped here. my husband had eatern here on a previous visit and raved about it. so maybe my expectations were built up, but i was a little disappointed. it just didnt look clean to me. he had chicken schwarma and i had combination plate. my rice was almost cold. it was just ok. for dessert i got some baklava. the pieces were tiny. but they only cost $1.50 apiece, i guess i could have ordered more to make up for the small size.

One of my favs. The chicken fattoush salad is big enough for two people. They have large or small shawarma sandwiches. The large is big enough for two people but it's so good, you will not want to share. The sauce is a little too heavy for me so I always request light sauce. Everything from the salads to appetizers are good. They ambience is not great. The place could be updated but the food and service makes up for it.

So cheap yet so good! Cauliflower never tasted so heavenly.

Pita Pita never disappoints. I have dined in, carried out and ordered catering multiple times over several years and it's always consistent. You get a lot of food for what you pay and the quality is always great. I highly recommend the lentil soup which is utterly addictive. Staff are always friendly, as well.

Had a less than stellar experience here for lunch yesterday. The Lentil soup was so salty it was hard to eat. The server was preoccupied with his cellphone even while preparing food. The place seems generally not clean...kinda grungy. I have had good food here in the past so will perhaps give them another try somewhere down the road.

Love this place if you're in the mood for Mediterranean food this place does not disappoint ..... They have everything from chicken to kebabs at a good price beats the heck out of McDonald's....had a grilled chicken fattoush today it was on point the only problem is keeping ur co-workers away from ur food lol

Stopped in for quick take out. Cashier was friendly. Ordered the chicken shawarma and spicy eggplant wrap which came out in about 5 minutes. Both were excellent, however if you're a fan of eggplant the spicy eggplant wrap is amazing. It's got roasted spicy eggplant, rice, parsley, and garlic sauce. Awesome. Looks a little old and divey but hey, some of the best food is in dives.

My local go-to for the best fattoush chicken Shwarma around-packed with chicken, tomatoes, cucumbers, dressing and pita chips-don't forget to ask for extra garlic (love, love, love!). Skip the pita bread though-dry, blah-yuck.

Yummmm! Pita pita is a cute small place with delicious food and great prices! Highly recommend!

My family used to go here regularly, at some point the food got extremely inconsistent. I have met two people that are former employees (worked there two weeks or less). I guess they have a lot of former employees walking around. One of them said don't eat there that they have really bad practices, the other just said the management was stifling and disorganized. The real kicker is that I still go there every once in a while to get a falafel sandwich, maybe 4 times a year. I've had good experiences with the falafel sandwiches. You can't pay with credit for orders less than $10. I would give it three stars if I felt I could safely order anything on the menu at any time and get something worth eating.

Best customer service ever, friendly staff and great food , i would like to come here over and over again every timei am Ypsi-ann arbor area, best in town

The fried cauliflower sandwich - dear lord it is good. I also recommend the stuffed lamb with the cinnamon brown rice. The only thing I recommend against is the chicken shawarma, which is really dry. See if you can substitute the charbroiled chicken in the shawarma items, and you'll be all set. The service can be iffy. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's bad, but I always come back for the food.

You would think that a place named Pita Pita would have nice fresh homemade ready-made pita, but that was not the case. The pita arrived wrapped in a plastic bag as if they had it mail ordered from another county. This seemed very odd. The pita was ice cold, tough and not very fresh. The service was okay but nothing special. We went with a large group of people and the overall sentiment was "Meh' okay but nothing special. The deboned whole chicken was flavorful but a little overcooked and the gyro wraps tasted like they were on the spit for a little too long. It didn't taste fresh. We all loved the hummus and baba ganoush apps and the dessert was also good. Prices were very affordable but I would not go back and hopefully, I will never be in Ypsilanti again.

This is definitely one of my favorite places to pick up dinner. Food is very reasonable and pretty consistently tasty. I am a sucker for fattoush and anything involving fried cauliflower, and whatever you order, they give you plenty of pita to go with (which is especially important on the days when the lentil soup turns out a bit too salty). On the few occasions I've eaten in, service has been fine, although admittedly, I usually just get take out.

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. The service was fast and efficient, and the food was wonderful. 4 because of the ambiance...place feels a bit dingy, but I recommend this place readily.

I have placed many to go orders for a grilled chicken pita...until they started going downhill. The chicken would come out burnt, other times...it wasnt cut, it was just getting careless. They go through so many workers. Its rare I see a familiar face. I have seen a couple people being trained and treated poorly from someone I am assuming is the owners wife...but thats a little off topic. They recently had 7 hits from the health dept and i can only imagine what else they didnt get caught for. I probably wont be back for that reason unfortunately

    (2)
  • A. L.

I always get the chicken shawarma sandwich, a side of hummus and a fattoush salad. The food is consistently delicious and prompt. I have always had a great dine-in experience and the staff treats my toddler extra specially kind. The owner remembers your face and thanks you for repeat business.

Everything tasted great until I found FLIES IN THE PITA BREAD. So disturbing. I recommend you head over to Palm Palace instead.

Delicious food and wonderful attentive service! I had the deluxe falafel and I split an order of hummus with my husband...SO GOOD! We will definitely be going back for more.

I get to go food from here all the time. It's probably the best cheap mediterranean place around. The portions are huge. Service has always been quick and friendly. The tabouleh salad is my favorite.

  • Beth K.

Good food, but don't ever voice a complaint... or get delivery. We have ordered for the office several times from Pita Pita. The food is always good. However, when our order wasn't complete and we called to complain it was not a pleasant experience. The next time we ordered for delivery it took an hour and a half. Again, calling to ask where our order was and voice concern was not met with anything resembling good customer service.

I've been to Pita Pita a few times for hummus and pita, and it's always perfectly fine. This time, we decided to do delivery and it definitely wasn't the best experience I've had with a Mediterranean restaurant. The chicken shawarma is good. I love the pickles they use and their garlic sauce is, hands down, the best I've ever had, but the chicken itself is dry and not super seasoned. But the garlic sauce is excellent, really. It's buttery and creamy and perfect. I could eat it all day. I also tried a spinach pie. It was pretty gross. It looks like wilted spinach packed into a dinner roll. It was obviously microwaved, because the edges were so hard they had to be thrown away. The spinach pie had nothing in it but spinach, no feta, no seasonings. Just a thin layer of spinach surrounded by a thick layer of simple white bread. And the spinach was doused in some sort of vinegar. It was so sour! We couldn't finish it. The delivery was also expensive. We live within a mile of the restaurant, and it was four dollars. The delivery girl was super nice, however. I don't think Pita Pita is bad (except for the spinach pie,) but there are other places in the area with better prices and food, to be frank.

We love this place. We always order the platter for two, and there are always leftovers. In fact we've gone in with four people, ordered the platter for three and had leftovers. Highlights of the platter are the kefta, falafel, and the kebabs. Get the fattoush salad. Their baklava is the best we've had in Ann Arbor, better than Zingerman's and Haifa. My only complaint is that I think their grilled chicken is a little dry, but there is so much else that is great, you barely notice it. Dirt cheap, big portions, tasty, and they deliver. What's not to like?

  • Crystal K.

Horrible customer service. I was sent the wrong order as the person taking calls wasn't familiar with the menu. They called me back twice, translating through a third party as I spoke, as if it my request to send what I paid for was unreasonable. 45 minutes later i still had nothing and called back at which point, the chef got on the phone shouting at me and insisting there was little difference between what I ordered and what they sent. Really unfortunate that they have no concept of how to treat customers. I used to order frequently but myself and my coworkers will never order again. They should have apologized for their error and send the correct item over. Just unbelievable!

Pita Pita is where it's at! I've recently discovered a deep love of all Mediterranean foods and I've always been lazy/cheap, so delivery from Pita Pita is pure win. My personal favourites are the karnabeet, the vegetarian platter for two, and chicken shwarma. First of all, they should rename the vegetarian platter for two 'the vegetarian platter for two...days.' Between myself and the hair monster (Dan) it takes two days of solid noshing to whittle that bad boy down to an empty tray. It comes with creamy, deliciously garlicky hummus, tons of lentils and rice (Mjaddera), Baba Ghannuje (not my fave, but a valiant effort), Grape Leaves, cauliflower and Falafel. Genius! I'm too picky and easily overwhelmed at restaurants where the smells are enticing and the menu is large. Thank goodness they took all their best (in my opinion) and literally threw it into a huge tray for me and mine to retreat to our natural habitat and devour it where nobody can judge us. Karnabeet. Have mercy. It's cauliflower sauteed in tahini and parsley and it's indescribable. My mouth is watering as I'm trying to conjure the proper adjectives to describe it. It's crispy on the top with a ridiculous flavor kick. Just find a way to eat it, and make it happen. As much as I hate pickles, I happen to live with a great lover of shwarma, so it comes with the territory. Fear not, I have learned to love it in my own way (although sometimes I straight up remove the pickles, to be totally honest. no hate) and as far as my opinion goes, Pita Pita continues to deliver in this department as well. Dan, who loves shwarma any way you slice it, has confirmed this, in case anyone out there in yelp land thinks my hate of pickles disqualifies me from giving a truly informed review of any shwarma. The only reason I give Pita Pita 4 stars versus 5 is if you do opt for the delivery, be prepared for a little resigned sigh from whoever takes your order (they don't have delivery drivers, they pull staff from the counter to drive your order out) and a 45 - 60 minute wait, regardless of your distance from the restaurant. Whatever. Eating myself sick on creamy dreamy hummus with no pants on is worth the wait.

Hands down my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. Kamal (the guy on the sign and the owner) is awesome. I used to go there habitually while in undergrad and even now when i return to the state and eat there, he still remembers me. The food is terrific! All the sandwiches are awesome, and the garlic sauce is delicious. If you have a couple friends and like to share, don't be afraid of the platter for 2 or 3. The Pita Pita Smoothies are sensational, and the hummus is authentic and amazing. A large shawarma is only $4.95 and is a meal in itself. My stand-by, go-to, guaranteed good time meal is the Riz Beldajaj, a Pita Pita smoothie, and a small hummus. Unfortunately you cant smoke hooka and eat there any more, but those were the days.

I am torn between a three and a four for here. When its on its pretty darned good. When its not it is a bit disappointing. I think some things could be kicked up a notch as occasionally this place trends a bit bland. The pluses: Big sharable portions Hassle free carry out The veggie plate Delicious sujok Quite decent kafta Good hummus with olive oil drizzle. Great garlic sauce (I'll be honest though I have yet to meet a garlic sauce that did not make me happy, and hopefully I never will.) The minuses: The pita- for a place calling themselves pita pita it's kind of pathetic really. The schwarma- I have had dry more than once, not my idea of happiness. Salads can be bogged down in dressing (solve this by asking for it on the side, sometimes I forget though and it can be wilty salad soup- ugh). Sandwiches are good but come on the sometimes iffy pita bread, which can wreck them obviously. Soups vary in thickness, when they are thick it's happiness, the thin can suck as they seem much less flavorful to boot. Ultimately I will have to give it the three, I really hate the inconsistency here. It makes me hesitate to give it an awesome recommend to friends.

Ok, I'm giving them some love. The fresh carrot juice just got me. Then there's the Greek Salad with Chicken Schwarma, pure bliss. Note: they make the chicken schwarma from chicken breast not dark meat which most places use, but this is why I think sometimes it's found to be a bit dry. Just dip into the garlic sauce and it's fine. My husband swears by the lemon rice soup. I have to admit it looks llike homemade goodness in a bowl. The staff is always friendly and the food comes up fast. Baklava can be purchased in a gift box at the counter and it's reminiscent of Shatila. We find ourselfs driving less into Dearborn these days and just making tracks to Pita Pita.

Pita Pita, the diner of Middle Eastern restaurants. As a vegan, and hailing from the Detroit/Dearborn area, I'm a big fan of ethnic food, and most especially Middle Eastern food. Don't mistake my calling this "the diner" for a negative comment - oftentimes, the little "hole in the wall" places are the best anyway. Pita Pita is cheap and tasty, with a wide variety of vegan dishes - ranging from their sprawling appetizers (grape leaves, baba/hummus, vegetarian green beans) and salads (tabbouleh, fattoush) to the sandwiches (falafel deluxe, spicy eggplant minus garlic sauce) and entrees (moussaka, mujaddara) - as well as an even larger selection of non-veg dishes ---which I haven't tried but my many visiting companions have complimented. The food is a bit inconsistent but overall the experience is enjoyable. The servers are nice, generally the same handful of faces, which is nice. Palm Palace down the road provides a higher quality experience, but you're also going to be paying a fair amount more for it. All in all, I've been many times and I will be for many times more, yet.

I ordered for delivery. The service was quick and prompted but food didn't measure up to other Yelper's review. Because the minimum order for delivery was $20, I ordered large grape leave with beef and fattoush shawarma chicken salad. To my disappointment, the salad was way too sour. To give them credit, the salad was tossed which is rare to find, but because the dressing wasn't good, now I have a gigantic bowl of uneatable vegetable.. The grape leave dish was better. I liked that they were still warm, but stuffing was very bland. Then I realized that they added $5 for delivery charge without telling me. I wished I would have known how much the delivery was. So I ended up spending $30 for a dinner that wasn't even good :( . Could have went out for fancy dinning...

Incredible place. I like restaurants that are one of a kind, and Pita Pita is one of a kind! It is slightly hidden because it is so small, but really not hard to locate. Many of my Ypsi-Arbor friends frequent Pita Pita as a place to hang out after a day at work. I've had the chicken shawarma, chicken kafta, hummus, and a few of those vegetarian options. Always delicious. I find it hard to pass up items that I've had before to try new things, but I do and haven't had anything yet that I haven't loved. Do yourself a favor, and avoid chain restaurants and take a chance on small places like this!

Ordered the boneless chicken and Fattoush salad. 1 small piece of chicken and a long blonde hair imbedded deep in my salad! I will never eat there again! Gross!

Best middle eastern restaurant I've eaten at and I try to stop at them throughout michigan. SUper fresh tasting hummous, great salads, GREAT smoothies, great baklava, friendly staff, easy to get in and out...though maybe not the parking lot.

  • Patrick T.

This has really good Arabic food without you having to drive all the way to Dearborn. I like the stuffed lamb a lot. Beautifully cooked lamb that melts in your mouth on top of rice, topped with sliced almonds. Delicious. And enough food for two or three meals. The lemon pepper chicken is pretty good as well. They sell baklava that they got from Shatila's which is awesome, because yet again, it saves you a trip to Dearborn.

I have dined here often and always enjoyed the food. I was excited to take my father for lunch and ordered a vegetarian sampler. The waiter brought us the dinner vegetarian combo plate for over double the price as we had ordered. When I mentioned this was the wrong order I was treated very rudely and told that this is what I order...end of story !!! I I have never been treated so poorly and they should learn what customer service is!!

We eat here just about five times a week, although I bet I could probably eat there once a day. Super good!

I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing and the customer service is exceptional and everyone is very kind. They are always trying to please my taste buds every time that I arrive. Even though I typically just pick up food, the staff is always willing to talk about their food, and you can tell how much they really care about making it quality food and making sure everyone can enjoy it.

Platter for two was large and delicious. Ample Leftovers for two other meals. Everything was fresh and tasty. Loved the garlic sauce.

Amazing food at an amazing price. They give the biggest portions of any restaurant I've ever seen for the price. Everything tastes great and, while I'm no expert on authentic mediterranean food, I was really impressed. The quality of the ingredients is somewhat suspect, but if you want a lot of tasty food, this is your place.

I have eaten previously at pita pita, but decided to end my 2+years hiatus from this place. Had Three sandwiches from there Shish Tawook (the best from this place and it is really really good), Lamb Kafta ( second best, also really good), Chicken Shawarma ( my least favorite, although i do think its good). All sandwiches here must come with extra garlic sauce (yes you got to buy it on the side, but it is very good). overall this is a pretty good place, the only thing I'm not a fan of here is the sides, i just think there not good ( had the dirty rice and fries=not good). However everything else is pretty good.

  • David S.

Best Mediterranean in the area bar none. I love their wraps/sandwiches. I've tried them all and can't decide on a favorite. If I had to choose one, it would be the Kafta, which is made with ground lamb...but I'll usually get what I am in the mood for at the time. Their fattoush salad is also top notch. When I get carry out from other places and want a salad, I'll stop by on my way home to pick up a small order, which they can make in a couple minutes. What I love about how they make their fattoush is they always use the right amount of dressing so that the veggies stay crisp. And they use big and crispy pita chips, that stays crispy until the very last bite. The fact that 2 mediterranean restaurants opened and closed on the same street within the last couple years should say something about their quality.

You can't beat the price ($3.75 for a falafel sandwich) or the portions. The falafel is just okay though. What to get: cauliflower sandwich. The cauliflower is sautéed with great smoky flavor and adds a crunch to the dish. My husband likes their spicy eggplant sandwich. With two small sandwiches (not sure how anyone can eat a large size), we also order a small fattoush salad (light on dressing and toasted pita chips on the side or it will get very soggy!!!) to share and because it's the best here --do order the hummus. If anything, order the hummus. I'm giving it 3 stars because I like Jerusalem Garden better- their falafel, salads, desserts, lentil soup, and atmosphere. Service is fine and timely. Try the hummus!

  • Molly H.

Pita Pita is amazing. The food is fantastic and the servings are huge. The Chicken shwarma, fattoush salad and hummus are great. I've gotten the family feast for 4-6 and six adults had leftovers after eating. The owner is so kind and friendly. The restaurant is nothing great to look at, but it is well worth it for the food

The Veggie Combo for 2 - is delicious and really enough for 3 hungry people! And the lentil soup is the best in the region.

  • Bonnie A.

I love their food! The chicken kabob, fatoush salad, and (oddly enough) rice are the best reasons to keep going back. I just had their baklava for the first time today, and it was truly perfect. I keep thinking about it even hours later.... so nutty. So sweet. Sometimes the schwarma can be a little dry, but the flavor is amazing.

    (4)
  • Trina L.

This place is great! I love their Kafta sandwich. Unlike other Mediterranean places, Pita Pita actually gives you a LOT of meat when you buy a sandwich, not mostly bread like others do. So you really get your money's worth! Their hummus is great, and so is their garlic dip. I love their food.

ATTN: Vegetarians Well, this used to be one of my favorite restaurants. That is until the rude encounter I had. I ordered a vegetarian dish, as I am, according to my religion and personal beliefs a vegetarian. Upon finding meat in my dish, not only was the waitress rude (and this isn't the first time she has been so rude, either!) but so was the owner. The waitress, told me, uhm well what do you want me to do about? I got to speak to the manager who distinctly told me that it was just a piece of meat, can't I just push it over? I told him I cannot eat meat and he said that it probably just fell down from the top area with the onions, I couldn't understand him well and it seemed a bit strange that there would be such contact area, surely according to health code this isn't a fair practice. Especially for a place who advertises "vegetarian" dishes, specifically.

I've been to Pita Pita many times in 2012, and ordered carry-out from them a few times as well. The food is delicious, fresh, and service is friendly and prompt. The Shwarma Wraps are amazing, as is there hummus. I'd avoid the grape leaves, but that's just my own personal tastes. Their fruit smoothies are yummy too, I get those regularly. As a nod to their service, I was there with a friend once, and the manager came by once and gave everyone in the restaurant some baklava on the house, just because it was a holiday. Great food, and reliable service. I will continue to go here.

Great food, great prices. Never busy. I love ordering from here because their chicken is CLEAN. no fat on it or weird marks. I always order the chicken fattoush, it's AMAZING and they give you ALOT.

My boyfriend raved about this place for a while before we had the chance to go. When we finally went, I was kind of disappointed with our meals, especially given the build-up. My salad with schwarma was mediocre as was my boyfriend's chicken entree, lemon chicken I think. Yesterday, a few months after my first visit, we went back. I learned that this is the kind of place where you need to know what to order, which seems to be mainly the traditional stuff. We got the vegetarian plate for two even though we're both meat-eaters (the non veg-plate just had too much meat). The meal was incredible (see pic). Only $23 for soup or salad and a ton of food, we had plenty of leftovers. The falafel, baba, hummous and cauliflower were awesome. Ask for a side of garlic sauce for the cauliflower and you will be very happy. In general, the service is slightly slow but very pleasant. I loved that the glasses they had said "Greek Islands Coney Restaurant" on them (see pic). AND I love that Pita Pita is right across from Thai Thai and by the Putt Putt (now called Putterzzzz).

We were there for lunch, 3 adults 1 infant. We shared the Veggie Platter for 2, and added some falafal, and a fava bean and garbanzo bean dish. The food came fast, and hot and delish. I really enjoyed the fattoush salad (the dressing and spicy pita chips are flavorful). The falafel and tahini were fresh and moist. And whatever they put in the lentil and rice dish was awesome. They have Vernors Ginger Ale on tap! We spent $47 for all three with 3 sodas and some great baklava (from a bakery in Detroit). Totally worth it. It was lunch time on a Sunday, and there were 2 tables empty - I am sure that during the week that place is packed... I will be back, fer shure.

Came here with a few mates to hangout and try the Mediterranean food here. One mate ordered a beef shawarma sandwich while I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich. He liked his, as did I after he gave me some meat. My chicken shawarma sandwich was very juicy and the garlic sauce is perfect, but the chicken itself tasted bland with no flavor. Another mate came and we ordered a shish kafta entree. The entree was perfect with fries.

NEW REVIEW: My bad. Revising my previous review, changing it from a 1 star to a 4 star! I think the meal that I would always get here is awful, but once I started trying a couple of other things, I saw, they're actually not too bad! I love the lamb kafta, the falafel, and when you order fries you get a HUGE box for cheap. I would however ask them to line the box with something if you're getting it to go, because apparently they put it in SUPER hot, and it melts the Styrofoam. Yuck. Anyway, good bang for your buck. They usually have coupons in some of the ypsi coupon books that will make it even cheaper (or look online).

My family and I have picked up dinner from Pita Pita several times now. While the decor is fairly simple and mostly notable for the large collection of hookahs behind the counter, the service and food are always good. The staff have had recommendations on things to try when we've been in the mood for something different from our usual order. While we have always gotten our food to go so I don't know how the table service is, I certainly can't complain about the service at the counter. The food is quite good. The hummus is some of the best I've had, and we have been impressed with out entrees. My fiance loves their lemon pepper chicken and orders it exclusively. I currently have a minor obsession with their shish combo, which has one shish kabob, one shish tawook, and one shish kafta. They are all excellent, though the shish kabob in particular leaves me craving more just because it tastes so good. We've also tried the chicken shawarma, which has been consistently excellent, and the chicken cream chop. This last was the least successful of the things we've tried. It was good, but falls short when compared to everything else we've had so far. The dressing that comes on the salads we've gotten with our entrees has had a nice lemony tang and hit of mint. The portions are large. Our dinners provide not only dinner that night, but lunch the next day and sometimes a snack as well before we've gotten through it all. The prices are quite cheap when you consider that one entree can feed one person two or three times.

Tried here last night for the first time, and I was blown away! The kafta was amazing, the hummus was great, and the lamb shawarma was spectacular. The only thing I didn't care for was the musaka, but that's only because I'm, used to a greek musaka, not mediterran. Overall, I'll be coming back!

Hands down my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in the area. I've been to the other heavy-hitters (Haifa Falafel, Jerusalem Garden, the new Cafe Zamaan, etc) but no other restaurant can tear my heart away from this small Ypsi-Arbor establishment. I've read the other reviews, and I'm simply shocked that I've seen no mention of my favorite sandwich in town- the Riz Beldajaj. Chicken pieces, pickles, fluffy rice, and to top it off, their fantastic, flavor-packed, out-of-this world garlic sauce. It was love at first bite many years ago, and this sandwich has made me a regular. And I'm not the only one; my boyfriend, also a huge fan of Middle Eastern cuisine, can't get enough of this sandwich either. I'm beginning to wonder if they sprinkle some sort of opiate in that sauce to keep us coming back. The great prices must also be mentioned. The sandwiches come in both small ($3.75) and large ($4.95), and are huge. Why go across the street to get a $5 footlong when you can come here, spend a similar amount of money, and get a higher-quality, absolutely delicious dinner? Answer me that, fellow Yelpers! I've tried a good portion of their menu, and I've had success with an overwhelming portion of it. The only item I would never order again is the Sujok, which is a sandwich filled with Lebanese spicy sausages. Not my cup of tea. If a craving for Middle Eastern food strikes, let it run wild at Pita Pita. And take me with you!

Was in town for work, and asked a Michigan alum for recommendations. He said this place was the best in the area, and he was right! While the decor leaves a lot to be imagined, the food is fantastic and plentiful. A side of rice can feed 2-3 people, and the small Falafel sandwich was plenty for one person for lunch. Would go back again if I lived here.

I had lunch from Pita Pita today and it was really good! We ordered carry-out and I had the Hummus with Chicken Shawarma. I expected the dish to come all wrapped up like a shawarma, but I got the bread separate and the rest of my dish mixed together in a box, still it was flavorful and tasty. My dish was big and I couldn't finish it, but my co-workers sandwiches were a little small. What I really liked was the accompanying salad - The Fattoush Salad. The dressing comes mixed into the salad and is perfect. The Salad was perfectly enveloped in the dressing, not too light or too overpowering. Its fabulous value for money. I am definitely going back to Pita Pita!

Wow is this food good. I am very cheap and never NEVER go out to eat. Since finding this place I go out (and only to Pita Pita) at least once every other month. I dream about that garlic dip. I wish I could hook it up to a IV drip! Not much else to say... The food is very well priced, the food come quickly, and they can cater to large crowds.

In undergrad, I ate at Pita Pita once a week. All told, I've probably eaten there more than any other restaurant in Ypsi. Early on, it was a solid four-star experience every meal. However, over time Pita Pita has grown inconsistent. In the last three years or so I've had a fair number of sandwiches that were cold (not lukewarm, but cold) in the middle, or entrees that were over-the-top oily or generally flavorless. That said, this is still a good place to grab (very) cheap and (very) filling Middle Eastern food in Ypsi. If I had to pick a favorite dish, the colossal eggplant moussaka would be it, but the spicy eggplant sandwich, though not really spicy, is not far behind. The falafel isn't amazing (go to Haifa Falafel if that's what you're in the mood for), but the grape leaf sandwich is pretty quality. Their fattoush is pretty run-of-the-mill, but the dressing is above average--ask for it on the side or else your salad will be drenched. Overall, Pita Pita is near-great when it's on-point, but can be sub-par at times. If they were more consistent, this would be much closer to a four-star rating, but I still take the gamble when the mood strikes me.

Quick curtious service, shwarmas are delicious and im a sucker for the baklava here. If you dine in it's nice also. Ive never been there when there were more than two tavles filled at once, but there's a lot of traffic with the carryout customers. Overall a great place to go for lunch. Best place for Mediterranean food at these prices. Seriously: lunch = under 6 bucks for a small sandwich wrap but those suckers are FILLING.

This is our go-to place for a cheap and delicious meal in the Ypsi-Ann Arbor area. My boyfriend and I are there at leas 2 times a week, usually more. The food is delicious and plentiful, and the waitstaff is great. Our absolute favorites are the fattoush salad, the lentil soup, the chicken schwarma and the riz beldajaj. They have an extensive menu though, and we've tried a lot of other things that are equally delicious. The hummus and pita is always great, and everything is always fresh. The garlic sauce is AMAZING - I could literally eat it by itself with a spoon. It comes on most of the sandwiches, and is absolutely awesome. If you're looking for amazing middle eastern food (and as someone who works in Dearborn, I'm fairly familiar with middle eastern food), Pita Pita is by far the BEST you'll find in all of southeast Michigan. A must try!!!!!

Ate dinner here about 2 months ago. It was delicious. Absolutely no complaints. I just wish they had a larger delivery radius, so I could get their food at home.

I have been to MANY a Lebanese/Meditteranean restaurant throughout the metro Detroit area- (the restaurant formerly known as) La Shish in Livonia, Dearborn & Warren, one in Dearborn that was less than memorable, one in Ann Arbor that used to be a La Shish, Jerusalem Garden in Ann Arbor, anyway... you get the idea! I LOVE this style of food and could eat it every single day if I could. With that said, if I could, I would eat at Pita Pita *every single day*. Bold statement, I know. But I mean it. Lentil soup? Awesome. Hummus? Amazing. Shwarma (Lamb or Chicken)? Perfection and HUGE portions. Fattoush? Super fresh and tangy (sumac). The garlic sauce? Absolutely terrific. Lemonade is just like they used to make at La Shish, where it's more like a slushy. The staff here is also amazing- very attentive without being invasive and friendly, too. The chef/owner (who is always there-usually in the kitchen. a very good sign!) is always saying hello to patrons. I have sat down to eat here (the atmosphere in the main room is a lil bleh, but there is also a newer eating area there that I have not sat in yet) and gotten carry out, and no matter my preference of service- they always deliver quality. I would say the prices are reasonable to a tinsy bit high, but it also depends on what/how much you order. They give you a TON of pita with carry out orders. It also has a great location on Washtenaw. Half way between Ypsi and A2, I would frequently stop here either on my way to U of M or on my way home. It is easily accessible from the Washtenaw exit off 23. The only criticism I have for this restaurant is that they don't have the fresh baked pita like La Shish used to have. But other than that, this restaurant is Mediterranean food excellence. Love you, Pita Pita!

This is one of the best Middle-Eastern restaurants in the area, which is a solid statement considering how many there are. My family and I have been going to Pita Pita for about 8 years now. Kamal (the owner) has always been kind and helpful. The food is very good. I've tried many dishes, but my favorite is the Chicken Kafta, a dish many places only make with lamb. It is, in effect, ground chicken with spices placed on skewers and grilled. I find it best with a healthy portion of their excellent garlic sauce. Given a choice I will start the meal with a falafel appetizer and a bowl of lentil soup. The Falafel is some of the best I have had. It is always crispy on outside and flavorful without being grainy or overpowering. The lentil soup is generally very good, but the thickness varies which can affect my enjoyment. Unlike Palm Palace (formerly La Shish Ann Arbor) up the street, their bread does not appear to be homemade.I love bread so this is a bit of a downer for me, but I survive. Portions are substantial though I find the rice which accompanies many dishes to be bland and meh. The baklava available for dessert is decent, but not as good as some of the Dearborn bakeries or what get Ahmo's brings in each week. As an interesting note, we had Kamal put together a Thanksgiving dinner for us one year and it was fantastic. Super tasty mediterranean Turkey dinner. Who could ask for more than that? Overall very good and frequently visited by my family and our friends alike. I still owe a thank you to a former employee who introduced me this place. Maybe I'll take him to lunch...

I've been to Pita Pita several times before and it's always been ok. This last trip was much better than usual. The food was delicious and the service was really good. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma sandwich without pickles and a side of brown rice. My friend ordered the hummus app and a grilled chicken sandwich. Yum! The hummus was fresh and extra tasty with olive oil and lemon juice drizzled on it. The brown rice was hot and had great cinnamon flavor. Both of us order "small" sandwiches and they were more than enough. I must say out of all my meals at Pita Pita, this was the best!

I was skeptical to say the least. Pita pita? Sounds like bad fast food (redundant, yes). The outside looks shady, and like crap. The inside is too bright and, when I went, it was almost vacant. Then we got the food. Pita pita has some of the best middle eastern food I've had in A2, comparable to if not better than J-Garden, for one. I liked the hummus and the yogurt salad, loved the fattoush, as others have seemed to, and all of the entrees were great. I had the Stuffed Lamb with rice, which was some of the best cooked lamb I've had in a long time. So tender, so yummy. I also tried the shish combo, and approve of all parts of it, especially the steak. My friend had the chicken shwarma plate and said it was great. The baklava was, well, standard baklava, which is to say absolutely delicious, and the Turkish coffee is as good as I've had it. Yeah, we like to eat. The prices here were pretty reasonable, and the lunch sandwiches looked really cheap and are probably good as well. Check this place out, please.

For being so close to the nation's largest concentration of Arab Americans, Washtenaw County is bereft of great Middle Eastern cuisine. But If you have a heavy craving and don't want to drive to Wayne County, Pita -squared is alright. Sandwiches - the falafel is quite good (has a very pleasant minty kick), and comes topped with hummus and tabbouleh. I've also tried the eggplant and feta sandwich. Meh. Mushy. Sides - The fattoush salad was fresh but kinda bland. I was expecting more from the dressing and the pita strips were more stale than crunchy. The lentil soup was soothing on a cool night, though not enough lemon. Still, I appreciated the large serving that came with my entree. Entree - I've only tried the hummus with shawarma chicken. Hummus was creamy and well balanced but the chicken was dry and not all that flavorful. Overall, Pita Pita makes relatively healthy, well portioned food, but they majorly skimp on the spice. I get the feeling this is a cost-cutting measure in an awful economy. Bummer.

I can't say too much since I've never been there in person - but my hubby brought home one of their shwarma wraps with falafel for me one evening. It was great! Again not my Jerusalem Garden, but a great alternative for being stuck in Ypsi! We may visit it when I have time off work so I can get more into their menu and customer service!

If you judge which restaurant is a person's favorite by how often she goes there, Pita Pita is, hands-down, my favorite restaurant. Everything I've tried there, from the hummus appetizer to the fattoush to the falafel sandwiches has been delicious. The veggie plate is also good, and the sandwiches of fried cauliflower wrapped in a hot pita with tabbouli are an all-time favorite. This is a great restaurant to bring both vegetarian and meat-eaters to; they can all find something to satisfy. Personally, I haven't tried the rice pudding at Pita Pita, but I hear it's an acquired taste. The staff says they make it traditionally with rosewater. This sounds lovely in theory, but a fellow diner was overheard to say this made the pudding taste like it was tainted with dish soap. So try the rice pudding at your own risk. There are only two reasons I'm giving this restaurant four stars instead of five: 1) The ambience is nearly non-existent. Despite the display of hookahs for sale, the atmosphere is that of a generic diner for the most part, and the bathroom is a little on the grubby side. 2) We generally find the service to be acceptable-to-good, but the last two times I've been there with my husband, the service was polite but quite slow. The first time we received slow service, the staff was trying to accommodate a large party seated on the patio. The second time, I overheard the waiter say they were trying to fill 10 delivery orders, in addition to customers inside the story, with a grand total of two wait staff, one of whom was also making deliveries. For the most part, though, service is fine at Pita Pita, and the food is tasty and inexpensive. My husband and I usually end up spending less than $20 for both of us to eat there, including the tip. A bonus of eating there regularly is the staff gets to know you and treats you like family. We once brought in some relatives to eat at Pita Pita, and the staff brought us complementary slices of watermelon for dessert. They're nice folks.

Let me just chime in, and second everything good people have said about this place. The food is outstanding. The name sounds so cheesy. It reminds me of a bad mr. pita franchise. That is so not the case. The first time I went, I just got the lentil soup. It was $2.50 and was a huge cup. Not only that, it came with 4 pitas cut up and placed in sandwich bags. The lentil soup was very tasty, hot (temperature), and a little spicy. Today I had a chicken swarma sandwich. The chicken was well seasoned, and I believe there are potatoes in it. I appreciate the fact that they have two sizes of sandwiches. For 6 bucks you could get a small sandwich and cup of soup. This place has fantastic middle eastern cuisine. Do not be put off by the name.

My go-to place for Middle eastern food. There are places in AA/Ypsi that are better for particular menu items but Pita Pita is well above average across the board. As an aside, I've never traveled there but my father volunteers on an archaeological dig near the Israel/Syria border. When the dig leader was in town for a lecture I brought him along with my father here for dinner. Everybody was very, very satisfied.

the hummous and baba are very good and so are the sandwiches, which comein two sizes, small and large;) I like the shish kafta and the falafel but the shwarma is kinda dry. Service is very good.

Came up to the yp for an errand and remembered a friend recommended pita pita so I had to stop in. I ordered the riz b. Sandwich it was awesome! The combo of rice chicken pickles and garlic sauce amazing! The staff was really friendly, which is always a plus. Definitely reccomend everyone to stop in. Side note the location is pretty tricky to find atleast it was for me. But then again it was rush hour and I was concentrating on not dying. Pita pita I will dedinitely stop in next time im in the aeea!

This is some of the best Middle Eastern food you'll find out in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. We started with the appetizer sampler plate, which came with tabouleh, hummus, baba ghanoush, grape leaves, and falafel. All of these were really good and tasty, and they seemed to be pretty freshly made. I also got a chicken shawarma sandwich. This was really delicious and huge - it could definitely be an entire lunch on its own. Even more impressive, it's less than $5, so it's a lot of great food for very little money. I also got a Turkish coffee, which was good and had a nice, strongly-spiced flavor. The food is good, the service is friendly and fast, and the prices are low. What more can you ask for?

This is one of my favorite places to eat in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area. You'll find the typical Mediterranean favorites here, all prepared to be tender, flavorful and delicious. All of the food I've tried here (a substantial selection) is seasoned and spiced well. I love the hummus, the lemon chicken soup, and the shawarma. I usually get a fattoush salad because I love the crunchy pita, but their Greek salad is also delicious. And for once, I've found a place that prepares rice in a way that makes me order it over fries every time. Price-wise this place is a winner. You get at least enough food for two meals if not more. The staff can be a bit hit or miss, depending on how busy the place gets, but they're always polite.

My wife turned my onto this place since she works at the hospital down the road. The nurses all rave about the place and now I am a fan too. I am not a Mediterranean Grill person, but the hummus is to die for. I have also been told the wraps are also amazing. It is totally worth the effort to try this place!

I use to frequent this place a couple years back and the food was good. So I started going there again and the last two times my food has been horrible. The chicken shwarma sandwich consisted of a chicken breast cut into rather large chunks and then placed in a pita with large tomato chuncks and not evenly spread garlic sauce. That is NOT chicken shwarma. I don't know if they ran out of the correct meat or what but, it was so dissappointing. My fries were cold and the music in there is too loud. The customer service is ok but, the personal conversations in front of the customers concerning who likes who is child-ish and not what I want to hear while waiting for my food that I called in 20 min. ahead of time (once again all I ordered was a chicken shwarma sandwich).

I love Pita Pita! Their prices are great, the service is always friendly, and the reason I go back is the great food! I usually order a side of hummus every time I go there. I could make hummus at home but it's just not the same as when Pita Pita makes it. You get A LOT for what you pay, plus they give you a bunch of extra pita bread just in case. I'm a vegetarian (well, pescatarian currently) so I usually order their sandwiches. They come in two sizes. You might as well get the larger size since it's usually double the size and only a buck more expensive. I usually get either the falafel sandwich or the cauliflower and potato sandwich. Both are amazing, except for this one time they used french fries instead of the potatoes. Who runs out of potatoes and doesn't just hop across the street and grab some at the supermarket!? Anyway, I didn't let that experience bother me since the french fries actually didn't taste half bad. The reason I love Pita Pita is the overall experience, not just the cheap food. They are consistent (since I go there about once a week), and they are friendly. Thanks Pita Pita!

Haifa Falafel is my favorite place to get a Middle Eastern bite to eat but Pita Pita is always busy and is my wife's favorite. They do make an amazing garlic dip. My usual route is to order take out from here with my wife's order + garlic dip + amazing huge side or rice then get my falafel at Haifal's. Its a short trip and everyone is happy.

so exceeded my expectations! and SO much food... my sweetie and I went in and shared: sujok-amazing. flavorful & rich split pea soup [with the impending dinner entree] super amazing (also delicious spooned over the sujok on pita- perhaps not in any way traditional but tasty nonetheless) shish combo- juicy juicy beef, incredible lamb, delectable chicken; the rice & vegetables were flavorful, fresh. cauliflower & potato sandwich- crispy potato & cauliflower, just yummy! we took most of it home ;) and I'm looking forward to leftover sujok with eggs in a few minutes here... mmmm.

Decent prices and tasty food. I get their food catered for many lunch meetings at work and it's the most cost effective crowd pleasing lunch (besides pizza). The quality of the food could be better. The chicken shwarma (sp?) can be dry but it's still good.

  • Erin G.

Uh-mazing. Their platters are great, you get to sample everything and it's a great price. We usually get the combination platter for two, which is a bit more than $10 a person, but you have leftovers. It comes with pitas, hummus, several meats (kafta, shwarma, kababs, other things I can't remember the name of but that are delicious...), falafel, stuffed grape leaves, etc. I think it comes with soup or salad...none of which have impressed me, but that's not what I go for. This is my favorite restaurant in the area with this type of food, and it's affordable which is great too.

  • Celeste J.

Indescribably delicious middle eastern food and loads of scrumptious vegetarian options. I'm always shocked by the generous portions sizes and love that I get leftovers the next day. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality, and if you get takeout, it's just as cheap and better for you than any fast food place along Washtenaw. Highly recommend: Hummus, lentil soup, eggplant sandwich, vegetarian green beans and the baklava.

I hate to do this. Really, I do. Seriously. But the last few times I've had take out, the food was ok. Maybe they're distracted by the hut that's being built in their parking lot? Or they have a new chef who doesn't quite understand you shouldn't have a wad of seasoning in the middle of a sandwich. Makes it dry.

  • Deena S.

I LOVE this place- my fave restaurant in Ypsi. SO inexpensive and we usually get three meal's worth each out of what we order. Service is great with nice people. Hummus tastes different from time to time but overall awesome. The only thing is don't get delivery from them- it costs sooo much money. You pay a delivery fee, plus tax, plus a tip separate from that fee. We usually end up paying out $8 more than we would otherwise for a two-person meal. And, they're not so equipped for delivery so they don't do it well or smoothly.

cheesygrapes.blogspot.co… Best Mediterranean. They give very generous portions and the food is amazing. My wife and I love to order the hummus, pita salad, chicken shawarma, eggplant sandwich. My colleagues and I love to order from Pita Pita because they DELIVER too! =) Please read my review (link above). Thank you! Leo C.
