You get what you pay for and this is a coney island not an upscale restaurant. But, it is my "go to" standby for a quick and a real food breakfast. Today the food arrived lightning fast. Breakfast is always consistently good, tasty and the coffee hot. Today's staff was pleasant and attentive. Actually there appeared to be an over staffing situation today. My only complaint is that the flat screens are no longer operational.

My favorite greasy spoon in the area after Big Moe's closed. This place really hits the spot on the morning after with heaping amounts of tasty typical coney island fare for a good price. I really enjoy the waitstaff here as well - they get the food out in good time and are always really friendly. The omelettes are ginormous and could easily feed a family of four - I suggest these only to those who are either sharing or gastronomic daredevils (you know who you are). All in all, Lucas is good, cheap, and reliable. I can't ask for much more in a classic Coney Island.

Maybe throw in another 1/2 star, because this place is a bit better than your run of the mill coney. We went here because of an issue with our normal Sunday morning breakfast spot. It's not a bad way to go. The food is decent and the portions are not American sized, so there's little wasted or waisted. Service is good and the place itself is clean. My spinach omelette was pretty good. Cheese is an additional expanse for omelettes, but not prohibitively so. The onions and tomatoes were included. Hash browns and toast were part of the meal. My SO seemed to enjoy her Farmer's omelette. Coffee was decent. You're not going to go very much wrong here.

When I visited this Coney Island I enjoyed my meal because they had great service and the place a nice atmosphere.

My favorite breakfast in Ypsilanti! The servers know my usual order, and are surprised when I throw them a curve. Great value for your money.

been here several times and thought i would give it a shot. The waitresses here are "out to lunch" so to speak. The service tends to be very slow as they socialize or run sidework while your food sits in the window dying. Potentially a good restaurant if the choices or extras were explained better. They are not. I tend to tip the waitress that is NOT servicing me cause its usually the only one available at that moment. Thanks but no thanks

Coneys are dreamy! Atmosphere feels cramped. Customer service is lovely! I would go to other coney islands first - but 24 hours on Washtenaw is prime real estate. Coneys in Flint and Detroit are better - but this is a start.

Service was lacking. Apparently, you're supposed to seat yourselves. First time being here, I had no clue so I stood around for 5-10 minutes looking stupid. At least 3 waitresses walked by me and greeted me but that was about it. Finally I asked to be seated and was told to sit anywhere. From being seated to finally getting a menu and getting my drink (water and coffee) and ordering took a while. The waitress assigned to me was way too busy talking with other patrons, even sitting in a booth to carry on a long conversation. The food though was pretty darn good. So even with the crappy service, I'd probably go back. A Greek Omelet with hash brown for under $6? What a deal! I asked for double gyro meat for $4 extra. The menu is pretty extensive so even the picky eaters should be able to find something to their liking.

Only been here for breakfast, which is great, a dozen or so times. Located in a working-class part of town and that's mostly who patronizes this place. It's your typical midwestern greasy American diner servin up decent food at decent prices. Friendly waitstaff.

Typical coney fare. Excellent chicken lemon rice soup. The coney dogs were ok and the fries were good. Good portions.

This is my old standby, and it's even better now that it's smokefree! Great breakfasts (try the Greek omelette) and super-friendly atmosphere.

I went to lucas when it first opened, so that might have been one of the reasons that the service and food were so bad. Seriously. It took us almost an hour to get our food, the waitress had no clue what she was doing (I only got one coffee refill during that waiting time) and when the food finally came, it was completely underwhelming. There are a lot of other good coneys to go to in ypsilanti. Go to abe's or moe's. Seriously. Much better.
