Yes, I am a fan and I will tell you why. Normally I have been here for breakfast, ordering the Farmers Omelet which is delish. But, last evening we were here for dinner. Horiffic, busy day at work and needed to do some things afterwards. I was famished, he was famished, so we said let's eat out somewhere. Suddenly, at the stoplight we both saw their sign. After a peruse of the menu we both ordered the Thanskgiving Feast. This includes sliced turkey (real turkey not pressed), dressing, gravy, corn and a spot of cranberry sauce. Total and tasty comfort food. Attentive, friendly staff. No disappointment here!

So I think I understand why there are complaints about the service at Harvest Moon Café. It seems they purposefully understaff the wait staff, to enable those on shift to make a little more cash. It's not a terrible problem, but it can lead to just a bit of a wait on service, and some of the waitresses getting that 1000-yard stare later in the evening. As if they're so busy or tired they forget to say hi when you walk in, or miss little details like bringing an asked-for lemon with the water. That being said, they are good at their job and get the food out efficiently when the orders are up. The food is a notch up from standard family diner food. Their corn fritter appetizer is pretty delicious, served with both sweet and savory dipping sauce options. There was a slight problem with the consistency of the cooking with our order, but perhaps one fritter out of ten was underdone. We had more than enough to make up for that one bad one. I really love that they offer Thanksgiving dinner all year 'round. The mashed potatoes included in that dish are probably the best I've had in the area. That Thanksgiving special is definitely a reason to go here, especially if you're craving comfort food. Let's just say they don't skimp on the gravy. The other items I've ordered are good but not wonderful. It's just really standard, good, hearty food. I need to go back and try the breakfast and the dessert. Since I've just moved into the neighborhood, I'm sure I'll be heading back soon to try both.

Pretty nice breakfast place, tasty food, decent coffee, reasonable prices, old timey farm equipment on the wall, comforting vibe, old people ( cause old people know breakfast). Good place to nurse a hangover or just have a good breakfast. I had the Greek omelet and it was pretty awesome. 84/100

This is another one of the very few reliable places to eat in the area... you have to learn the menu a little. order the strawberry arnold palmer off the menu - best ever some of the special pasta dishes are almost zingerman's priced - remember you are at a family diner before you order something like that. good burgers, excellent quesadillas... pretty decent reuben (a little on the wet side)...I would stay away from the beef stew special (mostly canned, and tomato based), but the homemade chicken noodle soup is good. The Shepherd's pie is also good. my beer-snob friends usually find an acceptable brew, and their delicious home made apple pies are $10 for the whole pie. sometimes they have a weekly crab leg special, I see signs but haven't yet caught them on the right night.

I ate here for the first time last night, and I'm sitting here again for a meal tonight! Great home cooked food (try the meat loaf or prime rib if it's available), the servers are helpful and I didn't hesitate to eat here 2 nights in a row.

All I have to say is this place won me over with something that I'd never-ever expect to be won over with - dessert. That's right, dessert! Usually when I go out to eat I find it hard not to stuff with my face with everything at the table from the second I sit down to the point where I've literally cleaned my dinner plate off. By that point I have zero room or desire to eat anything else, except for this one very rare occasion. Before we talk about dessert, I want to talk about both their breakfast and lunch/dinner offering as I found both to be very good. The couple of times I was there for breakfast I had one of their omelets w/ hash browns, etc (can't remember what kind I got but it was good). For lunch I had the Shepard's pie and remember liking that a lot too. Anyway, back to dessert :-) Like I said, I'm not usually a desert person, but the waitress came around to the table and showed off the desert tray. The offerings of that day were along the lines of rice pudding, apple pie, chocolate somthing 'er nuther, and pumpkin pie. I don't know what it was that day, but I really wanted a piece of that pumpkin pie (it was November so it was "in season"). I'll tell you what, that pumpkin pie was the best piece of pie I have EVER had. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to get the balance of pumpkin pie spices absolutely perfect. It was a pumpkin-y slice of delicious heaven. I managed to finish the whole since even though my body was ready to shut down on me for trying to stuff a pumpkin pie on top of a Shepard's pie. I left that day bloated and happy and couldn't ask for anything more...well, probably a nap as my food coma set in, but it was worth it.

Harvest Moon was a convenient stop for breakfast while taking 94 back to Chicago from the Dirty D. I had high hopes considering I love breakfast food, even though prior reviews said it was marginal at best. Alas, the previous reviews are right again. It was about 11am on a Sunday, so naturally the place was busy. But, we were seated right away. The place is really clean and decorated like you'd expect a family restaurant in Michigan to be decorated - lots of kitschy stuff on the walls. I ordered the western skillet (hash browns, cheese, onion, green pepper, mushrooms) with wheat toast and a coffee. The coffee was pretty good, but it led to a key mistake. My cup was completely empty for about 10 minutes. That's pretty much unacceptable for a breakfast place, and I was jonesing for some caffeine at the time so that didn't help. The food was...interesting. I was kinda expecting some greasy mess of fixins piled together in a skillet. Oddly enough, it wasn't greasy at all. It was kinda dry actually. Is this a good or a bad thing? I dunno. I must say, the wheat "toast" was hardly such, more like bread that they put in front of an incandescent bulb for a few seconds. Aside from the coffee snafu, service was pretty good considering how busy they were. Prices are pretty cheap, which I'm assuming is due to the location of Harvest Moon.

I want this to be a good, cute breakfast place, but I just don't think it is. We stopped during our Escape from Dee-twah, and I think I might look elsewhere next time. Service was fine - we actually stopped in at the exact wrong time - brunch time on Sunday - but it wasn't all that busy. By the time we left, it had really picked up, but it didn't affect us too much. I had the Mediterranean skillet - eggs, potatoes, gyro meat, feta, etc. It included onion when it arrived - big old nice raw onion, which you all know by now is not my favorite. I swear this wasn't on the menu, but whatever. I will say that the potatoes weren't greasy, which is a nice change. Usually they're swimming in future stomach upset. The rest of it was normal. Most disappointing was the toast - not really toasted as it was wet with butter. I don't expect to be wowed by breakfast, but when it comes right down to it, I have definitely had better, and thus, two stars.

The worse place I ever had breakfast , dirty glass and plates with very bad food. Save yourself some money and bad breakfast by not going here.

The service is very patchy here: one or two waitresses are really good but the rest are indifferent or not properly trained. Don't sit near the banquettes where the mural is as the carpet smells very mouldy in that area. What Harvest Moon makes best are the fries, which are perfectly done each time. Forgo the steaks of any kind - they're tough and full of fat pockets. The rest is average diner food. The manager/owner will never acknowledge you no matter how many times you've eaten there. We couldn't help but notice that none of the staff ~ None ~ ever look happy or even crack a smile. Ever. It's that atmosphere that stops us going in there more often.

Like others, I really want to like this place. I've given it 4 or 5 tries now, but after the latest visit I have to say that it just hasn't improved. Like most times, I went on a weekend and it was busy but was able to get seated within a few minutes. The problem comes when no waitstaff come by for several minutes. For breakfast, I always like to get some water or coffee right away then am content to wait a few more minutes but the time kept ticking and nothing. I also have had the experience, like others, the waitstaff doesn't smile or seem to go out of their way to do anything for you. They're not rude but not nice. I'm not looking for a Glee sing-along but some short friendly banter would be nice. The food was ok. My omelette wasn't mile-high or fluffy as the menu promised but did taste pretty good. They let me sub an item without any problem too. I like the setting but unfortunately have never left with a great experience. It isn't a bad place, but for the price (aside from weekday breakfast specials) you can get a much better value and experience elsewhere in the area.

Harvest Moon Cafe is a little overlooked gem of a restaurant. It's one step up from the average diner, and offers a homey atmosphere, with shaded outdoor seating in nice weather. They advertise the restaurant as offering "homestyle country cooking," and that's what they deliver. It's located near the border between Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor, so it's a convenient drive for residents of both cities. Harvest Moon is a great stop for breakfast, especially a late breakfast on the weekend, with their fluffy, savory omelets, called "Mike's Mile High Omelettes." The French toast, pancakes, and other breakfast offerings are good as well. But skip the coffee-- it's only mediocre. If breakfast is the best meal of the day here, lunch is a close second. The cafe offers classic hot sandwiches, from the French Dip to "Knife and Fork" chili dogs. It also has a list of classic deli sandwiches. My favorite of the deli sandwiches is their version of a vegetarian Reuben sandwich, called the "Reubenesque." It's made with a vegetarian garden patty, sauer kraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing on rye bread. It's awesome with a side of fries. As a lighter option for lunch, try a Greek salad, either plain or topped with chicken or gyro meat. It's a nice touch that the dinner salads are all served with warm homemade bread and butter. For a more filling meal, the menu features "Homestyle Dinner Favorites" such as homemade turkey pot pie "Meatloaf of the Gods," and a "Thanksgiving Feast" meal of turkey breast, homemade stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, buttered corn, and cranberry sauce. I've always wanted to come to Harvest Moon and have a snack and a beer on the patio, but the pedestrian beer and wine menu has kept me from doing that. They only offer low-end wines and domestic beers like Miller and Bud. The most exotic beer on the menu is Amstel Light. On the plus side, the waitstaff is nice and competent here, and the service has never been slow, even when it was packed with weekend brunch diners.

I want to like this place. It's close by my home and locally owned. It was remodeled a handfull of years ago and has nice decor. But the food is always just so-so. We go back once a year or so to see if it improves but it's always mediocre at best. Salads are based on big mounds of pale iceberg lettuce. The sandwiches are ok but not spectacular. The meatloaf is pretty good and they have a turkey dinner which isn't too bad (especially if Thanksgiving isn't right around the bend). It's a bit better than the typical Coney food but not by much. I'm hoping they improve and I'll continue to give it a chance from time to time. I want to like this place and I want to keep it around.

Alas, I have found a place in Ann Arbor that has good hangover breakfast. This place is a quaint little spot with a country style decor. The Harvest Moon always is jam packed on Sundays which is when I go. They have a full menu however I have only tried the breakfast. Breakfast burrito's here are great and my personal fave which is the Med. Skillet. This place keeps your coffee full as well as your stomach, any of you visiting yelpers, swing through here for a breakfast. Good Stuff

I met a friend here for brunch this morning. I picked the place because I figured that between being right off an exit of 23 and at the intersection of two major roads she'd have no problem finding it. She's not from the area, and she's the type to get lost going to the bathroom in her own house at 3 am, so she managed to get lost anyway. I'd pegged Harvest Moon for a while as a place to try for breakfasty foods. My experience is that if a place offers breakfast all day, even if it's open until past dinnertime, it's probably a place that does breakfast best. Their menu says that most of the breakfast items are offered all day, with the exception of things like waffles and oatmeal, stuff that probably takes up limited kitchen space that can better be used by lunch/dinner foods. But, as always, I digress. Eventually my friend arrived and we went inside to have some breakfast/brunch and catch up on 20 yrs of life. First up: coffee. The waitress brought us some water and said she'd just started a new pot. That was fine; the coffee when we got it was quite hot and tasty. Minor complaint: only sweeteners were sugar and saccharin ("the pink stuff"). But no problem for me, I carry around some Splenda pellets. (They're like rabbit pellets only sweeter, and less poop-ful) The waitress helpfully pointed out their breakfast specials but we had other ideas. My friend ordered the potato pancakes, which came with bacon. She's a vegetarian, though, so she gave me the bacon. It was so tragic, I felt horrible. Wait, no I didn't. Gods I love bacon! Sadly, however, the "side" was 2 whole slices. I did not try any of the potato pancakes, which looked and smelled good. I meant to ask for a bite but kept getting distracted with all the non-stop between-food-intake talking. I ordered an omelet, which they advertise on their menu as "mile high" and "souffle style". First of all, my choice omelet was shot down with "Oh, sorry, we're out of spinach, won't have any until tomorrow." The waitress then aired my thoughts with "I dunno why they just can't go across the street to grab some until then" [there's a Coleman's farm market right across 12 from them]. The omelet was tasty anyway, full of tasty feta cheese and mushrooms, but it was neither "mile high" nor "souffle" like. It looked like your standard diner omelet: a flat mess of scrambled eggs, cooked in one piece, with whatever stuffed inside. I got rye toast with my flat omelet. The pieces were relatively small but it was a good strong rye bread. I did not try any of the accompanying jam. We sat for too long yapping and yapping and eventually the waitress started doing the "You've been here too long" shuffle -- you know, pick up the checks and put them back down to be sure we've seen 'em, asking for the Nth time, "Do you need something more?" Eventually we left, leaving a mongo tip to make up for sucking down the table. But then we sat outside on a park bench and yapped for at least another hour. After a while the waitress came out to make sure we were ok -- she said that if our car had broken down she was going to offer us a ride home! We thanked her about a thousand times, yet still sat and gabbed. It wasn't until the parking lot started to fill up -- because of our arrival time we'd grabbed some choice spots -- that we finally gave up and left. Usually when I'm in that general area at breakfast time I'll go over to the IHOP, but next time I will consider coming back to this place. I want to try those potato pancakes for myself.

Came for lunch on recommendation of co-worker, after I said I wanted to have a good hamburger. The restaurant interior and bathrooms were clean and nice-looking, and we were seated right away. A server took our drink orders soon after and returned with the beverages quickly. I had a cheeseburger, which the menu said was hand-pattied, cooked medium-well, and served with lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickle on the side. I requested mine be cooked medium. The food also arrived fairly quickly. The burger bun was nice, and the patty was topped with a slice of real Swiss and not pasteurized, which I appreciated. However, the burger was not medium, or even medium well. It was uniformly cooked throughout without a hint of pink, and on the dry side. No onions came on the side, which was the one topping I actually wanted, so I had to request some be brought out. The accompanying steak fries were hot, but were a very small portion compared to what would come with a burger at a Coney or someplace like Red Robin. We weren't offered drink refills until two out of three at the table had completely finished eating, but we also didn't flag anyone down either. While we were there the dining room filled up. People seemed to be enjoying their meals, but I didn't see any other burger eaters. Might just need to try again for breakfast, or some other lunch entree.

Want to like this place more than I do. Atmosphere is good but the waitstaff is sometimes under experienced or, on occasion, ruder more seasoned waitresses. There are a few gems on the menu but most of the food is pretty mediocre. We'll go here again but it isn't our first choice.

I love going to Harvest Moon Cafe for some comfort food. Located on the corner of Carpenter and Michigan Ave, it's a convenient restaurant to go to when you know everywhere else will be busy. Their waitresses are always friendly and their food is amazing. One of my favorite dishes there is "Dino's Favorite Fish Sandwich." I usually don't like to order fried cod at restaurants, but this is battered lightly. It's not oily and when you smash it up in the bun, it's a perfect temperature and the batter won't burn your mouth. They make their own tartar sauce and it's delicious on the sandwich. I always get sweet potato fries on side and theirs is also one of my favorites. My husband loves the "Thanksgiving On A Bun." It's definitely nothing you can eat with your hands, so grab a knife and fork. In summation, for the best comfort food, this is definitely the place!

I was in a rush at lunchtime (Saturday) because I was working. My waitress, Juanita, was very very accommodating, offering several tempting, quick-to-make choices. The service gets a 5 of 5! Opted for the Thanksgiving sandwich, a hot, comforting and generous blast of turkey, potatoes, stuffing and cranberries (on the side). Savory, thick, yellow gravy flowed over the platter like lava from Hawaii's Kilauea volcano! Food gets 4 out of 5 but only because the cranberries were merely very good-- although miles better than crummy canned grocery store cranberry jelly--and the turkey a bit dry. (I prefer dark meat anyhow, because it's tastier and more moist, but that was not offered here.) Anyway, I sorely needed comfort food, not just because I was working on Saturday, but my less than compassionate supervisor was browbeating me for not working fast enough--by text message.* I'm thankful Harvest Moon delivered the goods! Overall: excellent! *(In case anyone couldn't figure this out on their own, managing by text is not management, its MISmanagement. If you want to talk to an employee about performance issues, do it in person, for God's sake. Issues with people skills much?)

I took my three granddaughters there today (ages 8, 4 and 3). They had a great kids menu and all three girls loved their meals! I had a burger and fries which really hit the spot. The wait staff was very accommodating and efficient. The 8 year old told me she wants to go there again soon! I am sure this will be a regular stop whenever I am in town visiting again!

I LOVE this place. It's comfy cozy with adorable decor. It makes you feel welcome and at home. The staff has always been very friendly and professional. My water glass has never been empty. I enjoy their gyro and their omelets. Very delicious! My boyfriend is a fan of their chicken fingers and breakfast burritos. They have a small wine list and a small bar...very cute. They gave two tvs and wifi. :)

This place used to be SO GOOD five or so years ago, before they added a bar (that I've never seen anyone actually sitting at). I don't know if they are under new ownership or what, but I don't think I will be going back. The meatloaf I ordered the last time I was in a few weeks back made me sick and was way over priced ($13). It would be great if they would return to putting the attention into their food that they used to do. This food now is like, a step below Big Boy.

I am a big Harvest Moon fan ... A no-frills breakfast joint that reminds me of home. Their omelettes and skillets are my go-to; though you really can't go wrong. Good breakfast deals on weekday mornings too. Staff is friendly.

I will openly admit I am biased towards fresh or healthier food. When I do eat junky things I want them to be tasty. My mom was visiting and I know she has a particular fondness for Midwest food and greasy down home cookin'. When I saw the crummy sign and non posh location I thought I had hit the jackpot. We got breakfasty items and my mom couldn't help but order the hush puppies. When the pups came they were heavy greasy corn wads and our entrees were not much better. Everything was not only greasy, but didn't have that fresh taste and the flavors all ran together in a mush. The coffee was burned and crummy as well. I am taking 1 star away for the décor/waitress combo. Part of the charm of these places are the old waitresses, but ours was a little much. Too familiar and standing there yammering forever as we tried to look at the menus, order or god forbid shove this mediocre food in our pie holes. It was kind of funny but the waitress would not let us leave without taking those damn hush puppies. We tried to be polite, we even tried to leave them there on the table and she would not let us go without it. They weren't even good enough to feed my dog. The décor is kind of cute, but they arranged the tables such that they are very close. It wasn't exactly packed when I was there so spread 'em out sister. Overall I would not recommend people try this place. I am sure regulars love it, but from a conventional standpoint it is not good food or a good experience.

Let's see...when we walked in, the hostess was on the floor but she made eye contact and smiled at us right away. Good sign. Unfortunately, our server wasn't that great. Took too long to be greeted, took a weirdly long time to get 2 drinks from the bar, and she was obviously in a hurry when we placed our food orders. That said, I'd go back and see if it was a fluke because it was a busy Saturday night or if it's always like that. Our food was good and the prices are really reasonable. The only thing I would love to see them work on is the beer/wine list. It's pretty lame.

It honestly pains me to write this review. The first time I went here I would have easily given in 4-5 Stars, but this last time....I almost gave a 1 Star. It would seem that our denominator would be the recent remodel..Before the place was great, the focus on great food really set it apart. Maybe this will be temporary but after the remodel the quality of the food was considerably noticeable. My dish (the Gorgonzola Steak Alfredo) was completely inedible. However, my boyfriend's dish (The Thanksgiving Dinner) was better...but still not the same as before, much lower quality and a bit overcooked and lackluster seasoned. Will try again in a few months but REALLY disappointed.

Haven't been here in awhile and the update is really nicely done. We got here later on a Thursday night and were seated immediately. The waitress was very nice and genial. We ordered the Hill of corn fritters (apps were half off after 8 p.m.) and I got a gyro and my friend got a burger. The fritters were good, needed a bit of jazzing up. They are served with some honey mustard which isn't really my bag. Some ranch would have been good but I neglected to ask for any. My gyro was very good, their homemade tzatziki (sp?) sauce was excellent. Lots of cucumber and garlic with just the right amount of dill..so good!!! My friend said his burger was good as well. Would definitely come here again!!

Honey I'm Home! Loved the cozy feel and home-cooked food of this little nook. Coffee served hot, fresh and in a full size mug ( good for coffee snob like me). I had one of the breakfast skillets and it was perfect balance of hash browns, meat, onions and cheese... Eggs were delightful and fresh and my rye toast was balanced with butter plus the strawberry preserve was a pleasant surprise and great compliment to my meal. The portion size was plenty and not over-sized like many restaurants do today. Our waitress Cindy was nice, friendly, attentive and not overly chatty. We left the Harvest Moon Cafe satisfied! I really like this place ...simple, rustic and tasty! Needless to say..... We will be back!

We recently tried this place and had high hopes. Unfortunately, we should have consulted Yelp first before trying it as the food was very bland. I ordered the breakfast skillet which was basically a single scrambled egg on hash browns and very light on everything else - not very tasty. Even worse however was hostess. I don't think they're properly trained on seating people - which seems kind of a funny thing to say, lol. We were told 20 minutes for a table of 7. However, after 30 minutes of waiting we started watching people come in with parties of 2 and 4 get seated almost immediately. Then, we watched even more closely and would see two tables near each other with one about to be bused but instead of holding them the hostess would just seat the next people who came in at one of the tables. The seating is such that for 7 people they have to put two tables together. But the hostess seemed to think a table of 7 would just magically appear. We waited for over an hour seeing this repeated and repeatedly asking the hostess until finally we just told her to seat us at two different tables. Then came the bland food...

My wife and I ordered greek salads. She had fries, I had chili on the side. I will say the chili is one of the best I've had in Ann Arbor, and I'm currently on a mission to sample every diner chili in town. Meaty, with very nice balance of herb/onion/pepper/tomato flavors--not just "meat&heat." Salads were crisp, though the greek dressing was a little bland. Fries were good. Remember having a reuben there a few years back that was also quite good. If I got to this part of town more often I'd probably eat here more. Would give this 4 stars except for service. My wife had coffee, and the waitress didn't offer a refill till we were ready to leave. Would love to try breakfast here sometime.

We stopped here on a whim while in the area. We were talked into the tuna steak, despite still being a little leery of rare fish; it turned out to be cooked through, but in this case I consider it a good thing. For us, at least, it gave us an introduction to the fish in a non-canned state, and I suspect that it makes tuna steak a little less scarily exotic to a populace that might not be used to it. The homemade pie was awesome, and the waitress was well-informed and made suggestions when we asked, but wasn't pushy. It was a very positive experience, and we'll definitely be back.

This was a great place to take my grandparents when they came to visit because they offered home style cooking which they love. Conveniently right off the highway, great place to sit down for a meal after traveling. Gas stations across the street and they offer plenty of parking.

Aside from a seriously awkward conversation I somehow got roped into with a server about her son, I almost always enjoy coming here. (the other star is for having 4 tables that are a foot and half across and against a wall, and ALWAYS trying to stick me at them. Everyone enjoys a little space, let's get real with your playschool tables). The important things: I've tried several things on the menu and have enjoyed them all. I love that they have more than just salad for us vegetarians too, that is a good sign. My husband loves the Mediterranean skillet, and craves it constantly. I've tried to recreate it at home only to have him tell me it's just as good, but I can tell by his face where we'll be 24 hours from then.

I'm so surprised at the other reviews for this place, I love it. I've had both breakfast and lunch here and it was great. Much better then a coney island, but at the same price. I usually get the large breakfast special..they make my eggs perfectly, and the toast is excellent. I've also had french toast, which was delicious. Waitresses are friendly and quick with coffee refills. Whenever I find myself down Ann Arbor/Ypsi way I make it a point to stop in here!

The Harvest Moon Cafe is my 7-year-old daughter's favorite restaurant. My wife, however, doesn't care for it. This seem the be the case with this place- people either love it or hate it and only a few people such as myself find it to be just okay. To be fair, for my review I will rate different aspects separately. Food-3 stars- The food here is really hard to rate because it depends on what you get. The hamburgers are a greasy nightmare but other items such a the turkey dinner or the pancakes are awesome. Service- 3 stars- I have had a few lousy servers here but for the most part its not so bad. Service is pretty standard but it doesn't exceed my expectations. Atmosphere- 4 stars- The rustic decor of this restaurant makes the place seem like a more "mom/pop" version of Cracker Barrel. Overall, I find this place to be a relaxing environment. Cleanliness- 3 stars- This place is usually clean although I have experienced gross tables on a couple occasions and my wife did spazz out on one occasion when she found a bug in her food. I'm sure the later was a one-time accident since we had never experienced that at any other time. My overall rating of the Harvest Moon Cafe is 3/5 because I find it to be a middle-of-the-road restaurant. There are some things about it that are great and others which aren't but overall I find it to just be average. It's worth visiting once to see if you like it.

This is a very good family style restaurant. They offer homemade soup and bread - excellent bread. Portions are good.

I have passed the sign for the Harvest Moon Cafe for years--who knew I would actually end eating here at some point? Today I met my mom for a special edition Fancy Breakfast Wednesday before a rehearsal in Ann Arbor. Despite her now having lived in Ypsilanti for over a year, this is where she suggested for breakfast. My response was, "Isn't that a truck stop type place?" She said, "No! It's nice. It's brick." I arrived before my mom, taking in the a cozy dining room with contemporary light fixtures juxtaposed with antique farm equipment on the walls (think pitchforks, scythes, a large cast iron skillet and any other prop that might have been a weapon in Children of the Corn VIII), large roosters (which I totally love), and a giant harvest mural that made smile because of a large head of a cabbage similar to the one that Helena Bonham Carter held in the no so grand Tim Burton Willy Wonka movie. The menu was actually pretty varied with normal diner fare. They have a Meatloaf "Of The Gods" available in a cake or in a burger as well as a Garbage Pail Salad. I asked my mom if it came in a pail and she said she thought it did--I somehow am still a skeptic. I ordered the three cheese omelet with spinach added, steak fries instead of hashbrowns and an English muffin. The omelets were labeled as mile high though it was pretty standard sized. Breakfast was totally fine and was basically as expected. The fries were delicious and crispy, the English muffin was served with a paper cup of butter and jam kind of like a the ketchup cups at Wendy's. Sadly, the ketchup on the table was Fancy House Recipe--why can't people just serve Heinz? I'm totally a ketchup snob. My mom ordered a pulled pork sandwich which she really enjoyed. We also each had a slice of pie "to cut the grease" as my mother would say. I had the pumpkin pie which is not made in house but was still delicious, and mom had the apple pie a la mode which they do make homemade. I would return to Harvest Moon Cafe for breakfast again. I would like to try their pancakes since the menu features "Fabulous Buttermilk Pancakes" and a Blueberry Walnut Pancakes which sound really great. I tried to order a pancake instead of toast (sometimes places will do that) but our server crushed my dreams of that. Oh well, I'll survive, I think?

The service is great. The waitresses are friendly and even during the busiest times they are attentive. I go once or twice a month for breakfast. It's clean and reasonably priced. Gotta go...on my way to Harvest Moon!

Ugh. They must have new cooks. I thought my recent bad experience might have been a one off but my parents also complained to me about a visit here and I see my recent visitor fellow yelpers agree. One dried out turkey pot pie and an utterly tasteless shepherd's pie was enough for me. A great waitress cannot make up for wretched food. It's a real shame because this used to be a periodic happy stop for us.

A classmate and I met for breakfast at Harvest Moon Cafe one Saturday morning. As a first-timer I was really impressed with the woodsy decor and "home" feel to it. I ordered the mediterranean skillet (potatoes, onion, gyro meat, feta cheese, topped with eggs overeasy) and it was super good!! The problem was that it was cold. :( And although there wasn't too many people, our waitress wasn't very pleasant. Overall though, I think it's a great mom and pop restaurant that I would bring my friends and family to. I'd like to try the nachos next time.

They have great breakfast skillet meals.

Food is below average. It is nothing like a nice little diner with friendly service. We used to go there for breakfast but stopped going because of the rude wait staff which was somewhat surprising since we were semi-regulars on the weekends. There are plenty of places in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor that have much better food and much friendlier service.
