Fajita Republic Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

A few weeks ago me and my friends went to try this fajita Republic restaurant . I often saw the ads on local Tv. It seems like they been spending a lot cash on advertising. It was a Thursday around 8:00pm it was not busy at that time. We were sat immediately as we arrived. Waitress came to our table after 4 mins. I ordered cantina margarita. Not good at all. I sent it back instead I had a beer. One of my friends order a mojito. He said it was good. I ordered three stake tacos. The yellow tortillas were disgusting. They were cold. My question to the owners is what kind of Tex-mex food is this? What are you trying to prove to people? A fancy place with horrible food. This is not Mexican food nor tex-mex. After all not good experience. The service was fine but the food oh lord! Not good at all. We very disappointed. For sure we are not coming back. There will be not second chance. You know why? There are plenty of good Mexican restaurants in the area.

Kind of surprised of the harsh reviews. Obviously it's not like authentic Mexican food you'll get in downtown in the Mexican village. I've been here three times and loved everything I got (chicken fajitas, nachos, Mexican Cobb salad). I also absolutely love the chips and salsa that they serve. The seasoning on the chips is delicious.

This place wasn't very good. I wouldn't have been surprised if I saw Gordon Ramsey appear with a camera crew. The DYI Guac wasn't any good. The rice was undercooked. The fajita meat was good, but the portions were small. They should raise their prices if they can't provide a good portion at the current price. The fajita was cold when it was served. The chips and salsa weren't anything to write home about. Stay away from this restaurant. You can get a better meal from Don Pablos down the street. I don't understand why some of these reviewers gave this a high rating. Most of them had the same complaints I did. Is this type of food and service acceptable to them?

Went there with family. House margarita was decent. Mexican pizza with chicken appetizer was good as well. We were excited to eat good Mexican dinner (after Abuelos closed). I ordered he tequila lime fajitas, family got enchiladas, chicken tacos, and quesadillas. All were very meh! Nothing exciting at all. Chicken was tough, veggies were meh. All in all, very sub par food. Our waitress Ashley forgot a side order of rice & beans. She was attentive, and a good waitress otherwise. This restaurant is not worth the wait or the prices at all. Save your money, try Tejidas instead!

Our Cadillac margarita's were very good! Served with with a floater of orange cognac. Normally I would not order a $12 drink! But my husband and I agree that those two drinks were worth the $24. We both liked the complementary chips and salsa, lots of cilantro and onion. All three choices of beans were jazzed up! We tend to.like a plain old refried bean with not to much seasoning! The guacamole had more onions/tomato than avocado, but was very good! I ordered enchiladas (one beef , one cheese and onion they were ok. The refritos were to spicy to me. And the Spanish rice didn't have any flavor. My husband ordered carne asada tacos. They were served cold meat and all. The deserts looked great but we didnt try one. I see us going again for chips/salsa and some drinks in the warmer months because the outdoor seating and outdoor fire pit

Was looking forward to enjoying a lovely Sunday lunch with hubby... Went to Fajita Republic on Hall Rd. Wow what a disappointment. Food had no flavor, very greasy, and way overpriced. We ordered avocado fries, steak quesadilla and ahi tuna tostadas. Avocado fries had no flavor, were not ripe and fried in old grease. Steak quesadilla was very greasy as well and cooked on a dirty grill. Ahi tuna was overcooked and served with a watered down coleslaw been on very greasy homemade chips. It's sad to say Taco Bell has better Mexican food then this restaurant. Worst Mexican food we've ever had! Don't waste your time or money. We spent $40 and didnt even have a drinks.

First visit last night. Chips and salsa were very tasty. I had the beef/chicken fajita combo. Very, very bland food. Service was slower than I like, but overall OK. My wife had shrimp enchiladas and had same opinion of flavor, or lack there of. We both decided that if we were invited there we would accept, but we may not go back on our own.

There was nothing that I liked about this place. The inside feels like a fake restaurant, the menu was confusing and the food didn't taste good enough for the price they charge! Won't be going back.

12 year old 's greeted us. Big fat band aid on a girl waitresses neck was serving the table next to us. Gross. Bartenders were a joke. I got a half way filed up beer glass. This place Will not be around for a while if they continue what they opened up with. I may be back. If they increase their wait staff persona

Seen that it has recently opened so decided to give it a try.. Place was busy but my date can always find us a spot at the bar as that's what he did on our first date ..Well not this time :( The family of 12 with young children took that over so unfortunately we had to sit at a very small table by the bar speaking of small... We had tacos and enchiladas which were just ok. The drinks were not lacking ice. Will give them time to get established then try again.

Service was okay but the food was over priced and plain. The chicken had no flavor and very boring. The atmosphere was cool but that was about it. Probably not returning.

The staff was all pretty green. the food was very good. We split a Catina nacho and mexi-Cobb salad. Both were very good. Portions were nice as well. Total bill came to 23$. Very good. I will definetly go back

Very disappointed by the service from the hostess - went last night for dinner, we were told there'd be a 30 minute wait. Opened the NoWait app and it said it'd be a 72 minute wait. After 45 minutes I asked the hostess if perhaps the app was giving a false read, but nope! We had more than 15 parties ahead of us and it'd be another 45 - 60 minute wait. Why lie and tell a potential customer there's a 30 minute wait when there are 20+ people who've already been waiting well over an hour? Very disappointed. Needless to say, after 45 minutes of waiting, and seeing it'd be another 45 minutes to an hour, we left.

First time we came here the service was good! The waitress was very attentive. We also came on free taco Tuesday which was awesome. Then we came a second time and our waitress was bad. She didn't not bring chips or soup. She can only focus on one thing at a time. And she couldn't even get our food right. We asked for a chicken cantina bowl and she brought a cantina bowl with no chicken.

Went there Saturday at 6pm so I realize it was probably their busiest time of the week. Sat at the bar and had a few beers. That was ok since we snagged some seats. Had their steak fajita and chicken fajita after for dinner. Ordered different sides so we could try them all. Food was mediocre. Sides were very bland. One of our tortilla containers was delivered empty. Waitress corrected but food deliver should have noticed?? Ordered a Chechen fajita to go. That also arrived home with no tortilla. While I realize this is a new restaurant so there is a learning curve, it will be a cold day in hell before I will be able to get my husband back here. I will probably give it another try solo.

Walked in and thought the place looked great. Sat down and our server knew nothing about any of the drinks we asked him as well as appetizers. Seemed like he started working yesterday. My boyfriend asked for a lime for his drink and the server brought it to him with his bare hands. Obviously we didn't use the lime. Ordered the steak and chicken combo fajitas. Love fajitas so was super excited. Brought it without the fixings. The fajitas were so bland. I make it better at home. I don't think I would have been as disappointed if the name of the place wasn't fajitas cantina. Not trying to be a b**** but not good. Won't come back

Absolutely a joke! Over priced and horrible! Order some fajita so the brought them out and tortillas. No topping like sour cream salsa lettuce nothing. Had to ask. I ordered merica tacos. Shells are deffinetaly out of a old El Paso box. Very little meat and few shreds of lettuce and cheese. I ate one no flavor didn't eat anymore. If you want good food Mexican Village downtown or on 22 and vandyke same owner and there's a reason why there's always a wait to get in. This place is 5 times as big and had like 6 people in there.

Terrible! Will be surprised if they are here next year! Food not good wine tasted rancid ! Few choices for micro brews! Wine selection not so much!, will not be back! Really wanted to like it ....

Good option for Mexican on the East side. Service was excellent, which goes a long way these days. Chips have a nice seasoning on them & salsa is excellent- nice garlicky flavor & consistency without being too spicy. The crispy Mexican coke carnitas fajitas were good- nice flavor & tender meat. The smoked chili steak quesadilla was very good- very flavorful & tender steak chunks. The Mama's Thirsty cocktail (their version of a bahama mama) was excellent! Flour tortillas are ok- they aren't homemade, but no one up here seems to make their own (I miss Texas!) overall a good dining experience. Friendly staff & management. I would come back.

Very good took a little long to get food but the server kept bringing chips and filling up our drinks. It was a good time and good food.

The food taste fresh, but bland. I prefer salty over sweet, any day, except the chips here are waayyyyy too salty. Maybe it's a tactic to encourage more drinking. Eh, this place won't be around for long. There are so many better places for Mexican food. Too bad! I was hoping it would be better.

I was thrilled when this restaurant was announced and opened. We need more great Mexican food in our area. Unfortunately, my hopes were quickly dashed when we had our first meal. After a sudden taco craving we quickly phoned in an order during dinner hours on a Saturday. The order: tacos Carne Asada, chicken tinga and tequila-lime chicken. First impression- the order was not very warm despite arriving and picking up the food exactly as directed (20 minutes). Second impression- the first bite off the Carne Asada was completely unappealing- large chunks of sinewy, inedible hunks of seemingly low-grade steak (the cow deserved better...). They could have at least run a knife against the grain to soften the blow! Hopes dashed...tacos down the disposal. The chicken tacos (despite the freaky green guacamole) faired slightly better- nothing special and not worth the $10 per meal for 2 Tacos. The sides were also bland and forgettable. This whole experience was disappointing as I like to support Michigan companies- but I will not be returning.

Very fresh ! Delicious salsa. Friendly staff. Only complaint was very little chicken with the fajita but manager immediately brought a little more. Will be back !

I was pleasantly surprised today, since a lot of the reviews were bad. Service was great. Very efficient, quick and our server was very pleasant. The food was all very good, it all tasted very fresh. I went with 2 other people and we liked each dish that we ordered. The lemonade is homemade and tasty as well! We will be going back.

I got the 24 hour flat iron steak and my wife got crispy Mexican coke carnitas. Are food took forever to show up and once we got it, we ask if we could have some lettuce, cheese, and sour cream. The standard sides with a 16.99 plate. Nope does not come with any side plate and after asking and saying ok how much than? The waitress walked away and gave us a micro amount of sour cream to share? Both are dishes tasted way over spiced to the point our lips hurt and we only ate a few bites. With out any topping to cool it down it was to much spice to take on. My wife thought the dish tasted like Mongolian when you get to excited and over spiced your first bowl. We paid about what Mongolian barbecue cost for next to one bowl and no unlimited soup, salad, bowls, and sides. Next time, we will simply go to Mongolian and make our own food that will show up under an hour and not over spiced. In comparison they are a bargain compared to this trendy place with very slow waitresses.

If you're looking for a place to get good Mexican, this is not the place to go. The service is mediocre, the food is terribly disappointing in terms of portion, taste, and price. My boyfriend and I decided taco bell would have been a better fit for our desire for Mexican. I got beef enchiladas. My 2 enchiladas were very small. Maybe a third of the size of one enchilada at Don pablos for those who know them? For those that don't.....maybe the size of a white board eraser? :/ they had no flavor once so ever. They were smothered in cheese, and I love cheese. But it was just...really bland. The beans were ok. They were lukewarm on the plate. My boyfriend got the chicken tacos. I thought they were absolutely disgusting. They were very small and loaded with cheese and onions and herbs. It looked like they'd be full of flavor and looked really fresh. They were soggy, the chicken was chewy, they also had no flavor and I personally did not like them. We both actually got sick after eating there. I assume it to be this place since this was the only thing we had eaten at the time. We went for lunch. Which brings me to price. They have no lunch prices. So for my lunch to get 2 beef enchiladas, both combined the size of a white board eraser, and a lemonade was 14 dollars. My lemonade was 4 dollars, no free refills, and was a fountain drink. Honestly that angers me the most considering my boyfriend got a Pepsi from the same machine probably for 2 dollars. My boyfriend's bill was 11 for 2 nasty chicken tacos and a Pepsi. His tacos were probably a little bigger than the Palm of our hands. If you have large hands, think small. This place was not good, not worth the time, and not worth the tummy ache and bathroom issues that followed. I will say though, as a very nice positive, their bathrooms when I went were beautiful, and very clean. I do absolutely love the sink faucet. It's really cool. If you consider going there at all to eat, don't. But if you need a good place to potty on the road, if they let you, this is the place. I'm totally serious.

I am also shocked by how low the rating is of this place. The only part of Fajita Republic that puts me off is their terrible logo design. Everything else is FANTASTIC. My girlfriend and I went here on a Monday evening. Natalie was our waitress and very attentive the entire time we were there. Service gets five stars all on its own from me. Chips & salsa were tastefully seasoned, not over salted like some places. Salsa was the perfect texture, not full of cubed tomatoes and not super liquidy either. I ordered chicken fajitas and my girlfriend ordered cheesy chorizo fajitas. Both came out piled high on sizzling skillets and we had leftovers to spare. As we ate, our chips, salsa and drinks were never empty for more than a minute. Again, Natalie was the bomb. My girlfriend only got three tortillas, but at the end of our meal we addressed it to Natalie and she brought out FOUR more tortillas to take home with us. I'm so excited for lunch today. The prices may seem steep, but the bottomless chips & salsa and spoiling service make it worth every penny. This was my first visiting experience and I don't expect it to be even close to my last. Two and a half stars doesn't do this place justice.

Only giving this place a 2 cuz our waiter was really nice. Unfortunately I don't know his name. The place is so bla... There was almost no one in the place when we went. Honestly there's nothing special about it. We went here for a manager meeting with our boss. And not to be gross but 3 outta 4 of us had bathroom problems within minutes after leaving here yesterday. We all basically had only a salad.. So something in the dressing or lettuce was obviously bad for 3 of us to have this problem. I don't recommend this place whatsoever. Prices are high also.

3 of us went on a Saturday early afternoon. There were not many customers but plenty of staff. We were seated in the high table section and the chairs were badly crowded. You couldn't pull the chair out enough without hitting the chairs behind you (which were pushed in). Luckily there wasn't a crowd of it would be difficult to be seated. The food was subpar. I ordered the fajitas and it didn't come with cheese!! I had to ask for it. Not sure if that is something normal or not but our waitress made it seem like cheese is not normally served. Other food ordered were the fish tacos, which lacked taste and also portion size, and the chicken enchilada which came out warm, not hot. Chips and salsa were ok which comes out after you are seated. Besides the food, the prices are pretty high for this type of establishment. There are a handful better restaurants to spend your cash at.

Chain restaurant Mexican. Everything has a sauce to it and nothing is really good. Some items are decent, but nothing to write home about. If you go, go for taco Tuesday where tacos are 2 for 1. At least you get more for your money. Drinks are average and over-priced, typical chain drinks but with more tequila features. Make your own guacamole is a good feature, even though the guacamole base is only fair. We tried almost every type of taco and all were average. I went for shrimp fajitas one time and they put a cream sauce of sort on it which I want prepared for. I just wanted standard fajitas.

Despite this restaurant's name, this is not what seems to be your new favorite Tex Mex spot. Fajita Republic does specialize in a great fajita variety, but has not left your other Mexican favorites off the menu. Great appetizer variety, long list of fajitas/tacos/enchiladas &- you guessed it - margaritas! Huge selection of tequila as well. This place even offers horchata, which I have yet to try. As with your other favorite Mexican restaurants, Fajita Republic does deliver chips & salsa to each table, but even this detail was not overlooked. Fresh chips in every basket, & the salsa has amazing taste - plenty of cilantro in each bite! I ordered beef enchiladas with a side of cilantro lime rice & refritos, both sides were delicious. I was happy to find my enchiladas NOT smothered in cheese, but a complex guajillo sauce. I could eat that sauce with everything. My review offers 4 stars due to several issues with calling ahead, poor communication & the long waiting period for my party's table. Understanding this is a new restaurant, I am willing to expect a little bit of chaos. Be advised Fajita Republic does not take reservations or call aheads. This first visit was muy bueno - will definitely be back soon!

  • Hilary Y.

The staff was amazing. I mean like, they actually seemed happy to be there, and that totally sets the whole mood of a meal. The drink selection is fantastic both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and to me the drink is equal in worth to the meal. Our food was good and just what we needed. Surprisingly we didn't get fajitas, (cantina bowl and tacos instead) but I will most definitely be back again to try one! Keep up the good work!

  • Bill B.

I have to give Fajita Republic an A for effort. As a vegetarian with a wife on a gluten-free diet, I appreciate all of the menu choices and labeling that they offer. I also like the idea of crafted Mexican food. This is not the long-banished Chi-Chi's or a fast-Mex place like Qdoba or Baja Fresh. With all of that promise, though, I came away a bit disappointed. Like a baseball pitcher who tries to nibble at the corners instead of trusting his stuff, Fajita Republic overdoes where doing would suffice. Spicing is way too much even in dishes not marked spicy. It overshadows rather than illuminates. The craft approach, so good in concept, is also too much at times. What would be nice little touches if done alone go to war with each other in combination. If I could say one word to this restaurant, I would be not in Spanish but Italian: simplice. Give us the same or similar choices with more subtlety. Trust your fresh ingredients. Back off on the spicing (especially the dueling kind). Within a selection, let a single craft theme and flavoring shine. You have a lot going for you (nice staff, abundant room and parking, accommodating menu). Deliver on your potential and I could become a Republican.

Why does this place have such a crappy rating? To start, 2 things in life make me happy. Tequila and Salsa. So I love any version of Mexican. The decor is really modern, cool, and spacious and their patio is roomy, not cramped. We did daytime and had portabella tacos and a shrimp cantina bowl. Both were awesome. 2 kinds of really fresh salsa, guacamole was great. And the drinks were unique and divine. Elder flower margaritas, hibiscus margaritas. Our waitress was relaxed, the manager/owner checked on us. All in all a perfect experience. Oh, and the bathroom sinks don't compare to anywhere else. Modern spins on classic Americanized Mexican food, totally awesome and will definitely go back.

  • Shannon M.

For what it's worth it's good. This isn't' authentic Mexican people. It's Americanized Mexican food. You cannot compare this place to any place in Mexico so get over that and appreciate it for what it is. My review is really 3.75 stars, but I rounded up since this place seems to have been given a bad rap. Look, when a place first opens, especially if it's not a big ole chain or a super fancy 5 star chef place, they will be issues. I don't like that, you don't, but we move on. I like to try to give the benefit of the doubt. It seems people who came here in the 1st few weeks had terrible service. A lot of the 1 or 2 star reviews are from people with not a lot of yelp reviews. When I see that I tend to try a place anyways. I'm glad I did. I came here on a Thursday at peak dinner hour. We were greeted right away and seated. Our waitress was awesome. She was on top of drinks and chips and salsa, as well as pointing out what she thought people favored etc..In other words she did her job and seemed to be very happy to be there and to serve us. Fantastic. Now the chips. They are coated in something. A spice that may be a chili powder. They were good and not greasy at all. It came with 1 salsa, and additional much larger bowls of salsa could be purchased for $1. They will ask if you want to take that home with more chips at the end of the meal, which since you're paying that's nice. On to the food. I got the chorizo enchiladas with cheese and a fried egg on it. It was good. Not my favorite chorizo ever but it definitely did have good flavor. The egg was perfectly cooked and the cheese was good too. Like I said overall solid. You get your choice of different types of rice and beans. I got the re fried beans which we spot on. The cilantro lime rice was okay, it needed much more lime and cilantro. I put a big spoon of the tomatillo salsa we got on it and I was pleased. I ended up taking 1/2 my meal home since I was full from chips and drinks. I think it will reheat well with a lil added cheese My friend got the chicken tacos and she said they were great. She had the black beans which she was raving about. She also had the same rice, and agreed it needed more. Just okay. Overall I'd definitely return. There's a lot of choices on the menu and you will find something to suit you.

Absolutely love this place! Been coming since they opened and have never had a bad meal. Staff is friendly and fun! Behind the bar Jeremy and Ashley are the best. As far as being "authentic", well the food is excellent! If you think Taco Bell is "authentic" Mexican, then this is probably not your place. But if you are looking for good food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a full bar - Fajita Republic is your place.

Hubs and I went here for our post-workout meal. It was busy since it was opening week, but we were able to grab a table. The chips and salsa were good. I got the cantina shrimp bowl and it wasn't as flavorful as I expected. I don't usually get seafood items or even bowls usually, so I'm not sure if maybe this was up to par with usual seafood fajita bowls. My husband got the wet burrito and he described the meat as comparable to Taco Bell meat. We were disappointed in that aspect. We've been to places like Imperial in Ferndale and I think I expected this place to be a somewhat similar and 'authentic'-ish. If that's what you are looking for, this is not the place. I do hope to visit again and try something different on the menu. Opening week isn't the best time to judge a new place. My experience with their customer service was amazing, though. Our server seemed new but was thoroughly making sure we had everything we need. Will visit again and do an update review.

Read some mediocre reviews and so I passed on this place for a year now. Today we decided to try it and I have to say, it was great. We came for lunch and had the wet burrito. Definitely awesome! We'll be back

Music was too loud when we were seated. A few minutes before we were leaving some young guy went behind the bar and blasted a song that he started rocking out to. I mean BLASTED. It was so loud, we actually couldn't hear what we were saying to each other at the table. The prices were so/so. My carne asada (steak taco) might have been tasty had it been served hot and not at room temperature. The chips and salsa were very good. My meal at $9.00 came with two very small tacos, and two sides. I chose lime rice and refried beans. I had to ask for a little bit of cheese on the beans as no cheese came with the beans. My beans were cold, the very little strands of cheese would not melt on my beans. My rice was cold and bland. The atmosphere was nice, except for the annoying way too loud music. The lay-out inside is identical to the previous restaurant CHAMPS. The service was fine. Big bad issue: My brother said he went to the restroom to wash his hands. He lathered up only to discover there was no running water in either sink. He had to wipe his hands off with towels and no water to clear the soap. He said the toilets did flush. Too many other choices in the area to want to return here.

Yum, best Mexican food ever!!! The staff and management are dedicated to fast, fresh, friendly food service and top-quality ingredients. Even have their own specially blended tequila. Thanks Jeremy and Vanessa!!!

We decided to have lunch here on Sunday afternoon. My husband loves fajitas! So we get sat and the waitress approached. I ask her a few questions about the several salsas.....crickets! She has no idea about them. Ok, no biggie, we order. The food comes, it's awful! Not just a little bad....it's cold and terrible! 2 chicken fajita bowls, awful! My 24 hr marinated flat iron steak fajitas are so well done that they're grey! The service was terrible. I'll give this place 3 months until it's for lease again. But to be honest, they didn't put any money into renovations, so it shouldn't break the bank to just close down. Very disappointing

This is an all fresh nothing frozen restaurant chain out of Grand Rapids, MI. They squeeze it, juice it, chop it, dice it and it makes a big difference. We asked for recommendations as the staff had tried everything on the menu prior to opening today. The servers knew the full menu as you could hear the banter at all the tables. We ordered chicken flautas for a starter. There are three and big enough to share. They are cooked to perfection, flaky and cheesy with shredded most chicken. We shared the Mexican coke and oj marinated pork carnita fajitas. This was very tasty. The meat was moist, flavorful and the assorted veggies were not overcooked. The spices and veggies used were not the usual and it was refreshing to eat something reinvented. The crispy jicama, mildly spicy poblano pepper and pickled onions give the fajitas a nice spin. Last but not least I must mention the freshly made chips and salsa. Nice crunchy chips lightly salted and not too thick however the salsa stole the show. It was made from scratch and tasted like my girlfriends grandmother's, the real deal. I'll be back, the drink menu needs to be explored and so do the FLIGHTS OF TEQUILA!

  • Jennifer B.

Service was ok. A little slow. Black diamond margarita was very good. Chicken flauta appetizer was very good. My sour cream was liquid by the time I got it though, that was disappointing. Chorizo fajitas were good. The meat was spicy and tasty, but there should have been more of it. The hot plate was mostly peppers. Husband had the flat iron steak fajitas which he thought were very good. The steak was cooked perfectly. The cantina rice was bland and blah. Cool atmosphere. This will be a cool place to have a margarita at in the summer. They have a patio area and whole section that opens up with garage doors. Very cool. Felt that it was a little pricey.

First time at Fajita Republic. Luckily we only had to wait about 15 minutes. They text you when waiting for a table and you can download and app called NoWait and see how many parties are ahead of you which is really cool. It also says that you can "get in line" from the app which is basically call ahead. Onto the food. The salsa and chips are absolutely amazing! The rest was just OK. I ordered the Cinco queso quesadillas which were good but could have used more cheese. When you hear cinco, one would assume that it would be oozing with cheese but that was not the case. My 7 yr old ordered the cheese quesadillas from the kids menu and it looked exactly like mine but hers was half the price and came with a drink and two sides! Was disappointed to find that I had to ask for the small side of sour cream and guacamole that you normally get with quesadillas everywhere else!

I can't even give this place a star. I'm a huge fan of Mexican and Tex-mex style fare and the only positive was the chips and salsa. It was Sunday evening when we went and the place was nearly empty. Our server barely came back to the table after dropping off the initial drinks and taking our food order. I had to walk over to the server station and interrupt our server and ask for a refill. Our food a wet burrito, surf and turf quesadilla and chicken enchiladas was flavorless. The plate presentation was nice enough but the food was a major disappointment as was the service. The manager Juan was very kind and tried to appease us with a gift certificate, but it was so bad that I cannot waste my time coming back

As a lover of street tacos, I was excited to see that a new restaurant was opening that promised great Mexican fare. The chips and salsa was very good but other than that I did not enjoy my food or my margarita. I ordered a margarita and chose the strawberry flavor: When I got it, the margarita tasted like they had just added strawberry vodka in the mix and it did not mix well. I was disappointed to see that their selection of taco choices weren't that expansive and that I was not allowed to mix and match different taco choices, which is half the reason you order street style tacos. I ordered the Mexican Coke Carnitas and added an extra taco of the Tequila Lime Chicken. Both came out looking amazing, but their fancy appearance did not translate to a fancy taste. They tasted mild, lacking in flavor and didn't impress me at all. The only flavor I tasted on either was the slew of salsas they placed on top. I then tried the flat iron steak tacos, which my mom had ordered, and was equally as disappointed. Overall, the restaurant wasn't BAD but it definitely wasn't memorable and I most likely won't be returning.

Meh, confused and too loud. Waitress was unclear about the ingredients and menu. The menu itself is pretty large and has too brief explanations. The food was ok. We asked that the music be turned down so we could hear our table companions and we were told they did, but we still couldn't chat comfortably. The "Make Your Own Guac" was disappointing. The Guac that came to be dressed had very little avocado, was full onions, and came on a small portion. The chips were not drained and very greasy. Some were overly salty and others flavorless.

I would like to start this off by giving Charlie and Jeremy props for showing our group of 7 girls a good time. Charlie was our waiter and took great care of us. FR was pretty busy for a Wednesday night and our dinner didn't take long at all to come out. We all got different margaritas and they tasted good. The food was the only downfall of this visit. Very bland and small portions of protein but huge portions of veggies. The veggie part is nice but for the higher prices at this establishment I would have expect more meat for the fajitas. CHARLIE AND JEREMY GET 5 STARS!

I've done a lot today and don't really have the effort to write a review, but yeah, this place sucks. Here is the skinny...I got the create your own guacamole. The mashed avocados were already turning brown when they brought it to me. It needed some lime juice. I know I'm the person who ultimately mixed the ingredients, but it just wasn't good. Cool concept, but I would have stayed home and cooked if I wanted to make my own guacamole, which is much better than yours. I did like the chips and salsa. The house margarita was average. The worst part was my cheese and onion enchiladas. They were nasty. I never had enchiladas that I did not like. I could not finish these. Which, in and of itself is telling fact as the portion size was laughably tiny. I must admit, I did not believe the bad reviews. How can Mexican food really be that bad? The staff was all very friendly. That is why they got two stars instead of one. If you're like me and want to go find out how it is for yourself, go on a Tuesday. They have specials on tacos.

When you go out to eat at a Mexican restaurant, you tend to expect certain things -- the smell and sounds of fajitas sizzling as they are brought out to waiting customers, hearing Latino music, your waitstaff greeting you with chips and salsa. This second location of Fajita Republic has some of these features, but not all. My wife and I decided to see what this location is about today. Seated fairly quickly, we were greeted and Nick our waiter took our drink order. No chips, no salsa. The lunch menu has an array of tacos, burritos, salads, and fajitas available. Plus, you can still order from the dinner menu if nothing catches your fancy. We also noticed old school rhythm and blues musics blaring over the sound system. Acceptable to me, but not part of the typical ambiance one would find in a Mexican place. For some reason it feels like the ghost of Champps Restaurant is still haunting the place. LOL We both chose chicken lime fajitas when Nick was ready to take our order, but still no chips, no salsa. After coming back to check on us, finally we were asked if we wanted chips and salsa. Of course we would! We got a nice basket of chips and a small salsa bowl. The salsa was not at all spicy, but flavorful. I asked later for a step up and got pico de gallo. (There are apparently a whole array of salsa heat available, including use of ghost peppers!) Both types, BTW, had its share of garlic taste, so be aware. When the fajitas arrived, they were still sizzling - a good sign. Both were drizzled with what we were told were a ranch type of sauce over it. Ask for it without if that's not your thing. Also, I noted a couple of previous reviews commented on the serving size. I can assure you that they serve you more than enough. Strangely, the food was very good, but it still did not wow me. All of it was freshly made, not GFS. But I could have done without the sauce over the fajitas. Plus, I thought it was unusual not to provide cheese, lettuce, and tomato as part of the side dishes. And the plates reminded me of the old fashioned school lunch tray with places for each side dish. Bottom line -- good food, but all menu items from what I see around me have a little ingredient twist added to them. Ambiance what not what is expected in a typical Mexican restaurant. Service was not an issue - Nick was a good waiter checking back on us as appropriate. Did not try the adult beverages, so I cannot comment on those. But I think by the crowd that this will be a successful addition to the Hall Road restaurant choices. But I would rather have something more traditional.

Wow, this place just melted my face with how great it was. The waitress: Teresa knew the menu inside and out and gave great suggestions. The drinks were top notch and will not leave you disappointed. Then there is the food; It is amazing. The fajitas will leave you wanting more. Come here and you will be glad.

My Sister, Husband and I went here for lunch for the first time. All three of us ordered something different and all three of us were very disappointed in the taste, quality and price of the food. DO NOT order anything with Chorizo, it was disgusting. The waitress was friendly at first and then was nowhere to be found once our food arrived. Save your money and go to Mexican Village or El Charro's.

I was surprised to see this place was so dead on a Friday at 6:30, once I ate it explained everything. Besides the delicious salsa and margaritas this place has very little to be desired. My chorizo enchiladas were of the generic variety, re fried beans were dry and out of a can and my rice was left over from lunch. Why would I ever come here again when Mexican Village is a mile up the road.

What a horrible horrible horrible establishment. We went on a Sunday night at 7. It was a ghost town. There was only 2 other tables and a ton of staff. We sat down. Told the waitress we were there for my mothers birthday and it was our first time. Great? Nope not so great. 7 adults, 7 dinners and 7 epic fails. She Our meals were all cold. Fajita wasn't even warm. the melted cheese on 2 dishes was so cold and hard you could peel it off. The chicken in my tacos was so burnt you couldn't even bite into it. We tried to explain it to the waitress and she said "it looks warm" really? We did eventually get all 7 meals removed off our bill. But what a waste and a shame.

Margarita was very good. Fajitas was every bit as medicore as the margarita was good. Somewhat skimpy on the amount of chicken and what was there was very tough and chewy. Chips and salsa were good. If I am just having drinks and chips, I will go back, but a mediocre fajitas when that is your name, maybe think twice about that one.

Excellent chips. Hot salsa was awesome w some ghost chilis. Chicken fajitas were excellent. Great margarita. All fresh lime no crappy mixers. Will be back!

Ordered carry out last night and it was super disappointing. I ordered the ultimate fajita salad for myself and tequila lime chicken fajitas for my husband and we were sent home with no salad dressing and no tortillas. What we did have to eat was cold, bland and nothing worth returning for. We would have been better off picking up Chipotle.

The food is good. The service is good. The atmosphere is fine. The portion sizes are pretty laughable. While it was delicious, I had enough meat for about 1 good-sized fajita. Didn't leave thinking my $15 was well-spent. I'm not the only person that thinks this either. Some lunatic sitting next to us was complaining to the manager for about 20 min about the poor value. Lots of competition in the Mexican food game here in Macomb County. I suggest you guys rethink your meat stinginess before people leave and don't come back.

We tried it out a week after they had opened. The servers not so good. We ordered the DIY guacamole and she forgot one of the salsas and didn't even know it. I also ordered a soup and she completely forgot about that too. I had the Mexican cola tacos. They were OK. My brother had the Tequila-Lime Fajita and he said that was great. I really don't like that they don't have al a carte. If you want to try one of the tacos, you have to order a whole meal. They are losing money on add ons there. We might go back after they have been open a while longer. But it is not going to be the first place I think of going.

Been there twice and will never return!! Everything is weird! The Menu, the staff the whole concept of it's done their way... I just want good Mexican food man... what is so hard about that? When I go to other Mexican Restaurants, I get Beans and Rice too!!! Or I should say... At least I get both Beans and Rice... I don't have to chose!!! Man, how much money are beans and rice anyway that you only get one!!!! This place you get some weird concoction of their way!!! I don't want it your way, I want Mexican Food!!! Listen, I lived in Arizona.. where Mexican food is everywhere and there was never a place that did it their way!!! Too confusing, too mixed up and man, your staff should never hang out at a table and drink with each other and make fun of customers when they come in... we sat there listening to their staff talking and drinking and eating and making fun of customers in the place!!! Most of them are young teens, maybe early 20's and tattooed from head to toe was this one server who was rubbing all over this other server girl at the table like sex was about to break out between the two girls!!! Then they started trash talking the patrons in the dining area!!! I was shocked and appalled. This is a mixed up place trying to be hip... stay away... the ship is already sinking, don't get sucked down with the current!!! Another thing, I use to be a nightclub DJ up the road at the Brickhouse which is now Hatchy's, and I am use to loud music... this place is so loud I can't even think or talk to my beautiful woman... just a broken, tasteless place allowing bad food and bad employees sink it!!! Go to Mexican Village.... stay away from here... only people that like this place are the ones that use to like Champs...

we have been here twice since they opened (fairly recently) and both times experienced great service and a great meal. I got the American tacos both times and my only issue with the food was that the menu describes the tacos as having a generous amount of cheese and both times, it was scant. The salsa is good as is the cheese dip. My husband had the wet burrito on our second visit and fajitas on our first. Both were good. The fajita selection is a bit more for the adventurous as it's not your basic fajitas, although I'm sure you could get them that way if you wished. We will be back and continue to explore the menu.

After reading the reviews we almost didn't stop in, but we were in the mood for Mexican food and decided to try it. A lot of the negative reviews spoke about loud music and high prices, neither of which we had any problems with. The menu had good choices (3 variations of nachos!) and the prices seemed to be low, not sure what price expectations were of other reviewers but when you can get an entire meal with drinks for two people under $40, I think the price is pretty cheap (we've lived on both the East and West coasts, where on average the same meal would cost $60-$70). The food came rather quickly and we had absolutely no issues carrying on a conversation. The food was well presented and it was very good. Our server, Ashley [sp?], was friendly and had a positive and welcoming attitude, which I feel is very important in building a great meal experience. My only negative concerns our seating arrangement. The hostess wanted to sit us at a high table, when neither my wife nor I are very tall (I don't like having to jump or climb into my seat, only to have to jump off when it's time to leave). I wish they would have had better judgement in that (we had an early dinner, so there were lots of tables available). Other than that, we're going to be repeat customers and head back up there in a week or two.

I decided to give this place a chance. I know and understand that they just opened. Coming from someone who has worked in this industry before, service wasn't anything to rave about. After we finished our meals our dirty plates just sat there. I wasn't asked if I would like another drink. I wasn't happy with the service so much that I just couldn't leave a tip and I always leave 21% . The food I wasn't happy with. I had the 24hour flat iron steak fajitas. Steak was cooked perfectly but no taste . I have had better fajitas at Chili's. I really hate to leave a bad review but I actually had high hopes for this place.

Everything was just ok. I had the chicken enchiladas and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. The enchiladas were ok, the soup was disappointing, it tasted like minestrone and wasn't very hot. My boyfriend got fajitas of some sort and said they were just ok. Overall it's just ok, nothing special. Another hall road restaurant that falls short of expectations.

It was an interesting place, nothing spectacular, nothing negative. We were seated within 10 minutes. Service was good for such a new establishment, waitress was polite and was very good about checking on us. Food was good, it didn't exactly jump out at me as amazing. But it was quite good and very well presented. Will be visiting again!

Came here for the first time today and I wast impressed at all . It's just not flavorful. I tried the chicken tinga tacos and they were eh not something to brag about . My husband also didn't care for his flat iron steak . Our server offered a free taco for my husband after bring the first one under cooked but didn't take it . Natchos wrt ok . So over all we probably wouldn't come back but the salsa and chips you get for free were good . Also the server rayan was very nice and tried his best to make us try something else . Service was best thing at this place,

Surprised why some people gave this place bad ratings. The food was delicious, I'm a fan of Mexican food (I've eaten at authentic mexican restaurants before) and although theyre not authentic, they are still pretty delicious. If you are looking for authentic try las tortugas on van dyke. I ordered the tacos and thought they were amazing. In comparison to Rojo, Esplendido & Mexican Village, this place is better. Their chips were warm & tasted homemade and the salsa was good. The service was good, the bartenders were really funny & friendly. I recommend going here :)

Love the food. The host was great and server as well. Guacamole was ok , not as fresh as I was expecting but the taste was good. I ordered the cantina salad with grill chicken the size was perfect for lunch time and the vinaigrette dressing was DELICIOUS . The cantina bowl is really good as well . Good tequila selection . I definitely recommend the skinny margarita.

I'll give this joint 4 stars. The food is delicious. I had the Mexican coke carnitas tacos. The flavor was really sweet and delicious...complete with pickled onions. The meat was brazed in Mexican coke and orange juice. Quite the delight. The atmosphere and service was really good as well. If you want some decent TX mex...this could be your place. It's definitely not unique...but it's good.

I went there on a Tuesday, so I took advantage of the BOGO tacos. Upon taking a bite of our tacos, my mom and I thought we were served the incorrect tacos. When we asked the server what kind of tacos were in front of us, he said he didn't know. So I told him that I didn't think they were the tacos that we ordered, at which point he asked me what we ordered. Although he should have known, I told him and asked him to replace them. The manager came over and since the incorrect tacos were still on the table, I asked him what kind they were. He thought long and hard about it and replied"Um, flour...?". I told him I wanted to know about the tacos, not the tortillas--by the way, they were corn tortillas. He, like the server, had no idea what kind of tacos these were. Our order was replaced with presumably the correct tacos. They were neither good nor bad. They were bland and flavorless and boring. It should be noted that we were there during Happy Hour. My mom enjoyed her $5 margarita. I had a draft beer. When we received the bill, my beer was charged at full price rather than the Happy Hour price. When I showed this to the server, he asked me what price the beer should be. Well, I'm not an employee, but I told him anyway...how could he not know? He explained that they don't have a way to ring in beer at Happy Hour prices and that the manager had to fix it. 15 minutes later, he brings the adjusted check which showed a $1 deduction. How many people have been overcharged for beer but paid it because they did not notice? Food was mediocre at best, service was something to be desired. If you dine here during Happy Hour, please look at your bill to verify that you are being charged properly for your drinks.

If I could give it no stars I would. The first time we went the service was as bad as the food. So I of course sent off an email to corporate and got a reply within an hours time, wow, much better than the service in the restaurant!! And i told them that as well. LMAO!!! So they sent us a $20 gift certificate to give them another try. So today we took the kids and went back. My daughter who only eats plain beef tacos with a hard shell, nothing on them at all wouldn't eat them after the first bite, said the meat tasted weird. My son who normally eats everything in front of him only ate one of his American Tacos, said they weren't very good. My husband and I got the Wet Burritos, his was the chicken and mine was the steak. We had to ask for more sauce so it was an actual WET Burrito!! My husband and I barely ate half of each of our burritos.. His he said in his words was like eating bulk, no flavor at all. And my steak one was the same along with being chewy and tough. From now on we will go to Mexican Village on Van Dyke... Always guaranteed to get a great meal there. Also my husband asked me not to call back and complain, please God he said don't do it!!!

Not sure why some of these reviews are Bad. My wife and I came tonight for the first time. It met and exceeded our expectations. Food and service were excellent. I had the fajitas(chicken and steak combo). My wife had the Wet Burrito. We will definitely be returning!

Don't waste your money. The only thing worth eating was the chips and salsa. We received our appetizer the same time as our meal. I ordered fajitas thinking they would be delicious since it's called fajita republic but I was wrong. You get a platter of peppers and onions and enough chicken for one fajita. Beer was barely cold. My kids wouldn't eat the kids tacos which they normally love. I gave them one star only because I couldn't leave no stars.

Ridiculous wait time for food. When I got it, it wasn't the right order and contained onions... which I made clear that I'm allergic to. The place was so loud that the waitress could barely hear me.

  • Lisa H.

Service was good. Food tasted okay, but portions were way too small for the prices. The ghost chili salsa wasn't any hotter than the spicy stuff at Del Taco. AND you have to pay for salsa if you want anything other than the house variety. Margerita's were terrible! Small, zero alcohol, and super sweet.

Great place and great atmosphere. Our server was Michael. Very attentive to the table and quick with getting the food out. This was our first time here so we weren't sure what was good Michael gave really good recommendations and our meal was fantastic. Is this authentic Mexican? No but it's not the type of place you go if you want authenticity. It's a great blend of Tex Mex fusion. We will definitely be back. Make sure to ask for Michael.

This place in all honesty is terrible. I give it a few months before they close down or change it to something else. The service was terrible. Breanna our waitress was unfortunately very dumb. We asked her for a ghost pepper salsa and she said they didn't have any. I kindly asked her to go check and she came back and told me they didn't have any but they did have a ghost pepper salsa. WTF that's what I asked for in the first place. So she asked me if I wanted that and I said yes. She came back with a plain salsa and I asked her where my ghost pepper salsa was and she told me that was an extra charge. I said forget about it. Every time they bring a salsa out it is added on the bill. We ordered about 20 tacos for the buy one get one free Tuesdays, they have a dumb rule about those. It has to be the same exact taco that you ordered. Which that is very dumb because they should make it where you can choose two different tacos and the cheaper one of the two is free. You can't even make one hard shell and one soft shell. They really need to work on that. The quality and taste of the food is just horrid. I rather go to taco bell and pay for a regular stepped on taco supreme for $1.29. The meat is cold, they put to much unnecessary toppings on it that don't even go good with the tacos. The steak taco is also terrible. The steak was very cold and very chewy like a never ending gobstopper. Just wait till the food hits you, that's the worst part.

Good place for margaritas and American Mexican food. Nice remodel of the old Champs restaurant. Tuesday night taco special is a bargain good meal and a drink for $10. And a very impressive list of tequila. Visited two times and nothing objectionable either visit.

So glad we discovered this place for Taco Tuesdays! They have buy one get one free tacos, with lots of varieties to choose from. All of the ones I've tried so far have been delicious, but the shrimp tacos are my favorite. And most importantly their margaritas are on point. The restaurant is very clean with a modern atmosphere, and a really nice bar area. Ashely has been our server the last few times we've been in and she is awesome! Definitely looking forward to spending many more Tuesday nights here.

Bad, bad, bad. This is some of the worst food I've had anywhere. The chips and salsa are bad, very salty and the salsa is more like cilantro flavored tomato paste. We had the nachos and enchiladas, both awful. My son had the tacos, which were even bad. The dessert we took to go, the pina colada pastry, was far and away the most awful thing I've tasted ever. It had both savory and sweet flavors, odd for something pina colada flavored. I can't even describe how odd the flavor was, just plain awful. None of the food flavors fit well together. All entrees served came to our table cold. Save your money and go to Taco Bell. I would be surprised if this restaurant has any repeat customers.

Terrible food! Not sure what they are going for here but it is terrible. It's sad because the place is cool and the margaritas are good and the chips are decent. The service was pretty good. Then all went downhill from there. Ordered the $10.00 guacamole app. The avocado was not fresh, rancid. They removed it from our bill no problem. The fajitas were very small for 16.99 and not steaming like they should have been. I bit into to carnitas and it was a bal of fat and had a weird flavor. The chicken was so-so but overcooked. The pinto beans were more like baked beans and the rice is just overcooked white rice. Also got the wet burrito which had a burnt tasting sauce on it. If you like authentic mexican food, do not go here....unless you just want to drink a margarita. So sorry. I wish it were good because it would be nice to have good mexican food around here.

Me and my girlfriend went there on a Tuesday night. The place wasn't busy at all but the service sucked as well as the food. This place will more than likely be closed by the end of 2015, if that. The food was bland. I ordered steak fajita, no taste and chewy. They mixed in a lot of weird ingredients that made no sense. My girlfriend ordered a fish taco and she said it was disgusting. The sides were bad as well. The rice was old and hard, no flavor. The only thing that was good was the chips and salsa. Like one other reviewer said "Taco Bell is better" The waitress was slow and seemed that she just didn't want to be there. No passion, like a zombie from the walking dead. If the owners from this restaurant are reading these reviews they may want to fix the issues with the food and staff because they for sure will close.

Prices are slightly high. Service is slow. Food is meh. We waited over 10 minutes to see a server after being sat. We ordered soft drinks, water, soup, the salsa sampler and fajitas. The soup came out 20 minutes after sitting down, but we still didn't have anything to drink. We were then told that they were completely out of diet cola. The soup seemed like it had been microwaved- cold and hot spots. Even after mixing it, it wasn't beyond lukewarm. The highlight of the meal was the pineapple jalapeno salsa. Delicious! The fajitas were okay. More like something you'd get at a generic chain, not somewhere that specialized in them. The red rice was cold and bland. It tasted like someone sprinkled rice with taco seasoning. The table we sat at was so small, we had to stack things, it couldn't hold the food! To top it off, all the lights in the parking lot were off. An older patron was having a hard time getting back to her car without falling. We won't be back.

My girl and I go to a taco place out in Ferndale on the regular that specializes in gourmet tacos. I think most of the negative responses on here are from people expecting more of a mexican village type food. In my opinion, mexican village ain't got shiz on FR. House margarita and salsa are my go to staples and the carne asada tacos are amazing. I've eaten there 3 times now in 2 weeks and I'm returning tonight. Attentive servers with personalities that seem to enjoy where they work.

Went on an early Sunday afternoon. Maybe 2 other parties were there as well. Waitress took 20 min to bring us our drinks. 45 min later I tell the waitress the food is taking really long... She says "lemme go check how long it's actually been". My jaw dropped. Food comes wrong an hour later. I told our waitress that everything was basically a mess.. She tells the manager who couldn't even make eye contact with me and he hands me the desert menu and says "sorry" everyone who worked there was just standing around and the manager was VERY unprofessional. This place is a disappointment.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla.
