I'm a fan. This place does all it can to be a great bar. First of all, it's got two levels. So you can be chill at the downstairs bar or you can get rowdy at the upstairs bar. Sometimes in the summer they even add an outdoor bar. The upstairs is larger, with a bar/dance floor area and then a seating area with a fireplace. Honestly, it's really well set up. There's a DJ on Saturday nights and always a little bit of dancing going on. I've always found the service here to be pretty good. There are only about three bars in downtown Utica, so I've been here quite a bit. Food is delicious for a bar. A friend hosted a catered birthday party here once as well, and the food was even good catered for a group. Have to give a shout out to the loaded chili. This is hands down the best chili you will ever have. It's topped with cheese and giant chunks of bacon. You literally cannot go wrong ordering this dish at any time of the day.

My friend and I came In here yesterday for dinner and drinks. We arrived around 7pm and sat at the bar. We were greeted immediately and got out drinks quickly without having to wait, which is awesome! We ordered the feast which is all 5 meats and two sides. Everything was so good! So much flavor in all the meats! It was pulled chicken, pulled pork, hot sausage, ribs and brisket! Everything is smoked on site and you can really tell a difference. We will be back!

I came here the other day after a commercial I heard on Really?!, the Internet radio show on caveradiobroadcasting.com , and it was amazing. The motor city sauce paired well with every meat I had on the ultimate feast. The macaroni and cheese was great and I couldn't get enough of the sweet potato fries when I dipped them in the Alabama sauce. Quick side note on that ultimate feast platter. It definitely is enough for two but the pulled pork was my main surprise. Usually a pulled pork will be fatty, but not this one. They have a decent draught selection but the Michigan liquors are what caught me off guard. Just about every one offered they have. Definitely check this place out. I'm a fan and I'll be back.

Turned away (along with another group) again because the downstairs are was full. No one even bothered to come over to the waiting area to let us know how long it would be for a seat. Good food, horrible service and management.

Been going here for over 2 years and I love the place. The service is top notch and the food is awesome. If you are looking for a good bbq for a causal dinner this is the place to go. And if you are looking for a night out with friends just walk upstairs. This place has the best of both worlds good food and good nightlife on the weekend. They also have a small patio outside ans if you don't feel like sitting outside they can open up the garage door and you can feel the breeze without actually being outside.

I was in town with some friends and we stopped at this place. I got a brisket sandwich which was pretty good. My friend got a whole rack of ribs which seemed to be boiled, everyone knows you shouldn't boil ribs.

A nice, local BBQ gem in downtown Utica. Two levels, with a tamer main floor, and louder upper level. My brother and I picked up an ultimate BBQ feast with 5 different meats and 2 sides. The meats were on point, cooked well and slow and packed plenty of flavor. If I remember correctly, they had pulled pork, 6-7 bones of ribs, some brisket, half a BBQ chicken, and some grilled sausages. There was plenty of meat for about 4-5 people to share, but what disappointed me was that the side of their famous, tasty mac & cheese was tiny, about sized for 2. I feel that an ultimate feast that feeds 4-5 people easily should have an accordingly sized mac & cheese. This was a sad surprise upon opening up our food parcel at home, and not worth diving back to get more. And thus the group of us each had about a heaping tablespoon of their delicious mac & cheese. The cornbread size was sized well for about 4 people, so not bad. I had added a $4.99 large size of fries to my order and these fries were delicious! Had a nice crust to them, not so seasoned, but so tasty. Wonder if they are cooked in lard or something? Who cares. Anyways, overall the best BBQ smokehouse in very close proximity to Utica. But this place does not touch Bad Brads up the road in Shelby Township. Bad Brads of Shelby is my favorite BBQ north of I-696, with Lazybones of Roseville being a close runner-up. But if you are part of the foot traffic in downtown Utica or real closeby, give Hogs Hollow a chance. I still give them 2 thumbs up.

What can I say, they are my go to barbeque place. I get to go from there a lot. The quality and consistency is outstanding. The hogs rolls are superb, the firecrackers are money. The brisket, pulled pork, etc etc fantastic. The sides are good......love their sauces. Crap it is 9 AM and I am hungry and they open at 4 PM I believe sighhhhh. Anyway they have barbeque pizzas that are outstanding! Great staff. Give them a try.

Went for lunch on Thursday and it was Happy Hour all day but Bloody Mary was not included. We ordered them anyway and the price was outrageous...$8.50 each. I never paid that much for a Bloody Mary anywhere let along a BBQ place! Lunch was so-so. Pulled pork sandwich was OK...a little dry. The pulled chicken and avocado sandwich was a joke. The "pulled chicken" had been grilled chicken breast that was cut into pieces. No sauce, no seasoning, no taste! Stars are for the service.

We went to this spot because reynard said a beautiful woman works here. I very much enjoyed the open aire in the front room. The graceful waitress, Sol, recommended the pretzel hogie brisket sandwich and it was amazing. We also loved the sweet potato fries and mac and cheese. Probably the best thing here was the mac and cheese. Great bbq sauces and a great ambiance. Service with a very warm smile! Thanks Sol!

Stopped in our way to a concert. Food was awesome! Got the brisket and ribs, the brisket was to die for. Service was a bit slow as it took over a half hour to get our food, and it wasn't busy at all. Slow service aside, I will certainly be back, the food is worth it.

I had St. Louis style ribs, baked beans and mac and cheese. The ribs were great as well as the mac and cheese, the beans were good but a little too sweet for my taste. The service was good, the problem was computers were down so the servers were having to run up and down stairs. Stairs, that is the biggest problem in this building! It is in no way shape or form handicap accessible. I plan to go back, because the pulled pork looks pretty delicious as well.

This place was awesome, the food was some of the best BBQ in the state, and the Bartender/Manager Reggie was extremely nice, he made our experience 10x better and the Motor City BBQ sauce was the bomb, made in house !!!!!! We will definitely come back !!!!!

I had high hopes for this place but sadly it was a disappointing experience. Had the ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Ribs were dry, and had no flavor to them as they were not sauced or rubbed with anything. The brisket was only lightly smoked and was tough, brisket is a difficult dish to make correctly but I expect a restaurant with "smokehouse" in the name to get it right. The pulled pork was decent but only mildly seasoned. The other major issue with this place was the service. Very very slow. I was one if only 5 people in the establishment when I arrived. I placed my order and waited almost 30 mins for the food to come out. As the place filled up the service got even worse. Don't bother stopping in unless you have a lot of time on your hands.

We were thinking about BBQ and happen to drive by. My wife enjoyed the pulled pork, it wasn't shredded which is good and a few pieces had a nice bark. The mac and cheese was pretty good as well. I had a burger with the pulled pork which was good. I liked being able to try a variety of sauces.

Try the Hog Rolls, with a side of the Motor City sauce. The food was great, along with the service. Would definitely recommend, and will for sure stop again. Wished they sold their sauces, but they are nice enough to send samples home with you.

Wow! I just got back from a fabulous meal at Hogs Hollow Smokehouse. I passed the pIace a thousand times but this was my first time. I had the pulled pork its was perfect not dry or tough and veggies were done to perfection as well and the Mac&Cheese was out of this world the best I ever had anywhere. There are a lot of places claim their mac&cheese is the best but the place is the real deal. The service was great as well very attentive. I am going back.

My husband and I love barbecue so we wanted to try this place out. We had the pulled pork sandwiches and the fried green tomatoes and onion rings. Everything disappointed. pork was terribly dry and looked old, like it had been around for several days before our visit. All the food lacked proper seasoning, and even adding their sauces didn't help. Save your money for Genuine BBQ and go to Bad Brad's instead.

We were very much looking forward to great beer and barbecue. Unfortunately, we found neither at Hogs Hollow. We arrived on Saturday night at 7pm and were quickly seated upstairs. Our server quickly came to the table and asked if we'd like to order drinks. I asked what IPAs they had on draft. He told me that they had none. I then inquired about IPAs in bottles. He said there were none. He told me that they had 30 different bottled beers so I asked for a beer list. He told me that there was none. I was tempted to keep him there for hours while I ran though every beer that I liked, just to prove a point. It's tough to guess what beers they have. I'm not sure if he was lazy or they really don't have a list. Neither is good. A couple of us ordered the pulled-pork Po Boys. They were bland. The food wasn't awful, but it wasn't very good either. We had the fried green tomato appetizer, it was bland. The quesadilla appetizer was pretty good. Don't waste your time, folks.
