Their lobster "game" isn't borderline animal cruelty - it's completely blatantly obvious animal cruelty. Most people who think of themselves as real hunters don't agree with any sort of caged in, fenced in hunting - which is exactly what this is. Using an electronic arcade game to try to pluck lobsters from the water to promptly get cooked up... very cruel. Torturing and tormenting these animals just for fun even if you're not planning on catching it and cooking it... very cruel. Installing one of these contraptions in your restaurant and allowing this behavior to rage on... very cruel. Choosing to spend your dining dollars at a place like this... well, just think of it as financing cruelty. BOTTOM LINE: Think again. It's really not so hard to find a decent place around here that doesn't showcase animal cruelty right at their front door. If this is what's going on in the front lobby, what's going on in the back kitchen?

I'd give this place a 3.5 star review if I could, but that isn't an option. So I am giving it 4 stars since I think it has been unfairly maligned by some of the previous reviewers due to the lobster game. For those of you who have not been to Mallie's and don't know exactly what we are talking about here, Mallie's has a arcade sort-of "claw" game where contestants can, for $2.00, maneuver a metal claw over and into a tank full of lobsters in an attempt to capture one. If successful, Mallie's will cook up your lobster for you. While I agree that this isn't "hunting," I'm not sure that really matters. Neither is buying a package of frozen hamburger from the corner store. But no one is complaining about Kroger's here. Look, if you eat meat (flesh from land, sea or air creatures), this game really should not bother you unless you are extremely naive as to where your food comes from. After all, the animal that became your dinner was once plucked up, killed, processed and cooked to feed you. Is it any more or less humane because this game allows you to land a hand in killing the animal you are about to eat? Of course not. If that bothers you, become a vegetarian. But don't blame Mallie's for putting the savagery in the open for every one to see. As to the non-lobster aspects of Mallie's, this place is, as described by an earlier reviewer, a pretty typical downriver bar. I did, however, find the food to be rather good relatively speaking. I really enjoyed the BBQ bacon burger (that's a dead cow and a dead pig that were both butchered for me, but by some one else when I wasn't around... so it's OK I guess). The fajitas were good and the french dip also drew rave reviews from another member of our party. I'd stay away from the chili though since it was pretty much just watered down tomato soup without much spice. The service was good and the price was reasonable. Plenty of TVs and the obligatory sports memorabilia on the walls. I'd go back. Ah and yes, this is the place featured on Man v. Food for the giant burger.

Mallies is our spot to get the BEST Pizza in our area, however they changed it not too long ago so be certain to ask for it the 'old way' (sauce under the cheese). You won't be disappointed! :)

I totally agree with the one comment. I like the look of Mallie's and most of their menu (i am a veg). But the crowd is so pompus it isn't even funny! They look and think like they are right off the set of 90210. I don't know how this place attracted this kind of crowd. I try to dress nice to please myself. But some nights in there, no matter how good I think I look, I'm stunned at by other ppl. You got a lot of preppy punks in there thinking they're tough and just looking for a fight too. One night a friend and I where sitting up front at a table. It was crowded. We had two guys no more than 21 crouching right on us almost asses in face. We tried to be polite but every time we needed to get up to use the bathroom we had to have them move to let us out of the booth. They kept making the sour faces and huffing and puffing like they were doing us a big favor. I haven;t been there in months. Do they still have the annoying bathroom attendant trying to make things like they're VIP? Don't know if this place is still the trend out on that end, but from what I heard Old Chicago and Lions, Tigers, and Beers are the newest places to be.

2nd time at this establishment. Nothing revolutionary here. Nor, would I expect it. But what they do, they do well. Reasonably friendly attentive and accurate service. Once again I got the all you can eat Thurs king crab special and they were juicy and succulent and not over cooked to death. We got the appetizer combo and the individual items were good, with the onion rings and potato skins being the standouts. Coconut shrimp was good but didn't really taste of coconut. My sister got the fish and chips and it was really good. They really need a sweet tropical/coconut dipping sauce to pull that one together. We went there for my neice's bday present to get her the Giant Sundae. Was a huge hit.

Very long wait followed by VERY slow service. Decided to go here or dinner at 5pm on a Saturday. We were still waiting for our drinks to get to the table and our food order to be taken at 6:30. This place was really not even very busy. Food tastes pretty good but is not worth the wait!

This place is O.K. The food was pretty good as well as the beer selection. I went there to watch the Super Bowl this year. I drank my beer from a plastic Mallie mug that I saw from the menu. After spending a few hours there along with running up a sizable tab, we decided to split. The waitress hands me the bill and reaches over a grabs both plastic mugs to take with her. I told her I thought they were ours to take with us. She said no, they belong to the bar. I said O.K. I was thinking who the hell wants to drink from a plastic mug that someone else drank from (just like I unknowingly did). Well anyway, the waitress comes back, gives us the mugs and said the boss said we could have them. Geez thanks!

ok, this place sucks. it's a typical shitty downriver bar. the lobster game was horrible, and no i was not the one who thought it was funny. this is the bar the people who never left downriver go to, and you will prolly run into some people you haven't seen since high school. i had a decent time, only cos of the people i was with. i would never CHOOSE to go here.

Weekend sports... We had a great time! Staff is friendly and thorough and we (unfortunately) watched the Wings at every possible angle. The food was excellent and drinks were plentiful. Great atmosphere and fun place to be for Detroit sports! Try it! You'll love it!!!

Went to Mallie's on a Friday evening with my daughter & her BF. I like the atmosphere and the staff all seemed pretty friendly. The Manager came by during the meal to check on us, and seemed busy on the floor doing what the few-and-far-between good restaurant managers do. The food was pretty good. I had already had a burger for lunch so I had to pass this time. Instead I got a turkey club, which was excellent. It was grilled smoked turkey, bacon and Swiss cheese topped with lettuce, tomato and honey mustard mayo, and served on a pretzel roll. The onion rings were pretty good in place of fries as well. I especially liked the amount and placement of TV's. Everywhere I turned my head, there was a TV, and all with a variety of programs. The repeated "Man Vs Food" episode showcasing Mallie's was my favorite. I'm looking forward to going back and having one of their Mushroom & Swiss Kobe burgers, and maybe for the time after that a Chipotle black bean veggie burger!

I have been here a few times. I really disagree with a lot of the 3 star or less reviews. Everything I have ever ordered here has tasted pretty dang good and I've sampled many of their dishes since I go with my family and we all try to order different stuff and share. It is a bar atmosphere but if you go early on in the dinner hours they are very family friendly. I went for lunch with my mom and my infant son today and I ordered a quesadilla and my mom had a Reuben. I happily ate everything on my plate and the only reason my mom didn't finish is because it was a HUGE Reuben. The waitress was wonderful. We didn't have any issues that warranted needing a manager. Also, FYI... they have gotten rid of the lobster tank.

Huge burgers...we ordered the 5lb burger. Gotdamn we are full. We also ordered the mac n cheese burger...shit was amazing. The meat waa cooked exactly how we ordered it and came out in a timely manner. We were going to order the 10lbs burger but it would've taken 1 hour, so we downsized. Anyway, if you like a nice juicy burger at an above decent price....go for it.

This place perplexes me. The food is always awesome. But every single time we have been here for lunch, service has been insanely slow and inattentive. To the point my husband will say he never wants to eat there again. And then we do, as the food is good. I have also been here for political fundraisers and they put on a great spread for those as well. Those are much better service, the waitresses are quick with drinks and very on top of things. They are famous for being on Man v Food, and they play that up with lots of ads in the menu and o the walls, which is a fun element. The owner is a super nice, family guy too. I recommend eating there, but only if slow service does not bother you.

Pretzel bun, sweet potato fries? I love this place. I have been several times with business associate's and with family. The food is great and service is always fast, the way it should be. Never have to ask for a refill for my drink or extra napkins. One of my favorite places.

I was kind of let down by this place, I thought it would be a lot better considering it has been on TV. I had their signature burger with Kobe beef (it comes with green chile sauce and is on a homemade bun). I found it to be pretty dry and had not much flavor at all. The fries that came with it were pretty good though. My boyfriend had the BBQ Trio, which came with ribs, chicken skewers, and beer battered shrimp. The chicken skewers and shrimp were pretty good, but the ribs were tough and dry. Overall this restaurant seemed pretty average. I might give it one more chance but would try something different next time.

Awesome! Top ten sports bar in the Midwest. The ambiance was screaming "Go Detroit (name your tram here)". The food and beer specials were also top notch. But the thing I liked most after visiting it twice in a day for a wedding trip, the waitress was very attractive (somewhat cleavage revealing) and she paid attention to the ladies in our party as much as the men. Most bars like this the waitress will focus on the flirts with the men and as a second thought, ask the ladies what they want. NOT HERE! My wife and the others were very appreciative of the equal treatment and I will go out of my way as well as recommend this place to anyone that asks! Oh, by the way, they are family owned and execute as well as any chain I've been to!

"Excellent fish and chips. Perch, not so good. Many Bones. Too well done. Service very good, except we just started eating our salad and dinner was served. When the bill came, there was $1.50 extra for something the waitress offered as one of three choices. I would have agreed to it, but it's the customers choice, not the waitress who may or may not be padding the bill.

Wow! What is with all the negativity? This is a very good saloon/diner. Teamwork between employees, wide selection and fresh takes on many old favorites. Prices are in line with other places. I think it is a local version of what Applebee's aspires to. I am sorry that Stacie R got a bad drink. I have always found the management to be very accommodating and the youth of the employees hasn't been a detriment to my experiences here.

Home of the world record for the largest hamburger, but they are so much more than a gimmick. I had the pleasure of dining there for lunch again recently, it's a wonderful place. The atmosphere is hopping with tons of TV's and memorabilia on the walls. They have a huge menu with everything from world famous burgers to sushi grade tuna and a ton of items in between. Every dish I've ever tried has been very good to excellent. An outdoor patio remodel opened this year with a roof and private bar for functions, while I haven't used that area, it looks very inviting. Pricing is very fair, and there is a video game arcade in the front room. They offer something for everyone here.

Awful. Bunch of college twits running the place. If you ask for a dirty martini make sure to say lite on the olive juice. Geezus, I had a glass of olive juice with a splash of plastic vodka. So to redeem myself (or them) & for a treat, I ordered a root beer float. I got a tall glass of ice cream with (no exaggeration) a splash of root beer. I didn't order whipped ice cream. The ice cream should seem to "float"... Bar was sticky & smelled of mildew. This place reminds me of 2nd hand Friday's. Asked for my tab & left. Ps. I didn't yelp this place first, my bad.

I've always had a pretty good experience here. The staff is typically good and the food is pretty good, too! Just recently though, they came out with that monster Bloody Mary...holy freaking CRAP is it good! Our waitress was amazing and helpful & I would suggest that you have at LEAST 3 or more people sharing the Bloody Mary. It was only my friend & I who went & had it and we were so stuffed with the greasy food & drink that we thought we were going to explode! But it was so good that it was hard to stop! I think if you've got a group of friends, it would be amazing! I absolutely loved it. That manager/owner is ridiculously creative! Thumbs up!

It's a sports bar that is cleaner and classier than most with average food and average service. The first time I went I got a burger (honestly, it was so unimpressive I don't even remember what it is). The second time I went for lunch, I got their mac & cheese. It was very bland, I had to drown it with salt. This last time I went I figured I can try something that a friend had recommended using my Groupon (which I wouldn't have ordered it otherwise), I got myself the Prime Rib. The meat was tender enough and it was cooked correctly, but it was very bland. The meat didn't have much flavor in it. The aus jus was glorified salt water with some beef bouillon. I don't foresee myself coming back soon unless a friend specific requests it.

Food was great but the service wasn't to great I ordered the Cajun rajun turkey and to drink a lemonade then tried the lemonade it was not to good so I said can I get a water instead because the lemonade was bad didn't even drink it all more than half full and still charged also the waitress forgot that I even ordered a sundae I had to remind her she seemed very loose minded food was great but staff wasn't

Went to Mallie's with some friends the first time on their strong recommendation. It's hard to get into their parking lot - nasty traffic backs up from the intersection and nobody would let me in despite having on my turn signal. A poor start to the evening. The place looks great on the inside. Clean, fun, with lots of TVs and a nice open floor plan. It was a bit noisy, but I would expect that at a sports bar. Service was mediocre at best. Our food took a long time to come out, I didn't get drink refills, and when I asked questions about the menu I got a lot of nonchalant "I don't know" responses. The signature burger had very little sauce and was overcooked (ordered medium rare, came out medium well). One of my friends disliked the flavor of the peanut burger. Another friend's steak looked like a tough atrocity, but he said it was "pretty good." I was certain I had just had an "off day" experience. So when I saw an online coupon available, I bought it and went back for an early Friday lunch before I had to head to the airport. Of course, they point out to me that the fine print on the coupon says it can't be used on Fridays or Saturdays. I take this to mean that you can't use it during the weekend evenings when the place is packed. There were very few people in the restaurant because it had just opened, and even when I asked them to make an exception, they said absolutely not. Oh well, if you want to stick to every last letter of the coupon, that's your prerogative. I gave the cajun chicken alfredo a try, since there was a lunch portion available and I didn't need spicy food before 15 hours on a plane. It was absolutely and horridly bland. The chicken was tender, but the sauce tasted like paste. It lacked garlic or Parmesan or whatever is supposed to give it flavor - it seemed like little more than butter and cream. I had to add lots of salt and pepper to make the meal edible. Part of me wants to go back and try Mallie's again, but I'm not sure I can muster up the energy to even give them a chance at that third strike.

The food was excellent. Service was terrible even though lunch business was slow. After not getting any service and third complaint, the bartender came out and waited on our group. I don't think the draft beer lines are cleaned/maintained properly - stick with bottled beer.

I love Mallies! I've loved all the food be had there...especially the pretzel buns. They have a cute open air patio now, that is my favorite place to sit. The hubby and I will come watch the red wings on their Tvs and share some nachos. Fun place, good food. The prices are a bit high to me...but the food is good...so I will keep coming back.

Good place. Burgers are great, quality meat.. Great sauces. There is a wait but so does every good place. At least you're not staring at white dry wall during your wait and you can enjoy their really nice TV. Service does need to improve, they seem to be under staffed every time I've been here.

Have been there 5 times and only been happy once, $10 pot pie with no visible chicken meat, emailed owner and no response, I guess the 338 pound burger and T.V time is all their worried about. Over priced and could care less if your not happy.

The best burger joint downriver! They have great burgers, amazing fish and chips, and incredible Calamari!! I recommend the calamari appetizer and a couple beers if you're just looking for a place to hang out and have a light dinner.

Good place to bring kids during the day time! We have a hyper 2 year old and dining out is always a challenge with her. Malleys was a perfect fit! We went on a Sat. Night around 7pm and asked to be sat out I their patio. It was great for kids ... Plenty of room for the kids to run around while not getting in the way of waitstaff. It was relatively private (only two other tables) and comfortable with big TVs and a few arcade games to, again, keep the kiddies occupied. We had excellent food and service too ... We usually get the burgers but i ordered the mussels appetizer and a side salad and the mussels were excellent. Ive never had them in a cream sauce before and it worked well. We ordered our daughter the kiddie spaghetti ... The bread it came with was SO good. The only minor issue we had was that the children's spaghetti was actually spicy. My daughter didn't like it but my husband did. This was a great place where Mommy and Daddy can go to relax and not have to worry too much about if the kids are going to disrupt anyone else. Thanks!

Food is good. Portions are generally massive. Service is on the iffy side. Over time, we've tried just about everything. The pizzas are pretty good; burgers and fish/chips about average; steak, ribs, mac n cheese subpar (oddly enough, the portions and sides on the "high ticket" items like steak and ribs are the skimpiest of the bunch). I go here occasionally, especially if there's a Groupon deal available. But if I'm paying full price or with a group, there are much better options.

Awesome burgers.... beer is great, mixed drinks can be hit or mis. But other than the volume of the tv's it is a great place! And the burgers come in real manly sizes.... big, bigger and all the way to wholly crap!!!

We visited for the first time in 2011 right after we saw it on Man vs. Food. It was part of a "tour" of all the restaurants featured on the show. If you're looking for some crazy beautiful ambience with wine and candles, Mallie's ain't for you. Let's be real: it's a sports bar. TVs adorn the walls and jerseys and pictures hang right next to them. You're going to visit Mallie's because of how huge their menu is. This time around I ordered the 1/2 pound BBQ bacon burger. It was cooked to order (medium) and was perfect. It takes a little longer than most "bars" to get your food because everything is cooked to order. The fries were crisp and fresh and we were able to watch the last few moments of USA hockey thanks to the GIANT projection TV on the wall. If you don't order alcohol the bill is going to be reasonable. For two of us this time around, it was $23.00. When we pass through here and it's time to eat, Mallie's is always on our list of things to do.

First off, who cares that they have a 338.6 pound burger or that they were featured on TV? Does anyone go in there and realistically purchase even a 10 pound burger? So, the very idea that they promote these culinary abominations kind of distracts from their weaknesses. I've been here a few times, and I wasn't impressed. It's no different from any other casual bar/restaurant in the area. In fact, it might be a step lower than favored places like Old Chicago, BWW, Chili's, Outback... (and the list of Downriver restaurants can go on forever). Mallie's isn't bad; it's just not great or really worth going to unless your other friends plan to go there and you want to go out too. Their menu isn't as expansive as other places, and their drink selection is weak and pricey. We went there on a Saturday night, and the server told us they had no drink specials. Their appetizers are damn near as pricey as the entrees (although they do run half-off appetizers on the weekdays). Every time I've been there, I've gone with a group of friends and were met with substandard service, as if the server didn't care too much about helping us. To top it off, the giant TV in front of us was changed from a World Series game to a meaningless college football game at the request of another group, and some of us were pissed since that game was also on another nearby TV. We didn't get refills in a timely manner, and my requested side of BBQ sauce never arrived.

Our baseball team is here playing in the Little League World Series we took a large group to Mallie's today for the 2nd day in a row. My husband order a to-go salad for me to bring back to the hotel. It was to be the strawberry salad that I had yesterday without onions. I wanted the smaller lunch salad but they will not do that for a to-go order so we had to get the $15.00 salad. When I opened it at the hotel it had onions on it and no strawberries. I called and spoke to the manager Aaron to explain the mixup and he told me that my husband was advised that they had no strawberries and that the onions were on the side. I advised him that my husband was not told there were no strawberries as he would not have ordered it and the onions were on the salad not on the side. He offered to exchange my meal for me if I was willing to come it. I advised that I was at a hotel and didn't have time. I asked him to credit me back the $15.00 and he refused and hung up on me when my husband called back he hung up on him. What kind of customer service is this??? We were planning to bring our entire team with 13 families more than 50 people to dinner at your restaurant this week but won't be doing so. I hope saving the $15.00 was worth it to you.

Ordered a small, deep dish, meat lovers pizza. Got a small, thin crust pepperoni. Sent it back. Then it returned and as small meat lovers thin crust. After waiting for an hour, I gave up and ate it. It was....pizza. Nothing more. Nothing less. As the vast majority of poor reviews say, the girls on the floor are terribly understaffed. Won't be back. I wanted to give the place a shot because of the MVF show. I was disappointed.

Love the food here and love the atmosphere however the service on this particular trip was below sub par. Waited 15 minutes for no service what so ever, not even a drink order. Lucky for them the food is good and I'll be back. Don't know what happened to the service I use to get there but they need to get it fixed.

It was ok. My husband ordered the fish and fries and the menu said it comes with soup or salad and choice of potato (i cant remember the choices exactly) anyway, the waitress said that the menu was wrong that you dont really get both salad and side but she would do it for us since the menu wasnt clear. Looked clear to me. Umm..ok? The service was just ok. The patio does look pretty cool. Would be fun to go for drinks with friends.

Have been to Mallie's multiple times, honestly close to 100. This last time was the straw that broke the camels back. For the past year or so the wait/bar staff has severely lacked- how can you not get a beer refill sitting AT the bar? Oh she was busy chatting...that's how. Sunday, tried the beer cheese soup off the lent menu. It was horribly salty, even had someone else try to make sure it wasn't me-inedible and one of my favorite types of soup. Assuming it was the owners family as the kitchen was free reign made the experience over the top awful. Toddler screaming on purpose for fun, throwing toys at the wall and guests. I was lucky enough to be in a booth, the poor table next to them looked tortured. We all know how little ones can be, why upset YOUR guests when you do not have to?

Short on service and long on excuses. Food was delivered randomly, incorrectly and COLD. Drink refills took forever, as did our check.

Stopped in for lunch with Groupon. Healthy portions for turkey burger and half slab of baby back ribs. Ribs wet and meaty. Sweet potato wedge fries cooked just right. Great Long Beach!! We WILL be back!!

We had a 1 hour lunch break and went here for lunch. They were not busy at the time but we waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive. We had to ask for to-go boxes. Most of us ordered from the lunch menu but most of our bills reflected the normal, higher price (only a dollar or two difference, but why have a lunch menu if you're going to charge regular prices.) The food was ok. It's bar food so that's what you can expect. Lots of "gimmicks" here - a ten pound burger, super hot chicken wings - and eating challenges for each. Instead of this, maybe focus on better, quicker service & better food.

Although this place is known for their burgers, I went for the California Chicken Griller. It was very good, though a little heavy (next time I'll ask for grilled chicken). Our entire group was very satisfied with what they ordered and expressed interest in coming back. My only gripe was the lack of attention paid by the wait staff. We were there for quite a bit catching up and were never offered refills. I finally had to flag someone down when almost all the cups were empty. To their credit they were very pleasant and responsive when I did get ahold of them.

Went to Mallies with my inlaws from out of town. The food and service was excellent. My 4 y/o daughter begged for the olives out of my martini so the waitress brought her an whole cup full! We will be back soon!

Stopped on the way to Detroit for a couple beers and some appetizers. It took a few minutes to get the bartender but once we had her attention she took good care of us. The beer was cold, the service friendly and the food hit the spot.

With all the restaurants in the Detroit Metro area, I will not be back. I went in with high hopes of a good burger. Very disappointed in the meat quality. Too much gristle for me, and the servers were not friendly to us. They all seemed like they were not enjoying their job. Which is how I felt about my meal.

They have lost my business forever. We rented their party bus, placed a down payment on it - and then waited...and waited...and waited. The bus never showed. I called multiple times - and finally the Driver answered - and there were ppl partying in the background. Next, I finally got in touch with a "manager" who tried to run me around the bush with excuses. The bus was out with another party of a "friend". He finally admitted to it and then I had to fight to get my money back. What a joke and insult. Who gives a squat if they were on TV ever. They do not know how to take care of their customer. Fools. Stay away and don't give them a dime of your money. If you want names, and proof that they ripped me off - private message me on here and I will show you images of my "deposit" slip. Thanks.

This use to be one of our favorite places to go until today. My husbands Pattie melt was burnt. We didn't want a refund, we just wanted to let them know that lately our meals have been inconsistent. The cashier talked to the manager and gave us a survey to fill out. As I was getting done with it I realized that Steve the owner was on the floor just walking around. REALLY Steve, my husband and I know your father Romeo, he is the nicest guy we have ever met. Shame on you for not coming over to our table and talking to us. You are the owner and without customers you have nothing. Remember that when another old fart is unhappy with there meal.

Came here for three reasons: recommendation of a friend, Man vs food, and the fact that its not far from the MJR Southgate. For starters, we had the spinach and artichoke dip, which to me was very very average (should of followed my 1st mind and tried the wings, but will next time) and the only reason why this review gets four stars. They have good beer prices and i heard that this place is even popping on a Saturday with a dance floor and a DJ. As for the entrees themselves, I had the Kobe burger, which was so so so great and on point, no flaws in this burger trust me. The Fries here also real good and even the prime rib (had a bite of my fiancee) was so freakin good here. Overall, a definite must try for all.

We came here after being stranded in Detroit for 24 hours, when our flight home was canceled. We needed lunch, needed to get out of downtown (so we wouldn't run the risk of getting shot). We each ordered a 1/2 lb burger - I had one with Swiss cheese and mushrooms, and sweet potato fries. Service was decent, our waitress refilled our sodas without being asked, and it was empty - that might be because it was 12:30 on a Tuesday. There wasn't anything insanely remarkable about this place, but it was pretty good, and if I lived in the area (God Forbid) I would go back.

Burgers and Beer + Keno! This place has been on on the shows (Discovery Channel, Man Vs Food, etc...)... They are knoww for the 1/2lb, 1lb, 3lb, 10lb, and their 338lb(/) Burger. It is funny because if you get the 338lb burger to go - there is an additional $200 charge (probaly for the box they have to put it in. It was a quiet day on Friday around 2:30 PM. We ordered our burgers (1/2 lb). I think our crew was expecting these over the top burgers (see Thurman Cafe Review in Columbus) but that is not what this place is about. This place is about the meat and what accentuates the meat. I ordered the Bacon Blue. My burger arrived and I received exactly what I ordered. A juicy half pound burger cooked medium, with blue cheese crumbles and mozerrella melted on top/ with two large pieces of bacon. The only thing they served with this burger was a thick slice of white onion along with my side of Sweet potato fries. It was very very good. Great flavor. I accompanied my meal with a soulful beer called the Detroit Dwarf. Atmosphere - It was quiet when we went but looked fun with tv's showing sports. They have KENO, scratch-offs, and pull tabs for those who like to gamble. Service - Service was okay. Our waitress was finiishing her lunch 2 tables away but afterwards she was attentive. This may want to change in the future. Our food came out hot but our drink orders were a little slow. Food - Very Good - If you are not going to order a larger burger - don' t expect over the top toppings. Just expect good food. They have a good craft beer selection. Cost - $8 for the burger and fries. $4 for the craft beer I will be back!

Food is EXCELLENT. I had a burger, fries, and mozzarella sticks that I split with friends. The drinks however tasted like juice, supposedly having vodka. Very WEAK, and very PRICEY. I would suggest not ordering a mixed drink, and probably going with a beer or coke. I would definitely go back though for the food!

I've tried to like this place for awhile. I think the food is average to good. Atmosphere is good. On my recent visit 7/9/14 service was very slow. Our waitress was also the hostess. Did not get the service one would expect. Very disappointed with beer selection. If you like the domestics, you will be happy. Waitress had no clue on beer selection. A Michigan bar with no Bells or Founders or any other craft beer. Would go back but not go out of my way.

Pretty good food, a great choice if you're looking for a good burger or sandwich. Good deals on steaks, prime rib and crab legs. Staff is very good 95% of the time. Place can get pretty crowded and loud though at times. Update: Well it's been a while since we'd been out this way and decided to stop in for the all you can eat crab legs on a Thursday. Turns out they don't do that anymore. Disappointed but we were going to order something else. Order an appetizer of mussels, took 20 minutes to come out, half were cooked, but the other half that they were laying on top of were not (WTF?!?). Service sucked (used to be good), and the non sweet iced tea tasted like dish water. So basically the food, service, even the drinks were all awful. We paid for the 1/2 edible food and awful drinks and left to go to another place where we had great service and food. Not sure what happened to this place but it's really gone down hill from what we experienced. Not worth going unless you're determined to get lousy service, food, drinks and have to wait far to long for each.

I love going there. There is quite a few games to play including Keno and the lobster tank thing. The food has been excellent every time I went and so has the drinks. The owner is very nice and tends to be very attentive, but some of the waitresses need to follow his example. A few times I had to wait a while for things. But all in all I would go again and I find that around lunchtime is the perfect time to visit. I have also thrown a party there and it was a great place for that.

I have stopped at Mallie's each time I passed through Detroit and never been disappointed. The menu offers a decent variety of food and spirits. Service has always been friendly. I truly enjoyed Lora's bubbling personality on my last visit. Monday's steak special was prepared with perfection from the chef. And, if you like apple pie, try granny's, it's the best. I will always make eating at Mallie's a part of my Detroit visits. Thanks Lora, keep smiling, you are great at what you do!

I woke up this morning craving a BLT. So, I thought long and hard about what sports bar I could visit, that would have good burgers or bar food. I had a couple of places in mind, one of which wasn't open yet, so I headed towards Mallie's. By the time I got there (12:05 pm), they were open (at noon), so I was in luck. While I initially wanted a BLT, the "Mile High Club" sandwich caught my eye. You got the choice of fries, home made chips, sweet potato fries, cole slaw or pasta salad. I got the pasta salad... it was tasty & typical. The sandwich, though, was delicious. It had ham, turkey, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese and a very tasty honey dijon sauce. It was really good. The portion size was nice, too. Unless you're really hungry, you'll have enough to box up and carry home. The decor of Mallie's is that of your typical sports bar. What surprised me is that there were small flat screen tvs at each booth! That was exciting to see. But no volume and no channel control. :-/ There was this weird lobster game. It was a claw that you manuveur... think an arcade game in which you try to pick up stuffed animals or pillows or now, purses. You can never win anything in those games. You just kinda halfway pick something up and it falls right out of your grip. Now think of how weird that is with live lobsters. Mallie's has these huge burgers in different sizes so you can either partake in their challenge burger OR challenge your friends with specific sizes. The biggest burger was even featured on Man vs. Food Nation, as well as other food shows that feature big servings or big foods. They have an all you can eat crab leg special, too. Their website has info on the all you can eat nights, as well as other specials they often have.

I was in town for a local air show and found this restaurant on the TV foods map app. Let's just say it is just an ad to get you into the place. We went on steak night. Our hostess sat us and told us about some new specials they had started. When we tried to confirm with the waitress, she said those are not correct. We then had to grab the hostess again, and confirm that they were correct. As they were, so we ordered two ribeyes and a sirloin. All of the steaks were not cooked as we preferred, the ribeyes were both 50% fat, and the sirloin tasted like dried out hamburger. The mashed potatoes were very bland and stringy. I also ordered a piece of cake to go, and asked for Togo silverware, which I never received. The place was definitely understaffed, and none of the girls seem to know the menu. It's definitely just a place to drive by. Oh and when I got back to my hotel and ate the cake, it was disgusting, tasted worse then chuckle cheese.

Great selection on menu. The Kobe burger was super good. I have ate here before and had their salads with fruit which are also delicious. Good quality food, something for everyone. Will be eating here again. The icecream sundaes also looked good but I never have room after a meal.

This is a tough review for me. If I were to review the food and daytime atmosphere, I would give it 4 stars. If I were to review the drinks and nighttime atmosphere, I would give it 2 stars. So, I am somewhere in between on this one. I will start with the 2 star review move forward. Here goes: I do not like this place for a Friday night out with friends. The drinks are crappy/watered down and the crowd just isn't my style. However, the crowd and atmosphere of this place on the weekend nights is totally based upon preference. I am not a huge sports fan nor did I grow up downriver so me not liking this bar in the evening time, is totally my due to MY taste. Too 'downriver' for me. I understand I will probably get a lot of heat from that last comment but it is what it is. It's a total downriver vibe (sports, cheap beer, hmmmm?! think....nascar!). Moving on; the burgers here are pretty frickin tasty. The Kobe Beef burger is real juicy and has a distinct flavor. This burger comes on a warmed, glistening bun. I recommend it to anyone. The sides are average sides as this is a bar after all. With one exception, the sweet potato fries. A lot of places under or over season sweet potato fries but Mallies does them justice. Order them! As for the service, it has always been decent for my visits. I haven't left saying, "Wow, that waitress was awesome," or anything but haven't left angry either. The staff has been efficient enough. I will certainly go back here for daytime visits. I am a burger fanatic and well, they have me hooked. Plus, I have a dream where I go there and swim in their gigantic sundae that is plastered all over their menu. This sundae is huge and looks amazing. A novelty? Yes!, But damn, I picture heaven having sundaes of such massiveness and chocolate. Mmmm.

I celebrated my 30th birthday here on Saturday Night January 25th, it was a party of 50ppl and was told bc my friend won a contest that all Drinks and food would be half off and complementary Shots 2 per person. All sounded Great! Have gone here in the past with no issues, well it was till we found out we had one waitress, ok maybe short staffed, but we RSVP 1 1/2 weeks early which was plenty of enough time to schedule us a couple waitresses, then as the night went on I don't know if our Waitress thought we were buzzed off a few beers a piece, she then just stopped bringing everyone there change!!! Let's just say 38ppl total that were paying as they go, she made out like a bandit! Also when confronted by many of us cuz she was doing it every time she would try telling us she gave out are change to someone else! She was getting tipped really well till she started doing this!!!! Just off of myself and my bf she made $28 off 2 beers a piece!!!!! My Boyfriend did call Management on Monday and was told they will return our call, still no word! This isn't a place I will ever go again for future party's! It's crazy that wait staff like Alex would scam a large group that's giving great $$$ to such a bar!

Being a vegetarian and going to the world's largest burger place might have been a bad idea. However, the idea was no issue. They had a full menu, amazing sweet potato fries, and yes the 10lb burger challenge which my boyfriend attempted.....key word, attempted. They give you a packaging box to take the rest of your 10lb burger in, becausw it is so damn big. My veggie burger was yumtastic and all of our companion's food was dynamite as well. The only issue was that the service was lousy minus the hostess.

Have been there 5 times and only been happy once, $10 pot pie with no visible chicken meat, emailed owner and no response, I guess the 338 pound burger and T.V time is all their worried about. Over priced and could care less if your not happy.

The best burger joint downriver! They have great burgers, amazing fish and chips, and incredible Calamari!! I recommend the calamari appetizer and a couple beers if you're just looking for a place to hang out and have a light dinner.

Stopped on the way to Detroit for a couple beers and some appetizers. It took a few minutes to get the bartender but once we had her attention she took good care of us. The beer was cold, the service friendly and the food hit the spot.

There wasn't anything insanely remarkable about this place, but it was pretty good, and if I lived in the area (God Forbid) I would go back.

ok, this place sucks. it's a typical shitty downriver bar. the lobster game was horrible, and no i was not the one who thought it was funny. this is the bar the people who never left downriver go to, and you will prolly run into some people you haven't seen since high school. i had a decent time, only cos of the people i was with. i would never CHOOSE to go here.

Mmmm.

  • John N.
