Whenever we go Up North on 75, we take the Baldwin Exit South for this DQ! It is always clean, the service is terrific, the food is fresh and the ice cream is generous. While waiting in the drive-thru we are always impressed with the cleanliness of the grounds and the obvious care that is taken to maintain this well-run restaurant. Looking in, it is easy to notice that the food preparation area is spotless as well. I am always delighted with how kind the staff is to my children who usually can't make up their mind when it is our turn. This DQ is a gem.

I ate their paczki. I want more paczki. Give more paczki to me now.
Avon Donuts put my faith back in donuts. Super friendly staff and crazy good prices.
First of all, driving into Pontiac for donuts I was a little skeptical. The outside of the business looks a bit run down, but don't let that deter you!!! This place was amazing, even the people in the parking lot are friendly as they are all hopped up on delicious gems from inside! The owner was working with his two little girls sitting at the counter. He was extremely personable and friendly. We decided to get a dozen to sample about everything, and we were not disappointed. These donuts were fresh and tasty, unlike the frozen garbage you get at places like Tim hortons. Do yourself a favor if you are anywhere near Woodward in Pontiac, stop in and get a donut with some great coffee, you'll be happy you did!!!!!

Bob E’s Super Chief

340 W Walton Blvd
Pontiac, 48340
Reviews:
Sure, you can pick apart a coney dog and choose your favorite places for chili, dog, bun, etc. but Bob E's Super Chief is the superior coney overall and is by far my favorite coney restaurant in all of Detroit. The place is small and unpretentious; it is tidy and clean. Memorabilia from years gone by decorate the walls, it gives the place a homey feel to see such personal affects. It can get a little crowded at lunch as a line forms at the counter for carry outs, but the staff keeps things moving in their usual friendly and attentive style. Yes there are burgers and other items on the menu which I have tried over the years and find to be good, but the draw for me is the coneys. My usual order is foot longs, onion rings with some famous Miami sauce, and a cherry coke. I always see some nice looking desserts in the case on the counter but after 2 or 3 foot longs I so far have passed on pie, one of the few rare cases in which I do. Served simply in a hot dog tray, it is a quintessential coney experience. I do admit that I usually ask for a fork and knife. The buns are toasted that much is obvious. What other kitchen wizardry are they conjuring up over there with the dogs? You can easily see all the action in the kitchen from the counter or booths. The prices are more then reasonable, and I consider them cheap. I look for an excuse to hit this side town just to stop in at Bob E's, and take my son when I can so he can grow up knowing the best coneys I have ever experienced.
It is hard to say if this establishment should get 3 or 4 stars - according to my husband (who ate the chili and the hot dog) there is no reason to drive past a Kerby's to get to Super Chief. I thought it was better than 3 stars, but I had a salad and fries... so 3 stars it is. Like others mentioned the bun is toasted. My husband says the chili was tasteless. So meh-chili on a hotdog with a toasted bun he says is 3 stars. The chili cheese fries had shredded cheese on it that wasn't totally melted... Service was super fast and friendly, the restaurant has 4 stools and 5 booths with a tremendous carryout business, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a moment.
Yes, this is a little, quirky place. There are pictures of Indians on the walls and one wall has a Marilyn Monroe picture! We always have the foot long coney. It's served on a grilled hot dog bun with chili sauce, mustard and onion. The chili is thicker than Detroit style coneys, so you can eat it with your hands. Very yummy. There are homemade desserts as well. The coconut cake is wonderful. The one complaint is the food is served on Styrofoam plates.

El Patron Mexican Grill

Reviews:
I really love this place. It's tough to find Mexican tacos in the northern Metro Detroit that are both authentic, and good quality. I have been to all of the Mexican restaurants in Pontiac, Waterford, etc, and was disappointed by all of them for one reason or another. This is the only one that I really can't say one bad thing about. The food is fresh. I have had many tacos here, as well as the patron fries (really cool concept, I'd recommend trying them!), flautas and chimichangas. All were delicious. And the price is fair. The restaurant itself is very clean, and the employees are always friendly. They also have a little side bar where you can take all the salsa, radishes, or other garnishes your heart desires. And their menu has pictures of every item for those that are not as familiar with Mexican dishes. For those that might be worried about the safety of the location, don't worry! This is in a nice part of Pontiac. And the private lot is a nice plus. My only wish is that they had a Taco Tuesday deal, or something similar.
We did not stay to eat, although it was clean, bright, and the staff were friendly...this is a cafeteria style, (Subway or Qdoba style) restaurant. Not what we were looking for to sit & visit with friends we haven't seen in years. Too bad. Wish we had known this before making the drive. We did not notice anything posted about the style of restaurant. I still give it 4 stars due to all we did see about the place & all the customers looked happy.
We kind of got lost on our way to DTE. So glad we did...because we found this place. I got on my Yelp app and saw that we were close to this place, but didn't want to be late for our concert so I called to see if there would be a wait. The lady who answered the phone didn't understand what I was talking about, when we arrived and I saw that it was cafeteria style I could see why she was confused by my question. The manager (owner?) was very friendly and even gave us an order of chips so we could try all of their amazing salsa...fyi, the creamy green medium spice one was the best. At our table was a good variety of tacos, a taco salad and a steak quesadilla. All very fresh and authentic. It was served quickly and we made it to the concert with time to spare!

My favorite diner around- blows any Coney Island (besides maybe Lafayette) out of the water. Has a great atmosphere with very friendly staff. I usually come for the generously sized breakfast plates (at a great price too!) but am also a big fan of their sliders- which are without a doubt better than those served at hunter house. In my opinion this is because the meat is higher quality and they do a better job of balancing the grease to burger ratio. Will continue to dine here as I have not once been disappointed.
Great food and service. I've been here for breakfast a few times, and it's been fantastic every time. The coffee is great, plentiful, and always fresh. Service is so good, I've never seen the bottom of the coffee mug. Prices are lower than expected, which is nice. I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area. The only caveat is that its a bit small inside, so it may be difficult to bring groups of more than six or seven.
This place never disappoints! Breakfast is the best meal of the day...kills the chain coney islands. Pancakes and bacon are delicious. The thing is that it's been here for years and I forgot about it. We will be coming back.

Rocket Restaurant

1375 Baldwin Ave
Pontiac, 48340
Reviews:
There's a lot to like about the burgers at the Rocket and, what's more, there's a lot of burger to like. This is a meal to be shared, or if you're like me and my friends, taken on solo and bet upon. Roughly the size of a small pizza, the monster burgers are greasy, delicious and a testament to the power of deep frying that they come out without spots of raw meat. The fries are tasty and there's selection to be had beyond the monsters but whenever I eat here, I can't stop myself. The word "monster" always precedes the word "burger" when it comes time for my mouth to enunciate my order. I also really love the plastic booths and environment. If you look around, you'll notice the Rocket actually started as a walk-up counter with no attached dining room. The eating area was added later, and I can appreciate a grease hole that wears its history in this way. So why would someone who loves the food this much go and give the place four stars? No refills! Boo! I know I can be a bit of a camel when it comes to sodas at dinner but seriously, this is a mass of meat and you get one styrofoam cup to wash it down with. If this has changed since my last visit, I will happily bump them to the five star club. Still, it's completely worth a visit. I'll certainly be stopping in again the next time I'm in the neighborhood.
even though the dinning area is kind of old and uncomfortable, the service and the price range can not be beat at this place. there gyros are absolutely amazing. it is sort of a family restaurant and I think they are doing a great job running it. and they are all very nice and kind
I went into Rocket based on the Yelp reviews, but was disappointed by the food. This place definitely has character and the staff is friendly, but I just can't get passed the food. My buddy and I split the Monster burger, which is a very large hamburger on a huge bun that is cut into 4 pieces. This is not a very tasty burger. The bun is dry and dominates in terms of the bread to meat ratio. The mayo, swiss, canned mushrooms, and lettuce don't add anything either. I'm not sure if the smaller burgers are better - I'll have to try one on my next visit. On the up side, the french fries tasted fresh cut. My friend's Greek salad looked totally fresh. Our jalapeno poppers were perfectly fine, too. A couple of the regulars told us that the pizza at the Rocket is amazing. I saw them making some and it definitely looked good. Another reason to make a return visit. Like I said before, I was disappointed by the visit. Maybe ordering a burger larger than 2 heads wasn't such a good plan - next time I'll order something a little more normal and little less monster.

I came back here to try Zoup again, and I must say, what a much better experience! The temperature problem was fixed, and it was quite comfortable inside. Tables were clean, and more importantly, the food was awesome! I went with the Chicken noodle soup with a Turkey club. Delicious! The soup was amazing, and the sandwich really hit the spot. I'm glad I gave Zoup another shot. I really like the selection, and they had a few different soups from the last time I was there. Now that it's cold outside, the soup really hit the spot. Service was great, and my mom and I had a good time here. Overall, I was happy to eat here, and now that the weather's getting cold, I plan on returning in the future.
Went here the other day for the first time. It reminds me of Panera Bread with a heavier emphasis on the soup. I liked that they allow you to sample the various soups. I had a sample of the the Chicken Pot Pie which was very good. I was trying for something healthier so I got the Chicken Veggie Chop Chop and then also got a Turkey club. The soup was good. Very hot which I liked. The Turkey club was okay but I think that they forgot to put the bacon on it. My friend got the same sandwich and said his was there but was hard to find. Overall it was a good experience. Another place to go in the fast casual category. I will most likely to again.
Dear Zoup - YOU ROCK!!! Please don't ever go away! Best lunch in town. Amazing soups - and that's coming from a girl who makes her soups from scratch. xoxoxoxoxo
