Hands down the best place for thai food and sushi in SE MI. I've been searching for a thai place that matches Thai Chilli in Atlanta (my best prior experience with thai food). This place fits the bill perfectly, so I'll start with the awesomeness of the thai menu. Things to try: any of the curries, drunken noodle, coconut soup. Anything I have tried I have loved! The veggies are fresh and cooked just right. They don't over-fry their tofu. Their beef tastes great (many Thai places fail here). They make my extra-thai hot curry EXACTLY the way I like it, with lots of fresh thai chilies. Summary: Great, fresh ingredients, great spice, great price, huge portions. They even give you extra rice for your leftovers (yep, you'll have lots of leftovers). The sushi is the cheapest in the area, the portions are amazing (no skimpy piece of fish atop a ball of rice here), and everything tastes very fresh. Yummy seaweed salad served with pretty flower petals. $4 for 2 pieces of nigiri or a $10 roll-- you cannot beat that! Also try the ice cream. The mango ice cream tasted like it was made from real mangoes and had a nice, creamy texture. Good thing Mali Thai is cheap, or else I would definitely be in the poor house (I am seriously considering just eating here for dinner every night). Finally, the service is amazing. I think I have met the owner and he is always friendly, funny, and helpful. The wait staff is amazing as well. Definitely worth dining in. This decor is nice and it is clean. The music is oddly relaxing. Bottom line: sushi and thai lovers would be crazy not to come here.

This place is simply amazing! Lucky the owner is a great guy who's always willing to help. The service is also top notch to go along with their food. The sushi is excellent and right up there with any of the other local sushi houses. The Thai wings as a starter were amazing! They had a sweet yet spicy sauce that was some of the best wings I've had. The coconut soup is to die for, as the Pho soup. Never had any bad dishes here, so far tried 3 from the main course selection along with the soups starters & sushi.. I'd highly recommend Mali!

This is my favorite Thai food in the area! Love the yellow curry, curry noodle, pad thai, and fried rice. Beware the spice (seriously). Service is usually good/friendly/quick.

Was pleasantly surprised by how good the entrees were. We got the vegetarian spring rolls, which were decent. I got the green curry with chicken which was excellent. Chicken was very juicy and tender and the flavors were great. My husband got the tofu pad thai and really liked it as well. We also got a spicy salmon roll, which was mediocre.

I told the staff today i was going to give them a glowing review and i'm keeping my word :) My sister gave me the menu yesterday and so today me and my friend decided to give them a shot. Immediately when we walked in we noticed how beautiful the place was decorated and designed. The staff was completely kind and attentive to us. These were already good signs. Once we tried the food that sealed the deal. Our sushi was freshly made and prepared with perfection. I ordered lobster and California rolls while my friend ordered the salmon. They were plated beautifully and tasted flavorful. After that, the staff was very kind and surprised us with a roll off of the chef's special menu on the house! We were completely blown away to receive something twelve dollars in value for free like that. So i owe it to them! Everybody in Plymouth Canton, i'm telling you, this place totally delivers. It was a fantastic experience and worth every penny.

Food wasn't terrible, but not great. Sushi rice was kind if dried out, so that wasn't too good, and one of the salads, the green apple salad, basically tasted like a caramel apple, which didn't rock my world. But the big downer was the service, which ranged from slow to bordering on surly. Don't live that close to here, so probably wouldn't be back any way, but not a place I would recommend.

Went with my girlfriend today and had the mali fried rice and crab Rangoon roll, service was good, loved the food and atmosphere, would recommend this gem to anyone

This place is fantastic. It's one of those places that you walk into and don't expect a whole lot from and then it blows you away. I've not tried the sushi yet, but plan to. I'm still stuck on their red and green curries for carryout at the moment. I've had a lot of Thai and different places, and this is definitely one of my favorites.

We started with chicken tom yum, it was amazing.. then had spring rolls..yet again amazing...then moved on to some sushi that was recommended by Sam, more of the amazing... then on to my drunkin noodles ordered at a perfect medium spice level.. we came from Dearborn to try this place, they have a lifelong customer, the chai iced tea was over the top and by far the best I have ever had. You owe it to yourself to try this place once you do you won't go anywhere else...

Great customer service. Delicious and flavorful food. One of the best thai restaurants.

Very bland. Hot without having any flavor. Very disappointing.

One of the best Thai food restaurants in the Plymouth/Canton area. Especially love their garlic chicken fried rice. They red curry chicken fried rice is really good too. Best pork egg rolls too. They definitely need to hire more wait staff though, service can be slow at times.

Let's be honest, this is strictly about the food. I could be petty or knit pick but this is about the food!! I had the Pho, my first time ever having this dish. Amazing!! I started to add spice to it and by the end of my bowl I was sweating all over! My daughter had the la da with chicken, equally amazing! So happy I get to have that for lunch tomorrow! My husband stuck to his usual and had sushi, miso soup and salad. He was very please with his meal as well, nice big generous bowl of soup, large chunks of tofu, plenty of seaweed, delicious! His salad was large too and plenty of toppings! Over all this was an amazing meal. $39 with tip, but I would gladly pay it again. The only thing they could different is add child portions. Such good food!

Good Thai and sushi. I had the Thai pho and waitress brought me fresh Thai basil for my soup. Presentation was nice. Sushi came out fast. Very welcoming staff and understanding that we had two small children.

Love this place. Nice atmosphere and good service. We particularly enjoy the North Noodles. We haven't tried the sushi but it's really cool that they have that option.

I really have no complaints about this place. It was clean, open feeling and the food was tastey. I got a Miso soup, house salad, California roll and Philly roll. The rolls were nice and cold and tasted fresh. If I had to pick something I didn't like it may have been the Wasabi paste they use. But it was fine. The service was prompt and friendly. This was my first visit but I plan on going back soon. Prices are decent. For my entire meal it was around $14. My wife had a Thai soup dish that she loved. We are looking forward to going back to try other dishes.

I have tried all Thai restaurants in my area and this place was recommended by a friend. I have to say "wow" food is excellent! It's going to be my new favorite Thai restaurant! :)

I've been here twice, both times I've had amazing food! Good level of heat and awesome flavor! Haven't tried the sushi yet.

Went in on a midday weekday. We were the only table there, ordered a lot of sushi, some noodle dishes and thai ice teas. Ice teas were great. Sushi was normal, unimpressive. And the noodle dishes...I feel bad even writing this, but the rancid smell coming from it literally almost made me vomit. It smelled like dead, wet dog...was horrible. I tried to take a bite, and asked my friend to as well, both of us had to spit it out. Something was terrible wrong and as I notified the server, he simply said "oh really" and tried to charge me for it anyway. Being in the industry and having a love for all asian style food, I was really disappointed.

At first glance you might pass up this hole in the wall, buried in a strip mall amongst the florist and the gym. But you'd be missing out. They have an array of Thai dishes as well as sushi, and I have never been dissapointed. I saw one reviewer complained of the spice level. I will admit that the one occasion I got medium level spice it was very hot to me. So I continue to get mild now and have enjoyed all my food since. The sushi is fairly good. I still prefer O'sushi for sushi but it's nice to get a roll or two as an appetizer before your main dish. My fave is the South Curry noodles but I have tried other dishes and always been pleased. The only negative I can say is that service can be slow. And take out can actually be really slow. On several occasions I have waited upwards of 45 minutes for take out. And one time it actually took over an hour and a half however they did give me a 20% discount that time. We can useally dine in...in about an hour. So be prepared...this is not fast food.

Its just not good. Given it a couple tries but the flavors are not right for me. Pad Thai was greasy and had two hairs in it. Second attempt had a bitter, starchy consistency. I should not stray from my little Bangkok.

Sushi was very good. Spring rolls were good. Entrees were bad. Too spicy to the point that it overpowered the taste of the food, which wasn't the best tasting as it was. If you want Thai, go to Thai Cafe in Plymouth. I ordered an almost exact same dish that I get there and it didn't come close to comparing. We both left with light headaches. My friend vomited as soon as we came home. Server woman did a good job, but if you go here, only do it for the sushi.

i'm waffling between 2 and 3 stars on this one. friendly. server was shy with his English but attentive. he noticed a chip in my teacup and replaced it promptly. that's the way (it's also the law). plastic menu, dry erase marker. save a tree. good plan! bad skipping faux jazz music switching keys every two seconds. some of the worst I've ever heard. fresh rolls were huge, but outer rice paper layer was a bit tough, peanut sauce had a hard-core ginger kick to it, which i loved. miso was perfect. ample wakame, few tofu chunks, giant bowl, proper temperature. sushi plate came with a modest wad of spicy ginger and a kiss of wasabi you could tell was squeezed from a pastry tube. the "awesome roll"--baked sea scallop topped with seared salmon. thought this would come hot, but no. liked mango sauce but this roll, being room temp, was suspect, and not nearly as flavorful as i'd expected. spicy tuna was just that. tamago didn't look homemade. I read somewhere that you can tell the quality of the sushi chef by his tamago. so....? it was fine. I could come for miso and fresh rolls and that'd be enough. might have to wear my noise canceling headphones tho, 'cause that jazz was that bad.

Sushi review only: My friend and I each ordered a special roll and a basic roll ($15 & $16 total each) and this is the only sushi place I've ever been to that didn't give/offer free miso soup with a special roll so that was very disappointing. There was a employee or family member walking between the kitchen and front counter area eating ice cream for a good while. Pretty sure its still against health dept regulations to eat food in a area where is prepared. There was also a small child (probably of a employee/worker) running between the kitchen and front of the house too. The basic rolls were just that, basic. The sumo was okay. My friend got the tsunami and that one was actually quite good. Might come back to try the Thai food but seeing a employee eating a ice cream cone and walking around the kitchen makes me leery about the sanitary standards of food prep and output.

Sushi was ok; got the spicy salmon, spicy tuna& awesome roll. The awesome roll seemed interesting (scallop topped with salmon)., I liked that the options were not fried but nothing special to it & on the pricy side. I get that one was a special roll but there wasn't anything that great about it. I've definitely had better sushi but worth a try. And the lady who took my carry out seemed dumbfounded when I asked to if they substitute white for brown or cucumber.. She in a very rude tone was like how can we make sushi w/o rice.. I quickly was like ok let me just take a look at menu and will get back to you, I didn't want to hear more of her condescending tone (lol)..anyways got my sushi fix they should really work on better service!

Best Thai food experience anywhere. Our favorites are South Curry Noodle and Pho. The food is simply fantastic, and we are craving for it all the time. We would be visiting more frequently if not for feeling embarrassed to be seen here so often.

First time here since new owners took over 18-24 months ago. Nice decor BUT...Hot and sour soup is neither hot nor sour, just broth with very fine noodles, no veggies. Charged $23 for lunch for two, water and a pop. Yellow curry was mostly potatoes. All food was mediocre. Service inattentive even though we were only two customers for five employees. Won't be going back.

Truly excellent Thai food! I have been to quite a few Thai restaurants in Wayne, Oakland and Livingston Counties since moving back home to Michigan almost two years ago, and I can say that Mali Thai is hands down the best I've been to since moving back! They are quality in terms of food AND customer service! Well done, Mali Thai!

I SO wanted to love this place, but everything fell short. The menu itself is hard to follow and I found myself needed explanation of each dish. Maybe it was just the font that it was typed in because it sent me on sensory overload! The food was sub par and instead of being flavorful...it was overpowered with spice. For the price point, I would expect more quality...but it just wasn't there. I'll drive another mile or so and go elsewhere for Thai food.

Decided to try this place today, as other Thai restaurants I frequent are closed on Sunday, and I'm happy I did! Went in to order carry out, and was promptly greeted and helped. The restaurant itself is nice and has a relaxing atmosphere. The staff was extremely friendly, quick and helpful. I ordered the beef vegetable curry with shrimp also added, and it tasted fresh and delicious. I also got the coconut soup with chicken, and it far surpassed my expectations. It was spicy, but not too spicy to where the many flavors were lost. Excellent!! One thing that was super fantastic is the carryout bag was given to me with a piece of cardboard at the bottom so everything stayed put in the bag. I loved the fact that they were smart enough to do this, thus avoiding a potential mess when driving. It's also great to know that they deliver in a five mile surrounding radius, which is awesome since I work at a nearby plant. This place is now my new favorite. 5 stars all around!!

The sushi AND Thai food is very well done. We went a few months ago and the owner went out of his way to see that we were happy with the meal. Restaurant was clean, prices reasonable, food choices plentiful. I recommend Thai style fried rice, pad thai, and coconut soup!

There was not one thing I did not like about this place! Our server, Lucky, was great - friendly, funny and attentive. The vegetarian spring rolls are hand made. No frozen stuff here! They came out piping hot and were delicious. Neither I or my dining companion really do sushi, but today we felt like being adventurous so we ordered the spicy yellowtail roll (salmon, spicy mayo, cucumber) and The Great Wall (tuna, avacodo, cream cheese, jalapeno, deep fried with creamy balsamic sauce). Both were absolutely excellent. I typically stick to drunken noodle and pad see eww when ordering Thai, but there were items on the menu that I haven't seen at most Thai places. One such dish that caught my eye was the North Noodle dish with egg, broccoli, pineapple, carrots, water chestnuts topped with cashews and peanuts. I am happy that I didn't go for the old standby, because holy cow the North Noodle was GOOOOD! The decor is simple, tasteful and relaxing. The dining area and restrooms were clean. I'm going to enjoy coming back and sampling more of the menu.
