I went here a few days ago as part of a very large group, and had a great time. The food was very tasty, and prepared well. The staff was attentive, especially since our group was large. Service was quick. A few observations, WHY OH WHY would someone bring a child to a place that is geared for adults? Want your kiddies to have a good time, take them to Chuck E Cheese's, or the Mcdonalds playland to play in the pee pee balls! I would say that Genitti's is a good for family's IF the family members are over the age of 17. Oh, and its probably best to leave the sense of entitlement at the door, being that you will be one of many here. The play is not Broadway caliber, but it is a fun 45 min show with some pretty good laughs. All in all, I would rank this as a unique and entertaining experience, and would not have a problem returning, although I would never bring young children to this place...its not fair to them OR the rest of the patrons!
My daughter had her Sweet 16 Party last night, amazing!!!!!!! Laura and her staff made everything perfect. The food was outstanding, everyone had a wonderful time. Can't say enough about how great Genittis' is!
Genitti's is definitely a one-of-a-kind. The moment you walk in, you're family. And not in a fake "darling, it's been aaages" kind of way, but in a "hey, toots, where the hell you been? Everyone's in there waiting for you" kind of way. Warm, exposed brick is covered with autographs and love notes. Every nook and cranny is crammed with family photos as well as photos of notable Detroiters. The theatre next door can be rented for private events or theatre groups. I'd definitely book this for any casual family event. Genitti's has a sweet wedding package. I recommend all offbeat brides or those planning a casual affair to check into the seven-course family-style dinner. This place is the most charming, welcoming restaurant I've ever been in. It's 100% family-run - the manager is the daughter, Laura, and she is the best.

One of the best breakfast places around. Love the ambience and the mishmash of coffee mugs. Staff is very friendly and the food is excellent. Had a great omelet. I loved it. I wanted to stay longer and continue to talk (work breakfast meeting), but there were a lot of guest standing and waiting for the table. Definitely try it when you are out that way. Cheers!
Rebecca's is a place my kids love to eat when we're searching for a last minute breakfast, lunch or dinner. The menu is varied, and has many good daily specials as well. We have gotten to know all of the different waitresses over the 8 years we've been frequenting this establishment. Each are very sweet and great at what they do. Rebecca's aims to please her customers. It used to be the fish tank and train and quiz books that brought us, now, it's the great food and service and familiar friendly faces we come to see. Thanks Rebecca's !
Delicious, delightful and drive worthy!!! I have told many about this quaint little spot with a huge menu freshly prepared dishes, excellent , friendly service and generous portions! I can't wait to return! Maybe I'll try something other than breakfast!!!!

The cinnamon bread here is amazing and honestly the best bread I have ever ate!! I will be returning for it and also to try more things!!
Would give this place a 5, but their bread is consistently underdone by at least 5 minutes in the oven. Which is too bad, because the bread tastes great, but the texture is off -- chewy by being doughy instead of from good gluten structure. Also tried a sour cherry bran muffin and a sugar cookie -- both were good. I just can't stomach paying $7 for a loaf of underbaked bread :-/ 4 loaves in a row now that have been underdone... Otherwise, it has an open interior, a lot of variety, and friendly workers.
Their samples are A WHOLE SLICE... amazing. I bought a loaf of Honey Wheat Bread, sliced, and it's not exactly my thing. My brother on the other hand loves it. It's quite yeasty but I guess some people like that. I have to admit that with a slab of butter it does taste pretty good, but it might be more the butter. LOL. But the bread is extremely fresh and even fluffy! I'll probably be back to check out their other breads but only if I happen to be that-a-way.

They have a flavor of the day which is $1 per scoop! The gelato is quite good. I tried their bananas foster I think, and it was delicious. What a find!
Decent variety of flavors but some of them are made by Guernsey's which I don't think taste good and are below par. The Hudsonville flavors are good.... I would especially recommend the sea side caramel. Gelato is also pretty gud.
They need to check their freezer. Gelato tasted like it had been too warm and refrozen several times

Table 5

Went for dinner on a Friday night. No reservations, and the place was full, but we were seated right away. Waitstaff was helpful and courteous. Able to answer questions on the wine list. We shared the mussels. They were excellent, and the sauce complimented the bread as well. I then had the halibut, and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Over all the atmosphere was nice, the music not too loud, and the art well selected. We will definitely be returning.
Oh what a night! After having some drinks and watching a Tiger's game we strolled around town looking for a place to eat. We had always wanted to try Table 5 so we thought we would give it a shot. It was a beautiful Saturday night. We were seated outside immediately and quickly greeted by our waitress. She was very friendly and our orders came quick. We enjoyed some wine and I had the Salmon and my husband had the NY strip. Both were cooked to perfection. The prices were fair and the food was just outstanding. I will definitely be back (I'm still dreaming about that salmon!!!)
We dined there for our anniversary and it was wonderful! Have been before and experienced a wait for food and undercooked steak, but they corrected it and, thus, we went back. We used Open Table to book and switch our time...all good there. I ordered the featured halibut and it was fabulous! We did get the wrong bill, but our waiter was attentive and polite. We'll be back! Love just sitting at the bar for Happy Hour!

I love ice cream - like, creepy love..and most would say my ice cream palate is well-developed. Guernsey, you're not all that. First, the consistency is all wrong with the hardness and gritty feeling (blech!). Perhaps their goal was to create a wrestling match in my mouth; if that's the case, they win. Next is the flavor, which leaves so much to be desired. I tasted three different ice creams before throwing in the towel and picking a totally different flavor so I wouldn't hold up the line - landing on egg nog. A descriptive word for this particular scoop of frozen mess is simply "ugh". Maybe they're trying too hard, maybe they have missed the whole point of keeping things simple and letting the natural flavors shine...maybe I'm trying too hard to give them the benefit of the doubt. Oh, and their service is horrible. Dropping $30 on ice cream and being told we cannot eat it at a table (for real?) is bizarre. We ate our "ice cream" AKA frozen nastiness on some uncomfortable chairs near the entrance, literally feet within the table we had requested to eat at which had maintained its vacancy until we left. Custard Time is still my Northville gem!
Guernsey's is a Novi/Northville institution. This is a great place to come for an awesome broasted chicken meal or just a delicious scoop of ice cream. The broasted chicken is the best I've ever had. Big, juicy pieces with crispy skin. Go with the broasted potatoes too -- lots of flavor. If it's your first time trying their ice cream definitely go for the butter pecan. I also recommend ordering a glass of their chocolate milk to go with your meal.
I feel like a traitor because I have known this place for 40 years. I love how Kids eat their ice cream on the big rock. The little store/grocery is great. So is the ice cream, but I don't think their chicken is good at all, it tastes, mushy and bla but it just might be me. They are always busy and they have been around forever.

Edward’s Cafe & Caterer

Reviews:
Edward's is by far my favorite cafe in the area. There are so many items to choose from--sandwiches, salads, soups, as well as pasta salads and other entrees like mac & cheese and shepherd's pie. My personal favorite sandwich is the basil vegetarian, which has havarti cheese, carmelized onions, lettuce, tomato, and an amazing basil cream sauce. If you order a sandwich, you also get chips and a homemade onion dip--to DIE FOR. Edward's also offers catering, which my family has ordered before. They are very helpful in placing the order, and everything comes fresh and just as amazing as if it were ordered in the cafe. I'd highly recommend Edward's for lunch or for catering--you won't be disappointed!
There is so much perfection going on at Edwards, it is hard to know where to start. As mentioned by Scott, when you first open the door, you will instantly feel a connection to this deli, with its welcoming colors, homey decor, and smells that make your stomach growl. I have always walked by Edwards and read their sign of specials, which have always sounded excellent. I am not sure why I never wandered in before, but before we even tasted the food, I told hubby that we WILL be back for more. After enjoying the atmosphere, you will be overwhelmed by the wide range of unique deli sandwiches, salads, soups and quiches. The friendly staff will patiently wait and give you suggestions as needed. As I waited for my sandwich to be prepared, I drooled over the perfect looking homemade desserts. I am still amazed that I was able to leave without a pie, torte, scone, muffin, cake, or cupcake. I am not sure why I walked out without one, but I have been thinking about them since I left. Edwards has all the elements for the perfect downtown deli and they are going above and beyond as far as service, quantity and quality of food for your money. I plan to make this one of the businesses that I frequent in downtown Northville. Do yourself a favor and check it out!
Edward's is one of the best soup/sandwich lunch joints in the area by far. We have gone to lunch here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. There's a large selection of unique sandwiches and at least 3 homemade soups daily. There's also a nice salad selection that isn't just your typical run-of-the-mill salad menu. I have gotten the Basil Vegetarian sandwich many times and it is literally to die for. You will be amazed how well Havarti cheese, tomato, caramelized balsamic onions and homemade basil cream sauce on a baguette taste together. Today I got the soup and sandwich combo which came with chips and a little cup of homemade caramelized onion dip. The split pea soup was good. Velvety and not too thick. Lunch at Edward's doesn't stop at soup, salad and sandwich. There are plenty of quiches, homemade potpies, sophisticated cold salads (egg and chicken types), twice-baked potatoes and more. If you're not too full by the end of your meal, there's a beautiful case full of sweets waiting for you. Once I saw mousse cups and the pink lemonade cookie bars I made room for dessert.

In an area surrounded by other cities in which one can get truly fabulous and cheap authentic type Middle Eastern cuisine, I am not quite sure the logic behind this place. I'm used to huge portions of zestily seasoned reasonably priced deliciousness. Here I got small portions of blanded down at jacked up rates. Oh yeah, wait, this is *French inspired* Middle Eastern. Just a tip, the only things French here are small portions, the prices, the attitude, and the pretentious sounding menu. What you are paying for I think is the chic, hipster luring atmosphere. The garlic sauce in here works as does the bread, well what bread they will give you. Do not expect a brimming basket but rather to be on rations, tiny pitas and basically one apiece at a time. You can ask for more but you will wait for it quite awhile after getting a haughty look for the request. What do you mean you need more pita??? The hummus was good but ummmm useless when you have to beg for bread. It was hugely overpriced for the small portion and nothing special, I mean it was good but not anything you cannot get as good or better elsewhere. Also in my opinion when you pay for an app that obviously needs bread to eat it with you should not get attitude for asking for that bread. We tried two different soups, oh pardon me, *Le Potage*. I was not terribly impressed with the pureed red lentil, it just needed more punch, it was very subtle flavor wise. When texture is this bland you need something to make it zip I think or it just feels like a baby food experience. I did however enjoy the white gazpacho here, a cold cucumber and yogurt creation. I think it would be especially good on a hot day and it was also pleasant because it was surprisingly different really. It was the only thing I ate here that made me think, hmmm interesting. The kafta *brochette* I ordered was dry and fairly flavorless. The lamb chops were tough and again lacking something. The accompaniments were nothing to write home about unless you covered them in garlic sauce. Just nothing special at all. I really was disappointed. Where were the spices? Have they heard about marinading? Is this the French part? Service was not stellar, a bit of attitude and just not terribly warm or friendly. Refills of any kind were like pulling teeth, seriously. When I spend this really bothers me. This is not some quick pick up schwarma joint, they are selling themselves as upscale. Could have just been our particular server though. I don't think the best service in the world could have saved our visit at any rate. I guess at the end of the day if this were truly a fusion of French and Middle Eastern and it were offering up clever twists on classics in either direction I would be more interested. I was thinking it would be something special, something new and all I got for the most part was terribly uncreative servings of things I can find happier versions of within a half hour distance. This just seems like basic Middle Eastern standards tarted up with French names as an excuse to charge premium rates. One of the best new restaurants of 2010? F you Sylvia Rector.
Staff is very friendly, food reasonably priced and quite tastey. Look for George as he is never far off with a warm smile a friendly handshake. A great addition to the town. Highly recommended to anyone we talk to.
The owner could not be nicer, actually serving us at the bar and providing my friend with a drink that she never had before. The wine was delicious and the hospitality was amazing. But we were unable to get last minute reservations that evening, understandably so. The next day I heard from another friend that the food is fantastic here and immediately made reservations for Friday night when my sister is coming in from the west coast. A menu with lamb shank and tarte au fromage is sure to be great! I can't wait to go back and will leave a review when I taste the food!
