In an area surrounded by other cities in which one can get truly fabulous and cheap authentic type Middle Eastern cuisine, I am not quite sure the logic behind this place. I'm used to huge portions of zestily seasoned reasonably priced deliciousness. Here I got small portions of blanded down at jacked up rates. Oh yeah, wait, this is *French inspired* Middle Eastern. Just a tip, the only things French here are small portions, the prices, the attitude, and the pretentious sounding menu. What you are paying for I think is the chic, hipster luring atmosphere. The garlic sauce in here works as does the bread, well what bread they will give you. Do not expect a brimming basket but rather to be on rations, tiny pitas and basically one apiece at a time. You can ask for more but you will wait for it quite awhile after getting a haughty look for the request. What do you mean you need more pita??? The hummus was good but ummmm useless when you have to beg for bread. It was hugely overpriced for the small portion and nothing special, I mean it was good but not anything you cannot get as good or better elsewhere. Also in my opinion when you pay for an app that obviously needs bread to eat it with you should not get attitude for asking for that bread. We tried two different soups, oh pardon me, *Le Potage*. I was not terribly impressed with the pureed red lentil, it just needed more punch, it was very subtle flavor wise. When texture is this bland you need something to make it zip I think or it just feels like a baby food experience. I did however enjoy the white gazpacho here, a cold cucumber and yogurt creation. I think it would be especially good on a hot day and it was also pleasant because it was surprisingly different really. It was the only thing I ate here that made me think, hmmm interesting. The kafta *brochette* I ordered was dry and fairly flavorless. The lamb chops were tough and again lacking something. The accompaniments were nothing to write home about unless you covered them in garlic sauce. Just nothing special at all. I really was disappointed. Where were the spices? Have they heard about marinading? Is this the French part? Service was not stellar, a bit of attitude and just not terribly warm or friendly. Refills of any kind were like pulling teeth, seriously. When I spend this really bothers me. This is not some quick pick up schwarma joint, they are selling themselves as upscale. Could have just been our particular server though. I don't think the best service in the world could have saved our visit at any rate. I guess at the end of the day if this were truly a fusion of French and Middle Eastern and it were offering up clever twists on classics in either direction I would be more interested. I was thinking it would be something special, something new and all I got for the most part was terribly uncreative servings of things I can find happier versions of within a half hour distance. This just seems like basic Middle Eastern standards tarted up with French names as an excuse to charge premium rates. One of the best new restaurants of 2010? F you Sylvia Rector.

Staff is very friendly, food reasonably priced and quite tastey. Look for George as he is never far off with a warm smile a friendly handshake. A great addition to the town. Highly recommended to anyone we talk to.

The owner could not be nicer, actually serving us at the bar and providing my friend with a drink that she never had before. The wine was delicious and the hospitality was amazing. But we were unable to get last minute reservations that evening, understandably so. The next day I heard from another friend that the food is fantastic here and immediately made reservations for Friday night when my sister is coming in from the west coast. A menu with lamb shank and tarte au fromage is sure to be great! I can't wait to go back and will leave a review when I taste the food!

This is such a great place in Northville. The food is authentic Lebanese for the northern region of the country. The Kebbe (Lebanese steak tartare) is to died for it is that good. I suggest if this is your first visit, order for a party of 2 or 4 dinner special. You'll have a variety of meats and chicken; not to mention plenty of rice. Make room for the kafta and the Lebanese coffee made by George himself.

This place is the definition of a restaurant that gets better with age. A feeling of personalized hospitality wafts through upon any visit here and the food has steadily improved. This should now be considered one of the 3-4 best Middle Eastern restaurants in an area inundated by them. I seemingly judge most restaurants in the category by their fatoosh and this is the best I've had. Radishes and prolific use of parsley is a must, as is that intensely citrusy and sumac infused dressing. Their version with the added feta and garlic roasted chicken is a dish I could eat 3 times a week. Falafel is also one of the 2 or 3 best iterations I've ever had. The Beirut Nights dessert brings the rosewater to the forefront and is a great way to end the meal. Good wine list, wonderful atmosphere and confident service.

Whenever I'm in town I make sure to spot here! Delicious salad, great shawarmas and wonderful service! Downtown Northville was lacking middle eastern food, and this is the spot to be!

Very good Mediterranean Cuisine. The cabbage rolls were excellent. I had a chicken schwarma entree, and I thought it was delicious. My fiance has a delicious Mediterranean chicken salad, and she loved it. My fiance's parents had crushed lentil soup that was really good. Everyone in our group was happy with our meals, and we'll definitely return in the future.

My wife and I stopped in here at 6pm after viewing the excellent "Buy Michigan "event in Downtown Northville. It was a mistake. We both ordered the lintel soup which was ok. Then I ordered the meat Shawarma and my wife ordered the Crab Cakes. The waitress kept saying our order was taking a while because the crab cakes were made fresh. Twice she said this. Finally at 6:50 I got the managers attention and told him that if we did not have our order in three minutes I was leaving. He said the crab cakes took a while because they were made fresh. I told him if that's the case he should put on the menu that they will take 45minutes. Our order came in three minutes. The "fresh" crab cakes were a joke. A strange taste and no lumpy crab---looked and tasted like all filling. My Shawarma was room temperature and a little tough. The wines were costly for a small pour. The manager never apologized. I'll never go back.

Stopped in today for lunch during the Buy Michigan Festival. Not a lot of people inside. Like the decor, a little French, a little Mediterranean and a little antique shoppy. Shelby was our server and she was polite and very friendly. She brought some bread and garlic spread to start us off. It was three pieces of small pita and the garlic spread is very garlicky .We ordered a couple of appetizers and a Falafel wrap. I had the stuffed cabbage and the pastry cigarettes. Both were the appetizers. The pastry cigarettes came as 3 stuffed with herbed cheese and 3 stuffed with spiced meat all in a thin pastry wrap. Rather small but tasty, herbed cheese was better filling. The stuffed cabbage was very different then what I have usually had. These came as 3 long rolls of cabbage, think foot long hot dog size, stuffed with a fluffy filling of spiced meat and rice. The kicker was the lemon mint sauce that was drizzled over it as opposed to tomato based sauce. Very tasty. The Falafel wrap was pretty standard. Service was good until the place got busy, inside and out, then Shelby had to do a lot of running with help from owner and other staff. She also seemed to be the bartendress. I would go back for lunch again but dinner prices may keep me from trying them. All in all this is a go to place in my book.

Can always count on good crushed lentil soup & garlic sauce with olive oil. So hard to find places that use clean quality oils these days. George is about quality ingredients that taste great!

Service was alright, had to tell waitress multiple times to bring us bread. Really good and juicy chicken. Never had hummus and tried it for the first time here... Not bad

I have been here twice, once for dinner and once for lunch. Wait staff was pleasant but not too knowledgable about wine. Food was excellent both times. Bread was fresh and hot with a side of garlic sauce. Dinner was a little on the high side $15.95 for an entree but did include a nice salad. Very good lunch specials. Rice pudding and tiramisu were fair. Definitely would go back.

Not sure what the beef is in other reviews. I go here a lot and I'm a big Lebanese food guy. Very special French infused Lebanese run personally by "George". I've eaten almost everything on the menu but come back for the vegetarian platter and the lamb chops. I've had inexpert and slow "high school kid" waiters here which can be annoying but this is one of my two go-to places in northville.

I finally got a chance to try this place after a movie night with some friends. I had heard so many mixed reviews about this place that I never bothered to try it out for myself.... I was soooo hungry and when some fresh warm puffy pitas with garlic sauce were placed on the table, I dove right in. Yum! I promptly ordered a Cosmo too. For dinner, I chose the Black Tiger Shrimp entree with rice and seasonal vegetables for $18.75. The shrimp were good and had a nice flavor but the "seasonal vegetables" were two tiny piles of chopped, shrunken/rendered down mushrooms which tasted like they had an entire shaker of salt added to them. Not good at all. Sadly, I wouldn't order this again. For dessert, we all split the gluten free chocolate tart which was super rich and yummy. There are a couple things I wanted to mention about the staff in general. One thing that always bothers me, in any restaurant, is when the wait staff are allowed to sit at empty tables during down time. This seems to be encouraged here. Another thing that bugged me was that the owner was sitting a couple booths away from us having a conversation on his cell phone. Isn't there an office where it would be more appropriate to conduct business? Am I the only one who is bothered by this? Also, the bartender was quite ungracious/borderline rude when my friend changed her mind about ordering a second drink. I guess I won't be running back here anytime soon but I did notice that they have tawook sandwiches on the menu which are an addiction of mine. So I will have to try those out at some point since we live 5 minutes away.

George has always been kind and eager to please whenever we visit his restaurant. The food is delicious French inspired Mediterranean. Try the ratatouille, it is awesome. He has recently made a change to his menu to include some more popular American foods, so I imagine that anyone could find something they like.

This is one of the best mediterranian restuarants I have been to. The service is really fast, everyone is so friendly and professional. I am huge falafel fan and I was impressed that they have baked falafels. I chose, baked ones (they also have fried) of course, and they were amazing. It came with tahini sauce, salad and pickles. For lunch special they also had soup (lentil soup) that comes with falafel dish (4 falafels). Have to say - the soup was not that good, I am huge Ollies lentil soup fan and making lentil soups at home, and this one was not the best (I make much better, adding lemon and making sure its not too much blended). I think they used potato in it, not sure, but it tasted sort of floury to me. They also have italian nights, when they have italian chefs, cooking italian dishes. Another thing, their drinks are really expensive. However, I will go back again. They have amazing chicken shawarma dish that is soo tasty.

Atmosphere is amazing and the kabobs were phenomenal! This is a great little find. We waited a long time for our food, but had wine/hummous to keep us busy while we enjoyed our surroundings.

Hubby and I stopped by here this evening with friends just for drinks, so the only food I can attest to is the garlic dip, which is served with fresh-from-the-oven pita. It is heavenly. Melt-in-your-mouth creamy, the dip is roasted garlic with sea salt and olive oil. Just be sure everyone you're going to be with for the rest of the day or night also has a taste!

I love this place, George is personable, welcoming and a great assistant as to what to order this evening. My husband wants to eat here everytime we go out, it is so comfortable and satisfying. The vegetarian lasagne is terrific, nice wine selection, great salads and lamb. I don't understand some of the more negative reviews, having been at this restaurant 8 or more times for dinner having wonderful service and meals.

Love the decor and atmosphere, and the place has a decent wine list - especially for a middle Eastern restaurant. However, there are much better Middle Eastern restaurants out there (Sheesh, La Marsa) that give you much larger portions for less money. Service during my visit tonight was slow, and was disappointed when I ordered fresh juice for my daughter, which they were out of 2 ingredients for. Hummus is bland. The garlic sauce, is perfect, however, they bring you basically 1 tablespoon at at time- not nearly sufficient for 3 guests to dine on.

Fantastic food, professional attentive service, and great atmosphere. I really like this place. First time here. Went with another couple, and for starts, we ordered up a plate of hummus and a plate of baba ganoush. Very fresh tasting hummus, light with a tinge of lemon - excellent. As you know, baba G. can be a bit random - Le George's is mildly smoky, yet has a full flavor - I don't like super smoky Baba's anyway, so it was perfect - and we received A LOT of the fresh house made mini pitas [don't quite know what the other reviewers were complaining about!]. It was so good, I ended up eating way too much and was kinda full by the time my entree arrived. I selected the red lentil soup, which is indeed of a finer texture, but I found it to be hearty and very flavorful - comfort food city! The others ordered up the the yogurt based gazpacho, which is apparently an acquired taste. They didn't care for it that much. One of our party ordered up the Lamb Shank - very tender meat on the bone wonderfullness with a tangy tomato'ey sauce underneath, superb flavor and perfectly cooked. My wife really enjoyed the majadra lentil bowl entree [forgot the name?], the exotic spices therein had us wondering what they were, but all agreed it was a very tasty dish - and the lentils were cooked nicely, which most places don't manage to do. I ended up ordering the 'dinner for one' [of which another of our party also selected], which is a platter containing a broiled lamb kibbee "log" [?], and one lamb kabob, and one chicken kabob [on real metal skewers]. I've rarely had better - the lamb kabob was so tender and had that wonderful hot char-grill flavor. The kibbee log had a nice black peppercorn spicy snap to the flavor and was very addictive. The chicken also was cooked perfectly - juicy with nice char on the outside. All the kabobs reminded me of how many times I've gotten these things only to be disappointed by overcooking - these three were simply delicious - -Le George's has it locked down solid when it comes to the cooking. As for the service, no complaints here. Very attentive, friendly and polite. We asked for another bread basket of pita, and it arrived promptly. Water's were filled up regularly, and they made sure I had a replacement beer right as my first one ended. The dining room is nicely laid out, the L-shaped bar is pretty cool, and I enjoyed being able to see the chefs cooking in the open kitchen. Nicely done! Side note here: I originally ordered the stuffed Kousa [a baby winter squash stuffed with rice and lamb] and the Baby Eggplants stuffed Kousa-style. I'd never had this before so I was a little bummed out when Mr. Le George came over and told me that they ran out, and only had the vegetarian versions. After seeing how awesome my friend's 'dinner for one' plate looked, I requested that as my dinner substitute. The very gracious and apologetic, Mr. Le George nicely brought over four of their house made spicy cheese pastry rollup appetizers to make up for the inconvenience. It's nice to see an owner care about his restaurant like that, and I'd rather eat at a place that runs out of "made today" stuff, than a place that grabs another tub of pre-made out of the freezer, so win-win, in my book. Le George is not your typical steamy/greasy windowed gut buster Mediterranean-ish restaurant. Unlike some of the negative reviews, I found the portions to be a bit on the large side, if anything, so I'm a bit skeptical of the naysayers complaint. The prices are not cheap, nor expensive. I do agree that for what you pay, the quality of the ingredients and the care in which they are prepared and cooked, are well worth the price. I will definitely be back [to try some of the french oriented fare] - it was awesome!

I picked up a chicken kabob dinner, hummus and extra garlic sauce for carry-out and it was perfect. I had a salad with chicken on it when I dined in recently and that was also very good. The atmosphere is really cozy and comfortable.

We went into this restaurant not knowing what it was. We were looking at a house in the area and this place looked inviting. We went in and noticed it is middle eastern food, Lebanese. I am middle eastern and have eaten at almost every middle eastern restaurant in southeast michigan. Those do not compare to Le George. In fact, the authenticity of the cooking only compares to my Grandma's cooking. I had the veggie grape leaf appetizer. I asked for them cold and with a lemon. I recommend you request them this way. They were excellent. The owner came over and when I asked him more about a Lebanese gazpacho on the menu. He insisted on providing me with a sample. It was excellent. He asked if my son eats hummus and brought some over for him, which my one year old loved. I also ordered the Lentil soup, excellent. Salads, excellent. My wife had the m'jadra(sp), excellent. But the best thing was the rice pudding- served cold, with cinnamon- excellent. Atmosphere was excellent. Waitress was great, owner was great. Enough said - go there!

How does this place not have 5 stars? Came here w/ locals, seeing as I'm from LA, but it was seriously one of the best meals I had in Michigan. Albiet, the locals I came with are weekly customers and they know the owner, but the food speaks for itself. It was pretty slow that night, but we had a sampling of appetizers and entrees, and I'll admit, I didn't pay the bill (or see if for that matter), but I gladly would come back here on my own and pay 15+ a person if need be. I'm craving the pita and garlic sauce as well as the salad as I type this in remembrance... also the calamari is heavenly, not typical but sooooo good.

The staff at this place keeps it running like a finely tuned swiss watch. The chef has a real talent for putting together authentic arabic dishes. Plus they serve delicious garlic paste and bread with every order, it's a great place for a lunch. The chicken schwarma is balling every time.

I agree with Liz W below. This is overpriced for above average middle eastern fare. The wine pour is stingy, the portions of hummous and tabbouleh are scant -- and while tasty,,t the location doesn't command double and triple the prices at, say, La Pita in Dearborn. The waiters are inexperienced and don't understand service recovery. The owner does, though, and seems like a gracious gentleman. They are experimenting with a guest chef on certain days of the week -- fairly expensive, but interesting. I think they should just commit to gingo in a different direction with their menu. -And re the wine, either charge less for the tiny pours, or charge more and pour more -- you have to excel at something-- either bar or food; preferably both.... and Le George does neither. Maybe turn it into a great Italian place?

Very cool spot. Just what Northville needs. Has an international vibe that goes beyond the food to the decor and the feel. I recommend it. Great shwarma and hummmus. Nice bar area, too. Outside seating is great in the Summer too.
