Two years since my last visit and this place has still MFin' got it! Did I just get covered in a heavy dusting of powdered sugar compliments of the vanilla angel? YOU BET I DID! Did I stare at my sweater covered in the white stuff and contemplate, for a brief moment, licking that ish clean? SURE DID. Did we just walk out with a dozen donuts in flavors like NY Cheesecake, Red Velvet, S'Mores and more? YOU'RE DAMN RIGHT WE DID. Was it less than 10 dollars? HECK YES. What a bargin! The car smells so heavenly. I'm not sure the box we took is going to make it to our friend's/host's place in Chicago. Reeses peanut butter cup donut, your days are numbered.

Yummy glazed donuts, cider, and coffee. Friendly staff, convenient drive-thru service, great prices. Tip: If you're going to try the specialty cake donuts, make sure you really love the flavors you're about to eat. I tried ordering the Peanut Butter & Jelly donut and the jelly tasted too thick and corn-syrupy for my personal taste. Sticking to the incredibly delicious fresh glazed!

Loved the filled donuts- actually had filling unlike chain stores. Boston Cream and Powered With Blueberry jelly were yummy,. Homemade quality and good value. Will be on our stop list when in the area again.

All I have to say is wow, what a local treasure. I happened to be in the area and was surprised to see that a donut shop was basically the most positively-reviewed place on Yelp. I decided to stop by to pick up a couple of donuts for breakfast. I don't really remember what kind of donuts I got -- I just asked the girl behind the counter which ones were here recommendations and she pointed out a couple that were really popular. So, by my standard these donuts were huge -- perhaps not twice as large as I'm used to seeing but pretty darn near. One was dusted with powdered sugar and filled with the airiest cream I've ever encountered in a donut. To my surprise the filling wasn't overly-sweet, so even though I was eating a donut it didn't make me feel too guilty about consuming a sugar bomb. The other donut (which I saved for the next day) was similar, though it had a sweeter glaze than the powdered sugar dusting. Even a day old, the donut was moist and delicious. Anywhere else, I'm sure these donuts would have been considered a "specialty" donut, which would mean $2 a piece at my favorite donut shop in the town where I live. Here they were all considered just plain ol' donuts, a mere 89 cents each. I thought about stopping in again before leaving town, but the shop was in the opposite direction from where I was going. I still kind of regret not going back to give their apple cider donuts a try ....

THIS is my favorite donut shop of all time. Particularly their cake donuts. A somewhat crisp exterior that hides a deliciously soft interior. I don't know what kind of oil they fry their donuts in, or what different twist they add to their dough, but these taste like no other donut I've ever had. Pretty much every aspect feels optimized. I love the crazy sugary flavors like Snickers, for what it's worth. I live in NC now, but nearly every time we make it back to Michigan I make this a top priority. Good heavens, my mouth just started watering...

Delicious donuts. We need a place like this in San Diego. Nice ol mom and pop's looking place with regulars sitting to the side enjoying their donut and coffee. Every time I'm in town visiting my sister, Sweetwater's is a must stop (along with Biggby's and Jimmy John's). Open 24 hours with an abundance of yummy donuts to choose from. There's even a drive through! My faves are the blueberry and cherry cake donuts but sadly they are not there daily. But I do like their glazed, chocolate and cake donuts that seem to be regulars there. They're not warm when I've tried them mid afternoon but they taste fresh and not dry. My sister likes the boston creme here. The raspberry bear claw is huge and delicious too! Ugh I"m just drooling thinking of this place....

These donuts are nothing les than amazing. You can get 24 donut holes for $3.99!!! Good luck not eating them all at once. My absolute favorite donuts are the sprinkled ones, they are a must-have!!!!

This place has more sugar than a Crystal Sugar Factory. I must say, Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts should be deathly afraid of this place. It'll definite satisfy any sugar fix and could very possibly be a solution for stabilizing those with Bi-Polar Personality Traits. Fantastic staff, so-so coffee, and damned inexpensive.

can't get enough! and the fact they're 24 hours... awesome.

  • Lisalynn K.

Best donut place ever. I love the selection they had. All the traditional kinds plus some out there flavors as well as every type of candy bar combo you could ever want. I live in Detroit and was working out this way for a week. I drove past it on my way to work and decided to stop in on day 2. Part of me (waistline) wishes I never found this place, but it was so awesome I kept coming back. Nothing was a disappointment. Staff was very friendly as well.

I miss this place, and I make it a point to snag a doughnut or three every time I'm back in the 'zoo. The cakey doughnut goodness is impossible to resist.

  • Justin C.

Best donuts in the world. Period. So many selections. Try Grasshopper and many candy-bar variations. Open 24 hours. Buy lots. Bring for your friends.

Sweetwater's doesn't need another five-star review, but it can't hurt. A word of advice for out-of-towners -- if you're thinking about buying some donuts to share with locals (say you're going to an business meeting with some local clients), you need to bring Sweetwater's donuts. If you try to bring grocery store donuts or Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts or Tim Hortons, people will look at you funny, or maybe nod politely and smile. It would be like you said "We're gonna work through lunch so I've arranged for some pizza," and then pointed to a toaster oven and a box of frozen pizza bagels. In Kalamazoo, donuts means Sweetwater's.

  • Puck H.

The best donuts by far in the country. There is a reason Kalamazoo hasn't needed a Dunk'n Donuts for 20 years. This place put them out of business

I stopped in here on my way through Michigan and was very glad that I did! The different kinds of donuts were really unique and everything that I tried was delicious.

Awesome old fashioned doughnuts. The doughnuts are moist, very tasty and a very good selection to pick from. We got through the line fast found out they were open 24 hours. The best I have had in awhile. For sure getting an order in to take to work for employees. Reasonably priced for such a great tasting morning treat.

The donuts are delicious and there are so many varieties. I grew up eating sweetwaters and it's the only place I like donuts

Normally, I hate doughnuts. These, however, are no ordinary pastries. Each one tastes amazing. They are the perfect balance of cake and fried texture. I recommend all of them, but the German chocolate doughnut especially.

  • Moe f.

All the trendy ass doughnuts shops popping up in Chicago can learn a thing or two from this spot. For $10 you can get a dozen delicious and unique doughnuts. I'm a fan. Next time I'm in town will defintely be back

  • Kimberly J.

Delicious!! The place to go for a doughnut in the area. Tons of flavors to choose from that do rotate from time to time. The creams, custards, and jellies are all great. I think sprinkle road has better flavors the majority of the time vs. the stadium location. Cinnamon rolls and some doughnuts come in LARGE sizes. Never seen a doughnut place serve a "chocolate" creme filling. Unique flavors like reeses, pb & j, mounds, ny cheesecake, etc; The fountain pop is blah. I wouldn't bother. A plus that is has a drive thu and open 24 hours.

Great donuts, great service. Tasty, creative donuts do not need to cost $3.50!

  • Laura C.

Run, Don't Walk to this fabulous donut shop. Thank goodness, they are open 24 hours. I really wish we lived closer. We bought a dozen and they were so delicious. Apple fritters bigger than your two hands!

  • Jennifer D.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Everything was amazing. I had not been to Sweetwater before so I was struggling to choose the perfect donut. The staff was more than patient with me and talked me through some of their specialties and best sellers. Walked out with 3 donuts and a coffee for $4. You can't beat that. When in Kalamazoo, this place is a must!

Don't know how I ended up here, all I know it's that I did and I loved it. You need to try these awesome donuts If you live by, you are lucky and I hate you!

  • Mark K.

Yes, the best donut shop in the world and they make their donuts on sight. They're open 24 hours! Try my favorite, the chocolate cloud, but leave one for me! If you take the last one, Il'll still have my second favorite, the red velvet. Can you believe they make such a wide assortment of donuts? When you walk in you'll peer into the cabinets and see the biggest donuts you've ever seen. They're tasty too, but filling like a paczki

    (5)
  • Annie B.

Mmmmmm, donuts.... Homer Simpson would love it here! Over the years my tastes have evolved but I'm always coming back for donuts. My personal fave is the Boston cream pie (stopping to wipe the drool off just thinking about it) with the Chocolate cloud a close second. I am not of fan of overly sweet icings but there is just something about the fluffy, yummy, chocolatey goodness inside the cloud. But the boston cream has The Best Filling Ever, its almost like an éclair but better because it's a donut! The kids are fanatic about the red velvet donut holes but they'll eat any of the holes because they are just that good. The donuts I mean...

  • Mick B.

My college girlfriend worked at Sweetwater's back in the day- I so appreciate that she introduced me to their donuts. OK I confess- I appreciated what she used to do with a white Hermes scarf too. But I digress. Simply put: I love Sweetwater's in Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. It is an old-school donut shop where people come to enjoy a pastry and a cup of coffee. Sweetwater's has stayed true to their roots and not branched out trying to be a full service restaurant like DD. Because of that, their old-fashioned cake donuts are truly worth going out of your way for.

  • Ben F.

I've never been a big sweets kind of guy but this place is phenomenal. Sweetwater's has the best donuts I've ever eaten. There is something so magical about walking in at 12:30 am for a fresh made apple fritter which has become a tradition whenever my old buds come in from out of town. Not only are the donuts amazing but the staff is completely friendly as well. I've never had anything less that great experiences from this place. If you are looking for a real taste of Kalamazoo this is a great place to start.

Used to live in Kalamazoo and would frequent here when in need for a donut fix. Their cake donuts are delectibly scrumptious! Definitely a gem in a small city.

  • Scott H.

Its all oversize and delicious. The selection is overwhelming, the donuts are huge. and they are open 24 hours. I figured there would be more to say about this, but thats about it. Way better than any big chain. Coffee is a bit limited, but its a donut place first and coffee seems to be there just for needing something warm to drink with a donut, and I like that the energy is put into the one thing they do right. It used to be the case that they did not take credit cards, and that saved me while going to school in Kalamazoo, but now they do.

    (5)
  • Josh M.

There's a reason dunkin donuts can't move into Kalamazoo. This is it. Open 24 hours, but watch out for the drunks coming across the street from wayside after midnight..

Better than Krispy Kreme, a bit less sugary, definitely bigger, but so much less accessible to me living back in the Detroit area. This is the actual location of doughnut heaven. I went to Western and have the Sweetwater butt to prove it. I spent many a night in this joint sucking down coffee and nibbling on a doughnut. My parents love it here as well from numerous vistis, first to visit me at school now to Firekeepers In Battle Creek (they have a shop there too) to gamble. I introduced James to it on the way to Chicago one weekend and now he is an addict too. My first fave is the giant apple or cherry fritter, Glazed with a light layer happy sugar coma stuff and containing juicy bits of fruit and cinnamon to jazz it up. I also love the smaller (relatively speaking) angels. The vanilla angel is filled with vanilla cream and rolled in powdered sugar and is the best of the two. The chocolate angel filled with chocolate cream is also quite tasty though. I also like the wide variety of cinnamon rolls but haven't had one in years because there is only so much doughnut room in my stomach and I am not here often enough to experiment. My mom likes the cream filled giant squares topped with vanilla icing, they come with peanut or coconut topping and she will take either. My dad is a chocolate covered longjohn fan and states that the pastry cream is by far the better filling compared to custard. I agree but I am just a pastry cream girl. James is the wild card. He will eat any doughnut and quite enjoys trying to pilfer my faves. Stealing my doughnuts is not something I would recommend BTW. Other than mine, he enjoys the following yeast raised varieties: chocolate clouds, peanut butter cup, New York cheesecake and chocolate iced rings. Of the cake doughnuts he likes the Reese's flavor but says the cake are generally not nearly as spectacular as the yeast raised. I would advise if you want a specific variety to order them in advance. They have a website and an e club (freebie doughnuts, yay) but you have to call in to order. As we do not live nearby and we all have particular faves we never chance it. We also have a family rule if you pass the by the area you have to bring them back to everyone here. I know I gave Krispy Kreme 5 stars but if I could give this place 10 stars I would. Seriously. If I had one in the neighborhood I would always come here instead. of course I might not fit through the door if they were nearby.

Best donuts ever. You will never want a donut anywhere else ever again once you've tried Sweetwaters.

I've had a dangerous love affair with Sweetwater's for quite some time now. Back in high school my friend and I would take midnight trips for donuts on a semi-regular basis. Years later it's now a special treat for me when I visit my folks. One of the top 10 best places for donuts in the states--hands down I've never had anything better!

    (5)
  • Erin W.

What more could one ask for? Open 24 hours Huge selection (sprinkles, glazed, and cherry are great) Perfect taste and texture Cheap Multiple locations for your convenience Have seasonal favorites like apple cider in the fall and paczkis for fat Tuesday. If you don't agree, you don't like donuts.

Doughnut shops in Michigan really need to take a cue from Sweetwater's. Filled with all sorts of awesome flavors and open 24 hours? Oh yeah, that rocks my world. Seeing as I am currently typing this review with three and a half doughnuts sitting in my belly, I'd say five stars is a fair rating. One of my favorites is the vanilla angel with its luscious cream filling (Definitely better than custard). The PB and J doughnut was also a serious treat and was like eating the classic sandwich, especially whenever I got a mouthful of both frosting and jelly. I've really liked the cake doughnuts too, like the Reese's, which piles on the peanut butter frosting, and the glazed sour cream variety (A little tangier than a regular glazed cake), which we were actually given two of for free today! My dad had an apple-filled one and told us that it was one of the better apple-filled doughnuts that he has had. I've only been here three times so far, but believe me when I say that I think I have found my go-to place for doughnuts, even if it is as far as Kalamazoo. I can't wait to try other flavors, especially the red velvet and the New York Cheesecake!

Taffy.Apple.Donut. The donut has green apple in it, caramel cover, with peanut bits on top. It's called heaven and it costs a dollar. Open 24 hours, tons of choices, friendly service, and delicious as hell.

Great variety of fresh donuts. Drive-thru open 24/7. Nuff said!

  • Nick C.

Best donuts ever! Hands down! No contest! When I visit friends in Youngstown, OH and in my hometown in West Virginia, friends always ask me to bring a dozen Sweetwater's Donuts. Everything here is just amazing. The powdered sugar, the coconut donut and the cinnamon rolls are truly amazing. When I'm ready to consume mass amounts of sugar and calories, I go hear. I love love love this place!

    (5)
  • Buggin O.

Flavor! Real doughnuts in crazy amounts of variety (ie. red velvet old fashioned) for reasonable prices without any pretensions of being trendy. 24 hrs. Don't sleep on this joint.

    (4)
  • Ken M.

Bad ass donuts and sooo freakn good!!

    (5)
  • Drew E.

The doughnuts here are AMAZING! Best I have ever tasted! My favorites are boston cream, cake, oreo, chocolate cloud, red velvet and grasshopper! The only thing there I am not a huge fan of is the apple fritter which is usually one of my favorites.

  • Kelsey K.

I was totally their toughest critic the 1st time I went there, but man was I wrong. I completely understand why they were ranked some of the best donuts in the country by Yahoo! travel. I wish they made a lemon donut, because they're my fav and if anyone can make one, it's them... But I'm over it. My fav? Uh, any of them. Oh yeah, donuts 24 hr a day?? Uh oh... And they're right by a bar?? SSSSOOO glad I didn't go to Western... Can you say fatty fat pants?!?! What are Dunkin and Krispy Kreme thinkin coming into Sweetwater territory?!?! Well, their thoughts were wrong, whatever they were cuz in the Kzoo/Portage/Battle Creek area, Sweetwaters Donut Mill is it!

  • Jason M.

Ah, August. Kalamazoo will soon be loaded back full of hungry students moving back into the residence halls at Western Michigan, and for this particular student, well, move-in always includes a few boxes-o-heaven from Sweetwater's. This place is pretty much amazing, and considering it's only about five minutes from campus, well... let's just say that thee's a reason one of the most popular study snacks at Western is Sweetwater's doughnuts. The sheer fact that they're open twenty-four hours a day means that anytime you have a craving, well, you can go, get a dozen, and satisfy yourself with something sweet whenever you darn well feel like it! Seriously, thier doughnuts just make you want to om nom nom another one- from the simple glazed offerings to some of thier most amazing creations (the Reese's, the Oreo, the Snickers, the Ney York Cheesecake... and more!) Like others have said, there's a reason that Dunkin Donuts doesn't open here, and there's a reason that Krispy Kreme was run out of town a few years back. Skip Hostess, throw the store-bought in the trash. One bite of Sweetwater's and you'll understand why nearly everyone loves them.

    (5)
  • Jason R.

Wow, came here for my second time while visiting Kalamazoo. Let me say...there is a reason why they ran Krispy Kreme out of town. Damn their donuts are good. So I stroll in during the morning hour. Order a sprinkle donut and a cup of Joe. Sipping my coffee and reading the paper, the sprinkle stares at me to divulge it. Easily influenced I don't resist and take a bite. From the outside the glaze looks hard and like a regular donut. But you would be completely wrong. The glaze is so soft and the donut soo fluffy it almost brought me to tears. Let me say that I'll be here tomorrow and whenever I'm back in Kalamazoo.

  • Ani B.

had to try this place since it had so many great reviews. I was not disappointed. My favorite were the chocolate cake; the german chocolate were the chocolate with german choc icing which was below average - no butter taste and no pecans like real homemade would have. peanut good but dry and crumbly-eat it outside to share all those crumbs with the birds. glazed/yeast not sweet enough for me. apple just OK. would have liked to try the red velvet but they are only made on sunday. yes I will return when in the area.

Awesome doughnuts. Friendly service. Open 24 hours. Drive-thru. If you get the chance, visit this little doughnut shop. They have real doughnuts both cake and pastry in a wide variety.. The flavors vary, but if you can get your hands on their blueberry or strawberry cake doughnuts, they rock. They have classic pastry-cream filled and fruit-flavored cheesecake doughnuts that are great, too. Good coffee and hot cocoa for those cold Michigan mornings. Friendly efficient service, though this place is very good and, therefore, very popular, so if you come in the morning expect a wait.

So good they make dieters tremble in fear! Do NOT go near if you are weak willed. Huge variety of flavor combinations.

  • C M.

Love it! The donuts are fresh whenever I show up. They're really good, and of course the hours are perfect when you live right down the street from them as I did in college. I mean, 24 hour donut shop that actually has really good donuts? Awesome! They were always very helpful to me there, the donuts are a good price, and it's fun to just go and sit with friends at 3am and eat donuts. I live in Chicago now where the donuts shop around me are Dunkin' Donuts. You can't even compare the two. I miss Sweetwater's!

  • Bryan H.

What a great place. This reminds me of the Donut Bank in Evansville, IN. The donuts here were great. Better than Dunkin Donuts, Krispy Kreme, and all the other chains and grocery stores. The service and prices were fantastic! We had 5 different varieties of donut holes, all good. The cinnamon one was the best. As for regular donuts I would recommend the heavy icing ones. They were much better than the regular glazed.

  • Allison E.

So today, June 4, is national donut day. Which awesome. But more importantly, I just encountered an article on MSN listing the 10 best dount places in America. And what would you know? Sweetwater made the list. Not that I am surprised. The donuts are really effin good. In fact, I really want one right now and I can't because I am in Chicago.

    (5)
  • Jen C.

Donuts here were incredible. Yum! According to my in-laws better than any donut in Western Michigan. They are big, cakey, and delicious. We had the Dutch Crumb, Buttermilk, Apple Crisp and Honey Glaze. The place is about 3 miles from downtown Kalamazoo. We'll definitely be back. The coffee was meh! but who cares, the donuts were excellent. Make sure you buy 3 per person or there's going to be blood.

    (5)
  • L.J. P.

These are some of the best doughnuts out there. I haven't found a place anywhere that compares. I tell people from out of town that Sweetwaters is a needed stop. None better.

    (5)
  • Frederica B.

I have to say I am a bit puzzled why people rave about this place. I've never found their donuts to be any good at all. Every time I've had one it seems dry and artificially sweet. Perhaps the only reason they are still in business is because of all the cops working the night shift? ;)

    (1)
  • K S.

There is no comparison to Sweetwater's. None. The selection of donuts is mind blowing. Thankfully, the staff is patient and used to the customers needed a few minutes to decide. If you'd like a few suggestions, the apple fritters are amazing and the cherry cake donuts are absolutely fantastic. Truthfully, there IS not bad choice here (named one of the top donut shops in the country for a reason!). Also, being stuck in Kalamazoo means your options are very limited after 10pm - Sweetwater's is open all night long. So grab a friend, get some donuts and take some time to enjoy a nice life discussion. After midnight, the only other guests will be a friendly police officer or two so you'll practically have one-on-one service!

    (5)
  • SA N.

I've lived and traveled to many places, and Sweetwater's apple fritter is the best. Actually, everything there is the best. I prefer the fritters when they are fluffier and less fried, so on the days that they aren't made the way I like them I go for the long john's instead. But the apple fritters are THE BEST of the best!!!

  • Danielle P.

I fondly refer to myself as Donut Slayer, so when I saw that there's a donut shop in Kalamazoo that made Thrillist's list of top donut shops in America, I knew where I needed to be. The variety was incredible! Most donut shops have the regulars like plain glazed and chocolate, and then like two or three interesting flavors, but this place had so many I couldn't even count. Raspberry cheesecake, New York cheesecake, grasshopper, Reese's peanut butter cup, red velvet, peanut butter and jelly, Mounds, Snickers, caramel apple, super chocolate, vanilla angel.... Lots more I can't remember, plus a lot of various long johns and donut holes. We got half a dozen, but so far I have only eaten the red velvet and the New York cheesecake. The red velvet was really fantastic - good red velvet flavor, not dry, not overwhelmingly sweet, light glaze, etc. The New York cheesecake was good too, but just personally, I felt like the donut-to-filling ratio was off - but that's just a matter of personal preference. (There was a LOT of filling, which I'm sure lots of people like, but it made it too sweet, so I couldn't even finish my donut. That's the first time that's ever happened!) Overall, I don't like in K-zoo, but I think this might just be my new favorite donut shop.

The PISTACHIO MUFFINS OMG!! Iuse to live in Kalamazoo, now I'm in Louisville, ky and I look forward to the 5hr drive just to get to SWEETWATERS. Oh yeah, and the doughnuts are GREAT too.

My daughter recommended their other location to me, but this one is on my way home from dropping her off. I was fairly stuffed by the time I stopped here on my way back to Detroit. I ordered a large coffee and a blueberry donut to go. The coffee was good, fresh, strong, and decently roasted. Sometimes shops like this have over-done coffee, but this was solid. The main even, my blueberry cake donut, was perfection. It was very fresh, slightly crisp on the outside, even with the thin layer of sweet glaze and soft on the inside. It was delicious. My daughter is stuck on some chocolate frosted confection here, and I saw several more that I'd love to try. Their filled long johns look gorgeous, as does the apple fritter. Looking forward to trying a more of these over the next several years!

My fiance and I were looking for alternative desserts for our wedding and thought that our guests might like donuts instead (They'll definitely like Sweetwater's donuts). Sweetwater's met with us in person and allowed us to sample as many donuts as we could eat... and they were amazing. They're going to make us a large personal donut for our wedding cake and supply enough donuts and donut holes for our 100 person wedding for only $85. Not only is it a lot cheaper than a wedding cake, they're better than any wedding cake I've ever had. It's hard to explain why their donuts are so much better than the average donut unless you have eaten them straight from the store. They are fresh, warm, gooey and delicious. Stop by, spend a couple bucks and you'll be blown away.

    (5)
  • Danielle M.

These are by far the best donuts I've ever had. Love the donuts that are like candy bars. The cinnamon roll is the best thing I've ever had. It's moist and you definitely taste sinnamon with each bite! Definitely worth going to!

    (5)
  • Alisha W.

Sweetwater's is the best of the best. Hands down. Not sure which donut to pick? Don't worry about it because you cannot go wrong. There are several locations and all of them are amazing. I've been coming here since I was a kid and each time I go I remember why it's always been a favorite. I've since moved out of state, but each time I come home I stop by and grab a little piece of my childhood. YUM!

  • Liza V.

Holy crap. Does this place deliver doughnuts. Maybe overnight? I mean, seriously! I can only imagine this place is extremely popular with the locals, and it is a must-stop for me (starting now) anytime I'm in the Kalamazoo area. We got a half-dozen: Reese's, Red Velvet, S'mores, Chocolate Lovers, Crumb Cake, and Raspberry Cheesecake. They were all fantastic. Even the next morning. And they are just 89 cents apiece. I know this is fairly standard price for doughnuts, but these are NOT your standard doughnuts!

I have tried other places, but no place comes close to the quality and service of sweatwaters. The best time to get them is late at night because the gas stations want fresh and they are not busy.

Who doesn't love Sweetwaters? Especially anyone with kids, lol!! We don't go as often since we moved, but it's still such a great treat... as much for us as the kids They rarely run out of flavors and offer a great variety! It's one of my husband's FAVORITE coffees!!

The best donuts I have ever tasted in my life, hands down. They are perfectly rich with a slight bit of crispiness to them that validates their freshness. You just don't get that at Dunkin' Donuts, Tim Hortons, etc. And at just $0.85 a pop, man, you can go nuts here. They have all the classics, but offer a wide variety of unique creations as well. Some of my favorites are the "candy re-creations": Snickers donut, Milky Way donut, Reese's Peanut Butter Cup donut. These nationally renowned treats live up to every ounce of good word. The walk-up-style service is quick and efficient so you'll be on your way to sinking teeth into one of these delicious morsels in no time. This place is a Kalamazoo classic.

I have found donut heaven! I happened to be doing some business in Kalamazoo and I drove past this place. The sign said "cider is here!" And I got excited. When I went inside, I was overwhelmed with choices! They have an awesome selection of donuts, donut holes, and cinnamon rolls. Some of them were larger than my head! The employee was SO nice and patient with me, even let me sample a donut hole! I was sold! I ended up walking out with 1/2 a dozen donuts and 2 dozen donut holes....just for myself! The only bad part was that I completely forgot about the apple cider!!

A gem in an unlikely setting. This is an awesome local donut shop in Kalamazoo. Everything around it looks closed down or soon to be closed down, but this place was busy and fantastic. It is just like your hometown donut shop when you walk in. Old men drinking coffee and talking about football. Friendly local folks working the counter and drive thru. We were helped by a college aged girl who walked us through her favorites of an extensive menu of donuts. We ended up getting a half dozen for two people because we couldn't narrow it down and wanted to try a few. We selected Reese Cup (chocolate cake donut with peanut butter frosting, Oreo Filled (yeast donut filled with Oreo style creme and coated with chocolate crumble), Grasshopper (chocolate cake donut with mint creme frosting and chocolate drizzle), Powdered Cake, Old Fashioned Cake, and Chocolate Deluxe (chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and covered with chocolate chips). Added on two chocolate milk cartons and a 16oz coffee and paid $8. The donuts were delicious, but over the top sweet. The service was very friendly.

I wish we lived closer to this place...but then that would mean I would probably be at least 30 lbs heavier. The doughnuts here are amazing. So fresh, so delicious. We have only driven through when we were on the way to Canada or on the way back. This place certainly puts Tim Hortons and Dunkin Donuts to shame. The price per doughnut is actually comparable if not better than those chains, and the quality is superb. The staff is always nice too, which makes it even better. I can't wait for our next road trip to the great white North so that we can have more Sweetwater's doughnuts!!

Ok- so I haven't actually BEEN here but I have had the donuts! Some friends were traveling back from Kalamazoo MI on Sunday. To repay us for letting them park their car at our place they brought us a box of Sweetwater's Donuts. I will never look at another donut the same again. EVER. The box had gotten smashed in the seat, been open for a while, and about 6 hours hold by the time they got to us and I was still in sweet donut heaven! I had a red velvet cake donut, chocolate with peanut butter mousse, and mint chocolate (don't judge...it's a present so I couldn't be rude). I am already awaiting the next time I can find someone traveling through Kalamazoo. Love from Louisville, Kalamazoo... you will the donut challenge.

I was visiting a friend in Kalamazoo and at her recommendation we stopped at Sweetwater's for a quick, heinously unnutritiuous breakfast. I was debating between getting one donut or two, but when it came down to it, I was having such a tough time deciding which flavor to get that I went with two. I would say that move was more than excessive as a) they were both cream-filled and b) they were huge. It stands to reason that I had gained a solid five pounds by the time I had returned from my long-weekend trip. As a point of reference, one is plenty for the average adult, but they're so good you might consider dealing with the bloating associated with having more. For me it came down to the New York cheesecake and the key lime pie. The donuts were so fresh and delicious. They each had just the right amount of sweet and tasted authentic (nothing tasted artificial). The fillings were also significant, not just a little dollop surrounded by mostly dough like you sometimes see in donuts. Just all around a dream of a donut experience.

Donut Mecca! Delicious. First, let me just state that the variety of donuts is staggering (Sprinkles, Crumb, Oreo, Snickers, Chocolate Cloud - that's a yeast donut with chocolate frosting and Fluff filling - the list goes on). I only had a chance to try three varieties on my trip (mini cinnamon roll, boston creme, yellow cake donut with chocolate frosting). The yellow cake donut with chocolate frosting was terrific. Not too dense, but perfectly tasty. After tasting that one, I was impressed, but not overly so. But the Boston Creme...that one put it over the top. Perfect. The creme was delicious, the chocolate on top perfect. If you can hit this place on the way somewhere, DO IT.

Awesome. I bought 2 dozen for work, and it was just amazing. I got there early in the morning and there was still a line. Has to be something in these donuts!

I have a problem. And its name is Sweetwater's Donuts. It is shameful. I love them so. All of them. Even ones I have yet to try. I know I will love them. And open 24 hours! I make my husband go on a donut run whenever?! You know what I'm thinking? Oh yeah, Boston Crème...

I am dead to all other donuts. Try the Apple Crumb. If they are out, stand in line until the morning. I love going home to MI. I love it even more when I remember that Sweetwater's will be waiting for me.

Named one of the Top 10 Donut Shops in the Country for a reason! Obviously, I'm a bit biased since I've grown up here in Kalamazoo, but these are honestly the best donuts I've ever had. Open 24 hours, you can swing through for that late-night chat session anytime ... and trust me, I've spent plenty midnight hours debating life over cake donuts and milk! There's one on Sprinkle Rd, one on Stadium Drive, and another over in Battle Creek on Capital Ave. sweetwatersdonuts.com

Donut heaven! Donuts are my favorite thing ever in the pastry category of foods, and these are worth it. The cake donuts are awesome: nice and hard on the outside, and soft and light and pillowy inside. The yeast donuts are airy and sweet and good, and the interesting variety is probably one of the biggest selling points. There is something for everyone here. Don't delay; if you can get here, do it. It's very close to Interstate 94, so it's not even a real out-of-the-way stop. Perfectly convenient and wonderful. Go! Eat Donuts!

there are so many good things to say about Sweetwater's. their doughnuts are delicious. they are cheap. and maybe most importantly, even though i'm writing this at 2:17am on a Sunday, i could go there RIGHT NOW and get a delicious vanilla creme-filled longjohn (a 'fancy') and two boxes of chocolate milk for like $3. and actually, they're probably putting out fresh doughnuts right this minute. it's almost enough to make me get up and do it, though i'm not hungry in the slightest. it's like a siren song. interesting fact: we used to have a Krispy Kreme here in town, but it's gone now. there used to be a Dunkin Donuts on South Westnedge, but it's gone now. why? i don't know, i didn't own those places, but i'm guessing it's because Sweetwater's is too awesome.

Best donuts I have ever have! They would get 5 stars if their coffee was a bit tastier. Service is always great. Love that they are open 24 hours.

Sweetwater's donuts. Buttery smooth, moist, fluffy as the clouds in the sky, a piece of heavenly goodness. They might actually be as big as one of those clouds floating in the sky. Their cinnamon rolls are as big as my head and apple strudels are as big as my family-size tissue box! A great place to go for any kind of sugar craving~

Delicious. Great selection. You have to try the Peanut Butter & Jelly Donut (it has peanut butter frosting and is fabulous). Good prices. It even has a drive thru if you are really lazy. Considering how much fat and sugar is involved, Sweetwater's is almost too amazing.
