Fresh, delicious, and cheap donuts 24 hours a day? I guess my review could end right there. Sweetwater doesn't look like much from the road. It looks sort of like a pastel shack. It has a drive-thru, for extra convenience. The donuts are good. Better than any chain donut shop, in my opinion. They stock a wide variety of fresh donuts and other baked goods. And did I mention it is open 24 hours? Because if you have a craving for something sugary at 2am, Sweetwater is there for you. The coffee is not so good, but hey, Biggby's is right across the street.

Number one on my list of places to go when I am back in my hometown. Reese Donut is my favorite. 24/7 availability of donuts. It is home for me. Besides, where I live now, getting 6 donuts for less than $5 is impossible.

Food: 5/5. Service 2/5. A damn good donut. Red velvet, Reese's, buttermilk, honeydew, crueller, coconut, nut, sprinkle, long john.

As far as delicious donuts go, this is the best I have found for great donuts. The fritters are outstanding and melt in your mouth!

Feel like most of these reviews are hype more than fact. I agree that the donuts were good, but nothing better than from a bakery that can be found in most communities. I would stop again, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

I have great memories of walking into this smoke-filled donut/coffee shop growing up. Simply the best donuts I've ever had. My long time favorite here is the peanut butter & jelly donut with a pb frosting and jelly filling - can't be beat! We used to always get these on my birthday, and I wish they would open up a satellite location out east in DC so I could keep this tradition alive. I believe this place was also featured in the B-list Kalamazoo movie made a while back. Only downside to this place is it's location on Stadium Drive - one of the ugliest streets in Kalamazoo along with South Westnedge.

Best place ever! And it has a 24 hour drive through! Best thing ever for a college town!!! I've never had a bad donut here!

  • Jamie K.

Unquestionably the best donuts in the county if not the state. The coffee is quite the opposite, though. I wish they would take some pride in that, and improve on it.

We discovered this place during a trip to Kalamazoo and we were thrilled. Good donuts are hard to come by so we visit here every time we are in town. There is a large selection, but I've always found the classics to be my favorite. How can you go wrong with a glazed donut? Or a powdered donut with fruit filling? We've never been let down by the donuts or the service, so we will keep coming back!

Best donuts of life. The end.

Great donuts and other yummy treats. The donuts are so big you can share them (or not) with someone else. This is a must stop for us every time we are in KZoo. I recommend you do the same, you will not be disappointed !

The donuts are addicting, I had the caramel, hmmm but the muffins not as good as the donuts. Next time I will just stick with the donuts :)

  • Pat V.

Donuts are excellent! Their regular donuts are big enough to share and they have donuts that are even bigger than the regular donuts! They have an excellent variety of flavors, Boston Creme, Black Forest, peanut butter and jelly, carmello... the list goes on and on! The biggest problem with Sweetwater's is you can only eat so many donuts at a time. They are still priced well, it is less than $5.00 for half a dozen! Also, they are open 24/7, smart in a college town!!! I want a Sweetwater's in my hometown.....

  • Aly O.

This place has THE best donuts in the state at least. They have a huge selection of various flavors you generally can't find anywhere else and are made to perfection each time. The prices are more than affordable and their coffee is delicious too. I've never been to the BC location but I'm sure it's quite the same as the two Kalamazoo ones. Great places to just sit and relax with a donut and a coffee, at really any time of the day or night. This is an absolute local favorite... Making those who move out of state, miss this snowy state! If you haven't been, it's very worth the drive.

The beat donuts I've ever had in my life . Very cheap and delicious ! If your passing through Kalamazoo , you have to stop by

Sweetwater's was hopping when we stopped in this afternoon. My daughter enjoyed a chocolate frosted cinnamon roll (okay, she saved 2/3 of it for later in the week), and I had a buttermilk glazed donut. Their fried donuts are perfection, so fresh, not overly frosted. It was a nice treat on this cold day.

  • Sarah F.

Grabbed a couple of these donuts on the way out of town and I was pretty impressed! The cake donuts are both fluffy and densely cake-y and the buttermilk glaze was the best! The location is homey with a few tables for dine-in seating and if you're a local, you can even store your favorite coffee mug there to use when you visit! The place does a brisk business--it's open 24 hours and even supplies some of the local convenience stores.

What can I say that hasn't been said before? These are the best donuts in the area. I love the Red Velvet when they have it. I pick up a variety of paczki for my office every year on Fat Tuesday. In my experience, the donuts are more fresh in the mornings and afternoons. I picked some donuts up around 6:30pm the other day and was a little disappointed. It may have been a fluke, though.

  • Alyssa C.

Inexpensive and fantastic donuts! After several recommendations, a friend and I had to check it out while we were in the area. A half-dozen donuts cost $4.79, not bad at all and they're all delicious. They have a bunch of great flavors, but I have to say I liked the classic glazed the best. With such a good donut, it's almost a shame to cover it up with icing.

We were in Kalamazoo for the Bell's Brewery tour and saw Sweetwater's Donut Mill on Yelp as a "must do" when in Kalamazoo. All the reviews were spot on. The donuts are wonderful and it is difficult to find this type of experience in Chicagoland. It will not stop us from trying tho!! Have a game plan, if you are an out of towner. We walked out w a dozen. So delicious! As good as it gets

  • Zak D.

I've had way too many donuts here... considering the quality they are dirt cheap, too. And open 24 hours to boot. The siren's call of Stadium Drive.

    (5)
  • Romeo R.

A Kalamazoo staple! You really can't go wrong with any kind of donut they have to offer. I like to keep it simple and get the Red Velvet donuts. The donut holes more than suffice when they're all out of the donuts... I never thought I would write a paragraph about red velvet donuts but they're that good. My only knock would be that the coffee be more fresh but obviously, it's not what people go there for.

I made a special stop on my way home from Canada to Chicago to stop at Sweetwater's because of all the great Yelp reviews. The donuts are huge and a bargain - I got 18 for $12! Plus I got 6 free donuts on top of that for signing up for their mailing list. I brought a ton to friends but was able to try a bunch myself. Their donuts were good but I have to be honest that I was sadly not blown away. They have amazingly unique flavors like Oreo, New York Cheesecake, Strawberry cake, Snickers, Blueberry filled, Strawberry cheesecake, Caramel Apple, Blackforest, Lemon, Carmello, Apple Crumble, Bavarian, Chocolate Iced Cloud, Peanut, Dutch Crumb, Coconut, Reese's and Buttermilk. To me the standout was the double chocolate and the Reese's....can you tell I'm a chocolate girl? Sweetwater's is a super cute little shop and open 24 hours, how can that be beat!? There is a dine in counter so I would imagine it being a nice little spot for a late night snack if I lived in the area. Giving Sweetwater's the benefit of the doubt, I didn't try a donut until the next day so I'm sure it wasn't it's amazing best or freshest when I finally got to try it. I would absolutely go back & try one fresh right in shop!

Thanks to Cameron for following through! I enjoyed a Sweetwater's donut in my NYC apartment last night. Dreams do come true, right here on Yelp.

Sweetwaters has the best donuts around. They also have good service. It's nice that they are open 24 hrs because if you have a sugar craving late at night Sweetwaters is the perfect place to go too to grab a coffee and exceptional donut.

The service was great! We came in for a wedding and decided to stop by for some donuts. The server gave us extra donuts because we couldn't decide which flavors to get. We had a variety of flavors and they we're all pretty tasty.

I just moved here and I saw the Sweetwaters' sign and knew that was a place I had to try (I was hooked on open 24hrs too Love places like this)! And oh man oh man I'm glad I did. The first time I went I decided I was only going to get one (haven't been able to do that since) and I asked the cashier what was popular and what she liked since it was my first Sweetwater experience. She suggested the Boston Cream Pie and she was money!! Can I say it tasted better than an actual piece of pie??!! Had a steaming hot cup o joe to go with and my day was complete. Do yourself a favor and stop in...pick one if you can...and you'll thank me!

Great service in a cozy and clean shop... I thought donut shops like this disappeared years ago! Very happy to find this place.. Kids and my wife enjoyed breakfast there and got a bunch to go. Great variety and delicious. Also, the donuts are at least twice size of most others and price is a steal for $7 a dozen. If you love donuts like we do, you must stop in this place!

Add my name to the list of fans of this restaurant. When too many donut shops are owned by mega chains, it's nice to find great independent stores that offer higher quality food. The glazed donuts are terrific. They're open 24 hours! My taste in coffee is stronger and bolder than what is served here so I'd stop in Starbucks or a specialty coffee shop to get a good beverage to go with these donuts.

If you are anywhere remotely near Kalamazoo, get in here! You haven't experienced Kalamazoo (or, I dare say, west Michigan) if you don't stop here. The donuts, muffins, cinnamon rolls, fritters, and donut holes are the best I have ever had. Service is friendly and fast. The line tends to stretch out the door throughout the morning and afternoon, but it usually doesn't take long to be served. In the morning rush times, they often have 3 or more people working on the counter. The prices are actually AMAZING compared to other shops. Now that gourmet donuts are trendy (aka, just doing what Sweetwater's has already been doing for 30 years) there are shops in some cities selling donuts for 2-4 bucks a pop. Sweetwater's stays at a firm 89 cents per donut, 4.64 per half dozen, and 7.49 per dozen. Don't forget to ask for a dozen card: The twelfth dozen you buy will be free once you get it all initialed. Here are a few tips: 1. Any of the items in the left front case are fancies. They range in price from $1.37-$1.77. Please don't get mad at the employees because they cost more. It is a bit unreasonable to expect to get an apple fritter the size of your head for 89 cents. Just saying. 2. While the staff is great at replenishing product and keeping it on the shelves, there are some times when it is simply impossible to keep up with demand. If you know ahead that you are going to Sweetwater's, particularly on Friday mornings, and you want a dozen or more donuts, call ahead. 3. For the love of Pete, if you have never been here before, don't go through the drive thru and ask what kind of donuts they have. Come inside!! The experience isn't complete without seeing everything. Don't say I didn't warn you- the next Dunkin' donut you have is going to taste like a plastic bag after trying one at Sweetwater's.

I visited Sweetwater's when visiting from out of town. I ordered the Snickers and Reeses donuts. Both were good in theory, but I only took a few bites of each. The donuts themselves were a little dry, which made them unappealing. We were there really early in the day, so there was no reason for the donuts to be dry already. My boyfriend got a large chocolate donut he was equally unimpressed with. Afterwards both of us felt pretty sick and all we had eaten so far that day were the donuts there. Based on how unappealing the donuts and how they made us feel afterwards, I wouldn't go back.

These donuts are amazing. We can't visit family without bringing at least a dozen with us. When people come visit us, we have to have a dozen waiting. There's a reason they're in demand. The donuts are delicious, almost like cake but not too heavy. They have creative flavors for every season, along with gigantic versions of apple fritters and long johns. They even have a cinnamon roll as big as my head. The drive-thru makes it really easy to grab a half-dozen on the weekend, and the interior is a nice place to sit and have coffee while studying for exams.

    (5)
  • Bill S.

If you intend to sit inside, order at the donut counter first and tell them you'll be setting over there. Then they will bring your coffee and donuts. Previously I gave them 3 stars for not waiting on us when we sat at the counter... After a year and several stops to their store they changed my opinion. Now I rate them best "donut" shop in Kalamazoo!

I desperately fought loving this place for 3 major reasons: *my arteries *my undying allegiance to Mel-O-Creme in Springfield, IL *my deep concern for the ever-increasing size of my ass ...but I was wrong. So. Very. Wrong. It's amazing and it's open 24/7. I mean, come on!! If you've never had the peanut butter cup donut and you won't be sent into a sugar-induced coma, get it. They taste homemade which is my favorite part. Welp, I guess I know where I'm going when I'm in Kzoo visiting the Momses this weekend. The sugar zombie prevails.

Donuts do not get any better than this! Everything here is fantastic! I love the powered sugar donuts. Anything with maple icing is amazing as well! My parents love the German chocolate donuts and the coconut donuts. The cinnamon rolls are huge and very filling! If you go to Kalamazoo and want something sweet, you have to go here!

A dozen donuts for seven fifty. The flavors I got... Reese's, Snicker's, Purple People Eater, Black Forest, Blueberry Cheesecake (its crack), Orange Coconut (white coconut also available), French cruller, Buttermilk, Etc. Open 24 Hours.

I often am told by friends from out of town how lucky I am to live near sweetwater's. Needless to say, they are so right! For 7 bucks you can get a dozen reallygood donuts. They are wonderful, whether you prefer filled or unfilled, cake or yeast. My personal favorites are the strawberry cheesecake, the plain cake, and the sugar raised.

Great buttermilk donuts -- and I'm not sure, but I could almost swear the chocolate muffins are made by the Almighty himself. I don't know what they're putting in them, but they're moist and chewy and seriously better than any I've ever had before. The wrap-around bars with trash cans in the middle are a very convenient touch, too.

Best ever. The typical donuts (e.g., glazed, chocolate, etc.) are good, but their specialty donuts are uh-maz-ing. Oreo donuts taste like Oreos, cheesecake taste like cheesecake, and so forth. Worth a detour, a trip, or a drunken visit. Epically awesome.

They have the best donuts anywhere and they are open 24 hours. I highly recommend the New York cheesecake donut.
