I had a great evening here last night! While passing through Kalamazoo, I scanned Yelp! for a decent place for dinner that wasn't too far from my hotel. It was only 10 minutes but I'd drive 30 to go back. The calzone I had was delicious! Made to order and piping hot all the way through, I was very pleased. The Mini was plenty for me. If I lived nearby, I'd have been happy with the regular size which would leave a whole other meal to go. They have a full bar too with a great mix of local brews as well as some of the classics. The owner, Matt, genuinely appreciates his customers. As a retired Marine, he obviously knows hard work and will be sure you have a great experience, whether you're eating in the dining room, sitting at the bar or grabbing an order to take home. Buy local and support this great pizza place. I look forward to my next trip so I can try some of the other things on the menu. There is a lot to choose from and it all looks delicious!!

Food was awesome!!!! I was in Kalamazoo on business. Got take out. Small place but food was outstanding. Italian sandwich was ridiculously good. Unfortunately I could only eat half because it was enormous and I also got the excellent Maestros bread. Would definitely recommend this hidden gem.

Let me start by saying I really wish I could give half stars because I think 3 stars makes this place seem worse than it really was. I'm a pizza fanatic, but not a pizza snob, so as long as there's cheese and quality ingredients I'm happy. I ordered a pizza with their house made sausage...which is the bomb! The only "complaint" I have is that it seemed to lack salt (even with green olives on it), but it wasn't anything easily correctable (enter...salt shaker) and I'm kind of a salt addict. The toppings went right to the edge of the pizza (which I love) and the crust was delicious also. There cheese was good, but in addition to my salt addiction, I have a cheese addiction so I thought there should have been more. I'll try "extra cheese" next time. Now for the bad part. I ordered wings. I ordered the "half pound" and we got 5 wings that were really average size like you would find at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was kind of laughable! Now I would normally order spicy wings but I was accommodating others who don't like spicy food so I went with Parmesan garlic. They were basically inedible...and I'll eat anything! They boasted in the menu about "baked, not fried" which is how I make my wings, but you'll see from my picture that they didn't "bake" them nearly long enough. There was essentially no char on them so you're left with soft, spongy chicken skin! Again I eat anything so that alone wouldn't have bothered me, but in addition to that there was ZERO flavor. I literally could not taste garlic...or parmesan (and again...mucho salt needed). I put some hot sauce on them to try to help but to no avail. I hate to say this but I threw 3.5 of the 5 wings in the trash! I'm my opinion they should either seriously retool their wing recipe or just take them off the menu. In summary...I will be back for pizza. I will also warn all my friends to stay VERY far from their chicken wings!

Great food in a local atmosphere. We have ordered the pizza and cheese bread to go before and gave a try again. I ordered the Italian sandwich and my goodness it was amazing. My boyfriend ordered Alfredo chicken bacon pizza which he also was fond of. Definitely recommend if you want some local, high quality good food.

6070 S 12th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009 - This address is their new location. They were previously at 4824 W. Milham Ave. Portage, MI 49024. My wife and I stopped in here for sandwiches last night. I ordered the Baked Italian, and my wife ordered the Baked Pizza. When our sandwiches were ready, Matt (the owner) erupted from the back with our orders while singing the praises of his made-from-scratch sandwiches. The meatballs, sausage, sauces, and breads are all made in house. When the bartender noticed my wife trying to figure out how to cut her large sandwich in half with a butter knife, he called on Matt who immediately came around with a more appropriate knife to slice our sandwiches in half for us. Matt then invited us to come back and make a pizza with him in the kitchen the next time we visit. This place has an incredibly friendly staff, and the food lived up to the owner's hype. We are totally going back to try the pizza. I wish that every restaurant owner were as a passionate about their product as Matt! Pros: I have to give it five stars because of the incredible owner and staff. We had a truly wonderful experience and some marvelous sandwiches to boot. Cons:They have to make a small space work. I always order meatballs when they are made in house, but they had run out of meatballs last night :( .

I travel several times a month. When I am on the road, I try to find good local pizza. Rather than ordering from a chain, I choose to support local business while finding some hidden gems. This is one of those gems in the Midwest. you can tell the crust is homemade by its consistency, and there was not a hit of greasiness to it. The sauce, the sauce with some of the best I've ever had. Sweet but not too sweet, garlicky but not too garlicky. Then there was the cheese, which stretched and pulled after each bite. The pizza was wonderful. One of the things that really separated this place from many others was the owner. The older greeted every customer what came in the door, personally thanked every customer as they walked out the door, and was amazingly friendly and sociable. This is the kind of place that you can tell gets consistent repeat customers because of both the food and the friendliness. If you were in the area, I highly recommend the pizza from here.

I wanted to support a local business and found this place very close to me. Tried a large pepperoni, veggie and the Maestro bread. All delicious, large portions and tasty crust. Very well made. Nice local pizza business and very nice owners! Will definitely be ordering again!

Tried this place for the first time. I sampled the supreme and a three-meat pizza (pepperoni, sausage, and ham). Both were good. Sauce had a nice tang to it and the crust was solid. I would definitely recommend getting something with sausage though. The sausage used for the toppings is excellent. Get whatever else you want on your pizza but get that sausage and let it shine!

Fresh ingredients...great pizza. Takes a little time to have it ready, so make sure to place your order before if its for pickup.

Subpar pizza and aweful service. Pizza was mediocre and took a long time to cook. We got tired of waiting for our bill and so we went too the bar to get the check. The waitress said to us "oh I forgot you were there". She gave no apology for the delay or forgetting to ask if we needed anything, which we did. We will not go back.

Delicious, classic pizza. Their veggie pizza is my favorite which tastes great with the fresh garlic. My daughters love the classic cheese pizza and the tomato sauce tastes lovely. Above all, the owners are super friendly and make it easy to go back. I prefer buying this pizza over more well known brands and my friends have caught onto this restaurant as well.

Awesome pizza! Well worth multiple visits. Vert friendly staff. We got a veggie and they allowed us to swap some veggies with no problem. Try the roasted garlic.

We have been here twice now. The place is very cozy. The man who works as the cook (maybe an owner) was very pleasant and helpful to us the first time we were there. Their cheese bread was pretty good, and pizza so so compare to Martinis or Jaspares. The second time the lady behind the bar (maybe also an ower) did not acknowledge us for quite a while and we were 2 of 4 at the bar. When other's that she know walked in after we sat down, she greeted them by name and took them drinks. I understand the importance of taking care of regulars, but at the same time, don't alienate newcomers. As I have mentioned, I like to support local businesses, but without excellent customer service in this day, people have many other options to choose from. They won't survive long.

I was staying at a nearby hotel and placed a delivery order. Their homemade sausage is really good. It's not greasy and it has strong but good garlic undertones. I also got a side salad which was fresh and the ranch seems to be homemade. Good crust and just the right amount of sauce. The delivery guy was so nice, too! A really great representative for their restaurant.

I have been having pizza delivered to my house for years that taste like the cardboard they come in. I was ready for something different an called. This is the best pizza in the area fresh dough crust top notch toppings and 3 mins away. They beat any delivered pizza and have Pappa Murphy's beat for pick up and cook

We had been meaning to try this place ever since they started out in the Sunny Mart across the street. We finally decided to order takeout and boy were we pleased. This is some of the BEST pizza in Portage/Kalamazoo. Everyone always talks about Erbelli's, but give me Maestro's every day of the week and twice on Sundays. Their sauce and crust are what makes this pizza amazing. They are also not light on the toppings either. The homemade sausage is fantastic. The cheese bread and breadsticks are both amazing. The owners are super friendly and willing to help in any way if there is an issue with your order. If you want pizza and are thinking Erbelli's, do yourself and your wallet a favor and choose Maestro's. You won't be disappointed.
