Wow! Great BBQ place. Fridays they have a great Prime Rib sandwich, try it with the Big'un's BBQ Sauce. It's great. I'll be back.

Great food. A little pricey, but the portions of baby back ribs were generous. Mac N Cheese was a bit dry, but very cheesy. Backed beans were great. Good corn bread.

On point. Great BBQ with friendly staff. Love that they offer different portion sizes of most things. Collard Greens get extra mention. If in the lower, central portion of Michigan (Jackson) make sure to add this to your rotation.

First, let me tell you that I have been going to West Texas for the past 6 years monthly for lunch. West Texas used to be the best food at a great value. But now it seems that since people know about West Texas(best BBQ in Michigan). things have changed. The prices have went up and the portions have went down. It will cost you $12 for a small sandwich, very small side and a drink. I've been able to stomach the price increase and portion decrease until I visited today and they are now serving their top notch meats on top of a store bought bun. What a joke. The home made ciabatta they used to serve was the best and made you feel like the price was OK because the food product was so good. Now I feel like I could get this from a fast food joint. They lost a monthly customer today. I will probably only visit once a year now. Good news is that their meat is still delicious. I would say others are also noticing because the lines are nothing like they used to be. Too bad, they had a good thing going.

This place is great! The BBQ is top notch! The only problem: its a small space. But WHO CARES! The food is excellent! First time here but definitely not my last.

West Texas has earned their place as a great place to get bbq in an area not normally associated with great bbq. BUT, their recent decision to jack up prices and now NOT offer the wonderful fresh baked bread they used on their sandwiches is a real bummer. All that wonderful bbq on a cheap factory bun. If you want the fresh baked bread you now get a much smaller roll on the side when ordering a platter meal. Almost $15 for a pork sandwich, can of pop (no refills) and larger potato salad side (because the regular size is tiny as a salad dressing cup). Oh, yeah the sandwich was $1 off today so it would normally be $16. I can see going to a sit down place for that much. Hope we don't loose a good thing here, but I've seen it happen over and over. Now, WTBBQ is no longer a given when planning lunch, too bad as we order several times a year for work functions too.

Terrible pulled pork. Terrible Mac and cheese. Ok chili. Brisket was a C-. Tender but missing flavor.

Best BBQ I've ever had, hands down. I've had my fair share of BBQ run-ins in my day. From across America's heartland, to down south, to up in the Midwest, and without a doubt, west Texas is the best I've had. What really stole the show for me was the ribs. I'd give the ribs 10 stars (out of 5) if I could. Everyone has their own ideal rib, but these things hit a home run for me. They were tender, smokey, and meaty. The rub accented the meat without overpowering it, and maybe the best indicator of how great the ribs were, I sure as heck wasn't going to ruin them by eating them with sauce. The value of paying 20 bucks for all you can eat is another reason why I'd give west Texas 20 stars if I could. Being AYCE not only allows you to stuff your face with some downright amazing BBQ, but it also allows you to try all the different kinds of meats they offer, which are plentiful. The pulled pork and brisket were solid, not necessarily the best I've ever had (I've had some darn good brisket and pulled pork in my day), so that definitely shouldn't be held against WTB. If you like low and slow, smokey and delicious BBQ, you'd be a fool not to try WTB. If I lived closer, I'd probably be 500 lbs and they would need a cattle prod and a bobcat to get me out of the place.

Food here was fantastic! Definitely worth the trip. A bit pricey and the hours are only open for lunch during the week and 11 to 6 on Saturday. Beef brisket sandwich and side of macaroni and cheese was out of this world. If it weren't for the hours and price it would be 5 stars.

I have been going here for prime rib Friday for a long time. They have some of the best bbq that I have had in Michigan, that is for sure! It is worth the drive if you have the time! My winners would be the brisket , smoked turkey or prime rib sandwich. The prime rib is only available on Friday. I would pass on the riblet sandwich too much sauce.

We ran in today to grab a quick sandwich on the way to play golf. We didn't have a lot of time, which was fine because they whipped up a brisket sandwich in a flash. It was VERY good. I've had a lot of brisket in my day and this was as good as anything I've ever had. Including Texas brisket! Nice flavor. Ample portions I tried the Big Uns sauce which was a thin vinegary sauce that I have never had before. I liked the ciabatti (sp?) bun which held up nicely. My golfing partner had the turkey and he said it was tasty. Smoked turkey when you can have beef or pork? WHY???????? I can't wait for a another trip when I have a bit more time. It looked like the real deal!

They sampled the ribs! They were moist, smoky, and so tender you don't need teeth. That is serious bbq! I'm not usually a fan of brisket, but this was really good. We liked it so much we ate there then got ribs carryout since we live two hours away. I also got to-go for a friend at work who loves brisket. You order and pay at counter then they bring the food to the table. You can eat inside or out at picnic tables. Not real fancy, but has a real Texas vibe. Portions are generous. Only complaint is no beer to go with really great bbq. Wish I lived closer. Thanks Yelp for another winner.

This was the best BBQ I've had outside of Memphis, the pulled pork sandwich was great (Memphis style with slaw on top). It was extremely messy but so good. The only thing I did not like was the crusty ciabatta bun--a softer bread like Texas toast would have made it easier to eat. Dining is VERY casual, you end up sitting in the kitchen and watching them make the food. Overall, an A+!

Went to West Texas BBQ to see if it was as good as was written up on MLive's "Best Barbeque in Michigan" contest and I have to say it's damn good! I had a big platter with brisket and hot link sausage w/ baked beans. The brisket had a great crust and a huge smoke ring. Tender, cut with a fork meat that didn't need sauce. The hot link was a full flavored smoky sausage with not a ton of heat. More black pepper heat than hot pepper heat. The beans, although served cold, were excellent with chunks of pork mixed in. Served with a couple of rolls that were indistinct, I made little sandwiches with them. Others in my party had the pulled pork, the smoked turkey (which we all thought was really good and needed NO sauce, and the polish sausage. Also, had was the mac and cheese which was a home-style baked mac that was ok from what I was told. The three sauces served were very good. The big 'uns (carolina vinegar-style), the mild (sweet to me), and the hot (again not blazingly hot by any means but a very good balance of sweet and spicy).Total of $13 bucks for 10 oz. of meat, two rolls and butter, onions, pickles, and jalapenos, a side of beans, and I got a bottle of water. A pretty good deal if you ask me. Seating is in front of the counter for smaller tables and towards the back of the building there are long picnic type tables as well as a long table with regular chairs. A bit spartan and you sit with their backstock right next to you but I liked it other than being a bit drafty on a cool day. Older country music plays overhead and was not intrusive to our conversation. I was impressed with the food they are serving here and will definitely be back!!

This place has--hands down--the BEST BBQ RIBS. They were fantastic, lean, meaty, perfectly seasoned with a vinegar based BBQ sauce. Perfect just perfect. Cannot wait to try some of their other menu items. We will be back!

I love BBQ! And I've tried it everywhere from nationally famous places like Corky's and Charles Vargas Rendezvous in Tennessee to Famous Dave's chain BBQ! And I've got to say that West Texas tops them all! I'm all about the Brisket! It's super lean and has great flavor! They have awesome Texas Style (no beans) Chili as well! You need to try it! I would say their prices are reasonable for the portion size and quality of the food. So good! One of my favorite places in town! Long live West Texas!

Best BBQ outside of Detroit. The pulled pork is stellar. I've ordered it several dozen times and only once was I disappointed, due mainly to a shotty meat cutter to served up big chunk of fat cap on my sandwich. Their rub is sweet salty, the smoke with oak which allows just the right about of mild smoke without overpowering. I myself prefer nut and fruit woods mixed with hickory but these guys handle oak perfectly. Their house made vinegar sauce is the best I've ever tasted. The brisket and sausages are also excellent. I have no preference for baby back ribs, I wish like hell they served spares, but I can't always win. The turkey is my least favorite meal there. The rub is too salty for the turkey and the turkey always pulls in too much smoke.

How this place hasn't been previously discovered by Yelpers, I'll never know. Mouth Watering. The Turkey is by far the best I've ever tasted. Banana pudding, out of this world. Baked Beans... Yummy! Brisket... Just perfect, and the Bug Uns BBQ sauce is incredible. This is a must eat place in Jackson. Slim hours... Tuesday-Friday 11am-2pm and Saturday 11am-6pm.

This was my first time here. Ordered the brisket sandwich with hot bbq sauce & homemade mac & cheese. Delicious. I'm actually not a big brisket guy so I can't wait to go back to try the ribs & pulled pork.

I took my brother in law for his birthday Saturday morning for lunch. I'm from frankenmuth and we came almost two hours to try Michigander best bbq. It was the best food I ever had in my life. We got a giant platter of meat and sides to try it all. The meat just falls apart and the taste is something out of concept. Mac and cheese was so good and chili was a true texas chili. Justin gave us the tour and background and made us feel like we were at home. His service is perfect. You can tell he caters well since every detail was remembered to make take home leftovers just like when we were there. I can't say enough good about this place. Everything was outstanding and I will travel back as often as possible. I won't waste my time going to these production, so called bbq. It ruined me. I can't go to those places anymore. It's just a tease for the best anywhere. Which is west texas bbq !!! Thanks again Justin for the best lunch we ever ate! We will be back.
