From the road this place is set back with a dirt parking lot. Does not look real inviting but I found it on Yelp and the reviews stated that the hamburgers were really good. When you walk up the ramp to the patio, there was plenty of outside seating and everyone was having a good time. We chose to eat in the air-conditioning because we were outside quite a bit already and the inside was not as busy. My family, I was with (regulars), said the hamburgers were good and The Roast Beef sandwich was one of their favorites too. On the wall, they had a chalkboard with daily food specials. Everything sounded wonderful. My family decided to order The Mighty Oak burger that was talked about in the previous reviews and I decided on the The Mighty Mike burger that came with a special sauce on the side and green olives and blue cheese crumbles on the hamburger. The hamburgers came with a choice of either fries, cole slaw, homemade tavern chips, the daily picnic salad or cottage cheese. Wow, healthy options but I was on vacation so I got the homemade tavern chips. Homemade potato chips, made there daily. Even though we were in a full service bar, I got a Pepsi. And impressive, it came in a Pepsi cup. The hamburger was good but I really could not taste the blue cheese and for me, there was not enough olives. The bun was good, not a traditional bun, plus it was toasted on the inside, giving the edges an additional crunch and flavor. The tavern chips were good and crispy, but the special sauce, I could do without, not to special. Our waitress was Renee and she was really nice, friendly and made sure our table was well taken care of. Fun place, good food and I would come again.

Fantastic burger! Just a couple blocks from downtown on a largely residential street - don't think you're lost! A couple surprising things on the menu and several specials including Truffle fries, 4+ kinds of soup, salads looked great, and some veg and gluten free options. Rustic, paneled - basically neighborhood bar - service is friendly and attentive :-) If you are looking for quality food, don't hesitate!

Nice lil bar in a residential area. My first thought, WTF, then once I saw this place, pleasantly surprised. Burger was really good and handmade chips were yummy. Had to sit inside because it was raining. Inside is small but quaint. I will come back to sit on patio and have some drinks! Cheers P/s: Big ass burger! Come hungry!

This little bar is worthy of Guy Fieri's attention. A little gourmet restaurant in a cramped space in an iffy neighborhood. Sandwiches are excellent and the soup is the best. My favorite is the Voodoo chicken sandwich and my wife says the burgers are right up there with Jackson's best. Did I say the soup was the best? Even if you order a burger, you have to try their homemade soup, and they will gladly let you try all of them before you buy, so I won't recommend one (they're all good). We waited to be served as they appeared to be busier than usual, but once we got rolling, the service was very good and super friendly.

Don't bother!! Sat there waiting for over 30 minutes and was provided a water. Didn't even get to order. Tried to flag someone but all too busy in their phones or talking to each other or other guests to bother.

Very good food. It's located off the beaten path in the middle of a residential area so if you're not familiar with Jackson you might never even know it's there. Prices are reasonable and they have a very creative menu for a bar. Definitely worth a stop.

Fantastic little-known spot in Jackson off the beaten path. Busy enough to be popular, but not too busy to not get a seat. The burgers are great. Much better than your typical bar burger.

Super delish! Love the burgers. So fresh and yummy. The bread is freshly made Three of us had burgers and the 4th had voo doo chicken. All of us were raving The friend pickles were awesome. Clearly they were fresh. We loved them. We were heading through town on the way to Detroit. It was well worth the short drive off of 94. Small, hole-In-the-wall, friendly and casual. We would definitely go back! Oh - really impressed with their gluten free options, which include bread and chicken tenders! Thumbs up!

First off its small, that's what she said. Hole in the wall, but outside deck area helps. The food and beer is the reason to make this a regular hangout. Burgers are amazing and the soup is killer. Beer is super cheap and tasty. Don't miss out on this place, you'll regret it.

Rough on outside, rough on inside. Very good food and $1 beer. This is a excellent restaraunt for dinners on a budget.

Hit it or Quit it: Hit it. Hit it hit it like you can't miss. Quickdraw: A gem of a joint buried in the grime of Jackson. Go for the food, stay for the hospitality. Full review: I have eaten here several times, I always get the same thing - truffle fries with extra dumbo sauce and a mighty vegetarian burger with chips. Reneé was my waitress twice and she is an absolute doll. Very warm. Everyone else is super nice too. You drive up to the place and are floored that there is a house, that is actually a restaurant, on the edge of an industrial zone. So you don't know what the heck is going on and you wonder if you're being led to a meeting with undesirables. Fear not! Carry on! The place itself is a cute lived in looking cottage with haphazard add-ons such as a quaint patio. When you step in you seat yourself in a small bar with a dining area that probably holds 30 people at the most. It's very cozy, not cramped. You will be quickly attended to by one of two nice waitresses. The menu is large and boastful...you wonder if they can deliver. They can. Get the truffle fries and hand them your cash...you really can just stop here...they are amazing. A party in your mouth. Crack. The rest of the food is amazing, probably partially because your expectations (if you didn't read any of the glowing Yelp reviews) are so low...but mostly because the food actually is amazing. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and they are flexible (I've ordered stuff not on the menu, and as long as they aren't slammed they are happy to accommodate). Come here, and come here often. Tell them Rizvi sent ya...nothing will happen, but you and I will both feel very gangster.

Heard some good things about this local place. Had a chance to check it for lunch today. Small hole in wall with a great sandwiches and nice homemade potato chips. I'll be back to try it again soon.

Try the wings, both buffalo and Asian sauce are yummy! Great hole in the wall, with a very nice new patio and a super friendly staff. Whenever I am in town, I always stop by!

Great service, great food, nice selection of beer on tap, very affordable. A gem. I would go here any night of the week. Great place to go if you're an out-of-towner. Get a great taste of jackson. It has a sense of community and you can tell the food is high-quality, very delicious!

Driving from Wisconsin to Detroit, and we did a yelp search. This gem came up. The reviews have it all right; cheap beer, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere. A little note to those passing through, the outside menu is different than the inside menu. We had the outside menu and the asparagus was delicious. Additionally, we can also attest the soups are a must try. I personally highly recommend that if you are in need of a beer break with great food, this is the destination in Jackson.

The Oak Tree is truly a diamond in the rough. Kind of a hole in the wall place that seats maybe 50 or so, however, they have some of the best food in Jackson. Every day, they offer a variety of home made soups. And I'm not talking about one or two, its like six, and they're all very unique (i.e. Reuben chowder). I haven't had one that wasn't excellent. The Upper Deck and Lower Deck sandwiches are amazing club sandwiches (only order the upper deck if you brought your hungry-man appetite). Voodoo chicken is another winner. The burgers are amazing as well - again, bring your appetite, cuz their huge! The Cajun burger is my fave, but its only offered as a special so keep your eyes peeled for this on the chalk board. I would categorize the Oak Tree as gourmet bar food with a home made twist that will knock your socks off. The staff is super friendly and always ready to give you a candid and honest suggestion.

This place is one of Jackson's best kept secrets. We discovered it when we visited someone in the neighborhood. For something a little different, served quickly, and delicious you can't beat it. Cozy. Nice place to take a date or to just stop in and have a drink. Beautiful waitresses doesn't hurt, either

Incredible food! $1 pints of beer, soups that are out of this world. You're nuts not to try this hidden neighborhood gem.

The food at this place is awesome. It's a hidden gem in the middle of a residential neighborhood but trust me it's worth the hunt to find it. Because of its location it is mainly a local hangout. Their prices are very cheap and the food is some of the best casual dining you'll find in the area. Great lunch spot and they also have a full bar with reasonable prices on drinks. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the Jackson area.

i don't wanna rag on jackson too much, but lets just say its not know for its culinary prowess. now there is nothing extravagant about the oak tree at all, but damn they make a good bowl of soup! there are always a few different varieties to choose from but my favorite has always been the beef barley. the jamaican jerk chicken and the chicken salad sammiches are also good choices. the interior is small but feels cozy. nothing fancy, but a great place to have a few beers and a really solid meal.
