Noisy, crowded casual bar restaurant with a summer boathouse theme. Menu had some interesting items. Service slow, but I made allowances for the summer weekend evening crowd -- at first. It became apparent that both waitress and kitchen were disorganized. I ordered the daily special blackened fish with sweet potato fries. My companion ordered beef tips with mashed potatoes. It took over 25 min. from ordering until dinner appeared. It looked delicious. I should have been content to just look. My fish, only slightly overcooked, was saltier than movie popcorn. I could barely eat it. I expect blackened coating to be quite peppery, not incredibly salty. The waitress offered to figure out another dinner for me, but we had an appointment later and I couldn't wait another half hour for a different dish. I scraped off as much coating as I could and ate the middle of the fillet since I was starving by then. There was no lemon wedge with fish, just tartar sauce which I dislike but used anyway to tone down the salty coating. The fries tasted good; too bad they were only room temperature and limp. They must have been cooked way ahead, not to order. There was also a weird sauce for them on the side. It seemed to be marshmallow ice cream topping with a lot of nutmeg stirred in. It would have been yummy on a fruit salad. My companion had ordered medium rare beef tips but received well done. There was so much canned gravy and onion that you couldn't taste the meat anyway. Any garlic flavor of mashed potatoes was obliterated by the commercial gravy taste. At least his food was hot. Conclusion - they cooked my dinner first, then it sat on a shelf while they overcooked his. A kitchen in such a restaurant should be able to juggle the correct cooking sequence of a dozen different meals at once. Just to round out the evening, after we asked for the check our waitress, who had come by about every 5 minutes until then, disappeared for 15 minutes. We were running very late for our appointment and had to go to the bar to ask the bartender to track her down. I might go on a different day for lunch to see if it's any better. Or I might just plan to be in a different town for lunch when I'm headed that direction.

Stroh's in bottles. Fish tacos were great, little perch fillets stacked up. Good size place probably seats 100 or more. I guess they're known for the fish, but our waitress wasn't a fan of fish, so she wasn't equipped to make a recommendation.

We eat here several times a month and love the food, waitresses and Chad cooks up my steak just the way I like it! Love the mixed drinks and atmosphere! If you ever stop in make sure to try the seafood chowder...it's delicious!!!

Good food and service was our experience when we stopped for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. The menu selection was good, the typical stuff was there, but so were things you wouldn't expect. Overall thought it was very good and we'd definitely go back.

This is one of my favorite casual, inexpensive, local restaurants. In summer, we head for the outdoor patio out back. In winter, the decor helps us pretend we're still in Florida. Always busy with a friendly vibe, but we've never had to wait more than a minute or two to find a table. Soups are consistently good. Hubby likes the wet burrito or fish fry; I like the the roast beef dinner or one of the dinner salads (taco or BLT, usually). Lots of other choices on the menu, but once you find something you like, it's easy to get in a rut, you know?

Great atmosphere and place to be with friends. Food is usually pretty good although can be hit or miss but definitely worth a trip to try the food. Plus all of their specials are great.

Stopping in this local bar, I was surprised to see so many people inside. The place looks super small on the outside but there is a ton of seating and activity on the inside. If you are looking for a beachy-themed bar, look no further than this local spot. Visiting from VA, I have been to my share of small, local bars but this place was really nice. It does get noisy and crowded the further into the night you go as it is one of the few bars in this small town, but it really does have some great food. I enjoyed a chicken wrap and waffle fries and was full and satisified with each bite. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly. My boyfriend - who is from the area- had some of the best fish tacos I have ever had. Great local beers on tap as well as some of the classic brews you would find in any beer-serving establishment.

Bone Island is a bar-restaurant that serves all meals. The service is average at best. The ambience is nice, kind of kitschy decorated so that's cool. But the food is nothing spectacular. Just your average fried & grilled food, most bought probably at Gortons, GFS, or Sams Club. The burgers are just average, not very good seasoning, shrimp is just your basic deep fried out of the bx stuff. Oh & every time I've had breakfast here, I remember why I don't, it's not good at all , Just an average place

Reasonable prices, clean bathrooms, good tea and lemonade, good food...had the fajita wrap - would have been better if the tortilla itself was hot pressed at the end...waffle fries were good but not as good as Chick-Fil-A's

Nice place for locals to grab some grub and cheap drinks. The service can be slow and when at the bar sometimes the staff won't even make eye contact or acknowledge you're there. It is generally quiet so you can carry on a conversation with the people at your table.

I live within a mile of this place, and stopped in for the first time last night. When the waitress took drink orders, I also ordered the hot shrimp and crab dip as an appetizer to share. Our dinner orders were taken shortly after that, and in just a few minutes out comes a dinner salad. No sign of the appetizer - she remembered it as she delivered the salad. I was ready to cancel it, but she ran off and put it in the computer. Now I have an entree order in before the appetizer order, you can guess the rest. Appetizer comes out, and the entrees sit. By the time they are delivered, they are lukewarm. As for the food itself, the hot shrimp and crab dip comes with french bread that appears to be a bake and serve brand that was not finished. Cold french bread with no crust and no browning - ick. When I suggested to the server it would be better with warm bread, she said 'We always serve it like that'. Ok - so you always serve a disappointing appetizer. So be it. The fish and chips would have been OK had they arrived hot, and had the right side orders on the right plates. Overall, a sad experience. The bottom line - it is a local place that will get business regardless of the poor service or mediocre food.

Went for lunch and tried the steak sandwich special, normally don't try different foods. The steak tasted like plain hamburger, very bland. Should have stuck with my regular-seafood chowder. Still the a great bar and nice facilities

Good food and service. The owner is very involved in the community with helping families in need and charities seeking support for their fundraising events. We eat hear once a week. Very fair prices good selection of beers on tap.

Good food! Not too shabby of a place with a beach and ocean kinda theme. Good burgers, fish tacos, and many great sandwiches! Good band nights and nice porch seating in the back during spring and summer!

The best bang for your buck restaurant in the Jackson area hands down. This place is not upscale so if that is what you are looking for then the 5 stars does not apply. I've ate here more times than I can count. It is an old neighborhood bar that was connected to an old style diner. It was transformed into a Florida/Caribbean themed restaurant/bar and the two areas are connected with a main bar area with several tables there and then a main dining room to the left of it. Their menu has a Flordia style theme too. They have a great beer selection and their prices are extremely reasonable. I love their crab/cheese dip with bread. It's very basic and delicious which is what most of their menu is. This place doesn't over complicate things and is quite laid back which is something I like when I'm undwinding after work. At night it is pretty much the main bar to hangout at in Vandercook Lake and it has live entertainment some nights. It's worth checking out for a casual dining or bar experience.
