My husband and I visited Old Port on a Sunday morning at 10:40 for breakfast. After waiting for our order of french toast and a meat lovers omelet for 35 minutes, I had to track down our server to ask her if she knew when our order would be up. Instead of apologizing for the extreme delay and offering to check on our food, she rudely told us they were busy and she didn't know when our food would arrive. After her horrible attitude with no offer to amend the situation, we chose not to wait any longer and leave. We went a 1 minute drive down the street to Nick's County Oven, ordered the same thing, and received our breakfast within 10 minutes from a friendly server. We will not be visiting Old Port again.

I always love the food here. Have come here for years. My fave dish is the spinach pie with rice. You get a salad and soup. The coffee is always good too. The service has always been great. I will always go back.

I miss the old management but the pancakes are always good! Greeks do it better! Maybe they'll bring him back!

So cute and very affordable! My breakfast was the usual go-to eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, & toast! MMMMMM! Located in downtown Clawson area.

I am not a geezer-Janelle W. I am 27. I go to Old Port for one thing and one thing only-BREAKFAST. The Ham, Bacon, Sausage all have distinctive flavors. Unlike other places where its all bland meat. The service is great-Linda is the best. Always makes sure the Coffee is full and fresh. With a lot of "Family" restaurants serving up breakfast in the area-Old Port is the best. It offers value, flavor and consistency.

Classic place with classic choices. Fries were hot and crispy. Club sandwich was tasty. Nice waitress...exactly what we needed.

Great breakfast food. Very friendly people! I'm so glad that they went smoke free! When we lived down the street from Old Port, we were able to eat out for breakfast a couple times a month. Jimmy would greet us and the waitresses often remembered our "usual" orders. We also tried a few of the lunch/dinner items, but didn't care for them very much. Their Old Port Inn Special offers a huge amount and variety of breakfast foods. The steak and eggs, pancakes, and French toast are fabulous too!

I was disappointed with my trip to the Old Port. I sat down and immediately thought....can I get up and leave?! I read the reviews, but after my meal I am certain the good reviews DO NOT include their dinner menu! There was such a random array of food that I didn't know what to get. The ambiance is rather awkward as well- quite a lot of elderly clients and no music or background noise making it feel like a library where you may get scolded if you spoke too loudly! I wouldn't describe the service as friendly, but will say it was efficient. While I wasn't expecting a gourmet meal, I was expecting more of the classic diner experience. Perhaps it is a different place in the light of day but I will not be back to verify.

I read some reviews and decided to try this place. I was not disappointed. I had the strawberry pancakes and they were great. My wife had the eggs benedict and was thoroughly pleased. I will definitely be back!

Great breakfasts, salads, soups and more, elderly, families and in between. Staff very friendly and efficient. If you want loud, obnoxious and swearing every other word this place isn't for you.

Old Port Inn has been a long standing family restaurant in Clawson. I have lived in the area for many years. As with many small family restaurants it is nice to go in and know the waitresses. One outstanding waitress is Denise. Always on the ball and definitely great service. The food is standard family restaurant. Breakfast is usually very good as well as their soups. I understand they have new owners and are trying to add to their menu with some new items and have done some upgrades. One of their new items is the turkey avocado sandwich, which when made correctly, is actually delicious. It is served on a ciabatta roll with lettuce, tomato, turkey, red onion, avocados, and garlic mayo. Twice now in the past two weeks this sandwich has been served with brown mushy avocados. Today it was once again served with brown mushy avocados and white onion. When I went to pay the bill I spoke with the manager who told me "its not their fault it's the produce person who sells them the avocado." Really? Why would you even consider purchasing mushy avocados let alone serving it to your customer. Service was also terrible today (unfortunately Denise was not working today). If Old Port Inn wants to keep their customers and gain new ones a change in attitude is a must and better quality control on the food that is sent out from the kitchen, and management needs to step up to the plate and stop placing the blame on someone else.

I ordered the smelt because I love smelt and order each time I see it on a menu wherever I am. This was by far the absolute worst smelt ever....ever! We were guests of a friend so I didn't want to say anything to the waitress about how terrible the fish were. They were tiny and they had so much breading on them that I couldn't see the fish or taste it. The smelt were very hard and that was because of the heavy breading and being overcooked. The fish and the french fries were cold. My iced tea glass sat empty because our waitress disappeared half way through the meal and the other waitress couldn't tell us where our waitress had gone....half way through the meal! My husband's Greek salad would've been good but it was made with iceberg lettuce which we don't eat plus the waitress brought the wrong dressing. Our friend had prime rib and it was brought to the table way undercooked and it came with mixed vegetables that looked like frozen veggies. Our family has been coming to OPI for almost 40 years. What has happened to this place? I won't go back.....there are so many other really good restaurants in the area.

8-18-15..... That was the worst meal that I have had at old port inn since the ownership changed I ordered the roast turkey dinner which I have been ordering for 20 years or more and the turkey has changed into something from the deli .....process turkey.... the bake potato was lukewarm at most but was burnt on the skin.... Green beans were fine... Won't be back anytime soon..

I spent 3 days a week for two years straight going here, I still talk about it even though I am 1500 miles away. This place is a secret, this is truly old school Clawson/ RO/ Troy. Food is great, staff is surly and wonderful at the same time, the place is cheaper that cooking at home. If you live in Clawson, you need to stop in here.

So many times we have driven by and have seen a ton of cars in the parking lot. When my husband and I happened to be out and about this past Sunday, we thought we'd give it a try. Bleh, I'm telling you right now, don't bother. All those cars in the parking lot? They belong to all the elderly residents of Clawson. I thought my husband was going to kill me after we sat down and looked over to see an older kyphotic gentleman slumped over and gumming his pancakes. The decor is dated and the menu is limited. The "specials" on the board? Just regular menu items at regular prices. There are so many better diners in the area.
