Designer Cookies By the Crate

I recently ordered 2 dozen "sunflower" cookies for my daughter's first birthday and couldnt be more happy with Designer Cookies by the Crate! The cookies are not only beautiful, they are delicious! The icing on the cookies was so perfect, they almost didnt look real! The sales person was professional and polite on the phone. The cookies added such a special touch to the party, I will definitely order more for all my other events. The total came to $66, which makes each cookie about $2.75 - a little pricey but they are beautiful, delicious, and huge - well worth it!
Absolutely love the cookies created for us. We stopped in by chance the first time and ordered custom cookies for a party. I was floored to see how they recreated my custom design. We ordered more cookies for a wedding and again we were delighted with the craftsmanship as well as the taste. People were actually fighting over the cookies! So delighted to recommend you to our friends.
I bought these cookies for my Aunt and Grandparents, to show that I did appreciate their help when I was sick and needed help taking care of household chores while my hubby was at work. I liked the fact that you could personalize each cookie to that persons personality, my aunt was stern but sassy my grandmother was like most grandmothers willing to take over, strict but sweet my grandfather is the sweetest man you'll ever meet, he'd give you the clothes off his back if you needed them. Anywho this was me showing my appreciation, I've done things in the past for them but they seemed genuinely won over by the cookies. It seems it's allways the simplest things... Who knew

El Guanaco Taqueria

Reviews:
I've been a fan of the El Guanaco in Troy for some time now, but I thought that this location was strictly for their baked goods. Happy to see that I was wrong and I can now further embed myself into my Clawson bubble. Drive past Del Taco and Taco Bell and come here for authentic, legit street tacos. (Seriously, I had to go to Del Taco on Sunday because El Guanaco was already closed and the tacos were half the size with half the fillings for the same price). They're messy, the meat will fall out if you're not careful, but they are DELICIOUS.
Same great (Salvadoran, Mexican & Cuban) foods as their primary location on Livernois; EXCEPT: - Nothing with yucca - Nothing with plantains - No soups This is primarily a carry-out operation. Tiny. Only three 2-top tables ... in a space that can only fit two 2-top tables.
First time in, this is a great little place. I had the Cubana combo for lunch today. For 6.99 you get a huge sandwich, beans & rice and a can of pop. The sandwich is big enough to split with another person - nice take on the Cuban sandwich, pretty classic but with added jalapenos. The beans and rice though, wow. I would kill for that recipe. I'm looking forward to trying more of their food!

Noble Fish

Reviews:
Great solid sushi joint. I particularly enjoy the spicy salmon.
My first and only experience thus far with Noble sushi was ordering to go. We called in an order on a Sunday night and were informed that it'd take 40 minutes. I like that the menu can be easily found online and is straight forward, not a lot of fancy rolls, etc. We got several hand rolls, nigiri, and the Noble roll. Favorites were yellowtail and toro. The sweet shrimp nigiri actually consisted of three small shrimps instead of one whole one. That's the first time I've seen amaebi like that. Taste wise, it was okay. We weren't overwhelmed by the flavor or quality. There was actually something that didn't settle well with our stomachs. I think it was the uni so sadly we wound up throwing it out. We also got seaweed salad and a sashimi plate from the cooler. Seaweed salad didn't taste fresh but the sashimi was solid. I think Noble is definitely worth checking out; however, if we'd waited 30+ minutes for a table to eat the quality of sushi we received in our order, I would've been extremely disappointed. I'd definitely come back to check out all their offerings, take out only unless there was no wait for a table. Perhaps we just went on an off day. The market portion is brightly light, clean, and well organized. It reminds me of almost of a Mitsuwa shrunken down to just a handful of aisles. The cooler is packed with chunks of raw fish and a sign said that they can be cut up into slices for you. We came around 6:40 p.m. on a Sunday to pick up our to go order and the place was still quite busy. I can only imagine how packed it can feel during peak hours. Lastly, for to go orders, you pay at the grocery cash register. Receipt doesn't print out a line for tip so bring cash if you want to tip for take out. There's a small parking lot to the right of the building and also some parallel spots out in front of it.
Coming from southern California where there is a sushi joint on every corner, Noble Fish was an eye opening experience! The rolls were so good and at an amazing price. I'm used to paying twice as much for rolls half the size. The rolls are fresh tasting with clean flavors. No overwhelming sauces to mask the fish. I loved it!

Jimmy John’s

Reviews:
There's 2 things you should know about me before reading my review. I absolutely hate leaving the house to pick up food (Yes, I'm kinda lazy) and I love subs/sandwiches. Now on to the review. First off, they really are freaky fast. I'm always amazed at how quickly they make the sandwiches. Usually the sandwich is done by the time I walk to the pick up spot. And when I get delivery (which is what I almost always do) it always gets to my house within 10-15 mins of me ordering. Everything always tastes fresh and they always get my order right. My one complaint is that they don't allow you to get Large Pops delivered. I used to do delivery for a different sub shop and it's not any harder to deliver a large then it is to deliver a regular.
As per my previous review, I'm already a fan of THIS location (yes, certain locations are better than others, I'll get around to griping in another review), but this was the first time I've ordered delivery from the 14/Crooks location. I came home after a mega-roadtrip today and simply didn't feel like getting back in the car to get dinner. So I called up Jimmy Johns. Order-time to delivery-time was twelve minutes, faster than if I'd clambered into my car and gone to order/pick up myself, even as close as I live to the shop. Delivery guy was nice as you can ask for, and my #2 was perfect. Having to tip was well worth the speed and convenience, and I won't hesitate to do it again. 14/Crooks Jimmy Johns ROCKS!
Jimmy Johns is the only "fast" sub shop I go to. Most of the locations are pretty much equally good, but I frequent this one because it's close to my house. They do delivery too, and I'm within the delivery zone. It's perfect for those mornings when I really need a sub, and would rather not drive anywhere. For those of you not familiar with Jimmy Johns, they are a place that serve subs that are of much higher quality than their competition. You know who i'm talking about. The subs only come in one length, but it's the perfect size. The french bread that the sandwiches come with by default is absolutely amazing, but you can get them with some sort of sliced multigrain bread as well. Nobody does that though. Because the french bread is awesome. The speed of service here is always pretty good. Sometimes they are done making my sandwich by the time I finish paying. I find it funny that they say "Sorry about the wait!" every time they hand me my sandwich. Yes I know you make sandwiches very fast, thanks.

Zorbas Family Dining

Reviews:
I live fairly close to Zorba's. When I moved to Royal Oak in 1983.. Zorba's was still a Hardee's. I am sure many more folks remember that as well. With that being said, our family has been customers of Zorba's since they opened. For us it has been mostly a great place to get breakfast, however, we have had many lunches there as well. Their bean soup is just fantastic. It has loads of flavor, ham, beans with veggies and it is thick. I have had bean soup in other restaurants that their bean soup was totally anemic!! They also have a wonderful chicken pita sandwich, with a yummy marinade the chicken was in before it was grilled. The sandwich is generously loaded with chicken all breast, I don't ever remember getting a chicken pita that wasn't hot, with lots of grilled chicken and an excellent flavor to the chicken. For breakfast, I love their Greek Omelet. If you haven't had an omelet with Gyro meat, and you like Gyro meat.. get their omelet. Also, I love their blueberry pancakes! A favorite breakfast food of mine. My husband loves their crepes! At Zorba's the men cooking, speak to you and are friendly and kind. We got to know some of the waitresses there and they are top notch. This is family dining, in a building that was transformed from a Hardee's. It is not fast food though, their food quality, friendly service and prices, make it a solid 4 Star restaurant in the world of family dining. We also love the drive thru window that is SOO convenient for those lay back weekend mornings where you just feel like bringing breakfast or lunch home to eat! You don't even have to get out of the car to pick up your carry out order! Zorba's thank you for great food at very good prices! Hope you are around for a long time. I will be needing my Greek Omelet, Blueberry Pancakes or Chicken Sandwich on a regular basis.
I was a big fan of their Clinton Twp., Michigan location - But that has changed hands. The owner, Alex, suggested I visit this location. I knew his lovely and smart wife, Gina (sp), was running the Clawson location. So the following week, off I went to visit. AGAIN... Great food, great prices and fast service as usual.... And lucky me, I was served by that great hostess - Gina :-) Anyway, need I say it again? Great place to eat, fast and friendly service - My favorite -their Fish and Chip dinner - Yummy. Hey, even the water taste better than the Clinton Twp. location :-)
Quiet atmosphere, good food, good prices, friendly staff, even has wifi. Wasn't a fan of the coffee though.

Julian Brothers

Reviews:
Well I've been a patron of Julian Bros for a solid 6 years now and it's just as good as ever. If you want to have a fat kid day and go on a sugar binge, this place will satisfy your needs. Huge variety of donuts, desserts and pretty much anything you could want. Their cherry fritters? On point. And huge. But that didn't stop me from washing it down with 2 cookies.... What can I say? I have a mad love affair with sugar sometimes....
In my hunt for more and more and more carbs - because beer and pizza isn't enough, I come here. Walking through the door gives off a Frankenmuth feel. A bit of home and 70's/80's all rolled up in one. One step in and it becomes almost psychedelic as your eyes are bouncing all over the place - fresh made breads of all types, cut to order, are in shelves behind the counter. Homemade King Dongs, Bumpy cake, cheesecake, cookies, bear claws, and many many other great deserts are on display and a big menu of sandwiches, pizzas, and misc. Walking in deeper and turning right will take you to the sandwich, pizza, side salads and other foods (Meatloaf) are now on display. It's hard not to walk out with a little of everything and I often do. The homemade King Dongs, thin slices 7 grain bread, and meatloaf are a bad vice that I have to have when I come here. The staff are very friendly and I just haven't had anything I wouldn't buy again from this place.
This is an excellent bakery which also has hot and cold lunch selections I really miss the pizza bread living in indianapolis . Now my friends have me deliver loafs when I am up in Detroit metro area for work Just brought 8 loafs home this week. Cookies, donuts, bread, salad and sandwiches. Cakes too. Stop here for something good and you will be back. Been going here for at least 15 years

Absolutely love this place! A true charm to clawson. I always love coming here. For breakfast I always get the layered breakfast bowl or eggs Benedict. Both are phenomenal. For lunch, I like to get the turkey melt and a cup of the cabbage soup if they have it on their special. It's truly amazing, like no cabbage soup I've ever had. I bring my friends in all the time and we've had several different waitresses, and have never been disappointed. Living around the corner in troy, this place is perfect for me to come during lunch or breakfast before I get my day started!
Found this nearby on yelp and decided to try it. Glad we did. Service was prompt, food was yummy. I'm usually a healthy eater and was in the mood for breakfast food. The hash browns with green peppers and onions is perfect. Fairly priced, used the 10% off from yelp.
Met a friend for breakfast on a very busy Sunday (good sign). About a 20 minute wait for a table. Food takes a very long time to come out - extremely small cooking area. Service was very pleasant, food was good but coffee was scented water. We will try it again. And order juice instead.

Been coming here for over 30 years and it's the closest to Tonys pasties in Laurium in copper country.
Cool little shack with just a tiny space to step in and order a pasty. These are like the offspring of a calzone and a pot pie or conversely, the granddaddy of a hot pocket, lol They're about a pound each so if you're just wanting to grab one for a meal you probably only are gonna wanna eat one. They come with gravy for an extra seventy cents and really are essential as they can be a touch dry otherwise I got a chicken and a beef hot (5.82 each but there's a coupon that saves you forty cents a pasty If you look around in the Detroit paper for it) and got one of each frozen for another time They tasted great. I'd return. Notes to add: contrary to prior reviews they DO take credit cards now. There's a vegetable pasty for you non meat eaters which is a dollar less
Love this place! They have THE best pizza and are incredibly friendly and accommodating. One of my kids hates sauce and they were happy to put no sauce on 2 pieces! Nothing beats a mom and pop shop :)

My boyfriend and I went here for dinner for the first time last night. I am SO happy we did. The food was fantastic and so was the service. We ordered the calamari to start. This was my favorite dish we had. This was not fried and with the added capers it was so good! I just order the carrot salad for dinner and it was delicious. My BF order the sea bass and he finished his lightning fast (as usual). He was really happy with his dinner. Next time I go I'll order the rabbit. That looked amazing. Andrew was our server and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. We sat on the patio because it was so nice out. The only issue I had was I got some bug bites. Those things find me though and the BF didn't have any. Maybe we'll sit closer to the middle next time.
We finally found a local restaurant with outstanding food and service. From start to finish our foursome was treated to an epicurean delight. Grilled calamari, house salad, sea bass, rabbit, rhubarb tart were outstanding and our choice from the wine selection enhanced the flavor of the meal. Our host Jeff and our server William paced our meal so that we could savor the rich and unique flavors of each course. It was a very special evening from start to finish including dining outside on the open air patio. Our menu was imprinted with our names and our special occasion for dining at Due Venti - thanks to our friends who had prearranged this at no extra cost. We'll be back!
The perfect romantic dinner place! This place was recommended by a chef we met in NJ who used to work here a few years back. I called ahead and told them I was going to be celebrating my girlfriend's birthday here. They did so many little things that really made her feel special, but more on those in a bit. The food here is incredible. We started with calamari which was not battered and deep fried. It was very fresh and tasted really good without a real rubbery texture. I also ordered the chiatigiana salad. I only ate about a third of it, not because it was bad, but because it was just a bit to lemony and sour for my taste. When my server Amanda asked how it was I told her. I found out later she tool the liberty to deduct it from my bill. Very classy. Now would be a good time to mention how great the service was. When we walked in my girlfriend's name was on the chalkboard wishing her a happy birthday. They also printed a custom menu for her with her name on it and birthday wishes. And when we ordered dessert, they wrote happy birthday in Italian on the plate. In chocolate. Yup, I know. Amanda was one of the best waitresses I've ever had. She was so helpful from choosing wines to making suggestions. It was obvious that she enjoys working here because she exuded a real joy and happiness our entire time we were there. Back to the food. For our main courses my girlfriend had the Piedmont strip steak and I had the sea bass. My girlfriend ordered her steak medium rare and it was executed to perfection. The se bass is apparently one of the dishes they are known for and it was probably the most amazing fish I have ever eaten. It was so meaty and smooth. My mouth is watering just thinking about it now. As mentioned before we ordered dessert. It was the affogato where we poured espresso over ice cream. It was a combination I had never had before and it was amazing. The ambiance here is perfect for celebrating an anniversary or asking someone to marry you. It is as romantic a place as one can get and one of the most enjoyable eating experiences my girlfriend and I have ever had. Definitely ask for Amanda. You won't be disappointed.

I'm re-writing my review:) The lasts two times I went here, the service was much better! The homemade potato salad is excellent, and I like that they have a basic selection of food. Yay I'm excited to return here again!
Terrific frozen custard. Great example of bad service. This was first and will be last visit to this soft serve. Ordered chocolate dip wanted rolled in toasted almonds; what the sign called "twinkle coat". When there was no line, so as to not make a scene, I returned and stated "This is not what I expected. This is not toasted almonds." The server responded "that is what you ordered", and as if I was an idiot, repeated what I had ordered. Beware: twinkle coat is not just toasted almonds. There's a lot of sugar and maybe some toffee in it. It is over the top sweet. Instead of offering to make me a new cone , (I was ready to pay for another), I was told that this whole bad experience was my fault because I ordered the twinkle coat and my own bad attitude.
I would like to take this place and relocate it to my neighborhood in Baltimore Maryland. This is a must stop when I'm home. Just wish they were open year round. Consistently good. The custard is too die for.
