It's clean. I mean spotless. The breakfasts are yummy, and it's very, very reasonable in price. I don't gush much, but this should be your first choice for lodging in Rangeley.

Sandy is aces he has a wealth of information about all things Maine. Breakfast made to order as it should be in a B&B. I will be back at the Rangeley Lakes B&B often

My wife and I had the twin lobster rolls and our friend had the pastrami for lunch today. We all agreed everything was great and tasty. We're so glad this restaurant is consistently great. Hope it never changes.
It is done. Closed. Too bad. Great place
We went to the Tall Tales Tavern during our last night in Rangeley and wish we had tried it out sooner. My husband enjoyed their ribs special and I their lobster pot pie. I could barely finish the bowl. So good! Small space, but fills quickly. They have lots of drinks available and food choices for everyone. Even better, they use vegetables from their own garden. Our server, Audrey, was great. She kept up the pace as her tables filled up and kept the drinks coming without the wait.

I ate here twice while on vacation this summer. The first time was in the dining room (got rained out from being on the porch both times). Both times I had the brownie sundae for dessert and it was out of this world awesome and awesome and awesome. It was flavorful chocolate brownie with chocolate chips and topped off by vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. So you can't go wrong there. Otherwise dinner was pretty good. The grilled NY sirloin was okay but uninspired. However the baby back ribs with a blueberry bbq sauce were excellent. Service was mediocre all in all though. If you're in Rangeley give the place a shot. I'd say it was a little higher than 3 stars due to the brownie sundae.
I've owned a house on Rangeley for years and had been coming to Loon Lodge in years past. After one of our favorite chef/host team left we found the fare okay but not great. We have other friends who own homes here as well and they've felt the same. Well, last night, because other establishments were booked, we decided to go there. In fact one of my best friends who was with us last night had gotten married there in 2003. It's a great place to have dinner and exactly what you would picture for a north woods/lakeside setting. For appetizers we ordered Ahi Tuna, potato and leek soup, crab cakes and chowder. My tuna was exceptional. It was seared, seasoned perfectly and served over seaweed salad. Very nice! The others raved about the other appetizers. My friend and his companion ordered the stuffed Haddock. Both of them couldn't believe the size of the portions and how great it tasted. They couldn't finish it. They raved about their meals. My wife had the stuffed meatballs. BTW, it's an appetizer, but you'd never know by looking at them. 2 very large meatballs served with Marinara sauce. Both my wife and I have high standards when it comes to food. She also raved about the meatballs. As I'm on a diet and am careful what I eat, I ordered the Lemon chicken and asked for steamed green beans. I usually don't get chicken at restaurants for a few reasons one of which is it's usually over cooked. Not this dish, it was cooked to perfection, grilled with a very nice lemon glaze. It was one of the best chicken dishes I've had. The desserts were exceptional. My wife ordered the mini pie (Blueberry) and our friend the Angel food cake with mixed berries. The service was on par with the food. We initially made a reservation to sit inside. When we got there our table was ready, but everyone saw how nice it was on the porch and we asked if it would be okay to sit there instead. No problem at all, they accommodated us and were happy to make the change. Our waitress was great. You could tell she likes her job and was attentive but not overly so. As we finished we all agreed we'd be coming back very soon and wondered why it had taken us so long. As people that come to the area often we left quite happy that we have this restaurant to frequent again.
We visited the Loon Lodge on a weeknight and found the place very cozy and quiet. The food was very good and the service was great. Prices are consistent with three $$$. Give them a try.

Welcome to the Rangeley dining scene. How is it possible to have very good food - across the Board - and leave customers ready to scream? This place does it. We had dinner here three times. The bar-b-que, the salads, the fried pickles, onion rings all first-rate. Brisket, pulled pork, sauces all some of the best food we've ever had in this town (though one could say that's not a tall order). But then - the service. Beyond atrocious. One waitress for the entire place. And a surly one at that. She told us bluntly when we inquired why she didn't have help: "I don't want any; that way I can keep all the tips myself." They must be small ones. We watched people walk in, then walk out in frustration. Dirty tables never cleared. "Seat yourself, wherever." It is hard to believe that the person who owns this place can not watch the scene in horror. It's too bad. Rangeley has few places one can get decent food at any price. This 45th Parallel should be the best bet in town. They are blowing it.
If you are not from the area, move on. This place seems to only cater to locals. I wish Yelp would allow the option of no stars because this place deserves none. I cannot speak to the food because we didn't even get seated. My family and I are from Boston and we went to Maine for the weekend. We were in the area and decided to check this place out because it had a good Yelp rating. The place wasn't too busy. There were some empty tables. We were a party of 7 so we needed 2 tables which we didn't think would be a problem as there were empty tables scattered around the room. Upon arrival, the waitress told me it'd be a minute. We watched while she serviced the other customers and then came back to us 15 minutes later and told us it would be an hour. We asked if they could just push some tables together and she responded 'I guess so'. We waited and watched while she kept servicing her other customers, who looked like regulars, and ignored us. Another 15 minutes later, she says she is still working on it and returns to take care of her other customers...so we walked out. We were all pretty sure it was because we didn't look like we were from the area.
Tremendous BBQ. Great flavors that will make you compare the taste every time you eat bbq elsewhere. Great for Rangeley.

This is the breakfast spot when at Rangeley. Friendly service. Good food coffee! Link sausage is excellent!
Great spot! The food was ridiculously fast, and quite tasty. Just what I was looking for. A classic old-school diner vibe with some nice Maine memorabilia and photos spread throughout. No frills, affordable, and delicious. I'll be coming back again when I'm in the area.

The Shed is pretty fantastic. The food is great, the atmosphere is laid back and calm. Vegetarians can get a portobello sandwich and the sides are delicious. Granted, the service was better when it was just the owner running the business. The service is a little bit slow now.
This review is based on our tipping standards at - blog.lavall.ee/tip ATTENTIVENESS: N/A as we did takeout. TIMELINESS: 2 They told us 15 minutes until it would be ready. We were there at 15 minutes and it wasn't ready until 30 minutes. FOOD QUALITY: 6 The good was excellent, the portions large, and mine lasted for 2 large meals. Total score 8 out of a possible of 14.
Best brisket sandwich ever, every summer we make a point to stop when in Rangeley. Always a great meal.

Good food here!! Good prices too!! We come here while visiting the family camp in Hunter Cove and Sarge's is a definite stop! I love the broccoli cheese bites and the fried fish sandwich!!! Very good! Burgers are great too! They have fresh salads and good chowder! Fries are pretty good and coleslaw is very good! Margaritas are great! They have live music and karaoke that I did partake in! Fun for late nights after snowmobile rides or after a day on the lake! They have parking for snowmobiles across the street next to The Rangeley Inn!! Very convenient! Def would recommend visiting Sarge's!!
2.5 stars. My boyfriend and I stopped in here after exploring the town for a bit on Saturday. Average bar atmosphere with a college football game on. The place smelled great but we had had a big breakfast prior to stopping in so we were only doing drinks. I've had decent burgers here in the past. The bartender seemed more interested in taking care of the locals than us and we waited on her for over 20 minutes with empty drinks and our card out when we were ready to go. I have a house in the area and will probably stop in again, hopefully a different bartender will be on that night.
We were here in Labor Day weekend of '13. Bartender wasn't rude but he didn't give a shit about us. He was more concerned with some waitress or regular talking about townie stuff. When I finally shouted to get his attention he was annoyed that we wanted menus and that I asked what was on tap. We looked at the menu for about five minutes then shouted for his attention again only to be told the kitchen was closed. Kind of a dick move to not let us know when we asked for menus but at least we weren't suckered into buying a drink first. Not worth it unless you're a townie. There is a nice restaurant across the street called Forks in the Air and a bbq place up a half mile that are much more accommodating of tourists.

Stopped in here our first morning in Rangeley. They have decent coffee- although stick to the darker roasts if you like your coffee to have a little body to it. the regular house coffee blends were super weak but the others were good. Both J and I had the Nor'easter bagel sandwich with bacon (egg, cheese & bacon on a bagel). Good hearty sandwich, came out fast and hot despite it being busy. The bagel itself wasn't anything special- If a place has "bagels" in the name, I do usually expect the bagels to be something a little above everything else they offer but they were not much different than grocery store bagels but my sandwich was still good. j had a raspberry turnover- fluffy and crispy, good, not too sweet. They didn't have many other pastry selections but we weren't complaining. We stopped in the day we were leaving to grab a quick sandwich but it was almost noon and they told us they stopped breakfast sandwiches at 11. Don't see why it's such a big deal to cook an egg when you have hot lunch sandwiches that require a lot more cooking but hey, that's their rule and you can make your own when you run a business. Ended up getting a bagel with cream cheese since I wanted breakfast - the veggie cream cheese was yummy and the bagel ho hum. Overall- decent place to get a quick bite and coffee. Would go back if in Rangeley again but no wowed by anything in particular.
I love visiting this place every time I get up to Rangeley.
Bad. The food isnt great and the service is the worst. NOT FRIENDLY. The owner is misreable. I see its for sale and here's to hoping some picks it up cheap cause anyone is better than her !
