My ex co worker Rachel put me on to this place 2 years ago and it took receiving my annual free dunner on us birthday coupon to return. The ambiance is relaxing and fun. You walk over a bridge that looks similar to one seen in Memoirs of a Geisha. The bridge is over a pond filled with colorful Koi fish. I brought my son an daughter with me and the chef did a wonderful job at bending the age old rule of not playing with food and in multiple flame tricks, the wow factor was quite amusing. Food portions are great and filling. I was impressed....UNTIL they brought out my free desert. I chose the red velvet cake cupcake. When they brought it out the cupcake was still frozen. Rachel didnt care and ate it but I did and complained. They expressed a willingness to replace the cupcake so i agreed. While I cannot for a fact say they microwaved it, I am sure that is what they did because cupcake number two was hella warm....smh...By this time I am convinced, I have "Goldilocks" written on my forehead. I accept the third cupcake and decided it might be best to take it home. I applaud their efforts to please their customers. I am sure I will return again next year (when I get my next free birthday coupon) Wink!

I may be slightly bias since this was my first job growing up but the owner really cares about the customer. I think that's really important to consider. All of the food is fresh and of the finest quality. That's why it's a little more expensive. You also get so much food that you could split a dinner and roll of sushi and be satisfied. It's definitely my favorite spot when visiting the town I grew up in!

Don't waste your dining bucks here! There are so many better choices out there. When you dine at Osaka Japanese Restaurant in Eldersburg expect a completely mediocre experience where you will spend far too much money for oversalted, oversauced food in a dining room that is shabby (and actually a bit dirty). The temperature in the dining room is very cool, especially before and after the hibachi is in use, so dress accordingly. I dined here with a friend and an almost 5 year old (who we thought would like the entertainment factor of the meal) early on a Saturday evening. Our server was ok. Our chef was boring ... he tried to be entertaining, but fell way short of the mark. When he attempted to toss extremely hot, greasy shrimp into the mouths of our table companions he hit two out of three of them SPLAT on the forehead. Our meal for 2 adults and 1 child came to $95.00. The menu is over-priced, the food is just so-so, and the place needs a major facelift.

One of our favorite Japanese restaurants. We took many of our guests out of town and they all loved it. Too bad we moved.

My favorite hibachi restaurant. Great food and great chefs! Def get on their bday mailing list and get your free dinner. Food is a little pricey though $$$

Our family had a fun time watching our food be prepared in front of our eyes. Our chef was very entertaining. The hibachi dinners were delicious and plentiful to share, especially if you get the fried rice or noodle upgrade. We tried the fried rice based on the Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. Chicken, steak, shrimp, and scallops were tried in our group; everyone enjoyed them. More scallops would have been appreciated with the steak and scallop combo, it came with five and were awesome. I really wanted to try the sushi but the prices were too inflated to warrant it; $8.50 for a spicy tuna roll is outrageous. With the $20 off coupon flyer, it made it more reasonable but still pricey enough to be an occasional treat.

Amazing Experience! I went here with my family for birthday dinner. Without spoiling too much, the presentation of the cooking of food by the chef was almost as good as the actual food itself. Although it's most definitely not affordable and not your typically priced dinner, prices were cheaper than I had originally thought they would be as well. The service was great, didn't run into any real problems like previous reviews have mentioned. One thing to note was that we did get the check a little early while everyone was still not even half way done with the meal. Another thing to do is not order excessively. Everyone in my party ordered a Hibachi meal with rice or noodles, as well as numerous sushi platters. We didn't look close enough to realize that the Hibachi meals include salad and soup as appetizers. This place was super fun, and the food was great, although I'm not from the area I'll most definitely be back.

Osaka is a great local place for Hibachi. Food and service is always top notch, and they have Sushi! Can't beat that! Can get a little pricey if you're not careful. They do add on extra for Fried Rice or Noodles, but it's worth it. The Steak and Scallops is my go to, always fresh and huge scallops.

Osaka has a very nice atmosphere with a beautiful koi fish pond you walk over by bridge to get to your table. The food was outstanding! I got the filet mignon and shrimp combo with fried rice. The filet mignon was ordered medium rare and came out juicy, just as it should. Their yum yum sauce went well with both the shrimp and mignon. The chefs do make a bit of noise from all the clanking they do. Our chef made us a onion volcano which i thought was pretty cute. The servers were all very polite and filled our drinks when empty . Overall, i would recommend this restaurant to others.

I've been to Osaka about ten times and the food is always good. They start with hot soup and a iceburg lettuce salad with this AMAZING ginger dressing. Then, the chef comes out and entertains while preparing your food. Some of the chefs are more entertaining than others, but they all prepare great food. The fillet mignon and shrimp are my favorite and I always have food left over for the next day. The cheapest dinner is about $20 but I think it's worth it to spend a few more bucks for a combination platter.

I did not like the food. It was seasoned poorly and the servers were not well trained.

I'll start this review by saying I'm not the biggest hibachi fan in the world. My wife however, just might be. I had always found hibachi food to taste the same no matter what I was eating (overwhelming teriyaki flavor?). I found it to be greasy, and far-too-salty. I was constantly vetoing my wife's pleas to return to Kyoto, Kobe, Sakura, Nichi Bei Kai or (God-forbid) Ginza. Osaka however, is one of the only hibachi restaurants around that I will go back to (Kobe is the only other one, but only very rarely) The filet at Osaka is as good as any around and I can actually enjoy the cut of meat, it's not drowned in seasoning. The fried rice is fantastic. The chefs are friendly and the sushi is passable although a little uninspired (it HAS improved drastically over the past 6 months or so however). My wife and I now dine here almost every week and have rarely had a bad experience. Our only problems(and they were minor) have come due to the inexperienced wait staff (to be expected as it appears 100% of the waitresses are highschool-age) and those were handled promptly and well beyond our expectation. I will mention that if you go to hibachi restaurants for the show as much for the food, you may be a slightly disappointed. Most of the chefs here are not the most enthusiastic showmen. This is another thing we LIKE about Osaka however, as my wife and I tire of the same scripted show over and over and would rather not have food items thrown at us. The prices are a little high but can often be offset by coupons they send out through mailers. We rarely take advantage of these as we like to support our good, local businesses but they ARE available if this was going to keep you from visiting. *UPDATE: It would figure that the very next visit after my review, I'd have to come back and retract something - The wife and I sat with a new chef this evening who put on one of the best and funniest Hibachi shows I've ever seen. Again, personally, I'll get sick of this quickly but I thought it only fair I should point it out.

We have been to Osaka a few times now. We live within walking distance, so it is convenient. I wouldn't drive far for the food though. Cons It is a little greasy I often find the restaurant to be dirty. It needs a good deep cleaning. The servers are very young and often not super helpful or knowledgable The showmanship is hit or miss Pros The owners are really nice and we always get seated quickly. Fried rice is very yummy Chopsticks for kids

We've been to this place a few times; we now usually just get sushi instead of hibachi, but even when we've ordered hibachi, it's been good. They cook the veggies until crisp tender & keep the steak med-rare as I request it. The fried rice is tasty and the chef's are generally entertaining. Their seafood sauce is absolutely divine, likely made with mayo & awful for me, but divine nonetheless. Their sushi is usually spot on. We try their specials a lot when there, and I don't think we've hit one we haven't liked. Average price for these rolls can be $10 - $12, so it's not a cheap dinner if we do the sushi, but it's one of our favorite places for it.

While the food was very good, this may have been the worst service experience I have ever had. It started with the drink order. I ordered a soda and a beer and my wife ordered a glass of wine and an iced tea. I received the beer only and my wife received the iced tea only. The waitress came back and forth several times before finally remembering my soda. When we asked the waitress where the glass of wine was she stated that the bar was very busy and it would take awhile. At this point, I was very frustrated and I asked a manager about the wine and the sushi I had ordered that seemed to take a long time. He went straight to the bar and got the wine and it seems like the sushi order was forgotten to be put in since I saw the manager go behind the sushi bar and start to make my order. The second beer I ordered took another 10 minutes to get. This time, the bar or restaurant were no longer busy, in fact there were only a few other tables, The worst part about the whole servcie was after the habachi chef left and everyone at the table was eating, the bus boy came and cleaned the grill. Imagine eating your dinner while a bus boy is scraping a grill of its grease, pouring water on a hot grill and steam rising all around you while you are trying to enjoy an expensive meal. While we were finishing eating our meal, the waitress handed our bill to us. Not when we had finished, while we were eating is when she handed the bill to us. For an expensive meal, I was never so appaulled by poor service. It may have been a poor waitress, but the manager I asked for, while getting the things I requested, never apologized or offered to make up for the lack of service in any manor. Beware of the poor service. I will not be going to Osaka in the future.
