I have been coming here since they opened last year, mind you we travel from Rockville to Germantown at lunch bypassing the closer one in Gaithersburg because this one was WAYYYY better. Well NOT anymore. They carried items that set them apart from the Gaithersburg location which they no longer carry. Why take away items that NO other hibachi restaurants in this area offered. That was not a smart business move. They used to carry A cucumber salad, Regular salad and a great bowtie salad as side choices instead of just the normal rice, noodles and veggies. :( Now the food is just MEH!! Oh and lets not forget the tight limit on the yum yum sauce now... smh This location which was once a favorite just got cancelled off our list. Bring back the better choices please!!!

Very good! A little bit of a wait but I guess that's a good thing. Shrimp tempura roll was the best!! Spring roll not so much. Next time I'll try the fried rice.

Ya know what, yeah I give 'em 4 stars - just deal with it....'twas a smooth overall experience. Brownie points for having sriracha sauce bottleS readily available at the counter and near the fountain drinks (yup, PLURAL). Speaking of fountain drinks, they have Coke Zero so next time I'll return w/my other half who enjoys that fizzy bev. Convenient fast food chain uber similar to Sarku Japan. For those who know, that should sum up the description of this place. I enjoyed the medley they offered in my chicken bento box. Thanks for offering white ginger slices too. That healthy chunk of wasabi brought a smile to my mug. The food porn will best describe our experience here. All were cooked just right, no soggy veggies - still had good bite, and the portions were fine. This location can get as busy as Chipotle so expect to wait a few minutes. If you parallel parked then enter at the front but there's additional parking at the back too.

My new sweet spot! Found this place while looking around for a quick bite! The bento box is the best deal around! Meat, California Roll, Dumplings and Spring rolls all together come out under ten dollars! I thought the flavor was delicious, but if you think it's too bland just add the sauce they give to you! Will be coming back everytime I'm in the area- Quick, Cheap, Good!

Quickfire, my love...how have I never tried your delicious and easy-on-the-wallet food? All this time you quietly sat next to Chipotle in Gaithersburg and watched me walk in and out and in and out and in and out...never saying a word. Not attracting me with your buy 6, get the 7th meal free card. Why? Why? WHY??? I tell my sister that I will buy her dinner but I am on a budget (because this girl likes to eat as much as I do and she loves to spend OPM!) so we could not go anywhere with linen napkins. Plus, I was headed to Germantown (one guess where I was headed!) and she would need to drive and meet me if she didn't want to shop with me. This was tough as neither of us live in Germantown and I rarely eat there except for Outback. She mentioned Quickfire, but I dismissed it not knowing what it was. After exhausted all the other options, she brought up Quickfire again. Said it was inexpensive and hot and yummy. Reminded me that there was another one in Gburg next to my Chipotle. I figured I was up for the challenge especially since I am trying to review new restaurants. No frills Japanese food. Hot, fresh and fast! Two people can add on sides and still dine for less than 20 bucks! Hot diggity dog! You get to choose a protein (chicken, steak, salmon, shrimp or tofu), a starch (white rice or noodles) and a veggie (steamed cabbage w/ carrots or something else). Prices are based on the protein you choose ($6 to $6.85). Two proteins for $7.50 or three for $8.50. Feeling hungry? Make it a bento box by adding a side for $1.70. California roll (4 pcs), hibachi chicken roll (4 pcs), spicy crab and shrimp (4 pcs), spring roll (2 pcs), dumplings (3 pcs) or shrimp tempura (2 pcs). Is it me or will you lose money by NOT choosing to add something extra??? They also have sushi rolls for $5 or specialty rolls for $8. Add even more protein or rice or noodles. That is it. Simple menu. Delicious food! I chose the beef with rice and the cabbage. Feeling hungry, I made it a bento box and added spring rolls ($8.25). My sister made her pick 2 into a bento box and added a california roll to her beef and chicken ($10.20). With tax, the total was $19.56. We ate in and she happily used their siracha. I devoured all my food. The beef was tender and I had they add teriyaki sauce. The spring roll came out later and to be honest, it was soggy inside and there was no duck sauce. Skip this next time. My sister couldn't even eat all her food. She tore through the sushi and the protein but couldn't finish the rice and veggies. I took pictures but then got a new phone. Seriously, a good amount of food at an affordable price. Get the rewards card and come back often!!

My friend has been gushing about this place for a while, so I finally decided to try it out, and unfortunately, I wasn't blown away with the food. Pros - affordable (most items under $7), quick (food is ready in 5 mins or less), & fresh (the hibachi items are made right in front of you) Cons - it's just not that tasty. :/ It tasted like average chinese food for me, nothing to write home about. I got the shrimp + rice + veggies option, and the shrimp were flavored okay, but the rice was definitely bland, which is surprising since rice is relatively easy to dress up. Veggies are not my favorites in general, so these sub par veggies definitely did not leave me wanting more either. While the affordability, efficiency, and great staff are wonderful, if the food isn't tasty, the masses will not come.

I headed here after the line for Chipotle looked a little too long. The service at 9pm was a little shaky and the girl in front of me had to have her food remade because there was a mix-up in her order. I found the line cooks to be less than polite in handling her situation. That said, it is undeniable that you get a ton of decent food. The California rolls here are pretty damn good. For about $9 bucks its a good deal.

  • Jennifer L.

This place was good at first, but then it started to taste different. The chicken's stringy and has a bunch of hard spots & they don't fully cook their shrimp, they just cover it with sauce to make it brown. Their yellow sauce, on the other hand, is really good. It's like Sakura's "Yum-Yum" sauce!

    (2)
  • Stephen Y.

I've been there a few times already, and each time I've got different meats each time. Not a tofu fan so I won't get that but the salmon, shrimp, chicken, and beef have all been cooked well and when I'm in the mood I'll go back in a heartbeat.

Not quite what you think it is, until you walk inside. I gave this place 3 stars only because of their setup and service. The food was very good and it was fresh as they advertised, but not the place for sushi. The setup is like a backwards Chipotle. The concept of fast hibachi is good and they cooks do a good job at making sure the meats are cooked thoroughly. Now the reason why I say their operation is backwards is because you order what you want and pay first. Then they put a styrofoam plate with with a toothpick depending on what kind of food you got and start stalking up the trays. There were only about 6 people when we went there and they were all so confused about who got what and what. The lady behind the counter asked me twice if I had ordered something that I hadn't. So that was very annoying. I would never go there during their lunch or dinner rush, I can only imagine. But then again this was my first time there and they're fairly new so perhaps it was just my experience. Overall, the food was very delicious, service...not so much.

  • Dave S.

this place is designed just like chipotle, but instead of burritos they serve hibachi. It can be confusing on your first visit, but the food is good

    (4)
  • Shasha S.

well i am a lil disappointed with the ambiance i just thought you would get more of the hibachi sitting down restaurant with the chefs cooking in front of you like business.i must say though you get exactly what you pay for .i visited twice first time got the salmon n shrimp the salmon was a lil on the tough side n then i was offered yum yum sauce it looks almost like a dressing is not bad at all.their salads however are a nono for me the mixed veggies are soo overdressed so the veggies lose their crunch.the cucumber jalapeno salad has a whole bag of onions in it b the jalapenos overpower the salad.the bow tie salad is ehhhh okay .the staff seems couteous nothing outstanding.i will visit again whenever i crave but will not be a regular!

  • Tiff G.

This is an update from my prior review... This time my food tasted great-- the trick is to ask them to cook your food well done and ask for extra sauce to cast out the bland taste

    (4)
  • Mike h.

After coming again, I am very disappointed with the quality of the chicken (very fatty), and the fact that you have to pay for additional "Yummy Yummy" sauces. No other place charges for that and it is a shame they do.

  • Nikki H.

4 stars because it took so long, and no one was ahead of me in line. Overall great prices, friendly staff. I got California rolls and Spicy tuna sushi. Great sushi! I definitely will return.

  • Tamara D.

Went for the first time on 2/6/15 after hearing my sister rave over this place. Nice, clean, friendly, affordable, and the food was Okay (tasted a bit bland) but nothing to write home about. But all-in-all nice little place nestled in bustling Germantown! I'd return if in the area.

  • Henny T.

My family just went there to have dinner. We got noodles with shrimp and beef. They were so good.

I have started coming here this past week when my little sister introduced this place to me. I enjoyed the chicken bento they cooked for me. It has such large serving size and a lot of different sides you can eat along. I like their buy 5 meals and get a chicken hibachi for free, you can save the card they stamp to add up for the deal.

    (4)
  • Jennifer J.

The chicken was fresh but a little plain there's nothing special about their teriyaki. But I did enjoy the sushi. Very good. Will only go back for the sushi.

Don't have time to have a long sit down hibachi meal at an expensive Japanese restaurant? With Quick Fire, you don't have to! Great hibachi taste in less than 10 minutes out the door. The cooks move in a streamlined fashion as their menu is brief. They cater to vegetarians too with tofu as a protein. The best draw to this place is their notorious white sauce which you could not get enough of! Ambiance is fast food joint in nature and tables do not accommodate large parties. Families larger than 4-5 must sit apart.

    (4)
  • Braden J.

The cool thing about Quickfire is it fills a niche that I personally haven't seen before. It is a fast food version of a sit down Japanese steak house. Usually when I go to one of these sit down places the food is good and there is some extra entertainment from a chef flipping shrimp around the table, but it is a little on the pricey side. Quickfire gives you the food quickly at a very reasonable price. I usually get the Hibachi chicken with fried rice and vegetables and it is $6. Also the portions are very large and you have unlimited Yum Yum sauce at your disposal., which I am obsessed with. The thing you really have to remember when paying $6 for a huge helping of hibachi style chicken is.....drum roll please.... you are paying $6 for hibachi chicken. You can't expect this to be the same high quality food you are getting from one of the sit down places. I think the food is decent here, but you definitely have to measure the quality against other fast food restaurants or you'll be disappointed with your meal.

Its not bad food, but I am not overly motivated to return. It seems better suited for a mall food court than a walk-to/drive-to restaurant. Of Asian comparisons, Ricky's Rice Bowl does a much better job in a similar genre. Ricky's has a similar selection of meats but a wide variety of sauces (Quickfire has only one) and Ricky's gives you a better serving of vegetables. Somebody compared it to a Chipolte style place, but other than having the food made in front of you, it is in no way similar to Chipolte (check out ShopHouse in DC instead). It is not a mixed up bowl like Chipolte or a deep mixture of vegetables and sauces like Ricky's. It's pretty much just starch, veggie and your meat on top. Yeah, not a whole lot different in the end than any asian lunch buffet, or likely Panda Express next door (but Quickfire has less options). So, I don't see it lasting. Chipolte gives you multiple options so every bowl is a unique colorful creation. With Quickfire you choose your meat. Then you choose a salad (lettuce, cucumber, & something else) & you choose a starch (fried rice, white rice, rice noodle, cabbage). Your meat is grilled, terriyaki sauce is added, and than you get your Styrofoam container. I tried the chicken and thought it was flavorful but fatty. The salmon portion was good (they give you two mini-steaks), was a little fishy in the center, but was otherwise flavorful. The sauce was nice and they provide Srirachi as a condiment. The cucumber jalapeno salad was very hot (lots of peppers) but no other discerning flavor. It was pretty much cucumbers in a light vinegar sauce, some other spices for texture (not much flavor) and that was it. I'd skip that next time. My salmon was $6.85 and was a good portion for the price. I added on the $2 half fusion option and tried the Philly roll. The roll was good but the seaweed paper was chewy the way food-store rolls get when they have been made ahead and are sitting around too long. Like I said, food wasn't bad, but no real reason to go back. My kids liked the rice and noodles, which says something I guess. If they ended up giving you a dozen vegetable & sauce choices and mixed up a Mongolian style meal for each person, that would be worth going back to.

Ok so we have been going here for the past 3 months and absolutely loved the food until the other day. We walked in placed our usual order and noticed a roach walking on the counter!!!!!! We told the cashier and he only laughed and swiped the counter off.

So here is another new spot in Gtown, nestled in between burger joints, crappy burritos, and a sub joint... Here the place offers a fast food version of Sakura minus the show...you wont see Edward Scissorhands juggling an egg or whistle a choo choo train...the food is somewhat healthier among the neighbors on the block... The menu is somewhat limited and sort of pricy. The price of the sushi, I can do better for half price and get more at the Lotte Market. I can make my own bento box, but I totally regret it... first I chose a fried cabbage type mixture... It was a little to burnt to my liking... then I opted for like a shrimp type mixture with rice... I ended up with a somewhat raw shrimp... The shrimp tempura was on point... the highlight of my meal.. Some of the other food is okay... like the beef teriyaki, but a little bland... I asked for more of that sauce and the stingy cashier was like no. Wtf no? So of course I dont take no for an answer and asked the amigo working the grill for some and got it... You seriously can do better else where. This place is overpriced and not all that.

Great spot......tasty food.... fast service........$6.50 for a nice stir fry with steak, noodles, and veggies? Wow! much better than taking out from the place in Safeway. My new go to spot. I just hope it doesn't get too popular and start getting Chipotle size lines. Maybe shouldn't write this review :)

  • Lee F.

This is a pretty good spot. The menu changed not too long ago but it's more or less the same setup. Walk in, pick your meats and order. I always get chicken and beef double chicken, extra sauce, onions and sesame and get yum yum sauce on the side. The yum yum sauce is more of a salad dressing then a sauce but who cares it's a great addition when you mix it with siracha. I always get extra vegetables instead of any rice and they never up charge which is great for someone on a no carb diet sometimes.

  • John H.

My new addiction. The only reason I don't give this place 5 is all of the grease you end up with on your plate. Quality and service are great and the pricing is the best thing here.

    (4)
  • Cynthia C.

My coworkers introduced me to this place and I was won over right away. The food is freshly prepared right in front of you and is delicious! I've had both the beef and chicken and was not disappointed by either one. I would recommend extra sauce. The prices are reasonable. but I wonder for how long? They are competing with a Panda Express several doors down and most definitely beat them hands down. Even if they raise the prices I would go to Quickfire first!

Just got here from California, so i was looking for a good sushi place to make my go-to place. I totally found it!! Love the sushi in this place and got tons of it for 40 bucks.

  • Chad B.

Very good, Quick, Quality food. Your choice of Chicken, Steak, Shrimp, Tofu or combination if 2 with Fried rice, White rice or noodles. They also have a small selection of pasta/noodle salads and sushi rolls that you can add to your order or order by themself as a meal! Love this place and recommend it frequently to my friends. PS; get the yummie sauce!!!

    (5)
  • Glenn F.

It's good fast food Hibachi at a decent price. I have not tried the sushi so I will have to update that later but not holding out hopes for a fast food style place to have good sushi. Portions were good, it's as good or better than Sarku in Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD). I will go eat here again no doubt.

    (4)
  • Lynn P.

Just moved into the area and was really excited when I found out this place was like Sakura. The food was good! I had the chicken teriyaki with rice and had a few add ons (sushi rolls, shrimp tempura, dumplings). The staff was super nice and the facility was nice and big like a chipotle. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a fast and affordable hibachi and sushi type meal.

    (5)
  • Richa T.

This place is pretty comparable to Sarku at Montgomery mall. The service has always been pretty quick for me- no longer than 5-7 mins from when I get in line to when I'm handed my food. The portion size is also very good. Bottom line: good fast food at a pretty cheap price!

    (4)
  • Edson H.

Stopped by this place recently and I was very impressed. Way better than Sarku in the mall. Plus they offer the yum yum sauce you get at hibachi restaurants. The prices are good for the amount of food you get. Don't forget to try their sushi, the California tempura was delicious.

Good fast grilled chicken and rice with yummy veggies. I def go with the jalapeño veggies! And you buy 5 and get 1 free!

This eatery is new to Germantown so my husband and I decided to check it out on a Saturday night. It's decked out to feel like Chipotle; very clean and plenty of seating with booths that have wooden benches which is aesthetically nice. I wasn't too worried about comfiness since it is a casual eatery so it's not like I was sitting down for more than 1/2 hour. As for the food, for $8.50 I got the salmon/shrimp combo with fried rice and cucumber/jalepeno salad. The salmon tasted good with the teriyaki sauce, cooked well, but it was white which I had never seen before. I did get a fair load of shrimps. My husband got the chicken hibachi with white rice and a green salad. He was pleasantly surprised by the good portions and taste. I would say this place is a much better choice than Sarku. I like their side options; at Sarku you only get white or fried rice and here you have the choice of noodles. Also, here they have several veggie/salad sides than just icky bland steamed vegetables at Sarku. They also provide sriracha and that orange sauce (which I love!) in bottles which I would suggest at least provide plastic or paper 1 oz. containers. My husband and I did not get sushi, they have a "pick 2" menu choice so maybe one day in the future I will be tempted to try. Overall this is a nice addition to Germantown Commons. The food is quite decent and I think it will give chipotle and Panda Express a run for its money! It's a good spot to pick up a quick, fulfilling meal on the go without the need to splurge or wait in ridiculous lines.

The place is kind of run down. The food is pretty good for the price. Their california rolls are amazing. Super greasy, but tasty!

  • Jane M.

This is a great place for a relatively quick meal! They're newly opened, so are still getting the kinks out of thier service line. The hibachi chicken is excellent, and steamed veggies the best choice. Sauce is tastey, but salty, so may be good to ask them to go light with it. Great addition to Germantown's dining out choices.
