Way back when, this was a fly fishing shop that brought in a slew of grizzled old men. It's strange to see it completely renovated into a younger, cooler, coffee and gelato hang out. The coffee is very tasty, especially for Catonsville which lacks this sort of thing. In terms of coffee shop decor, the place feels too sterile (think Baskin Robbins) and not warm and cozy. And although I haven't tried the gelato, I assume it will have a tough time competing with the delicious desserts from nearby Tastee Zone and Opie's. Regardless, the coffee is good and I'm pleased with that.

I was in the mood for a little frosty fix. I went to Cafe di Roma because I have heard great things about their Gelato. I was surprised that on a nice Saturday afternoon when I entered that no one was there except the girl behind the counter. They have same basic desserts like my all time favorite cookie, chocolate tops. But the real draw here is the Gelato with flavors like Cookies and Cream and Snickers. They have three size range from $3 small to a $5 large. I deceided on the Reese's in a medium for $4. It was so delicious with chunks of Reese's in each bite like blasting off into a peanut butter chocolate volcano. The gelato was very smooth and creamy and it disappered as fast as it came. Pros: Great Gelato Plenty of seats Outdoor Seating Cookies look great ( chocolate tops, yum!) Resonable Prices Cons: No music Cafeteria like interior Verdict: I will go back even if its just to try some new flavors, would have given it a five star rating if there was some music or other people there when I got there.

Gelato made on premise. Rich, sweet and very satisfying. Very reasonably priced as well. Less expensive than Rita's and far better tasting. Breakfast and lunch menu looked delicious. Seating is a bit cramped indoors, but there are three sidewalk tables to enjoy your dessert and people watch.

Love this place! Really nice staff, and prices aren't bad. It's not common to find gelato made on-site! It was delish. I also enjoyed a slice of their carrot cake loaf.

Cute, intimate place. Their coffee gelato is to die for! My only complaint is that they have a $5 minimum for credit cards. I would definitely frequent this location for morning lattes more often if they dissolved their credit card minimum.

I am very much addicted to the Gelato! While I haven't tried much of the food or drinks here I am looking forward to it. The staff is always very nice and offer samples to taste the gelato. I like the outdoor seating as well a the cozy inside. Someone asked me what my favorite ice cream was in Catonsville, (we have a lot to choose from) hands down its Cafe di Roma! I even left Fells Point's Pitango to rush back in time to grab gelato at Roma, its pretty stellar!

Whenever I cruise by this location, I must make a pit stop to get at least $20.00 worth of gelato. I know, I have a serious sweet tooth problem! The staff is very friendly and I look forward to my next visit but my only suggestion is to check how much mint is added to the "mint chocolate chip". I was quite disappointed with the taste of my last serving, it seemed as if too much was added and I couldn't enjoy it so I wasted $5.00.

The best! Excellent homemade soups, chicken salad and shrimp salad. And the gelato is made in the store. Also, very kid friendly.

Sorry to say but the coffee and pastries were really quite mediocre. They have gelato but it looked quite sorry to my eyes. Nice folks but that's the only positive I can give.

I definitely drove right by when trying to find this spot but I turned back around an got a spot on the street right out front! There was only one other patron when I was there, camped out with a newspaper as I was setting up my laptop. There wasn't much room for it on the little tables but I didn't mind as I had a prime view of the gelato! Being good, I started with a piping hot bowl of chicken noodle and a smoothie. I'd recommend skipping their smoothies, not so good. But the soup was tasty. The girl working offered me the wifi password even before I asked and I got right to work. It wasn't long before I decided I had to reward myself with some gelato! I was a bit more crowded at that point, a set of grandparents with their four grandkids and a young couple also had squeezed in. No matter. I had vanilla with cherries and chocolate gelato! I can't believe I don't remember the name right now but it was fantastic.

Real, free public broadband and cappacino that tastes better than @Starbucks. 50 mbs/12 while Starbucks is like a dialup. Not where the power outlets are though, if there are any.

This is a great local place. The best shrimp salad ever! Very friendly staff. Coffee is always fresh and delicious. Homemade gelato in lots of amazing flavors.

Excellent coffee, homemade soups and sandwiches. So delicious! I get the Maryland crab or cream of crab sound with some fresh chicken salad and potato chips. If you are gluten sensitive there are plenty of options as well. It's amazing. The coffee is bold - great roasts. If you are in the mood for a great meal, coffee and possibly dessert (in house made gelato). This is your spot. For gelatos I like smores or Reese's! Prices are very cheap for what you get. The shrimp salad sandwich delivers tons of shrimps and is under $10 you would pay at least $18 for this amount of shrimp at other places (or more). The shrimp salad is my husbands absolute favorite. Service is also great! Always smiling and running around to get your order made quickly. Kicks Starbucks butt.

A laid-back cafe in a Norman Rockwell-esque town. We were looking for coffee in the morning and told our GPS to avoid chain stores, voilà, we found Caffe Di Roma. Good cappuccino, strong and smooth. Oh wait, they have gelato too, which makes a perfect breakfast. Coffee Crunch (espresso flavoured gelato with dark chocolate-y crunchy bits) is intensely flavoured in a good way, watermelon sorbetto on the other hand is too sweet for me and overwhelms the delicate fruit flavour. Red Velvet is also on the sweet side, makes it hard to get the more subtle cream cheese and cocoa taste within. I'd give it 3.5 stars. A nice spot to stop by.

Gelato. I'm sure Cafe Di Roma makes fine coffee and sandwiches. But I may never know because I'll be too busy stuffing my face with their gelato. It's amazing. Coconut-almond with real, shredded coconut? Yes, please. "Birthday Cake" gelato? You mean "frosting-flavored ice cream"? A medium--no, large--should do it. Good ol' reliable chocolate? Sure, I can get behind the basics. I'd write more extolling the virtues of their gelato, but I'm drooling and have to go get me some. Stat.

So I've been to Caffe Di Roma before.. However, after reading the last two negative reviews about this little dessert spot in historic Catonsville, I decided I had to visit the cafe twice in the past three days... Thankfully, I didn't smell dirty mop water on either visit and I didn't get a hair in my food. What I did get, however, was the privilege of gobbling down the greatest gelato in the area in a clean, comfortable environment. Today I even went in with two ladies and tested an employee's patience by asking to try about eight different flavors before placing our order. She was more than patient with us, which was great. Now, like I said I've been to Caffe Di Roma a few times before. But based off my most recent visits I really do want to go here everyday because the gelato is that damn good (way better than the overpriced offerings at Pitango). There are like two dozen flavors jam packed in this place all of which are made IN HOUSE!! This is what truly makes this family owned business a real gem that I'm more than happy to support. I can't comment on any of the sandwiches or other offerings because I've honestly never tried anything but the gelato and the drinks, both of which are delicious. Based on the gelato alone though, I give Caffe Di Roma a strong 5 stars. They offer totally unique flavors like Apple Pie and Reese's peanut butter cup that you can't find anywhere else. The employees are always super friendly and the owner is just a lovely women who I'm more than happy to support on a regular basis. So grateful I have Caffe Di Roma in my life:)

Very tasty gelato at extremely reasonable prices. My personal favorites being a small strawberry shortcake and mama mia mix or Reeses peanut butter with stracciatella mix.

I used to stop by here all the time for coffee in the morning. After a change of jobs and morning driving route, the place fell off my routine. I recently decided to stop in again on a lark, and this time, tried one of the breakfast sandwiches: I think it was turkey sausage, egg whites & cheese -- DELICIOUS!! And I'd forgotten their seasonal coffee selections and wonderfully rich selection of regular & sugar-free coffee flavorings! I'd have to add their seasonal pumpkin spice coffee to my "last meal" requests. Love the cafe's subtly continental vibe, great staff & fresh products. Looks like I'll have to alter my driving route again! :-)

Love this place. It's a small local simple cafe with excellent homemade gelato and nice baked goods. My wife and I been here on several occasions at different times of the year and we've never been disappointed. Never a ridiculous line and even if there was one, it would be worth the wait. A jewel just off of Main Street Catonsville. Definitely recommend.

Gelato. They haz it. Downtown's Pitango is still my absolute favorite simply by means of their subtle, unique flavors. But Cafe di Roma is close by, and tasty too. The coffee's decent coffee. The baked goods are meh. But the gelato is really quite rich and perfect for a quick summer night's nosh. Between the little ice cream shop on Frederick Road and this cafe on Edmonson, I'm very afraid of enlarging my waistline by virtue of frequent application of frozen dairy products.

I was so excited for this place, but I was so disappointed by the time I got here. As everyone raves, the gelato was delicious. What wasn't was the hair I found in the middle of my chocolate hazelnut gelato. That's right a hair. I had already gotten through my half of snickers gelato and half way through my chocolate hazelnut before the incident happened. I didn't expect a refund as I believed I ate my $4 worth of gelato and had no interest in continuing after the unappetizing surprise, but decided to bring it to the hair to the staff's attention. What got me was how nonchalant they were. The girl behind the counter simply said, "Oh, that's not cute. Well we're making a new batch tomorrow anyway." She didn't even try to offer an apology. To say the least, I will not be returning to Caffe di Roma. I'd much rather make the drive to Fell's Point for Pitango where the gelato is always delicious and the customer service is steller.

The gelato is way better than what you get at Rita's. Prices are fair. I've gone here for breakfast a few times and haven't been disappointed with my bagel and croissant sandwiches. They don't have a huge selection of baked goods but what they have is really good. They also serve Lavazza coffee which is some of the best coffee I've had.

Unlike the previous reviewer I've actually been to Caffe Di Roma (yes, it is spelled "Caffe") and have had their desserts, coffee drinks, gelato, and sandwiches. My 5yr old wanted to go there tonight for our Daddy/daughter date night. What a fun time we had! Their coffee is hot and flavorful; and in my opinion puts Starbucks to shame. They have a variety of sweetners, creamers, and flavors to add to your coffee if so desired. The gelato is home-made and out of this world. The local Tastee-Zone and Opies soft-serve shacks do NOT compare! The breakfast sandwiches were good, and the lunch sandwiches were average. This is a small coffee shop but in warmer weather they have outdoor seating. The atmosphere is quiet and friendly. They serve children generously and with a smile. Another plus (especially with children) - the bathroom has always been spotlessly clean. This is not a a 'younger, cooler hang-out' but rather a place welcoming of both young and older customers. There is no specific crowd which hangs-around here making one group feeling uneasy. Caffe Di Roma is a refreshing change from other coffee shops! I had to update my review to show five stars as with their recent updates their service and offerings have become even better. I have refilled my gift card with them several times over, and given gift cards to others for Caffee Di Roma.
